Philza is not an old man. Not nearly as old as he looks.
And perhaps there is a story to that. (And perhaps that story begins with a curly haired boy looking to him for guidance). (And perhaps that story ends tragically with Philza losing the boy who was nearly a son to him.) However, that is a story for another day.
But maybe there’s a story after that. And maybe that story begins with a pink haired boy and his brother looking to him for guidance. (And maybe that story ends happily).
That is a story for today.
--------------------------------
Philza is not an old man. But he is a man, and a weak one at that.
It’s storming tonight and storm’s always make him melancholic. They offer memories once joyful, twisting them, so they serve as a reminder of his failures.
It’s a knock on his door that tears Phil from his brooding.
When he opens the door to see two young boys before him, soaked to the bone with the elder’s hands sparking, he knows what they’re there for. And he feels some of his will crumble away before they can even speak.
“Please,” The child in front of him croaks, the smaller one peaking from behind his knees “Please I need help. I can’t control it and they said you could help. I just, anything, anything at all I just need to be able to control it”
It’s a familiar plee. But Philza has traveled down this path before, and he knows how this story ends.
“I can’t,” He whispers, quiet yet audible through the storm “I won’t” The boys before him look crestfallen. The sparks from the older boy’s hands grow more frantic, and he clenches them harder in response. Phil understands, to come so far only to be denied must be soul crushing.
And perhaps it’s the storm that makes him do this, maybe it’s the feeling of nostalgia, but Phil steps aside urging the children inside.
“Stay for the night, it’s far too dangerous to begin your journey back tonight.
And as Philza sits them down by the fire, feeds them, clothes them and learns their names (Technoblade, but you can call him Techno, the one with uncontrollable magic and Tommy, actually it’s Tommy Careful Danger Kraken Innit yes that’s his real name Techno, the one with a mouth worse than most sailors Phil soon learns), he feels his determination to send them away in the morn crumble further and further.
Still, for this night and every night after, Phil wonders if he’s doing the right thing bringing them in.
(Many months later Phil will realize that it was one of the best things he ever did)

Hi Ashley! I just binged all your warrior nun fanfics and all I wanna say is thank you so much for your stories. They are awesome. This might be a dumb question but how many unfinished AUs do you have in your drafts cuz I also write and I can say I have like 12 lmao, so I was wondering if there are some that you just couldn't get in the mood to write or something like that.
omg so many, i have at least a dozen starters in my drafts that i could never fully get into or were shifted into something else
golden hour was actually two different fics that i merged together into one and there are plenty of others like a cult au that has maybe 200 words and outlines for so many other ideas
my friend @fiddleabout and i have spent DAYS just making up avatrice au's together, it's such a blast and a few of them have become full fledged fics but a lot of them just sit in our discord channel waiting for the right inspiration lol

what if i just left this here
summary:
Out of all the possible scenarios to take place at the fortress, Cal never once thought about Darth kriffing Vader showing up and flipping the plan on its head, leaving him completely and utterly lost and admittedly, terrified. He was alone, well, almost alone. Trilla was dead and Cere was nowhere to be found and Cal was standing facing the Shadow of the Empire. The feared Sith Lord who brought nothing but death, fear and despair wherever he went. ~~ [or - cal's encounter with vader in the inquisitorius, except it plays out a little differently, resulting in the story forever changed.]
basically a silly little self indulgent star wars au which i'll be posting as oneshots / short fics - aka, due to lack of time to write a fully fledged fic i'm just writing the parts and scenes i wanna write. the full au summary is in the series notes :))
snippet below the cut !!!
~~
It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
The plan had been simple, or, as simple as it could be. Break into the Inquisitorius, retrieve the Holocron from Trilla and escape with minimal damage. But unsurprisingly, like everything in Cal’s life, it all had to go abruptly wrong in so many different ways. Perhaps it was his fault for not really taking the one thing that could mess up his plan into account, that maybe he should've added another plan just in case. But no, he hadn't, and it had really come back to haunt him.
Because out of all the possible scenarios to take place at the fortress, Cal never once thought about Darth kriffing Vader showing up and flipping the plan on its head, leaving him completely and utterly lost and admittedly, terrified. He was alone, well, almost alone. Trilla was dead and Cere was nowhere to be found and Cal was standing facing the Shadow of the Empire. The feared Sith Lord who brought nothing but death, fear and despair wherever he went. He'd tried running, knowing full well he couldn't take someone so powerful by himself, but now he’d found himself backed into a corner with no way out.
It wasn't supposed to be like this, Cal thought, as he raised his saber with an unsteady hold.
He was exhausted. His disheveled appearance was enough to show that. There was a sheen of sweat on his forehead dampening his hair, his breathing came out sharp and heavy after running and exerting himself with overuse of the Force. He knew Vader could sense that. He was an easy target now, he could kill him with a lazy flick of his finger and that would be it. The death of Cal Kestis, a former Jedi Padawan who let his Master die, who died himself at the hands of a Sith just like countless others had. He knew that he shouldn't feel angry at that, but with how tired he felt, how damned scared — he wasn't exactly able to keep his emotions in check, he didn't see the point of releasing said emotions into the Force either, not when he was just moments away from death. He failed everyone. His Master, Cere, those Force sensitive younglings who were now in danger because of him.
He was a lousy excuse for a Jedi. He wasn't even that, not officially.
The thing that managed to drag him out of his thoughts was a shrill, frantic beep from BD-1. The droid still clung to his shoulder, perched in a crouch, Cal could feel the vibrations from his tiny body — he was scared too. He felt guilty for thinking he wouldn't die alone at least. But he hoped maybe BD could escape, find Cere and the Holocron and make up for his stupid mistakes. Cal stared ahead at the looming figure of Darth Vader before him, trying his best to appear brave, but his facade was crumbling and he felt so tired. He prayed that it would be over quickly with minimal pain, which was less than what he deserved, in his own personal opinion.
“Surrender now, or die. ” Vader’s deep voice rumbled from the vocoder in his mask, his heavy breathing echoed across the walls of the Inquisitorius.
Cal swallowed thickly, shifting his stance slightly. “Sorry, but no thanks.” He quipped lamely, his voice wavered, his fear betraying him.
“It is pointless to resist,” Vader told him. “Either fall like the Jedi before you, or submit and perhaps the Empire will forgive you for your negligence.”
“With all due respect–” which is none “–I’d rather be a traitor to the Empire than one of your little lap dogs.” Cal’s own confidence surprised him, he didn’t question it, he hoped it would last.
“Your insolence will be your downfall.” Vader growled. “However, I sense potential, it would be a shame to put it to waste. You have spirit, too much for a Jedi, perfect for an Inquisitor.”
“Again, not interested in joining your merry little band of sithspawn.”
“So many have said, but if you will not join of your own volition, there are ways of breaking you instead.”

