Slenderman (and or mansion au) hcs?
Slenderman
a strange combination of angry old man, tyrannical boss, supervillain, and father figure
but he makes it work
keeps all the corny “1# dad” gifts that the pastas have gotten him for father’s day over the years
plays the harpsichord and the clarinet
nobody’s ever seen him play the clarinet, but they hear him every once in a while
he’s really good ^^
about 2-3 times a year, he’ll get together with this group of eldritch beings he’s befriended over the centuries
they like to play chess, go to upscale restaurants, attend operas, watch the underworld symphony orchestra, and talk mad shit about their proxies, but most importantly, they like to reminisce about history.
slender had nearly forgotten about how he’d worn the exact same outfit—wig and all—as that duke to king louis xiv’s ball until his friends reminded him
they probably correct history books too
total wine snob
when nobody’s around, he sometimes refers to his office as his lair
and pretends his fish tank is a shark tank but shhhh we don’t tell anyone about that
wears sock suspenders
an asexual king
you know those people that give out free parent hugs to lgbt+ kids who were rejected by their parents?
he’s one of those
he has two moods: vintage wine in his lair office while ordering around his proxies and lording over humanity or tea in an armchair with a good book and some bach playing, no in between
out of touch thursday is every thursday for this man
one of his favorite parts about running a safe house for stinky and traumatized murderous young adults is being able to “look” them dead in the eye and say “sksksksksksk, that’s so bae, right gucci?”
actually no that’s his favorite part
very avid collector, is hoarding art and artefacts from as far back as the bronze age in his attic
speaks almost 100% in early modern english and uses shakespearean insults as swears
“dost thou bite thine thumb at me, jeffrey?”
but he secretly loves them all even jeff and ben they’re his kiddos
Mansion AU
unsurprisingly, given the cumulative number of murders that have occured at the mansion, it’s haunted beyond belief
the ghosts are usually victims of the residents and tend to stay far away from them, but some of the ghosts, all of the demons, and the other such malign entities were just attracted by the negative energy
generally, the ones attracted to the mansion aren’t too scared of the pastas, and get a lot of enjoyment out of fucking with the residents.
two of my ocs, deerhead and the nightwraith, fall into this category. they don’t come over too often, but some days when they have no other plans, they’ll swing by and terrorize the place.
to avoid fights, slender maintains a strict chore rota
most of the residents are convinced that he’s only letting them stay at the manor so they can do his chores
there’s a pool out back, but since jeff started a rumor about the loch ness monster’s babies living in the pool nobody’s gone in
even after slender said it wasn’t true, everyone refuses to go into it except on dares. 1, nobody knows how deep it is, and 2, it’s absolutely disgusting
surprisingly, nobody has to share a room. all the rooms are on the second and third floors.
whenever anyone acts up really badly, like, set the forest on fire for s’mores kind of bad, slender makes them mow the lawn
what’s so bad about this? he considers the entire forest his lawn.
a pleasant fifteen-minute walk away is laughing jack’s carnival, which is also haunted beyond belief and would definitely not pass an osha inspection
lj, jason, candy pop, and sometimes puppeteer hang out there
slender and zalgo are rivals, but not in a game of thrones sort of way
it’s more like two pta soccer moms bickering over whose kids play more sports and win more awards and whose house looks more like a pinterest board
slender keeps a good noodle chart in his office that’s EXACTLY like mrs. puff’s. the pastas hate it but at the same time they’d kill each other in a heartbeat for gold stars.
the pastas all have a truce of sorts. basically, slender grants them asylum as long as they don’t kill anyone under the same roof. anything goes as long as they don’t knock the other pasta out of commision, damage slender’s property, or make noise after 8:30 pm (“sally has a bedtime, you vexatious asshats!”)
ben is the house’s private wifi router, no i do not take criticism
they all have a family car they travel around in: a white panel van that makes passersby walk a little faster every time they see it
ben once wrote “free candy” on the side for laughs, slender wasn’t pleased
masky does most of the maintenance on the van and probably drives it too, even though he and the other proxies much prefer his pickup truck.
an hour south of the mansion is a portal to hell, which is how zalgo, the nightwraith, and other such demons access slender forest
i could make a map of slender forest if you guys want :eyes:

Hamish & Vera soulmate au headcannons
Sometimes I'm like a red traffic light and sometimes I'm like the Flash of writing. Would you look at that, another one for the collection! Seriously, please write these and tag/link me I'm begging--
For today's rambling, we have what you write on your skin appears on your soulmate's. I'm aiming for a little happiness, given I'm still upset about the colours one and the first/last words one. Allons-y!
Vera and Hamish were best friends as soon as Hamish finally learned how to write. They shared all their stories with one another and for the most part, told each other everything.
Their parents got them washable markers when they were 10 and 6 respectively because it was getting a little hard to stop children from writing on their arms with pens that were stubborn or toxic markers.
Strange thing was that they never actually introduces themselves and they never really noticed that they didn't know each other's names. It never mattered. This was the one person in the whole world that knew them better than anyone else -- and they had no idea who the other was. It was kind of special.
Hamish wrote about how he got bullied for wearing sweaters. They called him a nerd and teacher's pet in tones that said it was the most hateful thing to be.
Vera wrote back the most cunning ways to get back at the bullies until Hamish ended up being almost a poster boy for his school while still maintaining some kind of commanding aura. At age 8.
Hamish was the first person to learn that Vera was pregnant.
"WHAT? But -- but you are a child!!" "We are leading very different lives."
"I asked my mom and she said children shouldn't be having kids but I think you'll be okay. You're stronger than anyone I know and I think your kid's gonna love you lots." Vera never tells anyone that she finds the most support in a little twelve year old kid whose name she isn't really inclined to learn.
When Vera's baby dies, Hamish is the only person she speaks -- or writes -- to. He's the only person she's never afraid to spill all her secrets to.
"If you got invited to join a secret society that could possibly be a cult of murderers, would you do it?" "What do they offer, though?" "Free drinks and magic." "I'd say go for it."
Hamish thinks it's a joke and Vera knows a 14 year old kid isn't gonna know any better but she listens to him anyway and powers through initiation, catching the eyes of her Temple Magus and the then Grand Magus.
"Hey, remember that cult I was telling you about? I accidentally got the leader killed but I got a promotion." "I'm so proud of you! Hey, what do you think about law school?" "Absolutely not." "For me?" "Oh. Go for it. I believe in you."
And it's that message from Vera that makes Hamish push through his first year at Belgrave, despite being turned into a werewolf somewhere in the third month.
Vera is the most respected Adeptii in the entire Order. She has her eyes set on Temple Magus. Most would think she was after power, but Vera just wants to set things straight. She just wants to make the Order everything it promises to be.
She's staying late at the temple one night. She feels a light tapping on her arm and rolls up her sleeves. Had she imagined it or was she starting to feel her soulmate's thinking stage?
"Remember that girl I told you about from that club I joined?" "Yeah. Did you finally ask her to be your girlfriend?"
Vera's teasing smile vanishes when she sees "she's dead" printed on her arm. The ink starts to run. She knows he's crying. She waves her hand over her arm and the ink vanishes. If he notices and asks her about the sudden disappearance, she'll say it was just a wet cloth.
"Do you want to talk about it or do you want me to distract you?" There is a long pause and Vera feels her heart beat faster. He wouldn't do anything irrational, right? "Distract me, please."
Vera tells him all about her day. She tells him how she's mastering all the skills the cult (she only ever calls it a cult on her arm) requires and she's almost at the top of the food chain. She tells him she wants to get a job at the university and she tells him she's afraid she won't be able to make a change in the world.
Despite his grief, Hamish manages to slowly write to Vera how he truly believes in her and that he knows she can do anything she puts her mind to.
Years pass. Hamish tells Vera about two new family members he's found. Vera tells Hamish about how she's got the job of her dreams. Hamish tells Vera that if they met by chance one day, he'd ring her into the family. Vera tells Hamish that she would induct him into her cult. They laugh but still, they don't reveal themselves. The anonymity of it gives them a sense of security and strangely enough, safety.
With the entrance of Jack Morton comes a whirlwind of drama and action to both of them. Their stories are filled with tales of this new member and all the strange things he does.
"I'm his boss! I'm his boss and he just does not listen to a word I say! Today, I found out he's been practicing skills only for professionals. It's like giving a kid a gun for a pinata. He is driving me insane."
"You're telling me. Our 'gender-neutral collective's new member is having a severe mental breakdown and I'm pretty sure I saw him talking to a coat rack earlier. I gave him a drink and he took it like a shot so I gave him a shot to see what he'd do and. He. Sipped. At. It."
Neither of them are aware that they're talking about the same person.
"I think I have a soft spot for the screw-up."
"I know the feeling, we call ours the family screw-up. Affectionately, of course."
"Of course."
After the burning of the Vade Maecum, Vera lies awake in bed, unable to find rest. So she grabs her marker, only to find a message waiting for her.
"Dear Diary, today I met a girl unlike any other. She's sharp, strong, brave and powerful. She reminds me of you. She helped me defend my dumbass family from some pretentious assholes. Honestly, she's a force of nature on her own. I wouldn't want her to hate me because I'm pretty sure she'd kill me if she did."
Vera smiles. "Sounds like someone has a crush."
"Gross, don't be so middle school."
Vera manages to find peaceful rest after a few more minutes of talking.
A few days later, Vera asks about the girl. "What girl?" "Nothing. How was your day?"
Vera doesn't understand why she no longer hears stories about the family of oddballs.
Vera doesn't make the connection.
She tells him she's head of the cult. Hamish draws party streamers and balloons. They're absolutely terrible but they make Vera laugh. "I'm proud of you." "Thank you."
"Dear diary, today I joined a secret club." "What, like a book club?" "Well . . . there are a lot of books here."
Vera finds a welcome sense of familairty and faintly, home, when the stories start pouring in about the family again.
"So today I had to pull a thorn out of a baby's foot. Said baby is turning 19 this year."
"Oh, you poor soul. A couple of new members drank the entire cult's worth of booze last night. Who even drinks that much and can still walk well enough to leave?" Hamish thinks about the welcome party at the temple. "You'd be surprised."
"I almost died today." For a second, neither of them realise they've written the same sentence. They make the connection to Belgrave and Rogwan. Neither are sure that other is saying that because they met the demon and did stupidly dangerous things or because they knew about the Excidium. Neither asks that question. "I almost died today and one of the biggest regrets I would've had was that I never got to see the face behind all the stories I've come to adore." "I know." "We should try to find each other." "We should."
But they don't. Anonymity protects them, it keeps them safe and it keeps their soulmates away from the dangers of the Order and the Knights -- so they think.
Instead, Hamish talks about losing Lilith. He calls her his feisty, brash, smart and loving little sister. He cries. Vera watches the ink run. Vera thinks about Lilith, about the sacrifice she made so that the Vera wouldn't perform the Excidium. Vera's sure that Lilith didn't do it for her or for Belgrave, but for the Knight down in the corridor with her and the knights running around Belgrave with no fear. Regardless, Lilith is what stopped the Excidium and a great deal of people owe her their lives -- Vera included. Vera thinks about Jack watching the portal swallow Lilith up whole. Vera thinks about Hamish having to carry her loss. Vera thinks about Randall having to soldier on without one of the few people who have never judged him about anything. The ink runs on their arms, but not just from Hamish's tears.
Late one night, Hamish can't sleep and watches the words write themselves om his arm. "I thought about her today. But it was so so powerful. Like being physically hit with those memories. You'd think by now I'd have come to terms with it--" "You can't keep blaming yourself." "Knowing that doesn't change the fact that I do and I will." "I know. Do you want to talk about her?" And Vera talks about her daughter until she falls asleep. Hamish reads the words filled with love and loss and adoration and joy until he falls asleep too.
When Foley and Salvador attack, behind thinking about what the hell will happen to the Knights and the Order without them, Vera and Hamish keep hoping that their soulmate doesn't start panicking. Vera recovers from Foley first and leaves a message. She needs someone to talk to, someone who won't feel the consequences of knowing and someone she knows will never turn her weaknesses against her. Hours later, she tries again when there's no response. As time ticks by, she starts getting restless. Not only is Hamish missing, but now so is her soulmate.
Once Jack and Randall break Hamish out, to keep himself from storming up and tearing Foley apart, he lifts his sleeve. Shit. "Randall do you have a pen?"
"Why would I have a -- yeah, okay, I do. Here."
"Sorry," he writes, "got a little held up and I lost my marker. Are you okay?"
Vera is slightly relieved. One of them is okay. But Hamish is still missing. "Waiting on someone. He's not supposed to be gone this long."
In her worrisome state, Vera doesn't notice that the pen ink is vanishing just as fast as thr washable marker. If she had been paying it any attention, she would have come to the conclusion that Order member or not, her soulmate was a practitioner.
"Is everyone okay?" She stares at Hamish, relief flooding her body. Damnit, she wasn't supposed to get attached to someone. She didn't think she could do that. But what was there to do now?
"Hey, I've got something to tell you." "Go on." "Remember that girl I told you about last year?" "Yes." "I think" Vera waits for the rest of the sentence. "You think?" "I really like her."
Vers suddenly doesn't feel guilty about Hamish anymore. She sits up in her bed. "Tell me all about her." "You sure you won't get jealous?" Vera laughs to herself. "I won't if you don't." "Oh! Someone has a new boyfriend!" "Maybe. Now tell me about this girl."
And Hamish starts. And Hamish cannot stop. Vera's watched his wipe his arm already three times and he still hasn't stopped. When he pauses, Vera takes the chance to write "You don't like her." "I do, though." "No, you don't. You LOOOVE her!" Vera can't shake the image that if they were sitting together and speaking, she would have sprinted away by now to avoid the attacks her teasing would bring. It makes her smile.
"Shut up! Tell me about your new boyfriend." "He's not my boyfriend." "Yet." Vera pauses. "We'll see." "Tell me about him."
Vera starts. And Vera cannot stop. Hamish watches the words appear and can't help falling in love with the way she loves this man. "Someone's in luuurve!" "Am not." "Are too." "Whatever."
He thinks about Vera. You don't like her, you love her. Maybe. Yeah, maybe he does.
"I lost her. I could've helped her and I didn't." "I don't think there was anything you could've done more. You said she was attacked." "I drove her away. I pushed her into leaving the one place that could've prevented the attack. And I couldn't save her. I just I can't keep losing people. This cult is poison. I thought I could make it better. I thought I could take it by the reigns and guide it. Instead I keep getting the younger ones killed." "It's not your fault." "I could honestly really use a drink right now but I already sent the boyfriend home. He's gone some stuff to deal with too. His family is . . . hinging on broken."
Vera wonders if he fell asleep when there's no response. She lays her head on her upper arm, looking at the words on her forearm. And then they vanish. Like . . . like magic. How the hell had she never noticed before?? Very slowly, new letters form
V . . . e . . . r . . . a . . . ?
Vera shoots up and sits straight, holding her arm. What the fuck? What the fuck did I say that gave me away?? And who the fuck knows me well enough to figure me out based on something I said??
Vera is grateful for the distraction her phone brings as it lights up with a text -- from Hamish. "I heard you could use a drink."
Vera tiptoes downstairs warily, relieved to find Hamish behind her counter with a drink in front of him. A drink for her.
"I thought I sent you to the den. The knights--"
"Are all asleep. You, on the other hand, aren't."
Vera takes a seat at the counter, hands around the glass. As Hamish tidies up, she catches sight of his bare forearm, where her name is written in the same hand writing as on her own arm. When his back is turned, she uncaps the marker and writes, Hamish?
He laughs softly to himself. Then, "Do you want to talk about it?"
"About what?"
"Alyssa."
"Do you want to talk about Lilith?"
"You're right, a distraction would be better."
And distract each other, they did.
I might write this one out oop
See other soulmate aus I've attacked

Another Universe Alternate Version (1/?)
Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Requested by @liarafan517
Request: Pt.1 How about an alternate version of Another universe series where storyline is similar, but with a twist because Nat is actually a werewolf. And Azure Witch AKA the reader, finds out that Nat is a werewolf sometime after Marvel's The Avengers movie event when she followed Nat at the Central park late at night on a full moon. They both start off as close friends until during the AoU event, Azure Witch started developing romantic feelings for Nat and she's afraid that-
Pt.2 - Nat doesn't feel the same way. But little did she know that Nat actually had already considered her as her mate. And Nat would be super protective of her, especially during the party scene and during the Salvage yard battle when Wanda used her powers on Azure Witch and Nat would be pissed off at Wanda up to the point where Nat was growling at her. And as Azure Witch wanders off, trying to shake off Wanda's powers until Ultron's drone tries to grab her but Nat quickly grabbed-
Pt.3 -Azure Witch and took her some place safe and made sure that she's okay. Then Azure Witch remembers about the twins going after Bruce and she went to help Tony stop Hulk from rampaging and used her powers on the Hulk until she passes out and when Tony carried both Bruce and Azure Witch back to the Quinjet, Nat immediately became worried about her and she quickly took Azure Witch into her arms and held her close until they arrived at Clint's house. Nat then carried Azure Witch inside the -
Pt.4 -the room, Nat gently set her down on the bed and she would gently brush away Azure Witch's hair before she placed a tender kiss on her forehead and she wouldn't leave her side until Azure Witch woke up. And Azure Witch would leave a note inside Nat's catsuit, in case she gets kidnapped by Ultron. And during Seoul, maybe add the scene where Azure Witch rides on the motorcycle with Nat and she freaks out? And during the fight, Azure Witch would look for the-
Pt.5 -Maximoff twins and convinced them to help them stop Ultron. And both Azure Witch and Wanda teamed up to stop the train. And after that, Ultron sneaks up behind Azure Witch before knocking her out and grabbed her. Wanda tried to save her but ends up getting knocked away by Ultron before he flew away with Azure Witch. And when Nat finds out that Ultron had kidnapped Azure Witch, she gets really pissed off. Meanwhile, Azure Witch telepathically contacted Wanda and told her-
Pt.6- and told her where she was located. Then the Avengers head to Sokovia and Nat quickly head towards the Hydra base and rescues Azure Witch before Nat immediately grabbed her and pull her into a hug and she would confess her feelings to Azure Witch, which really surprised her until Nat finally pulls her into a passionate kiss. And when they finally joined the fight, Azure Witch noticed that Wanda was hiding from the fight and she quickly pulls her into a safe area-
Pt.7 -and Wanda starts blaming herself but Azure Witch told her that it's not her fault and that she is a good person and what she had done in the past doesn't matter now. And she tells her that once she walks through that door, she's an Avenger. And Azure Witch heads back out to fight off the drones before Wanda joins the fight as well. And later on, Azure Witch would save Pietro and Clint from getting killed by Ultron before she told them to help evacuate the city while Azure Witch went-
Pt.8 to Ultron and Ultron would tell her that if she stays on Sokovia, she'll be killed. And Azure Witch replied, "I know. I just need get rid of one loose end." And Azure Witch would use her powers to rip out Ultron's heart, killing him. And that's when Sokovia started falling from the sky and Nat freaks out about it because she realizes that Azure Witch is still on Sokovia while Azure Witch tries to use her full powers to stop Sokovia from falling, but it wasn't enough-
Pt. 8 or 9? -until Vision came and saved her before taking her back to the helicarrier where Wanda and Pietro rushed over to Azure Witch and hugged her before helping her walk inside the helicarrier because she was really weak due to Azure Witch overusing her powers up to the point where her nose started bleeding. And Nat would immediately run up to Azure Witch before lifting her into her arms and carry her to the med-bay. And later on, Steve, Nat, and Azure Witch would train the-
Part:10 -new Avengers and Azure Witch would train the Maximoff twins.

