purity and cancel culture make people think artists who write, draw, sing or make things about subjects that are (rightfully) considered disturbing and socially unacceptable — as well as fans who like fictional things that are (rightfully) considered disturbing and socially unacceptable — are “red flags”, “predators”, “deserving of having their hard drives checked”, etc, when in reality people can like or make fictional things about subjects that are (rightfully) considered disturbing and socially unacceptable without condoning these things in real life.
artists who create (fictional) contents about triggering subjects aren’t automatically “predators who condone these terrible things in real life”. artists who create (fictional) contents about triggering subjects are just artists who create (fictional) contents about triggering subjects.
people who like (fictional) contents about triggering subjects aren’t automatically “predators who condone these terrible things in real life”. people who like (fictional) contents about triggering subjects are just normal people who like (fictional) contents about triggering subjects. for reasons that aren’t nobody’s business but their own.
(as long as they don’t act out these things in real life and hurt real people, they’re normal people like you and me, and 99.99% of people who like fucked up fictional things are normal people who don’t hurt anyone in real life.
if someone watched a fucked up movie and acted out the antagonist’s crimes in real life, then it still meant that this individual was already fucked up and a predator, and they would have done terrible things whether or not they watched a fucked up film; the art itself don’t make people do terrible things.)
art has never been restricted to only rainbow and sunshine and unicorns.
art is also about the depiction of macabre, things that are disgusting, unpleasant, violent and unacceptable. (as long as nobody in real life actually gets hurt.)
you can’t claim to “accept art and artists” and then say “but if you write fics about (X) or if you like this movie then you’re a red flag and are disgusting 🤢”
it’s absolutely okay if you personally hate these types of fictional works that revolve around triggering subjects that are (rightfully) disgusting and socially unacceptable, it’s okay because it just means these types of works are not for you (no one forces you to watch, read or listen to them), but it’s not okay if you start harassing artists who create or people who enjoy art you personally hate, just because you hate them and therefore you believe other people must hate them too or else they’re terrible people.
you are a terrible person if you harass anybody in real life over fictional things that aren’t real.
you are the one who aren’t able to separate fiction from reality.

Antis aren’t known for “protecting fictional children”.
They’re actually known for “harassing real people over fictional things” , “putting the lives and well beings of fictional children over real people” and “not being able to separate fiction from reality”.
It’s the equivalent of people protesting in front of a movie theatre in the 80s because “horror movies are satanic and dangerous”.
(And for the record, I am disgusted by those ships, but you’ll never see me harass real people who like those ships that I personally hate, because their ships aren’t my ships and I choose to mute/block them and mind my own business instead of harassing and accusing them of being predators based on their taste in fiction alone.)
Like… sorry if this upsets you, but just because you can’t separate fiction from reality doesn’t mean I can’t separate fiction from reality.