Tumblr media
i fucking do AHHHHH
i wanna find time to write this out fully in a full fledged fic but alfkfkfkkd life is hitting me constantly and i know this bitch of an idea is gonna be multichaptered
anyway
so the thing with macavity is that he is a "failed experiment." an experiment with the purpose of someone possessing two large scale superpowers instead of one for the sake and good of humanity. macavity was planned to be a symbol of power and hope. he was chosen due to his immense capabilities and strength, bearing the power of fire. his skills were quickly noticed by the government officials and it was then set that he'd be the top choice to go through something like this. macavity had ambition to be the top in the world, to be the world's best hero who would save all. his father and brothers could not stop him from going on. he needed to be better than everyone and prove that he was. he was going to make his father proud.
however, that experiment went horribly wrong. the main area was for macavity to develop powers involving the mind, but the pain and stress was too unbearable that it ruined him. he was given too much that he couldnt take. he managed to gain the second power of mind control and manipulation, however it was flawed. he could only handle it for so long without losing the strength and energy. the officials called him a "failure", a "disappointment." it ruined macavity's vision of the world and the need for superheroes. superpowered people were nothing but a shitshow and a public image. if you couldn't be enough, then you were nothing more than a monster thrown into a dumpster.
a little years later, a secret group tried to recreate the macavity experiment. with enough research, they discovered a potential candidate, a young tom who was blessed with the gift of controlling light energy. since this was a hidden secret and illegal, the group kidnapped this young tom away from his family and he never saw them again.
the tom was now put through hell, going through the same unbearable pain that macavity went through during those years, except with more added effort. the young tom was educated to be a genius, to have his intelligence become exceptional. this new hidden experiment was deemed successful. this young tom not only had the power to control light energy, but to conjure up items at will, including himself and others. he could do it without fail, no setbacks. he was the perfect being.
however, this experiment being illegal, the group was caught by the government officials. they were arrested on the spot.
the subject? disappeared. he managed to teleport away before he could be discovered.
the tom, now an adult, had nowhere to go. he lived by himself. the stress from the experimentation caused him to forget who he was before he was taken away, only small blurs crossed his memory. he was no one except a cat with the capabilities of two extremely strong powers.
if there was one thing this tom liked to do, he admired the heroes of the jellicle association. the deeds they would do, the cats they would save. they did it for good and for the good of the city. if only they were there when he was underground.
he took an interest to a certain hero. "the rum tum tugger" they called him. a cat of extraordinary strength. he would save queens and toms with such charisma and humor, the tom couldn't help but be intrigued by it. he didn't understand why.
he saw the hero on night patrol, that night, another tomcat with almost similar strength as that hero attacked him. the hero almost lost until the tom decided to step in, saving the hero. the two ended up meeting gazes and the tom could never forget the feeling that overtook his senses. the adrenaline of using his powers for good to save someone, and that someone being someone he had admired for so long. the hero wanted to come near him, but the fear that the tom had of being discovered and taken away again returned and he ran away.
but ever since then, the tom has been there to look out for the hero, that "rum tum tugger," to protect him from faraway. maybe one day he would reveal himself to him and give him information on what he knows.
or something like that idk but kekfkdkd hope you liked it pfft, i'll maybe write something about it one day

BIG NOTICE!
Tumblr media
((HI all 211 of you! You may have noticed the several year hiatus!
It's a long story for me, and a very personal one. Due to Fandom drift this blog was sort of abandoned. Then two years ago I went through a medical crisis that caused memory loss and cognitive decline, along with leaving me unable to use my hands enough to draw. I've had to relearn a lot!
Recently I've gotten back into art and while I'm still only distantly in the mha fandom, I do still love it and this AU inparticular!
Some notes:
I want to continue this blog rn! Yall have sent some fun shit in and motivation to draw is hard to come by, so the fact that yall make me wanna draw up this shit is big.
My art has changed a bit! I'm still shaky on a lot of things! I like to think it's not THAT different, but there's still a visible change
The fic will not be continued! Memory loss hits weird and continuing a funny art blog with a dubious timeline is different than a fully fledged fanfic with the intentions of a plot I can't even remember. My writing style has changed WAY more than my art has.
That is all for now! I will try to put a few things out soon! Thank you everyone for the love this silly chaotic AU has gotten over the years even in my absence!))

