complexities, perplexities or some thoughts I had at 2am about kento & hiromi
Tumblr media
idk im just ramblin' here - u been warned
When i first fell for nanami kento, i thought it was because of his commitment to his principles, the steadfastness in that regard.
i definitely find a parallel of that in Higuruma, even though it was less tempered idealism than "lost (his) temper" idealism - Yet if anything, that tragic outburst of murderous passion is testament of his obsession and zeal. It's his temporary denial and anguish that underscores years of enduring such bitterness and frustration, the decades long slog proving the strength of his willpower, that accumulates into one terrible moment of weakness; a process that simultaneously corroborates and yet is corrosive to his convictions. And now his conscience will have to suffer that slip-up forever.
Something has died in him; if it wasn't already dying for a long time. What survives, subsequently? Or what is rebirthed? I don't regard his psychotic break as fragility. After all, can we recognise someone's strength only after they've been pushed to a breaking point? And it takes a different sort of strength of will to rebuild, to live past who you thought you were, to accept becoming someone you thought you'd never be. Maybe it even takes an admission of weakness, and gentleness...
Higuruma ultimately finds his North Star again, remembers why he became an attorney, it's a return to his original beliefs; There's a definite through line despite the ramification of his actions, the kind of consistency and commitment which I find so compelling, that's a quality he shares with Nanami.
But Nanami's lapse is far less ruinous, his escapist delusion leads him to play a salaryman for a few years, compared to Higuruma becoming a damning executioner in a day. When Nanami rediscovered his purpose, he just shrugged off the corporate schtick and becomes a jujutsu sorceror again, in a sense accepting what he knew he was destined for from an early age. He accepts the truth and returns to a reality already familiar, albeit unpleasantly familiar, to him.
For Higuruma there's so such going back. That "reality" has vanished. No old job or routine he can simply pick up again.
Higuruma's "getting lost" has much bigger consequences - he can no longer be a lawyer, what was once his calling are now mere echoes of the past, reminders of the things that made him him.
The years of effort molding his identity have been entirely stripped away, by his own hands. Imagine all that pain and confusion on top of how hard it is for him to navigate through his guilt - fighting Sukuna was meant to be an act of, if not absolution then penance, hell, probably even capital punishment. But he didn't die so now what? it's just...purgatory for him?
Adding to that, he's supposed to be the 'next' Gojo Satoru? Perceived that way for his power alone? Admired or even looked up to, in some respects? How laughable. How cruel.
Pressured to live up to that mantle, when he already has such a hollowed out sense of self, I suspect being valorised that way is a further type of torturous erosion. But I also know Higuruma isn't the type to permit himself to wallow in such self-pity for long; ironically in a way that makes him resemble Satoru, he won't let reputation define who he is. So, I don't think that bothers him as much.
The real challenge is finding out how to operate in a new system, above or outside the laws he once upheld, in a way that's aligned to his fundamental values, to preserve some version of his old self. Now he's in a job where he can make the call to kill curse users, at his own discretion? Who's going to question his judgement, besides himself? What's the line between vigilante justice and divine retribution?
So, I honestly don't know if Higuruma can even adhere to those same strict ethical codes he had before, how much his basic sense of right and wrong has shifted or will shift due to the nature of his new work.
Which is all to say, I wonder now if maybe the appeal I see in Higuruma isn't exactly steadfastness at all, but flux instead; that is, the seemingly contradictory responsibility and impetus of self-determination, through the construct and malleability of moral choices. If there is anything consistent, any proof which makes him an unquestionably principled character, perhaps it would be the very questioning and interrogation of which of his actions are right and fair, a thorough self-examination. If I love Nanami for his stalwart certainty, strangely I'm equally drawn to Higuruma for his rigourous scrutiny, his so-called "uncertainties", how he holds space for...not doubt, but other perspectives and possibilities. And how he finds his way through that maze of multiplicities, whether he's stumbling or striding, I want to accompany him on that journey. Goodness, restraint, mercy...none of these are foregone conclusions with him; that's what makes him so enticing to me.
also yall seen that nose of his? sheesh
anw obvsly can't stop yapping about them my inbox is open if anyone wants to yak about how they will fold you in half are so unique

1, 8, 14, and 24!
1. Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi-chaptered fics?
Definitely a huge preference towards multi chaptered fics, as I tend to get long winded and my works become expansive. My one shots end up pretty long anyway, but I'll just write what feels applicable to the fic...
And since I'm mostly thinking about really big stories, chapters just work best for me. Plus, when I'm putting more effort into the chapters, I love to organise all the little details and developments I want for everything, micro and macro 😏
8. Do you prefer the beginning, middle, or end of a story?
Middle. It's where the meat of it is, where most the scenes I'm imagining as concepts will go... I enjoy beginnings and ends too, but to me a beginning or end being so memorable is due to remembering it with the context of the middle parts. If the middle isn't worth reading, why would I put effort into opening and closing it either, yknow?
14. how do you write emotional scenes? Do you ever feel what the characters feel? Do you draw from personal experiences?
Man. This is tricky to answer... I keep writing and rewriting my answer to this, but I don't think there's a way to keep it brief.
I'm autistic, so the way I approach and understand emotions is inherently different. I can understand what causes emotions, and I can understand actions informed by emotions, but there's something about emotional behaviour as a whole that I struggle with- for myself and when observing others. Writing emotional scenes in fiction is like a sandbox at times, I can do whatever I want; change the stakes, change the characters response, put limits on their behaviour in context... Anything. And this can make it easier, and harder. What I value the most when writing characters is that they feel authentic and driven. I want THEIR lived context up until that scene to inform the way they'd behave, and often I'll have character outlines for myself when writing bigger and more complex stuff to help with this. I don't really approach writing an emotional scene with the emotions at the forefront, I think I focus on the objective of that scene first, and then break it down into what characters will present internally and externally. Any emotions present will make themselves known, the same way the vibe of a house becomes a home as you start to live in it.
A lot of people are emotionally immature, too, so I don't find it very authentic (or interesting) to write scene upon scene of characters doing corporate therapy talk as they work through things. I don't mind the challenge of trying to construct something emotionally charged, I think I did a pretty good job in the first chapter of my star trek au to demonstrate the emotions of each character and how that conflicted and contrasted with everyone (and hope that it does it's intended job of outlining the characters and providing a base for how far they'll develop later in the story...) I usually know what I want and will spend time figuring out how it's going to happen, and fill in the emotional responses as I'm 'reading the room' of the scene. There have been times where I've written something emotional, and while understanding that it is emotional and putting effort into conveying it, I'm still very surprised when people tell me that it made them emotional. Idk, it's hard to really articulate this clearly, but in the same way I spend ages writing and rewriting dialogue for my characters so that it feels authentic and flows in the way I want, I do that with the emotions of the scene and how I want to demonstrate the characters reacting and processing the emotion. It's iteration upon iteration, built up over a lot of agonising over certain word choices.
I don't think I ever feel what my characters feel as I write them, I have a bit more of a detached feeling because I'm the author. I can feel sympathetic towards the characters, and understand or feel similarly, but I'm not them, so I won't feel it to the full extent... All stories are inherently voyeuristic, to varying degrees, and that sense of peering into a curated version of events and certain characters mindsets can be quite intimate. I'm just relaying that intimacy with the characters and story, and I feel my own way about it, which is different to the characters I'm writing, and probably very different to people who read what I wrote.
And as for personal experiences... I draw on them in a sense of 'write what you know.' And this isn't a literal 'only write what you yourself have experienced,' cause let's be real, even in biographical media, it's dramatised and you haven't literally experienced the exact same. Instead, talking more broadly, I know how I live my life as a person, and have been keenly watching, observing and joining others in their lives too. When you're writing creatively, you have to use that creative muscle to figure out how characters will react. Unlike my OC Harland, I haven't gone through a heartbreak and betrayal so great that it is a deciding factor in a war I want no part in- but, I have had to cut ties with people I used to call friends because they're acting in ways I can't understand or condone, I've felt stressed over when friend groups split and there's a background assumption that you need to pick sides, and I've felt the weight of knowing certain decisions I make will be responsible for more than just myself. I'm not Harland, dealing with the emotional climax of his story, but I am me, and I can use my lived/observed experiences to inform how he would act as a base, and construct him in all his complexity by comparing his reactions to mine. It's easy to go 'I wouldn't have done that;' so you gotta take the time to think on why you wouldn't have, and why that person did.
Anyway, you see why this is tricky for me to answer lol. I think there's some weird internal logic I have that makes me approach this kinda stuff from a more detached and critical view, so I have to put effort into understanding all aspects of what's going on. And that's just in my day to day, so at least when writing I can put those skills to use for something entertaining!
24. Worst writing advice anyone ever gave you?
This is hard, cause I try to ignore advice that I don't think is applicable, and promptly forget once I've moved on.
I guess I'll say something that I heard discussed a lot when I was studying film, and what I heard people parroting when I mentioned them, which was to 'not get tropey.'
I HATE that trope means the same thing as cliche to everyone, cause they're not the same. A trope is simply how you describe the particulars of a situation in fiction, and you can use them to help figure out what sort of genre your work belongs to and what your target audience will be. Trying to avoid tropes is like trying to build a brick house without bricks. Cliches, on the other hand, are when a certain trope has become so overdone that you know exactly how something will play out, and it's become stale due to seeing it too much. And in my observation, tropes become cliche when the writers are just copying what works without thinking about WHY it works, or how it applies to the narrative. You absolutely should get tropey with it, cause how else will you have a story? The important part is that you're not just going through the motions of what's commonly used in the type of story you're writing, and instead working on purposefully including what you put to page.
Idk if that's clear enough to those who haven't studied film/narrative in some capacity, so I'll say what my response was when students would ask for help avoiding tropes in their screenplays in our mentoring sessions: don't worry about the hypothetical audience reaction before you've finished writing the story. Don't think about tropes and cliches and whatever else we use when deconstructing a narrative to analyse it, you haven't got a finished story to analyse. Just write the story you want to tell, and be deliberate about it. Everything's been done before, but this story hasn't been done your way yet, so just focus on your writing first.

