i love these little match ups!! you're such an angel for doing them they're literally adorable <3
song im fixated on: Persephone in the Garden by Aidoneus. first off i'm a sucker for hades and persephone and this song is written as if it's from his point of view sooo. but the part "you assumed that i could make you feel it was worth it/but all i ever did was drag you down" it's so powerful it makes me want to scream
my enneagram 4w5 hehe (also an INFJ which is... predictable)
childhood imaginary friend: omg i had a lot of imaginary friends growing up but my main one was this girl named alison and we would do everythinggg together. she was everything i wanted to be and more, kind, sweet, pretty, and just such a cool girly
go to sleepy time routine: i'm the kinda person who needs to make up a little scenario in my head. it helps me to get my mind off the day and to stop overthinking everything bc i'm thinking about my lil story hehe
changing my name: i think my name suits me really well tbh i don't think i would change it
fav audio: i <3 comfy cozy easy videos so like davids hoodie video or literally any sleep aid from any of them, i love the domestic boys
boy that doesn't hold appeal: tbh i love every single boy in their own way, truly i don't have a least favorite. but i probably get the least hype about vincents audios, i still love him dearly though, i'm just not AS attached
book/movie/tv show i know the words to: the hunger games omg i was so obsessed when i was younger and i've recently been rereading/rewatching and i really do know every. single. word.
which boy do you wanna be besties with: i would give anything to be best friends with ash he is such a cool dude. i feed off his energy so easily and he just creates such a safe space to be silly and laugh and i love him for it
sleepy ramble: my ramble is also definitely space. when i'm tired i start thinking about the logistics of existence and space and science and the world and i just go off on tangents
gas station combo: raspberry iced tea, bbq chips, and reeses hehe
fav playlist: one i made with one of my close friends, its perfection and i get new music out of it all the time
guilty pleasure media: idk if it counts but i do unironically love hallmark movies which usually gets a reaction out of ppl lol, i'm a hopeless romantic and they're horribly cheesy its a perfect combo
other info: my love language is physical touch, i looove reading and writing, and i rotate my stuffed animals so they all feel loved (toy story really did a number on me ajsdkfl)
i hope you're having a wonderful day, take all the time you need to get to this <33
Tumblr media
A lot about you- your enneagram, your MBTI, the types of audios you like- gives me the impression of someone very sweet and thoughtful, someone who spends a lot of time in their head and dreams. I think Anton would be a lovely partner for you in the way he complements that.
What I love about both these personality types is that they are introverted but in no way subdued; in that way, I feel you and Anton would be similar. There’s so much more beneath his surface than he lets on, but I think you bring that out in him, call out to the soft, gooey, loving parts of him no one else sees-
-and he would be SO adorably gooey and sweet. His voice would be the most perfect thing for you, given your preference for comfy, sleepy audios. I bet it’d be killing him to not be there to hug you or give you affection the way you’d prefer, so I can imagine him doing something really thoughtful like recording himself reading your favorite books to keep you company while he’s at ETS.
Song:
Even when we're miles apart, I have your voice but feel no touch/ You are so close to my heart, but we're far from flesh and blood/ See, in a world so full of dissonance, our harmony's a flood/ Inside my heart, I don't need cards or flying doves to feel our magic
I can’t get a read on what kind of music he would listen to, I’m not gonna lie, so I don’t know if he’d necessarily like this song, but the lyrics feel right, you know? I like how it’s formatted like an audio love letter, one he could send while he’s away.
Runner-Ups:
Morgan strikes me as similar to Anton in a lot of ways- they’ve both got this quiet, pensive nature that’s very appealing. If we were as intense and expressive as Anton, it would have been a closer call. Now, here’s the long shot. Someone sweet and charming like you would have gorgeous, dragged to the underworld, spouse of Hades vibes with Vega, okay? Just imagine it.
Note: as always, much thanks for your patience and understanding! I hope you see this and really like it (and Vega. You can imagine Imp!Vega instead if you prefer!)
Read this post and send me an ask if you’d like a match-up of your own! 💌

behind the scenes // ST. LOUIS FILM CRITICS ASSOCIATION AWARDS (2023)
Tumblr media
The winners have been revealed! The St. Louis Film Critics Association has announced its picks for the most outstanding filmmaking in 24 categories. Like all of the Nobel Prize winners in Barbie, they all worked hard for and deserve the recognition.
If you’re interested in the mechanics of how critics’ voting works , I recently provided a behind-the-scenes look at last year’s voting with a more logistical view. (Read it here or just keep scrolling to the next post if you’re on the home page of Crowd vs. Critic.) For this year's behind-the-scenes look, I’ll be sharing more about why I chose my nominations and how I decided on final voting. Of note, I had not seen every film that ended up being nominated before I submitted my nominations ballot, so if you’re wondering why I ignored Anatomy of a Fall, Bottoms, Evil Dead Rise, The Holdovers, Godzilla Minus One, Knock at the Cabin, Menus Plaisirs - Les Troisgros, Perfect Days, Poor Things, Robot Dreams, Skinamarink, Talk to Me, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, or The Zone of Interest, the simple reason is that there are only 24 hours in a day!
Tumblr media
Unlike awards shows, I’m starting with the big kahuna: Best Picture! The SLFCA decided to up this category’s number of nominations to 10 from 5, and you’ll keep seeing these 10 titles in my voting:
Priscilla - My favorite Sofia Coppola movie since 2006’s Marie Antoinette. It just missed a lot of nominations, which I suspect is because too few in the group had seen it, but those who had seen it ranked it highly. Unfortunately, every critic in the group only has 24 hours in a day!
Air - I rewatched this just before submitting my nominations, and it still rules! Based on chatter from my colleagues, I suspected the first six films on my list didn't have a ton of support across our group, which is why I ranked them higher. As you can see, my suspicion was correct since none of them made the final cut
BlackBerry - Another film that just missed nominations by a few votes, including Glenn Howerton’s performance as a most terrorizing boss
Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. - My first notable theater cry this year
Asteroid City - The 4th of 7 movies in my top 10 that were released before October—a rarity! I’ve been thinking about all of them for months since their release, which tells me it's not just Awards Season hyping them up in my mind
The Iron Claw - This is the most recent viewing to make my list, and it's also the one that made me cry the most
Past Lives - I ultimately ended up voting for Past Lives because its simple elegance moved me so much that it has stayed with me since seeing it in June
Barbie - The funniest movie of the year and one with big ideas...aka the heart of Crowd vs. Critic!
Oppenheimer - Practically eligible in every category—what wasn’t well-done here?
Killers of the Flower Moon - The same note as Oppenheimer, which is to say, no notes! I correctly assumed Past Lives, Barbie, Oppenheimer, and Killers of the Flower Moon would earn nominations without ranking them at the top of my noms, which was why I ranked them low even though I think they are all outstanding
Also on my long list: Creed III, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, The Killer, You Hurt My Feelings
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor are two categories I never wavered on how I would vote. Lily Gladstone and Ryan Gosling put performances for the ages on the screen this year! I also wanted to recognize the incredible year Jason Schwartzman has had between Asteroid City, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. His lead role in Asteroid seemed like the best bet for widespread support, but basically every time he breathed in The Hunger Games, I laughed.
More actors on my long list: Matt Damon, Air; Scarlett Johansson, Asteroid City; Anthony Hopkins, Freud’s Last Session; Florence Pugh, A Good Person; Jason Schwartzman, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes; Zac Efron, The Iron Claw; Michael Fassbender, The Killer; Carey Mulligan, Maestro; Jessica Chastain, Memory; Jodie Foster, Nyad; Teo Yoo, Past Lives; Colman Domingo, Rustin; Julia Louis-Dreyfus, You Hurt My Feelings
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These categories are always difficult for me to pin down. For Ensemble, is it about the breadth of performers and the number of familiar people I am happy to see? For Director, is it the size of the production and the level of difficulty the shoot appeared to have? Those are all factors, but I think it comes down to weaknesses being nigh invisible in both categories. For example, in The Iron Claw, it was difficult to identify which actor stood out the most because they worked so well in tandem. In Past Lives, the camera work, performances, and writing aligned perfectly to support its theme in every moment. Barbie ended up being my final vote in both categories because Greta Gerwig's vision of Barbie Land was inspired and every member of the huge cast found a moment to shine.
More directors on my long list: Ben Affleck, Air; Matt Johnson, BlackBerry; Sean Durkin, The Iron Claw; David Fincher, The Killer; Martin Scorsese, Killers of the Flower Moon; Bradley Cooper, Maestro; Todd Haynes, May December
More ensembles on my long list: American Fiction, The Boys in the Boat, The Color Purple, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Leave the World Behind, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which stories felt clever, sharp, and authentic to the human experience? Which felt fresh with a unique point of view? Which created moments I've never seen before onscreen? Which explored its ideas with honesty, empathy, and thoroughness? It’s no coincidence 8 of these screenplay 10 nominations align with my picks for Best Film.
More screenplays on my long list: American Fiction, The Boys in the Boat, Freud’s Last Session, A Good Person, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, The Iron Claw, The Killer, May December, Memory, Oppenheimer, Polite Society, You Hurt My Feelings
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s no such thing as objectivity in criticism, but it really goes out the window when looking at these focused categories. Animated and Documentary films aren’t as plentiful as live-action narrative films, and I’m not naturally drawn to Horror and International films as much as other genres, though I’m trying to grow in those areas. (Seeing Cocaine Bear, Renfield, and A Haunting in Venice in theaters felt like big risks for me!) Not including My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 on my ballot would have felt dishonest since I saw it three times in theaters, and Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is one of the most fun theatrical experiences I’ve had in years. Perhaps my most unpopular vote this year was for Elemental over Spider-Verse—I'm one of the few people who liked but didn’t love that sequel.
More genre films on my long list: Cocaine Bear (Comedy), The Covenant (Action), The Equalizer 3 (Action), Extraction II (Action), Gran Turismo (Action), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (Action, Comedy), A Haunting in Venice (Horror), The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (Action), Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (Action), Kandahar (Action), The Meg 2: The Trench (Action), Polite Society (Comedy), Renfield (Comedy), You Are So Not Invited to My Bar Mitzvah (Comedy), You Hurt My Feelings (Comedy)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In many ways, Stunts and Visual Effects are extensions of the Action Film category, with a few exceptions. The Iron Claw is a drama with insane wrestling stunts, and Polite Society is an action-comedy that centered on the art of stunt work.
More stunts on my long list: Creed III, Extraction II, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Kandahar, Sisu
More VFX on my long list: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, John Wick: Chapter 4, M3GAN
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is where my Spotify Top 100 comes in handy. The Air, Barbie, BlackBerry, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Priscilla soundtracks all charted for me this year, which made those votes no-brainers. Asteroid City, Creed III, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and Past Lives all had soundtracks I spent time with as well, and May December’s score almost acts like a narrator, adding comedic and dramatic punch when needed.
More music on my long list: Creed III, A Good Person, The Iron Claw, The Killer, Killers of the Flower Moon, Leave the World Behind, Maestro, Oppenheimer, Wish
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These come down to wow(!) factor, and the categories were some of the hardest to rank. I voted for Priscilla for Costume Design in the final round because I hoped that movie would win something, but to be honest, I adored the costumes in Barbie and Killers of the Flower Moon, too. Same with Production Design: I picked Asteroid City, but it's a three-way tie between Asteroid City, Barbie, and Killers for me.
More editing on my long list: Barbie, BlackBerry, The Iron Claw, Leave the World Behind, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, Missing, Oppenheimer
More cinematography on my long list: The Iron Claw, John Wick: Chapter 4, Killers of the Flower Moon, Leave the World Behind, May December
More costumes on my long list: Asteroid City, The Boys in the Boat, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Oppenheimer
More production design on my long list: The Boys in the Boat, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, The Iron Claw, The Killer, Maestro, Oppenheimer, Sisu
Tumblr media
I saved Best Scene for last when picking my nominations since I'm better at remembering how a movie makes feel as a whole than its scenes. I started thinking through my favorite movies of the year, and these moments were the ones that left the biggest impressions (more wow factor!). Barbie’s scene of tricking the Kens made me laugh so hard I cried, but I happily voted for America Ferrera’s monologue in the end since it just made me cry, period.
More scenes on my long list: Killers of the Flower Moon, lots of choices!, Maestro, lots of choices!, May December, hot dogs; Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, the train falling; Past Lives, bar conversation

𝐓𝐀𝐆 𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐄 𝐏𝐄𝐎𝐏𝐋𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔'𝐃 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑!