so I’ve been writing this au where Hibiki survives the events of Utsuroshima’s killing game, which happens earlier in the timeline so she and Yuki end up in the middle of the mess that was Towa XD (aka drae and sdra2 crossover time!)
it’s also told in a textfic on ao3 cuz I dont have the budget for a fully fledged fic and I like textfics, thought it’d be cool to write one as a story
Anyways here’s them, Yuki is so done with everything while Hibiki is enjoying the shenanigans (and also me trying my best to give characters alt outfits, I liked drawing Hibiki’s gradient jacket and necklace)

random au i thought of while writing shit (minor spoilers for jrwi)
i dont think any of us have forgotten that gill can just make a water horse and ollie named it puddle. however, what if gillion decided to try and teach ollie magic? and it seems like ollie isnt doing too well...until they reach shaping water. ollie still struggles a lot with it, until they hear a familiar voice which throws ollie off and he lets his concentration go but he tries again and it comes back and gillion is shocked to see that by trying to learn shape water ollie learns to "summon horse" but not just any horse to be more specific hes learned "summon puddle"
wanna see how that may be written? i do too, so lets see!:
"YOU HEARD THAT, RIGHT GILLION?!" Oliver couldn't even believe it. He couldn't even get any spell right, yet here he was, infront of a puddle, yelling at a wide eyed Gillion in awe.
"Y-yeah, yes I did young Oliver! This didn't happen when I tried learning it..." Gill was snapped out of his trance and started thinking. "Try it again. I doubt he'll fully form due to certain ritual needs but still, let's see."
Ollie nodded and tried again, the spark in his eyes back as he felt a serge of energy fill him. Gillion couldn't help but smile proudly as he knew that look all too well, it was the same way he got when he was about to get into an epic battle. He thought that this is what Chip must feel always when he's with Oliver.
The water slowly rised again, looking like a slime blob rising up. Ollie was struggling to get it up, until he heard a voice in his head, one of encouragement, strangely in Gillion's voice.
"YOU GOT THIS OLIVER, I BELIEVE IN YOU!" Ollie kept on raising it, smiling. "Thanks for the encouragement Gill!" he told him.
"Do keep concentrating still since your doing great, but I haven't said anything. " Gillion told him. Ollie, now thinking about it, realized that the voice sounded like it was gargling, and knew immediately who it was. "Never mind then." Oliver laughed at his mistake as the water finally rose up all the way up, dripping a bit as it floated.
"I'll be ready to return you to your normal form soon Puddle."
ill be making this for sure into a full fledged fic sometime after my scu fic (also the scu one will probs be my only multi chapter fics, the rest for sure will be oneshots srry)

the talia anon here!
thanks for that reading list! I think I might start with the arrowfam bc I'm very intrigued by Dinah's character. honestly, the reason why I didn't ask about the mystics is bc I have never encountered them with whatever DC content I have consumed (which is not a lot) and I want to expand to something I'm familiar with first
I'm currently going through both preboot Talia and postboot robins which are drastically different with its talia (like SOTD Talia giving up her son for adoption so he can be something more and won't have to grow up the shadow of The Demon and The Bat vs Tomasi's Batman and Robin Talia that purposefully raised Damian in the league). honestly give me the ick.
unfortunately, the existence of Damian really did ruin what Talia could have been, but I wanna ask (you can totally ignore this portion of the ask if you're too uncomfortable, I'm just intrigued by what you have to say) how do you think Damian and OG talia can co-exist in current canon?
i know there's a person writing a fic about how while talia has her whole lexcorp era ra's kidnaps damian and raises him. Once Talia finds out she gets Damian out and brings him to Bruce (I haven't read it, but I know of its existence). I honestly prioritize Talia's character over Damian's since she was created first and I am 100% ok with Damian's characterization being mellowed out a bit, so it doesn't show Talia horribly, something to show that Talia did try to protect him (it'll be like that quote that said "just because you mother didn't break all the generational curses doesn't mean she didn't break any") talia knows how bad it is to be raised in LOA, so she needs something to make her stay IMO. maybe Ra's promises to be a better grandfather than he was a father, maybe there are external threats to Damian that talia really can't deal with without LOA's resources or something to do with Nyssa (I am so intrigued by the sisters. i want to see the mess of emotions that comes with them interacting. i really do think Nyssa would hate Talia because of Ra's, but talia would just like to hang out with her like the youngest child she is)
now im just rambling but you get the gist
Hello again!!!!!
Ahh so with Dinah, I would recommend Longbow Hunters, then jump into GA Vol 2 and then maybe Birds of Prey (where she shines outside of the family)!! There are other appearances but unfortunately they’re not the best representation of her character (cough GA/BC)
Also yeah totally understandable with mystics!! They really do have a VERY different vibe than majority of the DCU, and it is super enjoyable, but also a little complicated and difficult to get into at first.
Yeah thinking about Talia’s deterioration upsets me a lot. In addition to raising Damian, there were a lot of really gross, unnecessary changes that undermined what she had gone through. Like she was a canon SA victim, and then they have the audacity to make her a rapist herself in the most uncharacteristic way possible. It’s so so so gross.
I agree with you though, I absolutely do prioritize Talia’s characterization over Damian’s. She was a fully fledged character created before him with so much relevance to not just Batman, but the DCU. I love Damian!! But he was also essentially an OC created for a storyline with an agenda that has grown to invalidate adoptive relationships. I’m NOT saying I wanna get rid of Damian, but if I had to choose between them, I’m picking Talia personally. 100%.
THAT is an interesting question because I don’t quite have a solid answer myself yet. I know what AU you’re talking about, and I like that idea a lot! But something about it also rings hollow to me?? If that makes sense??? In a personal sense, I feel like it also absolves Talia of a lot of agency and action, and I would rather her character be in a more proactive position.
And I also think Talia would be a lot smarter and more clever in making sure there was absolutely no way Ras would ever find her baby. So the AU does undermine her a bit, in my personal opinion.
However I think the most integral part of Damian’s character is the way that he revolves around the concept of redemption, especially as an abused child. So it also feels very wrong to take away from that, since it’s such a core aspect to him.
So there’s the conundrum.
GAHHH it’s hard thinking of ideas that will do both of them justice, unless you completely revamp Damian’s character.
Maybe Talia stays in the league with Damian and under the guise of being loyal to Ras, she’s actually secretly plotting to take him and the whole League down. She keeps as much of a watchful eye on Damian as she can, but she’s not perfect and she also wants him to be able to fend for himself. So if he has to learn the harshest ways of survival and combat, so be it. (Talia logic not mine). Talia doesn’t raise Damian to be proud of the League or his Grandfather. She keeps him aware of what she’s planning and why they have to do that. She tells him about Bruce (just like in canon) but makes sure Damian knows until the time is right, he can’t meet his father. Plans get messed up, Talia’s big idea goes haywire because of an outside party, and nowhere near her is safe for Damian. Except for Bruce.
So kind of adapted from canon except less evil weird eugenics rapey storyline, and something that gives Talia a bit of autonomy. Damian would also have less of a brainwashed League personality while still carrying trauma and mixed feelings towards his family. I don’t think Talia would be a perfect mother. I think she’d try her best in the way she knew best, and unfortunately, her way is not that great. But most importantly, she would want Damian to have a better future than she did. If it meant enduring 10 years of the League, she’d make that sacrifice.
Other possible idea: Talia was a med student going to University of Cairo in her early appearances. I kind of like the idea of her becoming a traveling medical personal bringing Damian alongside her, except they’re both hiding their identities. Again, it wouldn’t be picture perfect, she’d still make sure he was aware of the dangers in life. But I feel like they’d have an interesting story that way.
Or maybe she kills Ras, escapes the League, the new leader of the League is like whatever and just leaves it alone, and she just openly raises Damian in the realm of Lexcorps business and politics lmao. Little baby Damian wearing a suit and attending meetings on his mom’s lap while she verbally assassinates men.

