I'd love to hear your interpretations on those dreams at the end of artificer's campaign, the ones where you're trapped in a hallway with a scav and you have to kill them.
Personally, it's very interesting to me that in some of them, the player is the one controlling the scavenger (imagine a dream where you're someone else and it's you that's the killer, that's fucked up). I like to imagine that they began as basically arti's bloodlust carrying over to her dreams, but over time they got more complex, more detailed. Less of a violent fantasy and more of a reoccurring nightmare, maybe a symbol of her regret or a general disgust for senseless violence.
I have a headcanon where the dreams eventually make arti so sick to the stomach at the idea of violence she decides to give it up entirely, only fighting to kill something to eat. It's how I felt after finishing her campaign- I was so exhausted from the fight with the chieftain that once I won, I didn't have it in me to go around killing any more scavengers. I just felt bad for them and watched them run away from me. I couldn't do it anymore.
THIS THIS THIS!!! seriously, so many people seem to think that arti just genuinely enjoys murdering scavs, and... i mean i kinda get where theyre coming from, but to me it seems pretty clear that she is just constantly re-traumatizing herself.
like yes, she is consumed by rage, and im sure she does get satisfaction from killing them in the heat of the moment. but afterwards, i think it definitely haunts her. i imagine she tries to tell herself that 'they're all the same' and 'they deserve it', but she knows deep down that isn't true. she just keeps choosing violence because it's easier than accepting her loss. just like some people try to drown their sorrows in drugs or alcohol, arti tries to drown hers in blood. it's a self-destructive coping mechanism. as long as she is out there fighting for her life, finding enemies to hate and kill, she doesnt have to sit with her pain. but, once she goes to sleep, she cant run from her demons anymore. she has to relive her trauma and her grief, and she has to face the twisted monster she's allowed it to turn her into. theyre called 'nightmares' for a reason, after all-- they aren't fantasies about something she enjoys doing. even in the ones where she is still 'herself', she is trapped as surely as the scavenger is. theres no going back at that point. she has already dug herself into a hole where there is no choice but to keep killing.
and the ones where she is dreaming from the scav's point of view? that is like... the most perfectly brutal representation of repressed guilt i have ever seen. it shows that she on some level sympathizes and identifies with the scavengers she kills, that she's horrified at what she has become, and that she is inevitably destroying herself. all just by simply changing who the player is controlling. its freaking brilliant tbh.
anyway, i think that ultimately arti just feels guilty. she blames herself for not protecting her pups. she didnt watch them closely enough, she dropped them when she was running away, she didnt realize the blue pup got left behind at first, and she couldn't dive in the water to save the green pup. she feels like she failed them. so i think that once she took revenge on those toll scavs, the only person she had left to punish was herself. and she did it by going on to project her guilt onto every scavenger she saw. she chose to become a monster because thats what she felt she deserved to be treated like

Sombra and Ashe with a male reader who's the textbook definition of thug and smoke demon, bro don't fight with NO WEAPONS, NO CYBERNETICS, bro just fights with straight hands even when up against OR15 units and ends up turning 'em from a shiny useless bucket of bolts (excpet Orisa of course) to just straight up trashy buckets of bolts, not to mention bro's famous catchphrase whenever someone tries to convince him to not throw the hands with someone: "And who gon' stop me?", this man don't care who you are, if you Doomfist you still catchin' the smoke, if you Mauga you catchin' the smoke, if you're Winston in primal rage mode YOU STILL CATCHIN' THE SMOKE, but bro as a thug still got his honor and always keeps his promises as well as never hits an opponent when they're down.

Now her first thought in battle when seeing you is to be a distraction, (aware she does that anyways.) so while they focus on her you can take them down with ease.
“My knight in shining armour!” “I’m not in armour?”  “Ay, Cabeza de chorlito, let me have this!”
↑ That's from her purposely putting herself in danger, just so you would have to save her. Willing to ruin the whole mission just to see you put some overwatch agents in their place.
On the intercoms there are very few times it’s used. Sombra makes up 90% of that, it’s just cheering you on. Watching from every angle to inform everyone of what's happening, how you beat the person.
If it’s possible she will beg you (most times she doesn’t even ask.) to let her ride on your back or in your arms. Either around the base or even into battles.
Everyone is aware she could easily just teleport around and snatch the much needed items. But from now on she will have you run through everyone, following the path of knocked out people and omnics, to finally gather the item. (All too see your muscles and strength.)
Will either find someone (willingly or not) to rebuild some omnics built closer to your strength. (Of course it doesn’t stand close to you.) In battle she will hack any opponent, wanting to see you fight as many people as possible.
You don’t even need to ask for her to do the following: Track down anyone you’d like for any reason, (likely to fight) she doesn’t care if they are an enemy or ally of Talon. If you want someone or something found you’ll have it.
“Come here guapo~”
Her affection rate will double. At any possible chance she will be on you, hanging onto your back, in your arms, sitting in your lap during meetings. Almost nothing is stopping this girl from getting your attention.
Even if it’s not her favourite task she’ll deal with it for you. Any injuries gained from your reckless fighting she will try to help, (Has started buying custom bandages for you.) doting on any visible injuries
In short she is one of the many people that will enable your behaviour and activity, and will not shut you down.

It’s not often (never) that Ashe will ever risk herself as a distraction. Even if she knows you’ll save her, she can’t help but make a comment. “Need to work on your timing there pumpkin.”
If you allow her to ride on your back into battle, she does this with B.O.B every once in a while, but with you around? Almost all of the damn time.
You can run around but never out of her sight. But if you ever do she’s sending B.O.B after you to either catch and bring you back or to keep you company.
Speaking of, you aren’t going very far alone. If she can’t go you ain’t leaving without B.O.B nearby.
“Don’t you dare go running off now.” “And who gon’ stop me?” “Fine by me then, don’t come back crying when you lose an arm.”
If you do return injured she is the only one to care for you, (B.O.B) is sometimes an exception.
While she does respect omnics, closely the ones she works with. Even she knows that enemies are enemies, so while you’re out and about, bring her some scraps to upgrade her weapons and even B.O.B and other omnic members.

PIRATE TASHIGI HEADCANONS and INFORMATION
Not a captain by any means but doesn't join a crew either.
Somewhere down her path, she didn't join the marines and instead wanted to look for swords without being tied down to the navy and it's rules.
Still fights with honor and loves justice. Just not the way the people in the WG define the word.
If she did make a crew, they would be named the MEITO pirates because of her love of swords.
Her bounty would be decent enough but no too high and her method of attacking is swords, speed techniques, and Haki.
On her crew, she would be also be the singer as her voice is really good. She mostly sings about swords, coffee and justice though.
Her appearance would be ridiculous like in the Stampede movie but she also sports many swords upon her back and calls herself the 'sword liberator'.
-
IF SOMEHOW SHE JOINED the STRAW HATS HEADCANONS
In all, she would be reluctant to join but would be willing to come into the crew if Smoker or someone else from the navy joined as well.
She would be the crew's appraisal, knowing how much each and every treasure's value they came across and also would know about any swords they so happen to obtain. Tashigi fights with Zoro over who keeps what sword. lol.
Or she could be the crew's singer, since Brook is only the musician, which has a broader range than just singing.
She gets swept up in dumbs things more than Nami and Robin do when things are either relaxed or a certain captain is bored.
Tashigi is on duty to help the devil fruit users if they fall into water. Although, sometimes she herself needs help because of her clumsiness.
She trains with Brook since they both have the same blade techniques. Tashigi gets annoyed at Brook's questions and sometimes can be seen getting a little upset at the skeleton.
The crewmates that Tashigi gets along with the most are Luffy, Nami, Sanji, Chopper, Franky, and Jinbei. She rarely even goes up in the crow's nest because Zoro is usually there. With Robin, Tashigi still has some unsettled feelings about when the woman was part of the Baroque Works.
However, she goes with Zoro to get things for the ship mainly because she knows he gets lost easily and he will actually let her carry bags instead of Sanji who always insists on carrying them for her. Tashigi likes not getting pampered so when gruff Zoro tells her to carry her own damn bags, she's actually happy.
She happily eats cotton candy with Chopper and Tashigi is the only one on the ship that is allowed to drink coffee. She finds out when Luffy accidently gets his hands on one of her cups for the reason why that is.
Tashigi never steps into the kitchen unless it's time to eat or something. Plus, the more she stays away the better for everyone involved, much to Sanji's chagrin.
She takes her baths separately from Nami and Robin, mainly because of her body issues as in it's covered heavily with scars and hates when people stare at them, even if it's just the two girls.
Her bounty poster is the same as above, giving her the nickname, the 'sword liberator'. Zoro teases her about it, giving that one of his names for her still is 'sword nerd'.
She battles opponents that aren't too strong but aren't too weak either. Uses Yamaoroshi more as the sword is more powerful than Shigure but manages to use all three of her swords equally. And her signature move is Senbonzakura, just like in the Pirate Warriors game.

Niflheim General!Johanne hcs!!
She and her father got captured by Niflheim when Galahd was invaded. He gave her the family history breakdown while they were imprisoned before he was recognized by the Niflheim Chancellor, Ardyn Izunia, was reinstated into the Imperial Army as a Captain.
Jo was partially raised in Altissia by her grandparents. Eventually she decided to remain with her dad in Gralea around the time she turned ten due to a feeling. She remained in the capital until her father's mysterious death and was moved to Tenebrae for a time being until she could start her military service. She knows that Verstael Besithia and Ardyn Izunia had something to do with it the death of her father, and despises them.
Her duty is to the people, not to the emperor. The "disease" that's causing the people of Niflheim to disappear upsets her so fucking much because she knows what's happening to them. The same happens with the prisoners of war they have, which is why so much of her unit is made up of them. She's trying to spare them from a dehumanizing death.
How she was able to gain the right to conscription is through a very old treaty her ancestors made with the Emperor at the time. She managed to find it through the Imperial Archives and demanded the Emperor honor it. He agreed to it, with some minor exceptions that Johanne had to concede to enable to use it.
There has been a few times that she's been called in to do public executions though. She despises having to do it because this is also what most people out of Niflheim see her doing. It's the Emperor and Ardyn's way of making sure that if she attempts to make any alliances against them, she'll be refused bc of what they've broadcasted.
In between deployments, she and her unit take over watch duty in Niflheim prisons. This is when she recruits prisoners if they're willing or simply give them the actual care they need before she leaves. There's been only one account of this happening from a prisoner that was able to escape.
There's only been a few people that haves either bested her or forced her into a draw in a fight. Cor Leonis is one of them and he's the one that gave her the long diagonal scar on her back.
Absolutely hates the others in the Imperial Army who are dicks out for the Empire. People who don't count are: Ravus bc he's somewhat tolerable, Aranea doesn't count bc she's a genuine friendo and same with her guys, and (even tho she's not in the army) she adores Lunafreya so much
She has a complicated understanding of Glauca. She understands the frustration of the King's efforts, but not why he decided to become a double agent anyway.
Trained to use big ass murder axe. Much more adept with bigger blades in this au and refuses to use a gun
Valkyrie themed armor, helmet only shows her mouth p much. The armor looks heavy but it's actually fairly light to her, making it easy to throw off opponents that expect her to be slow. Underneath her helmet, there's red and blacks streaks that go across her face in line with her eyes. She wears lipstick that matches her hair bc it's one of the few things that make her happy.
Her armor have runes of an old, ancient language etched onto it that help protect her from magical attacks.
The treaty signing was the last straw for her, she defected when she found out what happened bc no one told her about it
Somewhat gruff voice bc she doesn't talk often except around friends.
They way she moves is akin to a stalking bird of prey. Especially when she has you cornered. She doesn't play with her food, but she'll make you squirm.
She's known as The Reaper, The Executioner, or the Harbinger of Death.
It's thread-dependent but she may have access to Ardyn's Armiger and magic due to an arranged political marriage with him and this is his wedding gift to her. She has yet to give hers to him.

exacerbation - chapter 2
1,022 words.
Minthara Baenre / Female Dark Urge Drow.
18+ rating for suggestive content.
Canon typical violence, sexual themes.
Chapter One.
Tumblr media
Blood-slick and breathless.
Minthara's hair had come loose in strands that decorated her face and tickled her skin. The heat of battle, however easily her opponents had fallen, out-shined everything else. She had only just became aware of the nuisance and solved it in a second.
Dawn had come and gone, the afternoon sun warmed her bloodied armor pleasantly. With her weapon sheathed, finally, she stood triumphant amongst her greatest challenge yet. Not the fight, over before it really started, but leading the goblins to success.  Victory was hers at last. She scanned the battlegrounds until her eyes focused on the only figure in the crowd she wished to speak with. Death had returned within the day to give her the location. She wasted little time divulging their secrets, though when it was time to leave she lingered like she needed more. In her own excitement, she hadn't thought to question it. Now, among the carnage, she hardly looked fazed. The same level of dismay as one might have during a slow fishing day. She had been dosed in other's blood. There were stray spots where her own had been shed, too, but the wounds were fast healing under a cleric's supervision. She looked as calm as the day she introduced herself.
Minthara managed to catch her roaming gaze and she beckoned the woman over. She didn't expect her immediate obedience, and yet she interrupted one of the chattering companion's mid-sentence to abandon them. The irritable glares at the back of her head were the most fuss they were willing to put up before they focused in on each other and resumed their bickering. "Minthara," Death greeted her as she approached, with a smile that seemed reserved only for her. Minthara couldn't look for long, but the revelry of the goblins was an easy sight to focus on instead. "It's been a privilege to fight alongside you." The privilege is all mine, you were unstoppable, flitted across her thoughts briefly. Even now, she had no idea what a saving grace her arrival had been. To be at her side in battle was a blessing, but to have all of the information she brought forth, too? It was more than she could have asked for. "The true honor is to serve the Absolute... She loves you fiercely; I see that in the strength She has given you." Death's chuckle almost sounded scornful. It was close enough to make Minthara chance another look upon her beaming face. In-spite of the threat of heresy, she was still so captivating. Her smile was too much, like looking into the sun itself. It carried all the way to her eyes. Her eyes? Minthara was confident that before she had looked into two red eyes, vibrant and deep as blood. The skin of her eyelid was raw and bore a small scab, the orb that looked back at her was a shade of blue similar to the sky. Something about it didn't seem to be... Natural. There was a compulsion that made her finger twitch. An instinct that she had never felt before and couldn't place the origins of. With it was a pang of sympathy, or maybe it was some form of pitying grief. Her hand felt a longing to cup her cheek. Instead, it stayed restless at her side. "Your-" "Eye?" Death's hand took the place that hers longed to be and her fingers traced around the perimeter. A mirthless smile crept it's way onto her features. "It's jarring, isn't it? I can't stand the sight." "It's not an unpleasant sight," She gestured vaguely, using her hands to help find her words, "It's the implication of the injury. A foe capable of dealing such a precise, intimate injury..." "It was a friend, regretfully." Minthara mumbled an echo, focusing instead on the trio who lingered far enough away to give them a respectful distance to talk. They hardly noticed her attention, far too busy amongst themselves. Friends. Her scrutinizing gaze lasted until a hand touched her forearm, just beneath the end of her armor.
"It wasn't them. He's long gone." "Wise." "And if he wasn't?" Minthara snorted, waving a hand vaguely in the direction of the extras. "I would have fed him his eyeballs, obviously." Death's laughter was so abrupt, so genuine, it almost startled her into smiling as well. "This is not a joke! The man disfigured you, your beautiful eyes-" The laughter stopped, as sudden as it had started. Inquisitive eyes looked at her, the mismatched nature quickly becoming familiar. The way they analyzed her and seemed to look beneath her skin without any aide, however, was not. Her heart beat forced even her ribs to thunder into her armor. Their eyes were locked and her wandering thoughts could almost get the better of her. When Death opened her mouth to speak, Minthara was simply quicker. "There is a bond between us. You see it, right?" She urged her agreement and was met only with wide-eyed curiosity. Determined, she continued. "I know what you want." "Do you?" "It is the same thing that I want." Using words would be crude. In their shared mind's eye, she painted a picture for her. Death, on her back. Body arched. Arms straining against the grip Minthara has on them, holding them to the ground. Her own body weight keeping the rest of her pinned. Her lips roam across her neck and leave her mark each time they settle for too long. Her hand is not idle for long and when it does finally come to stop- They both center back in reality, the other woman looks breathless. Flushed. In fact, she avoids Minthara's gaze initially. "Am I wrong?" A pause. The smile she was trying to hide was as damning as her hesitance. Minthara's own mirrored hers devilishly. "Answer me." "You're not wrong." Death finally answered, cool toned and roaming gaze both working hard to give her neutral exterior. The longer she tried to avoid looking, the more evident it was where her thoughts lay.
"...I will come to your camp tonight. We will celebrate this victory together."
chapter three.