Tumblr media
𝐅𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐑(𝐒): Seaglass blues and greens ; summer grass green. Blues and greens in general.
𝐅𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐑(𝐒): I like spicy / savory foods a lot. I enjoy food a lot and don't have a ton of food aversions - so I enjoy everything from time to time and like variety rather a lot. Also, I like lemons. Both the writing kind and the flavor.
𝐅𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐂: I am one of those odd ones that really likes at least a handful of things from every genre. I have pretty eclectic taste in music though if I had to pick one genre it would probably be Gaelic/Celtic folk? Or more modern folk music? I like showtunes a lot, too and 00's rock / punk rock. But a little bit of everything (all of the time). I haven't gotten much of a start on my 2024 playlist, but here's 2023's.
𝐅𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐕𝐈𝐄(𝐒): Moulin Rouge! (2001), Thumbelina (1994), Cinderella (2015), Big Fish (2003), Patch Adams (1998), The Pebble and the Penguin (1995), The Last Unicorn (1982), Lord of the Rings (2001-), Hunger Games (2012-), Howl's Moving Castle (2004), basically all of Ghibli tbh, Elemental (2023). Honorable Mentions: Les Miserables, Moana, Matilda, Robin Hood, Princess and the Goblin, Onward, How to Train Your Dragon, Love Simon, Red White & Royal Blue, The Greatest Showman, The Little Mermaid, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Labyrinth, The Princess Bride, Maleficent + many, many more...
𝐅𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒: I don't have a current favorite, if I'm being honest? Things I've enjoyed in the past: Many anime/Ghibli as a wee one, Disney, Harry Potter way way back when, Lord of the Rings, X-Men: Evolution, Dexter, Game of Thrones, Reign, LOST, Supernatural (RIP), Our Flag Means Death, Good Omens (still only seen s1), Sense8, Doctor Who, YOU, Anne With an E, Yuuri!!! On Ice, The Walking Dead, Glee, and probably many more that I'm forgetting to be honest.
𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐆: Get in the Water (Morgan Clae cover) I am OBSESSED. Big sea god Westley vibes.:)
𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒: Hmm...Our Flag Means Death? I have seen every episode but the last with Havu and have started a rewatch with Nonny.
𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐌𝐎𝐕𝐈𝐄: I binged the Lord of the Rings trilogy last weekend. :) Most of the movies I watch are comfort and feel good movies with Nonny though. I really enjoy our movie nights and it's something we've been doing since the early days of our friendship. Sharing media both ways with loved ones is a love language for me.
𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆: I recently finished the Rise of the Empress series, which I highly recommend. I am tentatively about to start the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I'm trying to ease myself back into reading after a rough year without putting too much pressure on it. ♡
𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆: Started The Great with @smokedanced Thanksgiving week but we've not watched in some time and should pick that up soon! I've had a hard time consuming most media this year which is a crying shame.
𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐍: Not losing my mind? Hehe. Um, honestly just getting organized in life and getting through this little bit of a hard spell. I've been writing a lot with Nonny and not doing a whole lot else other than adulting and managing my illnesses as best as I can lately. But I hope to work toward being more active here again soon. :) ♡

Tag 9 people you want to get to know better
I was tagged by @kissporsche 💕💕 which made me really happy because a few months ago they initiated a conversation with me and I was too much of an introvert to keep it going, so I had thought then that I had lost my chance at friendship forever 🥲
Three Ships
The (un)holy trinity: Hannigram (from Hannibal), Jongmoon (from Strangers From Hell) and VegasPete (from KinnPorsche).
First Ever Ship
It's hard to pinpoint the exact pair... Hmm... I'll tell you about the first one I remember being obsessed about, as in reading all the fics available about them-obsessed. I was eleven? Twelve? Anyway. That would be Cato and Clove, from The Hunger Games. They were not canon in the book (or the movie! They were done SO dirty in the movie!!! I CAN'T EVEN FIND A GIF OF THEM TOGETHER TO INCLUDE HERE 😤), there were just one (or two?) moments that could be interpreted like that, if you had a wild imagination 😅 Fortunately, at that time, me, and a bunch of other kids who enjoyed the tragedy of it all, read too much into it.
So, while everyone else was discussing the love triangle of the main characters or shipping themselves with Finnick Odair, we were in a dark corner crying and throwing up because of two kids who were raised to become killing machines—the star-crossed lovers from District 2, as we liked to call them.
Last Song
youtube
Keep Asking Me, by Francis Well. It has a feeling similar to Little House On The Hill, so I think of them as sisters.
Last Movie
Cherry Magic: The Movie. I had already forgotten the gifsets I had seen about it, months ago, so everything was a surprise.
[spoiler alert] My favorites scenes were the ones of Adachi and Kurosawa meeting each other's families, even though it seemed like my heart was going to jump out of my chest in both occasions 😀
Currently Reading
Making my way through the PrapaiSky tag on AO3 (meaning I'm reading literally anything and everything that sounds slightly interesting).
Currently Watching
1. GAP. I haven't watched the most recent episode yet, but it seems we're reaching the climax of the story. I'm already dreading the moment I'll have to let go of all my girls (+ Mon's step-father) :(
2. Star & Sky Series. I've finished Star in My Mind, and I'll start Sky in Your Heart (which is the part two? the spin-off?) soon (allegedly. Never trust a 'soon' coming from me).
3. TharnType. Only a few more episodes to go. Absolutely bonkers show.
4. Summer Strike. The healing type that I had been saving for when I needed it most.
5. Beyond Evil. I had been saying for a long time that I was going to rewatch BE, but never got around to do it (16 episodes! Who has the time!!). My brother was browsing Netflix looking for something for us to watch together, and suggested BE. I thought he was joking (he has already rewatched it 5 or 6 times by himself 🙃), so I agreed, also joking. Turns out, he wasn't joking 😀😀 So now we're watching it again (*in my first time, I watched it with him as well). It's been a really different experience, watching it from the perspective of someone who knows what they should be paying attention to (I wish I had forgotten the details so I could enjoy the unpredictable mystery again, but it seems I still remember most of it 😅) .
Currently Consuming
Crackers.
Currently Craving
Eight (or more) hours of sleep. No waking up because of freezing temperatures, bad dreams, or the men working on a new floor for my neighbour's house in the early hours of the morning.
... I haven't had one of those in a while 😞
Tagging
Since it's people I'd like to get to know better, I'll tag the blogs I started following more recently: @saturnskyline @leporschespam @ronandhermy @teakrush @stillqueerstillhere (it's absolutely okay to ignore this, though 😊✌)
**If there aren't 9 it's because I'm bad at math.

Harry Potter: Hunger Games Edition
Warnings: Lots of death. Okay so I recently rewatched the Hunger Games movies for the 100th time. I was inspired and wanted to try something new. I decided to mix two of my favorite series and see how it comes out. If you absolutely hated this, please let me know and I won't do another this. But if you did enjoy this, please let me know as well. I can write some other ones. Enjoy!
60, 59, 58, 57, 56
"Don't you dare step off this platform too early," I whispered to myself. That was the only thought going through my mind right now. If I stepped off too early, I would be blown to bits. I promised myself that I would at least live through the blood bath. I promised my family that as well. I didn't want them to watch me go out like that.
Well the one good thing about stepping off the platform before time was out would be the fact that my death would be painless. I wouldn't even have time to think before my life was over.
I shook my head. I needed a game plan. Where was I going when the time ran out?
My eyes scanned the surrounding areas and I was pleasantly surprised to see that we were surrounded by forest. There was no sign of what lurked in the forest waiting on us to enter. I had watched more than enough Hunger Games to know that it wasn't just a simple forests like he had back at home.
I was originally from District 11 and I grew up in forests similar to these. It would seem like I had the upper hand with all the forest knowledge. I liked to think so as well, but I wouldn't know until I got into those woods.
Maybe I could just climb a tree and hangout there for a couple of days. Early in the morning, I could look for anything edible while everyone else was still asleep. This place looked pretty similar to home with the trees and rivers.
I could see that there were fruits hanging from a lot of the trees as well. But the game creators were known for messing up plans like that to ensure no one got the upper hand. I had a feeling that a lot of the things that looked edible were not going to be. I was going to have to be careful. I didn't want to die at the hands of a plant.
37, 36, 35, 34, 33
Do not die.
I shook my head trying to focus myself back on the task at hand. I looked around at the ground trying to decide what would my first move be. There was a dull green backpack that would be perfect for blending in with my surroundings. I would grab that and take off in the opposite direction. I wasn't the fastest person out here, but I sure as hell knew that I wasn't the slowest. As long as I didn't trip over anything, I should be fine.
Do not die.
5, 4, 3, 2, 1
As soon as the timer stopped, I leaped off of it. I snagged the backpack as soon as my feet hit the ground. I lost my bearings for a moment and that moment was all someone needed to take advantage of me.
Before I could take another step, I was tackled to the ground. I rolled over and look up to see a pair of bright green eyes. Those belonged to the boy from District 1. I remembered them from training. He was part of the Career pack.
The Career tributes usually came from the more wealthy districts like 1, 2, and 4. Sometimes they would pick up allies from the outer districts if it would help their chances with winning. They tended to work together throughout the games and then turn on each other at the last minute.
I thought about working with the guy from my district, but he didn't like that idea at all. Maybe I should have pressed a little harder when it came to working with him.
When I looked at him even closer, I noticed a faint lightning shaped scar on his forehead. I wonder how he got that. I'm sure it was a training accident. I know the Career tributes attend special schooling for the Hunger Games. I bet that's how he got it. I realized that his eyes would be the last thing I ever saw. At least they were pretty.
My eyes started to tear up. I managed to pull my arms from under his body and wipe my tears away. I would not give him the pleasure of seeing me cry. I just hope he did it quickly. The Careers weren't known for quick deaths, but maybe he would show me mercy since I wasn't really a threat.
Eventually he got up off me. I laid there for a moment not sure what was going on. He held out a hand as if he wanted to help me up. I cautiously took it and allowed him to help me to my feet. It wasn't that hard for him since I was a lot smaller than him.
"So you're not going to kill me?" I asked brushing myself off. I looked around wondering if I would be able to run away. I knew I was much faster than him. But looking at the weapons that him and his friends had, they could easily kill me from a distance. They were trained with spears and knives. I figured at the moment, I should take my chances with them. I wasn't ready to die.
"No. Not yet anyways." He shook his head, messy black hair swaying. I felt my cheeks warming up looking at him. He was extremely attractive, but now was not the time I shouldn't be thinking about this.
Someone started running in our direction with knives at the ready. It looked to the pair from District 9. I felt myself inching closer to stand behind Harry. He would protect me, right? Harry casually picked up an ax at his feet and waited for the two to get close to us. He threw the ax at the girl's chest when they had gotten into range.
The boy stood there in shock. I don't know what he was expecting approaching a Career tribute. He swiftly pulled the ax out of the girl and swung it across the boy's neck cleanly taking his head off. His blood sprayed across me and I screamed.
"Calm down. They're both dead and it's just blood. You're not going to last long if you don't get used to that. Anyway, I noticed that you received an 8 on your training score. And from watching you during training, we know that you have extensive knowledge of being in areas like that. So for our survival and for yours as well, we are going to need your help." He reached down and scooped up the green backpack and handed it over to me. I had completely forgotten about it. "I think you're going to need this." He gave me a small smile and began walking back over to his group of friends that were still killing and scavenging through the supplies that had been left.
I turned around and realized none of them were paying attention to me. Maybe I could run away without anyone noticing me.
Do not die.
Then I realized that one of the girls was holding a bow and arrow. She could easily pick me off if she wanted. And then one of the guys was holding a spear which he could easily kill me with as well. I don't think either of them would immediately kill me. They would do enough damage so that I couldn't run away, and then they would kill me brutally.
I was honestly thinking about taking my chances running, but the guy with the bright green eyes had this look on his face as if he was daring me to try to run away. I saw the ease in which he killed that pair. It didn't take much effort from him to do it. He could've easily killed me a couple of moments ago, but he didn't and I should therefore be grateful.
I slowly walked over to the Career pack waiting on them to give me orders. They were having a heated conversation amongst themselves. It was clear that the boy from 1 was in charge.
The smallest girl had another few inches on me and maybe 30 pounds. It wasn't fair. They spent their whole lives preparing for this moment.
"So what's your name?" A tall boy with dark hair and skin smiled down at me. He had a nice smile. This was Dean Thomas from District 2. All of this seemed so surreal. If I had been watching these games at home, I would've betted money on him winning.
He would kill someone like me without even thinking about it. And here we were introducing ourselves as if it was the first day of school. I honestly felt like if we had gone to school together, we would have been friends.
