Things about Fallout that I can't stop thinking about:

Alimony is brought up meaning Cooper divorced his wife after learning she suggested dropping the bomb. The bombs were dropped while his daughter was with him so either she knew and didn't care that her daughter would maybe die or was surprised by that timeline and panicked. Coop demands to know where his family is, so assuming he brings his daughter to safety / his exwife / a vault successfully then he and his dog aren't allowed in? And he's been searching for them for 200 years so he doesn't know which vault they were taken to but assumes they're still alive.

When Lucy is at vault 4, they were surprised that she was from a vault when she's clearly in that jumpsuit with those 33 pins on her collar. Like, there's one uniform. Wtf? And they gave Maximus an opportunity for a hot shower but didn't offer to wash Lucy's uniform? She didn't wash the blood off her uniform while there.

They clearly don't have doctors or teach medical skills in vaults 31,32,33 because when crazypants goes into labor she's just doing strangely. (Edit: there seems to be one person with a dr like feel and is there when she's in labor but, ya know, zero obgyns or major medical in a vault meant to propagate human kind is shocking but also typical).

How did vault 33 not know vault 32 was dead for two years? If the overseers did, then the wedding makes zero sense, the overseer would know those couldn't be from 32. If 31 brain roomba knew for two years that there was no communication from vault 32 why did that sit right with him?

Betty, new 33 overseer says she helped McLean bury his wife and i think that means she helped him bomb Shady Sands.

No one talks about how a (edited, thanks for the correction) fusion core can power an entire town but only one BOS suit. Like the gross misuse of resources for the army, now for the Technology Cult. If they dismembered the BOS suits, they could already have more equality of power generation but no one on the show brings that up? It's not cold fusion but it's definitely something.

So typical that the BOS suits had a major flaw that killed thousands of soldiers and they never fixed the flaw.

Anyone at all wanting to mention how Lucy wanted to blow up Moldaver and everyone in that area out of vengeance, but didn't. When that's exactly what her dad did to an entire town, so that blood lust and anger and irresponsible bombing is exactly what's learned in her do-good teachings. Her naivety is stark and blowing up everyone as a symbol is exactly that.

It's strange to me that the actor of Lucy stated that viewers see her character as the hero of the show, when I just see her as a pompous naive entitled person who doesn't listen to many people, thinks she's always right, and if she did take other people's advice about a land and people she's never met and had an ounce of humility, then half of the bad experiences wouldn't have happened to her. I see no hero in this show.

I see the "average viewer" as Coop/the ghoul and that's why so many people like him best.

Cursed Technique: Camouflage. Her cursed energy can take on the appearance of her surroundings, shifting in real time as she moves - making her effectively invisible to the naked eye. She can also imbue objects with her cursed energy to give them the same properties.

Fun Facts:

• Umeko's CT is effective when against normal humans or negligent sorcerers, but once someone looks for residuals she's like a big red target through infrared. Therefore she has a pact that dampens her cursed energy output so she can remain almost completely undetected, but renders her incapable of imbuing her physical attacks with cursed energy while invisible. This makes her incredibly disadvantaged at close range, but makes her invisible to nearly all sorcerers other than very observant ones - namely Gojo Satoru.

• Due to the nature of her pact, her preferred combat style is through imbuing kunai with her cursed energy, making them invisible, then attacking from the shadows. Her talents are mostly relegated to intelligence gathering.

• She's dating Ino :)

• Umeko graduated from the Tokyo school and was a year above Ino

• A huge fan of fighting games - she's won a couple of local tourneys but has never pursued anything higher (she mains Ken in SF and Sin in GG)

• She puts candy canes in her hot chocolate

• She gives off major older sister energy. Is also incredibly supportive towards anyone the second they mention wanting to do something. Wanna pass a test? You've got this! Wanna ask someone out? Do you need a wingman? Need to hide a body? She'll grab a shovel (and then hit you over the head with it afterwards bc wtf were you thinking)

• Can and will carry Ino over her shoulder.

