Writing Notes: The Research Process
Research is an essential process to keep yourself informed on any topic with reliable sources of information.
Research - the process by which you gather reliable information on a specific topic, typically to answer a particular question, form an opinion, or make a decision.
Academics often separate research into 2 distinct types:
primary research (in which the researcher acquires firsthand experience with the topic) and
secondary research (in which the researcher looks at research others have done on the topic).
There are many different research methods, including:
internet research (using search engines, webpages, and other online resources),
scientific research (using the scientific method to test hypotheses),
local and university library research (using books, encyclopedias, newspaper articles, peer-reviewed journal articles, catalogs, and academic databases and directories), and
interviews (using questionnaires and discussions with subjects).
How to Research
The research process can apply to everything from a scientific research paper to a personal question; each type of research has different expectations and processes. In general, here’s a step-by-step tutorial:
Start with a question. The first step of the research process is to have a question. In the case of academic research, your research question might be on a broad conversation in your field. For example, in humanities, a research question might be: “How did feminism affect American literature in the 1970s?” In the case of personal research, your question might be smaller and more specific: “How do I wake up feeling more rested?” If your research is for a high school or college paper, you might need to brainstorm to come up with a question or move on to the research phase to see what kinds of questions and broad topics interest you.
Search broadly. Your preliminary research on a topic is likely to be general—this search strategy enables you to gather as much general information surrounding the topic as possible. This helps you develop a clearer sense of the scope of your question. In the case of academic research, you might read widely (in topics like feminism, the 1970s, and American literature). In the case of personal research, you might conduct general internet searches for secondary sources that discuss related topics (like alarm clocks, pillows, and meditation techniques).
Narrow your focus. As you conduct research, pay attention to the moments that pique your interest—use them to determine where to conduct more in-depth research. Perhaps a specific novelist seems especially interesting, or you find yourself more drawn to alarm clocks than memory-foam pillows. It is at this stage you should also take time to evaluate the information sources you’ve found to make sure they’re reliable and unbiased.
Conduct specific research. Once your question begins to narrow, you might need to do additional research to hone in on your particular topic. Look around to see if other researchers have had similar questions and published or posted their findings. Alternatively, you might do some primary research and begin testing particular hypotheses. For an academic research paper, it is at this stage you likely have enough information to begin crafting your thesis statement or central claim.
Complete the project. The final stage of the research process is to complete your research project—this might mean writing a final paper, forming a particular opinion, or purchasing a specific solution for your problem. For research that involves writing and publishing a paper, the researcher must also abide by rules of plagiarism, citation information and formats—such as the Modern Language Association (MLA), American Psychological Association (APA), Chicago, and so forth. Even though this is the final step of the research process, it doesn’t mean the project is closed forever—you might find later you need or want to do follow-up research as the topic or your interests change.
Research is a vital process that increases your knowledge and understanding around a topic, rather than forcing you to rely on simply your own background information. Good research allows you to become more informed before you answer a question, to consider all angles before you form an opinion, and to use the experience of others before you make a decision.

BEFORE YOU SEND YOUR ASK:
we believe noel & liam/oasis' breakup was an incredibly complex situation comprised of decades of mutual micro- and macro-aggressions that finally came to an ultimate head, resulting in a separation that was painful for both of them. as far as we know there is no single grand reason they split up. we believe they have truly loved all their individual partners before and after their separation, and in varying ways and degrees love(d) each other. we are not #team either of them, as their relationship is far too tangled and intricate to choose sides. we do not subscribe to soap opera-level conspiracies — we approach all speculation with awareness of the many nuances of what it is to be human (which, against all odds, they are). and finally, we do not know them or have any behind the scenes information that cannot be discovered through public research.
we get a lot of anons, and even though there are three of us running this blog we don't have time to get to all of them. we tend to prioritise ones that ask questions we can actually answer, suggest interesting ideas, or engage in good faith fandom fun. if we don't answer yours, it's probably not personal!