Void Fog (Cosmic Horror AU), Part 1
A summary of everything we have so far.
All the information here is already available, but I haven’t updated the AU storyline since April, so I’m making this post for completeness’ sake.
- The eldritch abomination is an entity that has existed for millennia. It resides in the space between worlds- the Infinite dimension.
- It's only true desire is to consume.
- It’ll consume anything, but it’s particularly drawn to worlds that have been, or are currently inhabited by players. Considering the practically infinite amount of worlds (seeds), these are difficult to come by.
- The Hermit’s pattern of moving between different worlds has allowed them to unintentionally evade the Entity.
- It’s able to enter minds and control people to some extent, usually with the goal of finding other worlds and entering them.
    - EX was exiled to a blank void world within the infinite dimension. Though he couldn’t travel beyond the void world, he could sometimes access the rest of the infinite dimension through his dreams. The Entity established a psychic link between them by preying on his insecurities (which, all things considered, is a huge can of worms).
    - When EX managed to escape using his unstable admin powers, the Entity was able to locate the Hermitcraft server and bring forth the apocalypse.
Meta plot stuff:
- From a meta standpoint, it’s kind of difficult to pinpoint when the story takes place, and write a lot of it beyond what’s happening to EX. He was banned from the server in March 2019, and stayed in the void world for an extended period of time. By the time EX manages to get back onto the server, it could be any time during S7, but likely in the future, when the world has been developed a bit more.
- Some elements of the story will change as the season goes on so that it can fit into the context of S7
- The story mostly focuses on EX, so unless a canon story arc has elements of alternate dimensions (eg Area 77) or the supernatural (eg Demise), then the ‘Hermit’ side of the story is unlikely to have a major impact on the story as a whole. If EX comes back in canon, then the circumstances of how he does so will be incorporated into the AU.
World notes:
- X and EX have admin powers. EX barely knows how to use his and as such, lacks control. For example, he might try to summon a few stacks of a particular block, and end up summoning too much or too little.

- EX’s powers can be influenced by his emotions. When upset, he has a tendency to teleport all over the place and cause lighting glitches, lag, and other errors. His ability to teleport and travel between dimensions is also unstable.
- The Entity would’ve found the Hermitcraft server sooner or later. If the Hermits extended Season 6 into Sixfinity, they would’ve attracted its attention. If Doc had kept using the infinity portal to access other servers, then it’s likely that he would’ve run into the Entity at some point, and this whole apocalypse mess would’ve happened anyway.

Exile:

- When he was banned, EX was sent to a creative superflat dimension outside of normal worlds. No structures generated there, and the floor was made up entirely of blue glass. He spent most of his time trying not to think too hard about the isolation, and instead turned to building nonstop.

- His main ‘base’ was an ever expanding rustic house. He spent some time with NPG before getting banned and was taught how to build in a rustic style, which is what he’s most comfortable with. The house has gotten exceptionally large, and is near impossible to navigate due to its erratic floor plan.