Cursed Technique: Sleep Touch. Anyone he touches will be immediately lulled to sleep and will not wake up until he wills it. They are in tune with a small swarm of moth shikigami, which carry out their CT whenever they land on someone. The effectiveness of the sleep state depends on how much stronger they are compared to their target - ranging from the previously stated scenario, their target waking up sometime before they wish it, to various states of drowsiness.

Fun Facts:

• Eiko's body takes on characteristics of his shikigami when he channels them - namely fuzzy, glowing antennae and swirling blue patterns on his face and arms.

• His moth shikigami glow an electric teal color.

• They are a thief, and use their CT to steal things undetected. Normal humans have no resistance to their CT, so they stick to petty crimes and reselling what they stole online. He's sometimes commissioned to steal cursed weapons/objects, but he rarely takes these jobs and only if he knows said objects/weapons aren't already registered with jujutsu high. He's abysmal at fighting and does not want to run into someone that can resist his technique.

• Eiko has a fairly sizable aquarium at his house and is quietly passionate about it. It is very well maintained.

• Their favorite food is takoyaki.

• They work at a suit/tailor shop.

• They're rather antisocial, only interacting with family on holidays and don't let anyone get past the social rank of "co-worker."

• He would rather not admit he's fond of Noriaki, his "handler" for heists that involve curses.

Pronouns: She/her, but doesn't really care

Rank: Grade 1 Incarnated Curse User

Cursed Technique: Matchbox. By creating friction between her body and something else (such as snapping or dragging her foot on the ground), she can spark her cursed energy into a flame. She can then manipulate said flame however she wishes.

Fun Facts:

• Was a sorcerer of the Edo period, same as Kashimo. However they were not alive at the same time.

• Possessing the body of Sasaki Daigo.

• She was a scribe for a noble house, and met and made a deal with Kenjaku while they both served under said house. Kenjaku was in the body of a lady-in-waiting at the time, and was usually the most entertaining thing happening in Asahi's life. Kenny helped her get the hang of her CT when they would sneak off late at night to practice. There never really was any need for them to actually fight, which they found rather disappointing, so Kenjaku promised they could truly reach their potential in a few centuries if they made a pact together.

• A chronic girl kisser

• Always has the need to be doing something, especially now that she's incarnated and is not restrained by the rules and etiquette that come with serving a noble family.

• He's found a particular interest in gummy candy.

• She's hoping to run into Kenjaku during the culling games. (She's doing fairly decently in it - having 55 points).

• All of Asahi's manors come from etiquette training and necessity. She's actually a total dick. Really the only servant who liked her in her original period was Kenjaku because they thought she was funny. They would often gossip together and snicker in the corner like high school girls.

Rank: Non-sorcerer

Fun Facts:

• Daigo is currently being possessed by Asahi. While not a sorcerer, he could perceive cursed spirits and therefore has not died now that Asahi is incarnated. He does not have the capabilities of being an active vessel, however, and is effectively in a coma.

• He was a barista at a coffee shop for much longer than he wanted to be. He'd dropped out of college because he couldn't keep paying for it, and had since gotten stuck there.

• He is a major boyfailure. Asahi enjoys the novelty of being in a male body, but 100% would make fun of Daigo if he were conscious to hear it.

• He naturally has blue eyes, but they were turned purple once possessed by Asahi.

Name: Koyama Sugi

Age: 15

Pronouns: She/her

Rank: Grade 4 1st year

Cursed Technique: Hallucinations. She turns her cursed energy into a mist which causes hallucinations for anyone around. She doesn't decide what people see, and the experience can range from slightly disorienting to an acid trip - thought the latter is a much rarer experience and usually only happens to non-sorcerers.

Fun Facts:

• Sugi is the second first year at Kyoto Tech.

