A/n I want people to know I’m still now writing much marvel but this was a special request so … yeah.

To say you felt bad would be an understatement. It had been a hard day. No. It had been a hard week filled with hard days and it just seemed to be never ending. Today you decided to tell whoever was pulling the strings to kindly fuck off. Whatever cruel game they were playing could play without you for just one day. Sure, it wouldn’t fix anything, but the bed was so comfy. The team could survive one day without you. They were big kids, and they could suck it up for once. Today was a pj and bed day. The only reason you were leaving this bed was for the bathroom and snacks.

Nat had been up since dawn as she was every day. You can take the girl out of training, but you can’t take the training out of the girl. Nat was in the gym, the boys were all away on a trip to some space conference or something Tony wasn’t in a sharing mood, so they were either in space or somewhere else, for once nat didn’t care.

After a solid three hours in the gym, she threw in the towel. Using the fluffy sports towels Tony kept in the gym nat took a shower and changed into comfier clothes. She has been up before the sun and already gone for a run before she came to the gym.

After what could only be described as the best shower of her life, nat walked to the lift and caught it to the communal floors for a hearty breakfast. Quietly she padded down the hall and into the kitchen. For once it was only Wanda at the table and they exchanged a puzzled look.

“I thought y/n was with you?” Wanda said covering her mouth which was full of jam and toast.

“I assumed she was here?” Nat responded coming to lean on the bench.

“Nope, haven’t seen her at all today.”

“Neither.” Nat frowned, you had seemed rather blue and tired when you went to bed last night but nat was willing to dismiss it as stress combined with fatigue.

“We should probably go check on her. Right?” Wanda asked putting down her half-eaten toast.

“Yeah… yeah, probably.” Nat said trying to stop herself from biting her lip. She usually did her best to suppress her anxious habits to make it easier to slide into character for missions. Wanda slides a comforting arm up and down nat arm.

“She’ll be alright. She probably just overslept.” Wanda said but they both knew you never overslept.

The two women took the lift to the floor with everyone’s rooms. Walking down to the hall at the end nat forwent knocking as her nerves got the better of her while her mind ran circles around her heart.

Opening the door, she frowned at the fact the curtains were still drawn. She looked to the bed to see a y/n sized lump cover head to toe by the blankets. Wanda stood in the doorway ready to provide backup of nat needed it.

“Y/n.” Nat said poking the lump.

“No.” Came a mumbled response.

“No?” Nat asked.

“No.” you said again.

“Y/n what’s wrong you never sleep in?” Nat asked shuffling up the bed to wrap her arms around you as best she could in this position. “Baby we just want to help.” She said softly.

“It’s … it’s all too hard.” You sobbed and Nat gently peeled back the blanket to see your tear-stained face.

“Oh honey.” She cooed and slide under the blankets to wrap you in her arms. She ran her hands through your hair while she tucked your face under her chin. “It’s ok my sweet girl. It’s ok. It will all be ok. I won’t let anything happen to you. We love you so much baby girl.” She cooed holding you tight into her chest. Over your head she shot Wanda a look and Wanda nodded and disappeared.

You must have cried for hours. To Nat’s credit she never left your side. She held you the whole time, uncaring of her tear-soaked clothes, you were more important.

“Baby? Do you want me to braid your hair?” Nat whispered and felt you nod into her collarbone. Gently she sat you up and grabbed the hairbrush from the bedside. After brushing out the knots which was a slow process due to her wanting to tease them all so you weren’t in pain, she started braiding. She began by sectioning your hair, running her nails over your scalp to seperate it into chunks. After it was properly parted she began twisting the strands, grabbing more hair as she went to create a beautiful design that ran across your head and fell into two of the cleanest braids you had ever seen. When nat was done she pressed a kiss to each of you cheeks and rubbed her thumb over your cheekbone.

“Oh my love, I don’t know what I’d do without you. I don’t know how I’d survive without your little notes it find around the tower. Or the endless ideas you have on missions. Your so special my dove, never forget that. The world would be lonely without you. Everyone is unique to loose you would be to loose something so unique it will never return. We need you. Not just as an agent, but as a person. You are loved my baby. You are so so loved.” Nat said and pressed a kiss to your nose. You let out a small sniffle and nuzzled into her neck.

Wanda came back to the door and sent nat a nod over your head.

“Hey y/n/n?” Nat asked softly.

“What?” You asked in a small shy voice.

“I think you might want to come to the cinema.” Nat said and helped you up. You shot her a confused look and nodded to tired to disagree.

“Ok.” You mumbled.

“Thank you baby.” Nat said and before you could react she scooped you into her arms. Your fronts pressed together as she held onto you like a toddler. You buried your face in the side of her neck and let the up and down motion of her steps lull you into a soft hazy daze.

After a minute you felt nat sit down on something soft. She held you close to her and whispered in your ear. “Open your eyes sweetie.” She said and you looked up. And you have never loved Wanda more.

Starting with the table, Wanda has dragged a table into the room which was covered in snack and drinks as well as just about every takeaway box from New York. She had made a pile of blankets which was made into a makeshift bed the size of almost the whole cinema floor. Pepper was sat cross legged tapping on a tablet and looked up to meet your gaze with a tender smile. Carol was tossing jellybeans into her mouth and sent you a wink when she caught your eyes. Mj was doodling in her sketchbook down the back and waved when she saw you. Yelena and Kate were throwing food at each other which was being eaten by Kate’s dog lucky.

You looked over to Wanda with tears in your eyes. “You did this for me?” You asked gazing around and noticing your favourite movie cued up to play.