🍊🍍🥝🍇 ~ fruits for my favourite fruit <3
Ty my favorite bird <3
🍊—Who’s a character you don’t write for that often, but keep meaning to write for more? (They’re so interesting! But maybe you have trouble pinning them down, or keep getting distracted by another blorbo)
Layla and Jake from MK auGHh! They both have sm n I have several fic ideas to go more in depth on Jake specifically, but in most of what I have now they’re often relegated to interaction or side appearances even tho they give me sO MANY THOUGHTS!! I think that’s part of the issue bc most ideas would b longer and more involved n I rly only am doing short stuff atm. I rly gotta do some stuff with them soon tho!
🍍—What kind of AUs do you like? Are there any AUs you hate or just generally have beef with?
Honestly I’m not much of an AU man, I more like stuff that plays with small tweaks or missing pieces of canon over drastic changes, as for me at a certain point it doesn’t feel like the characters I want to explore anymore. There are exceptions ofc but yeah, generally. Overall I like role swap AUs? I think they can give a good look at how characters got to where they are and how they address issues differently, but again that’s sort of playing in canon sandbox as well. Idk if timeloop counts as an AU or a trope but I like that as well, as well as stuff that’s more… switch around pieces but general universe is the same.
Beef wise, I don’t like no power aus for super heroes if there’s nothing else interesting or it’s not exploring like “this isn’t how it should be” type stuff. Same for modern Star Wars stuff w no aliens or paralleling structures like those? Are just guys now? Those are not the same guys? Both make a lot of conflicts feel less there and changes a lot of fundamentals. Also not a big fan of fantasy AUs for non fantasy properties? But that’s my personal issues w not being as much of a fantasy guy unfortunately 😭 Idk. I’m just not rly an AU guy haha.
🥝—What’s your favorite trope/AO3 tag to write?
Ig nonsexual (but also sometimes sexual) intimacy and 5(or however many)+1’s.
For the first it’s something about exploring people physically, and seeing the ways they find connection and boundaries with touch and contact, it’s just rly fun for me. I loVe sense of self exploration and how sensory input is felt and wanted is a huge part of that. Also has a lot of good descriptors, with warmth and rough/softness, hair texture, eyes and noses and stomachs. Good stuff. Can be gentle or sad or sexy or sweet and I always find at least a bit in all of my stuff.
For the second it’s similar in an examination sense, but more abstract, about seeing the space the character(s) take up and the reactions they have under certain circumstances. It can explore a swath of themes and moments, give a net cast if the characters life and how they’ve moved through it, and it’s relatively bite sized depending on how you go at it, making it perfect for the writing momentum that keeps me going.
🍇 —Is there a particular scene/episode/book/etc that you want to just write a million fics about, over and over? Which one?
Honestly probably a lot but I am sO bad at rmring stuff so this is kinda more like? Topics? From the top of my head: Miguel and Gabriella stuff from ATSV, Moon Knight stuff to do with the duat and with Gus, Miguel holding Mayday briefly, uhhh honestly just all of moon knight actually but JDHBDB that’s to be expected. Also post canon W359 but that’s less canon n more the whole shebang.
Send me a fruity writing ask!

for me even talk like "I want to see you with my pups" without any actual mpreg can squick me out if it's mentioned in more than one sentence and that's not always tagged as "breeding kink" I respect that it's the author's choice and they may not see it as mentioning a breeding kink but for me personally it's 😐 <- me when I read it
I forgot about the politics/society 😞 imo it's a lot of "misogyny 2.0" but even worse. like what is "straight", only male alpha/female omega and male beta/female beta couples? but sometimes there's regular misogyny as well which. disappointing.
I used to really dislike how most omegaverse is written about omegas even though omegas are usually written as almost second-class citizens but after finding out the original omegaverse fic didn't even mention omegas I respect it now. would prefer if there was some diversity but #smashthealphaarchy (actual phrase I read in some spn omegaverse samifer fic bc the premise sounded good)
also the idea of heats is. very strange logistically. like part of the population can't do anything for a week, once a month? that was always weird to me until I read a fic that had omegas have heats for a week once every three months. animal heats aren't 1:1 with periods. also the idea that periods and therefore heats are incredibly painful is actually pretty isolating to me, a cis(? not fully sure but I don't want to actually think about it too much) woman who's never had "bad" periods. I understand that I'm "lucky" (whatever that means) but it's so different from my experience that I just don't get it. might just be because I'm on an SSRI and SNRI and mostly only get horny right before my period tho
I'm "meh" on a physically painful biological need to fuck (I'm not into solid angst or whump with no comfort) but a biological need that can't be ignored is great ignore how I also like star trek tos and hot (depending on how it's written) that's not being a whore that's being normal
yeah bro u ain’t gotta explain ur squicks i get it! it’s funny bc i feel that way about any mention of pregnancy OUTSIDE of a/b/o. i guess to me personally, the omegaverse is like. removed enough from reality that it doesn’t register the same i guess? idk brains are weird man
yeah i mean to be fair there is a lot that’s just. misogyny 2.0 that’s true! but in the same way that a lot of fic in general can be slop or ooc or also straight up misogynist. it’s funny bc literally a lot of the early stuff was actively playing against that in a way which i think is part of why it had some staying power in the first place. and also why the omegaverse fics that are the best, are the ones that play in that sandbox of non conventional gender norms with both sets of gender! like ones where alphas are more of second class citizens. or i read an interesting on recently where the bonding/mating process took several bites and had to be initiated by an omega and world building there was really neat! or another favorite of mine involves the omega character, first of all being literally secondary intersex, and not in the like fetishistic way that some a/b/o fics do where it just means they have both sets of genitalia, i mean this specific guy had intersex omega and alpha chromosomes. AND had broken his nose as a young teen and so had no sense of smell. so like exploring what happens when the alpha of the pairing had to use -god forbid- his personality to woo him instead of just like. pheromones or whatever. it was really fascinating!
i will say that the way a fic handles head can, imo, make or break the fic. i definitely prefer ones that aren’t 1:1 to human menstrual cycles, especially ones that call it what it would be, which is an estrous cycle. i am also on an snri rn and before that spent several years on ssris, but before i got on birth control i had extreme pmdd so horniness was uh. Not what i ever associated with my cycle lol. but boy has testosterone Changed That lmao
and again i just thing desperation is hot so it’s very appealing to me overall lmao. and as someone who is also a huge tos fan like. omegaverse is like pon farr/fuck or die/sex pollen’s slightly kinkier cousin. slightly. thank you star trek for the origin of so many excellent fan fic tropes
and i hope this isn’t coming across as me trying to like. convince you that you HAVE to like a/b/o im just a huge fan of it and enjoy talking about the aspects i like about it and why! there’s just a huge range or what you can find and i personally am a professional connoisseur of the genre and am very good at sussing out very quickly if a fics gonna have what i like or not lmao