Hogwarts Houses for the Heroes of Olympus, Apollo, and Meg.
I’ve seen a lot of people do this, so I thought I should do this and explain as to why I wanted them there. Spoilers are abound through Heroes of Olympus and Trials of Apollo as I explain my reasoning.
Percy Jackson: Hufflepuff. Look, I know a lot of people place him in Gryffindor. That’s a reasonable outcome one can reach, considering his feats could be considered immensely brave. However, Percy has often participated in his quests out of a sense of loyalty towards those he loves, whether it’s his mom (The Lightning Thief), Camp Half-Blood (The Sea of Monsters), Annabeth (Both The Titan’s Curse and Battle of The Labyrinth), and in The Last Olympian, all of them. What really pins him in place is when he willingly fallis to Tartarus alongside Annabeth by the ending of The Mark of Athena, which is a remarkable yet insane feat of both love and loyalty. He also has a work ethic, which is revealed during The Tower of Nero. Rather than just go straight to New Rome and live a happy life, he went to a hellish military school just so he could graduate from there with a high school diploma. If that’s not a work ethic, I don’t know what is. Loyalty and work ethic are key Hufflepuff traits, and Percy has shown all of them.
Annabeth Chase: Slytherin. Annabeth has often shown a lot of intelligence, but also a lot of resourcefulness and cunning during her time in the series. She literally tricked both Arachne and Nyx in what were impossible situations, and her goals are extremely ambitious, with her wanting to become an architect so she could build something that could last a thousand years. She also has a lot of Ravenclaw traits, to the point she repeated Odysseus and listened to the Sirens so she could learn what she desired the most. However, that was only once, and most often she used the knowledge she was given in resourceful and cunning ways, such as during the Last Olympian where she used the statues from Daedalus as a way to defend Manhattan. Needless to say, in my opinion she is a Slytherin first and Ravenclaw second.
Jason Grace: It’s quite tricky, considering we don’t get to see any key defining traits, but I have decided to put him in Gryffindor. Jason’s shown plenty of bravery, fighting Giants and Titans during his quest, but he also has honor and chivalry, which he shows during Blood of Olympus, and later on, The Burning Maze. Specifically, in the scene where he makes a deal with Kymopoleia, promising to make shrines not only to her, but to all of the hundreds of minor gods of Greek Mythology. As we later see during The Burning Maze, Jason was completely willing to honor such a deal, working on the shrines even while he was living the closest thing to a normal life one could achieve as a demigod. And of course, we can’t ignore the fact that he was brave to fight Caligula just so his friends could escape.
Piper Mclean: Slytherin. This is because during most of the time we’ve seen her, Piper fights dirty. She doesn’t stab a monster in the dagger, but charmspeaks the monster and stabs him in the back while he’s distracted. When claiming the position as Cabin Counselor in the Aphrodite Cabin during The Lost Hero from Drew, Piper uses the rules against her to get the position, rather than straight-up fighting her at the very beginning. Furthermore, rather than fight Khione upfront during the House of Hades, she bides her time and stalls the goddess until she can find a way to win. Though she has some traits that could go along with the other Houses, Slytherin tends to stand out the best. The only way she isn’t Slytherin in terms of traits is that she lacks ambition — we never see her have a higher goal beyond the quest, or any plans for what she’s going to do after everything’s done. Overall, she’s Slytherin through her actions, not her words, ironically.
Frank Zhang: Gryffindor. This is because Frank performs a lot of actions that are by any standard, brave, and often selfless and self-sacrificial. Specifically, a lot of the sacrifices he performs throughout the series. In Son of Neptune, he was willing to be the distraction against the Laestrygonians so that Percy and Hazel could start their escape plan. He was literally willing to burn his own life force (his stick) so that Thanatos could break free despite the very large risk it posed to him. He even stood in the way of a Giant, pushing him all the way to the Canadian border. And as we learn in The Tyrant’s Tomb, he was willing to repeat his sacrifice if it meant Caligula and Commodus were killed.  Frank is a Gryffindor through and through, though he does have some minor Ravenclaw traits such as his use of tactics against his opponents, way of making plans, or recalling ancient Roman history.
Hazel Levesque: Once again, this was another difficult one. Mainly because Hazel is split right down to the middle between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor. On one hand, she was so loyal to her mother that despite the fact that the lady got them into this mess, Hazel willingly sacrificed Elysium so her mom wasn’t punished. On the other hand, she was also willing to sacrifice herself so Alcyoneus couldn’t rise again despite the fact that it would lead to her and her mom’s death. Finally, I decided she deserved to go to Gryffindor, because of the fact that she willingly went towards the quest to rescue Thanatos in The Son of Neptune despite the fact that it was very likely that the god of Death would take her back to the Underworld. That takes immense amounts of bravery, not only because it’s the right thing to do, but she’s also putting herself at immense risk of being dragged down to the Underworld.
There are some Slytherin traits, such as when she made a plan to trick Sciron during the House of Hades, or the plan to trap Nike. However, Hazel’s a lot more defined by her bravery and empathy, which are more Gryffindor traits. If she had more ambition, a big goal after the quest it could be understood, but overall her Gryffindor traits are more prominent. For example, let’s compare how she got to Praetor and Octavian got to Praetor, and later on, Pontifex Maximus. Octavian often used a lot of word-twisting and dirty tactics to get his position, and only got there because Reyna left her post so she could help Jason. In comparison, the legion willingly raised her on a shield and collectively voted her into the position due to her bravery during the fight against Tarquin in The Tyrant’s Tomb.
Leo Valdez: There have been arguments over where he should go. All of them want him in one house or the other, but the most convincing ones were either having him in Slytherin, or in Ravenclaw. And I can definitely agree with both — Leo has shown immense amounts of intelligence and cunning throughout the series.  He’s also intelligent in the sense that he created the Argo II, multiple weapons, the Holographic Scrolls, and even Buford.
However, after looking through his actions, I found that he leans more towards Slytherin. Although his façade of cheerfulness and humor was used to disguise trauma, he also used said humor to make himself appealing towards bullies so they didn’t beat him up. He often used his cunning to morph himself to social situations such as his façade as a jokester to look less threatening in comparison to others.
During the times we see him fight, he’s also the one to not only play it smart, but also using tactics and dirty tricks, rather than focusing on swordplay or his own fire powers. The only time we see him go ham with his pyrokinesis is when he’s fighting Khione during The Lost Hero. Furthermore, in The Mark of Athena, rather than straight-up fight the nymphs and Narcissus to get the celestial bronze he needed to make repairs, he uses himself as a distraction and has Hazel manipulate the bronze in a place where she can’t be seen, which is a plan that needs a lot of manipulation of the opposing parties.
What finally acted as the nail in the coffin for me was his plan to defeat Gaea during Blood of Olympus. It involved a lot of manipulation of both enemies and allies, and in the ended it succeeded so brilliantly that everybody got what they wanted, with none of them being aware of the plan until Frank and Hazel explained it, and they were the very few people in the know regarding Leo’s sacrifice. Developing such a plan takes immense amounts of cunning and ambition, which are both Slytherin traits. Although he may be chaotic, mischievous, and annoying, Leo is the guy you don’t realize is a Slytherin until it’s too late.
Nico di Angelo: The thing about a guy who was pretty much a loner throughout most of his time in the series is that it’s hard to tell what values he has. Ergo, we should look at his actions rather than his own words. Nico, although mainly dominated by his naïveté during his younger years, has shown himself to be extremely brave. For example, there was him openly defying his father by saving Percy from his imprisonment, and later actively convincing Hades to stop his vow of neutrality and fight alongside the Olympians in The Last Olympian. Finally, there’s his excursion to Tartarus and later his willingness to transport the Athena Parthenos during Blood of Olympus. Nico willingly went there to see if the Doors of Death were over there, and later transported the Athena Parthenos to Camp Half-Blood even if it meant he would fade into the shadows forever. All feats are insanely brave, and therefore I argue that he should go to Gryffindor.
Reyna Avila Ramirez Arellano: Hufflepuff. Most of Reyna’s actions aren’t inspired by bravery, honor, or chivalry, though from a certain point of view they are brave. Reyna often performs most of her actions out of loyalty for those she cares about, almost in a Percy-ish kind of way. Her interrogation and cold nature towards Percy in Son of Neptune? Suspicion that he would be a threat to Camp Jupiter. She metaphorically fought against Octavian’s power advances because she knew his own ambitions wouldn’t help New Rome. Willingness to cooperate with the Greeks before the Eidolons screwed up everything? She believed that it was best for New Rome. Willingness to brave the Mare Nostrum all by herself? Both her loyalty to Jason and that she believed that waging war against Camp Half-Blood was not the best for the legion. Her loyalty and ethic just make her a shoe-in for Hufflepuff.
Apollo/Lester Papadopoulos: Oh boy, he’s kind of at an in-between when it comes what house he should be in. If we were talking about him pre-Lesterfication, I would honestly say Hufflepuff, but he takes a good chunk of those traits and turned them into a darker way. He defeated Python because the snake monster had chased his mother off of Delphi. He alongside Artemis murdered Niobe’s kids because the goddess insulted Leto by saying she was better than her. When Asclepius is murdered by Zeus, he retaliates by murdering the Cyclopes who made the weapons. And finally, he punishes those who broke their vows He shows loyalty, but in a lot of darker ways that we don’t expect. He’s got Hufflepuff morals, but they’re in a darker, more warped way than we expect.
If we’re looking at him post-Lesterfication, I would still say Hufflepuff, but now he does it in a brighter way and is also more Gryffindor. He was more willing to sacrifice himself if it meant saving those he cared about, such as when he willingly tried to kill himself during The Burning Maze if it meant Caligula would stop holding his friends hostage. He was also willing to commit more honorable gestures such as bringing Jason’s body to New Rome during The Tyrant’s Tomb. He was even willing to own up to his mistakes right in front of a god who had every right to hate him if it meant Meg and Reyna could be spared. He’s still a Hufflepuff, but he’s a more idealistic and less warped version of the values he had before he became Lester.
Meg: In a way, she’s pretty much like Apollo. She’s a Hufflepuff, but in all the wrong ways at first. We see this in The Dark Prophecy when its clear that during that time, she was more loyal to Nero of all people rather than her fellow campers, to the point of accepting Nero’s gaslighting if it meant she could see the positive view of him. However, she’s also loyal to Apollo and her father, which we see in The Burning Maze because the main reason she guns for Caligula is because she often compares him to The Beast aspect of Nero, the person who killed her dad. She in the end is also willing to accept and finish her father’s legacy, planting the seeds that eventually become the Meliai. Tower of Nero is when she gains the will to stand up to Nero after support from Apollo and her friends, and is later on seen taking care of the other children Nero abused. In the end, she’s a Hufflepuff despite the fact that she may not look like it.
Now, before you guys getting up in arms about there being no Ravenclaws, in my opinion the house is a lot more knowledge-focused, whether its discovering more knowledge, but also using it in a more academic and experimental way. Considering we don’t see this attitude or its corresponding values too much during the stories that we see since they’re more save-the-world mission focused. While Slytherin does have an intelligence-centric value such as cunning, its more focused on using such intelligence to manipulate and trick others, while Ravenclaw uses such intelligence in the discovery for knowledge.

Adventure: Queen of the Arena
“Go Find me another challenger,  go ahead, I’ll wait. These good people paid to see a show and by the gods I’m going to give them one If I have to hack my way through every beast in the pits beneath us.”
Setup: One name reverberates across the city, chanted by adoring crowds and whispered by treasonous lips, a name that echoes across the empire could even shake heaven itself with the thunder of its cry: “ VOLZI! VOLZI! VOLZI! VOLZI! ”. Champion of the people’s hearts and daughter of one of the empire’s most powerful generals,  this swaggering swordswoman is one of the greatest ever to spill blood upon the sand,  famous not just for her skill in dispatching opponents, but with the utter art with which she handles her blade,
Born at the front while her father was on campaign, Volzi Polvian grew up among soldiers and camp followers, in a years long campaign that saw the frontiers of the empires expand, absorbing vast swaths of new territory that earned her family honors beyond counting. When her father returned in Triumph, Volzi found hersleft thrust into the political limelight, but always chafed at the constraints of “civilized” society and longed for a chance to life a life of exertion and challenge once again, a longing that brought her invariably to the glories of the arena.
Everyone knows the story of how when she was only fourteen years old, Volzi leaped from her seat on the edge of the arena to save a favored combatant that’d been set to meet his death at the hands of a victorious rival. Taking up her champion’s blade, she disarmed the far larger and more experienced warrior and forced the preceding to a draw. While it began as a scandal among the nobility, it soon became heralded as the first of Volzi’s many victories within the arena, where she fought beasts who’s savagery and hunger cared little for her noble pedigree.  In those battles that Volzi found a space for herself outside her father’s shadow, and over the decade or so since, she’s yet to meet with an opponent who could wrest her from the title of champion, or her place in the people’s esteem.
Adventure Hooks:
While the battles against beasts and the executions of convicted criminals are real as can be, Everyone knows the warrior-on-warrior fights are staged; carefully choreographed exhibitions between performers trained to show off and entertain the crowd rather than slay eachother outright. Identity obscuring outfits and cleverly concealed mummers tricks helps preserve the “verisimilitude” of these warrior’s grisly deaths, while helping to retain a roster of highly skilled athletes that circulates around the empire as their performances require. One of these performers, (and old friend of one of the heroes) reaches out to the party to request their aid. Lately there have been ACTUAL deaths in the arena, and while the first one or two appeared to be accidents, there’s a growing suspicion that someone is sabotaging the fights to contrive murderous circumstance.
An Aetherborn known as “The Haze” controls betting around the arena, and allows those who wish to wager on the outcomes of various bouts and games to pay back their debts in either coin or life-force. Part oddsmaker, part crimeboss, and part manager, The Haze sees the arena and the crowds it draws as a wellspring of both livelihood and longevity, and as such takes a discerning interest in the lives of patrons and performers alike. The Heroes may find The Haze to be a welcome source of finance for future adventures, provided they’re willing to stake their wellbeing on uncontrolable outcomes.
Proffering everything from snacks to memorabilia to scalped tickets, the goblins of the extended Gleesqueak family are an inescapable presence in the arena crowds, hawking their goods left and right as they have for generations. In addition to their more mundane wares, the Gleesqueak also operate a lucrative sidehustle brewing up various alchemical goodies for the athletes and competitors within the arena.  While their reserves of healing and heroism seem downright bottomless, the Gleesqueak brewmasters can easily cook up something more specialized for a discerning patron.
Further Adventures:  While it may seem as if there’s nothing more to Volzi’s ambition but the accruement of yet more fame and glory, the young woman’s public role as “ Champion of the People’s Hearts” is infact a persona intended to protect her from the mire of imperial politics.  General Polvian was beloved by soldier and citizen alike, a true son of the empire who won such honor and aclaim for himself expanding the empire’s reach that the man could have easily swept in and claimed the throne on the back of a popular uprising with Volzi as his heir.  The forces close to the emperor knew this, and so recalled the general to the capital some ten years ago in order to keep a better check on his ambition.
After repeated attemtps were made to “disapear” the young Polvian and use her for leverage against her father, Volzi realized that the only safe place for her to take refuge was in the public eye, as even the influential power players of the imperial court would fear upsetting the mob. Her celebrity is a shield that prevents her father’s enemies from moving against her directly, and as long as she continues to play the glory-hungry meathead, they seem content to leave her father alone and settle for the occasional assassination attempt.
The murders at the arena are all a smokescreen, designed to look like someone (The Haze) is trying to fix fights in order to game the odds while all the while shrinking the bracket of available fighters and getting an imperial assassin planted among their ranks closer and closer to the champion. While Volzi prefers to fight monsters, she’s been known to put on an exhibition match now again when the Arena needs to draw a crowd, which the event organizers may pressure her into once their performers start dropping out in fear for their lives.
In addition to the many other services they provide, The Haze also supplies the arena with beasts for its champions to fight, contracting out to adventurers and monsterhunters for exotic game. The party might be first drawn to the Arena after an esoteric bounty comes across their bounty asking them to finagle some dangerous critter and transport it to the capital, alive.

