Would an andalite be able to fight an xenomorph?

I'm going to say yes, for one key reason: andalites' tails can break the sound barrier. Alloran is described as cracking his tail like a bullwhip (#54). The end of Alloran's tail — i.e. the pointy part — would have to be moving at well over 700 MPH to make that sound. Xenomorphs, on the other hand, are described as moving at a "sprint that few Earth-based animals could have outrun" (X). That means at least one Earth animal can outrun a xenomorph. Since peregrines can't run, I assume the upper limit is with cheetahs, and thus xenomorphs' top speed is less than cheetahs' 70 MPH.

Obviously running speed isn't striking speed, but I'm not convinced xenos strike much faster than that — humans are able to dodge them, and they're not blurred when moving onscreen. So assume xenos top out at ~65 MPH, andalites at ~800 MPH. Alloran could probably dice up a xeno in the time one took to attempt one bite of him. Since Elfangor can tail-fight circles around Alloran (AC), it'd be no contest.

But I keep saying Alloran, and not Ax. Because AFAIK, we don't get mention of Ax's tail making that bullwhip sound. Ax is probably still faster than a xenomorph — Cassie notes his tail moves faster than a human eye can follow (#4), and Tobias realizes andalite tail-fighting is so fast a human mind can't follow (#33) — but he's slower than Alloran, since kid gets his butt kicked when he goes tail-to-tail with Visser Three (#18, etc). Ax takes on a friggin T. rex and wins (MM2), so he's no slouch, but he's the first to admit he's no Elfangor. So it might, somewhat, depend on the andalite.

I didn't even make the connection at first between Deborah's father being an alcoholic and Deborah abusing alcohol herself after abandoning her lifelong dream. Her going back to her old (often hacky) material to fuel her other addiction (getting laughs, as DJ puts it) without moving forward by writing new material with Ava . And the fact that late night was the very thing that helped her cope with her father's alcoholism as a child… the more you think about it, the more fucked up it is.

Love how Murderbot starts the book off with "I could have become a mass murderer after I hacked my governor module" only to go on to reveal that it had been forced to be a mass murderer BEFORE hacking its governor module, and the reason WHY it had hacked its governor module was to prevent itself from ever having to do that ever again.

Like. "I could have filled my house with noxious gas after I made sure there was no way for me to get gassed from the outside. But I decided to just watch TV instead." Incredible.

the whole "it would be kinder to kill them" exchange re-contextualizes murderbot's initial willingness-- even eagerness-- to kill other SecUnits in an interesting way, doesn't it.

I was thinking about "Princess-coded" characters, and by extension Aelita. And I'm thinking Franz/Waldo almost kinda made his daughter a god?

At least the potential is there.

We don't really see Aelita do anything that crazy with the super computer, but Aelita is one of the few beings who can theoretically make full use of the computer.

And the things we do see the computer do are wild. Turn off gravity and heat on earth, and of course return to the past for example. The supercomputer literally gives someone the power to play god. If someone with malicious intent got full control of the computer the results would be devastating. And Aelita technically has that power.

If Lyoko was written a bit less episodically and with more of an interest in examining the implications of its worldbuilding I think there could be room fro a story about what it means to be human/transcending humanity. A story where in Waldo's desperation to save his daughter he literally deifies her, chains her to the fate of reality itself and the implications thereof. Don't get me wrong I enjoy it as is, but stuff like this is why I keep thinking about this show. Granted Aelita's storyline already does touch on aspects of this with Aelita not considering herself human and her horror at what her father did to her life at points. And well, of course the only reason Aelita IS involved in all of this is because of her father.

Garage kids had the kids retain their Lyoko powers in their day to day life, and while I think understand WHY they changed that, from a worldbuilding perspective there is no real reason they don't. After all the super computer already gives them the ability to remember rttp and a resistance to Xanas influence. Irl powers really isn't far out of the realm of possibility. An Aelita with Creation in her day to day life would not be something to be trifled with.

On a totally unrelated note, we know how easy it was for Aelita's very life to become entangled with the computer itself, dying if anything happened to the computer. And with the computers influence on the world, how easy would it have been for the whole world's existence to have become entangled with the computers continued existence.