• Her family is the major reason she's studying to be a sorcerer. She's incredibly timid and dislikes what her CT does to people. She would rather be a manager or window, or preferably a regular person. Utahime convinced her to stay at least as long as it takes to control her CT so she doesn't accidentally effect normal people.

• She was mistreated as a child by non-sorcerers due to them believing she was cursed, and her family didn't like how she wouldn't stand up for herself.

• Sugi likes to listen to music on cassette tapes. Her favorite song right now is Mr. Blue Sky.

• She loves both spicy and sour foods, and is a little competitive about eating them.

• She's good friends with Nitta and Miwa, and has a bit of a sibling-like relationship with Noritoshi. She's scared of the other Kyoto students.

• Can't stand scary movies.

31. Big Ass Avenger.

The Winchesters settle in nicely with Kitty, who keeps me regularly updated. There is plenty to do for them, they certainly don't get the chance to be bored!

I continue with my writing, and Loki keeps himself busy with his hobbies: playing guitar, checking his social media, reading and taking Fenrir for walks.

Then I get a DM from Nea. Her friend 'Webhead' has contacted her, and wants to meet up! He warns her he's bringing a friend who can help.

"He's running late," I say to Nea.

"Who do you think the friend is?" Kitty asks.

"let me send him another DM, see what's taking so long," Nea whips out her phone.

"Maybe it's Thor himself, wouldn't that be exciting?" Kitty smiled.

"Oh yes, I'm practically beside myself, how will I ever contain my joy?" Loki replies sarcastically.

"Be nice," I murmur at him.

"My apologies. Either it is no one important and we're back to square one, or it is truly one of the Avengers, neither of whom I'm eager to get reacquainted with," Loki explains to Kitty.

None of us notices the young man who walks into the coffee shop.

He stands still and looks around, obviously looking for someone.

"Hey Nea, could that be your friend?" I ask.

"Peter?" Nea waves him over and he sits down with us.

"Hi! Yeah, so I'm 'Webhead', but my real name is Peter. Peter Parker. And you must be Nea, Kitty, Marianna... and... and Loki's ghost. Sure. Because life isn't already weird enough." Peter introduces himself.

"It's a temporary situation!" Loki is quick to point out.

"We are trying to help Loki get in touch with his brother, Thor," I explain. "We had hoped you might be able to help with that since you've been able to get up close with the Avengers a few times."

"Up close? Yeah, you could say that," Peter mutters.

"I don't know Thor very well. I met him once or twice, but I'm not exactly on his BFF list. I'm friends with someone who is though.

He'll be here soon, he's just parking the jeep. He wanted to see for himself whether this was for real or a prank. But seeing Loki is actually here, if not a bit see-through, I'm sure he'll help you."

Before the waitress can take our order, the door opens again.

"Oh, I should have probably warned you!" Peter realises. "I can assure you, he's nicer then he looks!"

Half of our group jumps out of their seat.

"WTF! Is that the Incredible Hulk!" Nea blurts out in surprise.

"It's alright, I know Bruce. He won't harm you." Loki reassured Kitty.

We all sit down again.

"WTF? WTF WTF WTF?" Nea thinks as Bruce sits down next to her.

"Do'nt worry, I've got the Big guy under control," Bruce reassures us. "I won't start smashing up the place."

"Loki," Bruce greets Loki wearily. "How are you these days?"

"I have been better," Loki admits.

"I can see that," Bruce agrees.

"So you are trying to contact Thor. I suppose I do'nt have to ask why. Thor left with Peter Quill and some of the others after the whole Thanos thing.

I have a way to contact them, but only in emergencies. I wanted to see what was going on with my own eyes first, it was hard to believe three random ladies would know anything about Loki. Especially since I last heard you were dead."

"this time, I am," Loki admits. "For now anyway.

I have spoken to our mother's spirit and she believes I can be restored to life. She also believes it is important I contact Thor.

Can you help us with that?"