11, 12, 19 and 23 for the fic writer asks?
Fic Writer Asks // Asks Open
11 a WIP you’d like to finish someday
All of them? I’m chipping away at both northern downpour fics so those don’t feel as untouchable as some of my other wips. I’d really love to make progress on the crisis!heat fic, at least get Tristan’s heat over with since that’s a natural pt1 break and idk if I even feel capable of writing pt2-nesting. Choking on his halo has been on the edge of wip-amnesty since we traded Jake but I do think the fic would be hot if I ever wrote it and aside from figuring out if I’m still including Rusty in the back half it’s the most straightforward of all my stuff.
12 a trope you’re really into right now
I guess kneeling?— both bdsm kneeling and those verses where it’s just proper rookie management. I’ve been thinking about it more than goalie nesting that’s for sure. Reading about it for inspo reasons. I’d say non-trad omegaverse but honestly I think outside of casual locker room poly, my bdsm and omegaverse aus are pretty traditional in the grand scheme of things. I don’t think I’m doing anything new or innovative in my fics, just having fun playing in a general sandbox.
19 the most interesting topic you’ve researched for a fic
I’m really basic in that unless it’s to check dates/schedules for games and/or rosters for seasons I don’t do a ton of research for my fics. I guess you can count reading fic as research but typing “cock warming” and “boypussy” into ao3 doesn’t feel like an interesting research topic. At one point Ez handed me a trans person’s guide to describing trans genitals for intersex-omega reasons.
I’ve done more interesting research for general hockey arguments including gazing deeply into capfriendly so I can understand nmcs than I have for anything that can be applied to my fics. There’s some cba/contract related stuff in both the crisis!heat fic and the goaliecule heat fic and that’s in the worldbuilding for anything creature comforts but that’s less research and more existing next to Ren when they go on rants about the various rulebooks. Then when I sit down to worldbuild, applying that knowledge and asking myself if heat and nesting exist in a rules based world where it’s biology/psychology and not “sometimes goalies go weird and it’s basically magic,” what would it mean?
I’ve also enjoyed my occasional research rabbit holes for poetry edit reasons which is fanworks-related and this fic-adjacent.
23 pick three keywords that describe your writing
For my published fics; Sensory, Rambling, Soft
For my notfics, bullet point fics, and related au ideas: Shenaniganary, Quick, and Broad

For (one thing you want to know about me) ask!! We've been mutuals for years now (and I'm so lucky!🥰💕 love you!!) And I saw many posts from many fandoms on your blog! Which one between fandoms is your favourite? Like, which one you felt more close to characters or people in fanbase were kind and welcoming.
Thank you!!!💖💖💖💖
Thanks for the ask Merry! Love you too! <3
And man, it's difficult to say which fandom I like the most. Apart from DBH, I haven't really interacted with what I would think of as The Fanbase™, so for the sake of comparison I'll focus on the characters.
My favourite characters - if we talk about canon - are probably Death Stranding. I don't reblog stuff from that game often, but the humanity of the main cast is amazing, and the struggle against a quiet, unforgiving landscape... let's say it is A Vibe.
In terms of the favourite cast that I like to play with like a collection of dolls, however, I'll have to say Call of Duty. I'm only familiar with the reboot universe, but between mw19, mw2, and mw3, there is actually a lot of characters I can work on. It helps that the operators' backgrounds are on the vaguer side, which gives me a lot more room in terms of their backstory, characterisation, relationships, etc. Some of my interpretations are quite different from the so-called fanon though, and most of the characters I'm into aren't exactly the most popular ones anyway - e.g. my Otter/Wyatt fanfic is the second fic with the tag on ao3 and they've been around since mw19 - so most of my ideas exist either in Discord DMs or WIPs in my Google Drive. Maybe I'll finish another one some day. Idk if you've read the omegaverse aledolfo fic but by god that universe has expanded a lot since that fic and has got a lot darker too. I won't call my interpretations canon though, because again, the actual 'canon' of the operators can fit into half a sheet of A4 paper. Not saying I'm disregarding it though; I know ignoring canon is the approach of a lot of people, but for myself I prefer knowing the rules before breaking them. It's just more fun to me to work within the loose limits set by the information provided to us in the games.
When it comes to favourite cast to write, it's a tie between CoD and Mass Effect: Andromeda, the former because I always have fresh ideas and the characters are legit fun to play with (especially if you allow them to be toxic, make mistakes, and be their own self instead of shoving them into a select few tropes), the latter because I keep returning to them. Nothing grand about the MEA cast because most of my ideas are closer to slice-of-life things, but boy is CoD's dynamics fun to play around. The international politics. The implications of the different factions in mw19. The composition of the two PMCs in mw2. I know a lot of people try to stay on top of the politics, but why sanitise things when leaning hardcore into the political aspect makes the sandbox so much more interesting and dramatic?
I can go on for much longer, but what I have in mind will probably take days if not weeks to comb through. Anyways, hope I've answered your question, and feel free to ask any follow-up questions if you have any!

i cant remember the last time i made a post in relation to special interest stuff especially in regards to fic/art/headcanons/etc. but my head in briefly poking out of the fog for this One thought (which is bittersweet bc like its nice ur giving me a thought bestie but im doing so fucking bad lol)
anyways. i usually ignore so much mcu canon and just take what i like and sandbox the rest, especially with anything post winter soldier or age of ultron, and i rarely acknowledge iw or endgame. but im tihnking abt bucky and loki meeting each other after losing their respective boytoys (steve & mobius . if it isnt obvious) and falling in love or something. idk. i wanna rotate it in my brain more but im side-eyeing it so strongly rn