- EX also spent a lot of time sleeping, because the less time he spent conscious and aware of the usual passage of time, the better. However due to the nature of the void world he was exiled to, he could enter other dimensions in the Infinite (infinite dimension) through his dreamscape, as could the Entity.
- Isolation did not help EX deal with his fears and insecurities in the slightest. Often he’d find himself thinking about the circumstances of his exile, no matter how hard he tried not to. The fear that everyone hated him, that he had pushed everyone away with his evil schemes and rash decisions, that even if the Hermits were nice to him, they would never truly consider him to be their friend- it consumed him.
It was only natural that they would never trust him- he lied and stole from them, after all. He deserved it, but realising that was a permanent blow to their faith in him stung far more than he anticipated.
Often he found himself questioning every relationship and interaction he’s had with other people. Was he too aggressive with the tag game? Did he forget to say goodbye to Pixl and Zloy that one time? Did he bore NPG with his rambling about Worm Man?
How long ago did X consider banishing him? Was it when he fell into old habits and reached out to press the button that would supposedly destroy the server? Was it then and there that X decided that he’d never be ‘good’, or was the decision the result of smaller mishaps? Was it when he over steeped their tea that one time? Was it when he caught himself slipping into a ranty, dramatic monologue? He recounted every stupid, impulsive decision he’d ever made, replayed it in his head hundreds of times, wracking his brain for answers he knew he’d never get.
- Over time, EX’s dreams became increasingly vivid. Most of them devolved into nightmares of phasing through fog, smoke, and crowds of vaguely recognisable people and ruined cities. Occasionally he dreamt of the dimensions in the Infinite- with its fleets of ships, endless libraries, and whispered orders.
- As he began to remember more of the dreams, EX noticed the near-constant shadowy presence that encompassed everything and nothing at the same time. He made a conscious effort to ignore it, but like all his other decisions to *not* think about something, it never truly worked. Most of the time, he was able to somewhat focus on his surroundings, but it’s when he dreamt of the Hermitcraft server that the presence was impossible to ignore.
- The presence never named itself, but disturbing as it was, EX felt compelled to trust it.
EX’s return to the Server
- EX was found at the base of an unfamiliar Nether portal. X and Joe theorised that he collapsed from the transition between game modes and exhaustion from forcing himself onto the Season 7 server.
- From the moment EX returned to the server, some of the Hermits reported incidences of objects disappearing and chunk errors. Some claimed that the layouts of their bases shifted as they walked through them.
- Joe asked around different villages to see if these incidents were constant across the server. Most of the reports tied back to folklore of an entity seen by those who travelled between dimensions.
More World Notes:
- Some of the Hermits have made contact or communicated with Higher Beings (e.g. Cub and Scar with the Vex, or EX with the ‘evil voice in his head’), but they are less powerful than the Entity.
- The Hermits are a group of interdimensional travellers. Each Season takes place on a different planet or in a similar alternate dimension
Infodump Continuation: Season Seven
Story note: Particular locations and events aren’t specific for the sake of flexibility, as the story takes place further into S7.
- Some of the Hermits reported incidents of chunk errors and missing entities. A few hours later, EX was found unconscious in front of an unfamiliar Nether portal.
    - The portal was removed for the sake of clarity within the nether hub.
- EX was brought to Xisuma’s base and his reappearance was discussed during a server meeting.
- Xisuma and Joe began to investigate the cause of the reported errors. X spent hours poring over the server’s code, and Joe started asking around some villages to see if the errors were consistent across the server.
- EX didn’t wake up for a long time. Some theorised that he was exhausted from the transition between game modes and forcing himself back onto the server. Keralis and Stress mainly watched over him, and would occasionally pop in to see if he was okay. Sometimes they found him tossing and turning, but he only somewhat responded to outside stimulus.
- Joe returned, and EX woke up a few hours later. After a well needed shower and hot meal, Joe took him in and asked him to explain what happened. EX gave his ‘statement’, and began to help Joe with the investigation.
    - EX talked a lot about consistent nightmares and how the dark presence didn’t go away, even if he was on the server. In fact, it seemed to whisper to him now.
- EX spent the next week or so trying to adjust to living in the Overworld. Everything was too bright and dark at the same time and called attention to itself. Sometimes he felt that the air was too full of particles. Sounds were louder than they had the right to be.
- While EX was recovering from his time in exile, the investigation was mostly reading written tomes of folklore and reports of errors in libraries.
- EX continued to suffer from frequent nightmares, and it got to the point where he was hesitant to sleep, and tried to stay awake for as long as possible. It didn’t help. Joe found him sleepwalking and muttering about searching for something, but couldn’t make out what he was searching for.
- EX grew increasingly worried about the dark presence and voices he heard in his dreams, and freaked out a bit when Joe told him about the sleepwalking. Joe offered to lock the door to EX’s room from the outside- it might not have directly helped with the problem, but it helped him feel more at ease.

Cut to black by bioloyg - cacw era sort of pre relationship/relationship building
double back by flowermasters - sam gets stuck in a time loop in the 1940s
Kestrel in Distress by bioloyg - sam gets kidnapped, lots of hurt, lots of comfort.
things just aint the same (any time the hunter gets captured by the game) by oh_no_oh_dear - magical realism/magic traits/sam wingfic (a really incredible fic that my art was fortunate enough to be attached to)
Perfect Landing by mischiefmanager - Post endgame, Bucky goes to live with Sam in Washington, and perhaps is a bit of an idiot.
To the Full Moon and Back by glittercake - werewolf au + small town
i wanna savour it, save it for later by caramelle - sam runs a food truck, and is getting a bit annoyed by some three star reviews from a certain critic. Good thing one of his regulars Bucky, certainly not the critic in question o.o, is around for him to complain to...
Access Granted by Suaine - Redwing develops awareness, and develops several directives. Including getting sam and bucky together.
making amends by oh_no_oh_dear - set during tfatws around ep 5, acts of service aplenty by one bucky barnes for sam wilson.
winter, Sweetheart by wilsonsnest - winter soldier!sam wilson, and they're partners under hydra control
Spin Cycle™ by bioloyg - sam and bucky working through their shit in the middle of the night at a laundromat
Listen, as I said this isn't an exhaustive list, and I've certainly left off some solid authors who love and respect both sam and bucky and write them as fully fledged, three dimensional characters. There is plenty more out there, but this is a nice starting place!

Daddy Issues
(i dont post this au in any specific order, i just write random parts of the story when they come to me. maybe i'll write a fully fledged out fic, some day)
Characters: Tommy, Techno, Philza, Wilbur (mentioned)
Pairings/Dynamics: Sleepybois inc, Parental, Familial
[CW: Yelling, Death/Injury ment, crying]
Word count: 428
"You hate me just say you hate me!" "Tommy, i dont hate you ! why are you acting like th-"
"You know how important this was to me y-you knew and your still taking it away!"
Tommy spoke inbetween cries, the argument had been going on for about 10 minutes but it felt like hours Techno had been sitting on the couch taking sips of a soda periodically, listening to his father and brother figure argue in the other room with a blank expression.
"Tommy you broke your arm i cant keep encouraging you to-!.. i cant keep condoning you hurting yourself. I cant-"
"So you're hurting me instead?!"
"Im not going to let you keep killing yourself! what happens if you get trapped and I cant come get you, or you get too badly injured or..worse-. Do you have any idea what that would do to me? To Wilbur?? I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to you-!"
"Nothing like thats going to happen if you just give me the support gear I /need/ and you know that! Its because I dont have a quirk isnt it just say it say-!"
"Tommy thats enough! Im not giving you anymore support gear and thats the end of it!"
Tommy pulled back and held back more tears, before pushing Phil out of his way and running off.
Phil pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed heavily, leaning against the corner of a wall.
Techno silently walks into the dining room, hearing the fight was over
"..Hes got a point, yknow."
"Jesus- Tech you scared me dont sneak up on me like that"
"Sorry." the pig mutant said shrugging "..Phil, you realize hes gonna keep sneaking out no matter what, right?"
"..yeah, yeah I know..I dont know how to stop him that boy is one of the most stubborn kids I know,"
"So, if theres no way of stopping him or convincing him otherwise... why not give him more support gear, just as harm reduction?"
"Because, Techno if something happens-"
"If something happens that gear could be the difference that saves his life."
"..I'll think about it."
"Thats all im asking.
..You know he thinks the world of you and Will, right? "
"Yeah, yeah i know" Phil chuckles a little bitter sweetly "Ever since he could talk its always been 'i want to be a hero like you and buba, i wanna help people' he always thought it was the coolest thing in the world.."
"..I'll follow him next time he sneaks out. "
"..Thank you, Techno"