“Of course y/n. The boys don’t get to have all the fun.” Wanda grinned and you sniffled.

“Thanks guys. It really means a lot.”

“Anytime boo.” Carol shot you finger guns and a grin.

“Not a problem at all y/n. I love free snacks.” MJ grinned.

“I needed a break.” Pepper sighed.

“Clint’s been driving me crazy, this is the perfect escape.” Kate said and elbowed Yelena from where she was trying to steal her pizza back off lucky.

“Oh… yeah… free pizza and a movie, plus a chance to annoy my favourite sister? Wouldn’t miss it for the world bubs.” Yelena grinned and lunged at the dog who darted out of the way and she landed on Kate who pushed her off.

“It wasn’t that hard. Plus you deserved it.” Wanda said and Nat just placed a tender kiss to your lips leaving the taste of her chapstick she stole from you a month back.

“Ready?” Wanda asked and you nodded as she pressed play.

It was safe to say you had never felt more loved and safe. Life was full of hard times, but without them the good wouldn’t feel so great. You were needed. You were loved.

alright. so. COFFEE SHOP BLUES EDDIE. first and foremost, that eddie is from my purely self indulgent barista!au for those of you who don’t know. for legal reasons, it’s totally not based on true experiences or a very real company. totally not. for legal reasons. but, the entire premise is this eddie entirely untouched from the upside down — non-canon compliance so we can be happy for once baby ! — and just playing around with who he is without all that. he gets the job as a barista, he’s a damn pessimist, and- well, i liked to play around with what would happen if he was the grumpiest barista to ever exist and got reality checked by a sunshine-incarnate barista. and, spoiler alert, the boy would probably melt. he does melt.

my inspiration is drawn entirely from uh… well… can i have a lawyer if i admit this? nah im just kidding he’s based on my own experiences! and contrary to what plenty of people have said to me (if i had a nickel every time said they imagine me as reader i’d be far richer than i am which makes me so 😭), eddie is the character based around me. i think he’d react very similarly to how i do most of the time at work. being grumpy, being so easily inconvenienced by every small thing, always huffing and puffing and wanting to be better. and i think reader is what i’d like to be. at the end of the day, it’s just a nice way to romanticize life, i guess. <3

my favorite headcanon that i’ve never shared in the story is that everyone actually finds that he’s very good at his job. it’s emphasized he isn’t necessarily friends with the other baristas, and there’s a whole lot of him internally comparing himself to the people he thinks do the job better (*cough* reader *cough*), but that whole “i can do better. i have to do better” mentality has led him to being quite good at the job actually. he puts himself down, says he isn’t that good, etc. but he is. customers like that feline grumpiness (the girls that come in regularly for frappucinos in the afternoon are always secretly hoping he’s there, definitely living their ‘i can fix him’ fantasy despite reader already having set sail on that boat), his coworkers admire him albeit they get a lil scared of him due to resting bitch face, and all that. he makes a mean fucking cappuccino. his drinks always just taste better. he’s just good. he’ll never admit it, but damn is he good at his job.

on a casual day, this man is living in comfy clothes. big band tees, plaid pajama pants or sweats. the only time he puts on jeans these days is when he works. which, i mean, listen — he works often. he lives his days by what shift he has, not by days of the week. weekends are nonexistent to him. he’s earned some damn comfort when he’s just at home, ya know? (also, most of his clothes that aren’t graphic tees or comfy pants just stink of coffee these days. ugh.)

his favorite food is probably the cake pops at work. he’s a sweet tooth fiend with them. someone accidentally breaks one when opening the packages? oh no !! he’ll take that off their hands. all of his free food mark outs? 50% cake pops. he’s on food? he’s definitely accidentally bagging and slipping one or two off to the side for himself. sometimes coworkers will try to convince him when he’s on the food position to slip them a free cake pop as well, and every time, he’s flipping them the bird and a quick “steal on your own time, bud”. (unless it’s reader. unless it’s sunshine. then, he’s caving, handing over the birthday cake pop he just marked out for himself without second thought. even if he rolls his eyes as he does it — he’d give her the world if she just asked).

his family situation is pretty close to canon — wayne. and obviously he has hellfire, he has corroded coffin, but all of those are just… small things. he’s finally graduated in this universe, so hellfire doesn’t meet as often. corroded coffin’s members are still in their senior year, so sometimes studying for a calculus test is overriding band practice for them. which i mean, was a bummer and led to him needing a distraction like a part time job (also — money) but it’s all good now, cause he gets to bug Sunshine on his days off when he’s bored. they’ve definitely exchanged numbers, and they’re definitely sending each other an obligatory dumb meme a day. sorry, i don’t make the rules.

he likes pop music. don’t ever ask him about it, he denies it, but Sunshine got him into all those radio hits. he’ll find himself humming along to the radio at work constantly too. and, the one time he and Sunshine worked a very rare, LITERALLY only happened once close together, they definitely were belting out britney spears’ “hit me baby one more time”, dancing around the closed stores and eddie using the mop as a mic while Sunshine tried to stock up all the cups. the shift on duty was unamused, to say the least.

he’s pretty pessimistic in all avenues, but there’s something deep inside of him that’s just a bit hopeless romantic. especially after meeting Sunshine. he listens to her prattle about her romance books all day, and he hates the fact that he finds himself smiling at some of those different scenarios she’s gushing about. but it’s cute, okay? besides, it’s only giving him more ideas about how to wow his favorite barista. sex, on the other hand, he’s still pretty bland on. he’s had one or two one night stands, names he’s forgotten at the Hideout after shows, and he’s not really got the energy to be some sex-crazed fuckboy. listening to his coworkers’ hookup stories and relationship problems work pretty well to remind him he could be doing far worse (but if anyone were to ask him what he thought of Sunshine in that context? oh. oh the poor boy. the scary dog facade fades, and his ears have never been pinker as he’s stuttering about having to grab something from the back that he just stocked. he’s just grateful she never seems to have her own escapades to talk about — he probably wouldn’t survive the world-ending jealousy that would cloud his vision.)

