The only sounds in your room were your sneezes and soft imprecations towards whoever cursed you to stay bedridden on the most important weekend of your nerd life.

The anime convention of the month. You spent so many energies to craft your cosplay, and even managed to make one for your boyfriend, Yuji, so you two could make a couple cosplay. However, here you were, bedridden with a fever of 39°C, while your friends were having fun at the convention.

And you knew who he was, and you would make him pay for his ruining it. You could gamble your allowance that someone was a certain cute pink-haired boy’s twin, a certain mean and annoying twin who hated seeing you and his kind twin happy together.

Your thoughts of vengeance were interrupted, once again, by your nth sneeze, as you sighed loudly, before falling in the soft warmth of the bed. Grumbling, you turn on your side, your hand tasting the night table near your bed. Your fingers met something cold, your phone, as you took it. The screen brightness almost blinded you, you closed your eyes for a few seconds, to make them adjust to the brightness. Once again, you opened it and noticed a few texts from your friends, it seemed that they were having fun at the convention.

Nobara sent you a photo of her and Maki, dressed up as Hachi and Nana from NANA. You almost fawned on how pretty and cool they were, you typed a long message declaring how much you adored and loved their cosplays. You coughed a little, as you saw other messages from your other friends who were there. Honestly, you wanted to cry, it wasn’t fair that they managed to enjoy the convention, while you were in your room coughing and sneezing. You spent days, no weeks, to prepare the perfect cosplay, managing to not spend too much money and sew almost the entirety of the costume, create some of the accessories, and the only thing you had to buy was the wig. You were proud of yourself and your work. Frustrated, you put the phone on the night table once again, before rolling on your side, trying to gain sleep, at least you could do that without coughing or sneezing.

“(-me).”

“(-me).”

You grunted as you rolled in your fuzzy sheets, trying to ignore the voice, however your attempt was a failure as someone stripped them off. Before you could curse him, your eyes met with the brown ones of your boyfriend, Yuji. You blinked a few times, surprised, you didn’t expect to see him, especially after going to the convention for who knew how long. Coughing, you tried to stand up, however, Yuji immediately helped you sit straight and even put a pillow behind your back, so you could stay comfortable. He was such a househusband material, you thought as you coughed one last time.

“Thank you, Yuji.” You thanked him as he gave you the water bottle that was on the nightstand. “Why are you here? Aren’t you tired from the convention?”

The pink-haired boy just grinned at your words, as he proudly showed you three bags, as he put them delicately on your lap. They were quite heavy, and you wondered what it was inside, as you opened one of them and you gasped loudly.

“I was right about you liking my surprise, and now Kusigaki has to give me ten bucks.” He chuckled as he grinned, thinking about the bet he just won, then he pointed to one bag before he added. “I bought you some presents, go on, babe, open them.” He reassured you with the biggest smile ever.

You couldn’t help but giggle at his smile, he sure was able to make you feel better even with just his precious smile. How you wanted to kiss him, but you didn’t want to pass him your flu. You cursed your flu once again for taking away from you the possibility to smooch your pretty boyfriend.

Trusting Yuuji’s words, you opened the first bag and a loud gasp, followed by a cough, left your lips, as your eyes widened. You couldn’t believe what you were seeing, your head automatically shifted to your boyfriend, as he was grinning at your reaction.

“Then? I bought the right merch~ Yay! And the others didn’t believe me! Ah, serves them right!” The pink-haired boy just smiled as he waited patiently for you to open all your presents.

Your eyes scanned the content of the bag, noticing all the pins, badges, figures, and acrylics of your favourite characters of various animes and video games you mentioned to him. He didn’t forget one character, never in your previous relationship your exes remembered all this information, you were dumbfounded. Your eyes met Yuuji’s brownish ones, and you swore you could read all the excitement he had because of your surprised expression.

“Yuu… How could you remember all my favourite characters? I mean, it’s inhumanly impossible. Are you an alien?” You asked, blinking twice, as you saw his grin becoming ever bigger.

He scratched his neck as he just mumbled. “Well, you showed me so many times their faces that I just remembered them more than my favourite ones. I was sure that you would like them, knowing that you’re stuck to bed because of your flu and not at the convention.”

Your vision started to blur, as tears threatened to run over your cheeks, you couldn’t believe how could you date someone so amazing and loving as Yuuji. He was truly the best boyfriend ever.

The pink-haired man panicked when he saw your tears as he tried to cheer you up the best as he could, while he dried your tears with the sleeve of his hoodie.

It took you a few minutes to calm down, and now you were still in the bed, Yuuji with you, as his arms were wrapped around your waist, cheek pressed on top of your head. You tried to stop him, fearing he would get sick, but Yuuji didn’t listen, saying that he couldn’t get sick. After a few more protests, you gave in. How could you say no to him?

While cuddling, you opened the other bags, gasping and thanking profusely Yuuji for the plushes, gadgets and mangas he bought. And of course, you scolded him for spending so much money just for you! You didn’t like that he focused only on you, he should have enjoyed the convention for himself too!

“But I knew that you wanted to go there more than me, of course I had to buy you those things, I didn’t want to see your sad face because you missed out this opportunity.”

You swore your heart was shot by Cupid’s arrow once again, how could Yuuji be so romantic and caring towards you? He was truly a treasure.

A box peeked up from the last bag, your curiosity was picked, as you grabbed the box to discover that it was a Nendoroid. You didn’t recognize the character, nor did you remember ever talking about such anime. Maybe Yuuji watched it, and he just bought it, maybe you could suggest watching it together, so you could understand why he bought that specific character.

Yuuji’s eyes landed on the box in your hands, a sheepish smile blossomed as his cheeks went warm. An embarrassed chuckle left his lips before he took from your hands, before looking fondly at you, then at the character in the box.

“Yuu, why did you buy this character? Do you like her design? I mean, it’s adorable, she looks like a magical girl. “You asked as you looked closely at the character. Only now, you noticed that she had your same hair colour and the same was for her eyes. It was a curious coincidence; however, it wasn’t strange that you shared physical traits with a character, it could happen sometimes.