'GODDAMN IT!'
Adora jumped, getting tangled up in her sheets and falling off her bed, absolutely startled.
"H-Hello?" She lifted the bedsheet off her head and looked around, seeing nothing but her empty room. Her eyes raked over the place, briefly inspecting her messy desk, walls filled with pictures, and the dark computer screen on her nightstand. Nothing.
'God, that hurt.'
Adora jumped again. "Hope? Mara?" She looked out her bedroom door and peered into the hallway. The light of her adoptive mothers' room was off and there were no signs of movement from the kitchen.
"Okay," Adora said out loud, trying to reassure herself. "I'm sure it's just the neighbors or something. Maybe I'm still half asleep and dreaming. Just go back to bed and you'll be fine." She climbed into her bed and pulled up the covers, hiding her face in her blanket and closing her eyes.
'Catra, you have to be more careful, you idiot. Ugh, that really hurt.'
Okay. That was definitely something and it was definitely not the neighbors. Adora checked her phone. Did she leave something playing? 'What is going on??'
'Woah! Who's there?'
Adora froze. The voice was in her head. No doubt about it. And… the voice heard her, too? Adora rubbed her forehead, too tired to think properly.
Then it dawned on her. She's hearing someone's thoughts. And they're hearing hers. It's her soulmate.
'Ummmm,' Adora thought, hoping it would reach them. 'Hi. I'm Adora and I think we're soulmates.'
'Oh… hi.'
Adora didn't know what to say. How do you just strike up conversation with your newly found soulmate at one in the morning? 'Are you okay?'
'You heard that?' The voice groaned.
'Yeah, it was kinda hard to ignore a loud curse waking me up in the middle of the night.'
'Oh, god, sorry. Yes, I am alright. I just stubbed my toe trying to get to the kitchen.'
They stayed in awkward silence, or at least what would be awkward silence if they couldn't read each other's minds. So instead, the pause in conversation was actually filled with quieter thought fragments of them both acknowledging the awkward pause. It was very... awkward.
'So… your name is Catra?'
'What? How'd you know?'
'Mind reading, remember? I heard you scold yourself earlier.'
'Oh. Yeah, I'm Catra.' She paused. 'I would offer to let you sleep, but seeing as you can read my mind and we don't know how to stop that, do you wanna... talk?'
'Yeah,' Adora smiled, 'that would be fun.'
They spent the next hour talking about themselves and their lives. Adora told Catra about Mara and Hope, how she came to live with them after her parents died when she was a kid. She told her about Bow, and Glimmer, and all her other school friends. In turn, Catra told Adora about how her parents were from Peru and how she grew up speaking spanish. She talked about how she just moved and was going to start 8th grade at a new school.
'Where'd you move to?' Adora asked.
'This town called Etheria.'
'Etheria? Oh my god, I live here! What school are you going to?'
'Whispering Woods Middle School.'
'I go there! That means we'll get to meet soon!' Adora was suddenly very excited and she could feel that Catra was, too, by the buzzing in her mind.
'Wow, I can't wait! I-'
Catra was silent. And this time silent meant silent. Adora tried searching her mind to no avail for any trace of Catra.
'Okay. Guess our connection dropped out. Goodnight, Catra, even if you can't hear me.'
~♡~
'Stop being so anxious, I can physically feel you buzzing.'
'Hey! It's not so often that you get to meet your soulmate!' Adora smiled in the car on the way to the first day of school.
'We've been talking all summer and we've seen pictures of each other. It's not that big of a deal.'
But Adora could read Catra's mind, hear and feel her thoughts, and everything she was picking up on indicated that Catra was just as excited as she was.
Hope pulled the car up to the front of the school and stopped in the drop off zone. She and Mara turned around to look at Adora.
"Okay, sweetie!" Mara said. "First day of 8th grade! Good luck!" She reached over to give Adora a warm but awkward hug as the center console was in the way.
"And have fun meeting, Catra!" Hope added. "I'm so glad you found your soulmate. It's the best." She smiled over at Mara, who pressed a quick kiss to her wife's cheek.
"Thanks, guys!" Adora said, getting out of the car and closing the door behind her.
"We love you!" Mara called from the open window.
"Love you!" Adora responded, turning on her heels and walking into the building. 'Now to find Catra,' she thought.
'You know you could just ask me where I am, idiot,' Catra's voice chimed in warmly.
'Okay, okay, where are you?'
"Right here."
'That's not helpful.' Adora frowned.
Catra laughed. "You're such an idiot."
'What-' Adora froze. "Oh my god," she said, spinning around to see Catra grinning at her.
"Hey, Adora."
"Catra!" Adora lunged at her and hugged Catra tightly, picking her up and spinning her around.
Catra laughed again. "Okay, Adora, no need for the rom-com dramatics."
Adora put her down, trying and failing to push down the blush that was spreading to her cheeks. "I'm just so excited."
"I know," Catra smiled, "me, too."
She and Adora went to homeroom, which they had together (thank you, universe). Adora smiled at the sight of Catra actually in front of her. She never wanted it to end.
~♡~
Adora was laying down in the grass, looking up at the clouds and trying to find shapes. She found one that looked like a bat and pointed at it. "Look, that one looks like-"
"A bat," Catra finished for her. "I know, I can hear your thoughts."
"Oh, right." She searched for another interestingly shaped cloud.
It was the summer vacation before their sophomore year of high school. The two of them were in Adora's backyard, laying down after eating their picnic lunch. Mara had made cream cheese sandwiches and Hope had cut a watermelon into little cubes for them. Catra and Adora helped them make strawberry mint lemonade.
Catra raised her arm and pointed at another cloud. 'That one looks like Kyle fell down and a bird landed on his head.'
Adora laughed. 'It does!'
'Adora?'
She turned to look at Catra. 'Yeah?'
Catra leaned over and closed her eyes, her breath hitched in her chest. 'Oh, god.' That wasn't meant for Adora to hear, but they hadn't quite mastered their soul bond and Catra was too nervous to use any energy to stop her thoughts from traveling to Adora's mind.
Adora caught on and smiled, closing her own eyes and meeting Catra halfway. They kissed, very gently and hesitantly, but sweetly. It tasted like watermelon and mint.