The Volturi Princess - A Felix Volturi x fem!Reader Story (part 1)
A/N: This is the first Volturi- and Twilight-related story I ever started writing and it is quite long and elaborated/complex, as I tend to overanalyze in many parts. I have wrote a few parts until now and I'll be uploading them in the future. I have been quite emotional throughout writing it, trying to understand the reader's point of view.
A/N 2: I'm sorry if something doesn't make sense. English is not my first language. I also include Italian through the story, with translation, but I'm not a native or a speaker, so I'd like to apologize in advance to those who speak Italian. Enjoy :)
A/N 3: According to "The Amagi" on Youtube, Felix was born in 250 BC (their thumbnail), so I used that in my story.
No of Words: about 5347
Mentions of: Abandonment, Abortion, Anxiety, Blood, Bruises, Coma/Comatosed State, Death Emotional Abuse, Emotional and Physical Pain, Gaslighting, Greece/Greek Language - with translation, Heartbreak, Italian Language - with translation, Manipulation, Murder, Pain, Panic Attacks, Pregnancy, Suffering, Suicide/Suicidal Thoughts, Swear Language, Throwing Up/Puking, Witches/Wizards/Witchcraft

My heart felt heavy. I may have just escaped the cruelest vampire of all, but I also ran away from the love of my life, my mate, the only person who could fully understand me in this world. I asked him to run away with me, but, although our bond was strong, he felt obliged to stay loyal to his master, his creator. I drove as fast as I could, away from the sunny Volterra, and away from him.
-------------------------------------------------------
(Y/N) grew up quite privileged, in Vampire terms. Being born into the Volturi coven was something many vampires could only dream about. (Y/N) was abandoned by her parents when she was a baby, but Aro, one of the three Volturi leaders, took her under his protection, and offered her more things than she could ever have imagined. After all, she was his only biological granddaughter, the “Volturi princess”, an heiress to the throne; her mother lost that “privilege” when she met and fell in love with a wizard.
(Y/N)’s mother soon got pregnant with her, and then later turned her husband into a vampire to help her with her pregnancy, and stay together forever. However, (Y/N)’s parents couldn’t raise her because they wanted to run free and careless, not commit to anything permanent, so Aro took over and raised his granddaughter with the highest honors and privileges, “as a princess should be raised”.
(Y/N) was a mix of Vampire, Witch and Human, due to the grandmother, Sulpicia, being human when Aro found her; Sulpicia later fell pregnant with (Y/N)’s mother, and Aro transformed her to vampire, as he had planned all along. Aro raised (Y/N) according to his own rules and morals, teaching her how to kill humans to feed from, how to attack and slip away from her opponents, how to lead other vampires, and most importantly, how to keep her identity and existence a secret, not only to humans, but other non-Volturi vampires as well. No one could know that there was a possibility of a vampire having a child with a human, and that the child could be effectively controlled and raised as a regular vampire.
As (Y/N) grew older and older, reaching the human age of 25 within 7 years of her birth, Aro would spend more and more time with her, examining and studying her possibilities and her potential powers’ development. (Y/N) grew up to be extremely strong and fast, an excellent tracker with great intelligence and understanding of the world around her. However, Aro could not risk sending her to “Volturi duties”. She was his hope for a stronger coven; with (Y/N) in the throne, Aro felt like he could conquer the vampire world with ease.
That’s why he was always searching for the best guards he could find, to protect the coven and do his work instead of himself, Caius, or (Y/N). He couldn’t rely on Marcus, as he proved to be too emotional since Didyme died, but was still valuable for his plan. Caius, on the other hand, although powerless, was far more sadistic and “diligent” in following vampire rules, and (Y/N)... (Y/N) was just too obedient, following every order Aro gave her - a strong asset for the Volturi.
Aro was changing guards and trackers quite easily, disposing them when they were no longer needed or when he found better ones. He needed talented and strong vampires to serve the coven and do their work.
Chelsea was the very first vampire Aro created solely to serve the Volturi, after recognizing her potential when she was human. Chelsea’s gift of relationship manipulation was truly useful in bringing new vampires into the coven and was used thousands of times during Volturi's reign. It could also easily dispose of them, making their bonds with other vampires break at will; those vampires were isolated by the other vampires and then killed - Aro couldn’t risk letting them get away knowing the Volturi’s secrets and life.
About 100 years later, Corin joined the Volturi, just a couple decades after (Y/N)’s birth. Corin’s gift of addictive contentment was the one which kept Marcus in the Volturi after Didyme’s death - along with Chelsea’s to make him committed to Aro’s greater plans, and was also used on Sulpicia, Athenadora and any other vampire in the Volturi guard to keep them satisfied being in the Volturi. Under Aro’s instructions, Corin was keeping Chelsea content with being in the Volturi, and Chelsea was keeping Corin loyal to them, each of them using their gifts against each other, without their knowledge.
Sometime between 230 and 220 BC, while travelling in Rome, searching for additional vampires to add to the coven, Aro supposedly met a young, strong and ambitious fighter, who wished to become a gladiator one day, named Felix. Felix did not only look, but also was physically capable of fighting even with beasts, during his short time as a fighter, way before the Colosseum was built. Born into a poor family, his strength was his only way of making money, and becoming a gladiator was his only way out of poverty, a way to provide for both his family and himself.
When his family was almost imprisoned by Roman army officers for outstanding debts, Felix was forced to make a deal with them to fight, in whatever they ordered him to. Fighting turned out to be the only way for Felix to deal with his emotions and rage towards people in power. When Aro approached Felix, he was promised a good life, where he wouldn’t have to worry about surviving another day. Felix did not seem willing enough, not being fond of the idea of serving people in power, who he so despised.
Luckily for Aro, Chelsea was the one who “convinced” Felix to join the Volturi guard, with Aro changing him afterwards. Unlike previous guards, Felix showed impeccable strength, speed and talent towards both dodging and initiating attacks, eventually making him a permanent member in the Volturi Guard, along with Chelsea and Corin.
Felix was assigned as the leading guard for the three kings’ protection, this role extending to the protection of their two wives and (Y/N); though Aro knew that, if it came to anyone attacking his granddaughter, she would be able to handle it by herself. However, he still wanted to make sure that she was safe and that Aro would do anything to protect her.
For about a couple millennias, (Y/N) was content with her situation, being the “Volturi princess” and all that. Besides, having Felix in the Volturi was another reason to stay in the coven, apart from staying loyal and true to Aro for taking her in, when she was abandoned.
Every time Felix looked into her eyes, she felt her whole body burn - though, it wasn’t a feeling of suffering, rather a feeling of longing, waiting for something to happen so badly that her body couldn’t control itself. Although she was partially a vampire, (Y/N) would feel like she couldn’t breathe, like her legs were ready to give up on her, like she wanted to grab Felix and never let go.
Felix, although not admitting it even to himself, would feel the same way, but he knew that his position would not allow him to approach (Y/N) in such a way. He was just a guard - although he was the strongest of them all, and she was the Volturi princess, one of his masters, whom he was only allowed to approach in order to protect. He didn’t want Aro to know he saw his granddaughter like that; it could cost him his position in the guard, or even his life. So, he kept these feelings deep within him, not allowing them to resurface, or act upon them.
However, every time these two existed at the same place, the invisible sparks between them would fly left and right. And only one vampire was able to see them. One who hadn’t felt these sparks in centuries.
--------------------------------------------------------
(Y/N)’s POV:
I yawned loudly as I woke from a long, much needed sleep. I was the only vampire around who was able to sleep, mostly due to my non-vampire natures. I didn't really need to sleep on a regular basis, but when I did, I could literally sleep 3 days straight and nobody would be able to wake me up. “For my own protection”, as Aro said, I would always have at least two guards outside of my room’s door, in case anything happened while I was sleeping. Like what could even happen? My room was at the furthest side of this huge castle. I’m pretty sure that if there ever was an attack against the Volturi, it would most probably have been dealt with immediately, and the attacker wouldn’t make it anywhere near my room.
I felt the warm sun on my skin, slightly glowing and sparkling beautifully. My eyes, mostly (Y/E/C) with a golden ring around the pupil, could easily adjust to the light. Unlike the other vampires, I could easily live among humans; I could sleep, eat human food, my skin not being as sparkly as others, and I could control my thirst far better than others.
Since Jane and Alec joined the coven, Aro would show an immense interest in them and their skills, helping them train daily and develop their powers further, eventually forgetting about me. I would spend more and more days away from the castle, “protected” by my anonymity, getting to know humans more and more. The longer I was observing them, the more they would trigger my interest in them. They could feel true emotions, real pain, real hurt, real love. They had their families, they received an unconditional love that I could never have.
Unbeknownst to Aro or anyone else for that matter, I have started developing new powers, similar to the other vampires in the Volturi coven or anyone else outside of it. I have also started noticing that I may have an immunity towards others’ talents, feeling that neither Corin’s addictive contentment made me satisfied with being in the Volturi, nor Chelsea’s relationship manipulation could keep me loyal to Aro anymore. If it weren’t for Felix, or Demetri and the Twins, who have all become my best friends by now, I would have probably left.
A vampire named Carlisle Cullen had visited the Volturi and stayed with us for a while, about 100 years ago. He saw the way the Volturi treated humans like they were nothing, and how they were as cruel as to kill other vampires, with the excuse that they were exposing our kind with the way they lived. Entire covens had been wiped out due to such excuses, a way to eliminate potential enemies from becoming too powerful and find as many talented vampires as possible and force them to join the Volturi.
Carlisle was talking about a new way of life, where vampires wouldn’t have to kill humans to survive, a life where vampires and humans could live in peace, without harming each other. He was insisting that vampires could survive on animal blood just as efficiently as with human blood; that animal blood would not make them weaker, and that it would be a much more ethical and sustainable way to feed.
Of course, Aro and Caius were the first ones to mock his proposition, clearly not caring about humans’ feelings and pain. Marcus did not budge at all, his heartache making him indifferent to anything around him. But I was growing more and more interested in this alternative way of life; I was, after all, feeding on human food already, so that I was feeding on human blood as little as I could.
It was a few years after Carlisle left Volterra that Eleazar joined the Volturi. Aro forced him to join after finding out he could detect if someone had any special ability. Aro considered his gift useful in identifying if any of his enemies had any special power when in battles, or when he sent Eleazar around the world to recruit talented vampires.
Eleazar was clearly not liking the way the Volturi forced their ways and wants on others, and how they could take advantage of others for their own benefit. I could just sense that he was displeased and was forcing himself to stay in the coven, one, due to Corin’s and Chelsea’s gifts, and two, out of fear of what could happen to him and his mate, Carmen.
Carmen, a vampire from Spain, like Eleazar, met with Eleazar while he was a guard here, they fell in love, and eventually, Eleazar decided to leave the Volturi and run away with Carmen. Aro decided that he did not care about him and his gift as much as others’, so he let him go unharmed, “blessing” them for safe travels.
Just a few days before he left, I consulted him on my own powers. Though a lower member of the guard, Eleazar had his own room, a decent place to stay, and spend his endless hours in. I knocked slightly on the door.
“Come in”, a calm voice was heard. I opened the door and came into his room. Carmen was sitting on the edge of their bed and Eleazar was reading a book on his desk. They both smiled sweetly. I just felt and knew they were too nice to fit anywhere in here, among the cruel and strict Volturi.
“(Y/N)! So nice to see you!”Carmen exclaimed and stood to hug me. The second we hugged I started seeing parts of her life in Spain, the calm waters of Catalunya, the vast vineyards where she would spend the early years of her life… I quickly detached myself from her embrace. I just couldn’t invade her privacy like that. She and Eleazar both looked at me worried, as if I had offended them.
“I’m sorry. I just can’t let you “show” me your whole life like that!” I looked at Carmen apologetically.
“(Y/N), you saw Carmen’s life?” Eleazar continued, intrigued by my words.
“That’s why I came to talk to you. I..I feel like I’ve been developing a gift, or a few gifts, to be completely honest. And I feel like.. like I have a specific power one day, and another power the next!” I stated frantically.
It was the first time I have openly talked about my powers to anyone, and I was shaking just by the words that came out of my mouth. Eleazar did not say anything, he just stood there for a few minutes, I supposed “examining” me, as if a doctor checking on a patient.
“Remarkable.” He said calmly. He looked at his mate with excitement, as if he just discovered a lost treasure. “(Y/N) has one of the most remarkable gifts I have ever seen.” He then turned to me. “You, (Y/N), are able to copy anyone else’s gifts and keep them as your own. You don’t even have to be in contact with them. Just by meeting someone, you can obtain their powers. I have never met anyone like that. You also seem to have obtained immunity to others’ powers, kind of like a shield. I have met such vampires before. From the stories Aro has been telling, your mother was like that. It is likely that you copied that gift for her. Such vampires are extremely useful to themselves or even others, in battles. Like themselves, you can use your gift to protect others from others’ powers, beside yourself.”
That came too sudden to my ears. I have assumed that I may have at least one power, but I didn’t realise I could copy others’ powers. That is why I was showing signs of Aro’s power!
“How can I train my powers? Eleazar! Carmen! You have to help me!”
“As you know, we will be leaving soon. I don’t know if there will be enough time to train you.”
“It’s okay. We will train as much as you want. Please, Eleazar! Please, Carmen!” I started begging them. As if they were hypnotized, they quickly looked at each other and agreed to help me.
The next few days, before Eleazar and Carmen’s departure, included intense training, far away from Volterra, deep in the woods, where no human could interrupt us. I couldn’t say the same for vampires, but I hoped nobody would cross paths with us. Eleazar and Carmen helped me develop my self-control and self-awareness, concentrating through the deepest parts of my mind, resurfacing my shield and expanding it beyond my existence. I started to have control over it, as if it was an actual solid substance, a veil floating around me towards any direction I ordered it to go.
After Eleazar and Carmen left, I started travelling the world more, trying to copy as many powers as I could come across with, while also training my shield. My excitement for the endless possibilities was what kept me going - kind of when Aro would add another talented vampire to his Guard. His Guard. Felix. I wonder how he was. I hadn’t seen him in a while. I wondered if he thought of me like I thought of him.
After travelling pretty much anywhere I could reach, I eventually went back to where it all started: I went to Greece. Aro met Sulpicia here, apparently my mom met my dad here. Maybe I could find out, understand why they left me. I have never met them, but I felt as if my tracking skills could detect them through my own existence.
I started travelling through the country, hoping that they stayed here or, at least, that they’re alive. I spent about 2 or 3 years in Greece, trying to take in every different place, while also avoiding the battles that seemed to take place in every other corner. I was feeding off animals mainly, mostly when I couldn’t find any other human food. I was washing myself in rivers, streams, whatever I could find.
I was stopping by any village that seemed to be still standing, asking about the current situation. The Greek Revolution, which started a few years ago, seemed to still be going on. The Ottomans, who had been occupying Greece for almost 400 years, could not allow Greeks to turn against them and start claiming their rights within the Ottoman Empire.
Many Greeks I met and talked to, admitted that some of the Ottomans were actually being nice to them; it was only the Ottoman government ordering their armies to execute massive massacres against Greeks, and after all this time, a few Greeks started gathering up and planning a revolution, away from Greece, in fear of being caught. They started getting organized and finding possible allies to help them with the Revolution; they just couldn’t risk getting caught within the country that they were hoping the independent Greece could become. The battles were becoming more and more intense, both on the mainland, as well as on the islands.
I started looking for answers, anything that could suggest that my parents were still alive and somewhere in Greece. To my surprise, I crossed paths with many Greek nomad vampires all over the country. They were also fighting against either Ottoman vampires or each other for territorial claims; however, they all talked me out of travelling north, towards Macedonia. The region had started being reclaimed back by Greek humans, but vampires were also seeing the potential for the area and they fought against each other for the land.
All of the nomads I encountered were talking about some of the most vicious vampires claiming the land, their enemies being literally slaughtered and burned to set an example for other vampires to back off their territory. I was intrigued, and I knew that, most probably, I would be able to deal with them or flee before they got to me.
So, I started travelling north, through the woods and mountains, in order to avoid any possible battle between humans, though many of them seemed to hide in the mountains, preparing for their battles. Macedonia was a quite big and vast region, so I had to travel quite a few days and search every possible corner.
I know I shouldn’t have done this, but I was feeling exhausted from all the searching. I haven’t fed in quite some time, and my throat was burning by the familiar need for blood. I haven’t seen any animals all these days, and I was wondering if they were gone or hiding.
Sadly, I came across a human. He seemed to be wounded, probably during a battle, his blood gushing out of his body. I couldn’t help myself, when I breathed in the smell, the burning sensation becoming unbearable. I thought of approaching him slowly, so as not to scare him, offering to help him, but deep down I just wanted to feed off of him.
“Γειά! Συγνώμη αν σε τρόμαξα. Σε είδα από μακριά. Μπορώ να σε βοηθήσω με κάποιο τρόπο; (Hey! Sorry if I scared you. I saw you from afar. Can I help you in any way?)” I offered calmly.
The man was trying to suppress his growls. I could sense his pain. I tried to help him stand on his feet, and then I saw all of his memories. He was in the army, fighting alongside Greeks against the Ottomans, in Macedonia, just outside of Thessaloniki. I didn’t even know I was so close to a city, let alone Thessaloniki.
He was trying to pass through the woods, when he came across what seemed to be two red-eyed vampires, one male and one female. They tried to attack him, but someone else managed to shoot him first, forcing the two vampires to run away. I don’t know how or why, these two felt familiar to me, I could feel that through his memories.
“Γειά! Μπορείς.. Μπορείς να πας στο κοντινότερο χωριό; Νομίζω.. Νομίζω ότι είδα κάτι στο δάσος, δε νομίζω ότι ήταν κάτι φυσιολογικό! Πρέπει.. Πρέπει να προειδοποιήσω τους άλλους! (Hey! Can.. Can you get me to the nearest village? I think.. I think I saw something in the woods, I don’t think it was something normal! I have.. I have to warn the others!)” He mumbled in between sharp shoots of pain.
“Με συγχωρείς πολύ! (I’m really sorry!)” I plead with guilty eyes. I put my hand in his wound, searching for the bullet, while he was consumed by pain. I took the bullet out of the wound, and quickly attached my lips on his skin, sucking the blood as fast as I could, biting deeply unintentionally. His screams were becoming louder and louder, so I covered his mouth with my hand, while trying to shut him up or break his jaw. A few seconds later, he stopped screaming, and I let his lifeless body fall, completely numb and drained out of blood.
I felt renewed, his blood travelling to every part of my body and giving me a new kind of strength that I haven’t felt in a while. I still felt guilty for killing him, but he was already wounded and I couldn’t risk him exposing our kind to others. I assumed that whoever found him - if anyone found him - would also assume that he died of blood loss, so I tried to position him in a realistic pose for that purpose, as best as I could. I left him there, and continued the search for my parents.
--------------------------------------------------------
I was running through the woods, trying to locate the two vampires from the guy’s memories. My mind was chaotic, I wasn’t thinking about something specific. I stopped in my tracks. What Aro taught me, and what I understood from Demetri’s tracking skills, is that you have to stop, take a breath and realize your position in the world. Then, you would be able to realize everything around you and find your targets. I have successfully found other vampires like that before, vampires who I have either met in person or smelled their scent, but I didn’t know if I could find someone through someone else’s memories of them.
I took a deep breath and tried to concentrate as best as I could, focusing on the smaller details of the guy’s memories of these vampires. I felt two vampires running on my west, about 10 kilometers away, and I ran after them. They were running fast, but I was way faster. Within a minute or two, I was running right behind their tracks. They must have realized that a stranger was following them, but, instead of running, they suddenly stopped. I stopped as well, and we were now facing each other.
The female had long, brunette, curly hair, and the male short, dark brown, straight hair; both of their hair looked shiny, healthy, and rich. They were of average height and their eyes were piercing red, as if they also fed quite recently. The female was exceptionally beautiful and enchanting; I could only compare her to Heidi’s exceptional beauty. The male looked quite stoic and austere, though still beautiful.
Both of them on defensive positions, waiting for me to attack. I wasn’t planning to move any further from my position; I was only waiting for their own reactions. I felt that kind of a burning sensation within me again, like a feeling buried deep inside me, trying to find an escape.
Suddenly, the male growled at me, flames springing out of his hands, and being thrown at me. I felt my heart fall out of my chest, fearing that this would be my end. As if my body reacted on its own, I felt my own shield extending out of my body, building a wall around me and protecting me from the male’s attack. My hands started burning and flames came out, ready to counterattack the male. The male looked at the female, dumbfounded by what he witnessed, still in a defensive position, but ready to attack again.
“I’M NOT HERE TO FIGHT YOU!” I shouted at both of them. “I’M JUST SEARCHING FOR SOMEONE!”
The male shrinked back, the female following close by. “Who are you looking for? We haven’t seen you around. Who are you? Why are you here?” The male requested. His voice serious, but smooth at the same time; a voice I could only describe as the warm earth below their bare feet.
“No, I’m not. I come from Italy, though I think I was born around here. My name is (Y/N), I’m looking for my parents. I don’t quite remember what they look like, but I’m pretty sure that they lived around here. They abandoned me when I was a baby.”
“This has been our territory for almost 3 millennials! We would have known if any humans abandoned their offspring around here!” The female exclaimed, as if she didn’t believe a word I said. I didn’t want to tell them the whole story, but I had to show them that I didn’t mean to fight in any way.
“I never said they were humans. My mother was actually sort of a vampire, like you.”
The female started letting her guards down. “What do you mean sort of? I’ve never heard of a “sort of vampire” before!” She continued doubtfully.
“Believe me or don’t, my mother was born half vampire, half human. My dad wasn’t even a vampire before she met him. He wasn’t even human to be honest.” My eyes started stinging slightly. I could have had a good, happy life if they didn’t abandon me. I wouldn’t have to grow up with Aro.
“You said you were from Italy.” I nodded at the male, as he continued. “You never said where exactly.”
I wasn’t sure if I should tell them my real origin; I wouldn’t like them to know I was a Volturi, but I knew I needed help to find my parents. If they were actually here as long as they say, they might have known or met my parents at some point.
“Volterra. I was born here, in Greece, like my mother, but grew up in Volterra with my grandparents.” I looked down, kind of scared, kind of anxious, waiting for their next move.
The female gasped. “Are you a Volturi?!” I looked at her, straight in the eyes, swallowed, and nodded. “I know the Volturi. Who are your grandparents?”
“Aro and Sulpicia.” I answered so quietly that, if they weren’t vampires, they wouldn’t have heard me, my voice trembling slightly.
The female suddenly fell on her knees, the male wrapping his arms around her, comforting her. I didn’t know what was going on. Did I say something wrong? Were they scared? The sheer mention of the Volturi would scare a lot of vampires, but I thought that maybe these two seemed strong enough to deal with them.
The female started sobbing, no tears coming out of her red eyes, her body shaking. I felt something within me break. I felt that I didn’t want to upset them, that’s why I was hesitant in telling them who I really was. The male looked at me, pain in his eyes. I saw a familiar look. I saw me in his eyes, what I looked at in my mirror anytime I was thinking about my parents, or, sometimes, when I thought of Felix.
“Are you a half witch?” The male asked quietly. Something snapped in me. How would he know that?
“I swear, I didn’t do anything to your mate! I DIDN’T!” I shouted at the male. I didn’t want him to think that I would hurt his mate, or himself.
“I know you wouldn’t. It’s just..” He looked at his mate who had stopped sobbing, but was still down on her knees, unable to stand up. “..my mate is Aro and Sulpicia Volturi’s only daughter.”
My body tensed and shivered. If that woman is the only daughter Aro and Sulpicia ever had...could that mean..?
I took a few steps back. “AM I YOUR DAUGHTER? ARE YOU MY PARENTS?” I looked at them in disbelief.
Those were the people who abandoned me! That let me grow parentless, under Aro’s rules and directions! I was breathing heavily, in between sobs. I didn’t even realize that I set my whole body ablaze, until both vampires looked at me shocked. I didn’t feel any pain, but I couldn’t stop the flames licking my body, and in my frantic state, I started panicking even more.
The male started approaching me slowly, trying to not scare me away. “Shush, shush. You’re okay. You’re doing okay. I know how it feels at first. You’re experiencing some aspects of the life as a witch. It’s okay. Close your eyes and picture the flames in your head.” I closed my eyes and tried concentrating on the flames. “Now, imagine them burning out, becoming smaller and weaker.” I focused on the flames, imagining them weakening. After a few minutes, I felt them getting smaller and smaller, and finally disappearing. I opened my eyes slowly.
The female was standing next to the male, watching me carefully. In a quick motion, she pulled me and embraced me, stroking my hair lightly. I breathed in her scent, a mix of mountain flowers and the saltiness of the sea. Her touch was soft, and filled me up with what felt like a thousand different emotions.
But, I mostly felt safe. It was the first time in my life that I actually felt this safe. And whole. I felt like I actually belonged somewhere. I hugged her back. Tears started spilling from my eyes. That was my mom! That was actually my mom! After all this time, we were finally together. I felt the male, my dad, hugging both of us, and in that moment, I felt my legs giving up on me, and I finally fell into a long sleep.