A/N: So this is going to be different than Another Universe. But I hope you guys like it! :)
Tumblr media
You let out a sigh of relief as you began to drive home from work. Work had been very stressful so once it was over you pretty much ran out of the building. All you wanted to do was go home and relax.
You were almost home when you saw a bright light flash out of the corner of your eye. You pulled your car over and parked, you got out and slowly made your way in the direction the light was.
You weren’t sure why but you felt like you needed to see what it was. What you found wasn’t what you were expecting. It was a portal. What the hell? Your curiosity got the better of you and you began walking closer.
Suddenly you were pulled into the portal. It was like someone had pushed you into it. You screamed as you fell and the next thing you knew everything went dark.
xxxxx
Natasha was walking around the city, enjoying the fact that she didn’t have to go on any missions that day. She took a sip of the coffee she had gotten not long ago, she sighed as she felt the warm liquid go down her throat.
As she was walking she looked up at the sky, that was when she saw what looked like a portal open up. Her eyes widened, she began running over to the location where the portal opened.
She turned into an alley, she gasped when she saw a woman on the ground. That woman was you. “Miss?”
Natasha rushed over to you, she knelt down next to you. She moved some of your hair away from your neck and put two fingers on your neck. She let out a sigh of relief when she found a pulse.
She couldn’t just leave you there so she carefully pick you up bridal style. Natasha quickly brought you back to the helicarrier and right to the med-bay. The whole time you were in the med-bay Natasha didn’t leave your side.
An hour later you let out a groan as your eyes slowly opened. You were met with a white ceiling and a beeping sound. Where were you? Then you realized there was someone with you. Once you saw who it was your jaw dropped.
“S-Scarlett Johansson?”
The redhead raised an eyebrow at you. “Who?”
Then you got a better look at her and you saw what she was wearing. Your eyes widened. There was no way she was Natasha Romanoff. All of a sudden the door opened and a man walked in with a bow.
“Nat what are you-” He looked at you. “Who’s this?”
“Barton-”
You stopped paying attention to what they were saying. This couldn’t be real could it? You have to be dreaming. What you didn’t know was that while you were lost in your thoughts there was a blue energy glowing around your fingers.
But Clint and Natasha did. Clint didn’t hesitate to grab his bow and aim an arrow at you. You looked up and saw an arrow pointed right at you. You screamed and moved back on the bed. He glared at you when he saw your eyes glowing blue.
“Stand down Barton!” Natasha moved in front of him, shielding you. “She’s not a threat!” Clint looked at Natasha, sighing he lowed his bow. Natasha nodded before moving out of the way.
You looked between them, your heart was beating like crazy. You looked to the side of the room and noticed a mirror, that was when you saw your eyes glowing blue and there was a blue energy glowing around your fingers.
“What the hell?!” You screamed before passing out.
xxxxx
While you were passed out Natasha told Clint about how she found you. After he left the room she ran her fingers through her hair. She needed to find out who you were and where you were from. That was when she remembered that you had a backpack with you when she found you. There has to be something in there to give her some information.
Natasha grabbed your backpack and opened it. She had found your ID, she smiled when she read your name. She set your ID to the side and began looking again. That was when she found your keys, she saw a key chain that has her symbol that she has on her catsuit, she looked at it with a raised eyebrow before looking over at you. She’ll have to ask you about that once you wake up.
As she continued looking through your backpack she had found a photo. Looking at the photo she saw you and with some other people. She could see how happy you looked in the photo. Then she heard you groan. She set everything down and stood up.
“What the hell happened?” You groaned and placed a hand on your head.
“You passed out again when you saw your powers (Y/N).” Natasha grabbed your keys and the photo before grabbing a chair and bringing it over to the bed. She sat down next to you.
Your eyes widened. “H-how do you know my name?”
Natasha chuckled. “When I found you, you had a backpack with you. I needed to find out who you were so I looked through it.”
“Oh.” You blushed.
“I do have some questions.” She waited for you to nod before she continued. Once you did she held up the photo she found. “Who are these people?”
You smiled when you saw the photo. “These two are my parents.” You point to the couple in the back. “This is my sister and my brother.” You point to them, they both had there arms wrapped around you. “And that is my best friend, though she’s more like another sister.” You point to her, she had her arms around your neck while she was on your back.
Natasha smiled, she gave you the photo back before holding up your keys. “Where did you get this?” At first you were confused but then you saw your Black Widow key chain.
“Oh um... well you see...” You blushed and ran a hand through your hair. “I-I’m not from here.”
“What do you mean you’re not from here?” Natasha set down your keys.
“What I mean is... I’m from another universe. In my universe none of this is real. You and everyone else here are fictional characters and you’re played by actors and actresses.” You looked down for a second before looking back at Natasha. “That’s why when I woke up the first time I called you Scarlett Johansson.”
Natasha eyes widened. Now that she thinks about it, it makes sense. How she saw that portal and how she found you unconscious in an alley.
xxxxx
Within the months of being there both Natasha and Clint started training you. Since you had powers you had became a Shield agent. You go by the name Azure Witch.
When you first saw your powers you immediately knew what they were. You knew they were the same powers that Wanda Maximoff has. But you couldn’t say anything about that. All you could say was what powers you had but Natasha and Clint had a feeling you knew what they were because of one of the movies you’ve seen back in your universe.
You knew the battle of New York was going to happen any moment now. Knowing what’s going to happened helped in a way but you were still nervous and when that day came you knew you needed to do everything you could to stop Loki.
xxxxx
Loki was in a room that was meant for the Hulk. Now everyone was in the lab fighting. You were standing next to Natasha, you knew what was going to happen. You tried to get everyone’s attention but it was no use.
Suddenly there was an explosion and you, Natasha and Bruce fell. You groaned as you stood up, you helped Natasha up.
“Are you okay?” You asked her. Your eyes widened when you saw Bruce turn into the Hulk. “Shit.” You turned to Natasha. “You need to go, go find Clint.”
“What? No I’m not leaving you (Y/N).” Natasha didn’t want to leave you.
You gave her a look. “You need to go now. I’ll be fine.” You smiled. “Now go.”
Once she was out of your view you turned back to where the Hulk was. “Hey!” You screamed to get his attention. Hulk growled as her came running after you.
You took off running. “That’s right come after me you big green monster!”
Right when the Hulk was about to grab you Thor showed up, now he was fighting the Hulk. You moved to a corner, you were breathing heavy and your heart was pounding.
Once your breathing was back to normal you got up and started fighting agents that were being controlled by Loki. You ran into the room where Fury and Maria were.
“Grenade!” Maria yelled.
Your eyes glowed blue as you used your powers to catch the grenade, you create a shield around it right before  it went off. After it went off your eyes turned back to their normal color.
“You two alright?” You ran over to Maria and Fury. They both nod.
“Thank you agent (L/N)” Fury said.
“You’re welcome sir.” You nod.
You heard Natasha talking through comms. She had found Clint and she was able to knock him out. That was one thing taken care of. Now there was just Loki to deal with.

The chitauri were everywhere. You were trying to stay by Natasha but during the battle you had gotten separated. While Natasha was fighting she was trying to look for you. She saw you getting surrounded by the chitauri. She quickly made her way towards you, any of the chitauri that got in her way she didn’t hesitate grab them and throw them out of her way.
You used your powers to grab one of the chitauri, you threw them against a building. Between using your powers you were also fighting them in hand to hand combat.
Looking up you saw Natasha making her way towards you. You could’ve swore you heard her growling but you brushed it off thinking you were just hearing things.
Between you and Natasha fighting side by side it didn’t take long to take care of the chitauri. You sighed when they were all down. You and Natasha both looked up when you saw Loki fly by with other chitauri chariot following him.
“I have an idea.” Natasha said. “I have a way to get on one of those things, but I could use a boost though.” She smirked at you.
You immediately knew what she was going to do. You walked over to the car she was standing next to before standing in front of her. “You sure about this?” You eyes glowed blue as you made a shield with your powers.
Natasha backs up so she could get a running start. “Yea. It's gonna be fun.” Natasha ran towards you, she jumped on your shield and you pushed it up to give her a boost.
You watched as she grabbed onto one of the chitauri chariot. You smiled before going back to the fight.

After Thor took Loki back to Asgard you moved into Stark Tower, now known as Avengers Tower. One night you couldn’t sleep so you went into the training room for a late night training session.
You looked out of the window and saw a full moon. That was when you saw Natasha walk past the training room. You frowned. What was she doing up? You were worried about her.
So you decided to follow her. When Natasha left the Avengers tower you started to become even more worried. Where was she going? You followed her until she got to Central Park. What was she doing there?
You found a tree and hid behind it so Natasha wouldn’t see you. That was when you saw her change into a werewolf. Your eyes widened, you had to put your hand over your mouth to keep yourself from gasping out loud. Natasha was a werewolf?!
Wanting to get a closer look at her, you slowly made your way to another hiding spot but as you were moving you stepped on a stick. Shit. You quickly hid. Natasha’s head snapped around in your direction. Her eyes weren’t their normal green anymore, they were a golden yellow color.
“Who’s there?!” She growled. “Come out right now.”
You were frozen in place. You weren’t scared of Natasha, you never were. Even now that you found out that she was a werewolf you still weren’t scared of her, you could never be scared of her.
“Whoever you are you better come out now!”
Taking a deep breath you moved out from your hiding spot, your hands held up. “It’s just me Nat.”
When Natasha saw you her eyes widened, her wolf ears lowered as she looked down. “How did you find me?”
“I was in the training room when you walked by, I was worried about you and I followed you.” You slowly made your way to her.
“You really shouldn’t have followed me (Y/N)...” Natasha couldn’t look at you, she couldn’t see the look you were giving her now that you found out what she was.
“Nat.” You were now in front of her. “Please look at me.” You softly said. She slowly looked at you, you smiled. You held your hand up. “May I?”
Natasha was confused but she nodded anyway. You gently placed your hand by her wolf ears, you started to carefully scratch behind her ears. At first it made her shiver but after a few seconds she started to really liked the feeling.

When Tony said that he found Loki’s scepter you know what was going to happen. You tried to get Tony to not make Ultron but he didn’t listen. During the party after the guests left it was just the Avengers when Ultron showed up. You immediately looked over at Tony and Bruce.
When the robots started attacking one of them went to grab you but Natasha growled before she grabbed you. She pulled you behind the bar, you landed on top of her and your face was against her chest.
“Um Nat?” Your face started heating up.
Natasha couldn’t help but smirk. For some time now Natasha had started to fall in love with you, she already considered you her mate. You had also fallen in love with Natasha but you were afraid that she wouldn’t feel the same.
“Sorry (Y/N).” She loosened her grip on you a little bit so you could sit up.
Before you knew it all the robots and Ultron were gone. You and Natasha moved out from behind the bar. You followed everyone so you all could try and find Ultron.
Once you got the location where Untron was headed you all got onto a quinjet. When you got to the Salvage yard you took a deep breath. You knew what Wanda was going to do to Natasha and you weren’t going to let that happen, you weren’t going to let her go through that.
As soon as Ultron attacked Tony and the fighting started you went to find Natasha. When you found her you saw Wanda was about to use her powers on her. You ran towards them and pushed Natasha out of the way.
The next thing you knew you were at the Civil War event. You saw your family fighting each other. Your eyes widened and tears started to roll down your cheeks. You tried yelling at them to stop but nothing you said was working. But then you realized this wasn’t real, it was Wanda messing with your mind.
Natasha looked at you with a worried look when she saw your face. She then looked at Wanda, she glared. “What the hell did you do to her?!” She growled. When Wanda didn’t answer her, Natasha’s eyes started to glow golden yellow. “What did you do?!”
You started wondering off trying to shake off the mind tricks Wanda was doing to you. As you were one of Ultron’s drones tried to grab you but Natasha immediately grabbed you.
When she found someplace safe she sat you down, Natasha knelt down in front of you, she cupped your face in her hands. “Hey, hey look at me.” She said softly. “Are you okay?” She ran her thumbs over your cheeks.
You looked at her, you shook your head as tears rolling down your cheeks. But then you remembered about the twins going after Bruce. You quickly got up and went after Tony. You wanted to help him stop the Hulk and you knew how to stop him.
“Tony!” You yell through the comms. “I know how to help the Hulk! You just need to keep him in place long enough for me to get to him!”
“I really hope this works (Y/N).”
You saw Tony holding the Hulk still. That was your chance. You ran over to them, you used your powers to take away what Wanda was making him see.
You saw the Hulk change back into Bruce, you sighed. It worked. But then you passed out from overusing your powers. Tony carried both you and Bruce back to the quinjet.
Natasha was pacing back and forth, she was worried about you. Then she saw Tony carrying you and Bruce, she started worrying even more. She ran over to Tony, she took you into her arms and held you close. The whole flight to Clint’s house Natasha never let you go.
xxxxx
When they got to Clint’s house Natasha carried you inside, she brought you into a room and laid you down. She brushed away some of your hair before leaning down, placing a tender kiss on your forehead. Natasha went to the other side of the room where there was a chair, she sat down. She wasn’t going to leave your side.
An hour later you slowly sat up, you put your hand on your forehead. Looking over you saw Natasha, she got up and went over to you. She sat down on the bed.
“Why did you push me out of the way?” She looked at you.
“I knew what she was going to do, I couldn’t let you go through that.” You slowly moved so you were sitting next to her.
Natasha closed her eyes for a second. “So that makes it okay for you to go through that? (Y/N) that look you had after she messed with your mind...”
You shook your head. You didn’t care about how much pain you were in, you knew what was going to happen and you didn’t want Natasha to go through that. “I would do it again and again if I had to. Nat I couldn’t let you go through that pain.”
You stood up and walked into the bathroom. Not long after you did you heard the bedroom door open and close. Sighing you walked out of the bathroom. You found a notebook and a pen and began writing a note to Natasha.
In the note you put that the note was in case you got kidnapped by Ultron and about your feelings for her. When you were done you put the note inside Natasha’s catsuit.
xxxxx
You, Steve, Natasha, and Clint were in Seoul. Steve went to go find Helen Cho. You were standing next to Natasha, she got on the motorcycle and you got on behind her. You blushed when your wrapped your arms around her waist.
“We got a window. Four, three...give 'em hell.“ Clint said before he dropped you out of the quinjet.
As Natasha was driving you were holding onto her tightly. Then you saw Steve's shield. “Nat.”
“I see it.” She smiled. You used your powers to grab Steve’s shield, you gave it to Natasha. “We’re always picking up after you boys.” Natasha sighed and you chuckled.
While Clint was telling Natasha which way to go you started to get really nervous. “Nat watch out for the pedestrians!”
Once she was back on the road you let out a sigh. Then you saw Steve fighting Ultron. “I’m going to help him. Can you get me close?” You grabbed the shield.
Natasha was able to get you close enough for you to use your powers to push yourself off the motorcycle. You gave Steve his shield and began fighting Ultron together. That was when you both got thrown into the train.
As you were about to get up you felt a gust of wind and saw Pietro, Wanda used her powers to try to trap Ultron but he escaped. You sighed and walked over to the twins.
“We need to stop this train.” You look at Pietro. “There’re civilians in our path, can you get them to safety?” He nods and speeds off. You look at Wanda. “We’re going to need to work together to stop this thing. Ready?” Wanda nods, you both use your powers to stop the train.
Once it stopped you took a deep breath, you looked at Wanda. “Nice job.”
Wanda looked at you with a confused look. “Why are you being so nice to me after what I did to you?”
“Because I know you were only doing what you thought was right. I know you’re a good person Wanda.” You smiled.
While you were busy talking to Wanda Ultron sneaks up behind up and knocked you out, he grabbed you.
“No!” Wanda screamed, she tried to use her powers to stop him but he just pushed her to the side and he flew off with you.
xxxxx
When Steve and the twins get back to the Avengers tower Natasha didn’t see you. She looked at Steve but before he was about to say something Wanda did.
“Ultron took her. I-I tried to save her but he just knocked me out of the way...” Wanda looked down, Pietro wrapped an arm around her.
Natasha growled. “We need to find her now!”
“Tasha calm down.” Clint walked up to her. “We’ll find her.”
“Don’t tell me to calm down Barton!” Her eyes started glowing golden yellow. She needed to find you, if something happened to you she wouldn’t know what to do.
Suddenly Wanda heard your voice in her head. Since you and Wanda had the same powers you could telepathically contact her no matter how far you were.
“Wanda, I’m in Sokovia. Ultron has me held at the Hydra base.”
Wanda’s eyes widened. “I know where Ultron took her!”
Everyone looked at her, Natasha glared at her. “How would you know?”
“She just told me. Since we have the same powers we can telepathically contact to each other no matter the distance.” Wanda looked at Natasha, she sighed when the redhead didn’t say anything. “She’s being held at the Hydra base in Sokovia.”
xxxxx
Natasha immediately ran off the quinjet as soon as they got to Sokovia. She ran towards the Hydra base. “(Y/N)?!”
Your head shot up when you heard Natasha’s voice. “Nat! I’m down here!” You moved to the front of your cell. You smiled when you saw Natasha.
As soon as Natasha got the door open she grabbed you and pulled you into a tight hug. Natasha sighed and nuzzled her face into your neck. You smiled and hugged her back.
Natasha pulled away from the hug slightly. “I found your note... I’m in love with you too (Y/N).”
Your eyes widened. “Y-you are? You’re not just saying that because of the note?”
Natasha smiled at you before she raised her hand up and cupped your cheek, she pulled you into a passionate kiss. When you felt her lips on yours your breath hitched. After a few seconds your eyes closed and your arms wrapped around her neck as you kissed her back.
xxxxx
After you and Natasha kissed you both finally joined the fight. During the fight you had noticed Wanda trying to hide. You quickly ran over to her, you grabbed her hand and you pulled her into a building so you two could be safe.
Wanda sits down, tears started rolling down her cheeks. “How could I let this happen? This is all my fault...”
“Hey.” You said as you knelt down in front of her. “None of this is your fault Wanda. You’re a good person and what you’ve done is in the past. The past doesn’t matter now.” You could sense more of Ultron’s drone‘s outside of the building. You closed your eyes for a second and took a deep breath before looking back at Wanda. “Once you walk out that door, you’re an Avenger.”
You stand up, your eyes glowing blue as you walk outside. You use your powers to take out some of the drone’s. Suddenly you see Wanda walk out, her eyes glowing red as she takes out the rest of the drone’s. You smiled at her, she smiled back at you.
During the fight you and Natasha had found each other. Tony said that he had a plan and everyone was meeting up to finally take out Ultron. You and Natasha had found a way to get there quickly.
“Romanoff you and (Y/N) better not be having a quickie.”
You were blushing like crazy. “Tony!” You cleared your throat. “Now isn’t the time for that and besides not all of us can fly.”
“Shut up Shell-head before I make you train with me. I’ll kick your ass over and over again.” Natasha growled as she rolled her eyes.
As soon as you and Natasha got to the Vibranium core the fighting began. When it was over Wanda said that she would protect the core, that it was her job. You were going to stay with her to help but she told you that she could handle it.
When you got to the lifeboats you saw Clint run towards a kid that was trapped, you then saw Pietro running after him. You knew what was going to happen. You couldn’t let that happen so you ran over to them, you used your powers to make a shield around all of you.
Once the coast was clear you let your shield fall. You looked at Clint and Pietro, they both were looking at you with shocked looks on their faces.
“What? Didn’t see that coming?” You smiled before giving them a serious look. “You need to help evacuate the city.”
“What about you?” Clint asked as he stood up.
“I’ll be fine.” You looked off in the distance before looking back at Pietro and Clint. “Go, I’ll be fine I promise.”
They didn’t want to leave you but they knew you wouldn’t let them stay. Once they were gone you sighed. You knew exactly where to find Ultron. You ran over there and sure enough there he was.
Ultron looked over at you. “If you stay you’ll be killed.”
“I know.” Your eyes glowed blue as you moved closer. “I just need to get rid of one loose end.” You used your powers to rip out Ultron’s heart. Suddenly you felt Sokovia start falling.
Natasha watched from the helicarrier with wide eyes. Then she realized you were still on Sokovia. “(Y/N)!”
You tried to use your powers to stop Sokovia from falling but it wasn’t enough. Vision came over to you, he grabbed you and held you as he took you back to the helicarrier.
Wanda and Pietro were the first ones to see you. They rushed over to you, they both hugged you tightly. They both helped you walk inside, they could tell you were really weak due to you overusing your powers to the point where your nose started bleeding.
“I... I tried... I’m so sorry.” You told them. You really tried to save Sokovia but you couldn’t.
Natasha saw Pietro and Wanda walk in with you. As soon as she saw you she let out a sigh of relief, she ran over to you and lifts you into her arms. She carried you to the med-bay so you could get checked out to make sure you were alright.
xxxxx
You smiled as you looked at the new Avengers compound. You felt Natasha walk up to you, she wrapped her arms around your waist from behind. You smiled and leaned into her embrace. Natasha placed a loving kiss on your neck.
Steve smiled when he saw this. He was really happy for the both of you. He walked over to the two of you. “Ready to train the new members of the team?”
Natasha removed her arms from your waist, she smiled. “Come on babe, let's beat 'em into shape.”
You laughed and shook your head before kissing her cheek. You, Natasha and Steve walked over to where new members of the team were. You looked at everyone before looking at Wanda and Pietro, you smiled and nod towards them.
When Steve came to you he talked to you about training the new members you told him that you wanted to train the Maximoff twins, he had laughed and told you that he was going to ask if you wanted to train them anyway.
Steve smirked. “Avengers assemble!”