pessimistic. so so pessimistic.

a couple months ago, he would have said his room. alone. or practicing with cc, on his guitar. or behind his dm screens, watching as his little sheep panicked over the latest twist he’s revealed for his current campaign.

but now? maybe he’s just gone soft, but the first place he thinks of is a rainy afternoon in the back of his van, his head in Sunshine’s lap as they listen to the slight drizzle bounce off the roof. he swears if he closes his eyes, he can still feel her fingers against his scalp.

A/N: This was originally a poly-relationship request with shuri, riri, and reader, but I don’t feel qualified enough to write a poly relationship and I don’t want to offend anyone that is in one. So i did them as separate scenarios. I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!

Shuri Udaku

Shuri is always tucked away in her lab - this is nothing new. The Wakandan royal was known for filling her days with lab work, to the point where she forgot to take care of other responsibilities, including herself.

It takes a lot to get Shuri to even agree to leave her lab for a short while. So when she finally succumbs to your whims, you only have so much time on your hands to help your lover unwind.

You first start with a decent meal. Youre sure that the only thing Shuri’s had that day is a muffin and some fruit, so you sit her down and serve her some of her favorite food. It took a while to learn how to cook it near perfection, and the smile that appeared on her face was absolutely worth it.

Next, you’d lead her to your shared bedroom. Your clothes for the evening were laid out and ready to go. A matching set. Of course Shuri has questions, but you shush her before she can ask anything, and instruct her to get dressed because you two were going out for the evening.

In Wakanda, there’s always activities to do for everyone of any age, at any given point in time. You first stopped at the marketplace, planning to hit up the street stands and vendors. There’s music playing which definitely helps Shuri unwind a little bit. You grab you and Shuri something light to drink - she’s never been one for alcohol, but the fruity drink was too tempting to pass up

Next up, you step to another vendor and grab a couple of snacks to keep you satiated throughout the night. Shuri’s attention gets drawn to a group of dancers and you two watch them for a while, giving praise and congratulating them on a good performance once its over. They were very accepting of the praise from the future queen.

After chilling with the dancers, you start leading Shuri to the river. You have her close her eyes and you're leading her by her hand. And when she opens them, it’s revealed that you planned a little moonlight picnic for her. At this point she’s probably on the verge of tears because fuck, she really needed this, really needed a break from everything.

Shuri rids her mind of thoughts of her lab and her science projects and focuses all her attention on you and the love and care you're showing her. She’s eternally grateful for you and your presence by her side, and shows as such with a passionate kiss under the moonlight.

Riri Williams

Much like Shuri, Riri tends to hide herself away in her makeshift lab in her home's garage. She’s always tinkering with something, putting together little machines and working on rebuilding her suit. Paired with online classes and general teenage pressures, one can imagine how tense Riri is.

It takes for Ronnie, Riri’s mother, to call you up and ask you to get her child into some sunlight. So you do a lil pop up on the engineer on a day where Riri just can’t seem to get any of her things to work right. The offer to go for a drive to clear her head is enticing, and with enough coaxing, she takes you up on it.

You wait for her to get dressed into something comfy (which you don’t hesitate to notice how it matches your clothes subtly) and the first destination of the day is to Navy Pier. Riri loved the pier for many reasons - two of them being the food and the view. So of course you spend a good couple of hours at the pier racking up a good selection of food from the various restaurants, cafes and bakeries inside.

The few games and entertainment attractions at the pier, Riri begs you to go to each one. Even the ferris wheel (and you know why the ferris wheel - she’s been watching those cliche movies again where the lovers kiss at the top of it), and you entertained her.

You could see the inner child in her beaming so bright when doing the freeze tag game, going at it in the arcade rooms, and at some point, she started randomly playing tag with a bunch of little kids whose parents were on the phone, not paying attention to them.

Riri was practically jumping in her place while she held your hand in line for the ferris wheel, garnering a few unwanted stares. But you stared back harder, not wanting their judgemental looks to ruin your pretty girl’s excitement.

When getting on the ferris wheel, and reaching the top where the wheel paused for a couple of seconds, Riri took the time to thank you for taking her out and helping her unwind. She confesses that she needed it, but just couldn’t find it in her to leave the garage. And your response is to kiss her while at the top of the ferris wheel, and tell her you’ll be there to help her when she can’t help herself

i really like being around people, and i like helping others in any way i can, i can be quite selfless at times but i know when to be stern to protect myself.  i am quite social but i suffer from some mental illness, specifaclly bipolar and schizophrenia so it can make it quite hard to understand and connect with others and the world around me.

i am autistic and i often stim a lot by flapping my hands and moving my arms around. i have a lot of different interests, i really like silly things like clowns i think they are awesome and i really like fictional media, i also like collecting toys like my little pony, it makes me feel really happy!

i have a couple hobbies, i really like shopping a lot, i find it to be super fun, i also like writing and drawing, and i’m getting into software engineering! i also like listening to music, i listen to a wide range of genres but my favorites are breakcore, indie folk, glitch core and basically anything that is loud tbh 😭 

i am often disconnected mentally from the world around me, so i sometimes have psychosis and hallucinations, i take medication for it and it works well but i still have episodes sometimes, it really helps having someone to ground me back into reality.

i really like bonding over interests with others and getting people into the stuff i like, i also love listening to others talk about things they like. i have really bad memory so i often forget important things but i try my best.

best way to describe my style i guess would be older brother core 😭??? idk but basically i wear comfy oversized clothes like silly t- shirts with cats on them and pj pants with cartoon characters on them and silly character beanies. 

i really like being shown love by getting gifts and people doing actions of service for me, i kind of have trust issues so it’s hard to believe someone when it’s just words and not actions.

i am super chaotic i love saying unhinged things and just being very loud it’s very fun for me, i like jokingly threatening to eat people  😭 i also often type in all caps.

i am in a lot of obscure fandoms and i LOVE nerding out about my interests!