This chapter is LONG, a lot longer than I expected haha, happy reading!
Chapter 16: Non-Standard
Noritoshi was in a shitty mood to say the least. He went home to his clan immediately after getting a summon. The clan head had discussed their stance on the upcoming war and is readying their jujutsu sorcerers for battle.
His half-brother had made a not too subtle snarky remark about you. "You've already gotten yourself a woman? Wonder if she even likes you. I'm willing to bet Homura's cuter than her." Secretly his brother was curious about you, having heard about your special grade status.
Noritoshi steeled himself, knowing his brother's playboy tendencies at his school.
"That's enough. I am quite serious about her, so don't even think of taking her."
He watched his brother shut up upon seeing him like this and left him hanging.
'Heeehhh? That Noritoshi is actually interested in someone? Interesting…'
Other serious matters aside, his father, as usual, asked about you, only for him to find out you've both gotten into an argument.
The head of the Kamo clan only raised an eyebrow. "That’s normal for every couple."
Noritoshi kept his temper at bay. But he couldn't help resenting his phone call with his father that day. If his father was less controlling and obsessive over their clan status, maybe it would have gone better.
No... He was also influenced by the elders. Ashamed as Noritoshi was to acknowledge it himself.
“We… broke up…”
At that, his father shuts his eyes, mood obviously souring.
"You are literally a fated pair, how is that even possible? *sigh* If it proves too difficult with her… well we had that list of marriage partners set up for you. Homura has made it quite clear she and her family would be very delighted to assimilate with ours."
Is this what Noritoshi wanted? A woman who obviously flirted with him as she lusted for power? No, he wanted you, who never inquired about his status. Just about his family, his mom, dad and half siblings.
You made it very clear you were worried about his family's well-being. And whether they would like you or not. You want him to meet yours. You never even asked him for a gift or much favors. (Though he had a feeling your family was pretty well off, based on your clothes and jewellery.)
And he loved the fact that he could breathe like a regular teenage guy around you. The only thing you’ve requested from him so far was honesty and transparency.
"No. That won't be needed. Y/N is mine. She is the only one for me." He spoke slowly and clearly. This is the first time he actually disagreed with his father. He'd lose his sanity without you.
"I expected as much, I've never seen you this determined about something before. Soulmates are so complicated." His father sighed out. "Do as you wish. It isn't wise for me or the elders to interfere with something as sacred and ancient as this soulbond you share with her anyways."
Noritoshi felt himself earn a small win at that. He was growing a backbone. "Thank you father."
“However! You cannot force her to love you back. Surely you know this. If you don’t get married by the age of 25, as per our clan tradition I’ll have you set up with another woman.”
Noritoshi inwardly sighed, resigned to his fate.
◇◇◇
Needless to say, you trained like a demon as the eve of Christmas quickly approached. Nobody dared come 10 feet near you as you perfected your Blizzard and Tornado techniques. It was normal to hear the crack of a sonic boom and see flashes of lightning around you.
You were hesitant to use your cursed technique reversal. You barely use flames and Inferno in general, but it can't be helped. But now you hold a pack of matches in your hand.
You lit a match and manipulated the flames. It danced dangerously around your fingers before you moved it from one hand to the other.
You were doing well. Spending a lot of time here on campus helped you to control your emotions and not let anger fuel your cursed energy like you did when you were younger. Those were such bad habits.
A wheel of flame circled in front of you. Very clean and stable. All of the sudden, a strong whirl of wind and empty space extinguished the flames like a vacuum … Only one other person in Japan is capable of doing that other than you.
You turned your head to the side and saw an incredibly tall man with snow white hair and a pair of sunglasses approached you. His bright baby blue eyes gently twinkling and peeking over the rims of his shades.
“Satoru nii, it’s been a while. Why visit me now?” You tiredly asked. He came up just a few inches away from you, staring down at you.
“I got a call from Hiroki. I’m here to help you with your special cursed techniques. It’s time, you’ve stopped holding yourself back Neko-chan.” He leered down with his trademark grin.
◇◇◇
You spend the entire afternoon getting pushed around by Satoru. This man was crazy strong. He kicked you against a tree. “OOF” you heaved.
"You avoid using Inferno. Is it because of your childhood trauma? I'm not shaming you but it's something you need to overcome."
You frowned at his words.
"You only have today to train with me y/n! Aren’t you honored I went out of my way from Tokyo to Kyoto?”
"Like hell I am."
“You’re not using the full extent of your cursed techniques. That power is your one true ally in this world. Trust it a bit more. Apart from your soulmate anyways, but I can see you and Noritoshi aren't exactly swell right now." Your eye twitched at that statement.
Satoru eyed the broken strands of red ropes that floated around you. Not a good sign. It was reaching out to the distance. Maybe to where Noritoshi is huh, Satoru wondered. Until he spotted one thin string, still very much intact and alive. He grinned.
‘This prick and his fucking special eye abilities’, you grumbled. He hit your back hard, “What bad language you have. Imma straighten you up today kitteeeen~”
He pranced around you and squatted to lean down to your level.
"But seriously, you say you want to get strong but you fear your own power kitten. Don't do that." Satoru pointed straight at your eyes. “Remove the fear of hurting the people around you. Because you’re literally fighting to protect the ones you love, focus instead on harnessing your cursed energy to fight. Your messed up emotions could cost you a fight, even your life. Doesn’t matter if you’re a special grade like me. At this rate you won’t catch up to me.”
You slumped to the ground in defeat.
“To be honest, I feel like my growth has stunted. I don’t know if it’s the lack of powerful opponents I’ve had lately.”
He sighed out so loudly and obnoxiously that your anger flared up at him. “Thaaat’s what I kept telling you. You shoulda come to Tokyo Jujutsu instead of here! 100% I would enjoy teaching you and I mean it. I could teach you ya know, and Yuuta is there as well. Another Special Grade, although his circumstances are quite unique and with the way he is right now, you have a better chance at beating him one-on-one since he’s a newbie to this world. And yet you kept saying you wanted to be here for your family.” He shook his head.
You felt as though your head cleared up all of a sudden. “Because I was here…. I was meant to be here. Satoru. I know it deep in my soul. Because I met Noritoshi and…. “ Your heart throbbed so loudly you heard it in your ears. A deep pain stabbed into you.
Ah right. You said you were over him. You broke up with him weeks ago.
“And? You’re not together anymore. Figure out your heart and I could let you reconsider transferring to Tokyo Jujutsu High you know?” He said with a frown.
Why does the idea of leaving Noritoshi behind feeling like you were carving your heart out? He isn’t anything to you anymore and yet…
No. Enough of this. You’re here to train and fight that curse that killed Sora. Your emotions were all over the place. Satoru came up to you and wiped your tears off your face.
“What are you doing to yourself y/n? Don’t lie to yourself. I thought you wanted to live life as honestly as possible.” Even Satoru looked concerned and troubled over your state.
You gulped. “Yeah you’re right. I told myself I wanted to get stronger and protect the ones I love. Now I’m just running away. Noritoshi at least has been trying to reach out to me, but I shut him down.” Your heart is hurting.
Satoru stared at you and the cursed energy that was rapidly pulsing around you. Then grinned. “Then... Fight me one-on-one right here right now. Let’s make sure to keep the damages to a minimum and take care of the buildings. All the other students are still here on campus. Sky's the limit since both of us can move well in mid-air. I want to see you control your emotions and fight me properly. I’ll hold back.” He said.
You took a deep breath and looked back up. “Challenge accepted.”
You’ve envisioned this countless times. You wanted to see how you could match-up against Satoru and all his years of experience. You weren’t expecting to win, but you were not going down without a fight. Your cursed technique is actually a good matchup for his.
You can manipulate molecules. Though you suspect his control is on an atomic level, and thus could overpower yours due to his finesse and 6 eyes. But you could at the very least try.
Satoru, on the other hand, already knew of your potential. 'She is the only one I know who can actually touch and surpass me, given that she can control gravity and condense molecules. It will come down to timing and refining techniques.'
“Give me 5 minutes to suit up.” You asked. He agreed. You flew to your room and eyed the katana of your father. He actually planned to give it to Sora when she turns 16. But due to her death, he gave it to you instead on your 16th.
The name was Kintsugi, because it was made of two halves before being welded together in the centre with high grade steel. The center has a core of a fine diamond dust that’s infused with cursed energy. It’s a grade 1 special tool that multiplies the cursed energy you put into it by 10.
“Don’t break it. Don’t break it…. But It’s Satoru I’m going against. It will break.” And so you put it back and instead reached for your best twin blades and metallic whip. You coiled it around your wrist like a bangle, before flying back to Satoru.
“Done preparing, kitten?” He had removed his sunglasses and his blue eyes were out wide open as they assessed your cursed technique.
“Yep!” You yelled. “Ah Toru, shouldn’t we inform the elders or Utahime sensei that we-”
He didn’t give you time to speak as he appeared in front of you all of the sudden. Rushing with a right hook. You quickly dodged. He kept his word and is going easy on you at least.
You exchanged a few blows with him, both his limitless and your spacial barrier active so technically, no hits were landed.
Until you warped the space and forced the molecules around them to retract, making you actually reach and hit him.
He must have expected the solid punch, because in return, he kicked you as he warped off your spacial barrier. You eyed him as you regrouped. It’s anyone’s game huh.
“You’re still holding back! Are you going to be like this in a real battle? Are you okay with staying weak? Or do you have to wait for someone special to die before you ignite?!”
Oh no he didn’t. Your emotions raged, and you tried to calm them down. But all you saw was blood red. You never felt this angry at Satoru before. Before you knew it, you had activated inferno, making the entire surrounding area, which Satoru was in, combust and burn up in flames.
You lit up a match and pulled the flames on the ground and trees towards your smaller flame and held a massive ball of fire. Satoru was gone, it was only soot on the ground. You looked up to see him hurtling down at you.
You barely dodged, before wrapping the flames around you as you used it to strike at him repeatedly. You both rose up higher and higher into the air.
“Special art: Goldenrod,” you shot a bolt of lightning at Satoru only for him to dodge it. “Don’t just shoot it from your hands! Electricity is a current! You can make it run through your entire body!” He yelled as you both spiraled and fought over the campus.
He had the energy to teach you while you were fighting. You scoffed, but listened carefully, generating electricity in your hands before letting it wrap around you.
You were both dodging and striking at each other with such power. The trees swayed violently as winds and rubble were thrown about.
“What on earth…” Noritoshi and the other students stared at the flashes of fire, lightning, and wind above the campus.
The sky darkened. Good. If you had water, that was another asset.
He must have realized this as he immediately activated his Cursed Technique: Reversal. “Red.” You were forced back, plummeting to the ground. You swiftly turned and saw Miwa and Mai staring at you with horror.
You pulled yourself up back into the sky, still filled with fire and lightning, narrowly missing the building. You twisted your fingers to the side. The flames turned into the shape of the Dragon and you whipped back to hit Satoru from the front while your dragon of flame hit him from behind.
He danced around your attacks, teleporting from one area to the next to dodge them.
He then easily extinguished your flames with a flick of his wrist, but your lightning stayed. He can’t extinguish it, because it was coursing through your body, constantly moving.
You both stood, hundreds of feet high above the Kyoto Campus in midair. Lightning flashed above and winds howled.
You’ve never been pushed this hard your entire life. Not with Hiroki. Not with Todo. But Satoru was really on another level of strong. Unbreakable like a monster. He didn’t feel human anymore.
You tried for a Mach Speed hit, which you’ve never tried on anyone else; it would kill them on impact. “Mach 3.5” There was a loud BANG!
Going at Mach Speed has its limits of course. You can afford to do Mach 1, 5 times a day. Mach 2, 3 times, and Mach 4 only once.
A huge cone of smoke formed behind you as you launched yourself at Satoru. He was still able to evade you, but you pointed one hand to him, quickly following up on another attack.
“Fubuki.” Your blizzard technique was a combination of Niflheim and Tatsumaki. Cold air whipped around you and you thrust it towards Satoru. A mini tornado has formed around you and it pushed and pulled widely. But you were in the eye of the storm.
Satoru dodged your winds, but couldn’t escape them all, wincing as some small ice shards cut into his skin. He attracted debris and rocks towards you. One caught on your shoulder, making you yell in pain, but the rest you were able to guard against with your winds.
He immediately closed in on you to prevent you from doing another full blast and punched with ‘Red’. You countered with a roundhouse kick supercharged with your blizzard and lightning, neutralising his infinity jujutsu with a bit of mixed gravity control.
A huge gust of whirlwind was emitted from the impact, forcing everyone on campus down to the ground.
“GOJO! TSUCHIMIKADO! STOP THIS!” Utahime was screaming at the top of her lungs, still heard over the roar of thunderclap.
You both looked at each other and knew it had to end soon. Rain was starting to fall.
He threw his back and laughed out loud. “I hadn’t had this much fun in ages. You’ve grown really strong. Stop me if you can.” And flew away from the buildings and into the surrounding forest. You whipped your tornado around you and quickly followed him.
All the other students that had been watching you go at it followed. Utahime did as well. They stood from a distance as both of you exchanged more hits.
You lit another match and let arrows made of flames rain on Satoru, weakening his limitless barrier as much as you could. Only one arrow slightly singed his sleeve. Damn he was good.
Satoru attracted your body with “Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue.” You felt like your insides were tearing as you tried to stop his force. But his limitless technique easily overpowered yours. You let go and rushed towards him with both your swords out.
He easily sidestepped and kicked them out of your grasp. The hit was so heavy, even though it hit your swords, you felt the force reverberate throughout your body.
Satoru grabbed your neck from behind, and for the very first time since you were awarded the Special Grade Jujutsushi status, you were forced down onto the ground.
You used your cursed technique to soften the blow as much as possible, but Satoru was relentless as he slammed you head-first down onto the grass.
Everyone winced as you hit the ground hard. "He's not human." Mai said. Everyone agreed, not used to seeing you at the mercy of another party like this. They were reminded of who exactly was the strongest sorcerer alive.
In order to win against Satoru, your goal was to touch him and move past his limitless barrier. Even if it’s just for a moment. You couldn’t use Niflheim or Inferno from afar. He would remain unaffected as he guards and stops the change in movement of molecules around him.
But now his hand was around your neck. Your twin blades suddenly rush to close in around his neck in an x position to gather his attention, while you use your technique to warp the space around his hand to weaken limitless and hold onto him.
You lashed out with your metallic whip, letting your cursed technique run through it. It worked and scratched his cheek a bit.
"Enhanced gravity: Output 30%", the ground cracked underneath the both of you as a massive weight pressed down. And then you shocked both Satoru and yourself with the lightning coursing through you. Screaming at the pain in the process.
He gritted his teeth as volts shocked his bones.
Utahime and the others stared at both of you. "What a huge amount of cursed energy." Todo said in awe. "Non-standard Jujutsu users are insane."
Satoru still had the strength to hit your lower back which caused you to heave out and stop Goldenrod from activating. Both of your clothes were literally toasted. “Haha. You’re a scary one y/n.”
That’s all you remembered before you passed out; you were out of cursed energy.
◇◇◇
Noritoshi rushed over to take you in his arms. Pulling your unconscious body close to his, he gave you a once-over. You had just fainted from exhaustion, there were no serious injuries. Good.
"Noritoshi," Satoru called.
"Yes, Gojo San?"
"Take care of her for me please."
He straightened up, "Of course. There’s no need to ask that from me." He then carried you to the infirmary, holding you gently in his arms.
Blood Bound: Table of Contents
Author's Notes: Me writing this entire scene: FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!! (x100)
Y/n was able to fight on par with Satoru, because he chose to limit his cursed energy output and match his skills to her level. A psychokinesis cursed technique would be a natural enemy for limitless since you can condense and expand space between molecules. But you still lack experience in battle. And if we were going to talk about Domains, Satoru would dominate the battle.