"Harry thought it would be a good idea to keep you around." I could hear the Capitol accent rolling off his tongue. They sounded a little funny to me. If I had to guess, his family was originally from the Capitol, but they ended up moving away to District 2. I'm sure his dad was in charge of the Peacekeeper training academy.
"I'm (y/n)." I swallowed trying to sound a lot less intimidated than I felt. I noticed the girls eyeing me as if they hated the idea that the boys were paying more attention to me.
"Nice to meet you (y/n). I'm Dean Thomas and I'm from District 2. This is Luna, she's from my district. Cedric and Cho are from 4. You've already met Harry and that is his partner, Ginny." I smiled a little at all of them as Dean pointed to each one. Everyone smiled back besides Ginny.
Looking at the group of them, I instantly felt threatened by Ginny. She was absolutely stunning, but she had this evil gleam in her eye that I felt like never left her face. I could tell that she was eyeing me, but I was no threat at all. She could kill me without even breaking a nail.
I stood in the back of the group listening to them talk about where they should go first and where the other tributes could be hiding. I just stood there not giving any input, they had trained for this their whole lives. I had no idea where to even begin. I had just planned on hiding in a tree until I got hungry. They actually had a strategy.
I didn't want to interrupt their strategic talk so I just trailed behind. The weird thing was, I didn't even consider running away. I felt somewhat safe at the moment with them. I didn't think that Dean or Harry would let them kill me.
I watched as Ginny reached for some berries and I figured they were fine. That was until I saw the dark red dot on the bottom on it. I considered letting her eat them, but I knew the group would blame me.
"Wait. Don't don't eat those. They're poisonous." I yelped lunging towards Ginny to slap the berries out of her hand. I was completely aware that everyone's attention was on me. She glared at me as if she didn't really believe me. Why would I lie about that?
"She's right Ginny." Cho plucked a berry off the bush and squished them between her fingers. "I didn't spend much time in the survival section but I do remember these. I remembered because they're the same color as a rug my mother has. I hate that damn rug. At first you'll feel like you have a slight fever and once the chills start, it's too late for you. I doubt any of the sponsors would start sending in the good stuff to help you."
"You just earned yourself another day to live." Harry grinned and threw his arm around my frail shoulders. I tried to smile back at him, but I'm sure it looked more like a grimace. Cho smiled at me as well and I tried to ignore the glares that Ginny was giving me. I hadn't done anything wrong.
Over the course of the afternoon, I helped the Careers set up a few traps to catch a couple the wild animals. There was a little stream that we caught some fish in. If I had been traveling on my own, there was no way I would start a fire, but they didn't seem to mind at all. We had a nice dinner of fish, wild potatoes, and berries.
I hated to admit it, but I didn't trust that they wouldn't kill me in my sleep. I know that they needed me to survive but I wouldn't put it past them. After the learned what was poisonous and what wasn't, they didn't really need me anymore.
I came to the decision that if it came to a vote, everyone would vote to kill me besides Harry. I put my backpack under my head and acted like I was asleep so I could listen to the other conversations going on. A couple of them were still awake talking about the game plan for tomorrow.
"Why are you trying to keep her alive?" I heard Ginny angrily whisper to Harry. I didn't know much about relationships, but she sounded jealous. She had no reason to be jealous of me. Did she forget that we were in the Hunger Games? Only one of us is making it out of here alive.
"Well Gin." I heard him answer. "If she wasn't with us, you'd be dead right now. I don't think Cho would have caught that berry in time."
"I know Harry, but wouldn't it be easier to kill her now? She seems like an underdog that could actually win this thing. I hate an underdog story."
"I know you do, but we really need her. Look at all the food we've gotten to eat today. All of that was because of her. You'd be dead and the rest of us would either be starving or have eaten some of those berries as well."
"Fine Harry." She let out a small sigh. "I'll let her live for now, but I want to be the one that kills her."
"I'm not letting you do that. You would make it horrible. Either Dean or I will do it. We'll snap her neck or something when she isn't expecting it. Why do you want to kill her so bad?"
"I can shoot an arrow through her brain. That would be pretty painless." Ginny suggested. "I don't like the way she looks at you."
"But she'd know it was coming. Stop this Ginny. You're not going to kill her if I have anything to say about it." He snapped causing her to instantly quiet down. After about twenty minutes or so, I heard Harry whisper out to me, "(y/n)? Are you awake?"
"Yeah." I slowly rolled over trying not to disturb anyone. I looked over at him to see Ginny asleep with her head in his lap. He was playing with her long red hair. I guess there was some sort of relationship brewing between them. I hope the two of them weren't together when the games started.
"You don't have to worry about her (y/n). I won't let her kill you. Neither Dean not I will be snapping your neck either. When we get down a couple more members, I'll let you know so you can leave. I know Ginny will want to track you down, but I should be able to convince her to leave you alone."
The numbers seemed to dwindle down pretty quickly. I'm assuming it was because the other tributes didn't know what was berries were safe to eat and which ones were poisonous. There had been a large flood that wiped out most of the remaining competitors. It took our a lot of our supplies and killed Cedric. Apparently he never learned how to swim.
One night I was sitting up with Harry, Ginny and Dean. We were talking about how different all our home lives were. Everyone had fallen asleep and I looked up at the sky watching all the fallen tributes. There were 7 people left including our little pack.
"You can leave now." Harry whispered in my general direction. I found his bright green eyes piercing through the dark. "There's only seven of us left now. I think it's time for you to go."
I nodded and began packing up my backpack. Before I could stand up and leave, Harry reached out and grabbed my hand. I looked at him startled as he stood up beside me. He gently pulled me up to stand beside him.
"If you don't make it out of here, and I do, I will make sure to visit your family. I'll do whatever I can to support yours. If you make it to the end of this thing, and I don't, make sure you visit mine. My friends back home would love you." I nodded as he leaned down and kissed me. I was so surprised I didn't close my eyes at first, but after a second I allowed myself to enjoy the moment. He wasn't my first kiss, but it was one of the best kisses I had ever had.
"What was that for?" I giggled.
"I shouldn't have done that." Harry chuckled stepping away from me. It was dark but I could see a faint blush on his cheeks.
"Please don't regret that. It was nice." I finally said after a moment. If that was going to be the last time I was ever kissed then so be it. "It's good to know that there are still good people in this world like you."
I kissed him on the cheek and began to walk away. The weird thing was, I was seriously going to miss him. We would have gotten along well if we had met in a different life. This whole group of people made me think differently about Career tributes. They were humans just like the rest of us.
That night I ended up falling asleep in a tree. I stayed there for the next two days. I would crawl down every now and then to eat and relieve myself. Then I would quickly scamper back up before anyone noticed me.
One day I woke up from an afternoon nap and heard someone stomping towards me. They weren't trying to be quiet at all. Looking at out of the tree, I saw Ginny marching around under the tree I was in. She was angry.
"I know you're up there (y/n)." She called. "I'm afraid Harry won't be coming to save you this time. Those berries you saved me from? I mashed them up in his breakfast yesterday morning. I've killed everyone else. It's just you and me sweetheart. If you come down, I'll make your death painless. But if you decide to stay up there, I'm going to give the viewers a show."
"Don't you have arrows?" I called back down to her. I was hoping this would distract her for a while and give me some time to think. "Why don't you just shoot me?"
"Why aren't you a smart cookie?" She chuckled notching an arrow in the bow. She aimed and shot her arrow right me. I giggled, there was no way she was going to be hit me with all these branches in the way. One did end up landing pretty close to me. I snatched it out of my tree and made my way down the tree until I was a lot closer to her.
Do not die.
If this didn't work, she would be able to easily kill me. I held the arrow behind my back and walked towards her as if I had given up. She dropped the bow and pulled a knife out of her pocket. She had clearly been waiting on this moment.
"I did say that this was going to be pretty painless, but I've changed my mind. You kissed Harry and I don't appreciate that. I let you live so you could go and kiss him?"
"But didn't you kill him?" I took a couple more steps towards her.
"Oh yes." She giggled, "I had to do what needed to be done. But now I'm going to make you regret-" she started but before she could even finish her thought, I lunged forward and shoved the arrow through her neck.
She really should talk less.
Her knife fell from her hand and she dropped to her knees as blood began trickling out of her parted lips. I pulled the arrow out and grabbed the knife that she had dropped. I stabbed it through her heart hoping to end her suffering.
A cannon went off signaling her death. Then for the first time this whole competition, I cried.
Hey, so I really hope you guys enjoyed this. Like I said at the beginning, if you hated this (I promise I won't be upset if you do), please tell me. I just wanted to try something new. But if you did like this, let me know if you want me to continue writing these for the other guys.

Hello you mrs. mango eater iced coffee drinker bread lover honey nut cheerio lefty eyebag princess😅
Hm so with my second account, it follows the same blogs I follow in the first one. I don't really know how to just follow certain blogs for each account lol cause I tried to see if I can follow people with my second account name but I can't 🤔
But yeah 😁 it is like incorrect quotes, and right now it's mostly focused around Wanda hahaha I am making it mostly funny because I really don't know how to write anything else. I suck at writing things in detail.
Ah I know what you mean. My best friend is the same way, she is constantly cleaning or just playing with her daughter. I think she will have a hard time when my niece goes to preschool soon lol
I say get drunk! It's the end of the year, let go of it ahahaha let go by getting drunk then having a really bad hangover the next day. Hm, maybe I won't give you my other tumblr name, I don't wanna get weird drunk text from you 😂 just kidding
Okay, I'll see if I can find the movie in the store or stream it somewhere 🤔 I am the same way, I hate when people talk to me during the movie. But if I am at home, I always pause the movie so I can make comments lol
I usually don't mind gory movies. I get iffy though when they show something being done to the characters skin or nails. Hahaha! Thats exactly why I can't watch filipino scary movies. I feel like the ghosts or supernatural stuff are actually there and will haunt me.
Hm I don't know either. I never pay attention to ratings until after I watch the movie. Oh actually there is one that people loved but I hate it because it was so bad. It's the cabin in the woods. It's supposed to be scary, but the whole time I was watching it, I kept going what the eff. 😂
Ok, last question for the night. 3 movies or shows that awaken your sexuality or was your sexual awakening. I hope the question made sense.
-CuriousGeorge
Hi hi righty eyebag!
Wow, that was a long nickname plus the princess nickname at the end..😁🤭
Ah i see. So it means ur second account follows mine..i wonder which none is u 🤔 hahahah.
I love incorrect quotes! Some of them can make me really laugh out loud..😅😆 n how they make y/n sometimes stupid but funny n how wanda or nat very patient with y/n. I love it!
Hahaha okay, it's understandable that u dont wanna give me ur tumblr because of not wanting to get drunk text from me. 🤣🤣🤣
Im.not sure if i wanna get drunk. The last time i got drunk, i shared a big bottle of vodka with him n other cocktails, i got so drunk n i felt like shit the next morning.. 🤣
Hahah yeah pls find it n let me know what u think about Knives Out.
Well, that's not fun either if u keep stopping the movie to comment. Just kidding.😆 at least it's bettter than miss the movie because someone is talking. It's still very thoughtful of u.
I will talk in the movie sometimea if we rewatch a movie n the other person already watched it too.
Im like that too with indonesian ghost movie.. i think asian ghosts r described a little more eerily weird.hahaha. n they look scary.
Ah i see.i never really remember movies that i regret watching that people love it.
Oh oh! I remember! I watched Hunger Games Mocking Birds with my friends n they all were excited about it. But i fell asleep watching it.😅 a movie thats called Yesterday also got me bored like hell that i have to stop watching it not even half of movie. The most recent bad movies i watch that people seems to love it is the latest Jurassic Park movies. I even feel like almost 3 hours of my life was wasted 😅 it's just my opinion though, i hv nothing agaisnt the fans of that movie.
Hmm 3 movies that was my gay awakening
1. The Mummy Returns (Rachelle Weisz was sooo hot in it)
2. I Can't Think Straight (the story is quite similar with my story with my ex-gf)
3. Kyss Mig or Kiss me (it's a sweden movie but good story in it.)
4. Iron Man 2 (when Natasha first appeared in MCU)
Whats urs?
Next question
Cheerio!

Continuing my Monday Philm watch of The Hunger Games this week with Mockingjay: Part 1 (2014)!
I love that, unlike the books, the movies show a wider perspective than just Katniss’s. It just makes sense to do that when adapting a book to the screen, so of course they did, but it’s really great. Some of those scenes with Snow and his people in the Capitol are the best in the whole film. A lot of enjoyable performances by incredible actors but on this watch, I realized Sam Claflin Is perfectly cast — his work as Finnick brings this gravity and desperation and numbness to every scene he’s in.