Fall and Catch!! I love soulmate aus so like sign me up for it but yours can be dangerous (moonshine dripped colors? Cried for it. I'm baby) I almost cried for this because of how sweet and lovely it was though. And i audibly laughed a few times. It was a very light fanfic!!! It's just really evident how great of a writer you are. the care and value you put into the setup, into the intricate details that makeup the world you are striving to create. I think it was a nice change of pace when -🍋
compared to other smaus because some others make the bond a really sacred thing and some make it mean nothing. Your take was a midpoint between the two and focused a lot on the funner lighthearted aspects. You also provided a different take on that type of soulmate bond, points that i never really considered “Not in the way people would think, she just needed to feel him…not skin to skin, but at least…soul with soul, connected with the art of watercolors that united them… But separated them -🍋
as well once the other washed off the drawings.” This was so impactful when i read it. And i just really feel like you explain things so beautifully, so whole, and i don’t know, really create a sense of desperation? to always see the world as such, if that makes sense. The way you described touch, water, weather and colors, all of your words create a picture i wanna get lost in. Not all of the words are nice? favorable?(when the reader is mean to herself or doubtful) but they are captivating -🍋
When the scene in which they discuss meeting comes about i felt the weight of the situation it was worrying but hopeful. And the way you made them find out that they are soulmates was really smart!! Omfh the relationship was also relaxed and enjoyable. When Johnny was asked if the reader was his girlfriend my heart like clenched not because what you wrote lead me to believe that but more so that it is a possibility in the reader’s mind? (based on their thoughts) -🍋
And once again i feel like you’ve set up a good start to the relationship at the end you know? Not fully fledged dating yet but there’s hope, optimistic footing. (Also yesss!! Jeno’s my boy. thank you so much for all that you do) 😊💕 -🍋
i knewwwww that it was fall and catch! i feel like, with johnny, most of the time i just want to show a more lightweight side of my writing (not like with moonshine dripped colors. that’s heavy shit but still). i’m so happy that you think my writing (and i don’t know if we’re seeing the same thing because i’m not ALL THAT) is that way, but either way–i feel like soulmate!au’s are something…that i like, but that i find hard to turn it realistic. for example, i, myself, would love to meet my soulmate if soulmates existed, but i wouldn’t be like ‘okay ily let’s date’ bc what if that person’s an asshole???? or crazy??? it’s just a delicate au, in some ways, and i try to make it as…likeable as possible. i’m so so so thankful to have a reader like you, and thank you–really, for liking my fics fndkafad.
also, lemon!!! jeno really is out here catching my heart. can’t blame you for liking him lol.