A  Random Review of Titans United: Bloodpact

Sorry some of these pics are blurry. Some are really big and Tumblr doesn’t like them. So Hopefully they’re still readable.

For the simple reason of me enjoying how Tim Drake was drawn on the cover of the issue I decided to read it, despite me mostly choosing not to read any modern comic, because of my displeasure of the writing choices.

But Tim’s pretty unlucky with artists and how they draw him so seeing this was enough for me to give it a quick look.

I don’t exactly need a deep reason to read a comic.

But it ended up being a very pleasant surprise, because I wasn’t expecting much since it was a Titans comic, and apparently has the line-up of the live action show that I thought was boring. And used T-Shirt Kon, who I don’t particularly favor.

It ended being a surprisingly fun read. Not a really deep one, or a completely smooth read, but a really fun read.

Most of the first issue is a big fight, so instead of actual character moments, it’s more like “OH NOW IT’S THIS PERSON’S CHANCE TO SAY A LINE, AND NOW THEIRS” and so on. So if you’re reading because you love Starfire or Donna Troy or someone, you aren’t going to get much out of this first issue.

However to my shock, it was mostly focused on Tim Drake.

And all around has a damn good Tim Drake in it.

Tim Drake even inside the book and not just on it’s cover is very clearly identifiable as Tim Drake. Making him the smallest member of the team, along with his famously notable baby-face, big eyes, and classic hairstyle. Things that, despite literally being his description within the comics themselves, have a hard time being depicted often enough that it’s considered a pain.

He actually starts the comic off in his normal clothes, and before I read a single line I could tell it was Tim, because of how he was drawn, which isn’t always the case sadly. Sometimes he can be in costume and I’ll not be sure if it’s Tim because it doesn’t look like him.

This isn’t only a thing for Tim as well. All the other characters are drawn very distinctly so that if they were in streetwear as well, you could also tell who they are very easily. (On a side note I quite like the clothes they put Tim in. Simple, and comfy. Just feels very Timmy. Never a fan of when they dress him up extra formal or something, and tired of the generic button up look on him.)

Compared to someone like Dan Mora, who while also being a fantastic artist. Basically draws Tim Drake Robin and Dick Grayson Robin as the exact same person in a different outfit. Which isn’t favorable.

It’s increasingly rare to see an artist put in the effort to make sure the characters look like themselves if they don’t fit the typical depiction of a super hero, so it was a very welcomed addition.

Only one who looks a bit off might be Conner, who, apart from my opinion on his costume in this, just looks a little bit off. I think it might be the hair, ‘cause I don’t think he’s ever had a haircut like this.

But that’s a nit-pick if I’ve ever heard. So really, who gives a damn.

I’m mostly just having fun seeing Tim pop up all tiny-like in several panels. With several moments showing the team being a bit protective for him, which also feels right back at home for Tim. Never in any overwhelming way, but in a way that feels right without being distracting. Never making it too much about Tim that he feels overbearing when it’s a team book.

The writings also very fun, and writes the characters, it does put a bit more of a spotlight on pretty well. It starts off sort of old school with it’s style of narration, but it gives it a really interesting charm that I appreciated.

Beast Boy has his usual snarky, self-absorbed-ish attitude. And I really enjoyed how Dick and some of the other more typical Titans have a more mature attitude to them, that shows that are grown and serious.

Which is so satisfying in the way of Dick Grayson, because let me tell you, I am so sick of the depiction of Dick Grayson as a some sort of man child or doofus. He’s been a very serious, concerned, hard of himself, workaholic since maybe even before the 80s. To strip that away just to make him a sitcom character always came across as disrespectful for me.

Tim, who again, is the surprising focus of this first issue, and possibly the rest of the comic going off of how important he is to the beginning in end of the issue, but we’ll have to see on that, but anyways, is written very well.

I was super pleased with how Tim was written, because it felt like a fully rounded version of him, and not a fraction of him, or a generic hero that a writer placed his name on.

It shows how naturally heroic he is instantly, but doesn’t overwhelm the reader with that to the point he’s horrendously boring.

It’s the best representation of Tim Drake and Dick Grayson’s actual relationship in years. It’s not just redoing something they did 20 to 30 years ago. It’s new content of them being baby brother and big brother, having a back and forth full of teasing.

Seeing Timmy have his bratty baby brother side be shown for the first time in a way that’s felt authentic in years has been wonderful, even if it’s only for a page or two, because it sucks me in to this world, believing it’s actually in the same universe as the stories I love, instead of butchering it. It feels natural, because it’s them, not a pandering mess. It’s just them being them, and they’re fantastic together.

Timmy Drake also has his very very boyish and juvenile energy back. And is also made clear to be the ultimate underdog of the DC Universe, also very representative of who Tim is. Again, adding more layers to him, that represent who he is, through natural dialogue that feels appropriate for the moment, and authentic as if these are real people living in this fantasy and sci-fi laced world.