Yuuji’s smile softened when he saw you looking at the figure, before ruffling sweetly your hair.

“I don’t know her or the anime she is from… I just bought it because she reminds me of you. I thought that if I bought her, I could always have my lovely (Name) always with me, even if you aren’t with me physically.” He concluded, as his cheeks were reddish.

Your heart was once again hit by a Cupid’s arrow as you stared at Yuuji and his red cheeks, and you swore to yourself that sooner or later you would put a damned ring on his finger and marry him.

Suddenly you pulled him in your arms, now your flu the last of your problems, as he was laying on your chest, while you peppered his face with kisses and sweet praises. Yuuji melt in your embrace as he just let you smoother him with affection and physical touches.

And today too, Yuuji proved how much he loved you.

Bonus

A sneeze followed by a cough were enough to anger the fragile temper of a certain pink-haired twin, especially if the disturbance of his pace was his idiotic twin. Sukuna glared at his sick twin, who was laying on the couch, being babied by their older brother, Choso.

Sukuna wondered how stupid Yuuji could be sometimes, as he asked himself how he could be the twin of such an idiot, he was clearly the better one. (Choso may say otherwise, but Sukuna didn’t care)

Another loud sneeze irked Sukuna, as he turned his head towards his twin.“You fucking brat! If you fuck-”

“Sukuna! Language!” Choso screamed.

And another lovely day at the Itadori household began like that.

Speaking of Kalim, Since Kalim got a boost at serotonin at your arrival. It basically gave Jamil more of a headache, everyday he has to pray to the seven to make him through the day with a bombarding pain in the head. But rest assure, he does find your Kalim cosplay nice (You might not have the same level lf energy as Kalim, but its better. And he secretly likes the outfit shh-)

Kalim will basically cling around you at break, basically trying to get you know better! Jamil wont mind as long as you keep him under control (give him a break please. Its been like that since 17 years)

Will give you the finest fabric materies, wigs, accessories, makeup—you name it, he'll buy it! He just wants to see you cosplaying. He might even ask you if he can cosplay with you! Its seems really fun :D

When Kalim saw you WITHOUT your cosplay, he finds it amazing how you do your makeup and hid some of your features. Will ask you if you could use him as a makeup mannequin

HOW MAGNIFIQUE! I swear you will hear Rook start praising your cosplay. Vil will find it amazing, leaving small compliments every now and then.

You and Vil teach other more makeup techniques when you do each other's makeup. Rook also spying in because he wants to see this beautiful moment.

Vil also gives you some accessories that the cosplayer missed or something. Some additionals if hes interested in adding, Cue Rook complimenting you even more!

Rook calls you Roi de S'habiller, because of your ability to cosplay. He'll ask you to cosplay him (if you agree on it).

Epel thinks your Vil cosplay is nice as long as you don't act like him. Your impressions of him are impressive he wont lie. Maybe its too good that he almost gaslighted himself into thinking its the Real Vil... (Might give you some of his makeup that he doesnt really use... If Vil doesnt notice...)

Vil sees you without your cosplay, he'll definitely compliment your looks. Also might try to put some makeup on you again, he keeps putting random serums and moisturizers on your face while he tells you about it. He's having a field day with it (Now you know Epel's suffering)

Hes having a meltdown just seeing you cosplay him! Ortho has to try to calm down his excited ALOT. If you have someone (cosplah buddy) that cosplays Ortho, Idia will also expload in happiness while Ortho will be happy in a way.

If you somehow designed your Ipad case to look like his own, you have dedication i swear! Even Idia himself doesnt have the motivation like that. He praises and respects you! He basically admires you! He literally is so shock that you just walk around in anime conventions looking like him!

He'll definitely ask you if you could cosplay with him, better say yes!

Hes having so many emotions cascading through his veins that he stopped working... Will ask you to do his makeup, he feels like you're better at it than him. Maybe if he got a small boost of confidence— he might take a photo with you both in cosplay.

Of course, Idia knows that youre a cosplayer and you dont actually look like that. He wont lie, you are pretty without your cosplays on (Ortho agrees too!). Hes having a lot of fun with you because hes not the only otaku around anymore! (Ortho's glad his brother has a friend now)

Prepare for Sebek's obnoxious loud speeches how it's so disrespectful to dress up (i doubt Sebek knows the word "cosplay" and just refers to it as "dress up") as his liege. Lilia will just laugh at the scene while Silver questions or sleeps through it, but really— Malleus appreciates the efforts you put into that cosplay. More time goes by, Sebek MIGHT warm up to your cosplay and admire it too! But he will never say that.

Lilia will also ask you how you manage to make Malleus' features, while you rant about the process you made to make his features (like his horns). Sebek might listen in, i mean— its Malleus we're talking here of course he'll be here.

Malleus does compliment your labour on the outfit, he knows that his clothes are complicated (even if its just his normal casual attire). Will spice your outfit more by putting some magical features here and there! Oh is your cape suddenly floating,, i wonder who put that there hm?

Lilia enjoys your cosplays, he asks if he could cosplay with you or make him a cosplay. Now you got two gremlins together doing dress up in a different font.

Silver likes your cosplay, hes sleepy so he doesnt get much out of it soo he's just there.

You were making the last touches to your Port Mafia Dazai (age fifteen) cosplay, when you hear a ping.

Another message from someone. You looked at your phone.

Classmates

Hey, [y/n], have uwu watch cawtoons today? Aw. Wittwe kiddo need hew daiwy dose of cawtoons awnd toys.

You sigh. Your classmates were annoying. As usual. After they learned about your love of anime and cosplay, they started picking on you. You don't know why they continue doing it. They have learned about it seven months ago! Can't they move on?

But, you stay silent. You didn't speak about it to teachers or your parents. You don't want to be a bother. Classmates were just annoying. They didn't cross the line.