"Yeah okay, this seems emergency enough. But it might take a while, he's not exactly nearby right now."

Digimon Tamers - Episode 24

This episode was fantastic, so many emotional moments. And we got a new ED (and slightly modified OP)! Going into this episode I was a little annoyed knowing they wouldn't actually be going to the digital world yet, but they did such a good job building up the hype that I think it ended up being very necessary to have one last human world episode. So pumped to see how the next arc plays out!

Notes:

When Takato is like "our town..." in the opening monologue does he mean Tokyo? Shinjuku? Just struck me as kind of funny to call that area a town, but what do I know

Seeing the various ways the kids tell their parents about their journey was super fascinating. I like how they all did it in different ways with varying levels of directness. Honestly I think the "I told them it's a school trip" option made the most sense to me. If this was real life there's no way in hell a parent would allow their 10 year old kid to go off into some dangerous, alien world.

Something about Jian's dad interacting with Terriermon is really cute. It would actually be cool to see a Digimon series with adults as the MCs since they have a different perspective on the world.

Juri mysteriously dodged the question about how she told her parents about the trip. I wasn't sure how to interpret that. Did she just not tell them at all? Does she actually not get along with them?

I think Ruki's departure from her family was probably the most interesting. Her grandma has this sort of sage understanding of the situation while her mom is blissfully unaware. The scene where Ruki dresses up for mom to leave her on a high note was really sad.

Suddenly Culumon is in a lantern-shaped cage. Lol where did that come from?

Some interesting Yamaki moments. I guess he's realized the error of his ways and is now on the kids' side? Kinda abrupt, but I can dig it. (Also, he was more handsome than usual this episode teehee)

The scene with the teacher was insane! The kids just flat out tell her they're leaving school and she's like "wtf?? what am I supposed to do with this knowledge!?" In America at least, teachers would probably be expected to report something like this, but they did already tell their parents so...I understand why this kind of breaks her. Like...how is she supposed to just carry on like normal? Moumantai my butt!

Takato's dad's support kinda had me sighing and rolling my eyes, but oh well. Can't project my real world context onto things I guess

^The appropriate reaction. I feel like if the parents had witnessed some digimon battles and saw what their kids were capable of, I might buy it a little more. But Takato's mom & dad just found out that Guilmon exists!

lol @ Shiuchon just kind of rolling with it when she finds out that Terriermon is real. It was nice to finally see them talk to each other. Hopefully Terriermon can set boundaries with her now when he gets back.

Yamaki at the end being like "I'm jealous" is the stand in for me, the 31 year old watching this and being like "why can't I be a 10 year old going on adventures instead of working my 9-5!"

So pleased that I'm watching this at the perfect time! They kept emphasizing how this is taking place at the end of summer. Love it when things work out that way.

Lots of insert songs this episode + the new ED. I can't wait to listen to them all on their own and soak in the lyrics. I like that the ED has a more mature, somber tone compared to the first one.

Side note: I've been calling Culumon "he," but then saw someone on MAL use "she." When I google it I found that Culumon is likely genderless (unfortunately I also saw some spoilers while googling boohoo). Guess I'll try to use "they" now...

2: I drink both tea and coffee, I prefer coffee tho, love my bean soup. I take it almost anyway that involves milk. Hot/Cold latte capp flat white. If it's good coffee I don't need sugar. My tea is just kinda english breakfast with milk. I like Spearmint as well.

7: Usually, the minimum possible. I live in a hot country and I NEED to be cool when I sleep. But during winter I like 2, because of the addition of a weighted blanket. I LOVE sleeping with a weighted blanket.

13: Abandonment is the biggest one, I have severe issues with being left behind, it happened alot growing up, I had a bunch of friends just exclude me or straight up ditch me. It has led to a terrible habit of overthinking every negative interaction, and thinking I have to be a "perfect" friend or else they won't want to be around me anymore. The other crippling fear is bees/wasps, I have such a fight or flight reaction with them, such an overwhelming fear for something so small. Maybe me being attacked/chased my wasps when I was small affected that.