And overall when it comes to Tim, really shows how simple it honestly is to write the kid. He is not a difficult character to write. It’s done with such ease that I adore it.

These are such small moments into the overall, but it doesn’t matter, because seeing a Tim Drake just be Tim Drake, and showing off his different layers is a rarity. It is probably the best Tim writing since issue 1 of Sum of Our Parts, since...sadly Fitzmartin has shown that she isn’t really a great writer...and has...bad tendencies that really just insult the audience.

Could this also happen with this writer? Very well possibly. But that’s just how it is. Some writers stay good. Some writers are good but have bad moments. Some writers are bad and have good moments. In the end these writers are people, and people aren’t perfect. The same way I’m not perfect, and you’re not perfect. It’s simply how it is, as disheartening as it can be at times.

In the end it’s just fun, and represents them well. Though I’m just now realizing after posting that panel that Gar just said their real names which is...not very hero-y but oh well. It happens.

At the end of the story even it shows Tim’s good heart, empathy, and detectively mind without going overboard to the point it feels like flanderization.

There’s not much I can say beyond it’s overall super solid, and super satisfying if you’re a Tim Drake fan. Wish I could say more about the other characters. But they all seem to know each other, creating a nice big open world feel, and it’s nice. Sort of homely, ignoring how there’s a major fight happening. It makes the world feel real, which is rare, when so many other comics end up so inconsistent it never feels right.

I’d recommend reading it for sure.

It just goes to show that the good stuff doesn’t come from changing the characters in random ways.

The good stuff comes from putting our favorite characters in fun situations that highlight their personalities.

And Titans United: Bloodpact does it in spades.

When dealing with bird-like legs (or any other hybrid legs) you have to think of a good piece of clothing that would be appropriate, comfortable and that it should look nice. Idk if I managed to achieve it (tbf it's a sketch ref) but overall it looks well-put, it's easy to draw and I think it should be comfy. At least I hope so!

For his Life indicator I've chosen colors of his, uh, under-feathers?? I'm sorry I don't have the correct anatomical name for them and words in general are not my tea but I hope you all can see what I'm talking about

That design was in mind for Life Series only and I used it for post-Ep1 of Limited Life animatic but he decided to change his skin in Limited Life Ep2 and I just cope with it bc for the love of me I couldn't figure how leather jacket could work with all that

Glasses felt like a fun accessory at the moment but in the actual animatic it gave really cool 'Anime villain' effect

I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember, but if we’re being specific I’m pretty sure I started taking art more “seriously” around the age of 5 (that was when I looked at tutorials and started drawing a lot more! I actually still have the first notebook I started to draw in, and i have almost every sketchbook I’ve drawn in saved so I could probably go back and watch myself progress if i wanted to ejdhwkehka)

personally I also really love to draw bodies!! I love drawing all the lines and details in the skin & figuring out the way that the body looks when it bends and twists certain ways! I love studying muscles & bones to try and improve too, its my favorite part about drawing agahsjshea (if we’re taking about a favorite thing to draw tho, I absolutely love drawing my blorbos… especially eren, hes so easy for me to draw)

i’d say my least favorite thing would be clothes, because even though i enjoy it sometimes, clothing is sooo hard for me to figure out ;; not just for drawing, but also figuring out what to make a character wear?? I’d rather just keep them naked tbh but thats not always possible 😭😭

True Love’s Kiss

Author's note: I feel like I haven’t written for Dex in years!!! Anyways I’m in my Dex era again so feel free to request for him. This was based on a prompt I found somewhere that said, Smooching them all over the face, because that's the only thing that gets them to wake up

To this day there were times when Dex couldn’t believe you were right there in front of him.

To him you were so beautiful, so captivating, so untouchable. Yet here he was, his face only a few inches apart from your own as he waited for you to wake.

The day was stressful for Dex, and knowing that, the moment you two arrived from work you settled in comfy clothes before convincing him to take a small nap together to relax. Despite this plan derailing him from his usual routine, he wasn’t upset, he could never grow upset when spending time with you.

While Dex woke up earlier than anticipated, his intent was to let you rest some more, but as he continued staring at every detail that decorated every feature on your face, his lips became like a magnet as they were unconsciously drawn to your cheek.

He reached your cheek with a kiss. It was a soft kiss, a soft, calm and quiet kiss.

His heart quickened slightly as he retracted. You looked so tranquil he felt a little bit of nervousness in his actions.

Once again though, just as before his lips met your face, this time slightly higher onto your cheekbone. As his lips rested there for a mere moment he felt your face twitch and he cautiously leaned back.

But still, you were relaxed. Now Dex was starting to feel a little cheeky as he began to wonder how many kisses it would take for you to wake up. So, he placed his next kiss on your nose, which twitched just as your cheekbone had done.

When he distanced himself this time, his eyes fell to your lips and again he began to feel those jitters from earlier. He’s kissed your lips hundreds of times before, but right now, in this moment it felt like a whole new experience.

Especially as he quickly realized how much this scenario was reminding him of a cursed sleeping princess. You were the gorgeous princess that needed awakening from true love’s kiss. Did that make him the prince?

Dex hardly felt like the prince, if anything he considered himself to relate more to the beast in beauty in the beast, or maybe the ogre in shrek. Did he really have the right to lay here and kiss the alluring princess? But still even those characters got their princesses in the end.

Before Dex could spiral down the self-deprecation hole any further he glanced at your face as a whole reminding himself of how happy he was. He was happy you were in his life, happy you chose him, happy you were right in front of him.