Apprentice Questions
My answers to the wonderful list by @pumpkunbread.
Featuring Azalea Nevra @apprenticeazalea
1. Where is their favorite place to hang out in Vesuvia? Why? Azalea likes to hang out in the Marketplace.  She loves to watch the different kinds of people who come through there.  Wealthy, poor, locals, and visitors all come to the Marketplace.  Azalea loves to hear stories and laughter floating through the air.
2. How does your apprentice feel when they are called a witch? (Offended? Shrugs it off? Likes it?) Azalea does not like being called a witch.  It's not what she is.  She appreciates those who like the name, but she doesn't feel like it fits her.  And it doesn’t help that it seems to be a slur for magicians in Vesuvia.
3. Do they have a familiar? Why did you choose that animal? How did they meet? Azalea's familiar is a female white raven named Corva.  I chose a white raven because 1. I didn't see any other apprentice (at the time I started Arcana) with one, and 2. I just LOVE white ravens.  They. Are. GORGEOUS.  Please take some time to research this fascinating animal.  Azalea met Corva shortly after the events of the main storyline.  About six months later.  She is in the Marketplace getting some groceries for dinner that night when Malak swooped over her; cawing, very upset.  Azalea followed him to a dim alley where she saw a beautiful white raven laying on the ground with a broken wing.  Azalea took the raven home and cared for it.  She found out that it was a female by doing some research.  The two of them bonded while Azalea was caring for her, and once she was strong enough to fly again, she refused to leave.  So Azalea, being the nerd she is, named her "Corva" after the term "corvid" which is what the scientific term for a raven is.
Tumblr media
4. Are there any of Nadia’s sisters your apprentice would like to hang out with? Natiqa.  She and Azalea could get into so much mischief together!
5. What is their opinion of each of the courtiers? Valerius - He's a jerk.  Pure and simple. Valdemar - He gives Azalea the major creeps.  She doesn't like to be around him. Vlastomil - He is so ANNOYING.  His voice especially. Vulgora - ...She talks more than just a big game. Volta - She's so pitiful!!!  Oh, Azalea would hug her if she wasn't worried about being bitten.
6. What did they do while at the clinic? Azalea tended to the children.  It was absolutely heartbreaking because children never survived and were usually the first ones affected by the Plague.  But Azalea read stories to them, talked to them, and did little magic tricks to keep their spirits up.  She made sure that they knew that someone truly cared for them.
7. What are their tasks around the shop? What can they make? Azalea preps the herbs and reagents for the day's stock.  She also makes most of the potions that the shop sells.  She tends to leave the readings to Asra since he's much better at it and is a great showman.  She is very good at "trick" potions; like the drinks that make you levitate.
8. Describe their daily routine (wake up, chores, tasks, visiting who, etc) Azalea wakes up around 5:30am.  She makes some breakfast and tea, bathes and grooms, and then does some prep work for the shop:  chopping and grinding herbs, setting fresh herbs out to dry, setting/checking on simmering potions, bottling potions that are ready, dusting the shop.  She opens the shop around 8am and closes at 5pm.  After work, she will visit with Selasi in the Marketplace, pick up a few loaves of pumpkin bread, and head off to visit someone.   The evening will typically end up either with her going home after visiting or taking the visit elsewhere, like to the Rowdy Raven.  After that, Azalea will run home (via the rooftops, of course), relax with a lavender bath and then head to bed.
10. Describe their magical abilities. What are they best at? Worst? Azalea is very potent with lightning.  She is skilled at directing and controlling the electrical current, as well as utilizing lightning's explosive power.  (Think Ixion from FFX)  Her most impressive skill with lightning is when she uses it to create a shield around herself.  She is protected inside, but anyone approaching from the outside will be struck.
Tumblr media
Her worst magic is with water.  Since it is an opposing element, she isn't rather strong with it.
11. How do they get along with all the animals in the game? (Faust, Malak, Chandra, Pepi, Inanna, Camio, Melchior and Mercedes) Azalea gets along well with the other animals.  She respects them and lets them always approach her first.  She is soft in her tone when she speaks to them, and she is gentle with her pets.  She also treats each animal as an individual, since...well...they are.  She knows that Melchior likes rough belly rubs.  But Mercedes does not.  Chandra is a dignified bird, so Azalea speaks to her reverently.  But she baby-talks Pepi.  She talks to Faust in whatever way she pleases, and Faust doesn't mind.  She speaks to Malak and Corva like old friends.  She is soft and calming when she talks to Inanna.  She yells at Camio a lot.
12. Did they have a certain opinion about the palace and court before the events of the game? Did it change? Azalea didn't know much about the palace or the city court before the game.  She just sort of accepted them as being there and being the masters of the city guard.  Her opinion did change since she got to have a good taste of it for two weeks.  She came to see the heads of the city simply as people too.  They had their problems and their flaws, just like everyone else.  And just like everyone else, the bad ones got taken care of.  She didn't get into politics, because she finds it both boring and infuriating.
13. How do they feel about traveling in the realms? (Nervous? Excited? Other?) She was nervous the first time.  She just didn't know what to expect.  But every other time after that brought excitement to her.  Not just in exploring the magical realms, but being able to study and teach herself there without worrying about damaging the shop or wherever she happened to be.  She watched her own magical gate grow and become her own little paradise.  When she struck out to explore the realms on her own, she learned so many amazing things that she had dared not even dream of.
14. Where is their least favorite place in Vesuvia? Why? The Flooded District.  It makes her really sad.  She heard tales of how amazing of a place it had been and then...it just wasted away.
15. How did your apprentice feel about Asra leaving all the time? Taking care of them? About Asra taking care of her...Azalea always felt so very grateful.  He put up with so much during that time, and she knows that she owes the person she is now to him.  As for him leaving all the time...she was terrified at first.  She didn't know where he was going or if he was coming back...if he was angry at her for some reason.  She had started to regain her feelings for Asra while he was caring for her, but when he started to leave...she lost them.  It got to the point where she just wasn't surprised when he would announce his sudden departure.  She wouldn't worry anymore...he would be back soon enough.  But the constant abandonment she felt from him...for her, it killed any chance that he could have had at getting her back.
16. Name one thing your apprentice wants to see happen, or say to someone. Azalea wants to see Asra and Portia get together.  It is her OTP and she wants it to happen so badly.  She also wants to call Valerius a "thundercunt" to his face.
17. What is the outcome you see happening for your apprentice and their significant other? For Azalea and Julian:  A long happy life filled with adventure and the hunt for knowledge!  Julian becomes a well-respected Doctor, and Azalea becomes a university professor and a writer.  And they have two awesome kids: Nora and Rylen For Azalea and Lucio:  A long happy life filled with ASS-KICKING and growth.  Whether or not Lucio remains count, they strike out into the world and visit many places.  They fight monsters threatening villages, they fix a famine, they find a portal into an alternate dimension...  They end up with two amazing kids: Darien and Etoile
18. What would drive your apprentice so far as to strike a bargain? If there was absolutely no hope at all and her loved ones were in mortal danger.
19. At this point in the game, do they care more about recovering the rest of their memories or living as they are now? Azalea knows she can't get those memories back...and even if she could, they could change who she is now.  She likes herself.  So she is just happy to live for the now, not the then.  She got the basic info she needed...her parents' and aunt's names, what they were like, and how they died.  She doesn't need any more than that.
20. Would they be up for another Masquerade despite all that has happened? New outfit theme? Oh yes.  Despite all that went on, the Masquerade was amazing to Azalea.  She definitely wants to come back next year.  And for her outfit, she's thinking stellar.  Nebulae and swirling galaxies.  Yes.
21. What is their first reaction seeing their LI cry? Her reaction would be the same for either Julian or Lucio.  Her heart clenched up and her chest felt unbearably tight.  A horrible tickle played at her cheeks and she had to stop herself from crying as well.
22. Are they scared of what they have learned? Of the powers they have developed? Azalea embraces everything she learns.  Now knowing that she has the body of an Arcana, Azalea sets to practice harder and more strenuous spells.  She doesn't overdo it and she is cautious, but she finds out that her power has gotten hella strong.
23. Do they like snow? Have they seen it before? Azalea is not a fan of the cold, but she does love the snow.  She likes how it muffles the sound of everything when it's falling.  She likes the crunching sound it makes when you walk through it.  She likes to look out on a large expanse of undisturbed snow during mid-day and watch the sunlight sparkle on top of it before clouds cover the sun back up.
24. A magic lamp is found in the shop, and a genie inside gives them three wishes. What are they? 1. unending bountiful seasons for the farmers and fishermen 2. a booming city economy 3. that ship Julian wanted
25. Are they still scared of the lazeret? No. That place has no meaning to Azalea any more.  She died there.  Any connection she had otherwise is nonexistent, and she refuses to dwell on it.
26. Do they have nightmares? Will it continue/develop after recent events? No, Azalea has rather undisturbed sleep.  She makes dreamcatchers that keep the nightmares at bay.  With her LI, she couldn't be happier.
27. What is the best thing their significant other could do to cheer them up? Azalea is a sucker for cake.  Any cake.  Cake is always a mood-brightener, no matter how sad she is.  A good joke will work even more.
28. Describe what their magical realm gateway would be like? Azalea's gateway has three parts to it.  The first part is a snowy forest cast in eternal twilight that gives the snow a pink color.  Stars whirl overhead in the sky.
Tumblr media
The path goes on and the snow melts and the forest becomes alive with fireflies.
Tumblr media
And at the end, the forest clears out onto a sandy beach with a small cottage perched beyond the tideline.  The water vivid blue, and stars and nebulae fill the sky above.

the GM ask thing: 1, 6, 8
nat 1. most memorable crit fail by an NPC?
so a couple of sessions ago the airship the party was travelling on had been sabotaged by long-running antagonist aria nemo, the separatist mage– though this time she wasn’t after the party, but rather there in assistance of barrett antoine the privateer, who’d been commissioned to hunt down the fleeing deposed prince of the xeanid empire travelling on that very airship. aria had destroyed the ship’s elemental engine and aux power, and after a brief battle she teleported away with barrett and the prince. barrett’s ship fled too, leaving the party and the bevy of NPCs they were travelling with (this was the biggest battle i’d done to date) stuck on the deck of an airship that was rapidly losing altitude, plummeting into the icy mountain range below. the ship’s engineers, spurgeon bennett and yu cheng, had come up with a harebrained plan to open a portal to the plane of magic and use the energy to power the ship, but it required a series of difficult arcana checks (aided by the players). all the checks to properly construct the portal went fine, the two mage players knelt around the circle, spurgeon took the helm of the ship, and everyone made their checks to see if they could properly open the portal—
and yu rolled a nat one.
but my players rolled well! what ended up happening was that yu injured himself badly opening up the portal, and the responsibility for keeping the airship aloft fell fully onto the players. i had them make a straight up-and-down spellcasting check, and then based on that roll damage on their highest-level spell a couple times to see how much magical juice they could pump into this thing to keep it open— and because one of the players was a sorcerer focused (as sorcerers are wont to do) entirely on Making Big Explosions, it was a lot of juice. yu’s natural one meant that the airship came perilously close to crashing, and the sorcerer, a sixteen-year-old half-elf who’d spent her whole life in the shadow of her famous mage parents, threw everything she had into physically forcing it back into the sky, aided by the warlock who’d at that point become something of a surrogate parent. it was an amazing “captain america holding down a helicopter” superhero moment, and it would not have happened if not for that nat one.
6. proudest improvised moment that the players had no idea was improvised?
so for halloween we did a special spooky mystery session, right? it was set in the aftermath of the harvest ball, where someone (they didn’t know who yet) had summoned a chimera to wreak havoc and also knocked out the pcs’ mentor, a very powerful sorcerer. the players managed to defeat the beast and save the injured NPCs, barely, but the next session they realized that something funky was going on, because 1. the only pc up after defeating the chimera had seen something strange and 2. their mentor was now drained of all his magic through some kind of necromantic curse.
they stayed the night in the mansion of the host, an autumn eladrin noblewoman by the name of margueritte julien, and the next morning decided to check out the house to see if they could figure out what was going on. cue haunted house antics! eventually, the PCs figured out that
there was once a very powerful mage from this family by the name of jean-henri julien, who ascended to lichdom, was defeated by a knight of the raven queen, and then had his existence wiped from history so thoroughly that the only remnant of his memory was a letter by his grandson in the family archives;
there was necromantic activity happening in the crypt beneath the house— the crypt lady julien adamantly denied the existence of;
the person lilith had seen after the chimera was defeated was a necromancer.
from these facts they drew the conclusion i wanted them to draw: namely, the fellow lilith had seen was attempting to raise jean-henri julien (whose lich name was dominicus) from the dead, for uncertain-but-definitely-nefarious purposes. however, they then realized that they hadn’t seen their mentor, james (yes it’s the same james i play in another game), all day— and jumped quite quickly to the notion that montague, the necromancer, had kidnapped him.
now, this was totally not a part of my original plan! i knew i needed to get james out of the picture, because as delightful as the pcs’ interactions with him were, one cannot simply have an 18th-level spellcaster hanging around for your level 4 party to call on whenever, as they say, shit gets real. i’d intended just to have the draining of his abilities by a curse to be semi-permanent (maybe a later arc would deal with trying to cure him), but when the players assumed (on account of me failing to mention his whereabouts for most of the session) that monty had nabbed him, i very quickly incorporated that into the ending of the mystery. dominicus needed the body of someone accustomed enough to magic to not burn up when possessed by an arch-lich, but unable to resist him— of course james was the natural choice!
so the session ended with the party arriving to monty’s necromantic lab, right in the middle of his ritual to summon dominicus from the astral plane. cue a frantic struggle to kill monty before the ritual could be completed and their mentor possessed— a struggle which failed when malia, our sorcerer, missed with a last-ditch desperate chromatic orb that almost certainly would have killed him, giving monty just enough time to funnel the rest of his life-force into the completion of the ritual and fall dead at the party’s feet. james was possessed, they’d failed to stop the ritual, and to top it off lilith was dead (but that’s another story).
james-dominicus has become a biiiiig plot point for the rest of the campaign— malia keeps having dreams of playing illimat with him, where james is tapping out a message in the code he taught her when he trained with her, but she’s unsure whether it’s really him or dominicus trying to trick her. recently the party had an audience with james’s progenitor, king john the ancient gold dragon, where they begged him to intervene and he declined, citing his obligation to stay uninvolved as a ruler, and djedi spent a good twenty minutes arguing ethics with him. all the party members had really fascinating relationships with james— he’d been around since session 1— and their emotional reactions to his loss and the prospect of saving him have been super dynamic and amazingly fertile ground to drive the story forward.
8. coolest NPC you’ve designed that your players haven’t met yet?
oh, it’s gotta be jack bailey! they’ve met his younger brother edward, the halfling divination wizard and very nervous grad student, because he played a pretty central role in the last arc— it was his mentor whose mysterious death they were investigating. but where edward is notably nonconfrontational and bookish, jack’s the exact opposite. he’s a swashbuckling charmer who works as a travelling entertainer with a troupe of trained swordsmen— his act is acrobatic rapier and cutlass duelling. the brothers are a bit awkward around each other, as tends to happen with siblings who are close in age but not at all similar, but they love each other a lot. i’m looking forward to their reunion, and how they deal with the fact that edward came very close to sacrificing his life to protect the city of aelia capitolina from the diviner’s bomb that he’d unknowingly helped build.

Novel Prep Tag Game 2
So I did this one before, but the questions are so great I'm probably going to do this for every important story idea. So here goes the newest one!
Rules: Answer the questions and then tag as many writers as there are questions answered (or as many as you can) to spread the positivity! Even if these questions are not explicitly brought up in the novel, they are still good to keep in mind when writing.
1. Describe your novel in 1-2 sentences (elevator pitch)
A young ambassador tries to keep peace during the tournament where mages from different dimensions use their abilities for sport instead of combat for the first time after the Era of Wars.
2. How long do you plan for your novel to be? (Is it a novella, single book, book series, etc.)
A novel for now.
3. What is your novel’s aesthetic?
Changing dimensions. Big cities. Empty desolated desert. Seascape with scattered rocks.
4. What other stories inspire your novel?
Darker Shade of Magic series from V.A. Schwab, Masaryk movie, Megalo Box anime
5. Share 3+ images that give a feel for your novel
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
6. Who is your protagonist?
Anise the dimension ambassador. She is one of the strongest mages of her age, mastering the highest level of magic and has been selected by the current ruling mage family to keep peace and contact between her assigned dimensions.
7. Who is their closest ally?
The second prince Cole, who is Anise’s closest friend and also a participant in the games. Later the two get close with Rhys and Oliver.
8. Who is their enemy?
Officialy the participants of the games only in sporting manner. But mainly the prejudices and tension between the mages since the relationships are still strained after the wars and not every magic type is considered equally powerful.
9. What do they want more than anything?
Anise wants to be sure that her life has meaning, that she is living her life and using her talents the best way she can. Rhys wants to prove himself during the games. Cole wants to show his parents and the magic world he isn't a powerful prince just because of his birth, but because he earned the abilities he possesses. Oliver wants to know if he is good enough for the world.
Basically all characters struggle with feelings of worthlessness and how to feel valuable again.
10. Why can’t they have it?
Anise doesn't know what she wants or what she is missing, since she has a meaningful job, but doesn't enjoy her life. Rhys has been looked down upon and mistreated because of his affinity to fire magic (that is considered died out and blamed for causing the Era of Wars in the first place). Cole as the second prince doesn't get as much attention or recognition.
11. What do they wrongly believe about themselves?
Anise believes her job and magic abilities are the only things that make her valuable. Rhys believes he has to fight to feel alive because he doesn't have any real worth because of his magic.
12. Draw your protagonist! (Or share a description)
Anise is tall and slender girl, has long golden-blond wavy hair, grey eyes and ivory skin. She has very delicate features and is rather pale. She likes to wear blue clothes.
Rhys is muscular and tall with slightly tanned skin, black curly hair and blue eyes. He is covered in scars, most notably on his arms and on his right cheek.
Cole is tall, but less muscular then Rhys. He has slightly longer black hair, vibrant green eyes and fair skin.
Oliver has short black hair and dark blue eyes. He looks very similar to his older brother Rhys in features. He is 14 so he is short compared to the others.
Plot Points
13. What is the internal conflict?
Anise struggles with finding passion in her job, that despite being meaningful doesn't make her happy. She never knew what she wanted and followed her talent, because she isn't sure if who she really is, beside her talent in magic and intelligence, is worth anything.
Rhys feels empty and starved, frustrated about his life in a dying dimension with magic that marks him to other people as being dangerous and bad. He doesn't know what exactly he is seeking, but only feels alive when he fights and experiences the thrill of it.
14. What is the external conflict?
Anise wants to prove her competence as the dimensional ambassador. That she's self-reliant, mature and responsible enough and can use her magic for a good purpose and be part of something bigger then herself.
Rhys wants to advance and win in the games to prove himself and his worth. He hates being written off because of something he can't change and that is such a fundamental part of himself. Rhys wants to see how far he can go when he gives his maximum despite the conditions set on him by others. He also hates how he can't provide for his younger brother because of the prejudices and limits put on him by others because of his magic.
15. What is the worst thing that could happen to your protagonist?
For Anise it would be disappointing the king by failing at her task, and therefore failing as a person in her eyes.
For Rhys to go back to his previous life, being frustrated and letting his self-destructiveness destroy him slowly.
16. What secret will be revealed that changes the course of the story?
What kind of magic is the strongest? What privileges do the most powerful mages deserve? Is it correct and fair to judge someone according to their magic and the level of their abilities? How much does magic actually reveal about the user?
17. Do you know how it ends?
I have a general idea of the direction the story is headed and I know what the resolutions of the character arcs will be, but I don't have a definite ending. I'm trying to not to spoil myself, because often when I know the ending I lose intersting in writin the story.
18. What is the theme?
Self-worth, what people see as valuable in others and in themselves, drive, passion, prejudices, life purpose, direction, meaning
19. What is a reoccurring symbol?
Fire, river, sea, clouds, whirlwind of colours, magical portals
20. Where is the story set? (Share a description!)
It's set in a number of dimensions that mages can travel through. The first half of the story as well as the place for the games is on non-magical earth so no mage would have an advantage of channelling his original world for magic.
21. Do you have any images or scenes in your mind already?
Yes I have several scenes in my head, that I’m working on connecting into a logical plot.
22. What excited you about this story?
Magic as important part of the plot and symbol for the themes, the growing closeness between very different people, sibling relationship, friendship bonds and support
23. Tell us about your usual writing method!
I always start with characters that I stick in different scenarios or in my favourite movies and series or books and let them interact. From those I mostly get inspiring scenes that I try to connect through a plot. Afterwards I work on characterisation, world-building, research details and outline stuff a bit. I also write little snippets that sometimes turn long and can be used as chapters.