Don't Ask Me for QL Recommendations Because My Taste is BAD
Bad as in TRASHY.
For your own good, don't ask me for recommendations.
I'm writing this because I've gotten some asks lately for QL recommendations and I wanted to spare you the pain.
If you still don't trust me (because to be fair, why would you? I'm just a random weirdo on the internet), let me tell you how bad my taste is so you'll know why I'm doing you a great favor by sparing you the pain.
(I also watch, and rewatch, series/films for ridiculous reasons, yet another reason not to listen to me. I’ll come back to this in a minute.)
Let's start with a brief rewind to a couple of decades ago (because it matters in this context).
The first queer content of any kind I can remember watching was Xena: The Warrior Princess in the late 90s and early 00s (I was a child/pre-teen at the time). It was such a pivotal point for me, which is why I remember it vividly. Not only was Lucy Lawless (the actress playing Xena) the most beautiful human being I had ever seen at that point, Xena was also queer and I loved her.
The series, though? It’s bad.
It’s over-the-top, contains ridiculous humor, face-palm-worthy fight scenes, etc., etc. (But, it was also the 90s, so it was quality television at the time, no matter what anyone else says.) It was so bad that it was ridiculously entertaining. I would watch it today (if I could find it anywhere…). That’s how bad my taste is (or how attached I am to bad shit).
That’s when the groundwork for my bad taste was laid. I blame THANK Xena: The Warrior Princess for it.
Then there was a huge skip until July last year when I found the Asian QL world, because I had no idea it even existed (I’m from Europe, btw).
(My personal story is that I fell into the queer/gay film world before the QL world, and the queer films I could find were made and released very sporadically. But ever since I found the treasure trove of Asian QL series in July 2023, I’ve watched 291 series/films as of right now.)
The reason I fell into the Asian QL world was thanks to a Short on YouTube with the main characters from Roommates of Poongduck 304 kissing. (Want to know what convinced me to watch it? One of them was wearing blue and the other pink, two of my favorite colors. Yep, that’s the reason. Told you it would be ridiculous.)
Since then, I’ve been exploring this rabbit hole and loving every second of all the bad shit that’s out there (there’s some great shit too, and some great things that aren’t shit at all, but they’re not really my taste because my taste is trashy, remember?).
I quickly noticed what my taste was pulling me towards and, in some cases, the trashier it was, the more I liked it.
(I’m talking about fiction here. I’m mature enough to be able to separate fiction from reality. Just because I enjoy watching a series/film that depicts a problematic topic, and sometimes do it in a problematic way, doesn’t mean I condone it in real life. I’m just putting this here as a disclaimer because people on the internet are easily offended nowadays. And I honestly don’t have time to respond to people who are venting their anger after purposefully misinterpreting what I’ve said, unless there’s a very valid reason, which there usually isn’t.)
So, what are some of my favorites that I absolutely do not recommend you watch?
Unless you want to watch trash, then, have at it. Just don't say I didn't warn you.
(Btw, if you like any of these, I apologize for calling your taste bad and trashy. But, if you like any of these, I think you already know your taste is bad. Also, if you like any of these, hey, bestie!)
Let’s start with the less extreme ones so I don’t scare you away from the start. After that, they’re in no particular order.
(With the issues/TW section for each series/film I include possible trigger warnings, taboo topics, what viewers/commenters have brought up as problematic, my possible issues with the writing, etc. I won’t list everything (because some of them would have looong lists) but I’m including some of the major ones.)
Kiseki: Dear to Me (Taiwan)
Issues/TW: Dubious consent, age gap, “adoptive” brothers becoming lovers, etc.
Both couples in this series have their own set of issues. Ai Di and Chen Yi are the “adoptive” brothers who become lovers while Ze Rui and Zong Yi have an age gap (I can’t remember how big of an age gap but I think it was close to 10-ish years).
(Before I move on there’s one thing you should know about me… I was born into a family with a varying degree of age gaps within marriages, from 2 to 23 years. Even though we’ve talked about the bigger age gaps occasionally, it’s never been an issue. I don’t mind age gaps as long as they’re legal. Does that mean I would hook up with someone in their late teens or early twenties? No. I would rather hook up with someone who has a fully developed brain, which science suggests doesn’t happen until somewhere in the mid-to-late-twenties. But it does mean that age gaps (as long as they’re legal) aren’t something I’ll be bothered by or judgemental of.)
Kiseki: Dear to Me is one of my favorite series because:
It’s from Taiwan, and the Taiwanese QLs are generally great at dealing with more difficult and taboo topics.
Ai Di is the feistiest, most colorful, and pettiest bitch and I love him with my entire ice-cold heart.
Chen Yi looks amazing in black.
The neon lights (because I’m a slut for that).
Also, the kissing (from both couples) is great.
You know, I did say that these would be series/films I absolutely do not recommend you watch. But I’ll actually recommend this one. Watch it. It’s great.
Unknown (Taiwan)
Issues/TW: Age gap, “adoptive” brothers becoming lovers, etc.
This is another one I’ll actually recommend you watch because it’s great.
The main couple (Qian and Yuan) are the “adoptive” brothers becoming lovers while the age gap is most prominent between San Pang (Qian’s business partner) and Lili (Qian’s younger sister). There’s also the fact that San Pang is part of their chosen family and has seen Lili grow up and stuff. So, if that bothers you, then don’t watch it.
The biggest reasons I would personally recommend it to those I know aren’t particularly bothered by taboo topics are because:
The yearning is palpable (and I love shit like that).
Qian would move heaven and earth for his family.
The great story.
The even more amazing acting.
Some moments made me bawl (and since I'm an ice queen, I get obsessed with shit that shatters my ice and makes me cry).
I know I said my taste is trashy… but I would actually give myself a gold star for loving this one.
Now, back to the real trash…
Love in the Air (Thailand)
Issues/TW: Dubious consent, SA, rape, MAME, etc.
Everyone and their aunt (or however the saying goes in English) seem to have an issue with MAME (the original creator of LITA and several other trashy BLs) and for good reason. (I would say that she improved a lot with Wedding Plan, which is the least problematic thing I’ve watched from her and it’s the latest series of hers, as of right now.) If she’s grown, remains to be seen. But it doesn’t change the fact that LITA has some issues.
Honestly, I just watch this for the visuals, as in the motorcycles and the neon lights. That’s it. That’s the reason.
I mean, if you look at the whole first sex scene between Sky and Prapai, you get what I mean with the neon lights. It’s divine. (I recently rewatched LITA for this very reason. A waste of time, you say? Not when you’re a slut for neon lights.)
Don’t watch this though! Just enjoy this gif instead…
I just saved you 13-ish hours of your life. You’re welcome.
TharnType and TharnType 2: 7 Years of Love (Thailand)
Issues/TW: Dubious consent, homophobia, domestic violence, MAME, etc.
Don’t watch this. This is bad. As in, really bad. And all the issues are in the main couple’s relationship.
But, since my taste is really bad, I rewatched this recently for horny reasons (it’s Mew, after all, and he’s got me in a chokehold for some reason). It’s still as bad as I remembered it, but I would still rewatch it for Mew’s sake (and because Techno is ridiculous throughout both seasons, which means I love him).
To be fair there are other, a lot spicier, series that I watch more often for horny reasons (yes, some of them are in this post because they’re trashy too), but none of them include Mew. And since I have to get my dose of Mew from time to time, I return to TharnType (especially the second season).
Big Dragon (Thailand)
Issues/TW: Dubious consent, blackmail, etc.
This isn’t that problematic in my opinion, but there is definitely a drug-induced sexcapade that’s taped and used for blackmail for a while. And that's how the series starts.
I recently did a rewatch of this and it was still bad (in a good way) and I loved every second of it.
What I love about this series are:
The visuals. The set designs are beautiful (especially Yai’s home and the bar, before he demolishes it). As a visual artist, this is speaking to my soul.
The chemistry between Yai and Mangkorn.
Pong and Park. Two idiots I love with my whole ice-cold heart.
And the title track because it’s addictive as hell to listen to.
Also, the sex (which my horny ass needs). Let's not forget the sex. Those scenes were also visually stunning, which made me love them even more.
Honestly, I'll kneel and bow down to this shit because it's that great.
Don’t trust my judgment, though, because my taste is trashy.
Only Friends (Thailand)
Issues/TW: Manipulation, stalking, promiscuity, etc.
This series is messy in terms of intrigue (especially from Boston and then Boeing’s part). The ending had some issues. The sex isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, either. I, on the other hand, would drink a whole pot of this.
Overall, I loved this trash. Mainly because of:
How visually stunning it is.
Sand. He’s a hardworking, good person. He’s also a proud bi!
How they depicted and handled Ray’s addiction and recovery. (I know some watchers were upset that the focus of the series landed on Sand and Ray towards the end while neglecting the other characters, which is a valid point. However, setting that aside, the way they portrayed Ray’s addiction and then his road to recovery in the last couple of episodes was realistic, and I loved it.)
The promiscuity, because I loved it and the mess it created.
Boston being a slutty asshole. The more of a slutty asshole he was, the more I loved him. (I know, it’s a me-problem.)
Boeing coming in and kissing (almost) everyone.
It’s trashy, it’s messy, and I love it!
But, I don’t recommend it to anyone.
My Beautiful Man 1, 2, and 3 Eternal (Japan)
Issues/TW: Dubious consent, obsession, bullying, lack of (or no real) communication, etc.
I love this series (2 seasons + 1 film), but I honestly don’t see it as particularly problematic. But I know others will disagree with me, so here it is on my list of trashy QLs.
I don’t mind Hira’s obsession because I know Kiyoi is just as whipped for Hira (even though he doesn’t know how to communicate it to Hira at first, especially in a way that Hira understands). Would I be okay with someone’s obsession and stalking in real life? Of course not. But, as I mentioned before, I’m mature enough to separate fiction from reality.
Also, I love miscommunicating characters, especially when the misunderstandings they create bring out all the emotions (angst, hurt, anger, sadness, embarrassment, etc.) and even the flight response. I especially love miscommunicating characters when they learn to communicate throughout the series/film. And this series is especially delicious on the miscommunicating part.
But, it’s also problematic, apparently. So, don’t watch it.
The End of the World With You (Japan)
Issues/TW: Blackmail, biphobia, cheating, etc.
I’ll be honest and say that I’ve only watched this series three times. And that’s because the biphobia is fucking annoying. In this series, the bi character is depicted as a cheater (which is common in QLs, btw). It’s an exasperating stereotype. Cheating has nothing to do with your sexuality and everything to do with who you are as a person.
(I mean, you can be a proud bi like Payu in LITA or Sand in OF. They have eyes only for one person as soon as they’re pursuing or dating someone. Give me more bi characters like this, please.)
We could discuss how cheating can be used as characterization in certain stories. But not in this one. Here, they’re basically using Ritsu’s bisexuality as the reason he’s cheating (since he’s sleeping with Masumi while having a thing going on with a girl, and then sleeping with a girl when he has a thing with Masumi), which is why it’s bothering me in this series.
If I’m going to tell you why I like this series, however, it’s for 2 reasons:
It’s about getting a second chance, a topic I love.
The sex (laser-focused horny Ritsu is my favorite Ritsu).
Check Out (Thailand)
Issues/TW: Biphobia, cheating, lazy writing, etc.
(It should be mentioned that I’ve read some comments about some issues involving the company behind this series. I haven’t dug deeper into this so I don’t really know if there’s any substance to the comments I’ve read (like official statements from the company or the other people involved, etc.). But I’m putting this out there in case this might be a potential issue for you (even though I’ve already told you that I don’t recommend you watch any of these because they’re all trashy).)
When I first checked this out at the beginning of this year, this series seemed to have created a storm of bad comments and reviews on MDL since it first came out. So, obviously, I needed to watch it because my taste is trashy.
And, you know what? I loved it!
Besides having the bi character depicted as a cheater (again, the use of this biphobic stereotype is so fucking annoying) and the sporadic clunky and stale scenes, I loved this series because:
It’s about second chances. As I mentioned before, I love that topic.
Best (the actor playing Daonuea) is the best in this series. There’s just something about him that grabs my attention every time. He has me in a similarly tight chokehold as Mew.
There’s sex (and my horny ass needs it).
But, it’s also trash, so don’t watch it.
Pit Babe (Thailand)
Issues/TW: Domestic violence, non-consensual, SA, age gap, etc.
This became popular. Really popular. I saw people comment about it everywhere. And usually, when stuff becomes popular, it’s more than likely reduced to trash quality by the general public. So, obviously, I had to watch it.
Did I end up loving it? Yes.
Honestly, the biggest issue this series had for me was the whole omegaverse thing (this was a new thing for me because I don’t come from an erotic fiction background, my head was rather stuck in fantasy fiction). And, from my limited understanding of this, they didn’t seem to fully commit to the omegaverse thing in Pit Babe, which was unfortunate.
The racing was also so-so for me, which hurt my soul because I usually love racing (cars, mcs, boats, etc.).
What I did like, however, was:
The chemistry between Pete and Kenta (and I’m so sad I only got crumbs of this).
Pavel (the actor playing Babe). I would watch and listen to him recite product placement scripts for toothpaste all day long.
The sex, especially the scene with Babe and Charlie in ep. 9 (even though it was mixed with clips from the racing) and Jeff and Alan’s scene in ep. 13 (because it was sensual, if we ignore the music).
The neon lights (have I mentioned that I’m a slut for neon lights?). I mean, just look at this:
I can watch that pinkish light all day long, even though Babe and Charlie are trying to distract me. (Especially Pavel!)
Dead Friend Forever (Thailand)
Issues/TW: Grooming, bullying, suicide & suicide attempts, etc.
Besides the issues listed above, this also suffered from lazy writing at the end. BUT, I fucking loved DFF anyway.
I never expected to love this series because it’s just a bunch of teenagers stuck at a house in the woods. How interesting could that be? Turns out, very.
DFF wasn’t perfect (perfection doesn’t exist anyway), but what I loved about it was:
The morally ambiguous characters.
The revenge plot.
The poetic justice.
The questioning of what was real vs hallucination.
The visually stunning shots.
The mask!
And Tan’s mask!
The beheading scene.
I could go on, but you get the point. I just love this piece of trash.

