You felt frozen in time. It was as though the heat of the moment had paused everything in the universe except for the two of you.

Zhongli couldnt help but to chuckle at just how flustered you were as his gloved hand ran down to the small of your back to pull your body flush against his, causing you to yelp in surprise. He tenderly stroked your long, silky-soft ear between his thumb and index finger as he gazed down into your blown out pupils, "You can breathe, (y/n), there is no need to be so shy. Must i point out the obvious?" he taunted, slowly lowering his face so his lips were only a breath away from yours. You took a deep breath, daringly placing your clawed hands against his chest- it was warmer than you expected, inviting, even.

"I-I dont know what you mean, but..." you trailed off, the tip of your lengthy tail wagging as it snaked around his thigh and gently squeezed, egging him on, "Id like to be informed, i-if you dont mind." A gentle smile crossed your lips and your half-hooded gaze met his.

Your brave attempts at seduction were more than successful, earning yourself a light kiss on the lips as his hand left your ear and lifted your chin to meet his. He was much taller than you, so he still had to bend down, but he didnt mind at all- in fact, he preferred it. Zhongli always found it amusing how you looked up to him with those big doe eyes, your cheeks always tinted a light pink and your voice nothing more than a sheepish peep. The way you flinched at even the most gentle of touches- a light pat on the shoulder, a kind nudge, even when he offered to fix the messy fur on your ears when youd arrive late due to sleeping in (which was a common occurance. Being a nocturnal species of dragon, you often found yourself accidentally staying up far too late into the night)- it never ceased to remind him of just how adorable you truly were. Though he would find it difficult to admit, every once in a while Zhongli would fantasize about making you his. The mental image of your pretty little face making lewd expressions, your soft voice panting his name, your body craving his as much as he craved yours- it only made him all the more protective and possessive of you.

You eagerly kissed Zhongli back as though you were starved of physical affection. Zhongli lifted an unsatisfied brow as he pushed his thumb against your forked tongue and lifted your chin up for a better view of your adorably needy expression, "Hmmm... since its in a fictionalized forest in tuscaloosa, where marble hornets was filmed, i decided to move the abanonded hospital they visited up north of the tuscaloosa lake. she roams there.

SOOOOO nurse ann is just... a demon. slenders forest is sort of like limbo for a lot of the cryptids and kinda puts them in like.. a long daze and loops unless they're consistently leaving or being grounded by humans.

i dont EXACTLY know why/how she's in that specfic hospital, especially since i dont believe she has an official origin? maybe when the hospital shut down, she was let go and wasn't transferred to work in a new hospital, so she lost her shit and preformed some crazy rituals that ended up making her an undead nurse ? now she's forever roaming the hospital. or maybe she was killing patients when she was a human and kept doing weird demon shit with their bodies and the operator/zalgo fed off of her bad vibes. for some reason i was sitting outside this morning and enjoying some shockingly not boiling hot weather and reflecting on a post i had made like ... 12 years ago on here that "blew up" (like 60k notes on early days tumblr) and thinking like. wow i sure do know a lot more about myself now that makes all that make sense but

the post was someone saying like. hey how can you call yourself an atheist and support gay people because gay people go against the concept of evolution. and my reply was like. actually there are gay members of like every social species weve studied it in and i had a bunch of facts laid out about all the different very gay animals of this world (like giraffes having very largely m/m sex)

but now, like 12 years later, i am thinking about human evolution and queer identity and thought it would be fun to talk about. i am by far not an expert and so if there are experts who want to correct me or talk more in depth about this Please jump in but

... why did humans evolve to be queer anyway?

very short answer: because its helpful to raising kids

longer answer: though its debated whether humans are a prosocial or eusocial species, it is agreed upon that early humans cooperatively raised young, including those that they did not personally sire or give birth to, and that we lived in multi-generation communities where younger members would help raise older members offspring, and vice versa

(note: im using the terms amab and afab for human populations potentially pre concepts of gender but work with me here, i dont want to keep repeating genitalia or genomes when those arent always a helpful 1 to 1 either. sex is a spectrum gender is made up etc support intersex rights)

we know that due to fraternal birth order effect (npr link), youre 33% more likely to be gay with each older amab sibling that you have (not 33% total, but 33% more, so like 2% to 2.6 to 3.5 etc). this is true of both amab and afab people with older amab siblings. we also know that a birthing parent having more of a specific antibody makes their children more likely to be gay (and that antibody is not exclusive to but is highly tied to giving birth to amab children)

in addition, evolutionarily speaking, its just as advantageous for your siblings children to do well than it is for yours to. its incredibly rare you would happen to have a very helpful mutation that your siblings dont have. which means that your siblings kids would be about 25% amab grandparent, 25% afab grandparent, and 50% a parent who is unrelated to you. this is exactly the same for your own children

okay, so what does that mean?