DPXDC FENTONS IN GOTHAM AND MISCELLANEOUS
TITLE/LINK RATING COMPLETED-WORD-COUNT SERIES
DP FIC REC HOME POST
let me know if the links aren't working and feel free to suggest any
FENTONS WORKING IN GOTHAM
Stalling T 2,363
Just a perfectly normal conversation between Arkham's newest psychiatrist, and its most troublesome resident. In the staff parking lot. During a jailbreak. How she walks out of this alive is a question even the Batman himself wants answered.
Who's Afraid Of Who? G 611 SERIES
Someone gives Jazz the wrong interrogation room number. Now she goes to visit a certain Dr. Crane...The station officers realize the error in the files when visiting the other resource, 1 hour later it's too late. By the time they arrive at the interrogation room, they find...Dr Jasmine Nightingale became an expert on the mind to help people. That included almost all of Gotham's worst offenders. Dr Crane, aka Scarecrow, is about to find out more first hand.
Danny The Intern T
Danny decided to intern at Wayne Enterprise. He's always so helpful, and polite, and gets the job done. He gets REALLY confused when his co-workers start acting weird: they would either pull him into another room; or make him do some outlandish task so far away, or a group of people suddenly surround him. It’s as if they are trying to hide him from someone. Meanwhile, there is an unspoken agreement amongst the employees: Rule #4: DO NOT LET ANY WAYNES SEE HIM. Otherwise, they are going to lose their most helpful intern (and hopefully a permanent employee) because of those damn Wayne’s adopting addictions. Though of course, it wasn’t long until they messed up Rule #4.
Trivia Night G
Danny gets a job at some underground bar as one of the tenders there. The problem? He wasn’t informed that Gotham’s most dangerous villains would frequently go out for drinks, using said bar to do so. And naturally, through the power of tired college student and brunt-out hero, he manages to gain favor of all of them. So much so that they begin including him on planning heists, kidnappings, etc
Just Another ̶L̶A̶ Gotham Devotee~ T
Danny didn't expect much after leaving Amity and his vigilante career for a job at Wayne Tech R&D. All he wanted was a decent roof over his head, non ecto-contaminated food in his fridge, and maybe to stop getting thrown into buildings so often. Hell, he'd even negotiate that last point if it kept the Bats of his back. Unfortunately, fate has never been kind. Ancients, he needs a vacation.
Specter Of The Month T
Far from Amity and those who'd follow, Danny does the only sensible option to make money and watch over his sister. Apply to become an Arkham Asylum security guard. When breakout rates drop and Penguin's released spouting rumors of a ghost haunting BlackGate, a certain Tim Drake grows curious.
Gotham's Ghostly Bartender T
Danny after revealing to his parents he is Phantom and taking his place as King of the Infinite Realms, decides to try his luck as human opening a nightclub in Gotham. It´s going great until he attracts the attention of the Bats because he can´t help going feral on the Joker everytime he finds him on the city
Help! My Teacher's A Mad Scientist NR
wherein Danny is a metalwork teacher at Gotham academy and ends up subbing for Tim's chemistry class. Measurements are just suggestions.
Pitch-Dark Shades T
Danny Fenton is trying to build a new life in Gotham after closing up the connections to the Ghost Zone. Not that all connections are entirely broken, still being able to perceive shades and give them strength when he connects to one of their prized objects. Tim Drake is trying to find his own place in the world, focusing on becoming a better detective by solving cold cases in his spare time. When Tim and Danny meet, a new (begrudging) partnership starts to bloom to solve even the hardest of cases. Or it would if only they told each other the truth.
New Job, Who's This? T 8,000 SERIES
Danny has an interview with the Engineering Team at Wayne Enterprises. He gets a job, but not where he expected.
Those Who Serve. T
Alfred Pennyworth sees a homeless teen who looks like he'd fit right into the Wayne family and decides to take matters into his own hands. It's not like he's just going to leave this very sad, possibly meta teenager alone when there's more than enough space in the Manor to house one more child in need.
A Matter Of Opinion M 13,096
Jasmine Fenton goes down a different path in her attempt to care for her brother. Unfortunately, she could not stop her parents from taking her brother apart. Now, his core is slowly rebuilding his body from infancy, and someone has to pay for letting the Anti-Ecto Acts exist. When she bites off more than she can chew, she learns how to grow bigger teeth, and hunts down bigger prey.
The Curious Case Of D. Grayson T
Dick Grayson gets a job in Wayne Industries as an electrical engineer, or so is the word. Except it's not Dick who gets the job but Danny Grayson, half ghost and professional disaster. Of course, because nothing is ever easy for Danny, the world mistakes him for the prolific first child of Bruce Wayne and therefore rumours start Dick Grayson got married in secret. What could possibly go wrong, am I right?
Penny Two T 6,822
Alfred decides to hire Danny Fentom as an assistant butler. Bruce is uncertain about having a new person in his house.
He Can See Ghosts Because He’s A Medium, Obviously NR SERIES
But no, what convinced him he’s in a different dimension are the ghosts. They’re nothing like the ghosts from the infinite realms, more like stereotypical ghosts kids who were raised normally believe in. The ones no one can see except in the flickering of lights, something falling when it shouldn’t, a strange noise or even sometimes a shadowy figure. But not for Danny, cause of course he can’t be normal. To him these ghosts look like every other living person around him. Or Danny gets trapped in the DC universe, specifically Gotham, and decides since he can see ghosts here he may as well use it. Or or Danny the medium!
Ghost In The Morgue M
There's something off about the new Medical Examiner for the Gotham City Police Department. Danny Fenton, now working for the G.C.P.D. is good at his job. Very good. His reports are always done promptly and accurately. Scarily accurate. His "unofficial reports" even more so, listing details the medical examiner shouldn't know. He's an oddity, and oddities in Gotham attract Bats.
Mondays, Am I Right? T 2,681 SERIES
There was a long silence. He heard his sister breathe in, breathe out, like she was mentally preparing herself to say something. “I… I heard, from other interns I talked to, that guard positions are always open. And that it’s super easy to get in.”
Unnerving T
There's a new doctor at Arkham Asylum, and with the new doctor came a new security guard. Or, Jazz decided to work in Arkham and now it's everyone's problem.
Arkham Phantom: The Cryptic Security Guard NR
Danny becomes a security guard at Arkham.
Graveyard Shift NR
He moved slowly through the dark hall as the alarms blared and flashed, his eyes cutting through the dark. Where. Where did he go? He pauses at a sound, glancing down the left hall as a masked group crouches and goes still. Not paying them any mind, he pays more attention to the blue smoke that finds its way out his throat, curling around his face before trailing off down the hall. He starts walking again. He has someone to find. With barely a thought he slowly fades from the visible spectrum as he continues down the straight hall.
Shrike T
Danny Fenton starts a new life in Gotham but ghosts keep following him, forcing him to return as Phantom to try and keep them in control. The Bats are trying to hunt down the new meta due to the destruction he causes. In his civilian life, Danny finds himself being questioned about his background and knowledge of technology when he wins a full ride scholarship and fellowship from Wayne Enterprises. Both sides of his life ends crumbling before him.
DANNY IN GOTHAM
Wait, I'm A What? T
after Clockwork dropped of Danny in Gotham he tries to make the best out of the situation which includes helping out some people. Except along the way that led to rumors that he was an up-and-coming crime boss. A rumor he was largely unaware of.
Wait! I’m A Cartoon Over Here!?! T
A new vigilante group had been working the rounds. Every rogue or villain they came across for the past week got defeated in seconds. Bruce has been aging like a fly due to the stress of trying to catch them. Everyone else wishes to meet and get their autographs. While Damian and Dick can’t figure out why this group's actions, tools, and abilities feel so familiar. That is until Damian gets saved by a teen with snow-white hair and glowing green eyes. Damian just got saved by a cartoon character Dick and he watches regularly. Meanwhile, Danny and the gang got dumped into the DC Universe. They are familiar with the comics, shows, and movies, they know what’s up, and they can survive! They plan not to draw too much attention. Maybe help a person here or there? get an autograph or ten? But, definitely find a way back home. That plan fails immediately, and now, they’re a vigilante group with a dumb name. But, as long as they stay in the shadows, they should be fine! That all changes when Danny saves Robin and learns something very important yet terrifying.
Cry Of The Mourning Dove T
Danny's made it this far from Amity. An alley way, somewhere in Gotham city. He had a goal, but he's so injured... He's not sure he's gonna find who he needs to find. Red Robin and Red Hood find him first. A kid. Bleeding green. With Bruce Wayne's face.
Bus To Nowhere T
Is it running from your problems if your problems consider you to be a dead imprint of consciousness that killed their son? Yes, but Danny tries not to think about how his nightmares of his parents trying to kill him came true when they found out he was Phantom. After being on the run from his parents and the government for a couple of months, moving from town to town, Danny ends up in Gotham City and decides to risk staying in Batman's territory. He'd take the wrath of Batman over live vivisection via beloved parents or being studied and torn apart by the government. Besides, he's not a meta. Being dead is a medical condition.
Change In Management T SERIES
Desperate for energy to sustain herself and her city, Gotham tries to consume Phantom but loses and instead bequeaths her mantle to him as she destabilizes. This has some interesting consequences as Danny now finds himself inexplicably linked to a crime-ridden city in another dimension.
In The Dead Of Night T
Danny's life has never been normal. One night he is thrust into a situation he never wanted and certainly didn't ask for. Now lost, alone, and injured in an unfamiliar city, he must rely on the help of strangers in the forms of Gotham City's vigilantes, and the family of Bruce Wayne. In order to survive and keep himself out of the hands of an insane cult that is desperately seeking out a power far greater than anyone should have.
Thirty-Odd Days Of Chasing An Enigma T
Danny and the Batfam play hide and seek and tag, all on the palm of Danny's hand, while he tries to gain some much needed balance after a reveal gone bad.
Anarchic T 5,585 SERIES
Danny Fenton is set free on another world, he really should've taken the "No consequences" claim with a pinch of salt
Hatred At First Sight G 1,304
The residence of Gotham were used to rogue attacks and most didn't bat an eye to the extravagance that was the Joker even as everyone watching as he live filmed his assault on the bank in a numb kind of horror that you could only acquire through exposure. He was holding a bunch of hostages, asking the watchers what he should do with them with a wide unhinged smile and maliciously gleeful eyes that watched his many victims squirm in terror. Until he looked at the skrunky kid in a ratty hoodie that looked like he could be a Wayne adoptee. And both froze for a good minute. And like some kind of demented switch got flipped the kid snarled and (still with his hands tied behind his back mind you) launched himself at the Joker.
Danny's Guide To Not Dying Alone On The Street G
After his parents chase him out of the city, Danny finds his way to Gotham to stay out of the eye of the GIW or any other ghost hunters who might be interested in him. After he accidentally shows his powers in a very public setting, can he avoid the ghosts of his past and the ever-increasing number of Gotham Vigilantes interested in him?
Run Ghost Run NR
Danny escaped from the GIW and his parents, but he had to keep running. If those in the infinite realm found out what happened war would happen. Clockwork said to follow the birds and bats whatever that means. For now, he would just hide in Gotham. No one would look for him there.
Gotham's Haunted G
Five times Danny Surprised a Batkid and that one time he was forcefully adopted by Bruce Wayne.
No Laughing Matter NR
Danny kills the Joker, not knowing of the kill switch set to release Joker gas the moment Jokers heart stops beating
Taking Flight T
Danny decides to tell his parents the truth. It doesn't go so hot. Fleeing Amity Park for his life he decides Gotham is the best place to fall through the cracks. Sadly as a black-haired blue-eyed teen with a strong sense of morality the adoption papers were half filled out. Unfortunately for Bruce, Danny has a thing about rich guys with secret identities who want to adopt him.
Death Is Not The Enemy T
Danny gets summoned into a new universe, makes some friends, becomes part of the most powerful vigilante clan ever, punches a bunch of satanists, finds the meaning of family and gets a chance at dreaming big. Definitely not in that order
Concession To Realism G
Clockwork sends Danny to a universe where he'll be safe until he can take up the mantle of Ghost King, a dimension far away from the Fentons and other ghost hunters. Danny is less than thrilled, especially when he starts developing a soft spot for some local bats.
And So It Ghost T 65,805 SERIES
When Danny Fenton is invited to a Technology Fair in Gotham he hopes it will help open doors to a good college. What he doesn't expect is an attack by a technology obsessed ghost, or a visit from the Batman himself. Can Danny keep his identity a secret while also scoring a spot at Gotham University? Or will everything come crashing down around his ears like usual?
MISC
A Vigilante A Day Keeps The Government Away M 11,158
Lucius Fox gets a phone call he'd never expected from a source even more unexpected. Now, he's got to figure out what to do with a betrayed child, a traumatized nephew, a protective son, and an adoption-prone Bat.
I Can Be Both Even If It's Hard (And It's Hard) G 52,999 SERIES
Sam and Tucker ran to get Jazz and didn't see Danny come out of the portal. By the time they return Danny has transformed back. This changes things.
-=INSERT TERM=- T
“It's probably just identity theft” Tim looked up from his laptop in the corner as he said it, a courtesy Jason didn't return. “Maybe” he sighed, reading through the document in front of him again. Apparently a kid had cashed in his government trust fund, two years after his death. “I don't know why you care” Tim continued, returning to his screen. Originally Jason hadden’t, had even been offended when Bruce handed him the file with instructions to ‘look into this’. However, the more he did look into it, the more he realised this wasn’t really about the trust fund at all.
Dull Residue Of What Once Was (A Shattered Cloud Of Swirling Doves) T SERIES
Danny didn't expect to become Ghost King. He definitely didn't expect or want to become a target for summoning because of it. He's pretty annoyed at this point. But hey, at least he gets to meet some of his favorite heroes! The Batclan meets King Phantom. It's very alarming.
Of Course It's A Cult T 2,696 SERIES
Danny did not sign up for kingship. Nor did he sign up for random summons by crazy cult people. Fortunately, the sacrifices for this one are still alive and are slightly familiar.
The Historian NR SERIES
I have even documented some stories claiming that the Bat is a living person. Of course, these claims are preposterous and should be immediately discounted. What living person would willingly choose to dress as a bat to fight crime?
Dead Men Don't Bleed M
Dead men don't bleed. When the body begins to break down, the blood settles and congeals in the veins, clotting and preventing them from being able to bleed like the living. This, of course, isn't an issue, so long as your corpse stays dead.
Tape 01 NR
Daniel "Danny" James Fenton wasn't just a normal young adult and while everyone seemed to accept this fact, nobody was able to understand it. That's the point, where all his problems started to evolve into something much bigger. So nobody noticed when he disappeared...
When The Clown No Longer Laughed M SERIES
Things have been going well for Arkham Asylum. There haven't been any breakouts in a while, a new team of Psychologists are starting to make a breakthrough with the residents, and Gotham is starting to heal. But with the recent suicide of one Mr. Freeze, Batman decides to look into what is happening in Arkham Asylum. Dr. Penelope Spectra talks about the good she is doing for the inmates, and how they are finally being rehabilitated. But Batman knew something was deeply wrong. When the Clown no longer laughed.
Time Traveler Code G 1,486
Danny has to (re)introduce himself to Batman and his family after meeting them in the alternate Dan future. He has a few other big pieces of information to break to them, too

