How do you do it

Start by being a good community member and neighbour, and the friendship follows. Fandom is about community. Artist, fic writers, memers, lore nerds, etc, are all here to share and interact. If you create, I'm always open for a tag to reblog.

Drop into their inboxes; "hi, so I saw your art and it made me think about xyz" or "I saw you like this character and have you thought about--". Honest. It works. We're all feral for the same stuff.

Oliv is really into Makarov rn, T has written some amazing Ghoap horror recently, Nekro's art is just hrrrg but also he's into Minecraft atm, Gomz is busy with exams but her AUs are so cute, go bother Juju for some Russian lore because their thoughts are So Good, Annie and Star are into lifting and generally very sweet peeps (Star has fics on my list), Lia is an absolute music encyclopedia, Mikey is writing his first fic, etc, etc. It takes time and investment, but you'll get there. :3 Nikprice Army are all cute as fuck and an excellent place to start.

Things I've started noticing in media as someone who recently developed a not yet diagnosed chronic pain disorder that has fucked up my life.

- seeing rep for any. Any. Disability makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

- in fandom, every time I see another disabled person discuss a disabled character, they actually like analysing the character in terms of how they function with their disability. But I only ever see ablebodied people make aus in which "everything is fine".

- seeing arguments about what is and isn't good representation is extremely draining. This goes for any minority, many of which I'm part of. It's an important conversation to have, but so often the focus is on tearing down the character instead of building them back up yourself. The approach is too focused on rooting out the bad apples, not on planting the seeds for better ones.

So often I see complaints, and those complaints are entirely valid. I agree with most of them. But wouldn't it be more productive to point out what was done right and suggest what could've been done to make it even better? If there's one thing school taught me, it's that constant criticism just leads to resentment.

Make up ocs with disabilities, draw them as well as you can or commission someone to draw them for you and post that shit with a detailed explanation. Someone is bound to see it. Write fanfiction of your favourite character and go in depth on the struggles they face and how they still find happiness alongside those struggles. Make videos or write books or animate something and include your story there, because that won't make you miserable. Force people to see you for who you are. It's far more effective than getting into arguments online.

If i remember correctly the nov16th streams ended before/around midnight in my timezone, but i stayed up late into the night. I remember how everyone was buzzing with excitement for HOURS. (there has truly never been anything like that era to me ever since, i can't imagine i'll ever feel like that again) When i woke up in the morning i was still in shock, first thing i did was sit down and crochet a bee i have still not finished to this day

I must say that lately I've been too addicted to animal crossing to really have time to do anything else but one good piece of news is that I finally made some real progress on my book documenting my experience of seeing TMBG show recap post because I finished describing the pre-show stuff and the first set yesterday so I might finish it this week. I hope. The only problem is that it's already 9 pages long so in a way I'm not joking about how I could turn this into a book instead. And it's not my fault that the stage banter was so good that I'm probably going to end up transcribing like half of it at least.

I know its just subjective but thinking about how I see people talking a lot about how they wish 13 had got to be even more angry, like proper anguished screaming, but I have to admit I kind of disagree personally. I know its an unpopular opinion but I dont actually like most of the really popular yell-y scenes with the other doctors, there are some scenes that work really well and then there are others that make me cringe 😅

13 does have a scene in the timeless children where she gets like that, it's brief and I think it works well. She still shows a lot of anger at other times and in other ways and personally thats what I prefer. Its just funny to see people talking about how they wish thirteen had been more like the others in this specific way and its actually something that i don't like with the others