But, please, don’t watch it. You will suffer from brain rot. Trust me.
I, however, am currently rewatching this because I choose the brain rot. And my taste is trashy, remember? Or, perhaps I just love watching chaos unfold…
HIStory 3: Make Our Days Count (Taiwan)
Issues/TW: Dubious consent, age gap, tragic ending, etc.
Everyone and their aunt and even their dog have an issue with the ending of this one. And it’s understandable.
I don’t necessarily like or dislike the ending. Obviously, the bury your gays trope is tragic in itself, and, tragically, it’s still being used. That’s why I couldn’t find myself liking the ending, even though I don’t mind tragic endings. (Romeo and Juliet is one of my favorite classics, which people tend to forget is a tragedy and not a romance, btw, but I digress…)
At the same time, though, this series made me cry for a whole episode before tragedy struck because I could feel it. And you have no idea how obsessed I get about shit that makes me cry (since I’m an ice queen).
(Another side note: one of my favorite BLs is Once Again, which made me bawl throughout the whole series. It’s not on this list because it’s neither trashy nor bad, but it’s still one of my favorites because it broke me in the best ways. But, anyway…)
The best part of this series from beginning to end was the other couple, at least for me. This couple is the one with the age gap (which, again, doesn’t bother me) and I fucking love them! One, because Wilson Liu (the actor playing Bo Xiang) is such a gem. Second, because their first time was such a spur-of-the-moment thing fueled by a desire that went from 0-100kph in less time than a Ferrari would. And I loved it (just as much as the squeezing of boobs from behind, which, for some reason, appeals to me).
Also, the twins are so pretty it’s annoying.
Do I recommend it, though? No, because I don’t have time to respond to the clap back I’ll get when you come to the end.
HIStory 4: Close to You (Taiwan)
Issues/TW: Dubious consent, SA, obsession, age gap, stepbrothers becoming lovers, etc.
This one has some problems (especially the relationship between Yong Jie and Xing Si), but I love both the series and its problems (yes, I’m trash). You could say that I’m as obsessed with this series as Yong Jie is with Xing Si. Would I get this series drunk and fuck the living daylights out of it? No. But I would watch it once every 3 months or so. Oh, wait… I already do that. Because I’m trash.
What do I love so much about this series (other than what I mentioned above):
It’s from Taiwan.
Li Cheng is ridiculous, which is exactly why I love him.
Every time I rewatch it, it gets funnier.
The chemistry between Li Cheng and Teng Teng is amazing.
As well as the chemistry between Yong Jie and Xing Si.
The kissing is just as amazing.
The main fujoshi girl, Mei Fang, is so cute I can’t handle her.
And the bathroom scene! In that lighting! It’s iconic!
I don’t care what anyone else says. This is fucking gold to me. But, then again, my taste is trash. So, don’t listen to me.
KinnPorsche (Thailand)
Issues/TW: Dubious consent, SA, torture, Stockholm syndrome-ish, etc.
This is some next-level trash, and I fucking love it.
Two of the major relationships in this series (Kinn & Porsche and Vegas & Pete) are problematic at some point. Especially Vegas and Pete who have this whole captor/captive, torture, BDSM-ish type relationship. Of course, I love Vegas and Pete because my taste is super trashy (yes, it’s a me-problem, but I don’t force my taste on other people, so, for the love of all that is holy, don’t watch this!).
Other reasons I love this series and rewatch it from time to time:
It’s visually stunning! The cinematography is amazing. As I mentioned before, I’m a visual artist, so this is a very valid reason for me to watch it again and again. And again.
The neon lights.
The whole mafia thing.
The sex (because my horny ass needs it).
Playboyy (Thailand)
Issues/TW: SA, homophobia, suicide, etc.
I was debating whether or not to add this to my list solely based on the ending. However, up until that point, I really liked it.
The fact that every episode starts with a whole ass list of trigger warnings tells me this is my shit. And it was.
At times, it was so bad that it was good (until the ending, which was just so bad it was bad). The things I liked were:
The mystery.
Win (who played Nuth). His acting was great.
The chemistry between Nuth and Phop.
The tattooed daddy that’s Aob and his chemistry with Puen (there’s also an age gap here, btw, but as I’ve mentioned before, it’s fine by me as long as it’s legal).
The weird ass sex scenes (and the underwear).
And the not so weird ass sex scenes (like the ones between Aob and Puen and the ones between Nuth and Phop).
But, this series is trashy. Keep as far away from it as possible. If you still decide to dip in, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Red Wine in the Dark Night (Thailand)
Issues/TW: Obsession, blood, human blood bags, etc.
This is a queer film that’s BL-ish with some dark themes. Mainly, it’s about how far Wine would go to help the person he’s fallen for (or become attached to).
What I loved about this film was:
Fluke (who plays Wine). He’s such a great actor and I love him in everything he does.
Wine who is so desperate to love someone and be loved that he ends up doing some weird shit.
The darker and sadder vibe, which I love.
Irresistible Love 1 and Irresistible Love 2 (China)
(This is also called Uncontrolled Love.)
Issues/TW: Obsession, homophobia, codependency, adoptive brothers becoming lovers, etc.
This is another queer film (in two parts) that is more BL-ish than the films I’m getting into below.
This depicts a weird relationship dynamic between Xie Yan and Shu Nian where Shu Nian was basically adopted into the family to become Xie Yan’s friend/babysitter/lackey. This is some weird ass shit, and I love weird ass shit so I really enjoyed this rare, uncensored, gem from China.
But, it’s also trashy. So, don’t watch it.
The next couple of films I’ll mention are (obviously) trashy, but also complex and deep (which is why I love them).
One Summer Night (South Korea)
Issues/TW: Obsession, dependency, oppression, etc.
This is a low-budget film from 2016 (so, production-wise, it’s definitely nothing like the usual stuff from South Korea you can watch on Netflix), but I love it.
It’s gritty, it’s raw, it’s explicit (an emphasis on explicit because you’ll see dicks), it deals with being a North Korean defector but ending up in an impoverished situation in South Korea, and it ends with a dubious ending you can interpret in different ways.
This is definitely not for the general QL viewers who watch QLs for the cutesy stuff.