How to answer tough interview questions.
Subscribing to the Harvard Business Review was one of the best decisions I made. I have learned so much about career development, personal branding, and job crafting. This article summarizes some of the questions you will get asked in a behavioral interview (courtesy of HBR) and I have included my responses to all of them. Assume I am seeking a HR role in a Fortune 500 company
Tell me about yourself and describe your background in brief?
How did you hear about this position?
What type of work environment do you prefer?
How do you deal with pressure or a stressful situation?
Do you prefer working independently or on a team?
How do you keep yourself organized when balancing multiple projects?
What did you do in the last year to improve your knowledge?
Tell me about yourself and describe your background in brief?
I grew up in small country in West Africa. I went to a great school through scholarship with the condition that I would pay it forward to the younger generation. So, after high-school I spent two years teaching math to elementary school kids. It was there I discovered my interest of people development. I enjoyed taking a kid from "I don't like math to can I get more homework? When I moved to the U.S for college I chose to study Psychology with a minor in Organizational Development. And my internship as a Human Capital Manager has allowed me to further develop my communication and leadership skills.
How did you hear about this position?
I learned about this position through Stacy Williams. She was one of the panelists on the fireside chat I convened in my school on the importance of women in leadership positions. I followed up with her through a coffee chat. She really enjoyed her job and the company culture. Her enthusiasm about her work encouraged me to apply and I am really excited to be going through the interview process.
What type of work environment do you prefer?
I thrive in environments where I am constantly learning. A place where each days brings a fresh set of challenges that I can solve. I also like working with teams where we can collaborate on tasks and brainstorm solution-oriented ideas. In my former internship I worked with an incredible team as a project manager in the human resources division and I worked on certain projects where I had full creative control on the outcome. I enjoyed the balance of both.
How do you deal with pressure or a stressful situation?
Stressful situations are inevitable and I learned to navigate them successful throughout my college career and my various internships. The first time I came across a stressful situation was in my Sophomore year. I worked as a customer service representative at a big department store and it was holiday season. You can imagine the amount of pressure - long lines of customers all waiting to get attended too. Instead of succumbing to the pressure I made sure to really understand the pain point of each customer which were long wait times and stock outs. If we were out of one brand of sparkling water, I would quickly recommend a different brand. If lines were long, I would go to the floor to help the bagging process. Customers left feeling satisfied with their shopping experience. Overtime, I have realized that the key to dealing with pressure is willingly choosing to complete the tasks with a positive mindset instead of worrying.
Do you prefer working independently or on a team?
I like a mix of both. I enjoy working on a team. The process of strategizing with my teammates on the best way to approach a problem allows for critical analysis and diverse points of view. Wh I also build camaraderie and trust with them while we tackle big problems. I enjoy working alone as well because I get to see how I approach different problems and compare my current performance to my previous ones. Working alone also gives me an opportunity to get feedback from my managers on my progress or areas of improvement. I like a balance of both.
How do you keep yourself organized when balancing multiple projects?
I am used to working on multiple projects. A typical semester for me is juggling between my classes, weekend job, extracurricular activities, and passion projects. So to stay on top of my deadlines and due dates I like to prioritize my tasks based on their level of urgency and importance. I use the time blocking method to schedule time for my projects. I take advantage of tools like Google calendar to keep track of due dates and appointments and Notion to manage big projects.
What did you do in the last year to improve your knowledge?
Last summer, I took some time off to really learn about veganism. It seemed intimidating at first because I did not know enough. So I turned to research to understand the facts. I began making home-cooked meals by following recipes from people I trusted and liked on YouTube. As I began noticing changes in my gut health and productivity levels, I started a blog to share my experiences. Now my blog has over 500 enthusiastic vegans who are on the same journey as I am. it was one of the best investment I made in myself.

So the votes came in, and as promised, the Fallout variant of Del for the Del-verse DEE, the (semi) super mutant! This is actually a pt.1 of 2 because another idea for a Fallout Del came to be in the process that works in parallel, so you lucky bunch get 2 Del's for the price of one!
And obligatory ref sheet for Dee and her best pal in the world, Rolls!

[D] "Hello [REDACTED] Hows [REDACTED]?"
[???] "no formalities, please, Doctor. This is a report, not a casual chit-chat. Let us start with Subject D.31, who were they, and why were they picked for projects D.31-A and D.31-B"?
[D] "Oh, right, of course, god forbid we act like people in this place. But, yes, right, straight to business. Let me go on record to remind everyone this project was over 20 years in the making with plenty of oversight, so I refuse to take the blame for D.31-A and B's cost and actions."
[???] "Answer the question, Doctor Langstrum"
[D] "Fine!- Fine. During my early tenure as the Senior Head of the Bio Division, I inherited a task to find suitable host subjects that showed signs of advanced evolution on the surface. Whilst [REDACTED] was busy trying to look for Vaults, I focused on the livestock not on ice."
"After a few years of blood testing, we eventually came across subject D.31. A 'raider' with an unfathomable resistance to radiation without grotesque mutation. Truly an anomaly of evolution, which we believe could unlock the secrets of radiation immunity. In principle." "After 'acquiring' the D.31 we transported her back to the institute and kept her body in cryogenic storage for future study and experimentation. Since then she has been the base DNA code for various projects and studies."
[???] "In this stage of the interview, I'd like us to focus on subject D.31-B, the 'Semi-Super mutant'?"
[D] "I resent that name! Our project far exceeds the original, there is nothing sub par-. Hmph, let me exsplain. The F.E.V virus (Forced Evolution Virus) left to run rampant on the surface only served to create powerful, idiotic monsters. Our Institute variant, the I.F.E.V was designed to improve on the formula using D.31's DNA to create 'Super Drones'." "By limiting their strength, increasing their endurance, allowing for a moderate intellect and mental programming, we would be able to prepare ourselves for the future! Imagine a workforce that is compliant, invulnerable to radiation, able to consume toxic food, strong enough to cultivate the land, clean up the pollution and build cities to our specifications! They would prepare the surface for the humanities future population"
[???] "This project is a recent project correct?"
[D] "Yes, at least one that has taken over 20 years to refine"
[???] "And how many of these "Super Drones" have been produced?"
[D] "...one"
[???] "One?"
[D] "It is still in its infancy. Our first trial subject, subject D.31-B, is still above us now, and we are still collecting data."
[???] "Tell me more about D.31-B"
[D] "D.31-B is the I.F.E.V built clone of subject D.31, who remains in cryo-stasis. With her DNA, we were able to create D.31-B and use her underlining consciousness to build the basic cognitive functions."
[???] "So D.31-B shares memories with D.31?"
[D] "Oh no, no, no, no, that would be catastrophic, we learnt our lesson with D.31-A. D.31-B's memories of her original source are removed, leaving only the basics intact, talking, eating, sleeping, so on, and with our programming, she was ready to get to work immediately after deployment."
[???] "How has D.31-B's progress been so far?"
[D] "Very good in fact. We left her to wander in a safe and isolated part of the commonwealth, and immediately she began to gather resources, build shelter and even cultivate land. All without any prompting or instruction, as she was programmed to do. Granted, her physical appearance has gotten her into trouble with people on the surface, being a mutant and all, but she's proven to be combat effective enough to stay alive." "Interestingly, she is now travelling with a companion as their follower, only reaffirming her subservient nature to help rather than follower her own goals. She even has a name, 'Dee', which I imagine is after the brand-code marking on her arm"
[???] "How is that not a security risk in and of itself, Doctor?
[D] "That's the beauty of our programming! Despite the obvious clue to her origins, she actively ignores it at every step. In a few more months we may even have a case to pitch this to the board for a full rollout."
[???] "Hmph, indeed. Thank you Doctor, that's everything I need for now regarding D.31, and D.31-B. Now, I'd like to turn our attention to the next topic of this interview. D.31-A. The Proptype."
[D] "... It's been 10 years [REDACTED], Sure they are a problem but, if they haven't found us by now then the-" [ Interview end ]