Zoro & Sandai Kitetsu
There is something that was bugging me about Zoro’s swords for a long time and now, the Wano arc helped put thoughts in proper perspective. Namely four out of five named katanas used by Roronoa are, in fact, a heirlooms; a burden of someone’s else dreams or ambition or honor that Zoro (consciously or not) carry on while Sandai Kitetsu is the only one sword truly and just his. Because the same as the sword was chosen by Zoro, Zoro himself was chosen by Kitetsu,
The best known Roronoa’s sword, Wado Ichimonji in fact belonged to Kuina who died the night after she and Zoro made a promise that one of them must become the world’s best swordsman. He begged Kuina’s father to gift him with her sword and to honor Kuina’s dream, he created an unique fighting style - Santoryu.
Tumblr media
Zoro could just replace one of his swords with Wado and yet Zoro’s fighting style is a fusion of his two-sword style trained since childhood and one-sword style used by Kuina. Which is his way to stay faithful to a promise made between them and maybe a promise between him and Kuina’s father too. That way Kuina - represented by Wado - gets stronger with each of Zoro’s fights and with him, one day will become the best swordmaster. Zoro has carried on her dream since childhood and in fact, their shared promise is both a great motivation AND burden. What was noted by Mihawk  (What burdens you so?) and something Zoro himself was well aware (“I may only have three swords, but the weight of our swords are completely different!“).
Wado is as much a memento of his deceased friend as much a burden to carry on alone. It’s Zoro’s most precious sword and at the same I think it will never truly belong to him. Wado was and always will be Kuina’s. He was not chosen by the great katana - he begged for that  sword and it was given to him by Kuina’s father. Because Zoro cared so much for their vow, when Koushirou dismissed Kuina’s dream when she was still alive. Koushirou granted the precious katana to a determined boy, so his daughter’s dream (and which it, a part of Kuina) could live on.
Wado is Zoro's most precious possession, but it is a “borrowed” katana that never truly was meant for him. It was Kuina who should carry on the white katana. Zoro only carried it in place of her, because she never had truly a chance to spread her wings. Thus, Wado is a memento, a shared dream, a burden and second chance (for Kuina, and maybe for Koushiro too).
Then we have YUBASHIRI, given to Zoro by Ipponmatsu in Loguetown
Tumblr media
Ipponmatsu freely gave Zoro this katana as an apology for looking down on him, once Roronoa proved how well skilled and strong willed swordsman he was by testing his luck against cursed blade. The given sword served him well, up until Enies Lobby, where Yubashiri was destroyed by marine captain Su, a man with devil fruit power of rusting.
Ipponmatsu did not tell Zoro that Yubashiri was in fact his own family heirloom - something pointed out by shop owner’s wife:
Tumblr media
but once questioned about the decision, Ipponmatsu asked back “what is wrong with a man entrusting his dream to another man?!”
Tumblr media
what implies that Yubashiri, like Wado, carried inside someone’s else unfulfilled dream of greatness.
In Thriller Bark, Yubashiri was buried alongside remains of Brook’s first nakama while its place was taken by SHUSUI.
Shusui was a black sword that belonged to legendary samurai, Ryuma. In Thriller Bark it was wielded by Ryuma’s zombie (with Brook’s shadow) and once Zoro saw the blade, he wanted it for himself, to replace destroyed Yubashiri and was willing to take it from the enemy's dead body. Though the fight was relatively short, Zoro’s skills were acknowledged by Ryuma and in result, Shusui was given to pirate.
Tumblr media
Zoro honored his opponent by taking sword and being willing to pretend the match never happened.
Tumblr media
Similar to Sandai Kitetsu, Zoro both chose a sword and was chosen (accepted) by the blade. But unlike Kitetsu, Shusui, as the most precious treasure of Wano country, couldn’t truly belong to him. The katana served its master well and Roronoa appreciated it very much, but since Dressrosa arc, he was constantly nagged by people of Wano to give it back. He didn’t care for their complaints and did not plan to do so, yet once asked by Kozuki Hiyori to return it to its rightful place, Zoro finally agreed. Because in the end he respected the dead swordmaster and how much the black sword meant to people of Wano. It was a sacred symbol, a heirloom of legendary samurai Ryuma while he was an outsider. Although Zoro proved his worth to Ryuma zombie, the sword (and Ryuma’s body) was stolen in the first place and Hiyori was willing to give up memento of her late father (personal treasure) for Shusui (a national relic). Such sacrifice proved how much Ryuma’s sword meant to people of Wano and Zoro, despite his claim, returned the black blade to where it belonged - asking only to let him visit Ryuma’s grave once the battle is over.
Shusui was another heirloom, a sword burdened by past and its meaning. It served Zoro well, but it couldn’t truly belong to him.
For returning Wano’s national treasure, Hiyori promised Zoro no less great katana - ENMA.
Tumblr media
A legendary sword given to Hiyori by her late father, Kozuki Oden that is said to be the only blade that even injured Kaido. A wonderful gift, but the same as previous swords, it is someone else's heirloom passed to Zoro. Another memento of a dead person. Another burden to carry on.
While Zoro trained with his new sword, Tenguyama Hitetsu (the creator of Sandai Kitetsu) told him the story behind Enma - Oden’s sword and Kuina’s Wado were birthed by the same man, Shimotsuki Kozaburo. Who, ironically, is Kuina’s grandfather according to SBS. What Zoro may have known now, since he did met Kozaburo as a child.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Hitetsu assumed that Hiyori perhaps recognized Wado and because of that offered Zoro her heirloom as a replacement for Shusui. I personally think the reason was more selfish than that. Once Zoro saved her, Hiyori said there was a prophecy that “in time of the resurgence of the Kozuki line, strong, kind samurai from across the seas would come to our aid” and Zoro fits perfectly. Even more, since Zoro’s hometown, the Shimotsuki Village is in fact strongly connected to Wano by Kozaburo no less.
Tumblr media
Hiyori, as Oden’s daughter, wants Wano to be a free, safe country again but for this to happen, Kaido must be defeated first. Zoro already proved to be a reliable ally. He came To Wano with her missing brother and Kinemon. He saved her and Toko from Orochi’s assassin and later, from enemy attack once the fight broke out after Yasuie’s death. He is strong (something she saw for herself) and to some degree has the samurai feeling about himself.
Above everything else, Zoro will fight in the upcoming war against Kaido for the Kozuki clan even though he (like all Straw Hats) has no real obligation to her family. Whether she believed in prophecy or not, by passing to Zoro her family heirloom, Hiyori burdened him with her hopes and dreams for victory and justice for her murdered parents and for Wano country as a whole. She gave an outsider Oden's precious sword that can injure Kaido and by that, placed faith in Zoro. She can’t use the sword, she can’t fight in battle, but Zoro will carry on Oden’s (and her) wish to protect Wano into battle.
Was Zoro aware of such a possible burden? Who knows. Still, he accepted the blade despite its dangerous nature - and any eventual burden (someone else’s unfilled dreams and hopes) to carry on.
Frankly, Enma and Sandai Kitetsu have a lot in common. Both are dangerous blades that drive weak swordsmen into madness and/or ultimately lead to their death. Both need to be tamed. And Zoro likes them very much, despite warnings of other people. Even manga presents their “introduction” as accepted and appreciated swords by Roronoa in similar way:
Tumblr media
Yet there are two major differences between Kitetsu and Enma, what also are true for the three previous swords too.
First, already mentioned and explained the matter of heirloom and connected to that “burden” Zoro carries on alongside. In the case of Enma, once the battle is over and Wano saved, all the faith and hopes put in Zoro by Kozuki Hiyori through the Enma should not burden him anymore. Yet since Hiyori entrusted him the memento of her father, Roronoa will need to make sure to never bring shame to her (and by extension, the Kozuki clan) in later adventures & fights he will face one day. But frankly, this is the same with all of his swords bestowed to him by people who were important to him or which he shared mutual respect. It is strictly connected at core to sword fighting philosophy; to be worth of great blade.
Secondly, Wado Ichimonji, Yubashiri, Shusui and Enma, all those swords are desired and appreciated by swordsmen all over the world while Kitetsu, as a cursed blade, was not wanted. Kitetsu was feared by people, put in barrels between low quality swords in hopes to get rid of it. Even sword maniac like Tashigi, once learning the truth about the katana, did not want that blade despite its high grade and low price on it. She was even sorry for insisting previously Zoro should take it. Kitetsu drove previous owners into horrible deaths to the point “you will not find a swordsmen who’d dare to use a Kitetsu these days”:
Tumblr media
Zoro felt that the sword was cursed, before Ipponmatsu had a chance to explain why Kitetsu had such a low price on it. And after learning the horrible truth, he decided to take the blade. The unwanted, bloodthirsty, cursed blade that brings madness and death because no one else would dare to use it. Zoro liked the challenge. Oh, he liked it so much he decided to test his luck (fate) against the curse of Kitetsu, putting his swordmaster future at stake.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The same as Zoro chose Kitetsu, the sword chose him. Like Ipponmatsu said, the sword chooses its owner. And yes, Zoro wanted to have Wado and Shusui but these blades were heirlooms burdened with someone’s dreams and greatness while Kitetsu was the unwanted, dangerous blade with a horrible past that Zoro faced only with his own strong will. No hidden promises to carry on, no ambitions or honor or hopes passed on him by previous owners. No legendary status to live up. Like Wado. Like Shusui. Like Yubashiri. Like Enma.
Sandai Kitetsu is this wild, bloodthirsty sword that was challenged by Zoro and decided to spare this insane man who looked at it, felt the cursed nature and did not throw it away but appreciated it. Something that, I imagine, didn’t happen in years. And there is very strong bond between Roronoa and Kitetsu, because Zoro always can tell apart the cursed blade from other swords
Tumblr media
and he kept Kitetsu usually in left (dominant) hand during fight. All those little details give the impression Kitetsu is much more spiritually connected to Zoro’s core than Wado.
In short, Sandai Kitetsu was the only masterless sword Zoro picked solely by and for himself that did not burden him with sentiments, past promises or hopes. And though the sword was “problematic child”, its demonic nature seems to suit Zoro’s own very well.