And it's trashy. So, don’t watch it.
Dangerous Drugs of Sex (Japan)
Issues/TW: All the trigger warnings! Seriously. I feel like it’s better to say that so you’ll look up the TWs for yourself (if you choose to watch this, which I'm asking you not to) rather than me mentioning a few and forgetting others.
With this film, what others see are all the trigger warnings (and, yes, I see them too, they’re fucking obvious). However, I can see beyond that and watch it for what it is at the core: Two characters dealing with incredible grief.
Grief is a topic that often affects me and I can relate to it because I’ve had to deal with a lot of grief in my relatively short life. Watching a film like this where grief pushes the characters to their very limits will (often) get a special place in my heart, especially if done well. And it’s done very well in this film.
Do I condone the characters’ behaviors? No (especially not Yoden Ryoji’s). But I do understand that grief can send you over the edge (and in some cases throw you off the edge) because I’ve experienced it. I do understand that grief can cause you to make horrible decisions because I’ve done it (though, not this extreme). I do understand that grief can be self-destructive because I’ve been there. This film shows it all. That’s why I love it so much.
Do I recommend you watch this, tough? No. Don’t do it. This is not for everyone. It’s definitely not for those who watch QLs for the cutesy stuff.
But it is for me because I love trash. Especially good trash. And this is the best trash I’ve ever seen when it comes to gay films.
Anything by Scud Cheng
Lastly, I want to mention any film by Scud Cheng because…
And I’m an artist so art means everything to me.
Cheng is a screenwriter and director from Hong Kong. His films, the ones I’ve seen, are gritty, nude, and real. They are more on the art side than the others I’ve listed above, which is why they have a special place in my heart.
They’re also deep and explore themes like introspection (are we doing things because we believe they’re the right thing to do, or because external forces have “brainwashed” us to believe they’re the normal thing to do?), the porn industry and how it exploits young and queer men, death, politics, and love, to name a few.
These are not for the average QL watcher. They’re not for the faint of heart. They’re not for those who want an entertaining watch.
These films require multiple viewings. I’ve watched some once, some twice, and some more times, and I still find new themes and meanings woven into the stories. So, they’re complex and deep.
But, don’t watch them because I know you’ll come at me later. So, to spare us both the time and energy it would take to argue about this shit, just don’t watch any of it.
Now, if you still want to ask me for recommendations after all that, don't tell me I didn't warn you!

follow me plz
Hi guys :) I want more followers who are j2 fans. Tin hats, wincest, anti destiel & anti cockles too. Even non shippers as long as they aren’t judgy. I’ve met quite a few who are super “you’re going to hell for shipping fictional characters from a fictional show, you must support incest in real life cus I can’t separate reality from fiction so you must not be able to either” I know you shippers know the type I’m talking about. Which is cool. Everyone should have their own opinion but don’t force yours down others throats over something that isn’t that serious. But yeah, follow me if you like :)

"Ok but the ask you’re responding to is specifically saying that there’s a difference between depiction or endorsement and endorsement is a problem that many self-identified proship people are just refusing to acknowledge because it’s more convenient to argue every anti is against any bad thing being depicted ever. "
Here is the definition of endorsement: an act of giving one's public approval or support to someone or something
Here is the definition of depiction: to show or represent by a drawing, painting, or other art form
Please take notice of how the definition of depiction does not mention realism and how the definition of endorsement is specified as an act of giving public support/approval. If someone writes/draws something themed around abuse but portrays it wildly inaccurate, but they do not specifically say, "Hey yeah, I support this thing IRL," it is not an endorsement of that thing. It is just a depiction, however inaccurate, however inappropriately inaccurate
"You do get that pretty much all stories that depict murder, terrorism, torture etc. don’t portray it positively, right. Heck, terrorism is something people famously define by whether it’s justified or not, and there’s a fair few common terrorist tactics most will agree cannot be justified at all like bombing civilians and the like regardless of your cause (not the least because because they aren’t even going to further said cause). If a story said that someone was objectively in the right for doing a 9/11 analogue I doubt most “antis” would be cool with that."
Maybe it's because I don't engage with children's media, but most stories I read or watch flip-flop between portraying all those topics either accurately or inaccurately, and either positively or negatively. Children's media portray things as is because children's brains aren't fully developed and they need to be taught right from wrong, truth from lie, and reality from fiction. Once your brain is developed enough to separate the difference, bad things can be portrayed as good and good as bad because a strong moral framework that won't waver on just stories alone should have already been developed
Saw movies are just gore porn, same with slashers and most horror in general. You root for the villain because you watch those movies special for the brutal unexcusable violence, violence portrayed purely for entertainment and thus can absolutely be considered "romanticize" if not just straight up sexualized. John Wick, you root for him to kill all these people because one person hurt him, you root for him to take countless humans lives over the grief and pain of a singular animal life. You root for the glorified romanticized violence, cheer for it, in fact.
Also, with the attitude towards America today, I can already bet there are people already out their claiming that 9/11 was deserved, and those kind of people exist everyone, and that includes within anti groups. This argument is just a straw man fallacy. Also, more so than anything, if someone was to write a story from the perspective of someone who believes the attack was deserved, I can guarantee that it would most likely be, with 99% certainty, be aimed at adults. Adults, that I remind you, should be developed enough to understand that this is a story with an unreliable narrator, and that just because they the character glamorize the tragedy doesn't mean that they the person should too. Most proshippers and antis and everyone else not sucked into that toxic waste pit of shipping/censorship discourse would be able to accept that, and even if they think it's distasteful, understand at the end of the day it's just a story that trys to take into the mind of someone horrid to try and make sense of their horridness
"Also there’s a key factor you’re ignoring here. There are circumstances where it is justifiable to kill someone. Most concede at least self defense cases."
Definition of murder: the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another.
Definition of manslaughter: the crime of killing a human being without malice aforethought, or otherwise in circumstances not amounting to murder.
In most places, killing self-defense isn't murder, it's manslaughter.
Murder very, very rarely is considered justifed by most people. Manslaughter, however, tends to be more debatabled. But even then, debatable is the key word. Their is no definited, absolutely line in the sand of accepted manslaughter and unacceptable manslaughter. People absolutely do argue about self-defense killings. Some believe it's just as bad as murder. Some feel it's a gray thing where the killer still needs some of consequence, some believe it's fully excuseable.
What you see in movies more often than not, though, is murder, not manslaughter. It is deliberate and/or done after the threat has been lifted. More often than not, from my experience, it's revenge killings, not self-defense.
This argument is just morality wank and the "key factory" of "justifiably" is completely subjective. It's a variable, not the control
"Like, another ask tried to use John Wick as a gotcha because it’s a “toxic love and bad actions portrayed positively” or smth because John Wick being motivated by into killing several gangsters who broke into his home, killed his dog, and are shown to murder people (including a priest who worked for them), by his love for his dog. And somehow that’s just as bad as someone being in an abusive relationship and that being seen as a good thing."
Are you talking about a real being in an abusive relationship and being told that's good, or about a fictional character in a fictional relationship experiencing fictional abuse portrayed inaccurately? I am assuming it's inaccurate fiction you're talking about, fiction, that once again would be aimed at adults, who can understand that this depiction is inaccurate. Just like how they can cheer on for John Wick and his romanticized violence in the context of a story and hate that same violence when acted out in real life, they can cheer on for a fictional inaccurate abusive relationship in the context of fiction and hate that same abuse when acted out in real life
Not only that, once again, whether abuse or murder is worse, be it in fiction or reality, is debatabled. Many can argue that romanticized and/or real murder is worse than abuse because murder is final wherest abuse can be healed from with time and effort
"Like, absurd as that comparison is on its own, it also relies on that killing being equivalent to any other form of killing regardless of context. And that’s silly because obviously there’s a difference between killing someone in self defense or as justified retaliation (again, the mobsters in this example are in fact murderers of people too) versus just murdering innocent people. "
The difference is subjective, "justiced retaliation" is extremely subjective, all of this argument is subjective
"You can’t say that with rape, incest, pedophilia etc. There’s not a circumstance where that can be justified. Every case is horrible and unjustified, there are not types you can rightly portray as a good thing or as morally acceptable."
Don't get me wrong, I agree that real life rape, incest, pedophilia is all wrong, but there are people who disagree. Justifiably is always subjective in the real world, and laws in many places reflect that justifiably, child marriage is still legal in many places, so incest, and so is rape. If I was to really push and play the devil's advocate and come up with a 1 in a trillion bullshit argument, how justifiable would rape be if their was a gun to your head, maybe even to your familes heada too, and you werw told to either assult this person or be murdered? I could easily agrue that rape in that situation is justifiable under the argument that preserving life is more important than preventing momentary trauma
"I never thought I’d have to explain this but here we are."
You didn't have to do anything. You felt like a little knight, a ray of light, the hero abmist the icky villains who just couldn't stand aside. We're here because of your egotistical sense of self-righteousness, not of genuine necessity. Don't conflate the two
Posting as a response to a previous ask.