He loved you. And no one would ever love you as much as he did.

With that thought he finally leaned in again, his lips finding their place against yours.

Just as all the others it was a chaste, simple kiss.

As his lips were to yours he felt your mouth curve a tiny bit before he felt them press back against his.

But again your lips broke into a smile causing him to retract once again.

He stared while you looked back at him with a cheesy grin now taking over your expression.

As if you had just read his mind you sigh, “…my prince, you saved me.”

Dex’s face matches yours and after a moment of consideration he followed you, “of course. Anything for my princess,” he replied, making you giggle before you reached out brushing your hand down his face, “now close your eyes, I wanna be the one to save you.”

Dex thought the whole idea a little silly but he did so anyway.

As per instruction Dex lay on his back, his hands atop one another as they rested on his stomach. His face remained neutral apart from the tiniest of curves that were threatening to break on his lips. He felt movement on your end of the bed and he waited.

…and waited.

And when nothing happened, he opened one eye catching you lying again on your side looking right back at him with a goofy smile on.

“Hey,” he said, eyes both open now.

“What? I didn’t say when I’d break the spell.”

Smile growing, he propped up, turning to his side and resting on his shoulder, “oh you’re going to break this spell, right now,” he said quickly lowering himself to your level and practically stealing a kiss. This time with a little more affection as he held one hand to your chin, cradling it so carefully.

You were going to argue against the unwarranted kiss but you were so captivated by his lips that you decided to let him go.

This time.

Fancy outfits: drawn to embroidery. He has a difficult time spending money on himself when it comes to clothing but Shadowheart encourages him to because they have to go to public events all the time in the years following bg3. He has no problem spending money on nice things for her tho.

Mark is SO nervous and SO fidgety-- Drumming his fingers, adjusting his glasses, hands in and out of his pockets. Often, he'll have his arms crossed and head lowered, like he's trying to blend into the wall. Shame he's a dog man and not a chameleon man, tbh. He's just generally a person who looks and acts like he's extremely uncomfortable in his own skin!

change: Has your OC ever drastically changed their appearance? Significant haircuts, big tattoos, complete wardrobe swap, etc? Why? How do they feel about the change?

I actually drew something similar to this earlier this month:

He spent several years extremely depressed while working at a watchtower in the middle of the woods while ALSO unknowingly possessed by an evil dog spirit that would transform him into a rampaging quasi-werewolf state (the horrors part 1) but he cut his hair about a year before the horrors part 2 when he met his gf Emily. In the horrors part 2, he learned about the evil dog spirit, had his soul fused with aforementioned spirit, and is now partially transformed at all times (the man to dog ratio depends on how stressed out he is at the time)

Emily: Emily has been settled into her current style for years now, but as a kid she experimented with her look a LOT. She would go to school one day dressed in pink hearts and sparkles, and the next day in full Renaissance faire garb. And because it's been forever since I've drawn her, this is what she looks like:

Currently she's been mostly gravitating towards practical comfy clothes (but still in bright friendly colors) due to the nature of the monster hunting project management business.

Sloane/Agent Hill: She's never really had a lot of resources or autonomy to change up her look on purpose-- going from a scrappy street kid to an indentured servitude to what is essentially the SCP foundation has left her without much avenue for self expression. She channels that by means of her snarky personality instead. She's acquired a fair number of nasty scars throughout the years though, which she carries with pride.

Book of the Month: “Two Old Fools Olé”

Hello Friends!

Hope you’re having a lovely day!

I wanted to share with you the book that I’m currently reading (well, listening to on Audible) at the moment. I figure: I’m always looking for book recommendations so I’d like share with you some of my favorites along with what I’ve currently got going on. I’ll be honest with my opinions and be sure not to include spoilers!

Typically I am interested in books that are more thrillers and crime dramas and have a few favorite authors and narrators that I follow. But since I am on the cheapest plan and only get one credit per month on Audible, I try and scope out some books that can carry me through until my next credit becomes available. This is where I have been pretty lucky in finding books that are out of my norm and I find myself looking forward to listening and reading them in between the credit availability. That’s where this selection of books featuring Joe and Vicky come in.

Anyhow, this book, by Victoria Twead, is the second in the series of “Old Fools.” The first, “Chickens, Mules and Two Old Fools” got me started. I decided since it was quite different than the usual type of book I’m drawn to, I’d give it a shot. So I listened to the sample, didn’t get irritated by the narrator because she has a lovely voice, and downloaded it. It was free after all! Might as well give it a shot.

The first book was absolutely fabulous and I fell in love with all the characters. Nothing crazy happens, but their antics and adventures and all of the people that Victoria and Joe meet along the way as they retire and move from the UK to Spain just kept my interest all the way through. By the end of the first book, I felt like I knew these folks, could picture their surroundings, visualize their adventures and enjoyed all the sweet and funny little stories about their day to day lives in their new country and community.

I spend a lot of time in the car, schlepping my 3 teens to and from school, work, activities, sports practices, friends and boyfriends houses. So instead of listening to music (which, let’s face it, when they’re in the car I’m stuck listening to the shitty stuff they like, unless they’re feeling in the mood for some tunes that are more my speed…more on that another day.) As soon as they’re out of the car, my phone gets plugged in and my book continues on, making me laugh, making the commuting time more enjoyable and keeping me interested. It’s funny because I’ve always been a big book reader and have a huge crush on the public library. But time is of the essence with all these kids and the go, go, go we’ve got going on. Audio books work best for me for now. And I never thought they would. They never interested me. Until my hubby gifted me with an Audible subscription for Christmas a few years ago and I just became obsessed with it!