(Side note: the albums for all of the THG movies slap. The first movie’s is one of the first albums I can remember really falling in love with as a teenager and listening to it now is so... nostalgic. I’ve only listened to the Catching Fire and Mockingjay albums more recently but they slap!!!)
Reading the books a few weeks ago, I was struck by how funny and lighthearted Plutarch is — partly because I didn’t remember Phil’s portrayal being so goofy. But on a rewatch, it comes out a lot more in a subtle sort of way. A lot livelier than in Catching Fire. Plutarch is still the most positive thinker in 13 — perhaps it’s because he’s sheltered, but he’s so optimistic (until he’s faced with the possibility of actual death during the bombings, in which case he quiets down for a bit). He’s so smirky, and even though he lectures Effie on adjusting to life in District 13, he’s probably closer to her position and discomfort than he is to anyone else’s situation in those bunkers. I really love their scenes together, it’s so easy to tell they’ve known each other for years and the Capitol party banter between those two must’ve been incredible.
I always have to replay the “you’ve just been in BATTLE” scene a dozen times and it makes me laugh uncontrollably every time... love that glimpse at PSH the director LMAO!
Since this was my first time watching MJ1 all the way through since I first saw it (aka before I was a PSH Stan™), it was also the first time I was keeping an eye out for his missing/altered scenes. The scene when Effie gives Katniss the Mockingjay costume designs from Cinna was supposed to be Plutarch. I knew that, but it really hit me when she said the line about missing coffee — in the back of my mind I’d been wondering why they never included that little part of his character from the book in the films, and then I realized they did, but. It was really sad, just knowing they filmed it and were talking about his character after Philip’s death. And knowing that one of these scenes was likely the last thing he ever filmed, sweet boy. I also wonder if, like in the book, Plutarch was supposed to be in the post-bombing scene when they go outside to record propos among the white roses. Very few title cards hurt more than that last one (and still jarring after all these years).
To end on a positive note, this is just such a sweet performance. All the little details Phil put into this role — his notebook (which Julianne Moore said he was always writing in), the way he mouths along to Coin’s last speech that he very obviously wrote, when he wipes a tear away (after hearing the speech that he very obviously wrote). “I’m optimistic,” with his little smile. The same care and depth he put into every role. It was about a year ago, while watching his first scene (“People don’t always show up the way you want them to.”), that I texted my best friend that this Philip Seymour Hoffman guy was kinda cute. It’s really only gotten better since then.

Art of Aardman
Tumblr media
I found myself a cheap copy of the Shaun the Sheep movie, so I was rewatching a bunch of Aardman films earlier this month and decided to hunt down some books too. For anyone that doesn’t know, Aardman is a British stop-motion studio that does fantastic work like Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, Chicken Run, Early Man… tons of cool stuff. They’re always quirky and funny and warm-hearted. This was just a very nice art book for anyone that’s a fan of Aardman stop motion and wants to see a bit extra; it shows some cool concept art and blows up the neat details in Aardman work, especially in their intricate stuff like The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists!
Asterix and the Picts (Asterix and the Chariot Race, and How Obelix Fell Into The Magic Potion)
Tumblr media
I decided to try a couple of the new Asterix comics that were done by the new team, just to see if they stand up to the old ones (that and How Obelix Fell Into The Magic Potion cause I’d never read that one before). They were pretty decent! Asterix and the Picts was my favourite of the two though I wouldn’t say either are going to contest for my favourite Asterix comic... but still! The art looks good and the stories felt like what I would expect, they made for a pleasant couple evenings of reading especially since it’s been so long since I’ve read a new Asterix comic. If you’ve never read Asterix it’s one of the biggest name French comic series in North America, as far as I know and very worth the read. It’s about a single Gaulish village that’s holding out against the invading Romans through sheer force of will, slapstick hijinks, and a magical super-strength potion brewed by their druid. Lots of fantastic visuals and cute wordplay, even in the English translations.
Bear
Tumblr media
I found out about this bastion of Canadian literature via tumblr post that was losing its collective mind over the fact that some bizarre bear-based erotica novella somehow won the most prestigious literary prize available in Canada. Since I too found this hilarious and unspeakably bizarre I had to give it a read, obviously. And yes, the flat surface level summary is... a librarian moves out into rural Ontario and falls in love with a literal for-real not-supernatural-not-a-joke bear. And I have to say… it is actually worthy of an award, which I was not expecting given that I was there for a laugh. It has beautiful writing, and the subtextual story is pretty interesting… it kind of makes me think of The Haunting of Hill House actually in terms of themes. (Womanhood, personhood, independence, autonomy partially achieved through escaping the male gaze by claiming non-human lovers... listen if I were still in university I would right a paper comparing the two novels).
I dunno man, it’s fucking weird. Actually a well-written book, but sure is about a woman falling in love with a literal bear. Give it a read if you want something bonkers but like… high-brow bonkers.
Hunger Pangs: True Love Bites
Tumblr media
Best book I have read in like… a while. A long while. I am not a fast reader, and I consumed 90% of this book over a weekend. It’s not at all like Terry Pratchett, but at the same time it scratched an itch for me that I haven’t had satisfied since Pratchett’s death. A very clever, hilariously funny poly romance between a disabled werewolf, an anxious vampire lord, and an incredibly powerful woman, with heaps of social satire, political commentary, and sinister undertones. The whole thing reads a bit like fanfiction and I say that in the most flattering way possible -- it is so easy to jump right in and be immediately taken over by the characters and the world and the plot, you never feel like you’re fighting to engage even though the world-building is fascinating and expansive. It welcomes you in right away, it was the book equivalent of a quilt and a hug which is something I sorely needed with all this pandemic bullshit. If you read any of the books on this list, go read that one while I sit here in pain waiting for the sequel.
Kid Paddle
Tumblr media
I watched the cartoon of Kid Paddle as a kid and was thinking about it recently, so I decided to hunt down some of the original comics online. They’re fun and weird, with a cute art style and fantastic monsters designs. (My favourites are always about Kid either daydreaming or playing games that involve Midam’s weird warty troll creatures. It’s like a cross between Calvin and Hobbes and Foxtrot with the fun sort of quirks that I love in Belgian comics. Unfortunately, unlike Asterix, I’ve only come across these ones in French, but if you can read French it’s totally worth popping over to The Internet Archive and reading the ones they have available.
Tumblr media
The Last Firehawk: The Golden Temple
Tumblr media
The lastest Firehawk book. Despite being written for quite young readers, I did enjoy the early books in this series quite a bit. They’re about a young owl and squirrel who found an egg for a magical species that was believed to be extinct. With the newly hatched firehawk, the three of them head off on a mission to find an ancient firehawk magic that could save the entire forest. Very basic adventure story but a good intro to the tropes for children. Unfortunately the quality really feels like it drops with each subsequent book; this will probably be the last one I bother reading.
Lumberjanes: The Moon Is Up
Tumblr media
I honestly think I enjoy these Lumberjanes novels even more than the comics just because it really gives time to delve into each story and examine how the camper are really thinking and feeling about everything. (Also I’m always weak for novelizations of anything.) The Moon Is Up is a book that focuses more on Jo, and takes place during the camp’s much anticipated Galaxy Wars, a competition between cabins that goes over several days. While the campers prepare for these challenges though, they also run into a strange little creature with a penchant for cheese and theft. Roanoke cabin needs to keep ahead in Galaxy Wars and somehow deal with the fearsome Moon Pirates that a closing in...
Lumberjanes v4 (Out Of Time)
Tumblr media
One of the Lumberjanes comics, a cool, girl-focused, queer comic series. Honestly, this is just a fun series that I never got as into as I should have. My advice is honestly to skip book one because it gets better as it continues, and I’ve really been enjoying the later books now that I’ve given it another go. It follows five campers at Miss Qiunzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet’s Camp for Hardcore Lady Types (Jo, April, Molly, Mal, and Ripley) as they handle all sorts of challenges, from friendship to crushes, camp activities to supernatural horrors, getting badges to not being brutally killed. Great if you liked the vibe of Gravity Falls but want it to be queer-er.
Mooncakes
Tumblr media
Another queer graphic novel, but unfortunately not a very good one. It really looked appealing and I had high hopes, but the book itself really didn’t hold up… I actually couldn’t even finish it, the plot was just too… non-existent. The art is fairly mediocre once you actually look at it, especially backgrounds, and it feels very… placid. Not much conflict or excitement or even a very compelling reason to keep reading. If you just want a soft queer supernatural you may get more mileage out of it than me, but it didn’t really do it for me. There’s better queer graphic novels out there.
New Boy In Town
Tumblr media
One of the worst books I have ever read. My girlfriend had ordered a very different book online but through a frankly stupendous error was sent this 1980s pulp romance instead. Absolutely nauseating on levels I couldn’t even begin to enumerate here. Naturally we read the whole thing out loud. Probably took us 10 times longer to finish than it warranted because I had to stop every two sentences to lose my mind. If you like bad decisions, baffling hetero courting rituals, built-in cultural Christianity without actually calling it that, and gold panning then boy howdy is this the book for you.
(seriously, you better have patience for gold-panning if you attempt this one, because I sure learn that I don’t)
Piggies
Tumblr media
This was a picture book I enjoyed as a kid and had a reason to reread recently. Honestly it’s just very cute and simple, and the art is completely mesmerizing. Wonderful if you know a young child that would enjoy a simple goofy boardbook.
Shaun the Sheep: Tales From Mossy Bottom
Tumblr media
Related to my Aardman fascination earlier this month. I tried reading a varieties of Shaun the Sheep books — most of which are mediocre at best — but the Tales From Mossy Bottom Farm series is genuinely good. Just chapter books, of course, but the illustrations match the series’ concept art and each story feels like it could have jumped directly out of an episode. They’re just cute and feel-good! Kinda like Footrot Flats but more for kids, and from the sheep’s perspective moreso than the dog’s.

Metanoia - Chapter Six (f.o)
Summary: you will be crowned victor of the 75th hunger games.
Word Count; 6.2k
Warnings; swearing
NOTES: i give reader a last name to fit the world.
If for whatever reason, you’d ever have to be a spy, you’d be absolutely fantastic at it. Not only are you quiet, but you’re fairly secretive. You’d be good at a job like that, infiltrating the enemies lines and gathering information just to bring it back to the person who wanted it.
Although, you’re not the one doing that right now, it’s Neysa. She’s the one gathering information from others and bringing it to you to assess as you try to work out this now oh-so complicated plan. It’s so bad, that you might even have to go back on your word about double-alliances.
You throw the blankets off of you, slipping off of the bed. You take one glance at the clock to check the time to see that it’s two in the morning, you’re going to be right on time. To wake yourself up a little bit, you go into the bathroom, turning on the sink. You gather a handful of water before splashing it onto your face.
Using the towel to dry off your face, you toss it onto the counter and then head to leave the room. The door opens automatically for you, and the walk through the hallway is short. You can see the silhouette of Neysa’s body standing by the tv in the living room.
One of your ankles pop, which makes her turn to make sure that it’s you. You can see her shoulders sink a little bit, relieved that it is you, and not someone else. She won’t have to explain why she’s standing in front of the tv on low volume at one in the morning.
“So?” you whisper, crossing your arms over your chest.
“Haymitch says that Peeta says no.” Neysa tells you.
“No surprise there, it was worth a shot. Katniss is probably holding him back.” Which is a good thing, your intentions aren’t to be friends with them, if you get in, you can kill them and then get out.
If they both have managed to set history, then that means that they have to be taken out, it’s as simple as that. They shouldn't be allowed to stay alive longer than a couple of days. You know that Brutus is already on edge, you can only imagine how Gloss and Cashmere are.
You three are like a pack of wild wolves.
However, as you four will be working towards the same goal, it’s for different reasons. They’ll likely want to do it so they can get it off their backs and be able to survive without the worry of Katniss or Peeta sneaking up on you guys. As for you, you can’t just settle with being a two-timing victor.
If you can take out both Katniss and Peeta, then the crown would be pure gold. You’d be looked at differently for the rest of your life. People would practically bow at your feet. If you can take down the people that have broken records, then you’re no one to mess with.
And on top of that, you want to take down Finnick too. That’s three fucking kills that would make you a ton more deadly and looked up to. The boy who won at the youngest age, and a pair of tributes from an outsider district that got twelves. Just the thought of having power like that in your palms sends a shiver down your spine.
You’d be a living legend. Infamous, people would know your name for years to come.