You, me and Vegas! Part 4

Warning- Fluff, little angst, job rejection.
Bucky fidgeted nervously in the waiting area of the office building. The air of the room was thick with anticipation. He adjusted his tie, tried to smoothen out the wrinkles in his suit, and kept running through potential questions and answers in his mind.
Each minute felt like an eternity as he waited for his name to be called. His heart thumped loudly in his chest, a heavy reminder of the weight of this interview.
Other candidates sat in nearby chairs, some of them exuding confidence and calm, others mirroring Bucky's nervousness. He couldn't help but glance at them occasionally, wondering how they managed to keep their cool while he felt like he was about to vibrate out of his skin.
A man, who looked like the human resources manager, suddenly stepped out of a room and looked around the waiting area. “James Barnes?” he called out, his voice slicing through the tension.
The manager gave him a once-over, his gaze taking in Bucky's appearance. “Right, follow me.” he said, gesturing for Bucky to follow him into the room.
Bucky inhaled a deep breath and followed the HR manager, the sound of his heart beating in his ears growing louder with each step. The moment of truth was here. He just hoped he could pull this off and get the job.
The HR manager led Bucky to a small but tidy office. The manager gestured to a chair in front of a desk and settled himself behind it. “Please, sit down.” he said, his tone polite yet firm.
Bucky complied, his eyes darting around the room, taking in the diplomas and degrees hung on the walls. He perched on the edge of the chair, his hands gripping the arms tightly.
The manager picked up a file that was on his desk, flipping through it briefly. “So, Mr. Barnes,” he began, looking up at Bucky. “Tell me a little bit about yourself.”
This was it, the dreaded question. Bucky swallowed, his mind momentarily blank. He took another deep breath, attempting to steady his voice. “Well, I've worked in the renovation field for about six years now,” he started, his voice a little hoarse but regaining strength as he continued. “I'm good with my hands, I've worked on both small and large-scale projects...”
The interview proceeded, the manager asking a series of questions, each one meticulously designed to assess Bucky's skills, experience, and aptitude for the job. Bucky, despite his initial nervousness, found himself answering as honestly and confidently as he could, his years of experience coming through in his responses.
After a series of questions, the HR manager placed his pen down on the table. “Mr. Barnes, you have impressive credentials, but I must ask, why did you leave your last job?”
Bucky tensed at the question, expecting it but still not quite prepared. He had anticipated this question and had spent time thinking of an answer that wouldn't make him seem unprofessional or unreliable.
Taking a moment to gather his thoughts, he responded. “There were... some disagreements with the management there,” he chose his words carefully. “I believe the work environment wasn't the best fit for me.”
Bucky, after answering the final question, felt a mix of relief now that the interview was over and a pang of disappointment, waiting for the result. The HR manager looked at him apologetically.
“Mr. Barnes, I must say, you have some remarkable skills and experience,” he began, a hint of regret in his voice. “Unfortunately, for this job, we will be going with a different candidate who better fits the role.”
Peach stood outside the courthouse, waiting for Bucky to arrive after his job interview. Seeing him emerge from his car, across the street, she saw the look on his face even from afar. His shoulders were slumped, his expression despondent. It was clear the interview hadn't gone well.
She watched as Bucky made his way over to her, his steps slow and heavy. As he approached, she noticed the defeated look in his eyes. He didn't even need to say anything. The disappointment was written all over his face.
“Hey,” she greeted, trying to sound casual, though concern was evident in her voice. “How'd the interview go?”
Bucky let out a heavy sigh. “Didn't get the job,” he replied, his voice hollow. The rejection still stung, his confidence taking a hit.
Peach's heart went out to him. She could easily imagine how hard he'd worked on preparing for that interview, how much pressure he must have been under. “I'm sorry,” she said, her tone sincere. “That sucks.”
Bucky nodded, shoving his hands into his pockets. “Yeah, it does,” he muttered. “I really thought I had that one. Just can't seem to catch a break lately.”
Peach studied him for a moment, the tension in his shoulders, the slight downturn of his mouth. She knew things had been tough for him lately, and he was trying his best.
She reached out, placing a gentle hand on his arm. “Hey,” she said softly, “don't let this get to you too much, okay? You'll find something else.”
Bucky looked at her, a flicker of appreciation in his eyes. Her words calmed him a bit, her touch grounding him. “Yeah, I know,” he said, managing a small smile. “Just feels like one step forward, two steps back lately, y'know?”
Peach nodded. “Trust me, I get it. Life has a weird way of throwing you curveballs, just when you think you've got it all figured out. But you're strong, Bucky. You'll get through this.”
Bucky looked at her, really looked. There was something about her.
Her sincerity, her understanding that made him feel less alone in this moment. “Thanks,” he said, his voice soft. “I guess I needed to hear that. Come on let's get done with this.”
They turned and walked towards the courthouse. Peach could see Bucky's mind was elsewhere, probably still processing the rejection. She wanted to say more, do something to lighten his mood, but knew he needed silence more than anything else right now.
With that, they walked towards the courthouse, both of them bracing themselves for the task ahead.
As they entered the courthouse, they were greeted by the sight of lawyers and couples going about their business. The atmosphere was a mix of seriousness and tension.
They walked in silence for a few moments. The weight of the unsuccessful interview still hung heavily in the air, but Bucky seemed to have lightened up a bit. Peach kept stealing glances at him, her heart aching for him and his struggles.
Bucky and Peach waited in the lobby, feeling a bit out of place amidst the couples. They looked at each other, a shared sense of uncertainty in their eyes. The impending annulment hung heavy between them. It was a reminder of the mistake they'd made, the situation they found themselves in.
As they waited for their turn, Bucky glanced at Peach from time to time. She was quiet, her gaze fixed on her hands that were clutched together on her lap. He wanted to say something, anything, to lighten the mood, but the gravity of the situation made him stay silent.
A woman, a clerk at the courthouse, called out their names, breaking the silence that had settled over them. “Mr. Barnes and Ms. L/n?” she called out, glancing at a paper in her hand.
Bucky and Peach looked at each other, acknowledging that their turn had come. They stood up, their movements a bit stiff, and headed towards the clerk, preparing themselves for the proceeding.
The clerk led them into an office, a lawyer and his assistant already waiting for them. The two of them found themselves sitting on opposite ends of a desk, the reality of the situation finally setting in.
The lawyer, a middle-aged man with a stern but neutral expression, started the proceeding. “Alright, Mr. Barnes and Ms. L/n,” he began, his tone professional. “In order to start the annulment process, I need to ask a few questions.”
Bucky and Peach nodded, bracing themselves for the questions that were about to come their way.
The lawyer started asking them series of questions such as influence of alcohol, pressure or force. But the last question was the cheery on the cake.
The lawyer, his tone firm, looked at them directly. His eyes fixed on them, “Did you two have sex?”
Bucky felt his cheeks warm up, as he replied, “Yes?”
Peach nodded in agreement, her face flushed as well. “I don’t know…”
Bucky changed his answer again, “I don’t know too…” Peach changed her answer too, “Yes?”
The lawyer made another note on the paper, while Peach mouthed ‘Sorry’ to Bucky, who gave her a smile.
The lawyer, satisfied with the answers he had received, moved onto explaining the process of annulment. “Alright,” he began, his voice a calm professional. “Since your circumstances fall under the legal terms for an annulment, we can start the process.”
“In about a month,” he continued, “the papers will be ready. You'll need to sign them, and the marriage will be annulled as if it never existed.”
Bucky and Peach listened intently, the words hitting them. Just a month. That's all it would take for this mistake to be undone. It was a simple process, but the implications felt huge.
They exchanged a glance, seeing the same mixture of relief and discomfort mirrored in each other's eyes.
The ride back home was unusually silent. Bucky was driving, his focus on the road but his mind elsewhere. Occasionally looking at Peach from the corner of his eye, he could sense her nervousness and unease, mirrored his own.
Peach, on the other hand, sat quietly in the passenger seat, gazing out of the window. The cityscape outside was just a blur to her as her thoughts swirled in her head.
The silence was thick, both of them not knowing quite how to break it.
Her wandering gaze fell on the backseat, where she noticed a file lying there. Bucky's interview file. The sight of it made her heart ache. It was a reminder of his recent job interview, and the subsequent rejection.
Peach felt a pang of empathy. She could only imagine how hard Bucky must have worked on the preparation, how much hope he must have had, only to have it dashed by a single, regretful ‘No’.
“How are you feeling?”
Bucky glanced at her, surprised by the sudden question. He hadn't expected her to bring up the topic. “Uh, fine,” he answered, his voice noncommittal. “Just... need to find a new job, I guess.”
Peach looked at him, seeing the slight tensing of his shoulders as he spoke. She knew he was trying to downplay it, but she could see the disappointment and worry etched on his face.
“I have an idea, that will help you feel better…”
Bucky, sensing the underlying insinuation in her words, glanced at her. He wasn't sure where she was going with this, but the look in her eyes made him curious. “Yeah? What's your idea?” he inquired, raising an eyebrow.
Peach looked at him, her eyes reflecting her dilemma. “I don't know if it's the best idea considering...I should be saving money…”
Bucky, noticing her hesitance, wanted to ease her mind. He gave her a reassuring smile. “Come on,” he said, “tell me, I'm paying. What is it?”
With Bucky's insistence, Peach seemed to make up her mind. Her eyes lit up as she gave the instruction, a hint of excitement in her voice. “Just take a left turn here.”