You always liked anime. You liked animation and different stories. You liked characters and soundtracks.

And, thanks to The Internet, you have learned about fandom. And cosplay.

You fell in love with cosplay. Your parents, while thinking, that you were childish, let you go enjoy your new hobby. They let you attend anime conventions in a cosplay.

Yes, they think, that it was childish, but, at least, their daughter wasn't smoking or drinking. Or doing something else, that can lead to trouble.

Yes, there was your older brother... Comments. Laughing. Notes.

During anime conventions, you preferred to stay 'silent'. You wear cosplay, buy merch, didn't participate in competition and don't allow people to take pictures with you.

Seven months ago, your cousins invited you to a convention. And their mother took a picture with you three wearing cosplays. And posted it online. Somehow, your classmates learned about it.

And the bulling starts.

Notes, uwu language, laughing.

And your brother saw it as a sigh.

He tried to sabotage your cosplays.

He could pour paint on costumes. Or cut them with scissors.

And your parents ignored his behavior. Maybe, they saw it as normal sibling rivalry. They were too busy with their work to pay attention to all of your problems.

And, when one time you told them about your brother's bullying, they told you to deal with it on your own. Because you must protect your 'childish' hobby on your own.

You shake your head, chasing away unwanted thoughts.

You were almost done with the costume. You have opened BSD Mayoi app and choose Port Mafia Dazai (age fifteen) card for a reference.

Normally, you would hide your cosplay in your wardrobe. But you left for two minutes to drink some water.

How it was enough time to do this?

It was torn apart, coated in paint.

Your brother looked pleased with himself. He walked past you, laughing.

"Grown up. Use these rugs for a real female job. Clean this mess. You can thank me later, sis. And..."

He pulled your hair.

"Don't you dare to cosplay a male character ever again."

He left your room.

You wanted to yell at him. To hit him.

But you were afraid.

You just cried.

You didn't notice, how your phone start glowing.

You didn't notice, how BSD Cast appeared in your room.

You felt, how Oda carefully wiped away your tears.

Your room weren't big enough for all of them, but, all of you managed to settle down.

After some fear, disbelief, talking Bram's head, some screaming and squeezing half-transfoed Atsushi's paws, you finally called down enough to listen to Fukuzawa's and Fitzgerald's explanation.

It was a lot to take in.

You whispered. You were uncomfortable to be in a middle of attention.

"Wh-what will you do next?"

Fitzgerald spoke, his voice was soft.

"We will stay in this world. We will live here. And..." Fitzgerald looked at you and smiled. "I won't beat around the bush. We want to adopt you. So you can live with us."

You opened your mouth and looked at Fitzgerald. Then at the rest of BSD Cast. You were waiting for them to burst into laughing. But all of them looked serious. Fitzgerald spoke again.

"We won't force you to stay with us, if you don't want to. We are fine with being with family or just friends for you. If you don't want to see us after today, we won't ever bother you. If you choose to stay with us, we won't be against you visiting your parents and brother."

Fitzgerald looked at the remains of your cosplay.

"And... No matter, what you choose, we want to help you with your bulling problem.

You looked down. You whispered again.

"Can I think about it? About living with you."

Fitzgerald nodded.

"Take your time."

You looked around your new room. It was big and cozy. You even have a workshop area for your cosplay.

After some thinking, you agreed to stay with BSD Cast. Fitzgerald, somehow, managed to convince your parents to let you stay with them.

You keep in contact with your parents, have daily calls with them and visit them on weekends.

You also changed school. Not before Tachihara and Kuyoka had some talk with your former classmates. After the talk, they apologized to you.

As for your brother...

You flinched under your brother's glare. You were wearing new Fifteen-year-old Dazai's cosplay.

"What did I tell you about cosplaying a male character? Wha...?"

Your brother's eyes widen, when he saw Fukuzawa in Koyouou's cosplay and Fukuchi in Mitchell's cosplay behind you.

Fukuchi glared at your brother.

"So... You are against the idea of your sister cosplaying a male character? So, do you have something to say for our cosplay of female characters?"

Ever since then, your brother was avoiding you. And he was still paying you back for every cosplay he destroyed.

You have a cosplay costume to finish.

Soon you and BSD Cast will attend a Comic Con. You were sure, that you will get some attention. And you were fine with it. As long as BSD Cast stay near you.

You smiled.

You were happy.

You weren't laughed at for liking cosplay and anime.

You have the support of your new family.

I was rewatching some episodes of Bleach a few months back and I still have a fondness for it. It's one of the first animes I ever watched at all, though I never got very far past that first big Soul Society arc; I used to watch episodes on TV as a kid with my family and I saw cool Bleach cosplays and other stuff frequently at anime conventions. I have a general idea of what happens later thanks to some fanfiction and other forms of Fandom Osmosis.

And I realized while listening to the episodes play in the background that I had... no idea where Urahara's kids came from??? Why are there two children just living with the former Soul Society captains??? I'd never gotten that far (if it was revealed in the main manga or anime at all) and had never come across the information in fanworks or on the few wiki pages that I'd browsed. So, I looked it up on a wiki, and it turns out that Ururu and Jinta are artificial souls like Nemu (this is revealed in one of the novels). Which made sense! I'd been expecting something like that or adoption of random spirit-sensitive humans (this was my guess) or whatever.

But it does make me wonder HOW something like that happened... and also WHY? It's very funny to me that someone in the Urahara-Yoruichi-Tessai throuple (non-canon to my knowledge, unfortunately) apparently decided that they wanted kids (with superpowers, of course) and Urahara just... made some. (Or Urahara was just experimenting and then decided to raise his mad science experiments properly. Maybe it was a "I can do ANYTHING better than that fucker Kurotsutchi and I'll fucking prove it" kind of thing.) Ururu and Jinta are Ichigo's younger sisters' age (uh, maybe, hard to know with artificial souls), so it kind of looks like this mad scientist babymaking went down after Ichigo was born.