Why tf is harrymort something you ship? Not only is Voldemort constantly trying to kill Harry, has killed Harry's parents, threatened to kill all of Harry's friends, and actually did sort of kill Harry, but like. He's definitely over fifty in the books. IDK how old he is exactly, but he's old enough that he was a feared political cult leader missing 6 chunks of his soul and a Hogwarts graduate when Harry is a baby. It's creepy, man.
Bruh, all of my ships are incredibly problematic in more than one way. I'm suspicious over that being the only one you seem to take issue with.
1.) You lack imagination. HP is a very fleshed out fictional universe with many options at your fingertips for fanfic. Tom Riddle appears throughout the series, in the ages newborn, 11, 15, 16, 18, 20+, 30+, 50, and 70. Harry has appeared in the ages of 1, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 37/38. Time Turners exist. Alternate Universes exist. You can do literally anything because HP is a massive sandbox. I can have Harry find the Diary in his 6th Year and then he is actually older than Diary-Tom. I can have Adult-Harry Time Travel to any point between 1950 and 1970 and end up in a relationship with Adult-Tom.
2.) What attracts me is the potential. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean there aren't ridiculous connections between Harry and Voldy. People would see Voldy's obsession as some kind of mad crush if Harry was a girl and we all know it. Just because Harry's a boy doesn't mean Voldy getting touchy feely isn't weird, or Tom staring at him 'hungrily' many times isn't suggestive, or Harry remarking 18 times between 2 books that Tom Riddle is 'handsome' while doing nothing to tell people about how attractive the supposed love of his life(Ginny) is.
3.) My weakness is Protag/Antag ships. Ever since I was a child and a romance was happening in something I was watching, my first thought was always preferring the hero with the villain. I didn't understand why until I was about 13. Suddenly it's, how would that work? How can they realistically go from being enemies to being in love? Can any fic writers manage it since it isn't canon?
Bruh, I shipped Sailor Moon with almost every enemy she had(even Diamond tbh). I shipped Kagome Higurashi with Naraku and Sesshomaru from the moment those characters were introduced in the story(Inuyasha). Long before we learned any back story on them. I shipped Naruto with almost every member of the Akatsuki at some point out of curiosity the moment I learned about the organization. I shipped Kaname Kuran and Zero Kiryu(Vampire Knight).
As a result of my Protag/Antag obsession, most of my ships end up being unhealthy by nature. Even in cases where they are undeniably canon, like Luo Binghe/Shen Qingqiu | Shen Yuan, they aren't very safe or sane.
Something you need to remember is that it is fiction about fictional characters. Real people are not being harmed. And the only way someone could realistically be 'triggered' by such content is if they go to specific lengths to see it. You have options to curate your online experience. Don't follow blogs/accounts about topics you don't like, mute words/tags that bother you, block ppl who make you uncomfortable. It takes a few minutes to ensure your future is hassle free.
I'm at that age where I've been in fandom spaces so long I don't care about people's ships or interests. Spending my personal time worrying about some stranger's obsession with Tragic Non-Con Reylo fanfic won't do me any favors when I honestly dgaf. I'm here for the fandom stuff I like and only occasionally participate in discourse, and that is never aimed at ships and is always about characters and the people who wrote them.
So yes, I ship fucked up shit, and I could write the fucked up stuff(maybe, if I ever get emotional strength to) but typically I'm more into nuance and drama and slow burns that take 400K words to work through. I don't do Non-Con Triggering horrible stuff because mentally I can't handle writing or reading it very much. But I'm also not up in arms over the people who do. Let people like what they like. Ship and let ship. Live and let live. They're pixels on a screen or words on a page. They don't exist. They aren't real. They are meant to entertain us, and how people find their enjoyment in fiction isn't for anyone to decide.

tbh I liked Harry Potter almost solely for fanfic reasons. The books were good but it was the world of Harry Potter I wanted to explore more, and not that dumb Pottermore stuff. It's a really fun world to play around with, I think because the worldbuilding is so... unfinished? Like yeah the main plot is okay but in my experience people were even more "what if...?" and "okay but...?" than other fandoms. There's so many fun and interesting concepts just mentioned and never explored in-depth so it's a sandbox with a lot of parts already there. The entire political system, the blood caste system, other countries' wizarding cultures, tons of schools of magic just casually mentioned and never explored like ancient runes or alchemy, creative ways to use magic, duelling, flying, magical history, goblins, muggle-magical relations, dark magic, magical locations hidden just out of sight, accidental magic, the magical hospital, ect ect. All of these are good fic premises for an author looking to do some of their own worldbuilding while still relating it to a familiar and popular world. Other urban fantasies feel, idk, more limiting when I try to do worldbuilding because I think they try to tie things together too much. Everything is related or relevant to the main plot or characters, while JK Rowling will just mention tons of interesting things in passing which makes it feel like there's tons of stuff happening right out of Harry's sightline. Vampires exist in HP. Are they relevant? Heck nah, but they're there. Fic writers can just explore whatever and it fits right in.
If anything that's why I think the more content that comes out, the more JK Rowling is harming her IP. The stuff she's coming up with now is way worse than what the fandom imagined and feels limiting the more she tries to explain her world. Even if I was still into HP I wouldn't want to watch the new movies or whatever.

Kasey my beloved!! <33 🤡✨🤲✅ for the ask?
Ann my beloved!!!! Hello!!!!
🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?
Oh hmmm. The first thing I thought of was this scene from Bloodlines!
He took one step before Anakin cut him off. “Hold up. Where exactly do you think you’re going?”
“I already told you, Skywalker. Separatist forces—”
“—will find you wandering the desert, lost and dehydrated and completely looney from the heat. Or dead.” Dooku’s eyes skirted upward, narrowing as he looked toward the scorching suns. “Yeah. So you’ll need me to navigate. I know this sandbox. You don’t. And besides, what happened to ‘you are my prisoners’?”
He gave his best Dooku imitation, at which Obi-Wan chuckled quietly behind him. Anakin folded his arms across his chest, and when Dooku’s eyes met his again, they were resigned.
“Fine. We travel together. It’s in our best interest to combine our assets,” Dooku said, then straightened. “Although I believe you’ll find that I’m the biggest asset of all.”
“You’re half right,” Anakin said, and this time Obi-Wan laughed outright.
✨ Give you and your writing a compliment. Go on now. You know you deserve it. 😉
Eeeeek okay okay welllll I think I've gotten a lot better at structuring more complex plots? The multichapters I've worked on in the past few years have each been more complicated than the last, and it's really been cool to watch myself get good at that.
🤲 Would you please share a snippet of a wip?
From a multi chapter I'm (sorta) working on:
Obi-Wan doesn’t remember closing the door behind him, or turning around. He doesn’t remember anything except a rush forward and her arms around him, her cloak swallowing him, as she whispers:
“Master.”
His own voice chokes back:
“Ahsoka.”
And then he can’t see anything, because his eyes are blurring with tears, and there is nothing but this small room and the echo of shuddered breaths and two pairs of hands that are holding on, for fear of losing one another again, for fear of letting go.
✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?
Sksjsks I'm about to expose myself here. But yeah there are totally themes that appear regularly--I feel like when it comes down to it I circle a lot around a few main things. One of them is what it means to be a good person, and the difference between being good and being happy. And I write a lot about family and the unique kind of hurt that comes with loving them, and about helping people and letting them help you.
I also definitely overuse a few cliche phrases. Like, stupid stuff like "he ran a hand down his face" or whatever, idk why my characters are always doing that lol