I’ve now started listening to the second book, “Two Old Fools Olé” and it’s a continuation of the first book, with the regular characters as well as some new and interesting introductions and dilemmas. I think what I like best about this series so far is that there’s no violence or terrible crimes that occur. Anyone that knows me, knows I am a “true crime” fan… from TV shows to podcasts to books. I should have coined the phrase, “Crime Shows and Comfy Clothes.”

This group of books has been such a breath of fresh air! I’m excited to continue and get onto the third in the series.

If you’re looking for something light, funny, visually descriptive and filled with adorable characters, this is a good series to get into!

In canon, I think they’d definitely steal clothes from the others (mentioned in my comfort objects post!) for security reasons, throw on their most bizarre accessories (“where’d you even get socks like that” “don’t worry about it”), rock with some ratty sneakers if they’ve gotta wear shoes, and call it a day ! They’d prefer things to be more colorful, and they probably have one specific t-shirt that they’ve drawn on and decorated that became a regression shirt

In NON canon, I think they’d really like similar stuff (baggy t shirt and some shorts with funky socks), rompers or overalls, and if they had a onesie it’d be something very bright and loud. I can imagine it’s something rainbow-y or arts and crafts themed, or it’s just got a bunch of colors somehow. He’d probably pair it with shorts, incredibly mismatched socks, and again some ratty sneakers ! They’d also love hair accessories and he’d absolutely get into makeup and that is… a whole other story honestly but! That’s that !

Kobra

In canon, I feel like Kobra is in a similar boat (I mean I think they all are) of wearing some old t-shirt and a pair of shorts (though I think Kobra’s are definitely like cargo shorts). He just particularly focuses on being comfortable, and doesn’t really go too all-out with the colors and whatnot. He’ll sometimes take Party’s bandana or a hair tie of theirs (or Jet’s) as a lil accessory

In NON canon, he’d probably rock with some funny character t-shirts (I can see him with a Mickey Mouse shirt or like, one of those old “I had my birthday party at XYZ” found in a thrift store or something) and shorts, yet again, or a pair of jeans depending on how he’s feeling. He’s also down to wear sweatpants, just for the comfy factor. I think if he did wear a onesie, it’d have the lil holes for thumbs for a sensory factor, and would probably be a calmer color scheme OR have like . Dinosaurs/snakes/comic-style action words on it (“pow!” “Bang!” “Boom!” Etc etc). He might also wear shorts/sweatpants over it, but it depends

Ghoul

In canon, yet again, Ghoul’s rockin’ with the t-shirt and shorts combo, except he’s definitely lost the sleeves of his shirt (unless he borrowed Jet’s) and he should be wearing jeans because he is the biggest receiver of scraped knees… always. He’ll have his hair tied back sometimes, or at least away from his forehead to try and prevent some clumsy accidents, but hey (doesn’t always work). I think he’d LOVE to make beaded bracelets with Party, so they’ve probably got some matching ones made while one was regressed that he’ll wear too

In NON canon, I don’t think his changes all that much either. I think maybe he’d do a little more layering, throwing on another long sleeve or a 3/4 sleeve underneath his t-shirt (which is probably a band shirt or it’s something with monsters/dinosaurs if he’s feeling a little younger) and is a little more likely to at least attempt wearing the jeans (this is very short lived and it quickly becomes cargo shorts that always have Something in the pockets). I don’t think he’d wear a onesie, but if he wanted to feel that extra comfort factor, he might steal Jet’s jacket or similar

Seeing as I don’t imagine Jet regressing (and if he did, he’d still be the notably older brother probably leaning more towards mid-teens) I don’t see his outfits changing all too much ! He might dress in a bit more casual wear (whatever of his t-shirts aren’t stolen and some looser jeans), maybe tie his hair back (if Party isn’t messing with it), but it isn’t all too different <3

In a NON canon verse, I can almost guarantee he’d have those “best dad” or “fun uncle” so on and so forth t-shirts (Ghoul would borrow the “fun uncle” ones or have some “cool older brother” ones of his own, now that I think about it) and he absolutely thinks it’s funny to wear them both when the others are regressed and when they’re not. I think he’d still pair em with some cool jeans, maybe a jacket or vest, and he’s all about the boots always

his massages are heavenly. they’re warm as hell.

he’ll dig his palms into your back, massaging the knots. he thinks you’re strong for dealing with this

also, he’ll be curious (genuinely) with your tiddies. he’ll randomly cup them if you’re alone with him.

he doesn’t even realize it, he’s really curious.

and when you guys cuddle, he’ll just hold them, or he’ll bury his head in your chest and have the nicest sleep he has ever had.

I've already forgotten if you implied/flat-out stated romantic relationships or not.... but if not, I'd love to hear about Inej/Wylan friendship, or Jesper/Matthias being friends, since Matthias is clearly secretly drawn to overtly energetic and flirty grishas. 😆

ABSOLUTELY. you’re speaking my language, i love underrated friendships.