Fixing The Legend of Korra - Book 2
I’D LIKE TO CLARIFY THAT I IMAGINE THESE SEASONS TO BE 26-8 EPISODES IN LENGTH, YOUNG JUSTICE-STYLE, TO FIT EVERYTHING IN
ALSO THIS IS LONGER AND I TOOK MORE LIBERTIES WITH CANON BECAUSE BOOK 2 ISN’T THE GREATEST
Book 1 here  Book 3 here,  Book 4 here
BOOK 2
KORRA
When we start 6 months later Korra still doesn’t have her fire, earth or waterbending – but she’s still not mastered airbending because she associates it with her trauma.
This simultaneously justifies how protective Tenzin is, and how frustrating Korra’s airbending training has become – she’s stuck using the element least like her, forcing her to use cut-and-run tactics she hates
This also explains her frustrations with Mako – he’s fighting crime while she’s stuck on the island, feeling powerless. She’s angry at him for doing what she taught him to – embrace his gift. Their relationship is becoming unhealthy.
If Amon was powered by dark spirits it also explains why Korra is so angry her Dad has been hiding the spirit attacks in the South from her – in her head dark spirits are the thing that stole her bending, so she wants payback (which Tenzin is actively against)
This fear Korra will hurt herself also means Unalaqq’s faith in her will mean a lot more – we can see it positively impacting her
All this time we see Korra’s past lives debating what to do with her – Aang is defending her, but Kyoshi is taking a hardline approach – death and moving on to the next life?
After Korra shows herself to be completely useless against the first Dark Spirit attack, Kyoshi has enough and possesses Korra's body (like Roku did to Aang in ATLA 1x09 Avatar Roku). Team Avatar then have to hold off crazy Korra while she tries to reassert control over her own body
Kyoshi and Kurruk argue over who should be in control - the Water Tribes are his people - and Korra literally fights herself, destroying everything, as control switches between them (both Kyoshi and Kurruk try to flirt with Mako, which freaks him out)
Eventually it's Raava (unnamed and unknown at this point) who helps Korra reassert control - all the past Avatars are stunned she intervened
Only reopening the Southern portal gets Korra her bending back – the strengthened spiritual connection allows Raava to heal and reconnect her to the elements – Aang gets to say ‘I told you so’
Unalaqq's plan getting Korra's bending back explains her loyalty to him and desire to prove he’s a good person
Emphasise the familial connection between Unalaqq and Korra – maybe flashbacks to visits when she was a child?
Explore more Avatars' stories while we have the him, to deepen the impact losing her past lives has on Korra (she barely communicates with them in the original) - Aang sees a lot of similarities between Korra and Kyoshi, which worries him
Compare the active Korra to the last waterbending Avatar, Kurruk (the inactive guy who fought Ko the Face Stealer) - Unalaqq disapproves of him. Establish the Avatar was always flawed and prone to laziness
When Korra does get her bending back she’s boisterous and overzealous, driving Mako up the wall
Learning the origins of bending as a weapon against spirits in Wan's time causes Korra to reconsider the aggressive and excessive way she uses hers. She becomes a lot more self-conscious and careful
In Book 1 we established Korra had trouble with waterbending’s emotional side (accepting change and letting emotion flow) and Kya had to teach her using adapted firebending techniques
The conflicts of this book teach Korra (and Kya) to value her culture (the spiritual and emotional lessons it teaches) and she learns how to let her emotions flow from Katara
In the finale when Korra turns into a kid, have Naga be her guide, not the dragon-bird. It’s an awesome design, but it’d be cool to see Naga do her job as animal guide - she can have a crazy spirit form once Korra grows back up
UNALAQQ
I think this would be a really interesting opportunity to explore theocracies – If Unalaqq is the leader of a spiritual cult who worship Vaatu as a god. If spirits are influenced by human emotion, worship could do some very interesting, dangerous things
Have Katara also clash directly with Unalaqq (not physically, but in terms of ideals and influencing the people) as the South’s unofficial spiritual leader
Explore Unalaqq’s childhood, isolated and jealous of his brother (he’s basically Loki from Marvel, and he’s one of their most sympathetic villains)
Chart Unalaqq’s corruption under the influence of Vatuu – think the One Ring’s influence on Gollum – see him turn from a promising scholar to a scheming Machiavellian mastermind, turn it into a family tragedy
Also touch on the twins’ relationship with their father – I’m assuming it was cold and empty, like Mai’s relationship with her parents. But their parents are estranged (a result of Unalaqq’s fall) and their mother abandoned them, so he is all they have
Draw direct comparisons between this relationship and Tonraq’s relationship with Korra, which is almost too caring, yet at the same time he leys her be her own person in a way Unalaqq won’t let them – the twins don’t really get this kind of affection, though by the end of the season they express a wistful longing for what could have been
Asami relates to the evil father thing, and is a key instigator of their turning against Unalaqq
Lets see more of the actual Civil War in the South, to maintain the urgency of the plot – Tonraqq leading guerrilla warfare. Maybe one desperate moment where Katara comes in for support – not actual fighting, more like the wave from The Last Airbender Movie – something to scare pursuers off
ASAMI
In Republic City Asami is trying to put the Equalist experience behind her. This doesn’t work so well when she’s having to testify at her father’s trial at the beginning of the book
I think it’d be a tragic twist if the same day was the anniversary of her mother’s death, and she had to visit her grave (first one parent – in jail – and now the next – in prison). This compounds how lonely and directionless Asami is
At the same time, the Equalists (the same likeable Chi-blockers from Book 1) are attempting to gain legitimate democratic representation in the United Republic – something Raiko is understandably not keen on. Non-bender rights have actually back-slid in the wake of Amon’s revolution. They keep asking Asami to become their official representative – a multibillion-yuan company would make people take them seriously. Asami keeps turning them down because it’s bad for business, but she’s also not ready to go there emotionally
Asami comes to South Pole separately to Korra and the others – they bump into each other on the dock (which is super-awkward) and Bolin insists on going with her to see Varrick to get away from Makorra
Asami’s arc over the season is affirming she isn’t like her father (a legitimate worry, now she’s inherited his job and the Equalists want her to lead them) or Varrick – she is a good person and she wants to help people.
In the time when Korra doesn’t have her bending she and Asami bond over the frustrations of being a non-bender, and she helps Korra practice airbending – Korra now has much more respect for Asami, and her inferiority complex makes her think that, if it came down to it, Asami would be a better Avatar than her
Asami gradually becomes more involved in the Civil War conflict until by the end of the season she is basically Korra’s right-hand woman, and they have an extreme professional respect for each other – laying the groundwork for Book 3’s friendship/romance
In the finale Asami agrees to fund the Equalists’ political campaign – she is fully committed to righting her father’s wrongs and creating positive change (setting up the next book)
ATLA FAMILY TREE (KYA)
This a personal thing, but I think Kya would be much more interesting if she was Katara and Zuko’s daughter, and not Katara and Aang’s.
Because I’m rewriting Korra I’m taking liberties and declaring everything post-Sozin’s Comet fair game. No offence to any Kataang shippers out there (my first OTP), but I think it’d be more interesting if they broke up soon after the war ended and reality set in (I have many reasons why but that’s not why we’re here) and Katara eventually flalls for and marries Zuko
You could then have Tenzin’s mom be an air acolyte – I personally like the idea of Aang eventually ending up with Ty Lee because their humble monk/crazy flirty girl dynamic would be interesting, and there are loads of headcanons that Ty Lee has a connection to the airbenders.
Tenzin’s mom will have recently died so we don’t have to deal with another character, and we can still have an interesting pseudo-maternal relationship between all of Team Avatar’s kids and Katara
But imagine if Firelord Zuko’s firstborn, heir apparent to the throne of the Fire Nation, was a waterbender? Kya would’ve forfeited the throne as soon as her younger sibling was born (this could be a version of the Izumi character) and her roaming the world trying to find herself would have greater weight
Kya always connected more with Aang and Toph’s kids then her own sister – her arc over the season is reconnecting with them and creating her own family – maybe she and Tenzin clash, because she knows what it’s like to be disappointed by family and wants to tear down his delusions of Aang as the perfect father
ZUTARA + FAMILY
Because he’s now blood-related to Katara General Iroh has greater motivation to help in the war – he takes a leave of absence and goes with Korra to the Fire Nation to appeal for help. When they’re attacked by Eska and Desna, Korra saves Iroh from the dark spirit and he manages to make it home on his own.
He helps Lord Zuko sneak into the South on a small ship (paralleling Zuko sneaking in to the Northern Tribe in the ATLA book 1 finale) to go help Katara (Zuko splits his time between her and his responsibility to Izumi)
Zuko is present when the Krew arrive at the South on the Zhu Li. Zuko is horrified by what Unalaqq is doing to the spirits and explains the story of The Search comics to Korra in flashback – how a spirit gave his mother a new life and then reunited them years later. This story of inspiring positive interaction between humans and spirits is partly what motivates Korra to keep the portals open – tying it to the biggest mystery from ATLA means the choice is more likely to emotionally resonate with the audience
Compare how different Katara’s life is to her daughter’s – Katara settled hard when Kya never stopped running. This is because Katara wanted more than anything to be a good mom, because she knows what not having one is like, and no-one should ever go through that. There’s a suggestion that because of this Katara’s potential as a spiritual leader and figurehead wasn’t fully realised (a deficiency exploited by Unalaqq)  – she feels guilty, for failing both her tribe and Aang’s legacy
Kya reassures her before the final battle that she has nothing to regret – she’s an amazing mom. They reconnect, and Katara gets to make fun of her for her crush on Lin. Tenzin is the one to reassure her about Aang being proud of her, after returning from the spirit world
LIN
At the beginning of Book 2 Lin is being pushed out of the Police Force – Raiko wants her to retire. She knows it’s just because she’s still stuck being a non-bender (because Korra has fixed her own problems yet). Not only does this mean no-one trusts her to be as hands-on as she used to be, but to Raiko’s administration she is a scar left behind by one of the greatest instances of civil unrest in history – she is an unwelcome reminder of Amon
Bolin is drifting - he attempts to join the RCPD but flunks out when he's unable to metalbend - a frustrated Lin sympathises, but she's ha her own crisis of faith desperately drafting and training up new metal benders who have far less skill discipline and respect for the art than her - a teaching role she's clearly uncomfortable with
Insert flashbacks of Toph trying to teach Lin as a kid (Toph's line about her girls never taking to metalbending in Book 4 implies this wasn't happy). This plays as a tragic parody of Bitter Work - Lin suddenly has a bitter empathy for how her Mom felt
She starts receiving letters from Su, asking if she’s OK or if she needs help – these only make her angry, and she ignores them (Toph hasn’t sent her anything)
By the beginning of the book (I’m thinking we spend a whole episode in Republic City setting everything up, then move to the South in Episode 2) it’s gotten so bad that Kuvira turns up at Precinct One in full Zaofu guard uniform. She’s the only one with enough will and stubbornness to come down and try to talk some sense into Lin. Because she’s looking for the Chief, they send her to Lin’s favourite rookie – Mako.
Mako talks with Kuvira (at this point a complete stranger) and comes away really admiring her. This trip is the first time she’s taken administrative leave from Zaofu. She takes particular interest in how they deal with prisoners, and Mako’s upbringing comes up – she reassures him to hang in there, explaining her own tragic origin as an orphaned nobody. Mako is inspired (she reminds him of the way Korra used to be, the way he wishes she was now)
Lin, of course, kicks Kuvira out as soon as she recognises her uniform. This doesn’t go as smoothly as usual, though – Kuvira is one of the few people who can stand up to Lin, and leaves on her own terms.
Lin’s angry, near abusive reaction to Bolin's incompetence at metalbending makes him concerned about for her, not angry (Build a relationship between these characters!) and Lin realises she's becoming the worst parts of her mother. She needs a break to go find herself
She accepts an invitation (from Katara) to go to the Glacier Spirits Festival (Lin doesn’t really do vacations – she has nowhere else to go)
While in the South Lin’s interactions with the other Team Avatar kids are pretty awkward – she hasn’t talked to Bumi in literal decades – but she has a warm (if reluctant and awkward) surrogate mother relationship with Katara, which bonds everyone together
Kya and Lin in particular bond over both being outcasts, never feeling like they were what their parents wanted – I just really like the idea of Kyalin and want to see them interact – joking about their role reversal - Lin is soul-searching while Kya is the devoted daughter
Once Korra gets her bending back she cures Lin, and Lin comes storming back to the City with Mako, halting Raiko’s replacement plans
She is now a big supporter of non-bending rights, and together with Asami, by the end of the book she’s become an official advocate
MAKO & BOLIN
With benders gone Republic City is still in a semi crisis state, with electricity being rationed and the removal of a lot of triads' bending (and the prison break in the finale) sparking a full-on gang war keeping the RCPD busy
Mako’s colleagues are bitter he is only getting ahead in the RCPD because he is one of the rare benders left, and therefore more effective in fieldwork
Explore Mako’s struggle as a cop with ties to the triad – before he gets framed, establish no-one on the force really trusts him yet. Lin is sympathetic (suggest, when Su’s letters arrive, she’s trying to make up for what happened with Su becoming a criminal – saving Mako is equivalent to making up for her mistakes)
Lin believes Mako’s theory about Varrick after he gives her the evidence (her ignoring him is frustratingly dumb) . When Mako is framed and Raiko demands his arrest she secretly helps him go on the run
The triads nearly catch him and kill him, but he gets to Bolin’s new apartment in time
Have Bolin not be an idiot – after Mako warns him, he recognises who Varrick is. They’re actually really similar – both using a ridiculous personality to distract people
Bolin is the one to turn Mako in because he’s playing the long game, and recognises that in a holding cell Mako is safer than out on the streets where the Triads (and, he fears, Varrick, if the problem isn’t solved) are more likely to kill him
Life on the inside is still rough – explore that, have Mako be confronted by old acquaintances from his childhood, Equalists, and triads he’s put away as a cop. (He tries out some of his corny lines on them as a coping mechanism)
Now the brothers’ original dynamic is flipped – Bolin is the one supporting/protecting Mako as much as he can (sending in mover fan art as moral support etc.) Build the contrast between their lives – Mako in the gutter and Bolin living the high life.
Don’t prolong the love triangle – Makorra breaks up midway through the season, that’s it. Asami kisses him (?) but she feels really guilty about it because at this point she really respects Korra, so they don’t start dating again. No amnesia when Korra comes back. That’s it. Done.
RAAVA AND VAATU
Obviously explore Wan’s story more – maybe a four-part mini-movie like the ATLA finale. Explore Vaatu’s influence on humans, so Korra understands what he did to Unalaqq; have her sympathise and feel sorry for him
Establish the idea of Gaana, the original, primordial harmony spirit that split into Raava and Vaatu
A big complaint about Raava is she overwrites the explanation of the avatar cycle in ATLA as the combination of all the past Avatars’ knowledge. In this version, combine the two – make it clear that everyone reincarnates (Sozin into Zuko, Gyatso into Momo) but the Avatar is the only one who can communicate with their past lives, through Raava
During the finale let's see the chaos Harmonic Convergence is causing - Dark Spirits terrorising the world as in the third act of Ghostbusters
Also Asami goes ham with tons of gadgets she’s been developing with Varrick, and a customised plane, instead of sitting on the benches. She gets Jinora to the healing hut and then gets back just in time to bomb Unavaatu after he’s destroyed Raava, stopping him killing Korra’s physical form too. She takes Korra back to the Spirit World and the Tree of Time.