motw: AI/mech
ive made the executive decision that sentient ais count as monsters for all intents and purposes, so.
[1212]
Umi and Kotori stagger into the cockpit, both equally out of breath for different reasons. Kotori’s legs feel like jelly from the stairs, while Umi looks like she's about to fall apart on the spot. In the quiet, nerves thrum and crackle like electricity between them.
It's a wide open space, with a massive window overlooking the greys and greens of Tokyo, and a long control panel with three chairs. A true battlemech, Kotori thinks, out of commission but no less grand than it had been during the war. Hopefully it still works. It has to. It's their last hope.
“Plug it in,” Umi says, commands, with a sense of urgency Kotori feels in her bones. She doesn't miss how Umi’s voice shakes.
Hovering over the control panel, Kotori feels an ounce of hesitation which quickly grows into a pit of doubt in her chest. In her hands, she holds a small chip, covered in flexiplast and painted with a single character in shaky calligraphy. It's all they have left. It's all they have left.
Her visions swims ahead of her. She can't do this. What's pulling her back? She can't tell. Is it the fear of failure? The fear of riding all your hopes in one silicon chip, only to have it dashed aside like a tower of cards?
Is it the fear that whatever is inside may not be the same as before?
“I-” Kotori chokes, her hand blurring into three and making the proper port hard to find. “I can't-”
Umi’s behind her in an instant. She's shaking, but she still tries to be a tower of strength. How adorably stubborn. “I'll do it,” she says, and takes the chip from Kotori’s trembling hand. She fumbles around for the right port - they all look the same, Kotori begins to doubt it'll even work at all, this was all a mistake, they have to keep moving, keep running-
It clicks.
Kotori holds her breath and crosses her fingers without even thinking about it. A flood of thoughts - of memories and feelings - crashes through her mind with the subtlety of an avalanche and she can barely dissect them. Failure. The word seeps through her skin and taints her. She barely registers Umi’s tightly clenched fist. She barely registers the lights on the console flickering to life.
I just want Honoka back, she thinks, loud and clear. And just like that, Honoka awakens and with her voice Kotori knows peace.
“Wo- woah, that was weird, I-” Honoka says (her voice is what pixels sound like) before she halts. Umi doesn't look away from the window, but she tenses. Kotori takes a step back and looks up, and around, as if Honoka is going to materialise right there. Of course, she doesn't. She's not exactly real or alive anymore.
“Guys? What happened? Where am I?”
Umi steels herself with a sharp intake of breath, but before she can respond, Kotori blurts out, “Honoka!” and then the whole ground jolts and they both stumble to the ground. The whirring of ancient, ancient machinery all around them is almost like the sounds of life. Something crashes outside - Kotori surmises it might have been the mech’s giant foot.
“Kotori?” Honoka asks, much quieter now, and the floor stabilises again. Above them, a camera spins around a few times before jerkily setting its single eye on the two of them. “Umi? What happened? What- where are we, why are you- and-”
It hurts, to hear Honoka like this. It wasn't as if she had ever been the most astute or together person, but she'd been constant. She'd been relentlessly optimistic. She'd been Kotori’s ray of sunshine forever and ever and ever, and now she sounds so lost and fragile, so dull and far away, less like the sun and more like a distant star.
Thankfully, Umi took the terse silence as a permit to answer in Kotori’s stead. “Honoka -” she starts, then shakes her head and draws back. “Honoka, do you remember anything that happened to you?”
There was a long, painful pause. “... I don't... know.”
“What do you mean?”
“I- it feels all like a dream,” Honoka says with a laugh in her voice, “like a really, really weird dream…” She laughs now, but Kotori fancies that she hears the choked up sob it masks. Honoka’s voice crackles out and back into existence, and the floor shifts again, but only minutely, and perhaps she's starting to piece things together.
Kotori doesn't want Honoka to piece it together. She wants Honoka to be happy forever, just as it should be.
“... I really did die, didn't I?”
Umi mutters something under her breath that could have been curse, if she were any lesser person. Kotori looks down at her fingers, tracing the burns trailing up her hands. A gentle reminder of her folly. Even the hum of the mech seems to quiet, as if Honoka is holding her breath.
“I'm sorry,” Kotori’s apology bubbles out before she can stop herself, “I'm so sorry, Honoka, I didn't mean -”
“It's not your fault, Kotori,” Honoka interrupts gently. The mech’s giant hand comes to rest against the window, almost a consolation. “I shouldn't have been so reckless. Umi told me not to do it, anyway! I should have listened.”
“You saved their lives,” Umi said, “you saved their lives, and so Maki was able to… Bring you back. In a sense.”
It goes quiet again and Kotori shakily wipes at her eyes. The reunion she had hoped for, but not the one she deserves. Even if it's not in flesh and blood, even if it's just circuits and wires and a voice that's just a bit off, it's still Honoka. And Kotori feels like the treacherous disciple, forgiven so completely that it hurts deep down in her core.
After several minutes, there's finally movement. A small and doubtlessly rusted protrusion pushes through the centre of the floor, surprising both Kotori and Umi into leaping back. It spins around slowly (like a turret, like a sentry gun) exactly once before a blue light beams upwards. It's a projector. Kotori gasps in hopeful desperation.
The beam widens, fades, and standing there in the light of the projector is Honoka herself. She is blue, and somewhat transparent. Her image distorts in static before she begins to move. It's not a state of the art holographic image but it's Honoka and what else matters.
Without thinking, Kotori reaches out for Honoka’s arm. It passes right through, leaving a peculiar ray of shadow where her fingers obstruct the light. She knew this would happen.
That doesn't stop her from sobbing out loud for the first time. She bundles herself in and falls to her knees at Honoka’s feet, her voice obscured by the thick nettles of her agony. Umi is quick to her side, rubbing her back in calming circles. Honoka panics and flusters and kneels down, trying to do anything, something, but she can't. She can't do anything except speak.
“I'm sorry,” Honoka is saying, “I didn't mean to - Umi, I really didn't mean to - I thought it'd be nice if you could at least see me again…”
Through her dreadful tears, Kotori smiles in a worn out grimace. “It's wonderful,” she whispers, “it's wonderful…”

M and O!
eeee ty!! 💕
M: Got any premises on the back burner that you’d care to share?
Oh… so fucking many… like way too many it’s kind of overwhelming. Might as well share a couple so I can be yelled at into actually writing them :))
I’ve had an idea for a spring awakening au for like, forever now, but I have zero energy to write it, but I just KNOW that if I did, it would be fucking awesome. Who doesn’t love some good ol’ sexual repression?
I also have a cheating fic that I’ve kinda started, but I’ve put off because I gotta be in the right headspace to write it y’know? But like, as much as I love some hurt/comfort, sometimes I wanna throw out the comfort part and just hurt them, you, and myself with painfully sad content lol.
Okay last one lol. But this is a really old abandoned idea that I think about constantly and like, t swifts you belong with me music video, but the harringrove version. Does that make sense? Like, neighbors with a window that looks into each other’s rooms? I feel like that’s such a vibe.
O: How do you begin a story–with the plot, or the characters?
What is a plot?? Lmao. To be real, all of my fics just start out as some vague idea. Like, my last fic was just “lol, what if Steve had to dress up as a girl to get into a frat party?” and poof, four days and 8k words later we have a fully fledged fic based off of just one small idea. I just kind of take that vague idea and just start writing it, building the plot as I’m writing it. Occasionally, I actually have a plot in advance though.

Happy FFWF!
Have you ever wanted to wish an AU existence rather than having to write it? If so, what would AU be focused on and about?
Happy FFWF Retro!!
Aaaa all the time!! God, I wish I could write any that came to mind. A fully fledged well written au where maybe time travel happened? I wanna have it feel like it could exist in marvel's canon, I applaud the people who have done that before!! The idea I got so far with my current multichapter fic is something I kinda wish could already be written 😂