Mr-entj, you always say to start from the problems we want to solve. But how exactly can we find out what those are and how good we are at doing that?
Related answer:
Career and impact
Look around everywhere and see what catches your interest. Here are a few places to start and questions to ask:
Your immediate environment. Look around you—at your situation, family, neighborhood, socioeconomic class, ethnic group, town, city, and country. What issues are affecting them? What conditions are you living in? How are you treated?
For example, a former classmate of mine, whose family was deeply impacted by the Korean War, went on to study at Harvard and earn her PhD at Oxford. Today, she’s a recognized expert on North Korean human rights issues, publishing and speaking on the topic worldwide (currently a guest lecturer at Oxford's Blavatnik School of Government).
Within society. Check the news, social media, and entertainment channels. What themes keep surfacing? What news headlines are most fascinating or disturbing?
For example, I have a friend who was deeply troubled by corporate environmental abuse, everything from unchecked pollution to unpunished disasters and the growing threat of climate change. She pursued a law degree at Stanford Law School, later led the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), and now serves as the Director of Global Climate Strategies for a climate non-profit.
At school and in academia. What research are people working on? What subjects interest you? Which professors are tackling interesting problems and pushing exciting boundaries?
For example, a friend of mine was inspired by her Child Development Psychology professor, who encouraged her to pursue graduate school. With support from that professor, my friend earned a spot in a top PhD program at the University of Michigan. Today, she’s a professor of Child and Adolescent Development in California, researching educational outcomes for first-generation Latino students.
At work. What’s inefficient or frustrating? What tools would make life easier? What solutions are missing that need to be built?
For example, a friend of mine noticed how tedious and frustrating it was to onboard contractors. So, he launched a startup to streamline everything from interviews to payroll. In 2021, he sold that same startup to Workday for $500 million USD.
For me, I'm driven by technological innovations that improve society (Product Management + Strategy) and working to ensure the responsible deployment of that technology to keep the world safe (Trust & Safety). For my wife (the INTJ), her focus is on ensuring technology is used fairly and that personal data isn’t exploited or misused (she's a lawyer that works in data privacy).
You won’t know how good you are at solving problems until you identify your strengths. Then: research, experiment, fail, learn, grow, and repeat. Without data, there are no new insights. Get out there, try something, and come back with real-world feedback.

Hello. You might have seen this floating around on twt:
link 1 // link 2, archive link
If by any chance you or someone you know are thinking about joining in on the challenge… no one can stop you but I implore you as someone who makes art, as someone with friends in an often-exploited creative industry, as someone who lives in late stage capitalism alongside you and has seen this play out before: proceed with caution.
Read the fine print on that form. There is NO guarantee of an internship, much less a job at the end of it. I haven't gone further than this form, but if anyone reading this does, and if there's no written agreement that your work won't be used without credit to you + payment for services rendered - RUN.
This is a common corporate tactic to get free labor out of people. I'm not saying this is necessarily what’s happening; for all we know this was done as a completely innocent move to drum up some fan engagement and as a genuine search for talent for their analytics team. WHO KNOWS. But I can't ignore that I’ve seen this situation play out again and again, at every scale.
Job interviews, when they ask you how YOU think they should improve their systems, how YOU would solve their problems? When they require that you do some problem-solving for them, and it goes beyond a simple task? That’s a free consultation you’re giving them, that's free work you or someone else should be getting paid for.
When big streamers/influencers ask their fans to join in on a fan art contest to choose their new pfp/banner? That’s hundreds, possibly thousands of pieces of free art they never would’ve gotten otherwise. They could've gone to the trouble of paying someone in-house to do it, hiring someone for that position, commissioning a professional for a piece. It's free work from their dedicated fans.
In this case, Utah HC is asking fans to not only choose/provide their own dataset, but to do a complex analysis on it AND do the work of visual and verbal communication to senior management, who likely do not have a deeper grasp of the concepts and will need it simplified. The stipulation that you will present your work could be ANYTHING!! The "five page deliverable" is already bananas to me, having dipped my toe into what analytics is and how complex the fun ones are. Condensing it all is WORK. The presentation portion may include speaking time and answering questions; the groundwork for doing this effectively may include producing data visualisations, making spreadsheets, time consuming write-ups. Maths and science communication is hard. It is WORK. They are asking for free labor.
Many have already called it out, but it's still gaining traction via retweets from big accounts uncritically sharing it. I found out through the official Puckpedia account. Jack Han called it out pretty eloquently on twitter and on his substack:
Many people aspire to work as an analyst in the NHL. Earlier today the Utah Hockey Club gave those people a glimmer of hope. Utah’s Summer Analytics Challenge is unusual in that it doesn’t provide a dataset or detailed instructions. The open-ended contests contrasts with other public (ex: Big Data Cup) or private (ex: NHL team interview) events. In those scenarios, participants are given proprietary data to clean, model and analyze, which influence direction and methodology. Meanwhile, Utah is seemingly happy with anything as long as the writeup is under five pages long. Utah’s contest also stands out in its near-total absence of legal fine print. There are no mention of intellectual property implications, which is perhaps fitting when the team is asking participants to bring their own data and analysis. [...] Open casting calls such as Utah’s analytics challenge start out as a lose-lose-lose proposition: > The employer loses because it will have to invest massive human resources to trawl/filter/evaluate/reverse-engineer the hundreds of write-ups it is sure to receive, with no guarantee that any of them will be of use > Applicants lose because the vast, vast majority of them will have nothing to show for their efforts, while a tiny minority risks having its IP stolen > Good ideas lose because they’ll be born into an environment where their parents (the applicant & the employer) have no defined relationship and won’t be in a position to grow together

I do try to keep things light on this blog, but this is super personal for me <3 thank u for listening
#so glad the majority of the reaction to this has been to shit on it tbqh. GET THEIR ASSES#TRYING OUT ADDING ARCHIVE LINKS WHEN I CAN !! FUCK WEBROT!!! AND FUCK THEM IF THEY TRY TO DELETE THE EVIDENCE!!!#Utah HC#Utah Hockey Club#puckposting

IWTV Musings: Diaries - Anne Rice & The Vampire Claudia
Every story MUST rely on someone's interpretation, even a seemingly impartial party. Diaries are eyewitness accounts, primary sources, that've been used for hundreds of years to help chronicle historical events. They're highly valued resources for getting "an alternative perspective on the years of your interest."
The entire time AR wrote IWTV, she kept a diary about her experiences, hopes & fears, and what becoming an author by telling Louis' story meant to her.
Diaries & manuscripts/letters etc as mediums of disseminating information have ALWAYS been at the heart of Anne Rice's approach to the vampire genre--it goes all the way back to Dracula, a type of epistolary fiction that was told in the format of diaries & letters.