Inej and Wylan:

you cannot tell me that these two aren’t the prank masters of the crows. kaz gets too into planning, jesper and nina have zero subtlety, and matthias just sighs and goes along with whatever, but inej’s stealthiness combined with wylan’s inventiveness? working together, their pranks are legendary and cannot be beat. none of the other crows are safe. no one is safe. + for the same reason, they work ridiculously well together on jobs

they are canonically the smallest (but mighty) crows and are both also canonically stubborn. they agree that why ask for help reaching something on the top shelf when you can just climb up on the counter and do some simple gymnastics to get it yourself? jesper leaves them baking cookies and nearly faints when he returns to see inej perched on top of the fridge and wylan climbing the shelves like a ladder. jesper just doesn’t understand that being short is a lifestyle.

during inej’s first stay at the mansion at the end of ck, wylan lends her clothes since they’re around the same size and that just never stops. mysteriously his sweaters start going missing and end up in her luggage and at sea with her. wylan definitely dresses super comfy so when inej isn’t rocking her pirate fit, she’s wearing his comfy sweaters around the ship. she trades them out for different ones of his when she visits ketterdam. he doesn’t mind, he loves sharing :)

they love their boyfriends very very much but kaz and jesper are dumbasses so they talk to each other about their dumbass boyfriends. nina also joins them to talk about her dumbass boyfriend (who she also loves very very much). + bonus: while they hang out kaz, jesper and matthias are out having dumbass shenanigans

they’re both cat people. inej has a cat on board the wraith and wylan has a cat and when they get together they bring their cats together too and jesper and kaz (dog people) do not understand the fascination with the cats

i almost didn’t add this because it’s basically canon but wylan helps inej take down slavers using his position on the council and sneaks her secret council info and dirt on other merchants

Matthias and Jesper:

at first they have no idea how to interact with each other because they’re so different. but when nina inej and wylan are having their own hangout sesh and kaz is being his stand-offish self the two of them are forced to hang out alone. it’s super awkward until jesper brings up a dog park in ketterdam since nina told him about trassel, and they go to the dog park together. they make friends with all the dogs and matthias judges the owners’ training techniques. against all odds, jesper and matthias get along and they have a good day together

their relationship gives super loving dude-bro vibes, you get me? they convince the others to play sports with them. meaning they convince inej and nina. inej and nina are on a team and absolutely destroy jesper and matthias who are on a team but jesper and matthias get super into it and plan it all out + bonus: kaz and wylan are referees (kaz is extremely biased even though he denies it)

they both really love cooking. jesper canonically grew up cooking with his mom and then his dad and matthias just gives off the vibe of someone who loves cooking, so they cook together. the only snag is that fjerdan and zemeni cooking styles are polar opposites and are at opposing ends of the spice spectrum, zemeni food being super spicy and fjerdan food rarely being spicy. this leads to some very interesting combined meals

matthias discovers that jesper is super good at knitting/crocheting and decides he wants to learn (partially because this is a man who loves knitwear, mostly because he wants to make gifts for nina). jesper is a horrible teacher though so this ends in utter chaos and downright brutal arguments over yarn

they go to each other for relationship advice. jesper is super protective of nina and i can see matthias really growing to care about wylan so this works quite well in their favor

jesper convinced matthias to go out for drinks once. things happen, they’re out all night and somehow by morning they’ve gotten themselves arrested and the others have to come bail them out. they both tell very different versions of the sequence of chaotic events that led them there and to this day, no one’s sure whose story is the more accurate one. a true bonding experience

Styles and Attitudes, part 4: Sophie

My girl gave me the most grief XD you have no idea how many fully drawn rejects I now have on my tablet. Sometimes you think that the outfit will be perfect until you see it on the character and realise that no, it just doesn't flow as you wanted it to. Oh well

Anyway, Sophie's style is definitely the most simplistic and casual. She doesn't have much of an aesthetic like her friends do. It's all just... Stuff, you know? A bunch of sweaters, a few pairs of jeans, some shirts and hoodies that she "borrowed" from Tony later into their relationship (both the lilac hoodie and the pink shirt are stolen from him). This habit is a continuation of her getting to wear stuff that her brothers grew out of. For example, her favourite denim jacket used to belong to Adam, and the blue t-shirt that she restyled as a cop top was originally Levi's. Sophie calls this "a love tax" and explains that wearing these things "is like wearing a hug".

Sophie prioritizes comfort over looks, thus often wears oversized pieces (especially tops), yoga pants/leggings, denim and dark colors. Another factor that determines the contents of her wardrobe is money: she doesn't have a lot of cash to spare, so she rarely buys new items, and whatever she does buy she byus on sales or thrift stores. Generally, she does not own much: she had to change cities twice, and quickly got rid of anything that wasn't strictly necessary. This changed once she settled, however: she slowly started to dress up with more variety and let herself have things that weren't of basic need.

Despite not putting much thought into her clothes, Sophie does have preferences. She gravitates towards shades of blue. She's also the character who is most likely to wear funny prints and graphic tees, most oftenly with silly puns on them, just because it makes her - and people around her - smile.

She owns a few skirts and dresses, but they usually are in line with her casual relaxed looks. They still have to be comfy for Sophie to wear them, so she usually pairs them up with leggings to allow herself more movement. However, she also owns a single gown: a wine red option with high heeled shoes to go with it. This gown is reserved for job related occasions: whenever she has to attend an event for the theater, she puts on full makeup (something she almost never does when she's not on stage), heels and this dress. Since she feels like her behaviour needs to match her looks and the occasion's requirements, a Sophie In The Dress and Sophie as is are two completely different people. Sophie's manners change entirely, from a wise-cracking goofball to a sophisticated cynical socialite, which is pretty funny to observe for anyone who has ever seen Sophie's usual antics.

Sophie doesn't think too highly of her looks, which is a product of her self-esteem issues caused by her family and abusive ex. Her take is: "Ume is hot, Nana is beautiful, Hime is cute, and I am... Also here :D". Still, she doesn't really care: she sees her charisma as something more important than her "nose with deviations". Needless to say, once she got to get positive affirmations from her friends, her self-esteem started to improve.