to put it simply, it means that having older siblings, specifically older siblings who are more easily able to sire more children, makes you more likely to end up in a same-sex couple, which means you are two adults with no children who are now around to help raise children you are equally invested in the success of than if they were your own

the more older youth or adults you have around to help who are not also using up a bunch of resources by being pregnant and having non-helping-age children, the better off that community's children will be. more people to hunt and gather and create resources like tools, which means everyone prospers, especially the kids

or, to frame it from the opposite view: having gay siblings means your children are more likely to survive and thrive

(kind of funny how conservatives are like gay people shouldnt be around children when the entire point of our evolutionary development was that we were great to have around if you had kids but like. alas)

so, thats the very basic core of it. but you can apply this concept to a lot of queer identities. aroace? working adult around to help who is not bringing in an unrelated partner or having kids. trans? you now either have an m/f couple who can fill two different social niches without having kids, or you have a gay couple who is able to do more varied physical tasks whether or not they do have kids. bi people may have kids or may not, or their children may be more spread out if they have partners of different sexes over time

not to mention you kind of have some built in, ready to go parents in the case that another community member dies, and there are now orphans that need raising. its a lot harder for someone whos already a parent to take on more children, as opposed to an adult couple who doesnt have any

so yeah :) were queer because we were helpful to have in communities and allowed everyone, but especially youth, to prosper and thrive

tl;dr: queer people were an evolutionary advantage to have in an early community because we were helping-age members who were able to cooperatively raise young and take on orphans without using up resources on birthing and raising our own young

Probably gonna have to tell him to not give your pet too many treats, cause he might overdo it a tiny bit while trying to make him their favorite. If your pet is able to/likes to play he might bring them a toy like.. Every two or so weeks? Whenever he sees a cute toy for their species he'll just get one for your pet.

If it's a dog, he doesn't have much experience with them due to various reasons, but he doesn't dislike them or anything (even if he does prefer kitties..) You might not want a big one on his lap or anything though since he's not neccesarily the biggest guy, so be careful with that.

Asks you if it sheds before he even enters the house. He needs to know cause nine times out of ten he just finished a show and he does not want pet hair all over his show clothes. If it is then he'll probably end up going home to change to avoid any issues regarding that.

Cats love Lyney 99% of the time, can tame even the craziest of crazies into lapcats. Of course, this is 99%, not 100.. The 1% wants him dead. Birds also tend to like him since he's used to working with doves and whatnot, used to dealing with them. Asks you if he can have it on his finger/arm. Also good with rabbits due to him also working with them, might scare it like once with a magic trick though since he might forget yours isn't really used to that.?? Feels bad afterwards though and gives it food as an apology so I suppose it's alright.

Lyney is willing to petsit and is good at it. If your pet destroys anything you own while your gone he might just.. Replace it and hope you don't notice. Would be a bit scared that you might get angry at him also for letting it do that or something. In general would describe him as a pretty solid person to keep around your pet with points deducted due to the issue of him spoiling the thing too much, 8/10.

Lynette is liked by cats, and they tend to gravitate towards her. So, if you have a cat, hurray! If you have a dog, however...

Dogs don't really like her, with the range going from them barking at her constantly to just ignoring her, depending entirely on the dog's personality. Don't worry, though; it won't really offend her. She's quite used to it, and besides, she isn't a dog fan anyway. She would probably ask you to put the dog up if it won't leave her alone, though.

A lot like Lyney, she is also good with birds and rabbits. But do keep in mind, just because she's good with them, doesn't mean they're good with her. Birds, unless having been subject to Lynette for long enough, tend to fly away from her. Not all of them, just most of them.

Rodents and the like also run from her. And amphibians. And fish. Her cat-like features and smell seem to frighten any animals that would qualify as prey to a cat. But again, she doesn't really mind; she expected this sort of reaction anyway.

She doesn't try to make them like her or anything, wouldn't even mind if they hated her. Still, that doesn't mean she would turn the animal down if it does happen to enjoy her presence; she'd not-so-secretly like it if they did. Lynette might even come to your house just to chill out with the pet (you being a small side bonus to the trip).

Pretty good petsitter, kind of. Lynette has her own cats at home, so she's used to being climbed all over or serving food and whatnot. As long as the animal isn't scared of her, it will go fine. Just pray to God you have no machines that she'd have to use in her time there, and she'll be fine, 8/10 (points deducted for obvious reasons).