My mind keeps going back to that "Text your partner: 'I want a baby'" meme from several years ago as a fic idea.

You had all decided to go out to a local bar together to get some drinks and food. It had been a hard week of training and a few short missions which had made everyone tired and ready for a break. Gojo had ‘graciously’ decided to let you all have a night and following morning off, sighting that you had technically all been working hard and as long as you all behaved out he saw no reason you couldn’t unwind.

And the night HAD been going well. Nobara, Maki and yourself had enjoyed getting dolled up for a change, though Maki initially dragged her feet. And since there was a cosplay convention going on in the town Panda was able to join you all as well. Why he decided to dress as Po was something Megumi wouldn’t understand. You and Yuji got some good laughs from it though. And Yuji and Toge even managed to swipe a bit of booze from Gojo’s hidden stash in his office. It was only enough for a light buzz for everyone but still a treat.

It only started to go down hill later in the night. The place you had all gone to was getting more and more crowded. Yuji, Toge, Megumi and Panda were all in a back booth waiting for you, Nobara and Maki to finish getting everyone a refill on drinks and another blooming onion, which Yuji was overjoyed that they had.

“My my what pretty little ladies we have here tonight,” some creepy guy and his two friends came up behind you cutting off an easy escape.

“Drop dead,” Maki replied.

“Damn,” He put his hands on his chest. “No need to be so heartless, love. We just wanted to offer you sexy things some company.”

“I’d rather die alone,” Nobara rolled her eyes. “Get lost. Try it on someone else.”

“We’ll come on now,” He began to get agitated. “You three can’t be looking that fine and not expect some attention.”

“We did,” you nodded. “Just hopped it’d be from someone better looking than you three.”

“Now listen here-“ He grabbed your forearm and that’s when it all went down hill. The four boys became looming shadows over them. “Who the hell are you guys?”

“We’re their friends,” Yuji sneered.

“And if you know what’s good for you,” Panda added. “You’ll let go of Y/N right now.”

He pulled you closer, and the damn heels Nobara convinced you to wear let him, putting everyone even more on edge. “Like hell am i gonna listen to a furry. Besides, I think this one was just saying how she wanted to come home with me tonight, right sweat heart?”

“Eat shit,” you snapped trying to pull yourself free.

“That’s it, you have till-“ Megumi began, only to be cut off my Toge who was stepping forward.

He pulled his scarf down to his chin, making you all clamp your hands over your ears, as he put a hand on the shower of the guy holding you. He leaned in and whispered in his ear. You couldn’t hear but you read his lips as he told the man to “Shit your pants now.”

You were quickly let go as he went sprinting out the bar, holding his ass and screaming, his friends following him.

Everyone watched them go, lowing their hands as Toge pulled up his scarf. “Uh, thanks.” You smiled at him.

He shrugged, looking away with a blush, “Salmon.”

“Let me get you a drink, any you want,” you warped your arms around his pulling him to the bar. “As a thank you to soothe your throat.”

Maybe the night didn’t go so bad after all.

You were pre packing your art for the convention that was happening in the city over from where you and Hanzo live. Hanzo knew you love to sell your art at conventions.

“Y/N, how long will you be gone?”

“I will only be gone from Thursday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. I like to set up on Thursday since there won’t be a lot of people there.”

You finished packing your fourth bag of your art. You then start to pack your clothes. Hanzo sighs.

“You can come to the convention with me if you would like to. They said that I could bring an extra person if I wanted to.”

Silence filled the air as you packed your clothes. After a few minutes you heard another suitcase zipper unzip and you look over to see Hanzo packing his casual clothes. You smile as you finally finished and you two pack the car. Once you two get to the hotel you check in and bring in your luggage. It was Wednesday so you had time to relax before tomorrow.

~Thursday~

You and Hanzo go to the convention center with the four bags of your art and your banner. You and Hanzo get your lanyards and ID’s then you two head to the artist alley. Hanzo was setting up the banner while you set up the table. After you two set up you take a step back to see if you need to fix anything.

“I think it looks nice, Y/N.”

“Thank you, Hanzo.”

He takes it in and realizes that most of your art is based off his dragons. Like the plushies, the prints, the stickers, and the patches. They look similar but don’t look exactly like his dragons. He lets the two little reptiles out and tells them to be careful. You laugh at the two reptiles trying to intimidate the plushies.

~Friday and Saturday~

Hanzo was nervous at first with all of the people coming to your booth. He felt that way because he kept thinking someone would recognize him. You reassured him that no one will because they will probably think he’s just cosplaying as himself. And that’s exactly what happened. He eventually took over the card reader, the prints, and plushies. While you handled the cash, stickers, and patches. You two finally had a break to go eat something.

“I don’t know how you do that by yourself, Y/N. I swear you must have a secret.”

You laugh

“I wish. I think it got easier after a couple of conventions. Like after the 5th or 10th convention. But I think it’s easier with you.”

Hanzo was happier since it was a chill day. You two ended up selling out of the plushies and prints by the end of the day. Hanzo made sure to take note of what you two didn’t sell. You did take a lot of pictures with your fans. After you two packed up, got your other bags, checked out, and packed the car you were finally going home.

“I think I would love to do that again.”

“You would?”

“Of course. It was fun.”

“Maybe we could do a couples cosplay together for the next one.”

Comic Fiesta 2023 Anime Convention Experience Log - With Photos!

Hey there! After posting my previous experience log on Anime Fest+ 2024, I realized I'd shared photos from Comic Fiesta 2023 on Twitter but never did on Tumblr. Since this happened way back in late December 2023, I've forgotten a good portion of my experience there (I have unfortunately the memory of a goldfish) - so it'll mostly be photos of the crowd and MXTX cosplayers, whom I have some loose commentary on based on what I remember from our very short and random interactions.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this as an MDZS/TGCF fan as much as I do! I spent only a few hours there, but I did have a good time hunting down cosplays from the MXTX fandom during that time.