HERE'S WHAT I JUST REALIZED ABOUT YC
I'm not sure myself. The danger of symmetry, repetition and recursion.1 I ask myself what I've found life is too short for, the word that pops into my head is bullshit. The second counterintuitive point is that it's not that important to know a lot of what ends up driving you are the best predictor of how a startup will find the preceding portrait to be missing something: disasters.2 Copernicus' aesthetic objections to equants provided one essential motive for his rejection of the Ptolemaic system. Why do so few founders know whether they're default alive or default dead is that the founders will no longer have complete control. Google. The mercurial Spaniard himself declared: After Altamira, all is decadence. But if you consciously prioritize bullshit avoidance over other factors like money and prestige, you can use this information in a way that was entirely for the better. He had all of us roaring with laughter.
You only get 52 weekends with your 2 year old. $300 a month, which was an order of magnitude less important than solving the real problem. It was really close, too. If it seems surprising that the gap was so long, consider how little progress there was in math between Hellenistic times and the Renaissance. The era of credentials began to end when the power of large organizations peaked in the late twentieth century.3 The smarter spammers already avoid it. This lets me get ip addresses and prices intact. And while having the best people to work for him unless he is super convincing.
When we switch to the point where much of what you're measuring is artifacts of the way schools are organized is that we invest in the earliest phase. As those examples suggest, a recession may not be so naive as it sounds. Every startup's rule should be: spend little, and work fast. They generally prefer to use time in units of half a day at least. They think they're trying to avoid.4 What made YC successful was being able to pick good founders. But working on this is not going away. Most Perl hackers would agree that Perl 5 is more powerful than machine language. Hard as it is to believe now, the big money then was in banner ads.
The mercurial Spaniard himself declared: After Altamira, all is decadence. But there are at least big chunks of the world in 587, the Chinese system was very enlightened. Like angels, VCs prefer to invest in this startup. So it's annoying that we keep hearing from you, you should never do this.5 The safest kind were the ones that occur a lot. Blub? I can do at this computer is work. There are two senses of the word portal, what they do is related to strength. Many of which will make you a better parent when you do have kids. It's like skiing in that way.6 People need to feel that what they create can't be stolen.7 Of all the useful things we can say, which are the most general truths.
But I don't wish I were a better writer.8 Strangely enough, if you get this stuff, you already have most of what you want to slow down, your instinct is to lean back. The five languages that Eric Raymond recommends to hackers fall at various points on the power continuum, he doesn't know how anyone can get anything done with it. Sealing off this force has a double advantage. The component of entrepreneurship that really matters is domain expertise. The official story is that legacy status doesn't carry much weight, because all it does is break ties: applicants are bucketed by ability, and legacy status is only used to decide between the applicants in the bucket that straddles the cutoff. —Total 1950 100 This picture is unrealistic in several respects.
I went to work there. Others thought YC had some special insight about the future of technology. For every idea that times out, new ones become feasible. So keep typing!9 And when you convince them, use the same matter-of-fact language you used to convince yourself. And to support this claim I'll tell you now: bad shit is coming.10 I read a lot of other ambitious and technically minded people—probably more concentrated than you'll ever be again. Fortunately an audience for software is now only an http request away.11
The reason young founders go through the motions of starting a startup stays alive in everyone's brain. Then you can measure what credentials merely predict.12 Anything so admired and so difficult to read must have something in it, among other things, he tells would-be startup founders, and I have a separate laptop on the other. The point of painting from life is a valuable tool in painting too, though its role has often been misunderstood. I'm skeptical about the idea of starting a startup, you shouldn't worry that it isn't widely used. And yet in the very first filters I tried writing a Bayesian spam filter, it caught 99. You may not realize they're startup ideas, turn your mind into the type that startup ideas form in without any conscious effort.
They use the same matter-of-the-future, because this is what I call a spam-of-the-future, because this is what I call degeneration. Power Rangers Wing Commanders: Episode 1: Wings of Change Pt. 1
Greetings everyone! It is I, Spookyyenna! I’ve decided to return to Tumblr and give it another chance. And along with that, here is the first episode of my PR story! So if you’re a Power Rangers fan, then this is the story for you! Leave a comment and enjoy the story.
In the deep, dark, depths of space. There were multiple stars and planets orbiting around the cold and quiet atmosphere, but, suddenly a massive portal appeared and out came an alien spacecraft that was in the color of fuchsia with a hint of grey. It had two engines in the back and two sets of missiles under each wing. Inside the spacecraft were reptilian-like foot soldiers, otherwise known as, Nexors, were either carrying an alien blaster or a laser-blade. Their attire consists of a magenta battle armor and holsters for their weapons. Most of them patrol through the corridors, while others were guarding the more private parts of the ship. However, the only flaw about these reptilian-like beings was the fact that they lack basic knowledge and had tendencies to not follow simple directions. Luckily, there were four other beings that had more sense than these incompetent fools.
At the front of the ship, stood three different figures; each of them being an anthropomorphic animal. The tallest one was the timber wolf named Rag-Zar. He was a mighty warrior with a ferocious temper, a powerful saber, and a pack of mysterious daggers. The wolf also had a serious demeanor that meant business and most definitely wasn’t the type to fool around or to make “jokes”. He was also a general of sorts and he expects everything to go his way. Unfortunately, the other two weren’t so agreeable. One was a female spotted hyena named Sheira; she didn't fit the stereotypes about hyenas, although, she was fierce and was not to be underestimated. In combat, she fights to win, even if her opponent parishes in the process. Sheira also happens to be the master of blades. Whether it be a knife or a short sword, the cunning hyena will use it to her advantage. However, she doesn't work alone. By her side is her twin brother, Zerrick, a tough spotted hyena with a twisted personality and an underbite to boot. Unlike his twin sister, the spotted hyena can only handle one blade and solely relies on his gauntlet that he wields on his dominant wrist. These twin hyenas are extremely dangerous, especially when they work together. However, because they're brother and sister, they have a tendency to get into squabbles, in which, gives both Rag-Zar and their master a living headache. Unfortunately, it makes the latter more angry and more likely to punish the two mammals. However, when it comes to their undying loyalty to their master, there’s no doubt that they will be by their master’s side until the bitter end. But, for now, they all have their eyes set on conquering a new planet. A planet that is known throughout the entire universe; a planet known as, earth.
“How much longer until we reach the planet!? I’m dying to cause some destruction!” Zerrick asked with impatience and confidence in his voice.
“And as I told you 10 minutes ago...you impatient malcontent...we’ll get there WHEN WE GET THERE!!! NOW STOP PESTERING ME BEFORE I USE YOUR HEAD AS AN ORNAMENT PIECE!!!”  Rag-Zar yelled as he was getting sick of the hyena’s constant questions. “Why don’t you go bother your sister or something!?”
“Because she threatened to rip my fur off if I continue to pester her…plus she told me to bug you,” Zerrick pouted. “And must you always yell?! I swear you’re gonna lose your voice one of these days.”
Rag-Zar rolled his eyes before replying, “Not if I lose what’s left of my sanity and brain cells talking to you first.”
Zerrick took an offense to that statement and whipped out his gauntlet as he got up and personal in the ill-tempered wolf’s face. “Listen here snaggletooth! I may not be the brightest mammal in the room, but, I will NOT tolerate your petty insults. So take it back or I’ll-”
“Or you’ll what!?” Rag-Zar growled as he started to size up the hyena. “In case you forgot: I’m a wolf, I’m twice your size, I’m better than you in combat, and if it was up to me or even our master, I would’ve launched you to the nearest and biggest black hole that we can find in this galaxy.”
But before the two mammals could go any further with their confrontation, a sudden ear-piercing sound waived through their ears and caused them both to fall onto their knees and grip their ears in pure pain and agony as they whine and beg for the sound to stop and go away. Fortunately for Rag-Zar and Zerrick, the sound went away. Unfortunately, the source of the sound came from someone that they both feared and respected; their master. He was a tall individual with a dark demeanor and an aura that was made out of pure evil and darkness. He also wore a metallic-silver suit of armor with a hint of light green in some areas; most of his body, except for his mouth, was covered by the armor. In his dominant hand, which was his right, he wielded a mighty spear that glowed a dark purple-ish color when releasing the powerful sound waves. He then proceeded towards the two mammals as they were getting their second wind from the horrible ringing in their ears.
“Get up...Now!” he demanded as he stomped his spear on the ground. “You were supposed to be warriors. Not childish brats fighting over a toy! Sheira has more common sense than the both of you combine!” he continued as he glared at the two grown mammals. “If I hear any more of this nonsense between the two of you, I will turn you lot into fur and dust!! Am I understood!?” Dark Sparrow growled.
“Forgive us, Master Dark Sparrow!” Rag-Zar and Zerrick said in unison as they got back on their feet and bowed to show respect and forgiveness towards their master. Once that was said and done, both warriors stayed quiet and kept their distance from each other to avoid another confrontation. Dark Sparrow was satisfied with this result and walked back to his throne with a quiet but stoic look on his face as he had his mind on other things. But, suddenly, his train of thoughts came to a close when he was approached by his second-in-command; Sheira.
“I must apologize for my brother's childish behavior master,” bowed Sheira. “I'd say he needs more ‘home training’ but, I'm positive that it'll just go through his empty head. Like his brain!” she added, in which, earned her an embarrassing glare from her twin sibling and a light chuckle from Rag-Zar. “Anyways, I came to inform you that we are getting close to the designated planet.”
“Excellent!” Dark Sparrow smirked, “Engage the ship’s thrusters and prepare the Nexors for battle. I want to hear the inhabitants of this planet scream as we destroy their homes and watch them plea for mercy.” he smirks once more as he makes a tight fist.
“As you wish, Master.” Sheira bowed once more and proceeded with Dark Sparrow’s instructions as he took his seat on the throne. But not before giving a sinister laugh that echoed throughout the entire ship.
*Time: 8:00 am.
*Location: Earth.
*Destination: Finn Hill, California.
“Good Morning Finn Hill!! FHN Reporter J.B Bell, here reporting live from Downtown on this beautiful Monday morning!” The news reporter announced with great enthusiasm in his voice. He was an anthropomorphic blue jay with feathers that were groomed to the touch. He also wore a grey business suit with a white shirt and a blue tie under. “The Mayor will be holding a special celebration in honor of the city's founder; Finnigan Weston Hill. We will keep you guys updated at the station as preparations for the big event is in progress. This is J.B. Bell, signing off.” and with that, the avian news reporter took a huge breath relief before retreating to the news van and grabbing a bottle of water. “That was exhausting…”
“Nice work J.B.!” Said the cameraman as he turned off the camera and put it into the van. He was a middle-aged man with light skin, jet black hair and a slightly receding hairline. His uniform mainly consists of a leather jacket with a crimson t-shirt underneath, a pair of navy blue jeans, and grey sneakers. “You always know how to start everyone's day.”
“...Thanks, Leonardo.” J.B. yawned. “I'm not used to being out so early in the morning...not since high school at least. But enough about me, how you've been doing since...you know…?”
The cameraman, Leonardo, got quiet and sheepish. He knew what question his boss and friend was about to ask, and it made him uncomfortable every time. But Leonardo knew, if he doesn't talk about it, it'll drive him crazy for months. “I-I’ve been alright...I guess… it's just something new for me to deal with..”
“Leo…I'm sorry. M-Maybe it was too soon to bring it up,” Said J.B. “If you don't feel comfortable talking about it, I understand.”
“Jerome-Bernard Bell,” Leonardo started. “It’s okay. I’ll be alright. Getting divorced can have different effects on people; Ava needs her space and our son is handling it in his own way. Although, I can’t imagine he’s hurt about this.”
“Yeesh...the only people that full-named me were my parents, my partner, and our boss. But I didn’t think you had it in you...” J.B. replied bashfully. “But you make a good point tho Leo. C’mon! Let’s go make sure the equipment is set up correctly. That should take your mind off things.” he says as he smiled at his cameraman.
Leonardo appreciated the suggestion from his news partner/friend as he follows him back to his van. Suddenly both individuals and their vehicle were overcast by a massive shadow. They looked up at the sky and saw a massive spacecraft hover over them until three figures teleported to the ground with their weapons in their paws. J.B. and Leonardo were stunned with fear and couldn’t move a muscle. All they could do was watch as the three figures walk up to them with the female one pointing one of her blades at the frightened avian’s throat.
“Alright, bird boy. Unless you want to be a featherless bird, you better start talking.” the female figure threatened. “What’s the name of this civilization that you, earthlings, call ‘home’?”
“F-Finn Hill...Finn Hill, California. T-That’s the name of our city. I swear that’s all I know.”
“Hmph! Smart bird. I’ll let you live. For now. You might get lucky and get enslaved for all of eternity. Now for your friend over here,” she says as she puts one arm around Leo’s neck, with the other one wielding a blade that is aimed at the side of it. “So, ‘quiet one’ who’s the leader of this place, that you call Finn...Hill…?”
Leonardo stayed quiet for a few seconds which honestly felt like forever. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to talk or not. But, he knows if he doesn’t speak, the female figure and her two companions could hurt J.B. or worse. “...our ‘leader’ is Mayor Suzuki. That’s all I know as well. Please, we both have families. I couldn’t forgive myself if anything happened to them…” Leonardo pleaded.
“Save your pity party for the next group of invaders who actually cares about your simple lives,” the female figure sassed. “Rag-Zar, be a good boy and take care of these two. We got all of the information that we needed.”
“I’m not your little ‘puppy-dog’ Sheira! But as you wish.” said Rag-Zar, as he began to, murmur an ancient spell with his paws and eyes glowing a bright orange-ish color. Once he was done with the spell, the male wolf zaps the avian and human, as he put them both in an energy sphere, in which, puts the two in a sleeping trance. “Shall I leave them here? Or do we allow the master to deal with these two witnesses?”
Sheira smiled devilishly at the energy sphere, before replying with, “Don’t worry. The master is already in the midst of a plan.”
Time: 9:00
Location: Finn Hill High School
BRRRRIIINNNGGGGG!!!
As the school bell ranged, students of all shapes, sizes, colors, and species were roaming all over the hallways. Most of them trying to find their classes or their friends in all of the chaos. But before it can get any louder and crazy, a large brown bear in a blue blazer with matching trousers walked into the middle of the hallway with a cup of coffee in one paw and a silver whistle in the other. He then proceeds to blow into the small instrument, in which, got every student to quiet down and give their attention to the large mammal in the center.
“I hate to ruin your meetups and conversations, but the first bell just rang. And If you don’t like to spend your first day back at school in detention, then I suggest we all go to class, Yes?” the mammal smiled.
“Yes, Principal Bernstein…” the crowd of students replied with a few of them grunting and rolling their eyes in annoyance.
“That’s better,” said Principal Bernstein as he started to make his way back to the office. Along the way, he said good morning to a few students and fellow faculty as they all headed off to their individual classrooms and offices. Suddenly a blur, which was in the form of a student, flew past the principal. Miraculously, the bear already recognized the student and immediately stopped him in his tracks. “Running late again...Mr. Jones?”
The student stopped in his tracks and turned around in a very awkward matter. He also had a sheepish grin on his face. “Heyyy, Principal B! How’s it hanging? Did you do something to your fur? It looks so smooth and ravishing” the student said as he tried to sweet-talk his way out of the situation. But alas, this wasn’t going to end well.
“...Detention?” the student sighed.
“Same time after school, Mr. Jones. Don’t be late,” said Principal Bernstein as he gave the student a pink slip before heading back to his office.
“Yes, sir...I’ll be there,” the student sighed once more as he shoved the slip into his back pocket and proceeded towards his classroom. “Smooth move Roy Jones. ‘How’s it hanging’!? God that was cliche. I need to come up with some better material.”
Inside one classroom, the teacher was given a history lesson about the city of Mariner Bay and the ancient burial ground that is located underground. But before the teacher could go any further with her lesson, the classroom door was opened to reveal super-late student, Roy Jones, who quickly took to his seat as he was getting menacing daggers from his teacher and awkward stares from his fellow classmates. Especially from one student who was not only a friend of his, but he was also a German Shepherd; he had blue eyes, tan fur, black markings on his nose, ears, and his tail. He was also wearing a sleeveless green t-shirt and a pair of blue jean shorts.
“Let me guess: Trying to impress a couple of girls? Failed to skip class? Or better yet, tried to stay home sick?” the shepherd raised his eyebrow.
“Worst my canine compadre,” Roy replied. Overslept, missed the bus, and got the infamous pink slip from good ol’ grizzly butt.”
“Ouch. That’s what happens when you have an all-night movie marathon. And I told you to get your rest too.” the shepherd scolded. “Plus, as your friend, I think you need-” but before the teenage canine could finish his sentence, his teacher stormed over to his desk and slammed a pink slip on his desk. “Oh no…” he groaned.
“I’m sorry Adrian, but you already know that I have a no talking policy in my class.” said the teacher as she gave the shepherd a disappointing stare before returning to the classroom board.
“I never get detention…” Adrian whined as his ears folded to the back of his head. “Ugh, my parents are gonna kill me..”
“Aww c’mon dude! Cheer up,” said Roy. “Your boy, El Roylando, will keep you company!” he smirked.
“Joy…” Adrian replied in a deadpan tone.
Down by the football field…
A group of students in gym uniforms was lining up at the front of the track for their daily classroom laps. On the sidelines were the two P.E. coaches; one was an anthropomorphic Red-Tailed Hawk in a male uniform and a school official cap and the other was a female coach with a tan muscle tone and in a female uniform.
“Alright, everyone! Listen up!!” said the avian coach, “I want you all to run your fastest! I want you to sweat! And I don’t want any bland excuses--unless your paw or ankle is twisted, suck it up and run. Am I clear?”
“Yes Coach Talon…” the students mumbled.
“I said...AM I CLEAR!? OR DO I NEED TO ADD 50 PUSHUPS TO EACH LAP?” he shouted as his feathers start to ruffle from anger.
Without another peep, all of the students got into their starting positions in fear of making their coach angrier. Three students, in particular, were having a private conversation amongst themselves. Two of them were male and the third one was a female; one was a Red Doberman, the other one was a Welsh Corgi, and the third one was a Caucasian female with a grey pixie cut.
“Yo, what’s birdbrain's problem?” the Doberman grumbled, “It’s not our fault that we’re tired and not in the mood to run.
“Exactly bro!” the Corgi added, “I was working my tail off this entire summer! My paws and body ain’t build for this stuff! What am I? A Pitbull!?” he scoffed.
“Don’t be such a puppy Billy,” said the female student. “You’re a squirt, yes, but you need to get rid of those extra pounds. Especially in the gut area,” she added as she poked his belly.
“Hey! I may be short, but, I am not fat! And you know it, Mira.” Billy growled.
Mira laughed as she watches her short canine friend try and fail to be threatening. But to the teenage girl, it was both entertaining and adorable. “Poor Billy...so ‘scary’ and cute.”
“...Forget you, Mira.” Billy blushed with embarrassment as he rubbed his belly.
“Okay you two, save the insults for a chump that deserves it,” said Nelson as he glared at a male student with red hair, light green eyes, and freckles on his nose. “You’re going down Anderson...that I can promise you.”
And with that, the female coach blew the coach and all of the students took off in a matter of seconds. Most of the canine and feline students, with the exception of the red-haired student, taking the lead. The red-haired student was completely focused as he kept a good and steady focus on running until something, or someone broke his concentration and made him fall to the ground. Once the student got back on his feet, he heard immense sounds of laughing and teasing from the trio of students. Mostly from the Welsh Corgi and Red Doberman. They then proceed to whip out their phones and start recording the student.
“Is that even necessary Nelson?” asked the student, “like your ego needs to be any bigger than your test scores.”
“What do you care Jerry-boy!? I think it’s about time that a ‘good guy’ like you be put in his place!” Billy smirked. “Ain’t that right Nelson?”
Nelson nodded before saying “You may be the ‘star’ of the track team Anderson...but you’ll always be a goody-two-shoes loser!” the Doberman laughed.
“Ha! Good one bro!” said Billy as he joined his friend in the laugh.
The student rolled his eyes in annoyance as he proceeded to catch up with his fellow classmates. But just before he could get a running start, he was forcefully tackled to the ground by Nelson. As he tried to get his bearings, the Red Doberman kept him pinned to the ground as he got in the student’s face before saying, “Going somewhere, Anderson…? You and I got some unfinished business.” as he said that, the canine grew a cruel smile, and made his paw into a fist before striking the student in the face.
Back at the bleachers the female coach, otherwise known as, Coach Eloise Landers was patching up the red-haired student’s injuries after his sudden encounter with Nelson Skuller, the Red Doberman that loves to terrorize other students that are scared of him.
“Coach Landers, I’m fine! It’s just a couple of bruises.” said the student as he winced from the stinging sensation of alcohol being dabbed on his cheek.
“Maybe so Jeremy,” said Coach Landers. “But those bruises aren’t going to heal themselves. However, though, I’m just glad you didn’t turn it into a full-on-brawl. As for Nelson...he’ll be punished for not only his brash actions but, for also attacking another student. Is that okay with you Jeremy?”
“Yes Coach Landers,” Jeremy replied. “And besides, Nelson has had it for me and other students since last year. But I’m not gonna let a bully like him bring me down. And if he gives anyone else problems, I’ll be sure to tell Principal Bernstein.” he reassured.
“I’m glad to hear that Jeremy,” Coach Landers replied back. “And it looks you got some visitors,” she says as three of Jeremy’s classmates and one of the cheerleaders walked up to them.
“Yo, Jeremy, are you okay?” An ocelot student asked. “Nelson was a real punk for throwing that punch.”
“I agree,” a female deer student added. “I’m surprised you didn’t knock that malcontent’s teeth in. Or at least retaliate against his goons.”
“C’mon Natalie!” said another student. “You know Jeremy isn’t the type to pick a fight with someone like Nelson. He’s more of a peacekeeper anyway.”
“Okay guys, I’m sure Jeremy would like some alone time now,” the cheerleader smiled. She was African-American with light-orange eyes, all black hair with a streak of yellow in the middle, and she was also wearing an orange and purple cheerleader’ uniform. “And about Nelson; he’s just a big puppy with a childish grudge.” she winked.
“Hehe! Thanks, Kayla, thanks, guys.” Jeremy smiled.  “I appreciate all of you checking on me, but I’ll be fine, get back to running before Coach Talon loses any more feathers.”
Agreeing with their friend and not wanting to tick off the already agitated avian coach, Jeremy’s classmates went back to the track to continue their laps and Kayla went back to practicing her routine with the other cheerleaders. But, unbeknown to them they were being watched by two mysterious men inside of an all black SUV. One man had his hand on the wheel and was looking through a pair of binoculars, while the other man was talking through a communicator in his ear.
“No signs of any suspicious activity Commander. But we’ve identified both Mr. Anderson and Ms. Hopkins, no sign of the other three yet.”
“Excellent work Agent! Knowing Mr. Jones and Mr. Cooper, they’re most likely in class. As for Ms. Garcia, she’s probably playing hooky or in detention. She’s rebellious--but she has spunk. Keep me posted agent.”
“Yes, sir. Signing out,” the agent took his fingers off the communicator and put his attention back on his partner and the students of Finn Hill High School. “How’s it going?”
“Like you told the commander,” the other agent replied. “No signs of suspicious activity. And may I ask? Why are we spying on five specific teenagers? I’m sure the commander or at least the professor has a good explanation for this.”
“They do actually,” said the first agent. “It’s for a ‘Top Secret’ project. Otherwise known as, Operation: Wing Commanders.”
Up in the sky, a military aircraft carrier was hovering over Finn Hill. It had four powerful engines that keep the entire ship airborne, state-of-the-art weaponry, a runway to launch and land all aircraft vehicles and cargo, and a built-in cloaking device to keep it hidden and safe from enemies to uninvited guests. Inside the carrier was a huge base where multiple agents and soldiers were hard at work at monitoring the activities of the city while others are deployed and tasked with secret missions. At the center of the base was a middle-aged man who donned the uniform of a commanding officer; his facial features include a grey mustache, sideburns, and a scar on his right eyebrow. Next to him was a male anthropomorphic Red Fox, who was donning a lab coat, a purple t-shirt, and a pair of grey slacks. He also had golden eyes and was sporting a pair of spectacles.
“Remind me again Ethan...why teenagers?” asked the vulpine. “And please don’t say ‘because they have the attitude!’, not only is that a common stereotype about teenagers, they always have an attitude, they constantly complain about everything, and they have the attention span of a-”
“Well, Jonathon,” Ethan replied. “I’m 100% sure that most of the things you just said are common stereotypes about teenagers. Am I wrong?” he smirked.
“Alright, alright, don’t be so smug of yourself,” Jonathon rolled his eyes. “Anyways, about Operation: Wing Commanders, I made some minor adjustments to the ‘gears and tools’ that we need for the five chosen teenagers.”
“That’s good to hear John,” Ethan nodded. “How long until they’re ready?”
“Just a little bit longer,” John replied. “I need to make sure they don’t malfunction during battles and work any bugs out of the system.”
Suddenly, an emergency alarm went off and the entire base was repeatedly flashing red lights. Some of the agents and soldiers went to their stations to track down the source of the emergency alarm, and others were trying to get all of the monitors turned on to see live footage of the potential threat. Once the screens were turned on, live video footage played of Dark Sparrow and his minions in the middle of town, with their now three hostages, trapped inside the same energy orb from before while still being in an unconscious state.
“Commander, who is that?” one of the soldiers asked.
“I don’t know,” the commander replied. “Turn it up! I want to hear what he has to say.”
“Attention! Earthlings of Finn Hill! You probably don’t know who I am. But, allow me to introduce myself; I am Dark Sparrow. An intergalactic space pirate, conquer of planets, and destroyer of the weak! Now then--the reason I came to your planet. It’s a simple reason; I want to rule it. But not just rule it. I want to enslave all life on this threshold you call home. Some of you will become warriors of my army or even my personal slaves. Whether you like it or not. Because, as of today, I am your new ruler! And if anyone dares to defy me...here’s what happens:"
Dark Sparrow aimed his hand at the energy sphere as he fired a jolt of dark energy which caused the hostages to scream in pain and agony. Along with this, Rag-Zar and Sheira launched multiple blade slashes at several buildings which resulted in all of them exploding and crumbling down to the streets below. People and children were screaming and crying as they ran to take cover and find shelter. Unfortunately, some weren’t so lucky and got badly injured in the chaos.
“Your time is running out Finn Hill! Make your choice: Accept me as your new leader or Perish along with these hostages and the rest of your precious city. Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock."
End of Transmission
“Oh my god…” Jonathon gasped. “H-He can’t be serious…”
“This is a Code Red Emergency! All hands on deck! NOW!!” Ethan commanded. “I need a medical team and an evac team down to the city! We got casualties who are severely injured or worse. This is not a drill people, I repeat, this is Not. A. Drill.”
“SIR! YES, SIR!” all of the soldiers shouted as they prepare to deploy down to the city.
Ethan placed his hand on his fox companion’s shoulder before saying, “Professor, how fast can you get those ‘gears and tools’ done?”
The vulpine readjusted his spectacles and gave his commanding officer and companion a reassuring smirk. “Faster than you can say Lightspeed, Commander.”
“All I needed to hear,” the commander nodded before turning on his earpiece. “Agents, assemble the rangers.”
Back at the school, Principal Bernstein was in his office, drinking his second cup of coffee, and reading the reports about a troubled student who has once again caused mischief. The Ursa sighed in frustration, knowing that, this wasn’t the first time he had to deal with this particular student. Ironically enough, it was only the first day of school. It's going to be a very long day.
“Mrs. Evans, would you kindly send Ms. Garcia into my office please?” Principal Bernstein asked, via intercom.
“Right away sir,” she replied back. “Here she comes now.”
And right on cue, a female student walked into the office and made herself comfortable by sitting in one of the available seats and planting her pink sneakers on the principal’s desk. The student was wearing a pink hoodie with a plain white shirt under, a pair of baggy jeans with holes in the knee area, and a pink beanie with a bunny skull in the center. “What am I in for this time chief?”
“That’s Principal to you, young lady,” glared Principal Bernstein. “And as for what you’re in for; playing hooky and spray painting ‘PINK PUNK’ all over the lockers of FH High students, Nelson Skuller, Billy Blake, and Mira Thompson. Care to explain, Ms. Garcia?” he raised his eyebrow.
“What can I say? Social Studies isn’t my forte,” she shrugged nonchalantly. “And as for those three chumps, they deserved it. They think because they’re the ‘Alphas’ of the school, they have the everloving right to harass anyone whenever and whatever they want! Someone’s gotta stand up to them.” she says as she crosses her arms in defiance.
“Ms. Gar--Lucy,” Principle Bernstein cleared his throat. “While I understand your concern. And I really do. But I don’t think vandalizing a fellow student’s locker is the right way to get back at a bully.”
“Then what would you do!? Let them off the hook!? Someone has to stop this!” exclaimed Lucy.
“Lucy, please try to listen. You can’t just put matters into your own hands and expect bad students to stop bullying other students.”
As Lucy was about to give the principal another piece of her mind, one of the mysterious men in black walked into the office and grabbed the teenage girl by her arm. “Lucy Garcia. I’ll need you to come with me.”
“Hold up business dude!” Lucy struggled. “Who the heck are you!? Where are you taking me!? And how do you know my name!?”
“All of your questions will be answered soon. But for now, I need you to calm down and come with me,” The man replied as he calmly took Lucy out of the office. Leaving the poor principle dazed and very confused.
“...I’m switching to decaf.”
Meanwhile, the other mysterious man in black was escorting Adrian and Roy, outside, towards his vehicle.
“So...are you with Secret Services? or the CIA?” asked Roy. “Because if you are, I’m willing to joy. If the pay is good of course.”
“That’s confidential information, Mr. Jones,” the man replied. “And I’m going to have to ask you to refrain from asking any more questions until we reach our destination.”
Roy nodded to the man’s request, but, he decided to open his mouth once more. “But can I just say-”
“Roy,” Adrian said sternly. “Please shut up. I got detention for the first time, I might get grounded until I graduate High School, and we’re possibly being kidnapped,” Adrian added as he starts to rub his temple from all of the stress. And with that, Roy kept his mouth shut as he and Adrian entered the back seat of the man’s vehicle. Once they were inside, they were greeted by two other students, Jeremy Anderson, and Kayla Hopkins.
“Well, well, well,” Roy smirked. “It seems we have a cheerleader amongst us. How's it hanging sunshine?”
“Get a reality check, Jones.” Kayla sassed. “We all got ‘escorted’ out of class by a couple of dudes in business suits, and you’re choosing now to make flirty advances? Not your brightest moment.”
“Agreed,” Jeremy and Adrian said in unison.
“Oh, who asked you guys…?” Roy grumbled. “But in all honesty, why are we here? We didn’t do anything wrong.”
“I’m with Jones on this one,” said Kayla. “They must’ve had a good reason for why they chose us four and nobody else.”
“It’s about to be five,” Jeremy pointed out as he saw one of the men in black came back with a reluctant Lucy who was trying to break free of his grip. He soon got out of the way as she ferociously opened the door to the vehicle and sat next to the teenage redhead.
“Sheesh, they got you guys too huh?” Exclaimed Lucy. “So who am I stuck with? The pretty boy, cocky smartmouth, madam pep squad, and the good boy.” she snarked.
The other four teens made very unamusing expressions at Lucy, as they weren’t a fan of the rebel teen’s nicknames for them. “Tough crowd,” she says. “and I thought my abuela and tia were hard to laugh.” Lucy shrugged as she sat back and enjoyed the ride.
And so, the five teenagers were assembled into the vehicle and are currently being transported to an unknown location. Unbeknownst to them, their lives will never be the same. Once they were on the highway, one of the men in black, who was driving, started to pick up speed in a very increasing rate. “Prepare for flight mode.” said one of the men.
“Roger that,” the other man replied. “Should we give them the heads up? This might be a bumpy experience for them.”
“Nah, let them experience it for themselves,” He smirked. “It's always fun to watch the newbies scream and squirm. And besides, they’re teenagers. I’m sure they’ve been through worse.”
In the backseat of the SUV, the five teenagers were starting to get weary and notice something was wrong. Adrian was looking out the window and noticed that they were going a little bit faster than usual, Roy was trying to comfort Kayla by putting his arm around her shoulder, but, all he got was a hard elbow blow to the side, Jeremy was wondering where he and his fellow schoolmates were going, and Lucy was keeping herself distracted by listening to her music. Then suddenly, the SUV started to pick up even more speed and it forced the teens to sit back and tightened their seatbelts.
“Why are we going so fast? Don’t they know about the speed limits here?” asked Adrian.
“They’re probably in a hurry to get somewhere...” said Roy as he began stretching. “Wake me up when we’ve reached our abductor’s hideout,” he says as he starts to fall asleep.
“You’re a lost cause Jones…” Kayla mumbled.
Meanwhile, outside the SUV started to transform. First off, jet wings started to appear on both sides of the vehicle, then the wheels began to hover, in which, caused the whole vehicle to float above the ground and start to take flight, and finally a pair of twin thrusters formed from the back of the vehicle and were starting to power up. Inside the vehicle, a female A.I. voice came on and stated the following: Preparing for Launch! Please make sure all seatbelts are fastened, secured, and everyone is in their assigned seats. Thank you and have a nice day~
“Well that wasn’t too bad,” said Adrian. “At least we can relax now.”
Initiating Countdown: In 5…
“We’re doomed,” Adrian sighed.
4…
“Get ready guys! This is gonna be intense!” informed Jeremy.
3…
“Thanks for the heads up Red,” said Lucy as she gives Jeremy, a mocking salute. “I think we’re completely aware that we may possibly die.”
2…
“Would it kill you to not be a sarcastic smart alec for five minutes?” Kayla asked in a frustrated tone, “I mean seriously, don’t you care that we might not see our friends and family again?”
1…
“Of course I do!” Lucy replied. “But you should be telling that to Prince Snoozy-Butt next to you,” she says as she nods her head at Roy, who was not only snoring but was starting to drool a little.
Ignition!
And just like that, the vehicle blasted off into the sky in a matter of seconds. Leaving only dust and groups of drivers in their path. The two men in black were enjoying their flight to the atmosphere. The man that was driving, however,  grew a huge smile on his face as he can hear the sound of the teens screaming in possible awe or terror. “Tch, newbies.”
Once their vehicle was in the air, it started to slow down its speed and proceeded towards its designated location. The military carrier, that was hidden, thanks to its built-in cloaking device. “Commander Hunter, Sir, we got them. Permission to land?”
“Permission Granted! And hurry! We don’t have that much time.”
“Yes, sir.”
And so, the two men landed their flying vehicle on the runway as it and the entire ship instantly turned visible. The two then proceeded to let the five teenagers out. Fortunately, they made it in one piece, unfortunately, some of them were feeling groggy and kinda sick.
“...I think I’m gonna throw up…” Adrian groaned.
“Yay! We’re alive,” said Lucy. “and on solid ground,” she says as she hugs the pavement.
“Ugh, hey, who turned on the lights…?” Roy yawned as he just woke up from his nap. “Where are we anyway?”
Jeremy and Kayla were the last two to get out of the vehicle. Kayla was regaining her bearings as she took a second to look at the new environment she’s in, and Jeremy cautiously walked towards the edge and noticed that they were no longer in the city anymore. “Uh, guys? You might want to see this,” he says as he looked down at all of the clouds and buildings down below. The others came to see what their schoolmate was talking about, and they were surprised by the massive view.
“That’s a long way down,” said Kayla. “Good thing I'm not afraid of heights.”
“Hate to be the poor sucker that slips and fall to their doom,” Lucy added.
But before anyone else can say anything, the five teens were escorted inside by the two men in black. Once they were inside they took a quick look at their surroundings and were impressed by all of the technological wonders within the place; from massive computers to odd inventions that have never been seen before. Soldiers and workers were scrambling all over the place, while some of them took quick glances at the teenagers and were mumbling things like “That’s them?”, “I didn’t think they were teenagers.”, “Why is one of them a dog? Why not a wolf or something?”. As they continued with their walking, they were soon approached by the commander.
“Commander Hunter, Sir!” The two men saluted.
“At Ease, you two,” said the Commander. “I’ll take it from here,” he says as he motions Jeremy and the others to follow him.
“You’re probably wondering where you are and who I am,” he acknowledged. “Well, allow me to finally answer them for you: My name is Commander Ethan Hunter and you five are in a state-of-the-art military carrier! In other words, it’s a secret base in the sky and the main headquarters of the W.C.O.”
“And what exactly is the ‘W.C.O.’?” asked Jeremy.
“The Wing Command Organization, or, W.C.O. for short,” replied the Commander. “tactical military ops that specialize in dealing with ordinary and unordinary threats. Both in the sky and on the ground. We’re also tasked with keeping Finn Hill and all of its citizens safe. And that’s where you five come in.”
“Wait, wait, wait,” said Roy. “Why us? We’re just teenagers. We don’t know anything about being part of the military. Heck, I’m barely passing history.”
The Commander stopped in his tracks and was in complete silence. He stayed quiet for a few more seconds until he cleared his throat, and gave the five teenagers a stern but serious stare. “Tell me,” he started. “Have any of you five...ever heard of the Power Rangers?”
Jeremy, Roy, Adrian, Kayla, and Lucy, were completely thrown off by the commander’s question. However, they were familiar with the legendary team of heroes. Especially Adrian, whose tail was wagging like crazy. “Seriously!? Who hasn’t!? I’ve always wanted to be one since I was a pup! And, and-ahem-I mean, of course, they’re pretty well-known heroes.” he says as he grabs on to his tail and attempts to hide his embarrassing blush.
“You’re such a nerd dude.” Roy chuckled.
“I don’t know,” said Lucy. “I think it’s cute that he’s a fan.”
“Good, so you’ve heard of them…” nodded the commander. “I need to show you all something,” he says as he directs them into a room with a large square table, a silver briefcase, a monitor, and an anxious Professor Foxworth.
“Yo, who’s the fox dude?” asked Roy.
“Roy…” Adrian elbowed Roy’s arm.
“Show some respect,” Kayla scolded.
“It’s quite alright,” Professor Foxworth sighed. “I’m kinda used to it by now,”
Commander Hunter walked towards the male red fox and rested his hand on his shoulder. “I would like you all to meet Professor Jonathon .H. Foxworth, the leading scientist here at the W.C.O.”
All five teenagers said their greetings to the male vulpine before taking a seat at the table. Once everyone sat down, both, Commander Hunter and Professor Foxworth stood at the front before proceeding with the briefing.
“We have a Code Red Emergency! Earlier today, we got a video message from an individual, that calls himself, Dark Sparrow.” said the Commander as he replayed the footage from earlier. “He’s an intergalactic space pirate whose sole purpose is to conquer and enslave other planets. Unfortunately, Planet Earth is his next target.”
“It gets worse from there,” said the Professor. “His forces have leveled several city blocks, destroyed multiple buildings, and innocent civilians were hurt in the attack. And to add the cherry on top--he has hostages. One of them being the mayor herself…” he says as he displayed images of the hostages.
The five teens watched in horror and anger as they watched their city get destroyed, and innocent people and mammals running for their lives, as they all try to escape the chaos and destruction; Jeremy was clenching a tight fist to display his anger, Lucy was speechless and possibly scared, Kayla was trying to hold back tears as she feared for her own family’s safety, Adrian covered his ears to muffle the sounds of all the people crying and screaming, and Roy was stunned because he recognized one of the hostages. “This isn’t happening...” Roy mumbled.
“What is it Mr. Jones?” asked the Professor.
“I know one of the hostages…” Roy replied. “The cameraman...its my dad!”
To be Continued...
Next time on Power Rangers Wing Commanders!
The Rangers are given their morphers and are soon put to the test when they make an attempt to rescue the kidnapped hostages from the clutches of Rag-Zar, Sheira, and Zerrick. Meanwhile, Dark Sparrow unleashes a horde of Nexors and a monster upon the city! Can our new heroes work as a team and save the day? Or will this be the end of Earth and Finn Hill?
That’s next time! On Power Rangers Wing Commanders!

