#im literally a fictional character

Honestly one of the biggest pieces of proof that jjk characters were born to shoujo forced to shonen(at least for me), is how last year I watched kaguya sama: love is war for the first time, right after watching jujutsu kaisen for the first time. After what happened to Junpei, Ishigami was basically my therapy character for a while there.
Like he had the character arc I wish Junpei had gotten. (And this isn't to say I'm salty about that. Just, rahhh I love Ishigami.)

No one is saying "fiction doesn't affect reality".
What most of us have said is this:
× "Fiction doesn't affect reality on a 1:1 ratio."
× "Fiction is not reality and should not be treated as such."
× And "Real life, living, breathing human beings matter far more than any fictional character ever will."
Notice how NONE of that says "Fiction doesn't affect reality. Full stop. In any situation. Ever."

it'd be really fucking nice to just feel and like things a normal amount. but nooooo my neurodivergent ass really gotta just fall madly and obsessively in love with fictional characters and then have unhealthy levels of emotions over them and how fucked up and sad their lives are

if sasuke was the main character then he probably would've been a LOT more sympathised with than he is now (which is to say rarely). like the narrative wouldn't even need to change to show his pains or 'his side of the story', bc it does that plenty. it's just that he is not the main character. and idk what it is about our human minds but we tend to sympathise with main characters automatically (unless ofc you go off the rockers insane and do something like obliterate almost everyone from the planet *cough* eren yeager *cough*)
an instance that comes to my mind where this does happen is with lelouch from code geass. while i don't agree with his character motivations, people generally do sympathise with him as he is the mc and as viewers we know he isn't inherently evil. sasuke's goal towards the end is slightly similar but ofc people love to hate him so they don't even try to understand where he is coming from.
my point is, most people while engaging with the naruto story don't read between the lines and so don't see how traumatised and in pain sasuke is and hence don't understand his character motivations. heck, they don't understand a single bit about him and so they automatically hate him, as he is supposedly going against the main character's goals.
which is really sad given all that he has been through.

When I obsess over a character, I unconsciously start acting like them. This can consist of me copying their mannerisms, habits, or personality I guess.
Well, right now, I am obsessing over Abed from Community, so I've been copying his mannerisms such like his head and eye movements (like when he tilts his head in thought, which is something I already do but now I'm doing it in a more similar way), and I find this funny because he also acts like characters from his favourite shows/movies.
Just two autistic folks pretending to be fictional characters

why do all of my favorite characters keep getting impaled both literally and metaphorically by a thousand sword blows representing the eternal weight of hatred and pain they must carry all by themselves why does this keep happening (this is about anthy himemiya and xie lian)

woah ok just found out about james somerton faking his suicide and posting hole on his "secret" alt account and i think it might be some sort of dark kink he has. Its the only explanation i can find of why he keeps doing this type of shit

i love dead characters. i love characters who were always dead, who die halfway through, who die in the end - characters who die and come back but in a way they're still dead bc their first life died with them & nothing will ever be the same & their coming back is a bandaid over a gaping wound & their own death haunts them-
#characters whose deaths haunts the narrative and the other characters#almost to the point where it feels like theyre still there#characters who continue to haunt everyone even After they come back#CHARACTER DEATH <3#when done Correctly its sooooooo good its literally the best i love it when characters die Well#when you rewatch/reread and Notice that they were doomed from the start. they were always going to die#AGH AGH AGH AGH#im going to be honest my Favorite trope is characters who die and come back#bc - again - when done well its SO!!! FUCKING!! GOOD!!!#maybe they come back the same but no one else is and That changes them too#or they come back Different and it just makes them haunt the narrative / other characters More Intensely#anyway their resurrection just makes it hurt worse bc theyre Back but now everyone knows what its like to live without them#and they will forever be haunted by that Knowing. and understanding that they could lose them again so so easily#the terror! the dread! the persevering grief!! looking at someone wholly alive and seeing a ghost! seeing everything thats Not There!#ohhhh also shoutout to characters who die without Actually dying#they never lose their life but who they are Changes So Suddenly that its like they died. the person they were died#and someone else kept breathing#slamming my face into a waaaaallllllllll#death in fiction death in fiction DEATH IN FICTION!!!!#oh also shoutout to characters who die without dying and then Actually die and both haunt everything#prime example: anakin motherfucking skywalker. KING of haunting the narrative#absolutely unprompted#what has me thinking about this? well im always thinking about it BUT#ahsoka episode 5. my own characters. potentially welcome home (we'll see we'll see...)#character death my beloved <3#there are so many ways to do it and do it Well <3#and it kills me inside that 'killing for shock value' and 'character dies and everyone moves on' are so common#its so lame! and annoying!!! like cmon!!! get a grip!#we need CONSEQUENCES we deserve FORESHADOWING#we need their death to haunt the narrative so hard that rereading/rewatching is one big reminder that They Will Die!!!

jelix gets so much hate and people act like it's truly problematic. It's so funny to me. you can hate its fans and not have to justify it with acting as if the ship itself is somehow offensive.
sorry y'all can't see the beauty in 70s repressed homosexual adultery and the consequences of it being tragedy. i forgot the kids these days haven't even seen brokeback mountain.

It's funny how people will say Princess Bubblegum deserved what Winter King did to her like she didn't get multiple episodes learning that being a psychotic controlling dictator for the sake of keeping her people safe isn't a good thing and that instead she deserves 100 years of madness because some nerd decided it would be easier to literally dump his problems on someone else

Ive been brewing a theory that people are obsessed with demanding media show them morally good things because we're replacing religion with tv shows and pop culture in general in our everyday life. From one story, one form of escapism that dictates our life and community seeking to another, humanity has always been the same. Or rather, there will always be forms of control to keep us occupied and distracted (at the same time it wouldn't be so effective if we weren't intrinsically wired to seek a distraction from reality, so i can't even blame people who "fall" for it. I think it's a natural instinct that helps people build a lens to approach reality through, to stay sane in a meaningless irrational world.)