17: I already have ear piercings, tho I only just got them a year ago after I started transitioning. This revealed that I can't easily get piercings because of the medication I am on, nor tattoos. Because they just won't heal. Either way I don't think I want anymore piercings, but I might just have to miss out on a tattoo :c

19: I have 3 people whom I consider best friends. Two of which I retained from primary school, and one I met early in high school. The high school one has become a brother to me. Which is funny to think that he only had sisters, then finally got me as his bro, then a few years ago I turned around and went "ummm, I'm a sister too actually." Gottem

23: Kind of yeah. I like to think there is some other life out there. (I mean of course right? Even if a planet that's livable like Earth is an incredibly rare thing it COULD happen more than once) BUT I think it might be more likely that we came about so early in the universe's life, that we could be long gone before another civilisation finds us.

29: I either make snap decisions without thinking about it, or if I do make the mistake of thinking about something too long, I'm stuck in an endless loop of indecision until I break down over it.

31: Distant future? God I don't like thinking ahead too much, I think because most of my life I've had nothing to look forward to I guess. In a couple of years I hope to have a permanent home and a pet again. Is that something?

37: Ahh the classic.. I grew up with both and really have no preference for either one. I am very playful with pets, so I would have an inclination towards dogs, but I can still grab my cat and wrestle it with my hand just as well. Plus both of them are capable of being cuddly, or even go off and do their own thing for a bit. I'll put it this way. If I am living alone, I'd prefer a cat, for more peace of mind and less maintenance.

41: I CANNOT PICK ONE FAVOURITE WTF! I'll list a few "winners" My fave recent one would be "The Owl House" My fave older one would be "Avatar: The Last Airbender" And My nostalgia pick would be "Teen Titans"

43: One younger sister. Bit of a rat, especially in her teen years but she's grown, gotten better. We are slowly rebuilding our relationship but I really struggle to trust those who have hurt me in the past. So while I don't know how she feels about me exactly, I kind of have her at arms length for a while.

I was bitching about the fight with Sephrioth earlier i had to go back and change the difficulty to easy. I don't know how the fuck your supposed to beat this game in hard mode. Remake was easy because it was more linear but this will be a challenge. I might not even do it lol.

I fucking loved this game, the only thing i wish was the ending was more true to the original. Its kind of a mess even more then in Remake. But taking that out this was truly the game i've been waiting 4 years for. It had me reacting in almost every cut scene, kinda wish my headphone mic would of been on because I was literally losing it at everything lmao. This game IS the reason why I got PS5, one of the reasons why I bawled my eyes out when I got dumped in 2021 because I wouldn't have a PS5 anymore to play this game LMAO (Thankfully I was able to buy one about 3 months after, didn't think I would ever get to).

I love the OG but I really loved seeing all the moments in HD and not in lego forms lol. Seeing Cloud being controlled by Sephrioth in modern graphics is really creepy and they did it so well in this game. I'm a big fan of Cloud and Tifa (If you didn't already know). I'm really happy what they did for these 2 in this game its just so good. I also think its strange that they made Cloud remember Zack. Before he only remembered him in the lifestream with Tifa. Also Zack did absolutely nothing why was he even on the cover art LMAO.

I was only introduced to FF7 in 2020 with Remake but this is my favourite series of all time. I don't want to play anything else and I said to myself I will probably stop gaming when part 3 comes out (Idk about that really but I literally don't care that much about any other new releases these days). And I see people say they don't even want to look at Remake anymore 😭 I just can't. It was the game that introduced me so it has a special place in my heart lmao.

I'm really sad that I beat it because I waited so long for it but it delivered in all areas for me so its kinda bittersweet. I can't wait to play part 3 when im 31 years old

Here is my absolutely irreverent and chock full of hyperbole, only nominally-guaranteed-accurate rendition of Silvio's event story.