Cuz epistolary mediums held lend an air of AUTHENTICITY to the story, like there's events within the story that actually happened--not IRL in the sense of a legit historical documentary/etc, but within the universe of the story itself. No matter what other BS goes down, a written/oral epistolary word is the most direct touchstone for getting someone's POV on something that happened to them; that they saw, experienced, witnessed, or just felt at a certain time.
IWTV has always been told via personalized interviews, book/film/show: Louis & Daniel going back & forth with questions & answers that were recorded on tapes. The tapes/interview are the culmination of Louis' existence, the story he tells of not just his own life, but also a memoir about Claudia. His story isn't some celebratory paean for idiot humans to WANT to follow: IWTV's a cautionary tale discouraging against vampirism; and above all it's a mournful dirge as Louis grieved the loss of his daughter who was doomed by the narrative; "it could not have ended any other way."
Ofc we know about the impact of Claudia's diaries, but an overlooked thing about Louis is that he also kept a diary, and he said Les openly mocked him for it.
But even when Les clapped back on Lou in TVL, he still validated that Louis' version of events were valid TO LOUIS; and that the overall jist of IWTV was authentic to how Loustat & Claudia lived.
Likewise, book!Claudia's diaries are read in Merrick, and are the plot device pushing Louis' narrative forward as he careens towards suicide; haunted by ghost!Claudia's resentment & rage towards him.

Louis reading Claudia's diaries are a climactic moment in Merrick. We got the full depth and breadth of exactly the kind of atmosphere Claudia felt SHE was enduring in NOLA, in contrast to Les's pov waxing poetic in TVL, and Lou's pov catastrophicizing in IWTV.

Even beyond TVC, AR experimented with diaries/letters as a vehicle for storytelling and as a plot device for exposition.

The most famous example is ofc The Witching Hour, where the lives of the Mayfair Witches is told largely through archival records collected over centuries by the Talamasca: diaries, journals, letters, pictures, newspapers, interviews, reports, etc.
The Talamasca are AR's paranormal MIB, historians & scholars of the occult, who who heavily rely on diaries, letters, photos, etc as primary sources to track the activity of supernatural creatures. Their agent Jesse Reeves investigated Loustat's townhouse & found Claudia's diary; which the Talamasca kept in their archive for years before Louis finally read it and used ripped out pages with Claudia's most vicious words on it to help exorcise her ghost that had been haunting him.
ghost!Claudia is inextricably tied to her diaries, both being vestiges of her life, and manifestations of everything she couldn't verbalize, but still very deeply felt, based on what she went through.
TL;DR: It is very rarely the point of autobiographies, memoirs, diaries, and other personal works to be treated as diehard FACTS; unless the author deliberately chronicles events as a means of publically preserving it for posterity as a verifiable eyewitness documentation/documentary/etc. Otherwise, although private diaries are often sourced by historians & scholars (cuz they provide valuable perspectives and often include useful nuggets of details about contemporary events), they're the exact opposite of impartially distilled & diehard facts like in a textbook or scholarly work (ideally ofc). Diaries are thoroughly partial & biased perspectives. Their value comes from juxtaposing a diarists' pov with other sources (primary, secondary, or otherwise) to help contextualize & build up a collective (his)story/narrative or sequence of events--not BE the whole narrative.
PS: As such, I have to look at AMC!IWTV fans sideways who point at Claudia's diaries with accusatory fingers; calling her a Liar™ and tryna invalidate & discredit her POV; just cuz she contradicts narratives other characters have created/presented. Lestans esp. want her diaries to be disproven in S3 so dang bad, in order to clear Lestat of all the critiques being thrown at him not just by the fans, but by the show itself. And I just have to sit back and smh, cuz it misses the entire point of what diaries are even FOR, both in IRL, and esp. within Anne Rice's written world. But more on all that later....

Some people in the West believe Putin's propaganda about Russia's overwhelming strength. Though if you do a simple reality check, you'll notice that Russia's "3-day special operation" in Ukraine is now in Day 870.
Yekaterina Shulman used to work as a consultant to the Russian government. She left Russia soon after Putin's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in 2022. Here are some excerpts from an interview she gave to RFE/RL.
I’ve called Russia a “bureaucratic autocracy.” It’s a personalist autocracy in strict political science classification. We don't have a ruling party like party autocracies. Russia is not run by a military junta like military autocracies. We don't have an established succession mechanism that monarchies have. So we’re a personalist autocracy: Power is concentrated in the hands of the leader and his immediate surrounding. However, we’re a big country that can't be run by a president and his five friends [alone]. [ ... ] The Russian state has never paid that much money to its people for anything -- for their work, for their life, for their death, for whatever. The idea that Russia is a country of limitless resources is a propaganda picture. But the strange thing, and it is so strange that we can't realize it, is this: It has always been the case in Russia's history that people are abundant but money is scarce. Hard currency, gold, or foreign currency have value; people have no value whatsoever. “We have as much [human capital] as we need.” Now it's the other way around. I can't adequately explain to you, I can’t even explain to myself what a gamechanger it is. They don't understand it themselves, because they've never seen anything like this. [ ... ] [W]e don't have enough Russians. We have more money than we know what to do with, but we don't have the people -- either on the front lines or back home. We have a huge labor deficit, and very slowly there comes a realization that you can't pay 1.25 million rubles to a person who in two weeks’ time will be killed in a senseless “meat grinder,” as the expression goes. The army management doesn't understand this yet. The political leadership doesn't understand it yet but is slowly beginning to realize it. I don't know what the implications will be; I can only tell you as a social scientist that it's a huge change. [ ... ] Whatever factor we take -- be it the labor crisis that I mentioned, the demographic situation, the economic imbalances, the aging of personalist rule, the infighting of the clans, where now everyone has a little private army of their own -- each and every one of these factors and all of them in combination are factors of long-term decline. As a Russian citizen, as a Russian educator, I get no pleasure at all in saying this. The question that I get is whether this or that event or occurrence or tendency will, in stark terms, upset Putin or defeat Russia; and the answer is no, not immediately. But none of them will go away. It will be a country with an aging society, with a disbalanced economy, with an incompetent leadership, and these are the factors of inevitable decline. It’s very bad. It's bad for the country; it's bad for the continent.
Russian rulers dating back to the tsars have regarded their large populations of poor people as cannon fodder to be used in wars when needed. This has sometimes compensated for corrupt and incompetent military leadership. But Russia is running out of troops to send on "meat wave" attacks in Ukraine. And hundreds of thousands of tech savvy young people have already left the country since the war began. Russia is experiencing a self-inflicted demographic wound.
Putin has to rely on technology from China and arms manufacturers in North Korea to keep his war going. Out of frustration he's bombing children's hospitals and apartment buildings in Ukraine. Terrorism is his only response to a deteriorating situation.
Russia may look real big on maps but in economic terms, it has a GDP similar to that of Italy.
Narcissism is a common trait among dictators. This war is driven by Putin's nostalgic desire to bring back the USSR of his youth in all but name. He wishes to be the Peter the Great of the 21st century. This is essentially the War of Putin's Ego. But all the bluster of Putin, his propaganda machine, and his Western lickspittles can't indefinitely mask the precarious nature of contemporary Russia.