The Arcana Drabble: MC transforms into a "monster"

In the spirit of things, I though a long drabble/short oneshot would work best to keep the madness going XD

Asra's getting stuck in their "one focus and one focus only" mode and right now that focus is making sure you're okay. He'll decide how he feels later, which isn't being helped at all because Julian keeps calling on him to help him slow down the process and get you to think about this a little more. However, it's hard to tell what exactly Julian wants your decision to be because in between him trying to get Asra to make you think about it some more, he's having all kinds of medical epiphanies about how your anatomy is adjusting to the new monster form:

"MC, let's think about some more, shall we? I'm sure Asra agrees with me - don't you, Asra? Asr - oh, whats this?! Your finger's joints are rapidly adjusting to accommodate for - I need a pen and paper -"

"Right here, Ilya." It's Portia's dismissive tone as she digs a small notebook and pencil out of her pocket that keeps you grounded. Not for long, though, because she can't wait to see what happens next. "Accommodate for what, anyways? Are you growing another joint?? Are you going to get claws??? Talons???? Show me!"

Between Julian jotting down unintelligible notes while he studies your elbow's range of motion, Portia's excited exclamations, and Asra's attempt at soothing touch as they rub your shoulders and ask how you're feeling, it's a miracle you can notice Muriel's quiet mumble in the background. He's clearly overwhelmed and very concerned that the physically-altering substance in general got to your brain first, making you so seemingly okay with turning into a monster.

"MC, do you remember your name? Do you need to take a nap? You don't have to be okay with this -"

"I believe this may warrant far more than a nap to recover from." Nadia's doing her best to keep Lucio calm, holding him back from tackling you much like she might grasp a leash. You can practically see the headache building behind her eyes. "We have yet to determine what the extent of this transformation is and therefore whether our dear MC is even capable of fully agreeing to the current process. MC, darling, did the source of this transformation give you any indication of what the end result would be?"

You'd try to respond, but Lucio's excited yelling is too noisy to shout over. He's fumbling at the fastenings on his cape, distracted by your ongoing changes, and very annoyed at Nadia's interference.

"Where did it go? I want to see if it can give me powers too - OW! Dammit, Noddy, I'm trying to help here! You're keeping me from finding the monster and getting it to give me cool - I mean, getting it to tell us more about what's happening! Don't you want that? Don't you want to help MC, Noddy?! Let me go -"

It's with a loud RIP and subsequent "that was velvet, you know!" that Lucio finally breaks free and sprints off in the direction of your new monster friend. You can feel yourself slowly settling in to your new form as the process shows signs of slowing and reaching completion.

Nadia's facepalming. Portia's looking at you with eyes shining in wonder. Julian's still trying to nag Asra into reversing this as he takes notes. The magician in question is still ignoring him as they ask you how you feel for the nth time. Muriel's eyeing the nearby closet in hopes of taking a nap and waking up to it all being a dream. Lucio's a distant, spiky golden speck at this point.

Faust is quietly trying to sneak her knife into your hand, for crimes.

irredeamable development retrospective. Part 1.5: capitalism IN SPACE This one part will tackles an alternate setting for the Specter game we spoke of last time. It may even have come first in the development timeline, through it can be a bit difficult to determine exactly how and when ideas shifted so lets not worry about what actually came first. Much like shadow and light, this game was about a specter, possessing people, but just as the title says, the setting was more of a space-faring adventure where you would visit multiple planets.

It features much of the same races as shadows and light, though their exact appearance has shifted a bit, as everything would in a different setting.

Depicted here, we have Mars, a frozen desert planet with large scale mining operations and a bit of a western vibe. Humans and mitons are the main races here and were given stout figures and thick coat to fit the cold yet dry weather. Venus is now overgrown with a rich, volcanic jungle where countless comic plant are being grown and harvested. This planet is mainly occupied by goblin employees who take the place of the succubus from last game. Mercury was hollowed out and turned into a giant energy powerplant, with a massive solar panel attached to one side. Earth ...well i dont think i ever did figure out what to do with it. Its kind of just another mining planet. and finally we have the alien mothership. The home base of a group of invading alien corporations from the Alpha Centauri system. ....yes i know what it looks like, but its actually supposed to be based on their system having 3 stars (2 large and 1 small)

Aniway, the Centaurian species consists of long-lived and hyper-intelligent giant squid. Their technology is very advanced, especially in domains of communication, space travel and artificial life. Many of their servants (which i think included the goblins) are bioweapons that were specifically crafted to integrate into local populations and perform whichever jobs were needed for the growth of the company. There was never much of an actual story, so all i really got left are some blueprints of the solar system, now converted into some kind of space construct for the Centaurians to exploit.