Mystical Mystery Kids AU
In yet another bout of excellence over on the UF Discord we have created yet another really neat AU, one that I happen to enjoy quite a bit because it has le angst in it ahahaha (plus design wise it has a lot of really awesome potential) So yeah, have a bunch of headcanons we’ve come up with (plus some original ones of my own) under the cut!
So the backstory of this AU actually starts a waaaaaaay long time ago, back in the days of ancient Egypt. So we got our Mystery kids but they’re of course Egyptian but they still like go solve mysteries and hang out and whatever (idk this part is the part I don’t generally find as interesting as the present day of this AU)
So one day the kids are wandering around or whatever and they discover the truth that Bill (who, as we know from... some extra canon stuff idk) basically had the ancient Egyptians build the pyramids as monuments to him or whatever) is actually a geometric bastard who wants the world for himself
So the kids are all set to expose the truth to everyone but then Bill himself shows up and decides to silence the kids by cursing them, turning them each into a different kind of mythological monster
So in this we have Gem-corrupted (but still sorta sentient) rose monster Steven, dragon Dipper, Pegasus Mabel, and roc Connie
So yeah these kids are pretty much screwed because there’s no way to undo the curse (cause Bill is an ass) and they kinda can’t really hang about in human society anymore so they all just flee and go off on their own and stick together as they wander around, eternally stuck in their monstrous forms (they basically have unlimited life spans, but they can be killed (which will come into play later on)
And eventually these kids find their way to Gravity Falls, which is where all of the weird things usually tend to congregate, and that’s where they settle down
Now of course the Gems were around back in the day so they’re completely distraught about what happened to the kids, but Garnet I guess, has a vision that they’ll all eventually meet again someday in this place called Gravity Falls, so they decide to move there and play the waiting game, hoping that they can see Steven again someday
Now flash forward to the modernish era and the Mystery Kids get... uh... offed; basically they all die, probably in roughly the same way
BUT because the curse thing Bill put on them is sorta like this eternal thing, upon their deaths, the kids actually reincarnate into the modern Mystery Kids we all know and love
Now at first, these kids are all born human and normal and such, but as they grow up they gradually start to transform into the monsters they used to be (and they gradually start gaining memories of their past lives too)
So let’s break it down into how it goes for each one of the kids (and I’m kinda gonna be doing some copy pasting from Discord here so bear with me)
So Steven; he’s not part Gem anymore, at least not apparently; but the Gems happen to find him with no parents around and they realize he’s basically identical to their old Steven they lost centuries ago, so of course they decide to take him in and basically raise him
However, he gradually turns back into that corrupted rose monster over the years and to quote @7-galaxys here (cause she came up with some really good ideas for this AU): “ OK so for Steven, there ain't no flower shops in Gravity Falls or Beach City, but the CG often portal to different places and whenever Steven comes along and finds Roses, he keeps them. He's got an uncanny ability to care for roses, so even starts his own rose garden. (Yet, as soon as the gems gave him seeds for other flowers, Steven couldn't care for them nearly as well and it always frustrates him) He's always got this distinct smell of roses about him, and really likes the color pink. He's usually calm, but small things will set him off (like when he's scared or hurt). Lots of people noticed he acts in an almost animal way, but everyone just chalked it up to HIS weird and mysterious past (showed up outta nowhere with 3 aliens- definitely not normal) that's also a bit pinkish. At one point, en STEVEN'S 12 or something, he noticed that some rose petals stuck to his skin. When he tried pulling them off, they refused to budge. When they finally did come off, he felt paint and was bleeding...thankfully they fell off on their own, but Steven started wearing sweaters after that to hide his new, strange skin. If they're on his hair though, he'll leave am cause he like an there and no one really questions it. Weird kid=weird habits”
So yeah, like I said, gradual transformations over the course of several years that even the kids themselves are sorta baffled by
Now for Connie, her and her family have always lived in Gravity Falls; however as she started to turn back into a roc (which is like this huge eagle-like bird if you don’t know), her parents kinda keep her inside a lot because they don’t want people to freak out over their half-bird daughter
And, quoting Galaxies again:  “Connie was always ridiculously light, even when she was born; her parents worried she wasn't the right weight, but everyone was surprised when she survived to infancy. Her X-rays how ARE always really weird (Connie was born with kinda hollow bones) but NO one figured out why. She was always so interested with birds, and I guess in this AU, is a needs glasses because her pre-roc vision and her now human vision were colliding a lot, which  made it difficult to see. When she was about 8, she began to grow feathers, and thats when her parents didn't let her go outside anymore. Connie's nose began to grow kinda weird, and sometimes her skin kinda had scales like how talons did? It was weird. One time, on a school field trip before her shut in, she was visiting the aviary habitat where birds fly around, yeah? And when she whistled (only she knew how to whistle out of the whole grade- she claimed no one taught her tho) all the birds flocked to her area, or at least most of them. One of them perched on her head and she stayed in the habitat the whole day.”
Now for the twins, they’re still born in California and again, seems like they’re all right and normal at first, but gradually Dipper starts turning back into a dragon (a tiny lil one) and Mabel turns back into a Pegasus
Galaxies, once more, weighs in: “Dipper's skin occasionally gets really tough and one time, he touched the stove while there was FIRE and it was hot AF but there wasn't a burn, Mabel always had a strong connection with horses and loved the idea of pegasai (But would sometimes point out that they looked....wrong somehow and she could never say how) and the twins always felt like they couldn't always communicate with people and DIPPER FUCKING LOVES REPTILES and Mabel always had this crazy endurance and a ridiculously fast metabolism and Dipper gets fangs and will sometimes growl”
So yeah of course the Pines parents don’t really know how to handle their kids’ alarming transformations, so they kinda panic and send them up to live with Stan in Gravity Falls (when they’re like, idk maybe 8 or 9) because apparently all sorts of weird shit happens up there, so they’ll probably be safe there, right?
So Stan takes them in and he finds their transformations to be pretty weird yea, but he’s supportive and comforting because well, Stan is the best
So the kids meet each other about the same time they do in UF and they all quickly bond because by that point they’re just about all fully monsters (I’d say the transformation would basically be complete around the time their past lives got cursed, which would be when they were 12/13 whatever)
So yeah through meeting each other that awakens even more past live memories and the kids eventually remember their former bond and that only brings them even closer together (the Gems are baffled but delighted by the way to see the kids again, even if they are still monsters)
Also, being a dragon Dipper FUCKING HORDES A LOT OF RANDOM STUFF and it drives Mabel crazy (Stan and Amethyst use Dipper as a regular advantage on their revenge trips tho cause he’s got such an apparent knack for stealing lol)
As for more extemporaneous stuff, when Dipper, Mabel, and Connie all grow their wings it HURTS like hell for all of them, poor kiddos (a lot of this transformation stuff would likely hurt them cause ya know, they spend years turning from humans into literal monsters)
Steven sometimes sheds his petals and they’re apparently very rare and highly valued for their healing properties
Steven’s also the only one of the MK who can’t fly but he compensates for that by being able to run very fast and jump very far
Despite being a dragon, like I said, Dipper’s a pretty small one, so he’d be the tiniest of the MK here (with Connie being the biggest cause ya know, giant bird)
Mabel still has a diet that consists of a lot of sugar (cause ya know, horses, sugar cubes lol), Steven’s pretty much an herbivore, while Dipper and Connie are both total carnivores
The kids kinda spend most of their time hanging out in the woods because they know they’ll probably be safe from humans being afraid of them out there (though they do trust Stan and the Gems of course)
Aaaaaaand that’s about all of the main things for this AU but idk its a nifty idea (I’ve already sketched up what dragon Dipper and beast Steven look like so I’ll probably finish those up one of these days and do designs for the girls as well)
Either way, as always, lemme know what ya think and if you got any HCs you’d like to add! Tbh this one is pretty neat (I love slow transformation situations) so I may write something for it in the future, idk its angsty but cute ^_^