So our story starts with Emma walking down the hall and being stopped by a very persistent aristocratic man she’s been dodging for days now - almost a dozen times now whenever she’s found herself alone he’s popped up, ‘coincidentally’, pestering her to have tea or spend time with him. 

He tries again today, stating how beautiful it is outside and how she should join him for tea. She tries to make her excuses, apologizing and saying she has a prior engagement, but this stalker says no, he knows that’s not true - she doesn’t have anything on her schedule, he’s already checked with the servants in court. 

She’s dismayed and also more than a bit wtf internally, when he presses her and says she doesn’t have any reason to hesitate so they should go. Takes her by the hand, making her skin sort of literally crawl, and tries to pull her off - only to be interrupted by a voice.

“Found you.”

Someone’s hand comes from behind and snags her, hauling her in…and she turns around to find, to her horror, that it’s Silvio there behind her. The tyrant himself, the last person she probably wants to see or have anything to do with because he is patently The Worst. 

She can tell already that today is going to be rough.

He’s got his arms around her from behind, caught up too in his fancy schmancy exotic cologne, when he scolds her for making a hassle of herself. She’s one part relieved to be rescued from the creepy aristo guy…and one part full of dread because it’s Silvio that’s saved her and she knows he is far faaaar from a nice man. 

He says with a smile how she’d already make a promise to him for the next while, and she’s blankly like….promise??? Prompting him to scowl at her before she’s all OH RIGHT RIIIIGHT THAT PROMISE RIGHT NOW YEP YEP. Realizing that maybe he’s trying to cover for her excuse to the aristocrat earlier. 

Silvio’s grinning, but then he turns to the aristocrat and brushes him off, stating he doesn’t know who the guy is but he shouldn’t dare touch someone else’s woman - specifically, this woman is his.

Timeline of the main story

I actually made this blog to share stupid trivia i find while translating, so stupid trivia you’re getting.

Youkaigakkou is actually surprisingly clear with what happens when, although im not sure if thats the case with all school life manga, since i dont read school life manga that much lol

this is gonna get long real fast, so everything is under the cut

April

Generally the school year starts at the beginning of April, but it doesn’t actually get any more specific than “April”

In yoseito ch 22, its april 18 on hatanaka’s 2nd day of school, so school started on April 17 for him. It also says 200X, and this is 9 years before yoseito, so 10 years before main story, which means the year timeframe is 2010 to 2019.

Chapter 4 (MIki’s lesson) happens at least a week after the start of school

Chapter 6: we get a calendar at the end of the chapter!!

pretty shite calendar. why aren’t the columns labelled. honestly not quite sure how to parse this.

i believe ch 7 (spooking lesson + haruaki goes home directly after) happens on may 1st

ch 8 and 9 (the gang goes to haruakis house) happens on may 2nd

the end of ch 9 is the next day and the train ticket says may 3rd

ch 10 (run melos) is a week before midterms, so like, mid may? idk

ch 11 (senseis sunday), pretty sure it’s may 26. see the next point

idk what this is called but ch 13 sure gives us this.

this would be 2013 or 2019, this kinda lines up bc this manga started in 2014

but also theres no world where this lines up with the calendar from above so whatever

ch 13 is sports day prep, which is may 31, friday

ch 14 to 16 is sports day itself, june 2, sunday

No specific dates for anything that happens in june (ch 16 to 19)

ch 19 (zashiki and co sneak into school at night) happens a week before end of term exams (early july), so like late june.

ch 20 (momoyama perfume) happens right before sano’s birthday! (july 7)

we dont actually get a chapter about sanos birthday. wtf

we get another timetable in ch21, but its the same one as the one above so im disregarding it. this is called reusing assets, a very smart move

ch 21 and 22 (karasutengu troupe introduction) happen on the same day as ch20, just in the afternoon

ch 23 (amaaki impersonation) happens after july 7, thats all i know

everything that happens in july is before the 20th, since thats when summer vacation starts.