The Great Hall was anything but calm. All of the students had been ushered to the House tables and were listening to Professor McGonagall, who was giving orders left and right. She was explaining that all the students that weren't of age were going to be evacuated for their safety.
When McGonagall had finished speaking multiple students started asking questions. You didn't pay them any mind and instead noticed Harry wandering around the edges of the room. While you were watching Harry a cold and piercing voice seemed to be speaking from all directions.
"I know that you are preparing to fight. Your efforts are futile. You cannot fight me. I do not want to kill you. I have great respect for the teachers of Hogwarts. I do not want to spill magical blood," the voice boomed out, pausing for a second. At first many had screamed but now the Great Hall was silent. "Give me Harry Potter, and none shall be harmed. Give me Harry Potter, and I shall leave the school untouched. Give me Harry Potter, and you will be rewarded. You have until midnight."
The voice ceased. Everyone's gazes turned to Harry. He turned pale and unmoving. The only voice that spoke was Pansy Parkinson, who was seated at the Slytherin table, "There he is! He's right there! Take him!"
You never liked Pansy. She was always talking ill of others and draped herself across anyone willing to listen to her. You had no pleasant memories of Pansy from when you were a student at Hogwarts. "Bloody hell! Just shut it Pansy!" you yelled back. "We are not handing him over!"
She turned to you with a glare but sat back down as all the other tables stood up and pulled their wands towards her. It was a sight to behold. All the houses other than Slytherin had come to Harry's defense.
McGonagall smiled at you and the rest of the Hall and addressed Pansy, "Thank you Miss Parkinson. You and the rest of your house can do the honors of leaving first. Please follow Mr. Filch."
Remus, Kingsley, and the rest of the professors began to devise a plan of attack, dividing themselves up to different areas of the castle and grounds. Remus would be going to the grounds with students and you would be going with him. You were prepared to fight. You could feel Voldemort's defeat coming. You had confidence in everyone around you. Together, you would rid the world of the Dark Lord.
"Are you alright?" Remus asked from beside you.
"Yes. I'm just ready to fight. This has gone on for far too long. I'm ready for him to be gone."
"As I am. Y/N?"
"Yes?"
"I'm going to be with you the whole time. I won't let anything happen to you. I love you," he said. He leaned over and kissed your forehead, lips lingering for a while.
"I love you too Remus. I won't let anything happen to you either. I promise that we're both going to make it out of this."
"I admire your confidence, love."
After all the houses had been evacuated, a few Hufflepuff and Ravenclaws stayed behind, and half the Gryffindors. McGonagall had to pick out the underage Gryffindors that stayed behind and send them away. You had to hand it to them though, they were dedicated to the cause.
Kingsley rose to the front and began to speak, "We've got half an hour until midnight so we must act fast. A battle plan has been made between the Hogwarts teachers and the Order of the Phoenix. McGonagall, Flitwick, and Sprout are going to take fighters up to Ravenclaw, Astronomy, and Gryffindor towers for a good vantage point to do spells. Remus, Arthur, and I will be taking groups to the grounds. We need somebody to set up defense for the entrances of the passageways-"
"That's a job for us!" Fred said, indicating to himself and George. Of course the twins would want to do that. They knew every passageway like it was the back of their hands. When you were at Hogwarts you would sneak around with them and never get caught thanks to the secret passages.
Kingsley nodded and resumed talking, "Leaders up here and we'll divide troops!"
You followed Remus to stand next to Kingsley. The other professors lined up as well. You couldn't help but notice how determined everyone looked. Even Professor Flitwick looked menacing.
Kingsley began to divide the students, sending them to the different groups of adults. You noticed that Neville had been sent to Professor Sprout and Lee Jordan was sent with Fred and George.
Arthur, Kingsley, and Remus had a mixed group made up of mostly Gryffindors. You knew most of them and they acknowledged you as a leader as well, being two or three years their senior. One of the people in your group was Seamus Finnigan, who had been instructed to create explosions, which apparently he did often.
You and the rest of the group began to make your way through the castle, down to the grounds where Death Eaters were trying to get in. Students were following their group leaders throughout the castle as you walked by, getting into their positions. Remus was holding your hand as he led the group and walked briskly down the stairs. He had a determined stride and his eyebrows were furrowed.
Outside, the ground group began to split up, readying themselves for the incoming Death Eaters. Not only were there Death Eaters, there were gigantic spiders coming from the forest as well. You and the rest of the ground troops began to move forward, meeting Voldemort's followers in the middle. People on brooms swooped by overhead, and started to drop bombs on the groups of Death Eaters. You couldn't mistake the leader of the people on brooms, Oliver Wood.
Streaks of light began to pierce and color the air around you. Shouting came from all sides. You were shooting spell after spell at the incoming Death Eaters and spiders. Remus stayed by your side, also shooting out spells faster than you imagined possible. You stayed focused, watching your surroundings. The casualties had already started to rise on both sides. Bodies dropped and the Death Eaters began to converge onto the grounds. You and the others were trying your hardest to keep them at bay, but they wouldn't be held for much longer.
You kept sending out spells as fast as you could, hitting Death Eaters in any spot possible. Shouts of "Expelliarmus! Stupefy!" and "Avada Kedavra!" rang out in the night air. When you looked over you saw Remus dueling a Death Eater that you recognized, Dolohov. No Death Eaters were coming your way, most occupied with fighting others. Dolohov hadn't noticed you so you took the chance to shout out "Expelliarmus!" giving Remus the chance to stun him.
He nodded at you and breathed heavily, moving his eyesight to more incoming enemies. A man was headed straight for you, wand pointed at your chest. You lunged out of the way, the spell shattering a window behind you. Moving in on him, you yelled "Stupefy!" It missed him by inches, which he seemed to find amusing. He cackled and screamed "Avada Kedavra!"
You jumped out of the way just in time, the spell whizzing by your head. You got back to your feet, sending out another spell. That one hit him and he landed on the ground with a thud. As you ran towards the castle, where the Death Eaters were now getting inside, you whipped your head back and forth looking for Remus.
He was engaged in a tight battle. He overpowered his opponent and sent her flying into the wall. An explosion sounded somewhere to your left and rubble flew everywhere. Large pieces of cement fell on top of a few of Voldemort's followers and spiders. The remaining students took a breath, relieved from the hoard of Death Eaters that they were dueling.
The battle had mostly moved inside, Death Eaters working through the crowds of students and teachers alike. They were all a blur as you ran past, followed by Remus, who was panting.
You ran through the doors with him close at your side. Flitwick and Kingsley were already in the halls, each fighting furiously. Neville came into your line of sight, holding an armful of Venomous Tentacula.
You and Remus ran to the Great Hall, seeing a grey werewolf in your path. You had no doubt it was Fenrir Greyback and the sight infuriated you. He saw you and Remus at the same time you saw him. Picking between the two of you he lunged at Remus, sending him to the floor.
It was so sudden you didn't know it had happened. He was on top of Remus, rearing his head back to bite him when he was hit by a spell. His animal form went flying into the wall. He was getting back to his feet when you rushed at him screaming "AVADA KEDAVRA!" You were so filled with rage you felt no remorse seeing his limp, grey, werewolf body. After all, he deserved it for all he had done. He had killed and harmed many people, including your parents.
Overhead you heard Professor Trelawney shout, "Well done! That bastard deserved it!" She hurried away, holding crystal balls in her arms. She threw them with incredible force and then used her wand to direct them through the windows.
You ran over to Remus, who hadn't moved from the floor. You fell to your knees beside him. He didn't move when you shook him. Tears began to fill your eyes, "Remus? Remus! Remus wake up! WAKE UP!"

Is it just me or is it weird that Megumi has such a low survival percentage compared to Keiji's? Like, with the way he's talked about her and from what we've seen, you'd think she would be a lot more willing to do whatever it takes to survive the Death Game, right? or maybe it's just that the low percentage is bcuz in a majority of the simulations, like in the actual Game, Keiji kills her somehow?
Definitely not just you! That’s my theory for Megumi’s low percentage as well!!
Tumblr media
Part of the reason I’m so invested in the Percentage Papers is because I love to imagine what the numbers tell us about the relationships these characters had with each other in the simulations. For example, since Alice’s percentage is slightly lower than Reko’s, that makes me imagine that there were more scenarios where Alice sacrificed himself so that his sister could live.
In contrast, the fact that Megumi’s percentage is significantly lower than Keiji’s percentage makes me imagine that he frequently ensured her death! Megumi comes into this game with a huge disadvantage; she has an enemy. (And not just any enemy, but Keiji.) Not only did Megumi shatter Keiji’s idealistic dreams about the police, but she knows incriminating facts about him. Keiji has emotional and logical reasons to justify her death, if he wants to survive.
I’m trying to keep my hopes low for the game making Megumi a more complex and sympathetic character, but her cruel death—along with her very low survival rate in comparison to Keiji’s—already makes her a tragic figure in my eyes. I would like it very much if Nankidai fleshed her out more, and if you go into my tag for her name, you’ll find other meta-writers speculating how she could be written in a more sympathetic light. That would certainly force Keiji to rethink his actions, which would be compelling!
I don’t have much to add on that front, since other folks have written about that topic so well, but I do have a lot of headcanons about how Megumi could have behaved in simulations where she survived her First Trial. She could have been a fascinating figure—a shady lady with a dark past who maybe tries to “keep order” and be “Team Mom.” She’s police! We can trust the police, right?? We could have had a real Bad Bitch on our hands to parallel everyone’s favorite Sexy Bad Boy Mr. Logic. What shenanigans will she get up to?
First of all, I imagine there were some scenarios where Keiji and Megumi both survived their First Trial, and they formed an uneasy alliance. Maybe Megumi agrees to maintain the lie that Keiji is a policeman. They try to act like friendly partners in front of everyone, but there’s tension bubbling beneath.
I love to imagine that Megumi sees firsthand how coldhearted and logical Keiji has become, and she has a crushing realization that she created this monster. This would be especially sad if she did care about Keiji, and she justified everything she did for him based on that. And then this realization sends her spiraling into thinking about all the awful things she’s done and justified over the years.
At that point, Megumi could either double-down on her stubborn commitments and become more ruthless, or she could use this opportunity to grow and redeem herself.
If she decides to give into selfish temptations, she could betray Keiji and throw him to the wolves. She could describe his backstory in the least sympathetic way possible, while deflecting her own culpability. It would be tricky, since Keiji is cunning and he could fight back, but not impossible. Then, with her most dangerous opponent out of the way, she uses her powerful position to sway discussions however she likes. She could pick off the others one by one, leading to her 4.9% survival rate.
Or, perhaps she crumples down from guilt of betraying her former friend, and she loses the will to survive.
I really like to imagine that she could have redeemed herself though. I think that Megumi’s character deserves mercy and redemption as much as Keiji does. Perhaps she tries to make things right by Keiji and help him regain his sense of honor. She reaches out to him with more emotional vulnerability, even while she knows that he could kill her, and she thinks to herself that she might even deserve it.
And maybe, in some scenarios, that works, and Megumi and Keiji’s alliance becomes genuine. And they both make more selfless choices after that point, to be True Protectors of the group.
Thanks for asking about her! I have a lot of feelings about both Megumi and Kugie, two characters we may not even get to meet in the story. But I still find them fascinating.

Tandreth and the Dragon
Idunn, Dragonborn, has Tandreth, Grandmaster of the Thieves’ Guild, as her captive. Taking him to Windhelm for judgement after he fails to steal from her, fate has different plans in store - and a lifelong thief makes a choice of selflessness that will change his life forever. A hero dies, and another lives.
--
Tandreth’s nose had begun to itch.
The bruise the great ox of a woman in front of him had given him was starting to fade, and with healing flesh came the itch. He wanted to scratch it desperately, but his hands were bound - and the woman in front of him held his leash. Idunn, her name was - not uncommon among Nords, and though she was a little smaller than her kinsmen she made up for it with her bullheadedness. All he’d done was try to snatch the silver amulet around her neck - and she’d taken it upon herself to drag him back to Windhelm to be prosecuted for it.
They were only just within the border of Eastmarch when she’d caught him, and three days on the road saw them making slow progress through the jarling’s hydrothermal plains. Three times he’d attempted to escape, and three times he’d been pinned to the ground with her fist raised and threatening to break his nose.
He liked his nose - it being intact was a point of pride for him, and so he resigned himself to managing a prison break from the Stormcloak’s cells.
Tandreth kicked a pebble down the path in front of them, knowing it would annoy his captor. It was all the rebellion he was able to have - bothering both his captor and her horse. The beast was a beautiful dapple-grey, beloved by its owner and loaded with saddlebags. He wondered if it was her only friend in the world, and was tempted to say so - but decided that such a cruel remark was best saved for when he needed to cut with words.
Besides, it wasn’t as if he had much room to talk. He hadn’t even a horse - long lived as he was, animals died quickly. Men only died slightly less quickly. Loss was something he’d spent his life trying to avoid - he’d tasted enough of it.
His gaze followed the line of rope from his bonds to Idunn’s free hand, resentment bubbling in him. It was all a giant waste of time, yet here they were - a thief, an ox, and a horse. The start of a bad joke travelling north to Windhelm, the stench of Eastmarch’s hot springs thick and pungent as overcooked eggs.
“Could you just save me the trouble and kill me here?” he finally broke the silence, resentment boiling over. “My feet hurt, and I think the stench is going to drive me mad.”
“Then you can greet Sheogorath for me.” Idunn said dismissively, his attempts to annoy her sliding off as ever. It was like throwing snowballs at a wall. “You made your choice.”
“Do you arrest everyone who gets up to a little mischief?”
“I try to uphold justice where I can. What you did was not mischief.”
“I was only trying to see if I could. I wasn’t actually going to steal your trinket. I’ve just been sitting on my laurels, you see - taking a necklace from a sleeping woman was a challenge. I’d have placed it neatly on your nightstand and left a reassured man.”
“Is your ego that fragile?”
“Yes.”
Idunn turned her head at his answer, frowning humorlessly. He hadn’t seen her smile once since their trip began - though he knew his ribbing wasn’t helping matters there.
“You know, I’ve been purposely tied up in more compromising situations than this.” Tandreth continued, knowing this line of conversation made her uncomfortable and relishing in it. “I admire your tenacity with how tight you’ve made these bindings -” He wiggled his hands for emphasis, his wrists itching from the rope tied around them. “- but I could teach you a more elegant -”
Idunn stopped in her tracks and raised her hand, and with a thrill he thought she was going to hit him. He quickly realized it was meant to quiet him, however, as a faint noise echoed in the distance. For once he decided to follow her instruction, curiosity keeping him silent. The noise happened again - thunder, he thought, though there were no clouds in the sky. Idunn’s already pale face went a little paler as the thunder went on longer than Tandreth had ever heard in his centuries of life - and then the thunder did something thunder never did.
It changed in pitch, as if alive. As if a roar.
His captor dropped the rope she led him by and unsheathed her hunting knife from her belt. If it were anyone else the gesture would have him running, but Idunn was a Nord, and killing a bound opponent would be a black mark against their ever important honor. Fool’s honor, in his experience.
To his surprise, her knife cut through his bonds. Tandreth smiled in relief and rubbed at his wrists, but his good humor was dampened by yet another roll of roar-thunder. Idunn took the reins of her horse in hand, and he thought they were going to ride to safety - but instead she thrust them into his hands and pointed to a rocky outcropping some distance off the road. It was ringed with great standing stones, offering more than enough cover for both him and the horse, and Tandreth connected the dots before Idunn gave her instruction.
“Hide. No matter what. If I die, wait until the beast is gone.” she spoke, just as he saw a black figure rise over the mountains in the horizon. Idunn saw it too, and sharply inhaled - a fool might think the figure a bird, but at such a distance it was far too large.
Tandreth had heard the rumors, but never had he thought he’d see with his own eyes.
A dragon.
“No, no no.” Tandreth said quickly. “You don’t fight something like that. We need to ride, find shelter- “
“It will find me.” Idunn replied just as sharply. “Hide. Trust me.”
Hiding was what he was best at, but trust was something he never gave. Still, the shadow in the sky was growing larger and he wasn’t so willing to throw his life away as she was. Tandreth sprinted to the stones, another louder roll of thunder cracking through the sky - the sound was closer yet still a mix of the natural and organic, elements interweaved. Idunn’s horse followed him without him needing to tug on the reins, likely as terrified as he was.
He glanced back to see Idunn still standing in the path. She’d drawn her warhammer and held it in both hands, staring defiantly upward at the approaching shadow in the sky like something out of the wall carvings in so many old tombs. Tandreth turned his focus back to the path in front of him, dreading what he’d see next.
He made it to the stones just as the wingbeats of the dragon became audible. The standing stones were purposely placed, he realized, for there was a weathered and ancient shrine within their borders. On an old stone altar he recognized the small statue of Akatosh, carved from pure obsidian. For a fleeting moment he smiled at the sick humor of it before the great beating of wings filled him with fear once again. He flattened himself against the stone of an arch, Idunn’s horse sheltering under it with him, and against his better judgement he peeked around its side.
The dragon was close enough that its shadow fell across the path Idunn stood on, so large it made Tandreth’s stomach flip. Its scales glinted in the sun as it circled overhead - it must have spotted Idunn, for it roared so loudly his ears rang. To his horror, it dipped downward midflight, approaching the ground at a speed far too fast for such a large creature.
Idunn stood fast even as the beast opened its mouth, and Tandreth bit his tongue to keep from crying out as a stream of flames shot out from the back of the dragon’s throat. Liquid fire spilled forth aimed directly at Idunn - but before they made contact she shouted in a tongue he’d never heard of or known. Her voice was like a clarion bell, powerful and clear - and to his awe the flames flowed around her as if around a shield.
It was then he realized Idunn was dragonborn, and a new kind of horror settled within him.
Tandreth had known another chosen by fate, and he knew what fate did to such a person. The familiarity made him want to jump in the saddle and run, but he knew he’d long since missed his chance.
Instead, all he could do was watch Idunn and the dragon do battle. The creature was huge - judging by the tension in Idunn’s stance, it was larger than even she had seen. It kept trying to blast her with flames, but she kept up with its attempts with startling reflexes. It was a shouting match, her clear voice answering each rasping roar. Eventually the beast seemed to tire of her antics, and settled on the ground to do battle with tooth and claw. It tried to bite at her, its great jaw snapping like cracks of nearby thunder - but it earned a warhammer to the jaw each time for its trouble. Idunn swung her weapon with precision, striking the same point on the beast’s jaw each time. Tandreth realized her focus was an attempt to crack the beast’s face plating, hard and shining like steel.
Idunn’s last hit managed to crack the faceplate open, scales and dragonflesh falling to the ground. It roared and took off before she could drive her hammer into the exposed flesh beneath, and Idunn roared back in frustration.
The next time the dragon opens its mouth a great wind echoed out with its cry, nearly knocking Tandreth from his post. Idunn stood firm - she shouted back with a blast of wind of her own, the power of her voice causing the dragon to waver in the sky.
Tandreth understood with terrible clarity the tales of Ulfric shouting Torygg to pieces. Such power he’d never seen in his life - not even at his sister’s hands, the knowledge of Ashlands magic at her disposal.
Idunn was tiring with each shout - he could see it in her posture, how her warhammer seemed to be growing heavy in her arms. He could hear it in her voice - it was growing hoarse and weak. For a few minutes he thought, ridiculously, that she might have a chance against such a creature. Now he realized he was likely to see her die.
He looked around desperately for escape routes, a familiar panic settling in. It wasn’t fear for his own life that had him wanting to run - he’d been fearing death the past few minutes and stayed rooted to the spot. No, there was something else that filled him with greater fear than anything else, a fear that was rooted in his bones.
He didn’t want to watch her die.
His search for escape was quickly routed, however, for the dragon landed again, clearly sensing Idunn’s flagging stamina. The next time it roared, Idunn screamed in pain with it - he watched the flames break through her shouted shield at the last instant, the heat so intense he could feel it from his hiding place and staggering Idunn. The dragon followed it with a swipe of its claws, peeling open her breastplate as if it were scrib chitin. Idunn staggered back before falling to the ground, her warhammer clanking against the worn cobblestone.
It was over. Tandreth knew that if he remained hidden he had a strong chance of survival - Idunn had told him as much, had instructed him as much. At first he’d followed her instructions gladly, thinking her a fool - but she hadn’t died instantly to the dragon. She wasn’t a fool. She was dragonborn - and perhaps if it wasn’t for him distracting her and wearing her down, she would have succeeded in her battle.
If he did as she said, he knew it would result in her death. If he didn’t, it’d result in his.
Helplessness was a feeling he’d spent over a hundred years running from, and now it had settled over him in force. Tandreth’s bow was tied to the saddle, but for all of his years of experience - for those golden days he was his tribe’s star hunter, an aspiring ashkhan - against the dragon’s steel hide even his arrows would be of little use.
There was nothing he could do, and yet he did not wish to believe it.
Help. His heart shouted as loud as Idunn did. Daedra, ancestors, someone, please -
Tandreth’s thoughts were cut off by a sudden flash of light, blinding him. The dragon roared again, and he thought it was over well and truly. But there was no snap of bone, no heat of flame, no rending of steel. When he regained his sight there was a ghostly armored figure walking away from him toward the dragon, shining silver as the moon and holding a spear blazing bright and fierce as the stars.
A spear he knew. A lump formed in his throat. He had summoned ancestor spirits out of fear before, but never one he recognized. The ghost could be one of two of his blood - and he hoped desperately it was the elder.
The dragon stood over Idunn’s prone form, its attention diverted toward the ghostly figure - and Tandreth. Its wings raised, beating as it began to take off and sending great gusts of wind with each sweep. Before it could lift into the sky, however, the ghostly figure threw its spear. It pierced the dragon’s wing, and on making contact ignited the entire limb with flame. The dragon screamed rather than roared, and fell back to the ground.
The ghost approached the fallen dragon and pulled its spear from the wing while the dragon howled on the ground, the magical flames fading and leaving a melted mess of scales and flesh in their wake. The dragon tried to snap at its new opponent, but its teeth only moved through the ghost’s ethereal form.
In spite of himself Tandreth squinted against the ghost’s shining light, trying to make out its features. It looked like an Ordinator, those guards he’d seen only in childhood and illustrations - but the armor was too old, too well-worn. Tandreth knew who the Ordinators were meant to emulate. He knew the figure before him was too slight, too small to be the patriarch of House Indoril himself. He realized with ice in his veins who the ancestral spirit was.
The Nerevarine.
Mother.
It had been sixty years since she’d last been seen, and now her ghost stood before him with her spear in hand. The woman who had killed a god. Dead.
She watched the dragon thrash and raised her spear up once more. With careful aim, she threw it at the beast’s head. The blazing spear pierced where Idunn had broken the beast’s faceplate, moving through exposed flesh and impaling it through the skull. All at once, the dragon’s roars were silenced. It collapsed to the ground in a limp heap.
His mother’s ghost pulled her spear from the creature’s skull and turned to look at him. Tandreth could not see her face under her helmet, but he didn’t need to. She lifted her free hand and placed it over her heart, a farewell he’d seen so many times. A gesture she’d made at the docks, over and over, leaving him and his sister behind while she tried to save their people. Tandreth wanted to cry out, to scream at her for leaving again, for leaving forever - but only a moment later her ghost faded.
In the sudden silence he could hear Idunn whimpering in pain, sounding the opposite of the powerful figure he’d seen shouting down a dragon. Setting his roiling emotions aside, Tandreth scrambled over to her frantic horse, doing his best to calm it so he could grab a healing potion from the saddlebags. With the potion in hand, he turned to run over to Idunn - but the sight that greeted him was extraordinary enough to stop him in his tracks.
The dragon’s scales and flesh were turning to glowing mist, flowing down toward Idunn. He watched transfixed as the mist wrapped itself around her like a cloak, flowing into her eyes, her nostrils, her mouth. Idunn tipped her head back, gasping and shuddering as the essence flowed into her until only bones remained of the great beast. With the mist gone, Idunn collapsed fully to the ground.
It jolted Tandreth back to action, and he raced toward her. Blood was pouring out from the tear in her breastplate, and he feared she had a punctured lung from how she was wheezing. Tears of pain were streaming down her face, but she was trying her best not to whimper.
“Here.” he said, kneeling beside her. He uncorked the potion and placed his hand on the back of her head to support it - momentarily marvelling at how such a warrior had such soft hair, the auburn strands a contrast against his dark blue skin. He tipped the potion bottle to her lips with his other hand - shaking from adrenaline. All sensation was heightened, the sight he’d just witnessed sending his mind reeling. Idunn drank the healing mixture greedily, and gained a small amount of awareness. It wasn’t enough - not nearly enough - but it’d keep her from death’s door for a little while longer.
“You should have run.” she said weakly - using what little strength she had to speak. It echoed his own thoughts only minutes ago - but she was not scolding him. There was pride in her eyes beyond the pain. He hated it.
“I’ve seen too much death.” he responded quietly, so quietly he hoped she wouldn’t hear. He raised his voice. “You need a good healer. The nearest ones I know are at the temple in Windhelm.” The temple of Talos, another hero-god, another alleged dragonborn - and Tandreth fought against what felt like fate’s hand.
Idunn was pale before the blood loss, but seemed even paler in that moment. Windhelm was still days away, and he knew she feared how long the journey would take. Yet her expression turned to that same stubborn one he’d seen when he first met her, when the innkeeper questioned why she was taking a petty thief all the way to Windhelm. She nodded. Idunn tried weakly to unfasten the bindings on her torn breastplate so she could move, but Tandreth nudged her hands away and started to do it himself.
“I’m not going to steal your armor.” he reassured her, at the sight of her wide eyes. What would Raansi do, he thought, trying to remember his sister’s methods as a healer. All he could do was offer Idunn a smile, an attempt at normalcy.
It worked, and she blinked back her tears of pain while he worked the breastplate off of her. There was a great gouge taken out of her lower chest, and it was bleeding heavily - but her armor had protected her from the worst of the dragon’s wrath. If he could get her to Windhelm before infection and fever claimed her, she’d survive. Tandreth hastily untied his silk sash from his waist, binding her ribs with the colorful patterned fabric. It cost as much as her warhammer, he was certain - and he was staining it with her blood.
“You’re… a strange thief.” Idunn murmured, face ashen as she watched him work. Her green eyes were growing unfocused. Time - Akatosh’s domain - was not on their side.
He decided he hated dragons.
Tandreth looped his arm under her shoulders and helped her to her feet, struck by the weight of her as she leaned against him. Even with her injured, her warmth and solid form against him was oddly comforting - it had been too long since he’d allowed another to touch him, since he’d touched another, and he missed the feeling of safety. He needed to make haste, or her warmth would fade. “I’m a lot of things, dragonborn.” he grinned at her, joking to take the edge off his nerves. “I’ll take strange over the other things you’ve called me.”
Idunn managed a weak laugh as he helped her to her still-nervous horse - and it’s a wonderful sound to his ears, her smile softening her hard features into something quite pleasant. It took all of her energy and a boost from him to help her into the saddle, where she wavered dangerously in place. He gathered up her dropped warhammer and breastplate and quickly affixed them to the saddlebags. By the time he did so, Idunn was slumping forward in the saddle. He hastily put his foot in the stirrup and took his place behind her, taking the reins in hand. His arms were at either side of her body, keeping her steady even as consciousness faded from her.
“Stay with me, dragonborn.” Tandreth remembered one thing from his sister’s lessons - that as long as Idunn was conscious she had a better chance to fight the punishment her body had taken. “If you die I’m taking your things.”
There was a murmur of protest from her. He tapped his heels against the horse’s flank, and the mare quickly began to move, eager to leave the dragon behind.
Tandreth glanced back at the bones, and the cracked skull his mother’s spear had penetrated. He swallowed - he wanted to leave Idunn in Windhelm with the priests and flee back for the comfort of the Rift, but the ghost he’d seen had reignited his flagging sense of duty.
His mother was dead, and his mind was fleeing from the grief approaching him like a black fog. But he couldn’t run - not when he wasn’t the only one who suffered. Not when he wasn’t the only one who needed to know what he had seen.
Tandreth’s journey would not cease at Windhelm. He couldn’t turn back after seeking help for the dragonborn however much he wished to.
For the second time, he was to head to Winterhold with grim news.
For the second time, he’d watch his sister’s heart break.
The Nerevarine was dead, and her twin children were the only souls left alive left to grieve her.