I'll begin with pictures of the crowd. If you don't already know, Comic Fiesta is an anime convention held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, Malaysia, and it's one of the oldest here too. As of 2023, it's opened its doors to roughly 70,000 attendees, which is rather big considering our country's quite small in size. I've heard from my friend that there are attendees from overseas too, namely Singapore and Indonesia, due to the famous people the organizers tend to invite, so it does make sense that it's grown this large over time.

While the convention itself is held indoors, there's a large park outside where cosplayers tend to hang around and take pictures. A number of people don't buy tickets and go into the convention hall either - and I get why; the last time I was in the hall, I was squashed like a sardine, and not the fancy kind, either. We're a sweaty bunch after a good whole morning of lining up.

Anyway, the park is very pretty, as well as mostly green and neatly trimmed:

It's at this park where you can get the best shots of cosplayers, and find some space to line up for photos of them.

It's got this giant Christmas tree up at around this time of year too, which is super wonderful:

With that aside, I'll get to the cosplays. Let's start off with my favorite best girl of all time, Jiang Yanli:

I'll admit I was both surprised and stoked to see a Jiang Yanli cosplayer around! She seemed pretty surprised too to have someone ask her for a picture - she was taking one with two elaborate bride cosplays, but as I'm a fangirl with heaps of love for Yanli, I thought she shone like the brightest star at that event. You go, Claire!

Next up is our boy Xie Lian, who seems to get quite a number of cosplays done of him:

These two came together and were looking for wild, lone San Lang cosplayers to catch in Pokemon battle-like sequences respectively. Sadly, as it goes in the BL cosplay world, there's always a shortage of gong/top/seme cosplayers in a con. Everyone wants to be the beauty, it seems, and quite understandably too.

That said, here's another beauteous Xie Lian cosplay:

Anyway, no Xie Lian is complete without a Hua Cheng by his side in any event, so here's the obligatory couple cosplay I saw by the escalators when I got up to the entrance:

This particular Hua Cheng cosplayer's one of the first dudes I've seen doing TGCF cosplay, which is pretty interesting considering the reception of BL by male anime fans in my country hasn't been... the best - or the kindest, from personal experience. But I'm happy to see it and would like to take this as a positive sign of changing times where our BL fandom gets more mixed in demographics.

Speaking of HuaHuas, here's a particularly fun and cheerful one:

When I told this HuaHua that there were Xie Lians looking to form a couple, I was told that they already have a Xie Lian of their own! Again, HuaHuas are in great shortage! You'll definitely get a lot of attention dressed as him as he's both very flashy and coveted in the danmei cosplay scene as a character.

Moving along, here's a pic of my favorite best boy Jin Ling, the snazziest and most golden young master in the universe:

This particular cosplayer was kind enough to humor me at a crowded, fast-paced subway. We managed to find a quieter spot to take a picture. Look at how pretty it looks, bless! 😍 I'm so glad Jin Ling got some representation as a side character. He's absolutely the best!

On cue are his uncles, the twin heroes of Yunmeng, Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian (whom Jin Ling will probably deny is his uncle, but hey, Mo Xuanyu's body will uncle him however he wants):

The duo came with their own professional photographer, who also doubled as their translator (thank you, photographer man!). This Jiang Cheng's also the softest, gentlest and shyest Jiang Cheng I've ever met in my life. Legs are safe when he's around since he won't be breaking them anytime soon!

Next on the itinerary are our not-so-elusive, staple-of-any-con Wei Wuxians:

I dub this guy the Balenciaga Wei Wuxian, because, you know, I took his photo right in front of Balenciaga and he looked like the richest Wei Wuxian cosplayer there. No joke - his outfit even had pleather, and he'd spent about 270 bucks on it. I saw it up-close since he was pretty friendly. His arm bracers even had details sewn onto them instead of just being prints! Talk about luxury! I coughed up jealousy like blood from my mouth.

The outfit is from CQL, but he knows MDZS too. I'm familiar with the donghua but too lazy to finish it, so he's definitely put me to shame here as a fan as well, blast him!

Last but not least, we have kitty ears Wei Wuxian (a.k.a. Lan Wangji's Incense Burner Dream #965):

Now, I won't lie - I first thought they were wolf ears. But as Wei Wuxian does not like dogs of any kind, nature or breed, I'm going to assume that these are feline ears.

Whatever ears they are, though, Lan Wangji will be sure to get hot and toasty seeing them. Wei Ying, you devil you.

Short Story Prompt: You were stunned - then you feel your throat close up.

You were shocked to find a genuine live horse in front of you. The horse even appears to be staring back at you! When you hear it huff and heave the dirt path with its hoof, you jump a little and hold your hiking supplies close.

The rider whose voice you knew called out to you earlier caressed the horse's side soothingly. When you finally glanced at him fully, you locked in his eyes, which seemed to draw you in, and you felt an unintentional flush on your cheeks.

Hey, it's not your fault that not many guys in your life have glanced your way, which is unfortunate.

And wait... were those elf ears??

Was there a cosplay convention nearby? If so, this guy would certainly be the winner because a real live horse always win by a landslide in contests.

You didn't realize you were in a mini-staring contest until he chuckles in… amusement?

You look at him as the rider shakes his head in thinking before smiling at you.

"Ah, I apologize for being disrespectful. My name is Link. Do you happen to be lost, Miss...?" The rider who is now Link raises a peaceful hand while fixing his green hat on his head. It appeared worn along the edges, and there was a charred hole on the side of it, letting some of his disarrayed hair peeking out.

Now that I think about it, his entire outfit appears to be a little charred, like as if he was walking along a volcano route.

You give him a wary glance, your cheeks flushed, before saying, "I'm (Y/n). Can you tell me where I am?"

Link tilts his head, a puzzled expression on his face, and responds, "You're on the east side of Hyrule, next to Death Mountain."

He gestures down the path, and you can see a tall mountain--no, a volcano--in the distance. How in the world did you miss that?!