a lot actually happens in that small timeframe

ch 26 (teacher trio go to kyoto + reminisce) happens some weekend

ch 28 to 30 (spookology camp) happens at some point, idk

ch 36 to 38 (lost in tokyo) happens a week before summer vacation starts

summer vacation should be july 20, but i cant be sure since it isnt mentioned in any chapter, but the timeframe is around there.

ch44 and 45 (beniko haunted house) is august 10, and it says “middle of summer vacation” so the start would be around july 20, yeah...?

ch 46 (beach episode) and ch47 to 49 (miki house) happen on the same day, not sure what day exactly tho.

ch50 (august 31) happens on august 31. shocking!

we also get this calendar.

which would be 2016, which.... wasnt even the year this chapter came out on. this chapter came out in like 2019

anyway, second term starts september 1, which we do get confirmation on in ch50.

ch51 (haru and sano get handcuffed together) happens 2 weeks into september

my mans, can you be less casual about predicting the future like that

ebisu came to hyakki at the very least around 2.5/3rd week of september, since the above is already 2 weeks into september, and in ch52 he says “starting next week”

the timeline’s surprisingly tight around this time, since

ch55 (part time job)

ch56 and 57 (culture festival discussion)

ch58 and 59 (youkai train)

all happen within a week or less, and they happen on different days

the culture festival (ch61 to 66) is two days, and happens around 22 to 23 september. the second day of the festival is the autumn equinox/ohigan, which is 23 or 22 september depending on the year

the whole of the renren arc (ch 67 to 77) happens in one day

this one day is actually really tight. in ch67 u can see a clock, i do believe this is around 1:40pm and not 8am

and then another clock in ch70, which is 5:50pm. this is after haruaki was trying to come up w a plan for 2 hours and then actually executing his genius social media slander plan

and then this

and then the whole ordeal actually goes all night, and ends at sunrise

October

Unclear when exactly the school trip happens, but its sometime in october.

ch 83 until ch 90 (so far) has been the 2nd day of their 4D3N trip......

also, a fun bit of trivia:

ebisu’s festival is 20th october, so even when all the other gods are gone for kannazuki, ebisu is still available for worship in october.

the fact that the mangaka managed to line up the exact right characters and situation for this to happen and this detail to be relevant is kinda impressive.

hmm. in recent history i think it's a profound shame that Nope (2021) was completely shut out from the most recent academy awards. movie of the year in MY eyes. and All the Beauty and the Bloodshed should have won best documentary. Naomi Watts' performance in Mulholland Dr. (2001) is oscar-worthy to me. in part of my googling to find out if movies i like have been nominated for anything i came to find out that Heat (1995) was not nominated for a single academy award??? which is blasphemous i think

ok even though i technically answered this one already there are so many more weird movies i have seen so i will gladly talk about another. i went to see a film called Sometimes Aunt Martha Does Dreadful Things (1971) at a little arthouse theater near me back in february because i thought 'funny that this place is playing some sleazy 70s trash horror movie i would probably like' and OH BOY that movie is a wild ride. imagine if you will john waters and herschell gordon lewis got together and made a hippie-sploitation slasher with some melodrama leanings that was left to simmer in the florida everglades. there's some super wacky psychedelic editing choices in the killing scenes that really took me out. overall just a weird little gem that i haven't seen many people talk about so i thought this was a good opportunity to mention it >:)

john cassavetes' A Woman Under the Influence (1974) because i know it will ruin me emotionally. i've been putting off watching Martyrs (2008) for ages because even though i like gory bloody movies i fear that one is a whole other level of intensity. and i've never seen the original Friday the 13th (1980), which is big for 80s horror and horror franchises (both of which i enjoy) but it truly just looks so boring to me i've just watched most of the other films from that period around it instead lol