Job Application Tips
So as somebody who had to take a class on professionalism, and has been through the job application cycle in my field a couple times I figured I would write down some of the things that I have learned about job applications, professionalism, etc. especially in light of the fact that we are getting jobs in the new age of tech and our parents might not be able to give us accurate advice. So here is a bunch of advice that I wish somebody had given me in high school.
Resumes:
Your resume doesn’t just need former jobs and work experience. You can and should have:
 your education/ degrees
relevant job experience — this can be internships and volunteer positions
relevant organizations and community programs — are you a scout? are you a part of a community outreach group? are you in a band? is there a club in college that’s important to you? These all show skill or personality traits that look attractive in a candidate
relevant course work — this is especially important for students who may not have a lot of job experience. it lets you show that you know what you are doing
relevant projects— yes you can put projects (I didn’t know this until last year) Maybe you did an episode of a podcast, or a short film on how DNA unzips, or maybe you mixed and mastered your friend’s album. These really wouldn’t count as job experience but they can help you with an application. they show skill and dedication to ones work.
relevant skills — Do you speak another language? Do you know a programming language? Are there any softwares that you know how to use? are you good at public speaking and/or teamwork?
Resumes should only be a page long, so format is really important— google drive has a couple of really good layout templates and here is a link to the layout that I use (feel free to use it if you want)
Customize your resume for each job. Different jobs will want different things from you, so you can change up the projects, skills and coursework that you put on each resume (This past year I had visibly different resumes that I used for different positions within the same company)
Make a “Master Resume” with every job and organization, all of your coursework that applies to your field, every big project, and lists of skills. Save it as master resume on you computer, or drive. When you apply for a job, you can make a copy of this and just delete out anything that isn’t relevant. Update this often!
Set up a linkedin profile, it allows you to follow companies, connect with other professionals, quick apply for jobs, and acts like a big online resume. Its like a professional facebook without your aunt’s comments and minion memes.
If you are in a project based field like me (Audio engineering) such as, art, photography, film, journalism, or music set up an online portfolio of your best work. You can use google sites for free. Put that link on your linked in and on the top of your resume (most are sent in digitally now anyways). Update it whenever you do something new. This lets people actually see/hear your work.
DO NOT lie on your resume, they will find out.
Interviews:
Dress nicely for interviews even if they are on Skype or on the phone. (it is always better to be over dressed than under dressed). There is a confidence that comes with wearing a pair of slacks that even extends over the phone.
Always wear pants on a Skype interview, they might ask you to write something on the whiteboard behind you with the express reason of seeing if you bothered to wear pants!
If you are presenting as a woman, wear makeup to an interview. Women who wear makeup are more likely to get a job than those who do not (I know its bad right?)
Style your hair professionally, even if it is just a ponytail or bun. Looking polished is especially important if you have an unnatural hair color. (when I had blue hair my go to was to straighten my hair and pull it into a sleek ponytail).
Prep for your interview the night before.
This means go over the resume and cover letter that you sent in, and any other application materials, and be ready for any questions about that material that may come your way. You will get asked about why you chose your college, and why you want this job, and what your biggest weakness is. Think of good answers that paint you in a good way or show off your priorities, they want to see that you care.
Look up the company on glassdoor, they will often post interview questions.
Interviewers will often ask you practical skills questions (I get asked about microphones and what I should do if they break).
You will get asked about a time you worked on a team, just paint yourself in a positive light and talk about your skills in a team and what you bring to a group (are you a good communicator, a good leader?)
be ready for curve ball questions, weird ones that show your personality more than your skill. Here are a few that I have gotten:
If you won the lottery tomorrow what would you do?
If you were a fruit what kind of fruit would you be and why?
What is a piece of media that influenced your career path?
What is your favorite movie/TV show/Band? Why? (The why is a tricky thing)
You might be given a test of practical skill, a problem to solve, a listening quiz or some sort of visual test, it’s to make sure you can actually do what you have told them. Be ready for these things.
Your interviewer will always end the interview by asking you if you have any questions. You should always ask something, it shows interest. If you don’t have a real question, here are a few cop-outs that work.
what is the work/social environment here like?
What is your favorite part of working here?
What is the typical day of somebody in the position that I’m applying for?
Send thank you notes after interviews!!! I can’t emphasize this enough. It shows that you actually cared, and it leaves a positive image of you in the interviewers mind.
Correspondance :
Have a professional signature with your contact info in your emails.
Letters of inquiry can be really good if a company doesn’t have an online job portal— there is nothing wrong with direct contact, and some times if you are lucky you will get a direct opportunity to interview.
Follow up! If they don’t get back to you in the timeframe that they gave you, write a polite email asking for an update
Some companies will never get back to you (big ones like Universal Studios, and Disney don’t have time for everyone, and they are pretty up front about it) don’t let it discourage you.
Other stuff:
Professionalism is pretty relative depending on where you work and the most obvious example of this is how you dress. Certain jobs (like the one I have now) will let you get away with jeans and a t-shirt, while others require you to wear a suit. Dress the way that your co workers dress.
That being said, if you are unsure of the difference between business casual and business professional, or just want an idea of how to shop for professional clothes, here is a link to a really good powerpoint about how to dress professionally for work (its like 8 years old so the trends are a little out of style but it is still a solid guide)
Remember to dress practically for your job, this is important especially with shoes, a solid black canvas sneaker can pass for a dress shoe from afar
This is gonna sound bad, but use every connection you have to your advantage. Have somebody you know on the inside put in a good word for you. Ask professors and old coworkers to get you in touch with employers. Take advantage of nepotism (if a family member can help get you a job in your field take advantage of that).
If a job posting asks you to know how to use a software, download the free version and pull an all nighter, I did that with logic and adobe premier.
code academy is a great (free) place to learn some basic coding languages very quickly, and slack exchange has coding practice problems for a bunch of languages — You don’t need a formal class to learn a  programming language.
Job postings are often looking for “Unicorn Candidates” nobody has all of the qualifications, and if they do, that company probably can’t afford them, so apply if you have at least 60% of what they ask for.
In other words don’t be afraid of being under qualified, if worst comes to worst you don’t get the job.
If you have the ability to accept an unpaid job, DO IT. You will get experience in your field, business connections, and even a few fun stories.
unpaid jobs are often only part time too, so you will have the time to pick up a part time position that does pay you.
another note on unpaid jobs-- if a company is not paying you they technically are not allowed to make you clean or get them coffee, that being said that is how almost 100% internships work. Just make sure you are going to get to do some relevant work and that you are going to be learning something-- if you wanted to be a secretary you could go get a paying position doing that.
Don’t get discouraged if you don’t get the jobs you want. I applied for 27 summer jobs, I got interviews for 10, and an offer from 1. Most of the students in my program applied for upwards of 10 jobs, and not all of us got something.
Feel free to add anything else that you think people should know!

Chapter 8: Denial
"I can't believe it...I just can't believe you ran off again. Do you have any idea how worried I was?" she questioned.
"I was with Emma and Gramps, so I was fine," he said, as something occurred to him.
"Actually, I guess I was with both my grandpas. I have two now, you know," he retorted. Regina took a deep breath to keep from exploding in rage at that.
"Henry…" she started to say.
"You can save the lectures on how the book isn't real. That jig is up, even if Emma refuses to believe," he replied.
"My grandparents are awake, Mr. Gold is awake, and I have a dad now," he said.
"David and Mary Margaret are not your grandparents...they are absurdly young for that," she replied, but he only shrugged.
"That's only because of your curse and they didn't age," he shot back, frustrating her further.
"Well...you're grounded for a very long time, so you're not going to be seeing anyone," she warned, but he smirked.
"Except my dad...and I bet he'll let me see my grandparents," he retorted. Regina pursed her lips, but remained silent, as she kept driving.
~*~
Jefferson curiously flipped through the book that Henry had lent to him upon his request, with the promise to return it once they were home, of course.
"This is...amazingly detailed. Did you do this?" Jefferson asked.
"That wasn't me either, dearie. I believe it appeared one day in the fair Mary Margaret's closet. Not even I am privy to how," Gold replied.
"Well, that has to bug the life out of you," Jefferson snorted.
"Normally yes...but the book has served its purpose quite well. Young Henry already knew something was off and the book led him down the right path," Gold said. Emma snorted in annoyance.
"You really like denial, don't you?" Jefferson asked.
"You're asking me to believe in fairy tales," Emma replied.
"No, I'm asking you to believe in history...history of a different world. Are you so arrogant as to think this one is all there is?" he asked.
"No...but other worlds aren't my concern, because I'm in this one," Emma retorted.
"I've been alone in this world...for my whole life and all the sudden, I'm supposed to just accept all this?" she asked.
"You know, you act like you're the only one that's had a rough life," Jefferson argued.
"Well, my supposed parents are a Prince and a Princess. Yeah...that sounds rough," she argued back. He snorted.
"You really need to read your own history," he said, as he handed her the book, with a picture of David in tattered clothes on a small farm. Her brow furrowed and she found herself drawn into the story.
~*~
"She hates us," Snow sniffed, as she rested her head on David's chest. Neal had offered to drive and they were cuddled together in the backseat.
"She doesn't hate us...certainly not you. She's just confused and angry right now," David assured her.
"I...I don't want to intrude into this conversation, but I know Emma pretty well and I guess I'm kind of the reason you didn't get to raise her. For that, I'm sorry. I hate what my father did to all these innocent people, but I know Emma. She loves denial, but she'll come around," he offered. David stared at him for a moment and then nodded.
"Thank you," David replied, as he pressed another kiss to Snow's hair.
"If you're Rumpelstiltskin's son that he lost so many years ago...how are you still as young as you are? You weren't cursed like us," David inquired.
"No…I wasn't, but unfortunately, I ended up in Neverland. It was hard to keep track of time there, but I was probably there for a couple hundred years before I escaped to this land," Neal answered.
"I had nothing...so I stole to get by. I'm sure you know Emma did too...and that's probably not something you like," he said.
"Actually…I know a little bit about stealing to survive," Snow murmured.
"Really? Doesn't sound like your typical Princess story. Guess I'll have to read Henry's book," Neal said fondly.
"We met, because she stole my mother's ring and sold it to some trolls," David said fondly.
"I was trying to get enough gold to escape and get to a land beyond Regina's reach," she reminded him.
"Yeah...but after that day, despite having the gold, you didn't leave," he said. She smiled up at him.
"I guess, deep down, I knew there was something to stay for, though I wasn't about to admit it," she said, as she thought for a moment.
"I guess we know where Emma gets her denial from," she mentioned. He smiled.
"She gets a lot from you," he promised.
"Maybe...but she has your tunnel vision," she teased, getting him to smile. Neal was silent, letting them have their moment. He was happy for Emma that she had found her parents, especially since they seemed like such great people. He just hoped she was ready to be happy for herself soon.
~*~
Tamara stared into the empty apartment and pursed her lips. She had chosen this empty apartment, a couple floors above Neal's, for a drop off and pick up point due to the easy access. But obviously something had gone wrong and the subject had been rescued. Worst of all, Neal told her, with no notice, that he had to go out of town for a while. It was suspicious at best and knew there was likely a connection between the two incidents. She took out her phone and dialed a number.
"Hello?" a man answered.
"We have a problem...she's not here," Tamara reported.
"She escaped?" he asked.
"Or was rescued…" she replied.
"They won't be happy about this...they have been waiting a very long time to get someone from there," the man said vaguely.
"I know...but I think my "fiance" is involved and is with them. That means I might have an in," she replied.
"Getting into the honeypot itself might redeem you then. I hope you can pull it off for your sake," the man said, as he hung up. She clenched her teeth and pocketed her phone.
Magic...she hated it. But she was no longer working for the Home Office. Her new employers had clued her in that the Home Office had no intention of ever destroying magic and that she had simply been a pawn. She had been infuriated and hated that her new employers didn't want to destroy magic either. However, they did want to control it and exploit it, which was better than letting magic run rampant. She got her phone out again and dialed another number, which unfortunately went to voicemail.
"Hey honey...it's me. I got your message and I was hoping that wherever you've gotten off to...maybe I could join you. Call me back. Love you," she said, as she hung up the phone. Now she just had to wait for Neal to call and hopefully give her the directions to the treasure trove that would certainly get her back into the good graces of her employer.
~*~
They arrived home in Storybrooke late that night and they got to the loft a little after Emma did. When they didn't see her downstairs, they assumed she had already gone up to the loft.
"Listen…" David said, as he took her hands in his own.
"Maybe it's best if I go stay up at the cabin for a couple days while all this sinks in for Emma," he suggested.
"But...before I was abducted, she was finally accepting the idea of you moving in," Snow replied.
"I know, my darling...but a lot has changed since then. You two need time to talk and I think it's easier if I'm not here getting in between you," he said.
"No...you're her father. You're my husband!" Snow insisted hotly.
"I know...I know, but that's just to us right now. To everyone else...I'm the scum that cheated on his "wife" and divorced her to be with another woman," he said.
"Don't talk about yourself like that…" she whimpered and he hugged her tightly.
"I'm sorry...I'm sorry this is so hard," he apologized. She sniffed.
"It's not your fault...it's mine. Maybe I shouldn't have gone all in on the book. Maybe I should have played dumb when Neal and Henry insisted it was all real," she murmured.
"No...that might have been worse in the end. When she does accept it...it's better that she knows we tried to be truthful with her from almost the beginning," he said. She nodded, knowing he was probably right.
"This is such a mess...it's not supposed to be this way," she said, as she leaned her head against his shoulder.
"It's going to get better...even if it has to get worse to get there," he assured her. However, even he couldn't realize how stunningly right that statement was at the moment.
They heard Emma come down the stairs and came out from behind the curtain around the bed. But Snow's heart dropped into her stomach when she saw her set her bag down.
"Where...where are you going?" Snow squeaked.
"I think it's better if I move out for a while...and stay at Granny's," Emma told her.
"Emma...if this is about me, then I'm more than willing to stay somewhere else. You don't have to leave," David said.
"It's not...I just can't be here right now," Emma replied.
"Emma please...can we talk?" Snow asked.
"It's late...and I have an early shift. I'm just gonna go," she replied, as she walked out and closed the door. It was at that moment that Snow burst into tears, as it all came crashing down on her. David was there to catch her and hold her, letting her sob almost uncontrollably against his chest.
~*~
Neal stood at the check in desk, as his father stood beside him.
"You know...I have plenty of guest rooms," Gold offered.
"Yeah...that's not happening," Neal replied.
"Bae…" he started to say.
"Neal," Neal corrected in a measured tone.
"I want to talk...you have to know how much I regretted not going with you through that portal," Gold said.
"No…I don't have to know that. You chose power over me and you have to live with that choice. Except then I find out that you didn't and instead wreaked havoc on an entire population to try to fix your mistake," Neal replied. He opened his mouth to speak, but Neal continued.
"Emma grew up alone...because of you. We both did, because of you," Neal said.
"Regina may have cast the curse, but I know the story. August is a liar, but I know what he told me about the curse was true," he continued.
"I had to find you…" Gold insisted.
"Not at the expense of innocent people!" Neal hissed.
"And Regina? You created a monster that has hurt hundreds of people, maybe more, for me!" he said.
"Do you have any idea how that feels? How it feels to know that innocent people died just so you could get here?" he asked.
"I regret that all of that had to happen...but I don't regret that it got me back to you," Gold admitted. Neal scoffed.
"Of course you don't," he deadpanned, as Ruby returned with his room key.
"Um...here you go," she said. He offered a kind smile.
"Thanks," he replied, as he turned back to his father once she left.
"Look, the only reason I'm even here is because of Henry, so if you think it's for you, then you're delusional," Neal said. Gold was about to speak again, but the door opened, revealing Emma with a bag in hand. Her eyes met Neal's and she sighed, as she approached the desk.
"What are you doing?" Neal asked. She looked at him like it was obvious.
"Getting a room," she answered, as Ruby went to get a key.
"Don't you live with Mary Margaret?" he asked.
"Not anymore," Emma replied. He sighed.
"Emma...if you're looking to blame someone for all this then look no further than my father and Regina," he said.
"I'm not blaming anyone and if it wasn't for Henry, I'd blow this town like a popsicle stand," she replied.
"Well, I'd say we have that in common, except I don't believe that about you," he said. She snorted.
"You'd be wrong," she said.
"No…I know you. You have looked for your parents your entire life and now that you had a chance to be under the same roof as them, you do what you do best," he said, staring her dead in the eyes.
"You run," he said, as Ruby returned with her key.
"Go to hell," Emma spat, as she grabbed the key and stormed upstairs. He rolled his eyes and looked at his father.
"Same sentiment to you," he said, as he went to find his room for the evening. Gold was silent for a moment, before he slowly left the Inn for the evening, more distraught than he had been in a very long time...

here are some of my thoughts about tlj. my praise and my complaints are both under the cut
complaints
1. so one thing that really showed in this movie was the fact that no one in the writers room had a real idea where this series of movies was going or what they were going to do with them from tfa. the forcebond thing with rey and kylo was foreshadowed at all in the last movie (because it was an asspull), they didn’t do much to establish why everything was happening or what the stakes were, and i have zero (0) idea what they’re even going to do with the next movie. which, like, it’s kind of nice to be on my toes but i’m also a pretty proficient storyteller and not being able to keep up with a plot isn’t necessarily a good thing. especially for people who tell stories as their primary hobby.
2. there was no build up to the rey and kylo bond. it was just there at one point and it was not... great? it never went full r*ylo, which is why i haven’t abandoned the franchise, but it got far closer than i ever wanted to see.
3. luke’s characterization. i just don’t know what they were going for most of the time with him. it certainly wasn’t the luke skywalker i know. mark did a good job with what he got, but that doesn’t make the writing good on that front
4. yoda????
5. i thought that poe’s character arc in this wasn’t bad, but the choice to have the superior that he refused to listen to be a white woman was pppreetttyyyy skeezy. i think that making the vice admiral a visibly alien character or another poc would have probably made it sit better with me. but poe getting the last opportunity to say the spark that lit the rebellion line, i think, was a good way to kind of... i dunno. fix what they did in rogue one with having jyn steal it from cassian? having the latinx character get to say the cool line last in this one kind of felt like justice for the last movie.
5. there weren’t even hints of a stormtrooper rebellion. if I were a writer working on this trilogy, the stormtrooper rebellion would be KEY to this series of movies but like, other than the first scene with finn and rose and a few comments from phasma or hux... you would have forgotten finn was a stormtrooper at all. at the end they chose to show the rebellion growing with a force sensitive white boy instead and i’m just like.... guys..... GUYYYYSSSSS the more obvious and stronger choice is starring you in the face just take it. just reach out and grab it
6. where were the aliens we know? twi’leks? togrutas? wookies that aren’t chewie? if there were any, i didn’t see them.
7. i thought that they fight with phasma was rushed and wasn’t given the emotional weight that it should have been, but it was still pretty badass looking.
praise
1. i thought that the choice to actually make rey’s parents just scavengers was pretty bold. that exchange with kylo trying to convince rey she doesn’t belong in this story if not by his side, coupled with all of the “nobody” implications from both this film and the last one might be setting up a very compelling theme. assuming that they get their shit together and show that rey matters not for her bloodline or connection to the skywalker legacy but on her own and BONUS if they show how finn was meant to be a nobody too and they built their destinies together.
2. finn didn’t have enough screen time, but john did a great job with everything he got. the same can be said about rose and kelly. they really got me to care about her character and want to see more of her.
3. i thought that they utilized leia far better in this movie. it makes me sad how big of a role they were obviously setting her up for that carrie will never get to play... but i definitely can’t complain about her character in THIS movie.
4. i thought that the movie had some pretty creative elements. they didn’t just copy the plot of a new hope. i thought that the failed attempt by poe, finn and rose to save the ship was an interesting element, kylo turning on snoke was really well done, and that the last scene with the first order trying to drive out the resistance then kylo getting distracted trying to take down luke was totally in character.
5. i think that the choice to bring kylo to the forefront as the supreme leader was pretty great. it sets him up as the real villain, and as long as we don’t do redemption and r*ylo this could end up being a pretty awesome final battle.
6. i liked the sets. i thought that the casino planet was gorgeous and that the last planet wasn’t like any we’d ever seen before in the franchise. my favorite part was probably the dark underside of the island. i thought that the choice to have a dark side hell portal under the pretty jedi island was actually pretty cool. it did a good job of symbolizing the balance the force has to have and the scene with rey down there searching for answers was creative and a cool new way to show the power of the force.
7. i really liked the new aliens. i loved the penguins and the ice foxes in particular. i thought they were good designs that were incorporated well.
8. it wasn’t a rehash of a new hope! the new elements didn’t all work, but they were willing to DO new things. to try new things. i’m not convinced they were all good planned out well enough to make sure that the next movie goes smoothly, but they sure did try new things. i’m pleased with that.
9. the finnrey hug after being apart so long! i’m sorry guys, i’m still sailing the good ship finnrey and i was very, VERY pleased by that hug.  oh yes and finn trying to run away to find rey at the beginning so they could be safe together. that was very VERY in character for him and i loved it with my whole heart

22 questions now meme
I was tagged by two excellent folks for an 11 question ask meme. They both had different Qs and I’m having my normal nightly nervous streak, so here goes TWENTY-TWO ANSWERS
First off, @lunarymagic‘s questions:
1. Autumn or Spring?
I am DEFINITELY a Spring. It’s close to summer, which is the best time of year for me psychologically (sort of). Autumn is cold and I don’t like cold. It also is a super busy time at my job, so fuck that.
2. What sort of dreams do you typically have?
Boring dreams about doing regular tasks, OR dreams about living post-apocalypse, often with zombies. Literally only two flavors to my subconscious.
3. Thirteen hungry dwarves have come uninvited to your house! Quick, what do you prepare for them?
This assumes I answer my door for anyone who isn’t carrying a package for me.
4. Five songs or groups you’ve been into lately?
Depeche Mode. Stan Rogers. Um, that 80s retrowave stuff. Every single song that will be in Thor: Ragnarok. The Decemberists.
5. Would you rather be saved by an Elven prince plagued by a terrible Oath or a Space Alien princess overcome by grief?
I’m gay and want to fuck aliens so the Space Alien princess sounds perfect. Hopefully she’ll cheer up after being subjected to my amazing sense of humor for weeks.
6. This world is falling apart but a portal has opened up. Which fictional world would you like to live in for the rest of your life?
GOOD QUESTION. This is where my love of crapsack worlds comes to bite me. Star Trek, I guess? It’s boring to me but I’m anxious person who enjoys having rights, safety, and hates capitalism.
7. The most hilarious mishap you’ve had or had witnessed?
So the wife and I were driving to work behind a guy in one of those little crotch-rocket motorcycles. We were at a stoplight on a city street in bumper to bumper, but this guy wanted to go FAST. He tried to weave around the car in front of him, except instead he so, so slowly hit the bumper, shattering the back light and spilling his motorcycle flat (couldn’t have been going more than ten miles per hour). We were right behind him so we saw him lying spreadeagled on the pavement, clearly too embarrassed to get up immediately. It was peak physical comedy because a) hilarious fall due to hubris b) no one was hurt.
8. If you’re a fanfic writer: do you remember the first ever fic you ever wrote? Or if you write mainly original fic: first story? Artists: first art piece?
The first ever fic I wrote is still up on AO3 and is the oldest thing up there. It’s not great. My first original fic was some absolutely terrible thing I wrote with a friend when I was 12 or so and thankfully there is no evidence it ever existed.
9. What book or show or movie or game was dearest to your heart as a child?
The Lord of the Rings. I was... a huge Tolkien nerd, then and now. Thankfully my attitudes about women have changed a thousand fold since I was 8, but I do still love LOTR.
10. Any book/movie/show/game rec for your followers?
DISHONORED PLAY DISHONORED BUT HONESTLY SKIP TO DISHONORED 2 BECAUSE THE PLOT MAKES SENSE WITHOUT THE FIRST GAME AND THERE’S FULL INCLUSION OF WOMEN AND POC AND EVEN A SMIDGE OF BI REP PLEASE O B S E S S OVER THESE GAMES WITH ME
And while you’re at it, read the Gentlemen Bastard sequence. THIEVERY!! LOYALTY KINK!!!
/flings pseudo-Italian steampunk over everyone
11. Is the absence of evidence an evidence of absence?
Clever! But no, because absence is evidenced by being an able to document an absence where other things *should* be. Absence of evidence just means you don’t have dick.
And now for @edgeoflight‘s Qs!
1. What place would you visit if money and time were no object?
Taiwan because I want to eat all the food and visit all the museums and enjoy the weather. However, if we want to take time more figuratively, I would go back in time to observe the first groups of humans, so I could slap evolutionary psych up the face with their bullshit he-man theories of innate savagery.
2. What book have you read that influenced you the most?
I have to pull out LOTR again, just because it gave me such a lasting love of worlds in decline and the medieval setting in general. Asimov’s novels also predisposed me towards seeing robots as helpful and good and think that humans are going to get out ok, and technology isn’t something to be afraid of.
Thankfully, when I got to college, I finally started reading some women and getting over my internalized misogyny. I’d say that James Tiptree Jr./Alice Sheldon’s stories will always be the gold standard of what I want my writing to be - painful, insightful, and beautifully written.
3. Tell me about a time when deciding something differently would’ve changed your whole life.
If I’d never played FFXII (an MMORPG) when I was still in high school, I would have never met my ex and endured years of hell that I was too depressed and abused by my family to escape from. :(
4. What do you see as being the next big revolutionary technological innovation?
Search and YouTube algorithms which don’t allow neo-N*zis to recruit.
5. If you reached out with your left hand, what would you touch?
My wife’s butt!!
6. Which is the most important: truth, beauty, freedom, or love?
Love, because people lacking in the first 3 can sometimes still be decent people. If you pick someone with just one of the any other qualities though, y i k e.
I also don’t give a fuck about truth if it’s not compassionate.
7. What’s your relationship with your parents like?
My father’s dead and my mother is evil. I’m actually on better terms with her now that I’ve been living away from her for 12 years so I could a) understand that she gaslit, verbally abused, and emotionally abused me for 18 years, and b) be distant enough that I could pity her for still being stuck with my also evil, also abusive siblings. I’m sorry that my answers to these Qs are all coming out so dark!! Anyway, you can see that all my immediate family has suffered abuse from their parents, my mother included. I wonder how far back the family tree the abuse goes.
8. If I gave you a million in your own currency but told you that you couldn’t spend it on yourself – you had to give it away – what would you do with it? You can divide it up as much as you like, but you can’t keep any of it.
Start a small LGBTQ+ youth shelter and school.
9. Do you believe that patriotism is a good thing or a bad thing?
It’s always bad.
10. How would you define romance?
Hmmm tricky question. I think that romance is culturally defined, but I personally see it as something where people love each in a way that spurs them to positive actions.
11. Imagine you are very old and dying. What do you think you will regret, if anything?
Honestly, everything up until I was 26. And also the job I’ve held from 27-??. I regret living where I am for more than a year. YIKES SO MUCH REGRET