Character
Personality: Many a times, Ravina is seen by her opponents as cunning, dangerously precise when it comes to taking down anything they send after her, and an overall mystery that they become frustrated with trying to solve. For the most part, those traits hold a good amount of truth to it, and it does not help the fact that because of her reputation and strategy, she is unofficially called "The strongest swords woman in the world"(though it is a title up for debate, mostly Ravina trying to convince others that she isn't, due to the fact that earning that title was not her goal at all). Those that respect her and only know of her, she is a figure of honor, always the calm one in a seemingly dire situation, and is never the one to provoke a fight. But when you pull back the veil, you are met with an intelligent, but caring woman, who above all else, values the meaning of moral compassion over gaining self desires. To those she shows her true colors to (Loved ones, Crew mates, or family related friends), she is shown to be fair, always willing to reason rather than result anything in violence, and stays loyal to those she cares truly for. When interacting with others, she can be both ladylike yet to the point, keeping an open mind but at the same time if she sees something wrong, she will either reveal it later one for further comprehension or point it out if the situation calls for it. Due to her age, it comes with a natural urge of responsibility and respect of other peoples opinions and views, and with those extra years, has learned to tolerate many things and thus stay collected when things are troubling her. Yet another well known trait about her is that she is always observant (24-7), since it was the first lessons she had learned from her late mother before she passed away, she always practices it as a testament. On the other hand, when she is not within her comfortable element, she can be persuasive, confident and enigmatic when she wants to be, knowing that foreign conflicts have a better chance of getting resolved, even when you are not acting like the adult at the time. And so when it comes to any down sides, it takes a great amount of effort and deliberate frustration to piss her off, but when she is angry, she tends to have a condescending attitude towards the problem, and at times will belittle her enemies so to incapacitate them without violence(Kind of like a warning shot to stay away) If you get her past the point of no return, she will not immediately resolve to death, instead beating down those who are responsible to the point where they will not be able to continue for a very long time.
Dream: For most of her younger life, she had to stay on her hometown island, in fear that people would find out about her existence and would want to hurt her due to her heritage (Namely the Navy and World government). Many had told her that she was the result of the betrayal that shook the government, and was a danger to those around her. As she got older, her desire to get off the island and follow in her mother's footsteps had urged her to become a pirate, in a way to prove them wrong and defy the government as much as possible. That at first was her goal, boat as the years passed, she realized how big the world was, and so her dream had began to change. Her dream became to see the world she was denied to see as a child, and thus become free.
Reputation: For the most part, she hides her face behind a tribal mask, so to not reveal her identity to the world government. The reasoning was because she is the daughter of not only an infamous pirate by the name of Leiavana Serene "Serenade of Demons", who came from the island of Ohara long before it's destruction, she was the result of Serene's relationship with Warlord Faust Aron "Spirit Reaver Aron", who betrayed the government before Ravina was born. She knows that any member of the Faust family is recognized by their striking silver eyes. So to not risk anyone important to her even more so, she mostly wears the mask. When she began piracy 14 yrs before the Before Marinewar time line, her victory over a ruthless group of marines called the Eastern blood crows, by single handedly annihilating the entire ship had marked her first action against the navy, and it was then she was officially labeled as a pirate. Her rep skyrocketed after every defeat of marine aggressors and other notorious pirates, including the rumored connections with the Revolutionary army. When news spread of her alliance with Whitebeard, who was known to be previously allied with her mother in the past, she became an even bigger target. During the marineford war, her identity as a Faust was finally revealed.
Background: Born on the Meridias Isles with her parents (both retired temporarily from piracy so to raise her), she grew up with her identity hidden. Despite this, she had a fairly normal childhood, training with her father with the art of the sword, and would often play hooky with another kid whom she called Hawk, who would only visit the island for a short time for every visit. For most of her younger life, she had to stay on her hometown island, in fear that people would find out about her existence and would want to hurt her due to her heritage (Namely the Navy and World government). Many had told her that she was the result of the betrayal that shook the government, and was a danger to those around her. As she got older, her desire to get off the island and follow in her mother's footsteps had urged her to become a pirate, in which it was a dream shared by her friend Hawk, who later proposed to her and vowed to join her in her future travels. Before she could though, once she turned 20, a ruthless group of marines called the Eastern blood crows invaded the island, with every intention to find and arrest her father. In an attempt to hide him, she revealed herself instead, and volunteered to take his place. But during the trip towards Enies Lobby, a freak storm had hit them, and through the fray, she destroyed the ship and killed them. Cast away on a nearby island, she was brought back to health by a small tribe of warriors called the Halshierans, and for around four years, lived with them and gained a place among them. After that, she departed the island, and after a long journey, returned to her home, only to find that Hawk had already left, and her father under the assumption that she had been dead. Easing his fears, she declared her arrival as the official departure as a pirate, and taking her father's old pirate ship 10 yrs before the current timeline, established the Crusader pirates.

(Other weapons of preference)- If no sword, than a wooden staff, either that or her basic skills on hand to hand combat.
Relationships
Halsherians- A tribe of islanders that came to her aid when the marine ship she was captive on got destroyed in a freak storm. She stayed with the tribe for 4 years, eventually earning their respect and molded into the tribe, until she had to return home. They provided a ship, supplies, and wished her farewell by giving her a warriors traditional mask. It is the same mask she wears when she becomes s pirate.
The Sun pirates- During her journey back home 14 years before Marineford, she came upon the Sun pirates who were docked in the same town she was in at that time. Due to a scuffle between her and Arlong, which ended up in her boat getting ripped to pieces, she made a deal with the captain to allow her to travel on their boat until she got to where she could get another boat. In that time, she befriended and gained the trust of many of its members, especially that of the young girl named Koala. She spent a few months on their ship before they reached an island with a port of boats, and that is where they parted ways.
The Crusader pirates- The pirate crew she later forms after she leaves her home. Taking the boat her father used called the Passover, she traveled around the Grandline, recruiting members that wished to follow the piratical life and wished for a free life on the open sea. Because of the many hardships they pulled through, and the adventures they shared together, they respect her. The bond they have is similar to that of brothers and sisters, which is constantly tested by the many secrets she tends to hold to herself, but later reveals.
Dracule Mihawk- Ravina and Mihawk were childhood friends in their early years, and in their twenties, they had plans to marry and create their own pirate crew. But before that could happen, a radical group of Marines called the Southern blood crows landed on the island, with the intent to take her father to Enies lobby for his past crimes. She took his place instead, and did not see him for 12 yrs, and in that time she became a pirate captain and he a warlord. After those 12 yrs, they meet again and rekindle what they had before. Out of that, Damien and Serene (Named after her mother) came around.