Istg these writer questions are all too good I want to ask you every single one but that'd be a lot so...17, 22, 34 + a question you'd really like to answer!
im so sorry this took a while things been all over the place on my end, this is going to be very all over the place but anyway
17. talk to me about the minutiae of your current wip. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.
uhh so i got several wips that are v much on a break but I started reworking an old arcana self insert fic of mine from 2019 cos tbh the writing is ass and I can make it sound a lot better now idk how that bitch has so many kudos on it, its not good!!
the plot is basically that the MC (reader) has chronic joint pain in the winter when its cold and Julian helps to look after them. The inspiration was that i have chronic joint pain that's way worse when its cold and i wrote it as a comfort thing lol. its still up rn in its original state but will be updated soon hopefully
my other main wip is my dmmd fic that i worked on p much all of last year but now i have burnout so im taking a break rip.
its kinda a re-write of the reconnect game but with more characters and set in my own universe but i think once i get over the bump of the main story line its gonna be more slice of life/ romance focused as a change of pace to the first half. Unlike the reconnect game i also focus on other characters that arent the main character's love interest because if i was a reader i'd wanna know what everyone else is up to post canon. It basically feels like a sandbox for me to write my character head canons lol.
22. how organized are you with your writing? describe to me your organization method, if it exists. what tools do you use? notebooks? binders? apps?
everything is in google docs, i have notes pages and a loose colour coding system going with how I edit things e.g green= published, orange= needs work/ to be changed, purple= notes about canon/ in fic lore.
Sometimes if i feel my work is getting cluttered i'll move it to a separate doc so i end up with about 3 documents that are different editing stages of the same chapter.
Theres also a "cutting room floor" doc where i put stuff that didnt make the final cut in case i wanna refer to it later and its not lost to the back space button.
34. thoughts on the oxford comma, go:
fam I dont even know what a oxford comma is, I just be putting them shits wherever feels right. Like a granny adding seasoning to her cooking.
Ok i just googled it and I dont tend to use it i dont think but honestly do whatever u want, who give a shit. language and grammar are fake.
extra question picked at random :D
12. if a genie offered you three writing wishes, what would they be? btw if you wish for more wishes the genie turns all your current wips into lorem ipsum, i don’t make the rules
first wish is to know how characters feel in response to whatever is happening to them, my biggest thing rn is being unable to put myself in their shoes and i think it would help a lot.
second is to consistently remember HOW to write well, cos i have bursts of knowing wtf im talking about but will suddenly lose it even if im in the middle of a work
third is knowing the exact word or phrase to describe scenery, emotions and facial expressions. I struggle with those the most for some reason.

I feel like some people are so weirdly entitled about fan tls, like do they realize they're getting it for free and only because the tl wanted to share the original work?? Idk why it's so hard to be polite to them and why they feel they need to publicly want to argue with the tls over minor stuff
I do agree somewhat, I think there's a lot of reader-prioritizing attitudes surrounding fan translations. Beyond that, I also think ppl seem to... discount the amount of work and/or legal liability translators perhaps put themselves under?
But I think some ppl reading fan translations also mentally divorce themselves from infringement on their part, bc well, it's the translator's faults, if they didn't want me infringing copyright then they shouldn't have done it themselves. But that's not really how it works, you are still accessing essentially pirated works, and yes as int'l audience typically it doesn't have as muuuch a financial impact on the original creators, but when things do start getting licensed I think the, like, Japanese & KR manga/manhwa industry parallels & what you see mangaka/manhwa artists saying about pirating hurting them on twitter start coming into play.
Plus, for me, I think sometimes ppl are using MXTX's works as a generalization for all danmei, when really what I'm concerned about is the precedent that sets with EN spaces. Like sure, MXTX as one example may be able to take the hits from pirating and what not. But "smaller" authors and works won't. And I do in fact worry about precedents & building attitudes I see.
And like... idk it's just interesting/weird to me, I think that sometimes ppl try to apply fanfic author/transformative fandom etiquette where it doesn't apply (like, I think per U.S. law, translations don't actually constitute transformative works/a new copyright the way a fic would, it's still legally under the same copyright? but I'm not a lawyer so take this with a grain of salt), but then ignoring other items of fandom etiquette (esp treatment-of-authors/content creators etiquette) that I do think would apply.
My, perhaps controversial lmao, take is that I do think translators are under a different/"higher" level of standards/scrutiny than fanfic authors are, and thus their work SHOULD be open to critique or discussion. I don't mean be mean and nasty to them the way everyone was to ExR when everyone suddenly decided it was okay to, but just that translations ARE a claims towards authorial intent & interpretation in a way I think transformative fanworks aren't, you're not so much playing in a sandbox at that point as you are making claims to the authority of your interpretations. And my general take is, I think multiplicity of translation/translation-related interpretation only helps people who don't have access to the source language or aren't as familiar with the source culture, not hurts. Although I do also want to add/caveat that there is indeed an etiquette to fan translations such as not stepping on an existing translator's toes, so I'm not condoning ppl who start translating where someone else left off and posting it publicly bc they "think the translator is too slow" either.
Basically... I do think it's a complicated situation/topic when you start digging into it, as most things are, and there are lots of competing access needs at play that I think ppl need to keep in mind/mind more than I tend to see around. I think sometimes by way of countering a certain prevailing view of a time, ppl tend to go in an other opposite extreme, which I also often think isn't... quite it, either.