(Y/n) Rosecelli. Victor of both the sixty-sixth hunger games and the seventy-fifth Quarter Quell. She went up against twenty-three other tributes and came out a winner on both occasions. On top of that, she also took out three record-breaking victors. One of whom was the youngest victor, ever, Finnick Odair. And the only two tributes who have ever received a twelve, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark.
You can see it all now.
“Well, what about Finnick?”
“Said he’d talk to you in person today.” Neysa says, “Will you tell me your plan now?”
You smile a little bit, “Infiltrate the enemy’s alliance. Wipe them out. Go back to my original alliance. Three simple steps.”
Neysa is thinking, until a smile starts to slowly spread over her face, “Smart girl.”
--
Getting out of bed this time is much harder than it was the first time. You would rather just lay here for a little while longer and stare at the ceiling. For once, this feeling of dread belongs to you and not anyone else. And you have a faint feeling on why.
You’re about to be interrogated to hell by the one person you hate the most in the world. He’s going to ask you why you’ve changed your mind so quickly and if he should be weary of anything. And then he’ll ask if he should even trust you, especially after you made your goal very clear; kill everyone and win.
He won’t be dumb enough to accept blindly, which will be a pain in the ass, but you suppose it could make it more fun as well. Having him look over his shoulder, keeping one eye open when he sleeps. Always anticipating your next move.
Why not play with your prey a little bit?
The dread is replaced by your own enthusiasm. You pull yourself out of bed, going to the bathroom to take a shower. The water is burning hot on your skin as you scrub yourself clean with nice smelling soaps. You allow yourself to wash your hair today, since you’ll need to be looking your absolute best today for the interview. Greasy hair isn’t the best quality to have.
When you’re done, you scrunch your hair in one towel, while drying your body with another one. You pull on comfortable clothes since you’ll be changing soon anyway, and go back to your hair immediately after. With a few detangling sprays, the brush goes through your hair as if there were no knots to begin with.
You squeeze out any excess water into the sink. You look as good as you’re going to for now, and you practically skip your way out into the dining room. Only Neysa sits there, coffee mug in her hand. The avox is by the table with food.
“Coffee,” you tell her, she nods and moves into the kitchen to grab it, “Room for creamer, please.”
You take your seat across from Neysa, loading up your plate without a word to her. You begin on a roll, occasionally dipping it into your stew. Every movement feels as if you’re in a hurry. You have to slow yourself down considerably, giving yourself a time limit for when you can take another bite.
When the avox comes over with the coffee the way you like it, you thank her. They’re human as much as you are. If there’s one thing you’re not fond of in the Capitol, it’s the way they use district people as servants for something they’ve done. No matter how bad, they don’t deserve to be treated like that. Not to mention, there are much worse jobs than this for them to take, too.
Actually, the avoxes aren’t the ones picking them out, it’s the officials that run all that for Snow. They’re the ones assigning people based on what they think they’d be good at. Hell, you think that some avoxes aren’t even people from the districts, that it’s people from the Capitol too. Which is weird, considering that the Capitol is supposed to be the favorite.
“Amias will be coming up in thirty minutes to get you.” Neysa says, “Eat quickly, just don’t make yourself sick.”
“Sure.” you say, resuming the pace that you had been going originally.
It’s only ten minutes later when Edmond is coming into the room. He hesitates by the doorway, and then he cautiously takes his seat at the table. Five minutes after that, Brutus is bounding into the room without a care in the world, also taking a seat. The only person that is missing is Theo, thank god.
You’re glad that you haven’t been forced to listen to his fucking voice, it’s an absolute nightmare to deal with.
Once you’re done eating, you ask for another cup of coffee while you wait out the last ten minutes. Today is going to fly by as if it’s not actually happening. It’s the last day of ‘peace and quiet’ before tomorrow, the beginning of the games. It’s like sitting on the edge of your seat.
There’s literally endless possibilities on what the arena will look like tomorrow. You haven’t got a single clue on what it might be. All you do know is that it’s going to be special and deceiving. It’s how the last Quarter Quell went with Haymitch. While you were rewatching the games, they included Haymitch’s games.
Your only guess as to why is because it’s the most recent Quell. They’re throwing you a bone of sorts. Let you know that it’s going to be hell from start to finish. Things are not going to be what they seem.
The landscape was beautiful, the animals, the air, the water, the land. All of it was something out of a dream, it looked like. Until dream turned to nightmare, when the animals turned out to be rabid, and the arena was nowhere near friendly. And that was the year there were forty-eight tributes instead of twenty-four. Not only were the tributes doubled, but everything inside of the arena was working against them.
Haymitch had gotten lucky when he won. His stomach was spilling out of his body, he was quite literally holding it in. As for the girl he had gone up against, she was missing an eye. Blood was running down her face as if it was a new established river. The both of them should have been dead, but one of them threw their weapon over the cliff. It hit the forcefield, and came right back at the girl, nailing her in the forehead.
It’s the only reason why Haymitch had won. He realized that the forcefield was there early on into the games. Utilized it and stuck by the cliff for the rest of them. The girl was just unlucky that she was still standing there when the weapon came firing back.
The sound of an opening door makes you glance over your shoulder. And just like Neysa had promised, Amias stands at the door, “Ready to go?”
You finish off the rest of the caffeine, you now know why Neysa has been so adamant when it comes to drinking this stuff, it really does keep you energized. You set the mug back down before skipping down the steps to Amias.
“Ready as I’ll ever be.”
She opens the door for you, but doesn’t follow you out just yet, “Brutus, be down there in at least three hours from now, showered.”
“Got it.”
Amias closes the door after that, and the two of you head over to the elevator. She takes care of pressing the buttons, bringing you guys down to the floor where you need to be.
“What’s the plan for tonight?”
“Get you dolled up so you can make an impression on sponsors.” Amias says.
You roll your eyes, “No shit. What am I going to look like?”
“You’ll see.”
Resisting the urge to get snotty with her, you lace your fingers together and stare straight ahead. The elevator doors open, and she takes the lead, bringing you through the hallways. It’s not as empty as it usually is, there are a few people walking around already.
They look like Capitol citizens, so your best guess is that they’re prep teams and stylists. Although, the stylists typically treat the prep teams like they’re under their boots, so the prep teams run the most errands while the stylists sit back and do anything else. The stylists’ jobs are more important though, so it’s no surprise.
Anyway, that doesn’t really matter.
Amias brings you into the room where you had been for the tribute parade. The two guys are already waiting by the chair, looking at you skeptically, until the one that normally does your hair, perks up considerably.
“You washed your hair! Good, did you use all the products they had?” he asks, coming over to feel.
“I thought I’d leave the aftercare to you guys, since I don’t really mess around with that type of stuff.”
“Good decision.” he says, then he looks at Amias, “We’ll let you know when she’s ready for the outfit.”
“I’ll be back soon, (Y/n)” Amias says, leaving the room.
You’re directed to the chair, and the one who does your hair doesn’t really hesitate with getting to work. The other one sits back for now, rummaging through all the makeup that they have on the vanity. He’ll open a pallet, look over it, and then set it back onto the stack that just seems to grow taller and taller.
You watch patiently as your hair is messed with. He starts off with blow drying it, which takes a pretty long time since he’s not using the hot air. He’s got plenty of time to mess around and do what he wants. He leaves it fairly damp, coats his hands in product, and then spreads it through your hair. He doesn’t bother brushing your hair before moving on to the next product.
The hair and makeup are probably going to take forever, which is why Amias slipped out of the room. The tribute parade outfit didn’t take nearly as long or had a hassle like this, because it wasn’t as important. People can hardly see you when you’re on the chariots anyway, since you’re so distanced.
As for the interviews, people are going to see you up close and personal. Every detail that is fucked up will be critiqued harshly, which leads to bad publicity. It takes away sponsors, it dissipates Amias’s good reputation, and suddenly you’re not a favorite anymore.
You just want to get through with getting ready, so you can skip to the part where you’re standing in front of Finnick. You’re quite curious about what he might say now. How he’ll handle everything, and if he’ll take you up on the offer.
Neysa was sure to specify that you wanted both Mags and Finnick as allies, but only to mention it to Finnick so he could make the decision. You were hoping that you wouldn’t have to talk to him face to face, and have the mentors communicate for you guys, but it will be easier to convince him. Maybe you can even play innocent, apologize and say it’s one big act.
As if he or anyone else would believe that now. They know who you are, they know how you won your games. The only thing that you’re genuinely good at--besides everything else that you’re good at--is the fact that you’re deceiving. But you can’t be deceiving to an audience that already knows your plans.
You can sure as hell try, but that will tear away all the work you’ve made. Sponsors will likely go down the toilet. And honestly, since you depend on sponsors to get you by--and you’ll definitely be doing that this year because of the arena--then you can’t really give that up.
Wasn’t a good plan anyway.
You watch as your hair is parted into two, the top half, and the bottom half. The top part starts at your temples, and he pulls it into one ponytail at the back of your head. He then pulls out a ton of bobby pins, beginning to pin a bun in place. When he’s done with that, he pulls some hair out in front to frame your face before using hairspray to keep the top half in place.
He moves onto the bottom, making your hair into loose curls. After each section, he’ll use more hairspray and then move onto the next. This is when the makeup guy finally comes in, getting to work.
You close your eyes to make it easier for him, knowing that you probably won’t be able to see yourself in the mirror in a while anyway, “What time is it?”
“Only two or three hours before interviews start.”
“That doesn’t answer my question.”
“Half past one.” the one doing your hair answers, “I’ll be done with your hair soon, and then go and get Amias while you eat something.”
You can’t believe that time has flown that fast. You’d be super surprised, but you did get out of bed by nine, which is pretty late considering all the early starts you’ve been getting lately. Amias more or less threw you a bone by letting you get up that late.
Brutus is lucky that he doesn’t have to go through as much as you do. He doesn’t even have hair to be messed with.
“Did you see the scores last night?”
“Of course I did, can you believe it?”
“Are you going to sponsor either of them?”
“Are you stupid?” he asks, and then pauses to think, “They’re going to be dead within the first day.”
“Who do you think would be dumb enough to go after them?”
“Me.” you laugh.
“Well--” the one doing your makeup sounds like he doesn’t believe it, “You’d really go after Katniss and Peeta?”
“They’re not that good.” the hair guy says, “Especially not Peeta.”
“I wouldn’t say that.”
Hair guy laughs, “You only like them because of their love story. Plus, they’re a couple of teenagers, they may be youthful, but they don’t have that much experience.”
“Who do you think that they’re allied with?”
“After we saw what Katniss did last year--probably Mags. I mean, can you really see her with anyone else? She chose a child as an ally and skipped over Peeta entirely.”
“I guess you have a point.”
They’re not wrong, Katniss did get with a child, and you saw her around Wiress and Beetee the first day. And then later on with Mags at the fishhook station. You think that was just before she went to the bow and arrow station. You can hardly remember it because you were still training with the idiot in body armor.
He wasn’t very good at his job.
Anyway, if Katniss is paired with Mags, then that inadvertently pairs her with Finnick too. Which then drags Peeta into that mess as well. It makes sense for them, but you wonder how Johanna and Blight pair into all of this…
Finnick could have very well been acting like that to throw you off his trail, though. So you should take all this information with a grain of salt. Finnick is a good liar, you’ve seen him in action quite a lot since volunteering.
But if Johanna and Blight are in this, then that would mean that Peeta brought them in. He seems to have more sense than Katniss does. She chooses the weaker people--people who can’t really fight back if she wants to overpower them. And she doesn’t seem to do that because she does plan to fight them later on, it’s because she wants to look over them.
As for Peeta, he paired with the careers. He’s smart, getting with people that can protect him. When he had first come in with Katniss, his first place to go to was Brutus, Cashmere and Gloss. Then Johanna, and later you during lunch. Like he was trying to set down a base with you guys on purpose.
Well, they did what they had to do. They knew none of you, unlike you guys. You’ve heard about and known each other for years. They’re new to this whole victor thing. It’s a shame that they won’t live to be able to see the rest of it.
They finish hair and makeup at around the same time. You’re given food that isn’t messy and would mess up your makeup--even though he had sprayed a ton of setting spray to keep it all in place. You eat enough, leaving yourself slightly hungry so that you won’t feel nauseous on stage.
Amias comes in ten minutes later with the hair guy. In her hands is a dress-length bag that’s concealing it from sight. Hair guy pulls out a moving closet that’s just a few metal poles on wheels. She hooks the hanger on, and then unzips the bag.
Your mouth falls open, “Jeez.”