Chapter one
----------------------
It’s the day of the election. Wilbur is nervous, standing on the stage as they await the ballots being counted. He’s wearing his L’Manburg uniform proudly, standing tall. His youngest brother, Tommy, is standing by his side with a matching uniform. Tommy’s wings are folded around his shoulders, and he’s twiddling his fingers nervously, trying to stand up straight. He may only be sixteen years of age, but Tommy has done more for L’Manburg than anyone realizes. Wilbur knows Tommy wants to make everyone proud; it’s written all over the boy’s face. Tommy wants the position of Vice President more than even Wilbur realizes.
Wilbur’s own wings are outstretched as he stands proudly, trying to represent his country as best as he can. He’s staring out at the crowd, trying to ignore the podium on the other side of the stage. His closest friend and opponent, Schlatt, is standing at that podium. Schlatt doesn’t have a running mate, but he had cited not needing one, since he had been confident in his abilities to run L’Manburg on his own. With the aura he radiates, no one had cast him any doubts.
Wilbur especially believes in him. Schlatt had always been loud and commanding. With his sense of humor, sharp sense of fashion, and tall demeanor, people had been willing to bend at the knee for the goat hybrid. Hell, there were a few times that Wilbur himself wouldn’t have minded stepping down to give Schlatt the leadership he probably deserved.
This election had been the solution to that. Wilbur’s confident in his own leadership skills. People respect him and his innate ability to rule fairly, and that respect had risen since he announced an election. Schlatt had been the only one to step up to run against him. They’d kept it friendly, not delving too deep into the toxicity that normally came with politics. They’d agreed that they’d compete against each other with the friendliest of banters, and it had worked wonders. Thus far, the voters seem to be split down the middle.
Now they all stand at their respective podiums, awaiting the results. George is the one counting the ballots, with Niki to help him with anything he might’ve missed. Wilbur can’t tell how close the election is, but he hopes he and Tommy are winning. This is, after all, their country.
After what feels like hours, George moves to the front to stand in front of the microphone. Niki hangs around backstage to lean up, and Wilbur sneaks a glance over his shoulder to smile at her. She doesn’t see him, too caught up in her own job. She disappears behind a door, and Wilbur faces front again to tune in to George’s words.
Next to him, Tommy finally spreads his wings, clearly trying to look as proud as Wilbur. In his peripheral vision, he can see Tommy glancing up at him, so Wilbur places a hand on his brother’s shoulder, silently reassuring him. The gentle touch and unspoken command are heard; Tommy’s exhaling slowly, and straightening his spine, facing out toward the crowd, much like Wilbur is doing now.
“Nihachu and I counted,” George states, waving a small envelope in his hands. “We have tallied all the ballots and counted them a few times to double-check, but we have a very clear winner. The people knew exactly who they wanted.”
George pauses in his speech to grin first at the current president and vice president, then turning to grin at their opponent. Schlatt clears his throat and adjusts his tie before placing his hands on the podium. Wilbur can see Schlatt’s fingers are trembling. Wilbur wishes he could call out a reassurance, but George is speaking again.
“The new president of L’Manburg,” George begins, pulling a notecard out of the envelope, “Is Jonathan Schlatt!”
There’s a cheer that raises up from the crowd, with a few people even jumping from their seats, as if that would help them cheer louder. Wilbur doesn’t let himself wilt, though he’s sure his expression reveals his disappointment. Next to him, Tommy’s wings lower in visible disappointment, nearly dragging on the ground. The boy’s head is bowed, and even amid the cheering, Wilbur can hear ragged breathing.
Keeping his hand on Tommy’s shoulder, he takes a step back. This drags Tommy back as well. Tommy doesn’t resist the tug, letting himself be tugged off the stage completely. It’s Schlatt’s turn to speak.
“I don’t understand,” Tommy whispers. He looks up at Wilbur with watery eyes, so Wilbur pulls him into a hug, even wrapping his wings around his brother. “We should have won, this was… we built this country! We did this with our bare hands, we should have… fuck!”
“He won a fair election,” Wilbur reminds him. “This is still our country, really. We just have to trust Schlatt to run it with the same ideals we created. Trust him, Tommathy.”
Tommy grins faintly, reaching up to flick a tear away. “I hate it when you call me that. But yeah, you’re right. I trust him.”
“Good lad.” Wilbur ruffles his hair before pulling back, taking Tommy by the hand to lead him back to the crowd. Schlatt hasn’t begun his speech yet, he seems to have been waiting for this moment. Wilbur meets the new president’s gaze and nods once they find their place next to Phil and Techno. Phil wraps Tommy in his own wings to comfort the teenager, while Wilbur finds solace in leaning against Techno. Techno has enough sense to pat Wilbur on the back, before nodding back up toward the stage. Schlatt is taking his place before the microphone, wearing a nervous smile.
In spite of his disappointment, Wilbur is proud of his closest friend. He reaches around Phil to ruffle Tommy’s hair, trying to get the boy’s attention.
“L’Manburg,” Schlatt says. “Man, I don’t even know how to start, except to say thank you. I’m so glad all of you participated in this election, casting your votes wisely. I also want to say that even though he lost, this country is still every bit of Wilbur’s as it is mine. He helped found the country we all live and believe in, and I’m still beyond honored to call him a friend. Because that’s what he is, a friend. Not just for me, but for all of us!”
Schlatt pauses to clear his throat, gaze sweeping over the crowd. Wilbur feels his eyes tear up, but he holds them back. He’s not going to weep in front of thousands of people. He re-focuses his attention on Schlatt, who’s speaking again.
“I’m going to run this nation fairly, living up to the ideals Wilbur set up for us. We’re a nation, we stand proud and we’re going to continue fighting for what we believe in. L’Manburg was founded on revolution and a desire for peace, and we’re going to continue pushing for independence, for unity, and become even better than we started off as!”
There’s a cheer that rises up in the air. Wilbur hears himself cheering alongside them, and he doesn’t realize he’s moving forward until he’s up on stage, leaning against Schlatt with a laugh. His wings wrap around his friend, gold shimmering in the sunlight. This isn’t supposed to happen, but sometimes, Wilbur really can’t help himself.
“Not meaning to interrupt,” Wilbur says with a laugh. He pats Schlatt on the back. “But I’m going to hand the keys to the nation over to someone I trust as much as my own family. I may have founded this country with my brother, but Schlatt’s the one in charge.” There are no physical keys to hand over; the pair behind the microphone understand the symbolism behind this entire event. “Schlatt, I know you will uphold and perfect our ideals and beliefs, and push this country forward into an even better tomorrow.”
There’s more cheering, and it rises in volume when the pair hug it out. This is unorthodox, normally a former president and president-elect would not be hugging, but Wilbur loves and trusts Schlatt, and he’s glad that things are turning out this way after all. He hopes Tommy understands as well.
The event is over. People are dismissing themselves, wandering back to whatever they do with their lives. The streets are filled with chatter and an excited buzz, but Wilbur is more focused on his approaching family. Phil is wearing a proud smile on his face, and Tommy’s eyes are red.
Schlatt reaches over to ruffle Tommy’s hair. “Chin up kid, it’s not over for you.”
Tommy juts his chin out in defiance, trying to look tough. “Shut the fuck up, big man. You’re not so tough, I could still take you on.” Tommy uses his sleeve and uses the cloth to dry his eyes. “In all seriousness Schlatt, I’m proud of you. You’re gonna do us proud, aren’t you?”
Schlatt nods. “I want to. I’m more scared of letting you two down than I am being a leader.” He offers a small smile, gaze flicking toward Wilbur’s wings, then Tommy’s. “Man, I just don’t want to let either of you down.”
“You could never,” Wilbur reassures him. “Schlatt, you’ve got charisma. You’ve got finesse. You’ve got-”
“Wilbur, Wilbur, please. Shut, and I mean this nicely, but shut the fuck up,” Tommy cuts in. “No one wants to hear you two flirt.” He’s leaning against Techno again, with Techno’s wings wrapping around the teen. In between words, it’s easy to tell that Tommy is still disappointed, and is hiding it behind his usual facade.
“Are you sure?” Schlatt asks, rolling his eyes at Tommy. Not out of irritation, but more to keep the conversation rolling. “I’m a little worried if I can be honest with you. Your entire family has wings, Wil. I have goat horns. What if that means people don’t take me seriously? Wouldn’t it be better if I had wings too?”
“Oh.” Wilbur laughs a little too loudly. He’s always hated having this conversation with Schlatt, it comes up more often than he wants to entertain. Schlatt has always been jealous of not being able to fly as Wilbur can. “You don’t need wings to rule, bro. You’re good, people adore you.” He motions around them with his fist. “We should go back home, for dinner. I’m sure Phil would love to prepare a celebratory meal for our president.”
Phil snorts but complies with the unspoken request to head back home. He moves forward, nudging both Techno and Tommy, though he keeps his head turned, watching Wilbur and Schlatt. “Schlatt, I’d be honored if you could join us tonight,” Phil says. “It’d be just like old times.”
“Nah.” Schlatt’s smiling, remaining in place. “I have other things to tend to. I’ll join you another night though, alright? And hey, Tommy?” He reaches out, pressing a palm to Tommy’s shoulder. Tommy stops walking, turning back to look at him. “I heard you cheering the loudest, kid. I know this election meant a lot to you, I know this country means a lot to you, so I’m going to do right by you.”
A pink tinge covers the teen’s cheeks, eyes lighting up in glee. He’s no longer crying, but there is still an air of disappointment surrounding him. Wilbur tries to let his shoulders relax; Tommy had always looked up to the ram hybrid. Schlatt had always gotten along well with Tommy, even delving into the same kind of teasing the other three dished out. There was never a moment where Tommy would feel unsafe, and he hopes, in spite of the event and differing emotions, that Tommy knows that now.
“There’s no way I cheered for you at all,” Tommy snarks. “You were too busy preening your suit during your whole speech. You were so preoccupied with Wilbur you didn’t hear me booing you.”
“He’s lying,” Techno comments. “Tommy was crying crocodile tears the whole time.” He’s standing a little ways from the group, looking a little uncomfortable. Wilbur’s certain he’s growing uneasy with this much activity and social interaction. Wilbur smiles at him, even laughing a little at his comment as he tugs Techno closer to them.
“Shut up Techno.” Tommy shoots his older brother a glare. “Jokes aside, don’t worry about me, I can handle anything life throws at me. You won the election fair and square, now we’ll just have to see how long it takes before you run it to the ground.”
“Me, destroying a whole country?” Schlatt places a hand to his chest in mock dismay. “I would never!”
Tommy lets out a snort as he steps away from the group, wings finally picking up off the ground. He seems to be cheering up now, which Wilbur is glad for. “I had a dream about you, Schlatt. I dreamt that you took over the country and immediately turned it into a dictatorship and made everyone betray you. Also-” Tommy rushes to continue before anyone can interrupt him, because Phil is trying to shush him. “Also, you banished me and Wilbur from the country, and we formed a rebellion. It was a cool dream, wish it came true.”
“Please.” Schlatt’s grin is now a little too forced. “You know me Tommy, I wouldn’t do anything like that. Wilbur and I are good friends, and you’re as good as my little brother!”
“Never say that again,” Tommy says, trying to appear serious and intimidating. “I don’t need no older brothers, I’m already my own big brother.”
“Alrighty,” Techno jokes. “Guess we can just leave Tommy behind. Everyone else, let’s go home. We don’t have a brother anymore, yup.”
“Of course, of course,” Wilbur continues. He turns to walk along with Techno, with Phil cracking up behind them. “I guess we’ll see you later, Schlatt. The three of us have to get home before it’s too late.”
“Wait.” The realization of being abandoned clearly sets in, because Tommy’s wings are wilting again. “Guys, wait, don’t leave me behind!”
“Why are we walking, when we can just fly?” Techno asks, with an abrupt subject change. Wilbur’s glad for it, because Tommy’s already upset enough, he doesn’t want to give Tommy another reason to cry. Techno waves goodbye to Schlatt before spreading his pink and white wings out, giving them a single shake. “I’m not walking anywhere.”
The rest of the family follows suit. There’s an array of colorful feathers floating in the air; a mix of black, pink, gold, blue, white, all shimmering with every other color of the rainbow. Schlatt stands and watches as the four members of this particular family disappear into the air and out of sight.
He can’t say he’s not disappointed. He’s always envied their ability to fly, and the beautiful wings they possess. He turns to head back toward his new life though, because up ahead, Niki is waiting for him. She’s wearing a bright smile and is holding a stack of paperwork in her arms.
She doesn’t have wings either, so Schlatt wonders if that’s okay. He doesn’t need wings to be a decent person, he’s sure. He approaches her, patting her on the shoulder. Niki is offering her own quieter congratulations, and they head for the office.
What Schlatt doesn’t notice is off in the distance, another winged being is watching. A faceless, endless green void, with matching green and black and white wings, facing the new president. When the crowd finally disperses, the figure too disappears, evidently having seen enough to satisfy him.

Moar Naruto Harry AU please.
I wanna know what he has planned to keep his favorite wizards with him.
Also will he ever learn Remus's name is Remus and not Emus?
“Excuse me?” The man sitting on the high chair surrounded by men and women wearing long-dapped clothing looked utterly unsure about Naruto’s request.
He had been in the middle of some boring speech when the young boy had burst through the two large doors, dodging the attempt to be stopped by the workers in the hallway.
It was easy enough for a ninja of his level to jump over the desk of the receptionist and zig-zag away from the color lights the wizards shoot at him.
He wasn’t entirely sure what the light did but any kind of justu that was strong enough for the chakra to be seen meant bad news, so Naruto made haste to find the one important person while sprinting down the hall and kicking open any door he came across.
It took a full hallway of screaming chaos but he finally found them. The important-looking people.
Naruto had skipped his way to the front of what looked like a council, and repeated his demand  “I challenge whoever is in charge to an Honor Clash or whatever you people have.”
The man wearing the tall pointy hat with small glasses blinked slowly. “No, I heard you the first time, my boy,  but I am not entirely sure what you mean by Honor Clash ?”
Naruto squinted at him trying to see if the man was joking or not. There were times where he still tripped over the difference between this world and the one he knew, where something so common knowledge to him was strange or unheard of to others.
“Honor Clash. A battle between two people betting something of equal value and should the two parties agree unbreakable once a winner is decided.”
“...Do you mean dueling and an Unbreakable Vow?” A woman in a purple robe hesitantly asks from Naruto’s left.
“Yes, the highest of challenges and the one way anything can be lost. Including one’s freedom or life.”  Naruto nodded staring into the aged man’s eyes who was blinking down at him. They held a strange twinkle, but the ninja did not focus on it, guiding his eyes to the center of the other’s nose.
Even he could spot a genjustu so obvious  “I wish to bet my life. If I am to lose, I will be the winner’s property, to do with as they may please, but in exchange, I like the life of Sirius Black if I win. This means no house arrest, no limitations, no restrictions as he will my property. Would you accept my challenge, old man?”
The room held their breath as the words leave Naruto’s mouth, shifting around him in a way his chakra has never done before. However he knows in a deep part of his soul, it is bounding. Final.
An Unbreakable Vow, the woman had said. What a fitting name for this feeling.
“Very well, if you think this is the only way, I do accept.” The aged wizard said after a long pause. Naruto twitches as the muffled feeling of negative emotions hidden behind the downturn of the old man's lips.
He may have lost Kurama, but his Uzumaki chakra could keep him an empath though not nearly as strong as before.
He felt greed and gluttony. The wizard wants to own him. Naruto barely held back a sneer fitting of a real fox.
“Dumbledore! You can’t be serious-he’s only a child! He doesn’t even have a wand!” The woman from before shouts outrage, springing to her feet. A few members on the side of the curved table she sat at are quick to agree.
They shout over each other, following the line of the disapproval and horror of a child dueling someone much more experience.
“This is barbaric, and traitorous at most!” Another man with long blond hair on the other side of the room barks. “If this duel happens it will go against all of our traditions and legal process. What will the public do when they learn they can fight their way out of the law?! You are asking for a silver war!”
“You would  know a lot about a silver war wouldn’t you Malfoy?” A red-headed man sneers. “After all, it would be your power that would threaten the most by this duel.”
“How dare you-!”
“I do ask, my boy. That should the duel become a draw, neither life is own.” Dumbledore speaks over the crowd of people with a type of command that comes from a man who is used to being heard and be listen to. At once the room quiets, some of the left side looking relieved.
Naruto tilts his head. “That sounds fair, but adding that rule now after you agree makes me challenged instead of the challenger. I would get to pick the winning condition. Do you still want to?”
Dumbledore's eyes crinkled with a grandfatherly smile. Naruto felt the greed rise, muffled and distant but ever-present. “Of course my boy. What would the winning condition be?”
“The first one knocked unconscious by any means is the loser.” The words felt as natural as any other words in his mouth would but for some reason, it made every adult look suddenly very nervous. All but the wizard he has challenged.
“We have an accord. Let the Vow be forever bonding, witnessed by the Wizengamont.”  Dumbledore’s voice rang through the room like a bell, echoing in the stillness of the room.
He wobbled down the spiraling stairway on the side of the podium he was standing behind, coming to a stop before Naruto, his strangely shaped stick raised to split his face in half. “We may duel here and now.”
Naruto bowed at him, in terms of the proper way of Leaf village spars, shifting his weight to get a solid form. He ignores the shouts of the spectators. many claiming the older male has gone mad while a few shout that Dumbledore obviously was going to force the ninja into a draw.
“Start the match” Naruto demanded of the purple lady who looked unpleased but he directed his gaze back to his opponent before he could watch her expression for too long.
“Begin.”
Naruto leaped away from his position missing the red light by mere seconds as the old man whipped out his stick in his direction.
The ninja quickly flashed through seals raising the marble tiles beneath him into a shield as more color lights slammed into it, barely any paused between them. The crowd screamed at the debris which went flying due to one of the lights exploding upon contact but Naruto didn’t turn to look at them.
He instead used the smoke to cover his next attack, summoning clones to rush at the old man each bearing a Kuni shaped from the marble tiles of his last justu.
They hit an invisible shield that reminded him of the main Pain puppet, which meant Naruto had to use different means of attack. He rushed underground, leaving behind a clone to act as a decoy, who engaged the old man with shooting wind Justus against the strange light.
He tunneled his way to where he could feel the chakra of the old man blaze as powerful as any jonin or even an Anbu Captain.
In terms of power, he was outmatched but Naruto would not let that deter him. After all, based on the way Dumbledore fought, he had not seen that many ninja battles and this meant Naruto was not outclassed.
Naruto waited until his clone fell, faking being unconscious as he had done in the battle against Neji, and it wasn’t until another clone pop, letting him know the old man had lowered his wand that he shoots up a Rasengan in one had to tear away the shield and a bag of powder in another.
Naruto had not been able to find a weapons store in this world but he had been able to make some weapons with the little knowledge of various tools he had. One of them was a special blend of herbs and flowers which forced victims to fall for genjustus faster by lowering their control over their senses when inhaled.
This allows the reincarnated boy to overpower Dumbledore’s mind, as he grips onto his face, his chakra running down his arm, through his fingertips, and into the shocked wizard's mind. Soon he falls into a slumber and Naruto lets go only to catch him, as Dumbledore crumbles his stick slipping from his hand to roll on the ground.
The doors slam open as ‘Emus and Dog-man rush in with a horrified “Harry!”
Naruto gives them a toothy grin, twisting his small body to them and shaking Dumbledore's unconscious form. “Great timing! I just won the  Honor Clash and now, we can go home together!”
Everyone starts shouting then which really delays Naruto taking his family home and he is very upset it takes so long before the magic people realize he is willing to challenge them to an Honor Clash just to keep ‘Emus too.
Dog-man couldn’t look any happier so it was all worth it in the end.