You look around you frantically. There have been no landmarks that looked familiar to you whatsoever.

You thought the leaf creature you saw was just a hallucination from your nasty fall.

You were stunned - then you feel your throat close up.

Plus, there's no such thing as a place call Hyrule.

But this is real.

This can't be true…

This must be a nightmare…

That's all there is to it.

You were knocked out by a severe fall while trekking in the mountains, and you were caught in a dream coma or whatever…

Link saw your pale complexion, the dark look that came over your eyes and he gave you a worried glance.

You were shaking.

"Miss (Y/n), are you-?"

This can't-

"This must be a dream."

Your vision starts to blur.

You clutch your head and collapse to your knees, your chest gradually heaving.

Your hiking supplies clatter to the ground. But you didn't care.

A tightening coil was taking shape.

It's difficult to breathe.

"I…where am I?"

You believe you hear Link cry out to you in worry and a horse neigh, but there's a buzz in your ear.

"Where...? This can't-"

It's difficult to-

Someone is standing in front of you. Hands softly touch your shoulders, yet you hear breathing (?) between the buzzing.

You…unconsciously follow that respiration in your dazed head.

Out...

In...

Out...

You began to regain feeling, and as the soft grasp on your shoulders loosened, a calming hand began to rub your back.

When you regain your composure after your panic attack, you notice Link is kneeling by you, a gentle sweet smile on his face.

"Is there anything I can do for you, miss (Y/n)?"

His voice was gentle and…kind. You were more at ease and content. Link was too kind.

"I'm…sorry. I'm truly sorry. You were helping me and I just-"

Link grinned and softly shook his head.

"This isn't the first time this has happened...I was in your shoes before as well."

Your face breaks into a gradual smile. You were still reeling from the idea that you weren't where you should have been and in unfamiliar territory, but Link's companionship was immensely appreciated.

With his horse now behind you, you and Link look at each other and you cannot help but think-

What a meeting.

Now you were suddenly transported into twisted wonderland in your Riddle Rosehearts cosplay. This was supposed to be the day you were going to have a fun convention day with your friends who cosplayed the other Heartslabyul members. Now that you literally get to face the actual Riddle Rosehearts. You were definitely fuming with embarrassment! You laughed uncannily, the other members of Heartslabyul still incoherent shock. Especially Ace

You try to blabber out some excuses WHY you were wearing Riddle's dorm outfit! Riddle was much confused but slightly impressed. The makeup was nice, the styling of the wig was impressive. Especially the details in his atrocious outfit (if you handmade it of course).

God damnit! You were basically dying in embarrassment, you can't possibly say to Riddle that he is a fictional character in a game! No that knowledge is definitely unbearable to someone like him. But you couldn't find anymore words to describe your current predicament; your only chance was to tell.. Half of the truth!

"W-Well.. Your a famous favorite... Character back in my.. World! People loved your personality, they find you.. "

Now how to describe this? How the hell do you say something about it! Riddle was shocked. He wasn't expecting people to like his personality knowing how stern he was before his overblot.. Or even now!

You mostly spend the following hours in your Riddle cosplay, what would make it even funnier is when you and riddle would walk together, you two look the same but the only difference was in height. Obviously you were taller than Riddle. But you really slayed in those heels!

Of course, when you finally took off your Riddle cosplay was when he actually saw you. He felt like he got tricked because aint no wait some of your features just disappeared! (Your makeup skills were too good, professional catfisher!..)

Well shit. This is awkward. Its not everyday you face the character you were literally cosplaying as... You found feel a rush of embarrassment go through your head. You were wearing the fairy gala outfit of Leona with a high ponytail (because before being suddenly sucked into Twisted Wonderland. You were sweating in your cosplay and decided to put your wig up in a ponytail because it was thick)

Leona only looked at you and laughed. Okay now, this was more embarrassing than you expected. Your cosplay was a bit incomplete if you could say. You couldn't find any damn white shoes to match the outfit so EARNESTLY and EVEN SO DESPERATELY asked your own mother to borrow her silly heels that she wore on her wedding, but fuck that was like... More than a decade, thats for sure. Somehow it kinda fits you, same shoe size or whatever. It definitely caught Leona's attention knowing how you're almost at his height, yet just kick off a few more centimeters then you'll reach it!

Ruggie feels constipated seeing two Leonas sit in one room. Goddamit! Now he has to grab for two of them! Oh? One of them is real nice for no absolute reason? A nice Leona feels like a nightmare, but he'll take wha he can get. Since you can't get out of your silly cosplay, you were forcibly going around the campus with your fairy gala cosplay. A bit embarrassing but it has a few perks, people who didnt knew it was the fake Leona would have had probably been shaling their boots off. A little threatening to have something wont hurt right? Nahh, they wont know anyways. You were a Ruggie in disguise.

Sometimes, Leona would point details you missed. Like oh! You forgot this or you literally forgot to add that. He just wanted to seen as a perfect piece of art. If your cosplay is 100% handmade, he is secretly impressed by your dedication and motivation. What? This took you 6 months? HALF A YEAR? His respect kinda went up a bit. If you cosplay with your friends and family, maybe tell some stories about you and your friend/cousin/sibling dressing up as Falena and doing the scene from Lion King with your younger sibling/short friend. "Whats the Lion King Scene?" All the braincells probably left out of your brain because oh my fucking god, all you hear in your head is "LONG LIVE THE KING.." and you know.. yeah... You went silent after that, you cannot say that. Moving on!

When Leona saw you out of your cosplay, he was still secretly impressed over your makeup skills; not one for makeup himself but he just finds that you can literally become another person just with makeup impressive but he wont dare say it out loud. Professional catfisher am i right?

Oh you cosplayed Azul? Hes fine on the outside but screaming in the inside. If the world allows you, you might hear him scream.

Jade and Floyd finds you pretty cool. You cosplayed Azul and you looked so silly and cool in it!