Amias looks at you, “Do not disappoint on stage tonight. This is the best dress I have.”
You give her a look, “As if I ever disappoint.”
“Spray some of that glitter in her hair again,” she tells the hair guy, “She’ll need it tonight.”
Your face is covered with what looks like cardboard, while the hairspray is added. Amias pulls the dress out of the bag, there is no zipper, the back is open enough to the point where you can just step in. They hold your hands and arms while you step in, then they pull it up and over your body.
It’s a mermaid dress, the type that’s skin-tight at the top but flows at the knees. This one is a little looser though, allowing you to move without problem. It’s silky on the inside, but a little rough on the outside because of the glitter. When you rub it and take a look at your hands, nothing transferred.
The dress is held up by spaghetti straps that cross in the back to make an x. There is no plunge, it dips a little to show off cleavage, but that’s where the line is drawn.
“Grab her the white heel-less shoes.” Amias says, she pulls out Tanith’s necklace, putting it on for you.
They bring over a pair of shoes that look basically the same as the black ones you wore for the reaping. No heel, but they are heels, designed to keep you balanced even if you lean back. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be careful with how you move around.
You let them put on the shoes for you, since you don’t have that much of an option. Even with the shoes on, the dress still hits the floor, and there’s a little bit of a train in the back.
They slip in matching earrings, bracelets and the ring that you had gotten from the tribute parade to please whoever threw the gift at you. It’s a hope that they’ll sponsor you when you’re inside of the arena because of it. It makes you look considerate and humble, which you don’t really care about.
They’re like a hurricane with how they move around you. They tweak, they adjust, they take a step back. Amias orders them around harshly, she’s strict on what she wants. She’s obviously got something envisioned and she won’t allow it to be fucked up by a couple of morons.
“How much time until interviews?” you ask.
Makeup guy takes a look at his watch, “Thirty minutes.”
“Am I done?” you ask Amias.
“In a hurry?”
“I’ve got something to do, and it has to be done before interviews since we’ll be standing on stage after them.”
Amias looks over you one last time, “Yes, you may go. Pull up the front when you walk, don’t bend down, and don’t touch your face or hair. If you need something to play with, stick with the ring and necklace.”
“Thank you.” you say, giving her a wave as you slip out of the room.
In the hallway waits a couple of people already. Cashmere, Gloss and Brutus primarily. They all stand together in a half circle. Gloss looks over by chance and catches you.
Following what Amias said, you pull up the front of the dress as you walk over, being sure to give a look around to see if Finnick is out just yet. You can’t imagine that he really needs a lot done to him. The guys always get let off easier.
A great example, is whatever the fuck Brutus is wearing.
“You’re kidding me.” you flick the silver armor that he has on.
After, you’re quick to make sure you haven’t chipped your nail polish. It’s fine, it’s probably got some strong coating knowing Amias.
“Nope.”
“You’re basically wearing what you had for the tribute parade.” you scowl, “I guess you can get away with whatever you want.”
Brutus shrugs.
You look at Cashmere and Gloss to see that they’re wearing similar sequin outfits. You make a face, nodding since it makes sense that they’re matching. They’re siblings after all. Cashmere takes this as a nod of approval and sends a smile your way.
“You look amazing.” Gloss says.
“I know.” you say, looking around again.
There he is, eyes locked on you. He uses his index finger to beckon you to follow him, going around a corner. You let out a laugh, and then look to the others to see that they’re waiting to see what you’re laughing at.
“I’ve got to use the restroom, can you believe that? I’ll be back in a second.” you tell them, before leaving them.
You pass by a couple of people in the hallway, and with the way that they stare, you feel like you’re at a high school prom all over again. Junior year after you had won your games, the way that people looked at you was never the same. As if they were afraid to approach you or something.
You did win prom queen that year, though. And then the year after that, too.
You take a wide turn around the corner as if Finnick is going to pounce on you the second you round it. However, he’s pretty far down the hall, arms crossed with a smug look on his face.
“What happened to being too good for an alliance with me?” he asks, he looks amused and cocky.
“I came to my senses,” you flash him a white smile, “I realized that it might be good to have you around, after all.”
“It has nothing to do with the fact that Katniss and Peeta got twelve’s?”
You can’t lie your way out of this, he’ll know, “Partially. Forget hanging around with Cashmere, Gloss and Brutus. I want a place in whatever you have.”
“Fat chance.” he says, and you can feel your smile fade a little.
“Why not?”
“You know why. I don’t want you killing my allies.”
“Want them all to yourself?” Your eyebrow spikes up, “Tell me Finnick, are you going to be able to protect them when they rush towards the cornucopia tomorrow?”
Finnick opens his mouth, “They can take care of themselves.”
“Let’s see, you’ll be taking care of Mags, and Katniss will be taking care of Peeta because he’s nothing but a sack of flour--how ironic. If you have me there, I can basically be a bodyguard.”
“Until you kill one of us in our sleep, right?” Finnick watches your face carefully, “You’re mistaking me for something that I’m not.”
“Everyone is going to kill each other one way or another.” you say, “I won’t have to do it early on, that’s the whole point of alliances. I keep you guys around until we start to turn on each other.”
“What if we don’t have those intentions?” Finnick asks, there’s an edge to his voice.
You open your mouth, “What are you planning?”
“Tell me, (Y/n), are you a loyalist?”
You can feel yourself become stiff. Loyalist, a term normally used for people who would follow the government no matter what happens. In that case, it would the Capitol and the districts. It’s no secret that District One and District Two would follow the Capitol because you guys are treated like loyalty, as for the other districts...
There’s a deeper meaning, especially after what happened in the last games. Not all the districts like the Capitol or President Snow and his precious Hunger Games. They would do anything to cancel them, and after what Katniss pulled with Peeta, there have been a few people fighting back, Neysa and Edmond were whispering about it over dinner last night.
Loyalist. Loyalist. Loyalist.
There’s a much bigger plan going on here.
You snap your mouth shut, which has since opened after that question. You press your lips together tightly as you stare at Finnick’s face. You feel like a robot with how you don’t move.
Loyalist. It would mean that they’re planning to go against President Snow, right? It would mean that there will be people who stay loyal to the Capitol, and the people who wouldn’t be.
You can’t lie, you have had a fantastic life in District Two. But you’re human and you realize that other people are too. Just like how you hate how the avoxes are treated, you hate how some of the other districts are treated too.
But if an uprising is what they think is going to solve all of this, you don’t like them at all. They’re going to screw up the way of life for too many people. District Two is happy how they serve the Capitol, no one will fight with them. And if you’re wrong about that, then there aren't very many who will.
However, would you fight with them? If what he said is real, would you fight with them?
“You are bold.” you continue staring at Finnick with an open mouth, unsure of how to actually approach this, “And careless for asking me a question like that outright.”
Finnick’s face twists now, “Are you, though?”
The thing is you don’t know. The hunger games is all you’ve ever known. You’ve never lived any other lifestyle.
“Yes or no.” Finnick insists.
“I’m not going to answer that question.” you decide, “Because I don’t know what you’re up to, and I don’t want to. Forget the alliance thing, I change my mind.”
You start to walk off, but Finnick catches your arm, “I could tell you.”
“Why would you want to?”
Finnick lets go, “Because having you on our side could be useful.”
“Useful for what?” you lower your voice, “Getting everyone else in District Two to follow behind all the other rioting districts?”
He’s clearly surprised that you understood so quickly.
“We have nothing to complain about, Finnick. We’ve got the good life.”
“And everyone else? What about the people who don’t have the good life? The ones that fight to live everyday? What about them?” he asks.
You nod slowly, thinking, “Well, I’m not a loyalist and I’m not too fond of being considered a traitor either.”
“You’re after the glory of being a legend, right?” Finnick asks, you take a step back, “This is better than that. People will know that you were the first person from District Two to hop on and lead. You want people to look up to you, here it is.”
You want to tell him it’s not the same, but the words don’t appear in your mouth.
Finnick is looking past you now, and you turn to see who he’s staring at. Haymitch Abernathy, his eyebrows are drawn together, “Interviews have started.”
“Thanks.” Finnick says, and the two of you watch as he disappears behind the corner again, “Don’t make the decision now, but if you do want to join us, come and find me inside of the arena.”
You look at him, “You’re going to run to the cornucopia, I’m not stupid.”
“I know you’re not. Which is why I think you’ll make the right decision.”
You scoff, “Right decision? You know what you’re asking, right?” and then you laugh, shaking your head as you pull up your dress so you can walk away, “How do I know if any of this is even true?” he doesn’t say anything, “Exactly, this could be some sort of sick ruse just to draw me in to kill me and get me out of the way. I didn’t come here to be killed, I came here to win. And you’re going to have to fight me for it.”
You shake your head at him one last time before turning around and walking back to the main hallway. There are a ton of people waiting now, but you don’t spare any looks. Brutus is waiting for you by a tv, which holds both Cashmere and Gloss.
“They’re doing it together?” you ask, crossing your arms over your chest.
“Yeah, since they’re siblings and all,” Brutus takes a look over your face, “What’s the matter?”
“Nothing.” you say, “I’m ready for all of this to be done now. No more meddling, I just want to be inside of the arena.”
“Tomorrow.” Brutus says, “Then everyone can pay their dues.”
You smile a little bit at the thought, “Anyway, are we going up together?”
“No, we’re not.” Brutus says, you watch as Caesar starts to wrap up the interview.
“Better get ready.” he motions for you to go down the hall.
You do, being sure to hold up the front of the dress as you go down. Amias is standing in a little alcove with a mirror. She adjusts a few things, wishes you luck and then you stand in front of the doors.
There’s a cheering of the crowd before Caesar starts talking, “Ladies and gentlemen, let’s welcome one of our favorites! You know her as the girl who blew her competition out of the water! Let’s give a warm welcome to (Y/n) Rosecelli!”
The doors open, you can see Caesar has his arm outstretched towards you. The spotlight meets your eyes, making it difficult to see, but you don’t dare to move your hands from the fronts of your dress. You’re just puzzled as to why he said the second thing.
‘Blew her competition out of the water’? Since when? As in you did so well during your games, or something you might have done during this week that you weren’t aware of? It’s weird to know that the Capitol gives tributes nicknames, you’d think they’d run out of them.
Gloss and Cashmere, the brother and sister duo. Beetee, the genius. Finnick, the peacock. Johanna, the deceiver. Katniss Everdeen, the girl on fire and Peeta Mellark--loverboy.
You never got to know yours.
You take Caesar’s hand when you come up the steps, giving the biggest smile you can to the audience, “Caesar!”
“(Y/n)!” He meets your enthusiasm.
The two of you wait until the audience has settled before actually starting with the interview. When you look over your shoulder, you can see that Cashmere and Gloss are waiting up on some small walkway. You’ll be standing there for an hour when you’re done with this interview.
“How does it feel to be back in the Capitol after all these years?” He begins, “You know, we’ve missed you and your business.”
“It feels fantastic, really. Like I’m back in my second home, the Capitol has this welcoming feel, especially for me. If it weren’t for my favorite students back home, then I would stay here forever.” you give a big smile, “I might even consider it, after I win.”
Caesar laughs, the citizens cheer at the sound of that, “You’ve got your mind set on the big win?”
“Of course I do. And I promise to make this year much more entertaining than my first games. No abrupt endings this time.”
More cheering, enough so that Caesar has to watch the clock so it doesn’t take up too much of your time, “You said that you have students, what ever do you mean?”
You laugh a little, “I mean my two tributes who won, Tanith and Zavian. I’m hoping they’re watching, but knowing Zavian, he’s likely avoiding the television until I’m off.” you give a look to the nearest camera, “As for Tanith, she’s on the edge of her seat, fingers crossed that I don’t blow this.”
“You could never!” Caesar says, “You’re too good to even be on here.”
“I wouldn’t say that, Caesar.” you laugh with him.
“Is there anything you would like to say to Tanith or Zavian?”
You pucker your lips as you think, “Well, I just want them to know that I will uphold my promise. I will be coming home, even if it might kill me. I will be walking out of that arena alive.”
“That’s a bold statement.”
“I’m a bold person.” you say.
While the crowd cheers, Caesar is obviously thinking up other things to ask you, “Should we expect any surprises?”
It feels like you have a flashback to the hallway, to Finnick telling you not to make your decision right then and there. It was open-ended. It was an invitation to go and see him whenever you’d like inside of the arena if you come to your senses. As if he’ll take you in with no question.
“Maybe.” You say, “Because we both know that the arena will be a doozy, there’s no telling what might happen inside of there.”
Caesar nods, liking that answer.