Kind of weirdo behavior to not be able to separate fiction from reality.
The actors are real people and you really don’t need them to get together to keep your head canons. “The relationship” PR or Not should not affect your view point on the show. Because your view point of these characters is entirely fictional.
The Actors as real life beings are not NPCs or the characters they play on screen.
It’s very disturbing when a fandom starts doing this and vilifying real people. Especially since a lot of you aren’t teenagers anymore, you’re in your mid to late twenties and should know how to disconnect real people from curated media.
write or read some fanfics to cope.

hi mello ! i’m feeling a bit bold (as far as bold goes considering i’m asking anonymously) i wanted to ask abt your opinion considering how yk like usually nsfw pages tend to strictly ban minors (rightfully so ofc) but then write content of characters who are minors aged up, and idk why but to me aging up the character never seemed right cuz doing so gives the space for others (like those ppl that would justify sexualizing young characters and then say ‘oh but they’re like this dragon hybrid thing so they’re actually 9000 years old) to use this as an excuse to make said nsfw content,,
but yeah,, no hate ofc !!!! just wanted to explore the reasoning behind aging up characters cuz i don’t fully understand it so i wanna hear someone else’s opinion and you seemed to be the most approachable
no pressure tho, if you don’t wanna answer that’s totally fine you don’t owe it to anyone x
take care !!
-🩰

hm. well, it’s because i literally do not give a fuck LOL
to me, it is drawings. they don’t have feelings, they don’t breathe, they aren’t human. they were made up. so, if they were made up to be a certain age by someone, what is stoping me from changing that age? they aren’t real…so idk man it just doesn’t seem immoral to me.
just like i age down characters for my big brother au, or i wrote a shit ton of characters as literal hybrids. it’s not real, so i can change characters in the way i see fit because i am an author. you are x reader fics, which in no way will ever be real, so i just don’t think that being able to change a characters age will do harm.
so when i see, for example, yuuji itadori, and i think that i am attracted to him, never in my mind does something flash the words “he is a minor” because to me…he isn’t, at least in my fics with him. it’s just the way you interpret it, and that’s what causes the “controversy” on tumblr.
i also see characters in my fics as prototypes? ig u can call it? with the same example, my yuuji x reader fics, he would look like yuuji itadori, act like yuuji itadori, but he isn’t. he isn’t written by gege, he isn’t animated by mappa. he is written by me, which means i have the power over him to do what i seen fit. if that is to write smut/romance, then he will be a adult, because I am an adult and i made this au. although neither of them are not real, they are two separate entities of each other
andddd this is completely different than minors irl. a drawing of something is completely different than a human being that is under the age of 18. tbh if you can’t separate fiction versus reality then…no offense but i do not see whoever you are as an intelligent being LOL. but that sounds mean, i am not bashing anyone who doesn’t agree with aging characters up, but it is the same people who bash on this who read/interact with dark content. like all of the sudden they can seprate fiction and reality when it regards to yandere…..
but like i said in the beginning, i don’t give a fuck what people do with my work.. if you want to interpret a character as a child, that’s disgusting, but it’s not my fault? if your mind is to think of a character as a child when reading smutty things, then you are sick in the head, but it’s not like my readings spurred it on. they will always be like that, regardless of what they are reading.
i write (95% of the time) for myself. i don’t see the character as a child, and honestly that’s all that matters to me at least. i can’t stop the small amount of people from having pedophilic thoughts about my work, but to be honest, i am not going to let that ruin my fun. i think about myself firstly — i am not a good person anon
hope this didn’t come across as rude, and when i say “you” i am not regarding you as yourself, ig i’m talking to people who shit on others who age characters up. not the people who disagree with it, and remain silent (respectful) about it

i’m someone who used to be very anti-whatever but without being an actual anti, because true antis were insane (genuinely, by the definition of not being able to discern between either lawful OR moral right and wrong, they would fit the legal requirement) to the point that they sent people anon hate and death threats, doxxed people they didn’t like and went so far out of their way to act as though they were persecuted or oppressed for not wanting to see certain types of fanworks.
me, i just throw tags for things i don’t want to see on tumblr’s filtered content/tags list and only occasionally does my curiosity kill me and i self harm by opening a filtered post to see a perspective i personally find disagreeable and feel compelled to rant about it to my 5 followers.
more and more i have grown to accept “fiction isn’t reality and fictional characters aren’t real people so it doesn’t really matter if they have agency or not within a fan-made relationship.” but i also believe that there’s a certain degree where you can’t separate art from the artist and that applies to transformative artists too.
for example, if you're a white author and you have a racial bias that involves black people and you write a fanfiction plot in which all of the black characters are written to act as caretakers to white protagonists and white companions (and it’s ALWAYS the black characters who have to manage their emotions in the story), that’s probably not just a coincidence and it wouldn’t be very good to say “oh it’s just fiction it’s not hurting anything.”
the fanfic itself? no, it simply existing for people to interact with or ignore as they please is probably not hurting anything, i agree with that. but the author who wrote the fic and is a real person with a voice that gets reinforced in their own ideology bleeding through into their work every time they receive likes or kudos or bookmarks or comments or hits or reblogs or whatever? i just think maybe we should evaluate stuff like that a little more carefully, idk.
i know people have a thousand arguments for why writing content like noncon/dubcon, torture, incest, toxic romance, etc. doesn’t make someone a bad person and there's also a thousand arguments people make about why it does
i've always found it weird that proshippers get so defensive and act as though it is a divine right to be able to post a shit ton of toxic yaoi because someone told them it made them uncomfortable. but i do know that's kind of a natural reaction in people to some extent and identity protective cognition works in such a way that if they perceive something as an attack on their personal sense of self, their nervous system is wired to react the same way it would react to a physical threat because it doesn't know how else to process that. the real question i have is: why is the initial response perceived as an attack in the first place, and why are people still living in a mental state where their default reaction is to feel like they're being attacked when they're generally in their late 20s, 30s, and onward in fandom spaces?
one argument in the 90s and early 2000s was that violent video games don’t inherently make people violent and it was proven in peer-reviewed studies that it doesn't, but what we do know is repeated exposure to violent acts in video games can alter the way a person may perceive violence in reality and they might become desensitized to seeing or hearing about violence in the real world and violence might become normalized in a way that it wouldn't if they didn't play the violent video game. modern military recruitment propaganda is based on this idea. if the military can get ahold of people playing call of duty or overwatch or fortnite when they're still young and impressionable, they can mold those kids into becoming future soldiers by targeting that age demographic and presenting them jobs in the military as being like "see, you can actually do these things in real life!" until they see the appeal.
and we know that even hollywood fiction can seep into real life perspective. all you have to do is look up the statistics on how much shark killings increased after the movie JAWS released, or how much the dalmatian dog market increased after 101 and 102 Dalmatians released, or how much Labrador puppy breeding increased after Marley & Me released. what that says to me is that people don't just watch movies and go "oh, it's just fiction." actually, it seems more and more like people mainly watch movies to feel justified in who they are and what they do. if a character does something they like, they generally love that character. if a character does something they hate or don't like, they generally don't like that character. which makes sense really, because duh. that's why fandoms exist. everyone experiences fandom differently because we are all humans with different human experiences, but at the end of the day we join fandoms for a reason and that reason is very individual and personalized.
idk, tl;dr: i think there's a lot of nuance to be had in the discussion of fiction vs. reality. i'm tired of seeing people run off the internet for dead dove content but i don't think picking fights with teenagers or new adults is the answer either. i think fiction does affect reality but not in the way that the majority of people think it does and I don't think most people are as good at separating fiction from reality as they like to think they are.