DeFi Lending Explained: The Alternative Banking System
Tumblr media
DeFi Lending (Decentralized Finance Lending) is changing how we interact with money and access financial services. By removing traditional banks from the equation, DeFi Lending unlocks global, permissionless financial tools through robust lending and borrowing protocols.
While you may already be familiar with other components of the DeFi ecosystem — like trading platforms and crypto wallets — DeFi Lending protocols are a newer addition to crypto markets. They’ve quickly become one of its most powerful innovations, allowing users to earn yield on digital assets or borrow funds without intermediaries.
Unlike banks, which typically offer 0%–3% interest on savings accounts, permissionless platforms often provide yields of 10%–15% on stablecoins such as USDC and USDT, depending on algorithmic rates. Other altcoins can offer even higher returns, though they come with increased volatility and market risk.
DeFi Lending Explained
DeFi Lending protocols are new financial instruments reshaping the DeFi market into a more open, unbias, efficient, and accessible alternative to traditional finance. It kicked off in 2017 with MakerDAO on the Ethereum network — where smart contracts replace financial intermediaries, and anyone with a wallet could lend, borrow, and earn.
No bank branches. No credit checks. No paperwork.
At its core, crypto lending allows users to deposit digital assets into decentralized protocols and earn yield — often far higher than the 2% scraps traditional banks toss your way. That same pool of capital is tapped by borrowers, who leverage collateral and borrow against it — all without asking permission from a single institution. It's financial access, without the gatekeeping.
Most platforms utilize algorithmic interest rates that adjust based on supply and demand between lenders and borrowers — or more specifically, utilization rate — ensuring lenders are rewarded when demand is high and borrowers always know the cost of capital. Everything runs on smart contracts, meaning no bias, no delays, and no hidden fees.
You might know DeFi wallets or DEXs, but lending is the backbone of decentralized finance. It's where idle assets start working. It's how capital flows across blockchains. And it’s still early. As more protocols launch with permissionless lending, vaults, curators, and real-time credit scoring — like Credora’s system — are setting new standards. Decentralized lending is shaping up to be a full-blown alternative to the banking system — not just for the degens, but for institutions, the bankless, and everyone in between.
DeFi Lending isn’t just a product. It’s a movement — toward financial self-custody, global access, and open systems that don't care about your credit score or region.
How Does Decentralized Lending Work?
DeFi Lending operates on non-custodial, permissionless protocols that allow users to lend or borrow assets without needing approval from centralized institutions. Here’s how it works:
Depositors – Earn Interest by Supplying Crypto
Users can deposit their stablecoins or other cryptocurrencies into a protocol such as Morpho. These funds are added to a liquidity pool, which other users can borrow from. The interest earned depends on market demand and is often significantly higher than traditional bank savings rates. Think of it like a crypto-powered savings account — but with higher yields and no middlemen.
Vaults – Managed by Curators
Vaults, or liquidity pools, are managed by curators (market makers) who optimize yield strategies for depositors by directing liquidity into other protocols or pools. Think of it like how banks reinvest customer deposits — but in DeFi, it’s automated and transparent.
Borrowers – Crypto as Collateral
Borrowers must provide tokens as collateral valued higher than the loan amount and keep up with interest payments. This protects lenders and mitigates defaults. If the collateral’s value drops too far, the protocol auto-liquidates the position to preserve the vault. Interest payments contribute to vault growth, benefiting depositors.
Key Features of DeFi Lending
Different lending platforms introduce a wide range of features that traditional banks simply can’t match — from permissionless access to non-custodial control and real-time, algorithmic interest rates. Here’s what makes crypto lending a compelling alternative.
Want the full breakdown? Check out our deep dive: DeFi Lending vs Traditional Lending for a side-by-side comparison.
Permissionless Access
No approvals. No restrictions. No waiting. With just a wallet and Wi-Fi, anyone can tap into permissionless lending — regardless of geography or credit history. It’s financial access on your terms, running 24/7 on-chain. While banks sleep, DeFi stays open.
Non-Custodial Control
Unlike banks that take custody of your funds, decentralized lending protocols are non-custodial. That means you maintain control of your assets at all times. Your crypto stays in your wallet or in smart contracts — not behind a desk at a financial institution.
Higher Yields on Stablecoins
While banks offer a modest 0.1% to 3% APY on savings, DeFi Lending protocols routinely deliver 10%–15% APY on stablecoins like USDC and USDT. These dynamic rates are driven by real-time market demand and executed automatically through smart contracts — no middlemen, no fine print.
Transparent & Algorithmic Interest Rates
Rates in lending protocols adjust in real time based on supply and demand — not some opaque decision made in a bank’s boardroom. Most protocols use algorithmic models to set borrowing costs and lender rewards, so you always know what you’re signing up for.
Business Lending & Borrowing
DeFi is starting to reshape more than just personal finance, digital holdings and investors — it's unlocking new ground in financial transactions. Traditionally, businesses have relied on banks, paperwork-heavy applications, and long approval timelines just to access working capital. But with a crypto lending platform, the entire process can be streamlined. A business can use its crypto assets as collateral or even build a credit profile through on-chain activity, and get access to liquidity within minutes — not weeks.
This is a game-changer, especially for startups and businesses in emerging markets that are typically underserved by legacy banking systems. No more waiting for a greenlight from a credit officer halfway across the world. The implications are huge: faster growth cycles, decentralized funding models, and a level playing field for businesses that don’t fit the mold of traditional finance.
And the options keep growing. Some decentralized applications now offer undercollateralized lending through credit assessment platforms, flexible repayment terms, while others allow tokenized invoices or real-world assets to be used for capital. It’s early days, but business finance is going borderless — and the runway for innovation is wide open.
Top DeFi Lending Platforms
Lending apps have seen explosive growth in recent years. The total value locked (TVL) in DeFi protocols jumped from approximately $9.1 billion in July 2020 to $90.8 billion, according to DeFiLlama — a staggering 900% increase. It’s one of the fastest-growing lending and borrowing markets, highlighting both the demand and rising adoption of DeFi as a serious alternative to traditional banking.
Today, a handful of platforms dominate the DeFi Lending space, known for offering competitive rates, innovative features, and proven reliability. Here are some of the major players shaping the lending landscape:
Aave
One of the OGs in the space. Aave lets you lend and borrow a wide range of assets across multiple chains. Known for its flash loans, dynamic interest rates, and massive liquidity. It’s battle-tested and governed by its community via the AAVE token.
Compound
Another heavyweight. Compound helped pioneer algorithmic interest rates and non-custodial lending. Simple UI, efficient, and deeply integrated across DeFi. It’s been around long enough to earn its stripes — and your trust.
Morpho
A rising star blending the best of peer-to-peer lending with liquidity pools. Morpho optimizes rates for both sides of the market and recently launched Morpho Blue, a permissionless lending layer. Oh, and they just partnered with Credora to bring vault risk ratings into the mix — institutional vibes, DeFi roots.
MakerDAO
This one’s a bit different. Maker doesn’t offer lending pools — it lets you mint DAI (a decentralized stablecoin) by locking up crypto as collateral. It’s overcollateralized lending with a twist. Think of it as borrowing against yourself.
MORE Markets (Upcoming)
A fresh contender making waves on Flow blockchain. MORE Markets lets you lend, earn, and borrow in a sleek, permissionless setup. With curated vaults and rapid TVL growth, it's quickly becoming one of the most promising DeFi protocols outside the usual Ethereum crowd.
Risks & Challenges
Despite its benefits, DeFi Lending apps come with certain risks that users should keep in mind:
Smart Contract Vulnerabilities
DeFi Lending relies on smart contracts, and any bugs or vulnerabilities in the code can be exploited by attackers. While top protocols undergo extensive audits and offer bug bounties, security risks still exist — and exploits have happened.
Liquidation Risks
Crypto-backed loans require collateral. If the value of that collateral drops below a set threshold, the protocol may automatically liquidate it to protect lenders. This risk is heightened during high market volatility, especially with non-stablecoins and memecoins. Undercollateralized lending is also gaining traction — where the collateral posted is less than the loan amount — adding another layer of risk.
Impermanent Loss & Market Volatility
While stablecoins provide price stability, lending or borrowing more volatile cryptocurrencies exposes users to price swings that can affect returns or trigger liquidations.
Regulatory Uncertainty
Global regulators are still figuring out how to approach DeFi. Future rules could impact how lending protocols operate, where they're accessible, and what kind of user verification (KYC) is required.
How to Get Started
Interested in earning passive income through DeFi Lending or borrowing crypto? Here’s a simple step-by-step to get started:
Step 1: Choose a Lending Platform
Browse and select a protocol from our DeFi Lending Directory that fits your needs.
Step 2: Set Up a Crypto Wallet
Pick a secure, compatible wallet from our DeFi Wallet Directory to interact with the protocol.
Step 3: Deposit Funds
Transfer your stablecoins or crypto assets into your wallet, then deposit them into the lending platform to start earning interest.
Step 4: Monitor Your Investments
Keep an eye on your deposited funds, earned interest, and loan health to avoid liquidation risks and maximize returns.
Final Thoughts
DeFi Lending is more than a new way to move money — it’s a new way to move. It gives users something TradFi never could: open access, global reach, and real yield that isn’t tied to legacy infrastructure. Whether you're stacking stablecoins or putting idle assets to work, this isn’t just finance with better rates — it’s finance with no ceiling.
We're not talking about small tweaks to old systems. We're talking about a full-on reimagination of what financial freedom looks like — where wallets replace paperwork, and smart contracts handle what used to take banks days to approve. DeFi Lending isn’t about asking permission. It’s about showing up, connecting your wallet, and being part of a financial system that works for you — not against you.
As infrastructure matures and adoption ramps up, the lines between Web2 banking and Web3 finance will only blur further. But make no mistake — DeFi isn’t trying to copy banks. It's building a parallel system, one that’s faster, fairer, and designed for the digitally native world.
Whether you're an investor looking for better returns or a borrower seeking more flexible terms, DeFi Lending offers an unmatched crypto-native alternative to the traditional banking system.