Aniway, thats it for today, but next time we`ll be leaving all those specters behind and move into yet another setting. One that is not quite so cosmic, but instead rather....toweresque... To be continued in part 2: Ascending the Godlands

One thing imma be real one thing i don't like about some mouseverse comics is that some characters just straight up look so human, and honestly I think that theres some good missed potential with some of them like the phantom blot la creatura

Before I got into the comics for good I thought the phantom blot was suppoust to be a human and that was one of the reasons why he freaked mickey out so much bc he's just straight up activating his uncanny valley/ is somewhere where he's just straight up not suppoust to be so he doesnt look like anything mickey's seen yet but apparently he's suppoust to be a dog

I think blots design is very good without his mask he looks like one of these rich people way over their head (its bc of the mustache, brows and half closed eyes half of the time im telling you he looks like he has 500$ of spare change in his pocket at all times )

But blots design really doesnt look like a dog and I honestly think for him thats a strenght for a couple of reasons I dont wanna fully write out here bc id be getting into character design study for like 4 pager out here but the main point is Blot is the villian and a well masked one on top of that his design being highly diffrent from others is a good thing bc he's already not like others he stands out and he's evil and he's suppoust to be creepy so I think not really looking like a dog despite teachnicly being one has its purpose and even metaphor to it if you wanna go that route (maybe bc he views himself so above everyone and so humanized compared to them that he ends up sticking out, because he is so above them he's no longer one of them and its visible in his design)

But the points above start to fall flat and explode like a comicly large firework when you consider eeeeeh

All these are background/one off characters so I understand why the designs arent exactly thought out on the same level as main characters that would honestly be ridiculous but some of them just don't look like any animals and some straight up look like humans with slightly altered face structure

When I was first reading that comic i thought she got the "kitty kat" treatment but turns out its just a thing for one off/side characters

Also there are some alternative designs for already existing characters that look more human in animation that arent used for some reason probably bc the animation and comic departaments being quite diffrent and also having a giant brick ball between eachother or disney just refusing to re-brand or re-design things that are already somehow well known

I dont know it could just be me being picky but I feel like there would be some ways of making the side characters look more animal but still easy to draw and design, maybe something like character base's for diffrent animal species that can get altered for diffrent one off/side characters...or giving the comic artist more time to do their job crazy idea i know

keeping objects as pets #7: pillows!

hi there! in this series, i’ll be going over basic descriptions of commonly-kept object species (and some rare ones too!), facts about them, why you might want one as a pet, their basic needs and necessities provided you want to house one, and things you should NEVER do. you know the drill by now: post seven, pillow talk!

description

pillows, as their name might suggest, are typically square or rectangular in shape (though other shapes have been recorded), soft and squishy and sometimes covered by a fabric "pillowcase". this membrane seems to be a protective organ that all pillows are born with, but due to their lifestyle it almost always is injured or absent entirely due to injury in the wild. domestic pillows have one more often. these objects have very sharp teeth, very sharp claws and an extremely aggressive disposition. they are hypercarnivores and exclusively consume meat from hunted animals in the wild. their limbs are quite large to their bodies proportionally, their legs are digitigrade and adapted for chasing prey, and their hands and feet both have four digits (as well as dewclaws) and pawpads. their claws are retractable.

facts about pillows

as previously stated, pillows are hypercarnivores and apex predators. they have a high success rate when hunting and are a keystone species due to keeping populations of smaller objects from skyrocketing. they form groups with other pillows in the wild (typically consisting of around four total, though more is sometimes seen) for hunting - they hide while waiting for an unsuspecting object or animal to come by before ambushing them and quickly killing with a bite to the jugular. pillows are known to engage in surplus killing and may attack and kill without actually consuming their prey, though they do usually stockpile hunted animals in their dens to consume later. they mark their hunting grounds by scratching bark off trees with their claws. we aren't fully sure when they were domesticated, where or exactly why. they typically give birth to around three or four children at once, and the collective noun for a group of pillows is a fluff.

wild/feral/stray pillows have been known to attack humans at times, usually due to intrusion on their hunting grounds or in their dens, but there are only 3 recorded deaths from pillow attacks.

why as a pet?