Hi, craziest shit happened today. I was almost hired as an intern without my consent and without being given any information about the office 😭😭😭. Details under the cut
• The people from a development agency associated with city hall messaged me on Thursday (I was recommended to them by one of my dad's acquaintances) to tell me to take an online test today, and to ask me how long my uni takes to analyze internship contracts. I was confused because they didn't provide any information about the internship program or even where the agency is located, but I thought "Well maybe after the test, depending on my score, I'll get an interview and they'll provide me with all of that information".
• So today, I was gonna take the test, but when I clicked on the link they sent to my email, I was redirected to a page where I had to fill out data, which included my major/course, but there was no law option, so I messaged my dad who messaged his acquaintance who works there, who messaged Human Resources.
• Apparently I didn't have to take the test, because that test isn't for law internships.
• But then I got a message asking me to send my documents, so they could draw out my contract and I'd start on March 5th. I was horrified, because I didn't go through any selective process, I didn't know the agency, they didn't give me any information. They didn't even ask me if I was interested in the spot or in an interview.
• I told my dad and it took him 8 messages to get where I was coming from. He then said the HR guy would message me to explain things. I had to say 8 times, "I wasn't given any information about how the office works, what's the duty of an intern there, how many hour per days, what time I get in and out, how much do they pay. They should give me those information before hiring me without my consent"
• The HR Guy was like, "Hey! Welcome to the team. If you have any doubts, feel free to ask. You start on March 5th." And I was like,"But I didn't go through the selective process. I didn't have a test or an interview. I don't know anything about the agency. Not even where it's located."
• And he was like, "You'll figure it out the longer you're here. Don't expect to know everything at first"
And I was like, "Except what I would like to know is basic information that the candidate should be provided before he's hired without his consent. I didn't even know I was gonna be hired. I was told someone from this agency would message me about an internship spot and how the program and the application work. Instead, I was just told to take an exam. And then when I went to take the exam, I was told that there was no need, and asked to send my documents so they could draw a contract. I was never given any information about the office and how it works or the program or how many hours the shift lasts and how much you guys pay. I'd like an interview and to be given this basic information before making a decision, please"
• Then, he said, "Okay, calm down. Let's schedule an interview where I can answer all of your questions, and you'll decide if you want to work here or not after coming here. Does Thursday, 4:30pm work for you?"
• And now I have an interview after being almost hired without my consent and with no information. Worst of all, was that my dad was willing to go along with it, and thought I was making a big deal out of nothing, and I had to explain it to him 8 times why that was a very very bad idea until he got it.....
And that's what you missed on Glee (Jake's Version)

Question 2. First, thanks for the reply. My suggestion of you all being wrong was a play on your words on how it amazes you how you're wrong about them, but also other tarot readers getting the same energy, which would imply they are also wrong.
I know TZ are a well liked couple, so when readers offer up their analysis, fans go mad because it's not what they want to hear, lol. My problem is the in-depth psychological analysis. If your card indicates worry, stress, and anxiety, it is immediately put down to a break up. lol 9/10 readers always go to that conclusion. My understanding of tarot was the cards are to be interpreted by the subject and not the reader, your supposed to be the guide yet you put a definitive answer on the card. Am I wrong
Thanks for the clarifications!
1. The cards themselves can be interpreted by the client only if the client does readings for him/herself and is him/herself a tarologist. The client can interpret only the words and readings of a tarologist. The cards are interpreted by the tarologist themselves. And here it already depends on the professionalism of the tarologist, a combination of their esoteric abilities and understanding of human psychology, as well as analytics.
2. Personally what surprises ME the most as a human being and this is exactly what my phrase was about in the post with the reading, is that for years when I'm requested to read their energy I see and feel that that kind of love that can be written about in magazines, or which they (TZ) can broadcast in interviews, is not there.
Throughout the years that they have been dating, sometimes Tom has a failure of feelings, sometimes Zendaya is unsure if she is in the right relationship at all and if she is wasting time and resources in a relationship with Tom (again, this is solely according to the cards, I do not intercept their personal calls and messages, not at all I am familiar with them or their loved ones). But there has never been such a thing as cards of unconditional love, happiness, full acceptance of each other and sweet relationships.
I am quite a tough person in my judgments and decision-making. My views on life, as well as my psychological education (I am in the process of getting a degree) tell me that their throwing and real feelings, and not "the picture" that "the industry" creates about them, should have led to a breakup for sane people who hear and know real themselves, because for mental health it is more important. That's exactly what surprises me.
If I had been in such a relationship for YEARS, I would definitely break up. Because it's exhausting. I think what saves them is that everyone has their own schedule, and they are not together 24/7.
At the same time, in my country I am quite close to the world of show business and I know how people there "break" themselves, if only it would be beneficial for their career and image. I don't judge or condemn celebrities, it's their job, and that's why we love them sometimes. As a human being, I personally feel sorry for them. Maybe Tom and Z are in the same situation.
In any case, until they become my clients, I cannot confirm or deny the information from my readings 😅 So before that I recommend reading my and others tarot readings as entertainment content.

Worst Interview Ever
Pitched by tech companies as a cost-efficient means of automating a laborious screening process typically done by an HR representative or recruiter, this A.I. software has the capability to “interview” hundreds of candidates, whom it can then recommend for further interviews with actual human beings. But for those on the other side of these chats, the experience of auditioning for a computer can feel somewhat surreal—and leave a rather unpleasant impression of a potential employer.
. . .
The shift to A.I. among human resources sectors is real. Earlier this month, the CEO of IBM confirmed that the company had laid off “a couple hundred” HR workers and replaced them with A.I. agents. A recent survey of 500 HR professionals also found that almost three-quarters of them believe they’re adopting the technology more quickly than other departments. Despite this, HR remains among the fastest-growing sectors in the U.S., with the Bureau of Labor Statistics predicting an 8 percent growth by 2033. According to the HR Digestmagazine, although A.I. can be used in this field to automate “an unnecessary amount of manual work,” like payroll management and vacation requests, it can’t yet “oversee the human section” or company culture. Still, amid concerns that the technology may develop algorithmic biases in hiring, Peditto believes that recruiters should be worried. “Good recruiters are more than just box-checkers and 15-minute screeners,” he said. “But for the people who this is sort of all they do, that can be scary, especially those early in their careers.”
The recruiters that are using A.I. are, in one sense, leveling the playing field. After all, some applicants, like Mayfield Phillips, who’ve been interviewed by A.I. bots have themselves used A.I. to boost their chances of landing a job by receiving help in polishing their résumés or tailoring cover letters. (You can even use the tech to practice your answers in mock interviews—a feature highlighted by Google in a recent Super Bowl ad—or have it listen to your job interview in real time and secretly suggest responses.) But Phillips, a 55-year-old IT project manager in New York, said he still found his experience this week of being interviewed by an A.I. chatbot, one also made by Apriora, to be profoundly surreal. Although he knew in advance he’d be conversing with an A.I. program that would listen to his verbal answers and ask him questions via text, he still had to schedule a time to chat with “Alex” (whose avatar appeared as a white woman with brown hair), and a preplanned interview had to be postponed due to technical difficulties the A.I. was experiencing. Phillips said he was also particularly frustrated and unimpressed after the A.I. was unable to answer a question he posed about what success might look like in the position.