Thank you @presentstone !!! The link to the year end fic asks is here.
3 favorite line/scene you wrote this year
“Herbal. Please.” She rested her hand on her chin, elbow on the table. “You were snuggly this morning.”
He fumbled the tea infuser. It was such a small, fussy thing, though, that he might have fumbled it anyway. “What?
19 any new fics to start next year
I have two things I’m kicking about currently but I am not sure what their timeline will be. When I look back on 2021, most things I wrote were for exchanges and events and contests and stuff. Like a lot was for other people, and that’s fine but maybe 2022 will be fewer things, but stuff I’m more invested in?
I think my favorite thing I wrote all year (Reunion) was the one big thing that wasn’t a prompt or for something else, so maybe more of that.
23 fics you wanted to write but didn’t
I kinda wanted to rewrite Farore from Zelda’s point of view but I’m not sure that interests me as much anymore. It’s been more fun (for me) imagining other bits of her life or just some scenes from the original rather than a whole rewrite. Farore got written in a white hot I Have To Do This Thing in 2020 because I literally had no other ways available to cope with what my world was doing. I’m still amazed that the whole thing came out at all, never mind the way it got published.
Will we see stuff from that Zelda? Probably? My own world is about to undergo some big changes and I’m not sure where fic will fit in just yet.
24 favorite fic you read this year
There were so many but I really loved the fic of my fic that you wrote, Naive Melody. I’d gotten asked after things were assigned about backstory to my Zelda which got my curiosity way up, so I was pretty sure someone was playing in my big sandbox.
Farore got written because no one else wrote what I was seeking-stories about an older hero I could relate to better. I have reread my own stuff a lot, as a result and having a piece I didn’t know the ending of that also really did fit well with what I’d thrown down was really really great. I had a bunch of feels in the second half that were also very relatable and idk. I’m glad to have it.

One day I will stop disappearing. (1) the first ask about ships. Red Mars isn't lost yet, so what about Suwa and Takeuchi? (2) the second ask is about ships. 1,17,18, but maybe there is some question that you would like to answer, but no one asked it? (3) ask about mutual. I'm sorry, but I can't make sense of the question. Now I feel a little silly.
Please don’t worry about it! I do these for fun and when I need to get my mind off of things or just want something to talk about so don’t feel obliged to do them all hjbh this isnt your job, I won’t mind if you disappear and miss some. I appreciate it a lot that you do all of them I just don’t want you to feel like you have to you knowhgvhvvh <3<3<3<3<3<3<3
This got long so under the cut
Send me a ship to rate
Suwa x Takeuchi
vomit / don’t ship / okay / cute / adorable / perfect / beyond flawless / hot damn / screaming and crying / i will ship them in hell
I am the only one writing stuff in this fandom so I can do what I want uwu. I do ship them exclusively queerplatonically tho, I can’t imagine either of them having romantic or sexual feelings for each other. And I doubt we will get much more backstory on them then we already got (tho i am expecting we’ll get more from Suwa since his is more set up) but I’m just very interested in the time before the other vampires joined, the two of them would be all alone in a building full of humans. There is also the idea that Suwa was feral for a long time and we don’t know how he got out of it so I like to imagine Takeuchi figured smtng out, he’d be all over something like that. So I like to imagine the two of them simply finding home in each other as two things of same in the middle of a world they no longer belong to. It’s that feeling of home, acceptance and belonging I get when I think about them, rather than any romantic or sexual feelings.
Shipping asks
1. What was your first OTP?
HhHhhH The first one i remember is Soul X Maka from Soul Eater. Soul Eater was the first anime I watched when i was like ???? 11-12. And obviously since i was that age i consumed other media before that and probably saw other relationships but for life of me I can’t remember them. That’s probably because when I discovered Anime i discovered fanfiction too so Soul x Maki is the first ship i remember actually searching and reading fics for, sorta getting involved into  a fandom for the first time, tho i wouldn’t be actively involved until i started writing for Durarara. I still haven’t rewatched Soul Eater in its completion since i watched it that first time ;-; Every like 5 years or so my brother and i will start a rewatch and never get very far hjbhjhj we watched it together first so we wanna rewatch it together too but maybe at this point we should just watch it separately. We aren’t very good at watching shows we actually like together hvhjh
17. Are there any popular ships that you just don’t like? What are they?
As I said I think my shipping tastes run p vanilla so I usually like the popular ships or at least don’t mind them much. That being said I did think of few.
Endhawks – I used to be passionately against this because I passionately hated Endeavor but since my feelings for Endeavor simmered down my feelings for this ship also simmered down from ‘THIS WAS MADE IN HELL’ to ‘gross no’. While I do think it’s best for Enji and Rei to separate or at least distance themselves, I hate this idea of Enji immediately getting into another relationship with someone that much younger then him who idolizes him. Like my man, that’s just not what you do when you are recovering from being abusive towards ur last spouse, that’s just a recipe for disaster. I do like their relationship as friends tho but I don’t like the idea of Hawks healing Enji or being a relationship where he can finally really fall in love or something because that just makes me very uncomfy.
Gojohime – apparently this is??? Pretty popular??? I had no idea until Foxy told me ppl were legit considering it endgame. Like…I’m just really not into ships where the guy and girl obviously hate each other and don’t get along and the way Gojo acts around Utahime can classify as nothing but piggy tail pulling. I like ships in which Gojo is compelled to act more mature and responsible but not ships that make it seems like his partner would be his babysitter or his mom or something and that’s v much the vibe this ship is giving me.
Itadori x Nobara – this ship doesn’t have bad vibes I just HEAVILY prefer them as besties. I like that JJK has little to no romantic fumblings and that the main three can just be friends J it’s refreshing. It just wouldn’t feel right for me if they hooked up.
18. What is your favorite unpopular ship?
So this is kind of interesting thing to ask cuz most of my ships that aren’r popular come from me uhhhh roleplaying bnha for over 3 years I think now. Yeah so I used to be super involved into the bnha roleplay community and the thing is with roleplay that you start looking for popular ships (My first was Tododeku) and then it kind of….goes off all over the place with time. The thing is roleplay servers die out and you follow people elsewhere. Sometimes you stay with the entire group, sometimes you just follow 1-2 people you really like. You change servers, you change groups, you stick by the few ppl you really like roleplaying with and eventually you ship together whatever the fuck because at that point the partner is more important than the ship. With a good partner you can make everything work. I mained Hawks, Shouto, Shinsou and sometimes Tamaki and one of my fav rp partners (we mostly rp ocs now) mostly mained Sero so….we did a LOT of Seroroki. I very rarely this ship anywhere but it was very fun we did it in a lot of aus. Same goes for Izuku x Sero X Shouto which we did with another friend in such a nice domestic au it was great. Also Momo x Shinsou with another partner, we didn’t do this for long because the server shut down soon after but uhhh they did yandere Momo and it was such a fantastic performance it sold me on yanderes forever.
Some honorary mentions of other crack ships I did: Midnight x Hawks, Kurogiri x Hari x Kai, Tamaki x Camie, Shishikura x Shouto.
That’s just off the top of my head all of these were surprisingly very good and fun, as I said, the partner matters not the ship. I think this is why I’m like way more lax in shipping in bnha then like in jjk. In jjk I need a ship to have a chemistry I can consider at least somewhat romantic to consider it, in bnha just fuckin everything goes because I’m so used to it just being this sandbox I can do anything in.
Uhh as for bonus question uhhh
29. Do you like OCs (Original Characters)?
I like ocs a whole lot I have a metric shit tone of them and I’d like to talk about them but idk how to start in a way that would be interesting to anyone ;-; rip