There’s a faint beeping, which is a signal that your interview is over.
“Thank you for your time (Y/n), it was a pleasure having you.”
“It was a pleasure being back inside of the Capitol after nine years.” you give a wave to the audience.
“Everyone, please give a big round of applause for (Y/n) Rosecelli, our favorite star!”
Star. That’s your nickname.
You’re a Star.

Post-survey updates
After my recent fandom survey I updated my fandom list. Here are the biggest changes:
→ Since they got no votes in the question considering the fandoms you'd like me to write for soon and I was slowly giving up on them myself, I no longer write for Maniac, The Book Thief and The End of the F***ing World. I might occasionaly come back to them but they won't be on the regular list and I won't take requests for them. All the fandoms that are official now but I haven't written for yet stay where they are, since I want to write for them and they all got at least one vote. [edit] I should probably also mention that most popular fandoms, according to the survey, are Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia, Stranger Things and The Hunger Games. I'll do my best to write more for them. :)
→ I added some characters for fandoms I write for. I will consider them (as well as ones that were already on the list but my attention was additionally turned to them in the survey) when planning out my own ideas, but you're also welcome to send requests for them if there are your favourite characters on the list now but weren't before. However, there are characters that were suggested in the survey but I did not add: these are Adult!Henry from OUAT (I'm still stuck on season 2 so I'm only familiar the child version of Henry and I feel my descriptions of the adult version wouldn't be accurate), Regulus Black from HP (it's one of the characters I feel I know the least at this point and I wouldn't feel okay putting him on the list, even in italics) and Scorpius Malfoy from HP (I don't know him at all since I think we get to know him better in The Cursed Child and I haven't read it). I might add them in the future but for now they are out of my reach. Someone also suggested writing for Disney characters, which is a bit vague but I'll keep in mind someone wants me to write for Disney.
→ I updated possible future fandoms. I'm probably going to shift ASOUE to the 'official' ones soon since it got a couple of votes and I was thinking about it anyway, although I want to rewatch a couple of episodes (since I'm mainly thinking about the Netflix series here) first. I also deleted some fandoms I planned to write for, and added some of those recommended to me. I can't promise I will write for all of them in the near or distant future since some don't feel like my cup of tea (for example, I never really got into LOTR or The Witcher despite being tempred), but I want to give all recommendations a shot. I also hope I got it right that Gotham belongs to DC and TFatWS belongs to Marvel (as you can see, I don't really know about it, but I'm willing to make adjustments).
- On another note, most of the people that voted want me to write headcanons (8 out of 9 votes) and oneshots (6 out of 9), although all the types got at least 2 votes (and 1 person let me know I should just do what I'm happy with). I guess I simply won't limit myself in any way, but I'd actually love to write more headcanons. With upcoming exams I don't think I will find enough time to write any oneshots soon, but I'll it keep in mind to search for some ideas for them and write them when I have more time; when I'm done with this semester some time in June, I might even take a couple requests for ficlets and oneshots if you'd like to. Please let me know via ask or in private message if you want me to open requests for those types in the future!
- It was also suggested to me that I should write more for shy/introverted readers or even autistic readers. I will write first one with pleasure since I'm that type of person myself, but I'm not sure if I will write for autistic readers. I'm willing to do a proper research and write them as well as I can if you trust me enough to put it in a specific request (which I'm quicker to accept than just a vague idea) but personally I'm not on the spectrum and I don't want to hurt anyone with inappropriate depiction of a community I'm not a part of and can't relate to. Hope you'll understand!
If anything is unclear at this point, if I messed anything up or if there's anything you'd like to add, let me know! I'll fix all my slip ups with pleasure. :)

quarantine tag game
I was tagged by @feedingmyinsomnia, thank you! <3
ARE YOU STAYING HOME FROM WORK AND SCHOOL? I do not have anywhere to stay home *from*, luckily.
IF YOU’RE STAYING HOME, WHO IS THERE WITH YOU? my husband.
ARE YOU A HOMEBODY? yes! I like staying home, although I do wish it was more voluntary. And that, when I do go out, I could not worry about taking public transport..
AN EVENT THAT YOU WERE LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT GOT CANCELLED? Well, we live in Spain and our families are in Germany. Usually we visit a few times a year, but obviously that hasn’t happened in a year now. The only specific plans we had were Easter last year, but obviously normally we would also have gone for Christmas. There was also a wedding that has been.. more or less indefinitely postponed. But not cancelled. (They did the civic part, but the celebration with friends and families is not happening until it’s safe)
WHAT MOVIES HAVE YOU WATCHED RECENTLY? I don’t watch movies, watching things costs people energy *and* sensory input processing energy.
WHAT SHOWS ARE YOU WATCHING? Same as above - I do not watch things. (If I did, i’d consider watching the Witcher, or rewatching Good Omens - i never got far into a second time watching it, although i have it on DVD)
WHAT MUSIC ARE YOU LISTENING TO? Umm.. The Amazing Devil is new on my list. Other than that.. whatever comes to my mind and i can find online. I’ve been dipping back into my teenage depression music and the music friends introduced me to at uni. (If you want to know more, and can stand to me rambling about things, you’re welcome to come talk to me!)
WHAT ARE YOU READING? Mostly fanfic. I really struggle to read new worlds and characters. I read Hunger Pangs: True Love Bites last year, that was good! But then, Joy is good at writing an original world like it’s fanfic! Currently I’m trying to get my brain on board with reading Gideon The Ninth.. we are still in negotiation.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR SELF-CARE? Does “eating a fuckton of sweets” count? XD More seriously, I am eternally grateful to my husband for keeping me on something at least vaguely resembling a regular schedule, making me go to bed every night and get up every afternoon. I take my antidepressants every day, together with some multivitamin and extra vitamin D. I do an online yoga class every Sunday, I have knit night and Spanish class on zoom ever Thursday. I have a daily phone reminder to “check in for self-care” that makes me check if i need to eat, drink, go to the loo, stretch, take painkillers, ... And I keep in contact with friends. I may not have anyone but my husband to meet here, but I’ve met most of my friends exclusively online for a long time anyway. I can do that a few more years or decades. And it helps to check in on each other. Even if all we do is complain at each other and make understanding noises when the other complains. (I also read fanfic, and have a tab open with a google image search for “manul kittens”. Bc they make everything better)
I’m not tagging anyone in specific, but if you’re reading this, I do want to know your answers! Yes you. Yes, even if we’ve never spoken. Yes, even if we speak every day. Yes, even if we’ve spoken, but not recently. Really. I just don’t want to tag anyone who might be.. unable to deal with the topic at the moment.

March TBR/W.
Every book, audiobook, tv show and movie I want to consume in March 2021.
-Hence ‘TBR/W’ - to-be-read/watched.
I’m not usually a fan of pre-planning my media for the month - I plan out all my media obsessively, but doing it by month seems a little too much like setting deadlines for my taste, and I’m sure I’ll somehow manage to turn watching tv into a chore. Regardless, it’s worth a shot, so this is going to be a rough guide - I’m going to pick four of each category, one per week, because I’d rather underestimate and surpass than overestimate and have to defer things to the next month. So let’s go.
Books
Tumblr media
1. Skyward and 2. Starsight by Brandon Sanderson
Skyward is set in a future where the human race is on the verge of extinction, trapped on a planet constantly attacked by alien warriors. Spensa, a teenage girl stuck on the planet, wants to be a pilot, but it seems far-off. Then, she finds the wreckage of a ship that appears to have a soul, and she must figure out how to repair it, and persuade it to help her navigate flight school.
In truth, I mainly want to read this because of how highly it’s been praised by Hailey in Bookland on YouTube. I actually tried reading Sanderson’s Mistborn series a couple years ago, and just didn’t click with it. I love fantasy, but I can pretty confidently say epic fantasy just isn’t for me. However, Sanderson’s work is adored by many, and Skyward and its sequel Starsight appeal so much more to me, and I can’t wait to get to them.
Tumblr media
3. House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas
This is Maas’s first technically-adult book; Throne of Glass is young adult, ACOTAR being classed either as young or new adult. I’ve been a fan of Maas for a long time, and, though I enjoy her books less now than I have in the past due to how seriously they tend to take themselves, I’d still love to read this one. Where her previous series were both fantasies, this sits somewhere between that and a sci-fi, but I can’t say as-of-yet what I think, because I haven’t read it yet.
Bryce Quinlan finds herself investigating her friends’ deaths in an attempt to avenge them after they were taken from her by a demon. Hunt Athalar is a Fallen angel, enslaved by Archangels, forced to assassinate their enemies, when he’s offered a deal to assist Bryce in exchange for his freedom.
Tumblr media
4. Scythe by Neal Shusterman
I listened to this as an audiobook in 2019 as part of BookTuber Book Roast’s Magical Readathon, and didn’t hugely get along with it in truth. The audiobook was excellent as an audiobook, but the story Ian’s I just didn’t really vibe. I think I just want to like this book, so I think it’s worth a reread to see if my opinion changes.
This follows Citra and Rowan, a reluctant pair of apprentice Scythes - in a utopian future where humanity has the means to live forever, it is the job of the Scythes to control the population by essentially reaping the souls of those they choose to die. Neither Citra or Rowan want it, but I don’t remember enough about this book to say any more.
Audiobooks
Tumblr media
1. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
This is the last book in the Hunger Games trilogy, and you either already know what this series is about, or you’ve been living under a rock for the last thirteen years. I read this book for the first time nearly seven years ago, and it’s stuck with me. It sent me into a phase of only reading dystopian books (The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken was part of this, and was the series that really got me into reading), but this was the main one that stuck with me.
It contains a powerful message about capitalism and discrimination, and this is the second time I’ve listened to the audiobooks, though the god-only-knows-what time I’ve read the series. I listened to The Hunger Games and Catching Fire in February, which automatically puts this on my to-listen for March.
Tumblr media
2. Ghosts of the Shadow Market by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson, Kelly Link and Robin Wasserman
This is a novella bind-up set in the Shadowhunters world, that I would imagine has quite a bit to do with the Shadow Market, an aspect of the Downworld introduced in The Dark Artifices, which I finished in January.
In truth, I’m mainly planning to listen to this audiobook because it’s the only Shadowhunters novella bind-up with an audiobook, and I’d just rather read additions to the main Shadowhunters series in this format rather than physically.
Tumblr media
3. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins
This is a Hunger Games prequel that was released early last year, and I just wasn’t going to read it. I heard several reviews, the general consensus of which was basically that it’s not as good as the trilogy and is somewhat unnecessary, but, in truth, my curiosity’s got the better of me, especially since I started listening to the trilogy’s audiobooks again.
This prequel follows Coriolanus Snow as a mentor in the Games before he became President of Panem and the wonderful villain of the original trilogy.
Tumblr media
4. Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia
I mentioned this in my physical TBR post a couple weeks ago, but have decided to listen to the audiobook instead. A few weeks ago, I’d started to run out of audiobooks I wanted to listen to, and didn’t want to read anything on my regular TBR in this format, including this book. But, I went through a load of audiobook recommendations, and this was one of them, so it joined my to-listen.
I’m not hugely into contemporary books, but I’ve wanted to get more into the genre for a while, and this was the first one to join my TBR.
This novel follows Eliza Mirk, your typical high school outcast, who publishes a hugely popular web comic under the pseudonym LadyConstellation. Then Wallace Warland, the biggest fanfic writer of her comic transfers to her school and begins to draw her out of her shell.
TV Shows
Before I go into my list, I’d like to mention that I am currently watching WandaVision and am definitely planning to watch Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+, but both come out on a weekly basis, so aren’t being included on this list. Also, I’ve been watching way too much YouTube recently, so I’m not sure I’ll get through all of these this month, especially since I’m watching the Arrowverse shows, which have such long seasons.
Tumblr media
1. Love, Victor Season 1
This Love, Simon spin-off follows a character named Victor at Creekwood (I think that’s the name?) High School. I saw Love, Simon twice in cinemas when it was released, and, miraculously, it made me cry. I love that movie.
This series was released last year on Hulu, which is only available in the US, but as of February 23rd, it’s one of the shows that came to Disney+ as part of Star.
Tumblr media
2. The Flash Season 1
As mentioned, I’ve started watching the DC Arrowverse shows. I watch tv shows through alternating seasons - as in, I watch season 1 of show A, then season 1 of show B, then 2 of A, etc., then when I finish one, I start watching show C - but I’m treating the Arrowverse as one show (even though it isn’t) so it’s not the only thing I’m watching. So this is technically Arrowverse S3, preceded by Arrow S1+2 (though I haven’t actually started S2 as of writing this because of how much YouTube I’ve been watching, so I’ll be finishing that first).
