More adventures in manuscript hunting

So I've got two depictions of Philippa of Hainault here from different editions of Froissart's Chronicles. They show the badass moment I was unaware of when she rallied the troops on horseback before the Battle of Neville's Cross against the Scots.

The first one is very pretty and detailed, but clearly way out of date (the artist of this edition puts 15th century Burgundian fashion on everybody.) The second one is simpler, but may have been produced closer to Philippa's lifetime (none of these have a date, other than some time between 1350 and 1450). Also, she's kinda warlike and fired up, even riding astride instead of sidesaddle.

So the question is:

#e #i'm sorry for this but i never make posts with essays in the tags so bear with me for once #every time i find a new Thing it eats me alive until i can forget about it #after i finished earthbound i cried for 2 days straight. u think i am exaggerating but i am not... it was scary. i could not stop bawling #when i read the locked tomb series i was literally emotionally destroyed for a whole ass month #while i had the books out from the library i just kept reading them. and rereading them. and rereading them #and i read really fast so i probably read each book like 5 times at least. and the emotional parts i read over dozens of times #anyway this time my Thing is lore olympus. i read all of lore olympus in two days and now i don't know what to do with myself #(ok to be fair i was caught up in like 2021 but it's been a while so i had to start from the beginning again)#side note: i can't wait for alecto to come out so i can be completely destroyed for the rest of my life

#personal posts #straight back to the living group #no more psych ward blogging #two of my roommates helped me move #and shared the food they cooked with me #a third roommate gave me chocolate as a welcome present #one of the other patients cried whenI left #and I'm gonna meet with my psych ward crew tomorrow (because imma do alcohol tests at the clinic saturday and sunday #to make sure I stay sober)#it truly is bewildering how social I have become #like during the last couple of days I spent lots of time with said other patient and she said to me 'you're such a good person #whever we go we meet people who are happy to see you'#and it made me realize it's true lmao #another patient gave me a present for listening to her problems and giving her space to cry #wild #anyway #freeeeeeeeeedom #now I've gotta manage to stay sober until I go to the rehab clinic #addiction tag

it isn’t the end of the semester but i’m already having my end of the semester breakdown oh my GOD I am going to have a heart attack. sprite save me

#nothing is done!! not my applications not my interviews etc #I am running out of time to graduate in June and I could just graduate in august but then I have to admit to my family that I fucked up bad #it takes 3-6 weeks to get IRB approval I need to step on it #it’ll take at least 4 for my paid leave forms for work to go through and I don’t know if it’ll get approved #and if it does when do my benefits start #I feel like an idiot where those forms are concerned because it needs an occupation code and I don’t know if it’s specific #or if I can just select the one that best matches my job description and I can’t find that info anywhere #my body is literally shutting down I have two golf ball sized tumors and I can’t get out of bed but I can’t sleep #my car is kaputt and I have to call several different shops to get it seen because the one I took it to couldn’t fix it #and is any of it worth it!! is any of it!!#I cried for like three hours today bc I tried to talk to my mom about it and. well. she was very much a mom about it and not helpful #like yeah! obviously I want to graduate in June! but my research isn’t even approved because I haven’t been able to get myself #to complete the application for the last six months! when i really needed a day off for mental health (two weeks ago) (after a family members funeral) i COULDNT take off. now that things have calmed down (at home and at work) my boss was like omg do you still need a day off