Hi :) I’m know you’ve written fics where both happen but out of curiosity, in movie!verse (which admittedly I mostly ignore hahah) do you hc effie would move to 12 when Peeta moves back? Would it have been as difficult for her to live in the capitol if she was known to have been the escort that sided with the rebellion rather than the one that everyone thought was the enemy? What do you think would be her prompt to realise she’d rather be with haymitch when it’s not her PTSD like in book!verse?
MMM that’s a very interesting question I rarely touch movie!verse post MJ. I’m not entirely a fan of a “stay sober” Haymitch (at least not until a few years down the line when he might make the decision to cut out himself, bc it wasn’t his choice to get sober in MJ and I feel like he wouldn’t stick to it but I digress). As for Effie, it’s hard to tell. I love EB to death and I love her portrayal of Effie but the way they used Effie in MJ... I can’t really get behind it. She’s acting like her most flamboyant spoiled brat self all MJ 1&2 and 13 never puts her back in her place. I’d have liked to see a transposition of the scenes with the prep teams, for instance, or something that would confront her to reality, instead I got customized uniform book!13 would never have allowed and random comic relief.
Anyway. Back to to topic. Two options, I think. Either we consider purely movie!canon and we decides they started hooking up in 13, so when he says don’t be a stranger maybe he means that but she doesn’t take it to mean “please move in ily” bc they don’t have the “history” so to speak. In which case, I will lean more toward something where she stays in the city and take a job with Plutarch, basically filling out Fluvia’s role, by becoming his Chief of Staff or something. I do think she has the skills to go into politics, maybe not as a face but as a PR or yeah, chief of staff, or something like that. Higher up but behind the throne, you see?
Since she joined the rebellion after the Quell and was quite publicly the Mockingjay’s escort during the war, I think most rebels would be satisfied with that and maybe conclude she’s been a part of the rebellion for longer than anyone realized and she wouldn’t deny it so... She would be okay with them, maybe even well considered... I do think she would be in hotter waters with the Capitols but since Capitols invented the game, they would pretend and be very hypocretical bc they want to survive and, while she wouldn’t believe a word or a smile and watch for the knife in her back, she would go along with the charade.
I think she could make a successful career out of that. A career she enjoys even, because her brain would be put to use for once. And since she wouldn’t be as jadded by the war, I don’t see her ambition being put in check. I guess she would be in relationship with Haymitch but it would be long distance. Holidays, the occasional week-end in 12 or the city...
Maybe it works out well, at first, because Haymitch isn’t used to having someone romatincally around and that’s a good transition but after a while, I do think he would get in a frame of mind where he wants something more stable and it might put tensions on their relationship a few years down the line...
I’m a romantic and I love them so I want to think they would make it but I’m not sure how much a fling that started in MJ with the movie!characterisation would really work out. Either she quits and move to 12 (but she’s so ambitious and if her career is really working well, it seems ooc) or Haymitch moves to the city (which is NOT happening) or they find some sort of in-between solution where she takes a political role as a delegate in 12 or something...
Second, option (my default when I play in movie!verse) we consider a hybrid of (what we  think is) book!canon and movie!canon for Effie. We consider Effie  has a lot of character development pre 74th and is fully aware of the states by the time Katniss pulls out the poisonned berries and isn’t as clueless during the Tour and etc as she pretends to be on screen. So when she arrives in 13 she’s DEEPLY unhappy about having been “kidnapped” (probably bc if Haymitch had asked, she would simply have said yes), really upset by the rebels failing to rescue Peeta and mostly worried because she’s not stupid enough not to see she’s not welcome. She’s basically durmped into the enemy’s den and Haymitch isn’t even around to protect her (bc he’s in withdrawals). I like to consider book!13 when I write that verse and pretend movie!13 doesn’t exist, so she would also be “a fish out of water” - as was promised when MJ1 came out. I also like to have her wear the real uniform for that reason, I think it’s important for someone like her who always means to stand out to be forced into the ranks, because it would play on her mind and that’s interesting.
Anyway, book!hayffie do seem to have more history regardless of if you think they were having an affair before 74th or not. They have all those “of one mind” thing and conspiracy in elevators... They do seem to have a more... real equal working relationship, meanwhile in the movie, it seems Haymitch is doing all the work.... So if we take that into account, I think, in that hybrid idea, Effie would stick with Haymitch and remain his escort (and Kat’s obviously) in 13 so she’s more involved despite the hostility she triggers. Her being more involved means she gets to see more of the horrors happening in Command. She would also, I think, be tired by all the years of dead kids. That’s something that would sit heavily on her and I’m not sure book!Effie shrugs it off as easily as movie!Effie does...
What I like with movie!Effie though, is that she develops a real nice relationship with Katniss. That, we do lack in the books. And I really like that because I think it might come to play a role post MJ.
Of course, when we consider post MJ we have to decide what to do there too. I don’t like the movie!MJ ending XD I don’t like that Katniss isn’t hurt/addicted and I don’t like that they ship her off right after the murder. I like the whole “suicidal/withdrawal/trial” thing better. There is SO MUCH happening beyond her room during those weeks (months?) and that’s what’s interesting because I think that’s when hayffie’s fate is decided. (either they implode in book!verse - for a little while - or they seal the fact they want to be together for hybrid movie!verse)
Anyway, if we consider the hybrid version of Effie (movie!verse but with book background and the idea that the affair didn’t in fact begin in 13) I think it’s possible she just might be exhausted and disgusted by all the politics and worried about the children enough that she would just come to 12 with Peeta. To test the water. Also she knows her feelings, she’s mostly confident Haymitch does love her, she probably simply isn’t sure he’s actually ready to have her around him 24/24 in his house.
I mean if she and Haymitch had been dancing around the casual/not so casual thing for years, she might want to take a shot at being steady, committted while he’s miraculously willing. I can see it as a natural progress of their relationship assuming they took a big step in 13 (either by openly sharing a compartment even if it’s not official like I like to hc or even just by not systematically denying when someone assumes they’re together or even - which I think is plausible - by having an actual convo where she puts it on the table that she wants more and he actually awkwardly reassures her that he does have feelings - even if the words aren’t said yet...).
Now if they just started hooking up in 13, I don’t think she would show up with Peeta because there wouldn’t be all the developped intimacy and trust that they need. They both have huge trust and intimacy issues. Haymitch more than Effie, granted, but I don’t think she’s the kind of girl who would drop everything to follow a guy without being 100% certain he loves her without question. She’s a romantic, no questions, but she’s also pragmatic. I’m not sure we get those conditions with movie!hayffie.
ALSO I realize this is all my hc and basically book!verse doesn’t give us much more to go on but I really do believe with all my heart the only reason Haymitch would be open to having a romantic (committed) relationship post MJ (and take a shot at sobriety on top of it) is because of Effie, of their long complicated affair and because he realized he loved her a little too late. Two things in movie verse: either they were hooking up and he doesn’t have the *gasp she’s in the Capitol’s hands, I lost her, shit I love her don’t I?” reveal (although I guess we can still have him start realizing during VT and go from there) so the knowledge he actually wants her in his life full time is slower to come OR they start hooking up in MJ and he doesn’t have the years of denial and tentative repressed feelings so I’m not sure how we go from him being a hermit to him wanting to be committed to someone he was sure he disliked even though he was fond of her.
And she might have the same doubts. Basically a movie!hayffie relationship would have a lot of things to work out. But the thing with movie!hayffie is that Haymitch backstory isn’t explained (is it? I don’t remember. I blacked out most of the things I was disappointed about and boy was I disappointed with the Finnick reveal scene) and Effie’s background is very unexplored so it’s kind of sandbox. I’m too fixed in my own hc and visions of the characters by now but someone else might come up with very various backstories and backgrounds and make it work better than I could maybe...
If you read all that rambling and made sense of it, I give you a golden star. Maybe I’m way off base though. It’s been a while since I watched the movies. I really didn’t like MJ1 and 2 much. There were stuff I liked, some scenes, mostly papa!H and mama!E, obviously I enjoyed the hayffie... But idk, 13 is too different from what I pictured, not strict enough, and I’m irked every time Coin gives Katniss a peptalk that should have come from Haymitch. The lack of Haymitch is also annoying to me. He’s supposed to be a key player and he’s just in the background. Even Effie is more useful, I feel.
Anyway, see how my brain works? You ask a question and it jumps in a thousand different directions. I’m not sure I did a good job at explaining my thoughts.
But do share yours! I’m interested! It’s been a while since we talked headcanons and meta! I’ll put this on the tag if people are feeling like reading ramblings and discussing their own vision...
All hcs and meta are interesting!