5 Misconceptions About Hot Tub Ownership And Maintenance - Poolwarehouse Uk
Owning a hot tub is one of those things that seems synonymous with luxury for many of us; if you don’t yet have one, you might well greatly aspire to having one.
However, particularly if you’ve been waiting a while to get into a financial and practical position to own a hot tub, you might have come across suggestions or myths about the hot tub ownership experience that are some distance from reality.
As an online store providing excellent-value hot tub and swimming pool chemicals here at Pool Warehouse, we realised we were strongly placed to separate the facts from the fiction. So, let’s take a look at some of the most frequent misconceptions.
It costs too much to run a hot tub
Many people have come to believe – particularly in light of the worries over energy prices in recent years – that it would be prohibitively expensive to operate a hot tub at their home, even if they can afford the upfront cost of one.
However, this cost is often greatly exaggerated. If you can afford to pay an additional £1 a day on energy than you currently do, there is a good chance that – depending on how extensively you use it – you can manage the ongoing expense of a hot tub just fine.
It takes too much time to look after a hot tub
This is a classic accompaniment to the aforementioned myth – “sure, I might be able to afford to run a hot tub, but keeping on top of the maintenance would be a nightmare!”
The great news is… this doesn’t have to be the case. Once you have done your research and put in place an informed and consistent schedule for the maintenance of your hot tub – including the use of appropriate tools and chemicals – you’ll realise you can pick up this process relatively quickly. Then, it will be largely a case of keeping up the routine.
You can only use a hot tub a few months a year
Again, this doesn’t match the reality of hot tub ownership for great numbers of people. It is common for hot tub owners in the UK and beyond to enjoy evening dips during the autumn and winter, for example, relaxing in warm, bubbling water as they marvel at the night sky.
The chemicals used in hot tubs irritate the eyes
As you will know if you have looked at the section of our online store dedicated to hot tub chemicals, both chlorine and bromine are commonly used in hot tubs. The use of such chemicals is key to ensuring hot tub water remains clean and bacteria-free.
It has, however, been suggested from time to time that chlorine and bromine can be irritating to the eyes of hot tub users. This shouldn’t occur unless the user in question is allergic to the chemicals or the chemicals aren’t balanced correctly. You can use testing equipment to check whether the latter might be the case.
The hot water and filters are sufficient on their own to keep the hot tub clean
You might have heard that the combination of the hot water and the filters in a hot tub is enough to make any other maintenance unnecessary.
However, this is definitely a myth you will need to ignore. The reality is, it is hugely important to proactively maintain a hot tub, to protect both the tub itself and the health of its users. Typical hot tub temperatures aren’t high enough to do the job of cleaning and sanitising the spa without additional intervention.
For a comprehensive range of hot tub and swimming pool chemicals that will assist your efforts to ensure such maintenance and the healthy enjoyment of your hot tub, there is no need for you to look further than Pool Warehouse.

Man, I felt this message in my soul. When it comes to music my taste is all over the place. I listen to a little bit of everything (R&B, Gospel, Hip-Hop, Indie, Punk-Rock,etc.). Ask me last year, most music on my phone was R&B with Christian music in general coming 2nd or 3rd. Ask me today and most of my music is Christian whether it be Christian R&B, Rap, contemporary, or Gospel. Yet, I still listen to “secular” music. Like I told my pastor one day, “You can be in the World, but not of the World”. Noting to what Lecrae said, “ We weren’t born Christians”. So why is music such a trigger around debates around how people should and shouldn’t be living their lives?
I agree with Lecrae when it comes to a person’s creative side much of our influence comes from the dominant culture which uses various forms of media to teach folks how they should interpret and perceive the world. This can be dangerous because some of the messages we gain from society or mainstream media can perpetuate negative stereotypes about specific groups of people and communities. It also creates division among God’s people whether we consider ourselves Believers or non-Believers. All reality, we are all God’s children, so why do we tend to judge, criticize, condemn or demonize folks for not living in a Godly manner that we think that individual should be living? People tend to forget that we aren’t in a position to be judging others especially when we aren’t practicing what we’re preaching. You can’t be all about God, but not living in Christ.
And why do we always got to label things as good or bad/evil? Like the podcast focused on “Secular music vs. Christian music”. What’s really important in that conversation is what are the true intentions of the person or people creating any type of music or any type of art. How can music be used to spread God’s message as well as how can music be used to make effective positive changes in our communities and the world as a whole.
I’m not a rapper or any type of musician but I am a poet. Before I became a poet, I became a writer. Before I became a writer, I became a reader. I’m a total bookworm to this day, and I am 27 years old. To become good or even excellent at a particular craft or artistry, you have to learn from the masters or the Greats at whatever you’re trying to succeed at. But not all the masters are considered Believers, but that shouldn’t stop us from learning them. We can use their skills and knowledge to help us perfect our skill sets to better impact our world while also exposing those to the existence of Jesus Christ.
The only way to become a better writer, I have to read. Not only read, but read a wide array of diverse books whether the diversity stems by fiction or nonfiction, authors, genres, and/or writing formats (novels, short stories, poems, scripts, news articles, etc.). Like with anyone my relationship with God has its ups & downs, and I had my moments when I feel into temptation. However, I was able to find myself again and remind myself that my life and life purpose outweighs the temporary things that’s supposed make us happy or feel fulfilled. In this context, I’m glad that the main adults throughout my life never restricted or prohibited me from reading certain books they weren’t labelled as Christian or Godly. Having that freedom helped me to expand my worldview and gain a better understanding of other people who were different from myself; experiencing a different world than what I’ve been experiencing. I have read a few books written by Christian authors but the context has been basically the same as if I were to read a secular book.
All to say, do what’s right for you and consume material that you know doesn’t go against your beliefs. And if you feel that listening to secular music is a struggle for you, then don’t listen to secular music. For myself, I listen to both types of music and don’t separate two. When it comes to music, I’m more focused on the message and meaning behind the words than focusing on the image or the lifestyle that the musician is portraying because it all can be a lie at the end of the day.