Experimental Chapter 8
Summary: Toffee took both Star and Marco in Storm the Castle. After months of imprisonment and experimentation, they have escaped, but not without scars. Each have a half of the wand infused in their chests, along with the strange ability to turn into beasts, but both are left with little memories besides for their names. Not accepted by human or monster, they must fight for their survival while trying to regain the fragments of the lives they were torn away from.
Link to prologue: :https://marleymaely1234.tumblr.com/post/162144555257/experimental-prologue-a-star-vs-the-forces-of
Marco rested his head in his paws, giving the setting sun a thoughtful glance from their shelter dug out in the mountainside. Even so, his eyes are already drooping. The had traveled hard today, pushing both of them to their limits.
Still, Star was fidgeting beside him, her paws twitching and moving as she tried in vain to relax. He couldn't blame her though, not when his mind was on edge too.
He couldn't pinpoint it, not exactly, but it was a feeling in his chest, something dark and sticky and exactly like the Lizard. Marco could feel it, and apparently, so could Star. The thought of the Lizard being anywhere near Star made his fur bristle and his stomach sink all at once.
He didn't like this though, the new, unwelcome bubbling in his chest. He especially didn't like the fact that it seemed to be growing larger with every breath he took.
All they knew was that somehow, the Lizard was getting closer, and all they could do was keep on running.
"My only question is why haven't we reached them yet." Moon's armor bit into her skin through the fabric of her clothes, adding to her ire. "With your scissors, we should have seen them days ago."
"I'm trying," Heckapoo snaps back, absentmindedly pulling Rhombulus away from the unwitting carnivorous plant he had been about to freeze. "but you know how the wand has spells around it that prevent you from creating a portal near it? Those are still in effect, and since the wand is fused to the kids, I can't find them either."
"Omnitraxus better get here soon." Moon muttered, staring sullenly as Lekmet bleated aggressively at Rhombulus, who looked like a toddler getting scolded by their parent for a crime they were sure to commit again.
Moon slid past the two, Heckapoo following close behind. She knew they would catch up as soon as they realized they were being left behind.
Left behind. She hadn't told River about this, or Star, or Toffee's return, and the guilt was starting to eat away at her. But she couldn't burden him with this, not when he was finally starting to revert to his cheerful self. Sure, he still had the same hesitance and cloud of loss that Moon had, but he was so much better than he had been when Star had first gone missing.
She resolved to tell him after it was over. After she had Star back to her normal self, she would tell River everything. He would probably pout for a few days, but it would be worth it, to save him from her current pain.
Besides this should be over soon enough. All they had to do was wait until Omnitraxus showed up, let him find Star, and then bring her home.
Moon could hardly wait.
Star trailed out in front of Marco, the crunch of forest leaves under her paws as they ran. Well, they were only going at a fast jog really, to save energy. She would much rather be full out sprinting, but Marco had said they shouldn't, in case whatever they were sensing caught up to them.
Whatever it was, whether it was the Lizard or some other enemy, Star was ready to tear it apart already.
She knew what it was like to be trapped, to be tested on, to have her freedom taken. Never again would she go through that, or let Marco go through that again.
But lately, there was a scent in the wind, a feeling in her bones that spelled disaster. Marco felt it too, although to him it was a weight in his chest, one that Star couldn't feel herself.
That didn't matter though, because they both agreed on one thing, they needed to keep moving, to outrun the scent in the wind that trailed behind them.
Neither of them had really gotten any decent sleep for the past couple days, each too nervous to relax completely. Now they had a schedule to decide on who would keep watch each night. It slowed them down, but at least one of them would sleep well every other night.
Last night had been Marco's turn to watch, tonight was hers. So the slower pace was nothing for her to complain about.
She just hoped the scent would fade away.
Moon smiled as Omnitraxus familiar form appeared beside their campfire, the swords in his skull rattling as he spoke.
"I found them, they're resting in a cave by one of the big mountains."
"We'll go after them in the morning?" Heckapoo asked, although it looked like she already knew the answer.
"Just after dawn." Moon replied, giving a small sigh. Even now, the hours from now until their departure seemed almost infinite.
Moon stared out into the dark trees surrounding them, glinting with hungry eyes that didn't dare come closer. She filtered out Rhombulus' excited shout, only noting how the eyes flinched away from the sound. It reminded her of the first and only time she had seen Star. When her own daughter had fled from her touch.
That would change tomorrow though, as soon as they could get Star and bring her home, then things could finally work themselves out.
Toffee sighed, running a hand, the one that still had all four fingers, through his mane of hair.
He still couldn't find a decent army to go against his- well pets didn't seem appropriate, but neither did failures, because they were far from failures. Experiments suited them though, his escaped experiments.
But even if they weren't failures, they sure were a nuisance. A few of his monsters had run into them by chance; it hadn't ended to well for the monsters and now they spread rumors about the power of his experiments.
Now he was left scrounging for any monster that would agree to the job. Especially when they knew the Queen of Mewni was going to be involved.
On the bright side, Moon was finally on the move, with the High Commission in tow. It was almost too perfect.
The glint of scissors caught his eye, the edge of their red handles and diamond centerpiece just visible within the cracked drawer in his makeshift desk. His last one had been burned down with the fire that his experiments had made.
His sneer turned into a small grin at the sight as he let himself indulge in the sweet taste of arrogance.
He was so close, and all the pieces he needed were falling into place.
Marco sniffed the air, his chest stirring uncomfortably. Star slept beside him, taking a small nap after her night spent on watch.
The sky was a dull grey, it's normal blue hidden by the tumultuous rumbling of the dark clouds. Not even the rising sun was visible through the veil. Marco could smell the upcoming storm, but even under that, he could still sense a trace of something more sinister, more intense. He could feel his lips curl upward as his claws dug into the ground.
He knew Star was ready to fight, but he was ready to flee more than anything. He was sick of fighting, sick of killing. His time in the pit had given him that.
The only time he could even remember fighting someone for any other reason than protecting Star had been when the strange human had stumbled too close for comfort. That human had reeked of magic, strong magic at that. They had feared it was connected to the Lizard, so Marco had volunteered to go first, try and drive the strange human away before it could take them by surprise.
The clouds rumbled again, and Marco flinched at the sudden noise. Hunching his shoulders, he resolved to wake Star up soon, no matter how much he would rather do the opposite.
He didn't know how long it had been when something else shifted beside him, a surge of magic washing over him as the world seemed to be torn open before his eyes.
He jumped back to stand over Star, a paw nudging her side to rouse her.
"What is it?" Star asked groggily, but the drowsiness vanished as soon as she saw the tear in front of her.
A blade of sorts cut through the center of the tear, which was outlined in orange and red.
Star was on her paws and growling by the time the first foot entered through the tear.
"We should go, we might be able to outrun them." Marco huffs, his tail lashing behind him.
"With a power like that? They'd find us in no time. Let's just beat them here." Star snarled, although she did leap down to a nearby clearing, Marco following suit.
They were pressed side by side when the whole entourage had emerged from the tear, or at least, the tear that had closed behind the strange beings.
Marco's eyes found their way to a familiar figure of a human exuding strange, powerful magic, and his growl grew deeper. He didn't recognize the variety of beings standing or floating around her though, and the thought of not knowing an enemy that outnumbered him was unsettling.
Star seemed to echo his thoughts, lowering herself closer to the ground as her stone began to glow.
"Star, Marco, we just want to bring you back home." The strange human stepped forward, her armor matching the dark clouds behind her. "Just let us help you."
"Just leave us alone." Star snapped back, but Marco noticed the way her breath hitched, how her paws moved just slightly forward at the sound of the human's voice. "Or else we won't have a choice."
"That sounded like a 'no' to me." One of the human's companions said, the bright colors adorning both her clothing and features outlining her against the sky.
"Can we freeze them now?" The crystal being asked, his hand moving like they had minds of their own. The goat rumbled something unintelligible, while the floating skull remained silent.
"They can't understand us like this." Marco reminded Star, watching her closely as she took a step forward, then another. By the time he realized what she was planning, he was too far away to stop her from shifting.
Star looked so small, glaring up at the group of beings. The wind picked up, making her tattered dress swirl around her thin form.
"Leave us alone!" Even her voice sounded small, as hoarse and unused as it was. Marco moved to curl his form around hers, his eyes giving a silent threat. "Or else we won't have any choice but to fight you!"
Marco noted with a quiet satisfaction, the shock that had come across the entire group's faces. Now if they would just leave without argument.
"Star," The strange human stepped forward once more, and Marco tensed. "you don't have to keep fighting to survive. Just come back home, we can help you; along with Marco of course."
"Home?" Star whispered looking down at her clenched hands. Marco drew himself tighter around her, growling, "We can't trust them, what if they're just working for the Lizard? And even if they're not, there has to be a reason for them to come for us."
"But she said home," Star turned to him, her eyes pleading. "what if that's where my family is?"
"But what if it's not?"
Star paused at that, and Marco poured all his attention into monitoring her shaken breaths, heavy as she gasped for air. He pressed his nose against her stomach to try and give her some comfort.
The strange human opened her mouth to say something else, but was distracted by the line that drew itself in the air across from her.
Marco felt his hair stand on end as another wave of magic washed over him. Star growled beside him, her freshly shifted fur bristling.
This tear was pink, but the bright, happy color only furthered the sick feeling in Marco's gut.
The clouds rumbled as a familiar hand shot through the tear, followed by the arm, clad in a black suit.
Marco froze as the figure stepped out completely, but Star let out a feral snarl. Her fury was infectious, seeping through his skin and into his blood, which began to simmer with a rage of its own after Star announced hers.
It was him. It was the Lizard. He was here. He had found them. He had found them. How did he find them? Why now of all times?
How could they escape?
Marco knew they shouldn't stay; shouldn't try and fight a battle with two fronts. He needed to get Star out of here before things escalated too far. Even with his own anger, there was no denying the fear that shot through his veins, the feeling of wrongness as old memories resurfaced.
"Hello Queen, High Commission, Star, Marco." The Lizard gave each a small nod as he listed them, his face impassive, but his eyes shining with the light of triumph, of anger, of something that Marco couldn't quite place. Whichever it was, Marco didn't like it one bit, even more so when the hint of claws made its way through the tear.
All the sides stood still, each awaiting the other's move as monsters began to trickle out behind the Lizard. There were only a couple, but all of them were covered in scars of sorts, proof of experience and skill.
The Lizard smiled, his eyes flicking over to Star and Marco before landing on the strange human, 'Queen' he had called her. "Should we begin?"

It’s D&D and i’m bad at it and talk too much HEYOOOO
So Mercy is fucking dead forever.
Which I mean, he was an excellent character and the player i thought hated him actually enjoyed our character dynamic so it’s bittersweet, but god he was bad at things. Also, he’d officially died-died three times, the 13-year-old goliath that served as the party lil brother and the little purple kobald everyone loved that was the goliath’s best friend were dead-dead too, Mercy had found his mom in the afterlife after agonizing over her the whole year and a half he inhabited Prince Valafar’s body, and he was (as I have been) agonizingly cognizant that he was more of a hindrance than a help when it came to achieving party goals, so he didn’t really have a reason to come back (although he would have come back as an aarakocra and finally been able to fly again and that would have been cool but whatever I did this).
SO
I’ve started playing a Madness domain cleric named Ban (pronounced “Bahn”).
Backstory: Ban’s parents were a changeling trouper (who was open about their status as a changeling and used their talents for acting) and a changeling living in town disguised as an elderly elven weaver. The weaver excitedly met with the trouper in secret the night the troupe arrived, having not knowingly met another changeling in years, and the two had a short, secret romantic foray during the troupe's week-long stay in town before they parted ways.          The weaver ended up having Ban a little while later and kept them a secret until Ban was old enough to be taught how to shapeshift, whereupon Ban was taught how to look like an albino human child so as to be easily discernible from the other children in town, as well as to create a simple excuse as to why an elderly elven woman suddenly had a child (”I found him sleeping in an alley. His mother must have abandoned him due to his condition, poor thing.”).         The early years of Ban’s life were warm and happy. Ban was clever and quickly taught themself how to read, spending a lot of their time with their nose in a book when they weren’t out playing with the other children. Their parent taught them how to subtly age, about the art of acting, and about the cultures of the other races. They also taught Ban how to weave and sew, and they took great pains and pride in teaching Ban how to transform into the elderly elven weaver themself, a persona named Shi (short for Shilaena Nivarian) that had been passed down through the family for generations.         Unfortunately, it couldn’t last. Ban’s parent was very old, and they died in their sleep one night when Ban was about 8 years old, reverting back to their default form. Ban took their trade tools and as much of the most expensive wares as they could carry and ran north to the capital, as they’d been instructed to do if their parent ever died.         They lived on the streets in the capital of their country for almost 6 years, learning through practice how to quickly learn enough about other people to convincingly portray them, as well as how to sneak and steal. When they were around 14 years old they finally sold the last of the wares they’d taken with them from home (though they kept a small square of thread-of-gold cloth to remember their parent by), so they moved farther north, using the money they got from that final sale to rent a kiosk in the marketplace of the first big city they entered and play the part of Shi for the first time in years. When they made enough money to feed themself between cities while still having enough left over to rent a shopspace, they moved on, and they slowly traveled northward with that routine for about 2 years.         When Ban was 16, they were living in a city that claimed to guard the third of the Seven Seals, a group of massive monsters who, through magic runes kept in a tower built in the very spot where all the planes converge, were kept alive but controlled to seal away a powerful blood mage who threatened the entire world (it’s all very complicated and dramatic). The city had an annual tradition of selecting a child, usually an orphan, and throwing them into the cave where the Third Seal, Everbleed the Webbed, resides, to appease the beast and keep it in its prison.         Guess who got picked as sacrifice because they were young and new in town?         So Ban was caught, blindfolded, knocked unconscious, and thrown into the cave the spider-thing lived in. Whilst in the cave, they had a dream wherein a voice told them they weren’t going to die there. When they awoke, there was a gem embedded in the flesh of their throat, and the Seal was chewing on their shoulder. After slashing the beast in the face with a blade made of blood (i won’t apologize, it’s a rad weapon and is going to make me very useful as a tank) and getting out of its grasp, Ban ran through the cave, fumbling through webs covered in acid, pursued by Everbleed and other creatures that lived in the spider’s cave, their head full of the sound of powerful winds. Winds that screamed. Winds that never ceased. Winds that threatened to drive Ban mad.         Winds that succeeded.
Turns out, during Mercy’s character arc, we ended up killing the First Seal trying to get Prince Valafar’s girlfriend out of the dungeon, which initiated the decay of the other seals, so our party has been given the task of killing all of the rest of the monsters before they can start to run rampant again. Ban was called upon by the elderly archdruid Moody Blue, a PC from the first campaign and one of the founders of the Allegiance of the Nine, to give the party information about Everbleed so they can kill it and save the Warforged wizard’s creator, another first campaign PC (he’s a tortle gunslinger-turned-wizard who steals people’s bodies to stay alive like an asshole lol) who’s stuck in Everbleed’s rune seal. Apparently, he true-iced and then Sequestered himself on it after being mortally wounded by one of this campaign’s BBEGs, and he can’t get out to be healed until the seal breaks.
All that aside, lemme tell ya how I’m still real bad at D&D.
Ban and Rush (a really cute otterfolk paladin from Moody’s order of the Nine) joined the party after Moody sent out four letters asking for help. We were supposed to go fight Everbleed that session, but Moody let slip that there were rumors of weird goings-on in other parts of the continent, and Tome and Aliara (the Warforged transmutation wizard and the half-elf beastmaster ranger, respectively) were not terribly eager to go fight the spider without a few more allies in light of what they’d just gone through, so, despite Moody warning us that it might not go well, we set out to deal with the other issues in the realms and hopefully accumulate forces in the process.
We started with a town that claimed a bunch of portals were popping up everywhere with horrible monstrosities coming out of them. When we arrived, about four hours from sundown, the outer fringes of the town were on fire and the townsfolk were running about, boarding up their windows and locking themselves indoors. We managed to bully the town innkeeper into letting us inside his tavern, and after he tried to aggressively swindle us and failed, he told us about the whispy black ghosts and the lanky, bony, long-fingered abominations with glowing red eyes that were coming out of the portals and killing everyone.  We ended up finding such a portal in an alleyway across the street from the tavern, and we fought and killed 4 wraiths there, though not before they reduced our paladin’s hp maximum to 43 (that’s important for later). After we killed the wraiths, while I was trying to get up the nerve to have my literally crazy cleriboy stick their head into the portal to see what was up....the paladin stuck his head in the portal to see what was up. Inside the portal was a room made of smooth stone and tile with a giant purple eyeball chained inside of it and three of those white bony motherfuckers surrounding it. After alerting the bony bitches to his presence (he literally said “gross” out loud he was so stupid what a good boy), the paladin popped his head back out and told us what he’d seen. While the rest of the party was standing IN THE ALLEY trying to decide if they were going to run or stay and fight, Ban stuck their head in and saw the boneclaws were making their way to the portal already. Ban told them so just as the innkeep yelled at us to get inside, where he insulted us some more and started freaking out.  While the otter was trying to sleep to get his HP back, the boneclaws broke in and interrupted his rest. They attacked and we started to fight them, and we were doing pretty well after Tome turned the big one into a sheep. Unfortunately, just as the sheep ran outside of the tavern, Tome’s player forgot about the sheep (tbh all of us except the DM did) and had Tome cast Haste on himself, and the big one came back with a vengeance. I tried to get a Turn Undead off on it and failed despite the fact that the damn thing didn’t have advantage on its Wisdom save because of one of my domain features, and it ended up murdering the otter paladin before I could heal the damage he’d taken from the other boneclaws. We managed to kill it by remembering that oh, yes, of course, we intended to Polymorph the innkeep into something not a little bitch, and turned him into a giant ape to help us fight. We managed to kill the boneclaw priest pretty quickly after that, and the session ended there.
“But Winter,” you might exclaim, “you’re playing a cleric! Why didn’t you just use Turn Undead on the wraiths in the alley and prevent this whole disaster instead of waiting until the boneclaws attacked?” Well, you see, the thing is, I’m a fucking idiot and have also never played a cleric in a campaign with undead in it. Mostly though I’m an idiot.
I will say that I offered to fix it since it’s my fault the otter died (Gentle Repose is useful and I just need one more level to be able to cast Raise Dead), but the DM and the player have already moved on and made a different character.
Oh, also Ban’s god is Ghaunadaur, but they didn’t know that until after the boneclaw fight. Tome had done an Arcana check in the alley when Ban and Rush described what they saw in the portal and had told us all that what we described sounded a lot like a shrine of Ghaunadaur, also known as The Elder Eye. After the boneclaw fight, Ban had heard the voice that talked to them sometimes say, “You will make that up to me, child,” and had put two and two together and now has to keep yet another secret from their new buddies.
I love D&D
