summary:

Scar builds a circus and brings in freaks and misfits and hybrids, with the intention of giving them a fresh start and somewhere to heal. Somewhere along the lines, he rescues a red-winged avian, Grian. Grian is doing his best to be good. To be useful. To do things right. Terrified to be told he's not good enough. Panicked at the idea of being sent back where he came from. One day, right before the circus show is about to start, he sees a flash of fire. And it's enough to send everything in him spiralling and crumbling. He can't keep it together, because fire means pain, and he can't find a way out of his memories. Scar scoops him up and carries him away, promising him he's going to be okay.