discussion questions for looking for alaska, john green… major spoilers
as promised yesterday… the discussion questions at the back of my book.
1. “is forgiveness universal? i mean, is forgiveness really available to all people, no matter the circumstances? is it, for instance, possible for the dead to forgive the living, and for the living to forgive the dead?”
yes, forgiveness is really opinion, even if you don’t or can’t forgive something done to you or someone else doesn’t mean someone else won’t. you can come to terms with things and still understand that things that happened to you/others were wrong and doesn’t need immediate forgiveness. on the other hand you may easily forgive someone while those around you don’t. for the second half of this question, i still want to say yes because at that point forgiveness is more so to yourself. if you wronged someone who later passed away you can’t technically be forgiven and vice versa, but you or the other person could forgive themselves in your place. it’s sort of unfair but then again one party has passed and i think once you’ve passed things don’t really matter much anymore.
2. “i would argue that both fiction and in real life, teenage smoking is a symbolic action. what do you think it’s intended to symbolize, and what does it actually end up symbolizing? to phrase this question differently: why would anyone ever pay money in exchange for the opportunity to acquire lung cancer and/or emphysema?”
i think it symbolizes maturity. everyone wants what they can’t have and what’s more immature than pretending to be adult and cool by slowly killing themselves? so i think that answers the questions, it’s meant to symbolize maturity but in reality shows more of the opposite. even in the book, mike’s only started smoking because everyone around him was and he wanted to be cool.
3. “do you like alaska? do you think it’s important to like people you read about?”
when i first started the book i actually disliked alaska, i just saw her as one of those people who smoke too much and drink too much and don’t do anything to help themselves, i expected her to be a bad influence in the other characters. but as i continued i started to really like her, she’s realistic and easy to see yourself in. i think her character showcases grief well (just as the other ones do), especially at the end of her story when she passed. for the second part of this question, i don’t think it’s important to like the people you read about, i think sometimes the point is that the characters are unlikeable. not only is it interesting but i think it shows skillful writing.
4. “by the end of this novel, pudge has a lot to say about immortality and what the point of being alive is (if there is a point). to what extent do your thoughts on mortality shape your understanding of life’s meaning?”
i think death is a part of life, but it’s very separate. i used to be somewhat of a nihilist, i was constantly feeling nothing because i constantly thought of dying. i figured there was no point in anything if you die in the end and i think that’s a common struggle for people. you just have to realize that death should be the reason you do things, not because there may be a heaven or hell or whatever, but because there may not be, imagine sitting in darkness for all eternity with the only thoughts you’ll be able to have is that you spent your time alive moping because you aren’t immortal. immortality is hardly living anyways, at some point you’ll do everything you could ever do and you’d probably wish to die, which is just depressing. so in all, not to sound cheesy, but my thoughts on mortality make me want to live to my fullest, it makes me want to try things, and laugh, and meet people. i’ve come a long way from my nihilism and that’s what i hope for everyone because once you realize life is worth living then you actually start living.
5. “how could you answer the old man’s final question for his students? what would your version of pudges essay look like?”
for reference, the question was, “how will you-you personally-ever get out of this labyrinth of suffering?”. i think it’s a very tough question, i want to say that there is a way to escape at all, but really there isn’t and that’s the point of a labyrinth. humans will always suffer at one point or another, every person experiences suffering, i think accepting that helps you see the labyrinth differently. the suffering helps you get further through the labyrinth as you learn from your past sufferings and mistakes. and maybe one day you will get to the beast in the middle of the labyrinth where you can find out if you will be able to defeat it, or if it will defeat you, no matter what that beast is for you the suffering will end and that is what will get you out of the labyrinth, if not physically, your mindset.
that’s all the questions, i haven’t really proofread so apologies for mistakes if anyone reads through. i enjoy these questions because even just asking them to myself helps me love the book i’ve finished even more and understand it better too. this book was very good, of course that’s expected from john green, he’s definitely one of my favorite authors.

https://www.tumblr.com/joe-moi/735383832131436544/why-do-ppl-want-joe-to-be-typecasted-as-the-himbo
I think there was a similar discussion here the other day over how a lot of people in fandom don’t really care for joe as an actor, they just like Steve. Steve is heroic and a “good guy”, and so they are able to thirst over him and feel good about it too since Steve isn’t a bad guy. But when joe expands his range and plays new people he hasn’t done before, it almost offends them because they can’t keep babygirlifying his new characters without feeling guilty lol.
It’s the whole thing about separating fiction from reality and also that fictional characters are not real, and that fictional villains are also not real. So no, a lot them just want Steve. They aren’t that interested in joe as an actor and what other more controversial characters be might play. They have a bad case of fandom-brainTM because they can’t just agree that Gator is hot af but also a bad person. Like.. it’s ok to say he’s hot, he’s literally not real 💀😭
I totally get this. Because a lot of people struggle to separate the actor from their character. And I see that with people who are fans of Steve, and people who are fans of Eddie. These two men are not their characters. I would argue that they’re not even really like their characters. Maybe a little bit more with Steve and JK but definitely not JQ and Eddie.
and it’s hard because some people are only looking at him is kind of like this sexy boy that is on their TV and not as the intellectual man that’s an actor in real life. And like that’s OK as long as you realize that you like Steve, and not that you like JK. Because he’s not going to be Steve in everything. He’s going to take more parts like gator because that’s what his job is. This is how he shows his talent and his range.

Day 9 of Nanowrimo
I’ve made it clear that I’m doing Nanowrimo, the novel writing month, and I’m really feeling the stress of other things while I’m writing and some of it will be about the stories that I want to write about Sydney, some of is the emotions that I’m finding as write and find catharsis about other things. I’m realising how much the emotions really are affecting me and I’m not sure how to feel about it. I don’t want to make this blog or the writing everything to do with my mental state as I write it because I have other things to think about too, about characters and place and different plots that I want to try out, and what it looks like to have short form fiction not really “have” a plot. And then in the process of writing I have million different ideas, popping up from the subconscious from whence they were left alone because I know that I have concentrate on one at a time because the way that my brain work - it just wants to work on novelty and that doesn’t get you very far. I don’t think that I’m a very good writer, just one that’s in progress.
And separate to all of this is the fact that I have think about the more mundane things about living in Sydney, the very fact that I’m having difficulty parsing out what workplaces can understand and how much this is impacting the mental energy that I want to be using on my Nanowrimo journey.
While I am not going to deliver all my thoughts on either because this isn’t what this is exactly about, its about process of exploring small worlds. And some of those small worlds intersect. The reality of regulating emotions in a world that is very difficult to live in is a “not finished” place. But neither is it worth mentioning after the fact because I don’t know if there is someone that needs to hear that it’s okay to be bad at regulating emotions, and its okay to not because their environmental concerns aren’t letting them do that thing. The environmental concerns being the constant impacts of ignoring the world around us because we aren’t able to understand or process it because we are such a state of survival.
I’m not going to outline the tips to regulate emotions because the obvious ones are just to look after yourself. But it is developing and creating a small world that is conducive to supporting you through this. And while many people have found that community through established institutions, I’ve found largely that these institutions are not fit for purpose. They hold that community and its benefits with conditional practice. Only those who are deemed to be appropriate and reasonable are afforded it’s benefit. Even if you have a history with those places, that doesn’t mean that they have the appropriate grace to continue to support anybody. That comes to mean that while there are definitely people who are generous and personable inside those places, not a peep when they push you out. And that does have the affect of isolating those people. In my case it reminded me that even when you give people chance after chance, the initial instincts are correct.
I feel sorry for those people who conditionally help. In the process of not even considering they demonstrated the lie inherent to their words. I can’t imagine why people would leave conditional support behind.