Hey mystery! Time to flex the big brain of yours with a science question. I’m sure that you’re familiar with the recent change in ages for Sonic and co. All of their ages were removed. So my question to you is how old would Sonic and his friends be since he’s now meant to be seen as TEENAGER?
Hello, my dear!❤️✨
This is a very interesting question. And I say that because it's a very... controversial (?) topic in the fandom at the moment. For those of you who are not familiar with the matter, the ages for many characters on their Sonic Channel bios were removed back in October (Bevan, 2022). Even characters like Vector and Rouge, who have notoriously been viewed as adults in canon, do not have a defined age anymore. This was a decision made by SEGA of Japan (SoJ) to keep the characters ambiguous with ages. For some characters, we can still infer that they’re strictly teenagers, like Sonic (Game Informer, 2022. 05:00 to 05:08). Maybe a little bit older, but not by much. It could range between 13-years-old to 19-years-old. It’s really up for interpretation with some fans, especially since the actors for the Sonic series are focusing on deeper voices.
Disclaimer:
I am more than happy to answer this question, but I’m afraid that I’m very limited on how I can answer this. Ages displayed throughout the series has always been a fickle thing. And that’s okay! I’m assuming that this ask is geared towards Game!Sonic rather than Sonic Wachowski, since his canonical age is 13-going-on-14 (Fowler, 2020). If this ask is geared towards me debunking the "age argument," then you might get a different answer. That, and I'm not gonna buy into the B.S. that comes from it.
The problem here is that I'm being asked to apply scientific logic to a fictional character. That's all well and good, but I'm limited in resources. That, and I'm making assumptions on how physiological traits work with an anthropomorphic animal. I'm basing my conclusions on human physiology. While this may seem logical for the ask, I don’t necessarily know how “fair." This would be considered more of a headcanon rather than a scientific explanation to your question. If there was more of an understanding of the Sonic characters’ anatomy, then I would be comfortable with giving a strong answer. They best that I can supply is a hypothetical scenario that might supply a content answer. “Content” meaning that’s it’s fine, but gives me enough wriggle room to debunk/empathize in the future.
I must also stress that an average does not mean the "perfect model." No singular person is the same. There is no such thing as normal. When I say that something is of average comparison, I'm translating it to a general starting point. I need a base to go on in order to build on top of my reasoning and data.
References:
For this ask, I will be looking at cranial structures and comparing them to both human, anthropomorphic animals (Sonic). Data that is generated to answer this ask comes from existing games, interviews with game developers, and anthropological research.
The methodology and techniques that I’ll be referencing comes from “Bare Bones: A Survey of Forensic Anthropology” by, Michael Warren et al. (2012). This is an excellent book that provides techniques and disciplines to criminologists, anthropologists, and physicians. The Smithsonian: National Museum of Natural History provides a sample of "Forensic Anthropology 101" in their free educational service HERE. I’ll also be referencing different case studies found in cultural anthropology journals. Hyperlinks will be attached in the in-text citations for view.
Methods:
I can answer this question using basic forensic techniques. There are a few different ways to determine an individual’s age when examining skeletal anatomy:
Cranial anatomy
The pelvic girdle (pelvis)
Femur
Mandible
Most archaeologists and forensic anthropologists will answer that the pelvic girdle is the best indicator for identifying an individual's age. The pelvis girdle consists of three main bones: hip bone (ilium, ischium, pubis), sacrum and the coccyx. With this, we look at the level of maturity of bone growth to make an educated guess. This can be identified by the bone's state of fusion. Depending on the identification of the individual, the pubis may fuse or grow robust. If the femur is present with the pelvis girdle, then the collected data becomes stronger. The femur is measured in height from the neck to the head, then the shaft alone to provide an idea of one's stature. All of these together create a plausible stature for one's growth and maturity.
The mandible is touch-and-go. I’ve shared in the past that teeth can provide an idea of an individual’s weight, social/economic status, stature, left/right dominance, and types of bite when chewing food. The state in which teeth grow in can give us an indication of age. This is just as good as observing one's age with a pelvis girdle. If not, maybe a bit better! However, this only works if there's a certain amount of teeth present and a record of growth is present. We look at an individual’s molars and premolars in order to determine a rough estimate in age. On average, wisdom teeth come in between the ages of 17 to 25 (Renton et al., 2016). Some are late bloomers, others are early birds. X-Rays can help us identify where the teeth are currently and provide a projection of when they'll appear. As long as there is recorded data on how teeth grow and when they come in, it's easy to determine how old someone is.
Finally, we have the calvaria. For the sake of sanity, I will be referring to this as the “cranial cap." This is the top crown of the head with four major bones that shapes the skull. These bones feature the frontal bone, two parietal bones, and one occipital bone. Along the top of the cranial cap we see these squiggles that separate the bones. These are called “sutures.” Sutures can be defined or barely visible due to the state of mend. Through maturity, these bones mend together to create one bone rather than four. These are not signs of damage done to the head, these are signs that show the state in which a child is growing (Warren et Al., 2012). Sutures are a result of an infant's cranial cap fusing together after being birthed. To put simply; the less defined they are, the older that one supposedly is.
OBSERVATION:
As explained in the “Methods,” section, the cranial cap and mandible appear to be a more logical choice when determining Sonic’s age. I am fortunate for the small crumbs given to me from Sonic CD (1994) and Sonic Unleashed (2008). Both of these provide a good picture of Sonic’s biological estimation on age range. I will not be referring to Evan Stanley’s interpretation of his skull. I do not feel that this is necessary, nor canon. This is Ms. Stanley’s interpretation of Sonic anatomy and fan art.
Mandible

Right before it's initial release, Sonic Unleashed's opening cinematic was meant to have a darker tone. Initially, the beta version of the scene depicted Sonic being electrocuted in his super form as he's infused with Dark Gaia energy. This scene was also meant to show his skeleton during the painful transformation. Screenshots of the scene are available online. One particular shot shows enough of Sonic's mandible to identify canine, incisor, premolars, and molars. The image above shows that at least ONE wisdom tooth (third molar) is present. Other signs of third molars is not visible due to angle of shot.
In the animated short titled "Night of the Werehog," we're given a good shot of Sonic opening his mouth and showing his fangs. Way in back are three molars (Image has been brightened and highlighted for view). Since one confirmed wisdom tooth is present in the shot, we could infer that Sonic is at least 17-years-old. Not fifteen. Seventeen is the average age for when we see wisdom teeth begin to grow in.
Cranial anatomy/Cranial Cap
In Sonic CD (1993), there is a particular scene where Sonic is electrocuted once again. [Fun Fact: one would not be able to see Sonic's skeleton if electrocuted, you'd see his nervous system instead.] Once again, players are able to see Sonic's entire skeletal system. The problem with this example is that it's pixelated art. Pixel art can range from being detailed works of art, or simplified icons that have symbolic meaning. The skeletal anatomy that we see of Sonic in the CD title is not enough for me to draw a conclusion on how old he is. It's merely a representation of a shock taking place.
For a better representation of a cranial cap, we should refer to the beta version of Sonic Unleashed once more. Sutures on Sonic's skull are a tad harder to make out in the image due to how saturated the scene is. A wonderful example of seeing Sonic's cranial suture can be seen at a side profile. The one closes to the sphenoid bone (eye socket) is a cranial suture. Again, this one is up for debate since the quality of the photo is poor. For the sake of sanity, we'll claim that this is a suture.
Examining the suture, we see that it's less defined. This does not mean that the sutures disappear completely. As we grow older, the bone fuses. If Sonic were younger, then the sutures would be more defined. Here, they've fused quite finely. This leads me to believe that he is out of the child phase (1yr to 12yrs) and into Adolescence (13yrs to 17yrs).
Femur & Pelvic Girdle/Pelvis
Generally, there's a model that can be used to display what a mature individual looks like compared to an adolescent when observing a pelvis girdle. Here, it's a bit harder for me to make an assumption because there's a lacking model of what adults and adolescents look like for anthropomorphic animals. This is a query that I've faced when trying to examine Sonic's skeletal anatomy. Of course, measuring a femur and weighing the density of bone could provide some insight on Sonic's estimated age (Shipman, 2018).
In a real world, that would require lots of money and an actual subject that is the equivalent to Sonic's height and weight (canonically, Sonic is 100cm tall and weighs 35kg). You'd then have to figure how much the bone density changes when someone stands up, sits down, lies down, and so forth. Plus, I don't know Sonic's level of body fat to even begin doing a simple calculation. It's a bit of a headache the more that this is tackled upon. That is a lot of data to collect for a talking blue hedgehog.
Measurements of the femur to the pelvis are fine and dandy, but the data is inconclusive. A simple measurement could be off by a single year or three. Once more, it's kind of hard to capture a crisp picture of the pelvis girdle and femur. I feel that gathering data from this perspective is inconclusive.
Discussion:
I must stress that this isn’t meant to be as in-depth or taken seriously. I must also stress that many social groups around the world have different approaches and cultural definitions to what it means to be a teenager. This is a common topic that I try to educate people about when it comes to cultural norms and social practices. Most western cultures consider that teenagers starting at 13yrs of age and ending at 17yrs of age before becoming a legal adult at 18yrs. Some western cultures even extend the age gap to 13yrs to 19yrs. Cultural and social teachings of how we define what is and isn’t a teenager could easily be defined as “adolescence.” We refer to this as adolescence, it allows us to have an extended age gap of 13yrs to 19yrs (Ember et Al., 2017). It all narrows down to how these practices and beliefs are taught within one’s community.
Some fans headcanon Sonic and his friends are growing older, others younger… or even stick with the Western interpretation of him being 15-years-old. Sonic's age has always been ambiguous, meaning that it's not narrowed down to a specific number. The query that I've faced is that there is a lack of official material that displays this easily. The information that I have shared in this post works on a plausible theory that he's older than 15. However, gaming manuals have almost always made it a point hat hes 15/16 (Sonic Heroes Game Manual, 2003). The point now is that he's a teenager. He will always be viewed as a teenager in this canon. To me, Game!Sonic is definitely older. He clearly shows characteristics of being an older version of himself (the strongest supporting evidence here being his teeth), but still within the range of being classified as a "teenager."
My goal here is to not enforce one way of thinking. The most that I can do is supply the data and leave you, the reader, to make your own conclusions. I hope that this answers your question, my dear.