I genuinely don’t know that much about most DC superheroes, Flash included, but I’m going into this having been assured it takes itself less goddamn seriously than Arrow. It’s my sister’s favourite Arrowverse show, and I can’t wait.
Tumblr media
3. Dare Me Season 1
I added this Netflix show to my watchlist when it came out, and my basic understanding is that it focuses on the cheerleaders at a high school, and begins when a new coach arrives. It focuses on the psychological damage behind competitive cheerleading, and I’m not convinced I’m going to love it, but I think it’s worth a shot.
Tumblr media
4. Arrow Season 3
I’m so confused by this poster. This is specifically the season 3 poster, and I’m so confused, but I’m sure it’ll make more sense when I watch the season.
I explained the weird way I’m watching Arrowverse (named as such because Arrow was the first show in it) already, but Arrow follows Oliver Queen, the son of one of the billionaires of Starling City upon his return after being stuck for five years on an island when a cruise ship carrying him and his father sunk. His father left him with a list of names of the people ‘corrupting’ the city, and Oliver takes it upon himself to assume a vigilante identity and take them down.
Movies
I’m not a huge movie-watcher, but I end up compiling so many to watch that, to ensure I get round to them, I watch a movie every time I finish a tv show season. I’m also currently re-watching the MCU movies in chronological order.
Tumblr media
1. Instant Family
This is just something that came onto Netflix recently and I thought might be entertaining, and so it joined my list.
This follows a couple who decide to adopt a teenager, only to find out she has two more siblings.
Tumblr media
2. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
This is just a continuation of my MCU re-watch - I love this movie. I love Guardians of the Galaxy, full stop (on another note, I just generally don’t understand why British people call it a full stop and Americans call it a period. Neither name makes particular sense).
Tumblr media
3. Avengers: Age of Ultron
And here we have another continuation of my MCU rewatch. I honestly think this is my favourite Avengers movie, because the whole teams actually together, and Wanda, Scarlet Witch, is introduced - I love her. I really didn’t like Vision until WandaVision came out, though.
Tumblr media
4. Behind The Try: A Try Guys Documentary
Not technically a movie, but still. (Are documentaries movies? I tend to think of them as separate categories, but I guess they’re both movies. Hm.) I’ve been watching the Try Guys for years, which means I need to convince my sister to give me her Google password so I don’t have to pay for this.
I’m probably not going to stick to this list, and even if I do, I’m either going to also consume things not on it, or just not finish it. But, you’ll have to wait for my March wrap-up to find out.

Please god do you have recommendations on the best series to watch
Some of my personal recomendations that I can list from the top of my head, I will be writing a lot of text below so hold onto your horses.
My Life- NatalieFirexx
Still running to this day and in its 12th season. So amazing to see the growth over the years. The first seasons are so funny in a sense of knowing a little Christian emo kid made them, but later seasons have developed into such an interesting story with beautiful visuals, incredible cinematography and relationships that you end up caring about so deeply. Every season has a new storyline to follow and it's always so wild remembering all that's happened in its 10 year run and thinking up what else is to come. Though season 12 is said to be it's final season and I look forward to seeing what Natalie has in store for us after the finale.
The story of My Life follows the Andrews family and their friends in everyday shenanigans, you know, the usual: teen pregnancy, kidnapping, vampires, murder, identity theft, angels, ghosts, hacked kids and love.
(There's also a My Life Abridged voice acting series of season 1 currently in the works, now at episode 5)
Smooth Criminal - SaltPepperSims1408
I always have fun rewatching this. Its only 2 seasons long and once again, a sims series that evolved over it's run. Following Abby as her life goes from normal (if you can call your illegal scientist parents experimenting on criminals in your basement normal) to having visions of her parent's test subject's past and joining his gang where hes the leader and battles a disease that gives him 10x the strength and intelligence of a regular human being. Catch is, this genetic disease is rare and makes you go insane. Most people with it end up insane by 30.
A series with a lot of guns, a badass female main protag, death, once again, teen pregnancy (which will be a common sims series theme), fun dream/vision sequences and in my opinion has a great sense of humour.
SaltPepperSims1408 also has a highly recommended voice over series (though incomplete) titled Apokalypsis, a group of young adults/teens trying to survive in an apocalypse.
CINDER - GrayLeeStudios
Based on the book CINDER by Marissa Meyer. Cinder is a beautifully made voice over series, great visuals, wonderfully told it's story, though it is incomplete at 5 episodes, each running 10-18 minutes. Loosely based on the original Cinderella story but in a futuristic Beijing, adding robots, a colonization on the moon and a deadly plague that has affected the Emperor.
The protagonist is the mechanic, Lihn Cinder. Despite how well known her work as a mechanic is, she is looked down on for being a cyborg and is presented for plague research where she and Prince Kai become closer.
Y O U T H - 1998sims
YOUTH is a retelling of Youth, also a sims series by the same creator that reached its second season before discontinuing. Already a series that dealt with real life issues and involved a lot of representation in its characters. YOUTH is a different experience with all new characters, even more representation and everyone still feeling real in a way where their identities don't define them but are in NO WAY erased at all, like they're real people. When comparing the two series you can see the similar storyline but now its so much fresher and with new characters, their decisions in these situations change. Follows the story of multiple characters in their teen years and learning to deal with being a teen or in some cases having to make adult decisions despite that. Currently up to episode 5 but there is still so much more to come.
1998sims is also the creator behind Avoiding Fate, Its Complicated (currently not available online) and the most iconic series that I HIGHLY suggest you watch; My Sims 2 Emo Teen Pregnancy Kidnapping Story
SOUP - SimFilm
This sims 3 voice over series is brand new, as of this month, with one episode released but I'm already in love with it. It has this deadpan sense of humour I can get behind and I'm really looking forward to seeing where it goes. It appears the episodes will be short and sweet but I really don't mind at all.
Our protagonist, Harris Gold, alphabetizes his life's misfortunes like a can of alphabet soup.
I quote "looks pretty decent on the outside, but when you open the can, you'll simply want to kill yourself"
The filming is wonderful, I love the voice actors and how well they play their roles, the story so far is fun and silly but deals with really strong issues other teenagers might have experienced growing up. Kind of like laughing the pain away and I adore it.
Raison D'etre - Cornymio
I haven't watched a lot of sims 4 machinima if im to be honest (since life to death stories are so rampant on YouTube at the moment and I'd rather just avoid them) but this series was very well made. Only 2 episodes but the voice acting is amazing, the sims custom animations are wonderful and at times the sims can be almost perfectly lip synced to the voices. Has an indie film vibe that I adore, very calming and I adore the camera work. This is a revamp of the creators old Sims 3 series by the same title.
Reine Reynolds enrols herself into a new school, here we meet a variety of students who are all relatable in one way or another with different relationships amongst themselves. A nice watch and won't take long to get through.
Marry Me! - Tickled007
This is actually a companion piece to Marry You by Maot Productions. Marry You has more episodes and progressed it's story much further but personal preference I like Marry Me!'s characters and humour better. Not a fault to the creators though, since I believe they wrote both stories together and I do still recommend you go watch Marry You as well, just my personal taste. I also watched this very recently which is probably why it's on my mind rn.
Marry Me! Is a 2 episode long (so far) voice over series that's quite high energy, it's about a loud "bitch" fashion designer called Serafie and a "pushover" called Carmion. Two opposites that somehow cross paths and after a money hiccup, Seraphie demands that Carmion marry her. I love how silly it is, very kdrama inspired. If you can get past the overused swooping sfx in episode one (which drove me insane but will go away in episode 2) I think it's super enjoyable.
Tickled007 is also the creator of Passcode Unknown, Too Popular and And... Obvious.
I feel it unfair not to mention Maot Productions other creations either since they were also a big part of the Marry Me! Marry You project. They created Sense Me Not!, Corrupted Souls, Cruel Temptation and Retribution
Other simmers and their series that I highly recommend but realise this ask is going to get extremely long
EkolarasMagnum
Their series tend to have this grungy highschool feel to them but I get behind it. They're known for their more interesting sims style, some people love it, some people hate it but it shouldn't get in the way of the interesting stories. I used to adore their work so much as a teenager!
- Advocated
- Strangers
- Volatile
PumpkinsAtTheDisco
Made a variety of sims series based on books (before these same books were made into films) such as the Hunger Games. This creator is incredibly talented from filming, writing to composing their own music. You can really see their improvement over the years too. I love their work.
- The Hunger Games
- Miss Peregrines Home For Peculiar Children
- Dimension 17
- Post Icarus
- Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
StarsToShinex
Their concepts are fun and they have good voice actors. Their filming and editing is nice but their work does have an anime feel if that's more your taste.
- Spotlight
- My guardian
- My guardian- the next chapter
- Seeking Faith
- The last day
MajesticFilms
Their aesthetics are lovely, they make a lot of visually pleasing machinima. I admire their editing.
- Paper Boats
- Arsonist's Lullaby
- Sounds of Silence
- Machinima playlist
ViNtAgELovv11
Still works on videos now and I adore their work, been around for 10 years and only continuing to improve. I believe their most known series wou lkd have to be wasteland but please check out their newer works too!
- Scum City
- Wasteland
- Wonderland
- Runaway
- ROADS
There are so much more and i might make a pt.2 or something along those lines one day since this ask is getting long. But I also have a list of simmers and series on my navigation page if you want to search through some more works.

goblin
brooklyn 99
the umbrella academy
élite
the witcher - i need to rewatch this I LOVE this show
his dark materials
sense8
queer eye
i’m not the biggest movie/book fan anymore, especially movies. i much prefer to watch a tv show and get to know characters through a long period of time than have a 2 hour movie and then it’s done.
but, books i love:
the night circus - favorite book of all time, i need to reread it.
harry potter
shadow and bone - i started this and then never picked up the second book but i really want to!
the hunger games series
i have read more but i don’t love them now as an adult like i did when i was a teenager.
movies i love:
from up on poppy hill - yes i’m a basic bitch this is my favorite ghibli movie. don’t @ me
tangled
ratatouille
get out - i watched this movie and it has never left my mind since.
knives out
the shape of water
the hunger games series
the dark knight rises
emma - recent watch, i loved it!
rise of the guardians
the cardcaptor sakura movies - this is very random but i love sakura so much, she’s my absolute favorite ever my baby girl. i loved these movies as a child
harry potter HOWEVER. i feel like i get mad watching them now because it misses so many details and moments between characters that it just pisses me off. also? what HAPPENED in that writing room to make ginny like that? appalling. no offense to bonnie but my girl deserved much better
you know... i’m a k- 🤢 kpop 🤢 fan so i watch a lot of k-shows
my faves are:
NEW JOURNEY TO THE WEST - I LOVE THIS SHOOW SO MUCH EVERYONE PLEASE WATCH IT’S SO FUNNY!!!! i get on another level with this show. it feeds my soul. my crops thrive, my skin glows. it’s amazing. go watch it i am begging. thank me later!
heart signal - oh my god if you like those trashy romance shows this is for you. filmed super high quality, most likely very scripted but i eat it up! season 3 just started and i’m living!
love catcher - similar to heart signal but you choose to be in the game for either money or love. the contestants need to figure out if the person they like is either money or love because in the end, if a money pairs up with a love, the money person gets 50,000$.
handsome tigers - i believe this just recently ended. i loved it so much! i didn’t expect to like watching basketball but it was so much fun.
knowing bros - i don’t watch this often at all anymore but, if there’s a guest i enjoy, i’ll usually watch it.
youn’s kitchen 2 - if you like more a chill out, long episodes type of show, this is amazing for that. it’s so relaxing, so fun to watch. it’s about an old korean actress that opens a restaurant in spain with other 3 actors. they serve korean food. it’s very wholesome. i just rewatched it recently, i absolutely love it. the first season i can’t seem to find subbed so :(
kang’s kitchen - it’s made by the same producer that does youn’s kitchen and it brings the cast of new journey to the west to open a pop-up restaurant. opposite of relaxing but it’s so funny. if you need a laugh give this a go cause it’s hillarious! there’s 3 seasons now of this cast, so the order i’d recommend is njttw 1, 2, 3, 4, kangs kitchen 1, njttw 5, 6, 7, kang’s kitchen 2/3
favorite k-dramas:
strong woman do bong soon
w: two worlds

age of youth 1 & 2 - please watch this oh my god. it’s about a group of girls and their lives and it talks about so many “taboo-ish” subjects in korea that you really don’t see in other dramas. so well done.