heyy thank you for answering my question regarding aging up (and down) characters, but yeah i get the whole part abt the prototypes thing ! u explained it perfectly
also i don’t think thinking abt yourself first makes someone a bad/not a good person, besides (not to get too philosophical or anything) but good and bad is pretty subjective anyways so 🤷🏽♀️ but yeah idk if i phrased it correctly at first but like i said writers and artists aren’t responsible for who consumes their work so if someone misinterprets their work it’s not their job to police themselves according to how ppl choose to take in their work — i totally agree with that,,
and yes ppl not being able to separate reality from fiction is again not the creator’s fault, i feel at the end of the day intention is what matters (i guess ?) like if the person aged up the character i guess it’s cuz they want to avoid the notion/implication that they’re into a minor cuz that’s weird obviously and they wanna practice what they like without contradicting their morals and what they stand for (idk if i phrased that correctly hopefully u understand💀) but yeah !
anyways thank you for giving me your 2 cents on this, i would say that was a productive discussion (?) and i think i understand that practice a bit better ! thank you mello (also i absolutely LOVE the big brother sukuna au SO MUCH i always look forward to seeing u talk abt it eeee)
take care and take breaks xxx

you are so kind it makes me want to throw up. i love u

hi long post anon… again😭
yes “rule” is more so used as “unspoken boundary”
and its a lil concerning anon didn’t pick that up when the explanation is right under that specific quote they picked😭
like have fun but don’t get caught up in thinking that just because you write something that is fiction that your muse is gonna wanna see it
not only is this just to be safe/respectful morally but even legally in terms of copywrite
thats why mainstream authors don’t want people to send them fanfic because the author may accidentally add from the fic subconsciously. Or coincidentally they added it because it was an idea that you two happened to think of at the same time before you ever sent the fic or the author opened your letter/email.
this leaves people to then be able to claim the author stole content whether intentional or not.
but also in terms of morals, it just says that you respect how an author views their relationship with THEIR work by not making your interpretations aware to the author. many authors work hard to establish their worlds/characters and may feel put off if they feel someone has mischaracterized their work or morphed it into something they don’t recognize within the canon of their universe. not to say that the fic isn’t good but essentially you dont come into someone else’s home and tell them how to decorate.
and in terms of real life people, it keeps your muse from seeing how you characterize them which may not be a reflection of their own self-actualization. and again it can mess with how people see themselves. or almost feel like they’re being harassed to reveal something about themselves because fics with certain characterizations are being thrown in their face. like “i know something about you, you should just say it already.”
its not to say that a nonbinary or autistic headcannon isn’t valid but sending it to someone may feel like projection to that very real person.
like jungkook may not take offense to being called nonbinary or trans but if thats not his actual lived experience, then sending him fics or making him aware that you’ve “headcannoned” him as such would be crossing a line.
its like saying “oh im going to disregard how and what you’ve being willing to share about yourself publicly until you possibly give in and out yourself.”
we saw this with the actor who plays the bisexual boyfriend in Heartstoppers. people -mainly other queer people- couldn’t separate the actor from his role and kept poking him to come out until he actually did. just because the internet was right about him being queer, doesn’t mean they were morally right for pressuring him.
its like receiving a “love” letter from an unreliable narrator in which they detail how you smiled at them once which meant you were “obviously” flirting; when in reality, you -the person who knows your own feelings- only smiled cuz you were just being nice. doesn’t mean you aren’t a lover; it just means that your love hasn’t been extent towards them.
if Jungkook is nonbinary, he’s is for himself; not to reaffirm some preconceived notion Army have. he exists outside our collective thought and doesn’t need fic to convince him of his identity or lack there of.
basically this rule is a “curtesy” that we should extend to ALL people. so unless they ask, don’t show your fanfic to your muse, friends.
ugh i keep ending up long winded😭🤦🏽♀️
but this has been fun discourse and hopefully it enlightens someone cuz that what social change is supposed to do💜
thank you for explaining a little deeper, my lovely.
literally i’d go missing and you’d never hear from me again if bts were to read anything i’ve written, it’s not made for them 🏃♀️🏃♀️ my worst nightmare is them perceiving me LMAO
and i think i can speak on behalf of most writers that what we write, either it be bts as gay or anything of the sort, is no way for us as writers to push the boys to come out or feel as though they should identify a certain way. as i’ve reiterated like a million times within the last couple of hours, it’s all a story, not there to project onto anyone in real life. i don’t sit in my bedroom and scheme up ways to force an agenda onto bts, i’m just trying to have a good time and little fun and if i’m doing something wrong then at least i’m aware now and can improve as a person
i’m not saying, as a straight fact any of the members are gay, or that they specifically go by they/them pronouns. if he does identify as anything above then that’s super cool too and he doesn’t owe me or anyone else anything, and that’s fine!! but me writing a non binary jungkook is in no way me saying that is how he should be or is in real life. idk why that point hasn’t come across for some people yet 🏃♀️
anyways, thank you again for taking the time to explain!! you definitely deserve a yummy snack after all this, and you’re super cool and very smart!! so thank you for taking the time out of your day to talk about such a kinda weird but very interesting topic with me 🫂

My explanation of shifting:
I am a very science oriented person here in my CR/OR. It took me months of lurking and seeing this community as an outsider to even consider the possibility. It is so much harder to shift for someone like me, who couldn’t rationalize that this was real for so long. So, for anyone who is interested in shifting but may have doubts, this is what my thought process is when it comes to all of this:
For me, shifting operates under Infinite Multiverse Theory. That we live in one universe, in one reality, in a vast sea of infinite possibilities. Famed scholars and scientists have posed this theory of infinite universes, and it has actual scientific backing. Every time you make a choice, another reality is created. So much so that the realities that exist are an infinite amount. Whatever you can imagine in your head, there simply has to be a universe where that is real. Because if the multiverse is infinite, then everything you want exists in some universe somewhere. You aren’t necessarily “creating” a universe when you script a dr, you are whittling down an infinite pool of possibilities into a more clear, narrow cluster of universes that fit your desires. There are infinite realities, therefore there are infinite realities that are just your exact dr, repeating over and over again on a loop. The human mind cannot truly comprehend infinity, all we can do is hope to be able to move ourselves along the flow of infinity.
Consciousness is another idea I had to wrap my head around. I believe I have a soul. I believe all people have souls. Souls are non-corporeal, not grounded by physical limitations. Heaven, in the Christian faith, is not a physical place as much as it is a separate plane of existence. That goes the same for many worldly religions. Therefore, you could make the argument that death in this cr is simply the soul shifting to another reality. In that, death is not an end, but a new beginning. A new beginning of an infinite series of universes you may possibly inhabit. Some people say they would never want to be immortal because they would get bored. But how could you get bored with infinity? If we have a soul that can travel through multiverses, why could we not do that same thing while we are alive? Slipping from one reality in the infinite universe to another, more specific universe with aspects that we ourselves choose. A more fulfilling way to live. Wouldn’t you like to live in a reality where racism doesn’t exist, where homophobia and transphobia aren’t even concepts? Where you are loved, where you don’t need to work, or where you got to spend just a little more time with a loved one? You don’t have to shift into a fictional universe, or for a fictional person. You can shift to a parallel reality where your life is almost the same, but things may have worked out better for you. You can shift to a reality where you became famous, or where you’re dating a celebrity from our current reality. Because the universe is infinite, shifting brings about infinite possibilities. You are not using your mind when you shift. You are using your soul.