If you were a chubby cosplayer, Azul will scream at this point. An actual scream (not because hes scared or anything. Hes having a plentiful of positive emotions rushing through his brain.)

He will check your cosplay too! Checking every detail. Saying this like "impressive" "amazing labor!" He would definitely be shock on how much time it took you , even if his outfit is easily to replicate. Your broke ass decided to take it the hard way andake it by scratch because no money will be wasted generously.

Please show your Azul impression. He actually kinda wants to see it. If you do silly things in your Azul cosplay. He's gonna be slightly embarrassed but at some point, he might get used to it.

DID I HEAR THAT CLEARLY?! YOU MADE A PROP OF AZUL'S GOLDEN CONTRACT?! He looks at it with awe. Even though it just glossy yellow paper with some writings, its still very nice you went this far for something as someone like him.

You two will roam the hallways asking for contracts now! Just kidding (if you want to :3)

When Azul saw you without your cosplay, he still finds you amazing in your skills of makeup and stylization. Not everyone can transform themselves into another person with makeup and a measly brush no?

The internet—especially Twitter—desperately tried to figure out if Tom’s girlfriend would be with him during the German Comic Con, mostly because someone started to spread the rumors of sightings of YN at the New Yorker Comic Con as well as the Dallas Fan Festival. But none of the fans actually saw her, so the rumor that YN was seen in Germany spread like wildfire on social media. On the first day of Comic Con, Twitter was flooded by tweets looking for the still kinda mysterious woman because barely anything was known about her.

Tom just sent another of his lovely fans off after he had signed a deluxe edition of The Sandman—the same one he had standing on his shelve at home—and wanted to greet the next one with a smile, as movements behind him distracted the man from the people in front of him. Slightly, he turned in his seat to check if everything was alright back where his convention assistant stood, who helped him stick to his schedule, but was taken by surprise at the sight of a very familiar and very loved face.

YN had stuck her head from behind the dividers, her face glowing, her eyes shining, and her lips forming into a wide smile. “Hey, handsome,” she greeted him with her signature soft voice he still fell head over heels with every single day all over again. “Hello, love.” She thanked the dark-haired assistant silently as he let her pass to get to Tom at his table. She grinned and looked from him to his waiting fans, gently waving in their direction. Instantly, YN received wide smiles, eager faces, and waves in return, accompanied by a handful of shy Hey, YN greetings. “I’m almost already gone again and will let him dedicate his attention back to you, guys. I only need one second if that’s alright with you?” She felt like intruding, but she wanted to check up on him, see if he needed anything she could get for him, and gladly, everyone in front of them nodded heavily.

YN didn’t even mind the phone cameras sneakily directed at them and their interaction.

And with that, she turned back to Tom, who stared up at her with a tender smile on his beautiful face. The woman couldn’t stop her hands from cradling his jaw and caressing through the mop of dark unruly hair after she had put down the steaming hot to-go cup she had brought with her. “Brought you some tea, love. Thought you could use a cup, and I got you—” YN let go of him to rummage through the black tote bag she carried on her right shoulder and conjured a bag of snacks out of there. “—some snacks. There is this stall in one of the other halls which sells dried fruits and nuts, so I got you something from there, and I also got you a little something from the bakery I went to before I drove here.” The bag found its new spot in his hands, and the man continued to stare up at her, entirely in awe of how she took care of him even though she wasn’t obliged to do so. His love for this woman continued to grow every day, but today, it reached a new all-time high.

Never in his life had he felt this loved and cherished, and he adored how they both took care of one another. And YN was a strong side and pillar to lean against during the last couple of weeks, always holding up with his busy schedule, always being there and traveling with him. But Tom knew how happy she’d be as soon as they headed home on Sunday night—just as happy as he would be. He loved to see all his fans, especially after the whole covid situation where conventions like this weren’t even thinkable, but after so many weeks, he craved the comfort and quietness of their shared home.

Blinking up at her, Tom showed another small smile. “You didn’t have to…—” was all he could push out before a finger found his lips and silenced him immediately. YN softly grinned at him and pressed an even softer kiss to his forehead. “Please, don’t be silly. I told you I would pop in here and there to check up on you and bring you some treats. But I gonna leave now, yeah? Let you get back to all those lovely people.” He really didn’t want to let her go just yet but knew that it was the most responsible thing. He would have her for the rest of his life, after all. So he nodded but raised from his chair to hold her for a second. The man didn’t even see the many phones pointed at them, didn’t even hear the voice from the other table shouting something about photos in German.

YN smiled up at him, now smaller than him, and let her arms wrap around his slim waist while his arms rested around her shoulders. “What are you up to now? Any appointments?” He wiggled sillily with his dark brows because he knew of all the many tickets in her tote, even though she believed to be as sneaky as possible about it, and made the woman laugh snortingly. “Well, y’know? Jus’ some hot dates with some people. Sandwiched between Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, for example.” Now it was YN’s turn to wiggle her eyebrows and make Tom laugh softly under his breath. “I knew it,” he teased her, and the woman only grinned. “But seriously, I only have a couple of tickets for some photos, and I wanted to check out the artist alley upstairs. I will be back sooner than you think.”

After all, she only was a writer and author of steaming hot romance novels and poems about every aspect of life, and to see her longtime silly crushes? That was an opportunity she couldn’t let pass, even though she knew some of them personally, like Charlie and Elden, but she loved to surprise them.

Tom nodded at that and pressed a kiss to her temple, not daring to kiss her in front of all those people. However, he really wanted to because she was just this pretty in her comfortable convention outfit, consisting of some denim jeans and her favorite hoodie—which was actually his hoodie. “I hope you have fun, darling, and don’t forget to drink enough, ‘promise?” YN cooed lowly, cupped his cheek, and kissed the corner of his mouth before smiling up at him. “Of course, love. Don’t forget your tea. If you need anything else, just send me a text.” And with that, they parted from each other, and YN walked smiling along the line of waiting people before one of them almost shouted: “We love you, YN!”