pillows as outdoor pets are fantastic pest control! they will hunt any mice, rats and other pest animals as well as any small objects that get too close to their den. however, stray pillows are a major invasive species and should be treated as such. if you see a wild pillow, i highly recommend contacting a tnvr program near you to trap it. they don't typically make good indoor pets, but they have been known to sometimes bond with people very strongly. i wouldn't suggest keeping one as an indoor pet unless one bonds with you - pillows kept as indoor pets are usually raised around humans from the moment they're born to get them used to contact.

despite their violent personalities, these objects are also quite inquisitive. they are known to do things seemingly to find out what will happen and this can be quite fun to watch!

basic needs + do's and dont's

these objects, though domesticated, have very very strong hunting instincts. they need constant access to toys or they WILL attack you, no matter how bonded. you should never try luring one to play with your bare hand as they will bite or scratch you in response. i highly recommend getting two that are a bonded pair as they will play with each other and get some of their excess energy out that way. they need a good amount of space to be comfortable and will need to be walked outside at least a few times a week. you should NEVER LEAVE THEM UNATTENDED WITH OTHER OBJECTS OR PETS! they are prone to randomly attacking. and no, they cannot be declawed. they will need a fresh source of meat twice per day - they can develop issues from poor diets! they need to of course be vaccinated as they have been known to contract rabies, distemper and other diseases. never feed wild pillows!

housing

much like cats, pillows will sharpen their claws on anything and everything. you will need LOTS of scratching posts, LOTS of toys to keep them engaged (you will need to play with them for at least two hours every day, though more is definitely better), and LOTS of patience. they will destroy your furniture if you don't give them lots of places to sharpen their claws. there are concentrated pheromone sprays for attracting them to specific areas to scratch if needed, which can be bought in specialty object stores or online. their dens (the area where they sleep, rest and bring food to eat) should be cleaned weekly at the bare minimum. when bonded to humans, their dens will often be wherever the person sleeps, but if you don't want to find raw meat in your bed you should try encouraging them to shelter in a specified location.

sometimes i wish people could talk more about the other aspects of half life, the main characters are fun yes, but could we also think more of Black Mesa? the fact that they were experimenting with Xen BEFORE the resonance cascade? how in game you can notice when the HECU are loosing to the alien species, how it wasnt their decision to clean up the mess by killing anyone in it and was the government decision (still this doesnt mean there werent soldiers who dgaf about killing people), basically anything that happened in Black Mesa during the resonance cascade, the nihilanth trying to invade earth not exactly because of them waiting power but to be safe from something way big (as speculated according to the Nihilanth dialogues), that something being the combine (problably), this interdimensional alien empire is the most interesting thing to me, the combine took opportunity to conquer earth because of the resonance cascade, the combine took earth in 7 hours and that says a lot about it, how Breen took his change, but did he really did it because of selfish choices? sure, he had power by negotiating with the combine, and is kinda his fault what happened in Black Mesa, you can think maybe he feels guilty about it but i believe he doesnt actually accept that, he doesnt accept his negligence about the experiment, Breen is a somehow complicated character for me, he is an asshole, dont forget that, but he was never in power, he was a puppet for the combine, i dont even believe the combine sees him as worthy, the combine problably sees him as just the propaganda for humanity, Breen neither had many opportunities, if he ever tried to rebel against the combine he will sure be dead, and is not easy to do that in his position, he doesnt even believe entirely in his speeches, he is an idiot who knows how to choose words and how to manipulate, also, he probably didnt wanted to loose that power the combine gave him (as like, he wanted to save himself, why risk it trying to save humanity?), Breen is not entirely bad but that doesnt mean he is good, he is what you can call... selfish? i dont know if that is the right word, i made this more about Breen again (sorry but i find him quitte interesting, if you give me the chance to talk about breengrub i would go nuts) other interesting factors in the half life story has to be the combine advisors, we dont know too much about them, they are problably another enslaved species of the combine, (which talking about, it is so interesting how combine is this interdimensional empire, enslaving species which combine can use as a tool, using resources from whatever place for its own), but they are intelligent species, talking about aliens lets not ignore the vortigaunts and the species that habited Xen, ohh Xen... another place i like (not the levels though) it was a safe place for the aliens species, but that place couldnt be safe forever, as i said, the Nihilanth wanted to invade earth for their own safety, rather than wanting power, all of this because of the force when wouldnt know until half life 2, of course im talking about the combine, i love a lot how the combine is written, valve writters did a really good job into writting the combine as one of the most oppresive empire forces, i love a lot to speculate the lives of the citizens, the lives of the metrocops, the lives of the rebels and many things.