With blushing cheeks, the woman waved lightly, feeling her heartbeat fasten, and disappeared between the other waiting people.

yes, the plans that i could not share with you (because the haters would sabotage me) were that i was taking on LACC in my vash getup :)

i have so few pictures of myself but i got so many compliments (especially on my arm) and plenty of other people took pictures of me. and normally i don't like attention but i will be honest with u. under these circumstances i loved it. my arm held up really well through 8 hours on the convention floor and i have never been prouder of anything i've made. it's articulated incredibly well, no part of it gave out or required repair, it's never uncomfortable or a nuisance to wear, and i have enough range of motion to do relatively complex things like tying my shoes.

originally i was not planning to try to meet anyone famous because 1) it's expensive and 2) the lines are long and 3) i feel weird and annoying approaching literally anyone for any reason BUT. the spot where i met up with my sister just happened to be right next to johnny yong bosch's table. right when he started signing things. so i said LOL ok i'll do it.

it was super chill, i asked him how it felt to get the call that they wanted him to come back 20 years later for a trigun reboot and he said it almost didn't happen -- that since they recast everyone else for stampede they considered recasting vash as well (and i said WOW i'm so glad they didn't) and he said he really enjoyed getting to come back and explore a darker take (i forget if what he said was a darker take on vash's character, or just a darker trigun in general) but it was briefly surprising 2 me that he considered stampede to be a darker version but i get it, especially when u consider that there is not a lot of comedy in those 12 episodes to balance out the grief.

ANYWAY he was impressed with my arm and i asked him if he would sign my coat :) so he signed the lining but he was also like u know what, i'm gonna give you a second autograph just because. so he signed a print for me as well (free of charge!!) and the print with the blue signature matches my famous paintings that i always film in front of (that's providence baybee)

i saw 3 other vash cosplayers (a 98 vash, a stampede vash, and a purple coat vash) and no shade but i definitely had the best arm build. peace and love to all of them though

i saw 1 1/2 wolfwoods. 1 was the aforementioned mullet wolfwood from yesterday's post (ww if you’re out there ww) and the 1/2 was the 98 vash cosplayer’s gf in some kind of goth-ish dress and she was carrying a punisher

mullet wolfwood if you're out there i regret not getting a picture with you so much. i am deeply ashamed and i have no excuse because i ran into you twice and both times i was too embarrassed to ask for a picture. i just want you to know that your punisher was swag and your earrings were yolo and we would look very good together

i expected to see a lot more trigun tbh. los angeles where u at. 4 vashies at a convention of 120,000+ people is nothing. one guy even walked up to me like wow i love ur vash, i haven't seen a lot of trigun at this con and i was like I KNOW i thought i'd see a lot more

theeeee costume of all time award goes to the cad bane cosplayer i saw on the balcony. spare hand in marriage dude (gn) you looked so good

second place for costume of all time goes to the other mother cosplayer who had button eyes and these crazy finger appendages and never once broke character even while waiting in lines

i took 100 points of psychic damage from this one guy who (and im not kidding) was at least 6’4’’ and wearing platform boots and was dressed as the mfing onceler. with the stupid top hat he was fr 7+ feet tall (i saw him duck to get through a doorway).

someone was there as the brawny paper towel guy?? just walking around in a beard and flannel carrying a pack of paper towel rolls?? go off king

i saw 5 nightwing cosplayers but only 2 were biblically accurate (had ass)

the nanami sweep at this convention was so real u all SHOWED UP. and everybody ate. i saw at least 12 nanamis and not one of them was a flop.

i have never seen so many spider-mans in my life

fig. 3: i saw all 4 hobbits in panel and can confirm elijah wood’s laugh is ten times more infectious in real life. before they were even done sitting down, dominic monaghan switched around all of their name cards so that none of them were seated behind the right name. as u might imagine much of the panel's content was reminiscing about LOTR, but i heard some stories that i hadn't heard before. they also talked about video games, other projects they are working/have worked on, how their kids feel about their dads' LOTR roles, how much they love ian mckellen, and how they would love to see something happen for the 20th anniversary of ROTK this year. sean astin (the legend) took shots at the stranger things writers (basically said joyce could never be happy with hopper) AND EVERYONE CLAPPED LOL. billy and dom talked about the best food in NZ, their show billy and dom eat the world, and the unfortunate events that led to the friendship onion's hiatus. it was a ton of fun to just watch them be themselves with each other, you can tell that these guys are all so fond of each other and love each other so much.

Okay, I realised that last post was cryptic and vague. For an early birthday gift, Stoat took me to our local con this year, which featured cast members from: Charmed Supernatural Dr Who Sons of Anarchy ... ...... .......and Smallville, amongst others. Michael Rosenbaum was wonderfully kind and generous, smiled a lot during our conversation, signed my photo to both myself and Beth {as himself *and* Lex Luthor} and thanked *me* while I was trying to thank him, even though I was losing my voice and Stoat had to step into the conversation for me.

A good time was had by all, we met many fun people, had great conversations with writers and artists, bought fun things, have presents for others here in upcoming birthdays and holidays, we got stalked by Darth Vader, saw someone who cosplayed as an 8ft tall Wookie... and got some tasty treats from a food truck owned by a lovely mother/daughter from Maui, Hawai'i.

The down side was the 3rd floor parking spot in the garage, and then the 3 floors of the convention centre that was all stairs because literally none of the elevators were in service until the end of the day as we were leaving. So six hours of hiking, walking up and down very long flights of stairs, no sitting areas, etc. Best day ever. Some take-aways though. Surprised the heck out of me how short some of these people are {{Both Julian Richings/Death from Spn, and Sean Patrick Flannery were my height or shorter}} Some of the professional wrestlers there {{Booker T. who was fabulous and so animated and charming, Kevin Nash who is quite possibly one of the tallest people I've ever seen}} and having a ball with their fans. It was just amazing.
