In my works, and other places, people have been asking me my opinion on Achilles attacking Troilus. I would just preface I’m not an expert on the Trojan War. I was sick the week we did the Iliad in high school and they made me perform as Odysseus when we read the Odyssey and i had no clue what was happening, but I am in the process of reading it now.

I think if you are studying these events from the perspective of the god Apollo, then Achilles kind of loses his Brad Pitt appeal that the movie Troy (which I have never seen) gives him. So if Achilles is your guy, stop reading. I’m thought dumping.

There is something wicked and powerful about Achilles k*lling and r*ping Apollo’s own son on his own altar in his own temple. Because that is the implication of the iconography and artwork.

Achilles drags Troilus by his hair to the altar of his father and the story doesn’t say if Achilles r*pes him, but it is implied. For one it talks about Achilles being overcome with lust for Troilus, who is the image of Apollo in human form. A beautiful golden haired, youth.

Not only is Troilus the son of Hecuba, he’s Apollo’s image. Sources say he is the most beautiful of the Trojans and Greeks. But he has been designated a fate where he represents the city of Troy. Hence the name Troilus. If he reaches adulthood, the city survives. If he dies as a youth, the city will fall.

Athena leads Achilles to Troilus to ensure his death and thus Troy’s fall. She does not account for HOW Achilles kills Troilus.

He sees Troilus on his horse, and he is overcome with lust. I think he probably offers Troilus some sort of deal, come sleep with me and I will let you and your sister go, but Troilus refuses and runs away and hides in his father’s temple. He is a little kid running to his father for help. But, Achilles breaks in, finds Troilus, and enraged kills him either on or near the altar of Apollo.

Troilus is the image of Apollo. He is his son. He is a prince of Troy. I think this is a tipping point for everything—the point of no return.

This seals Troy’s fate, but I think the reason for that are because of Troilus’s death. I think before this point there is the possibility there will be peace. I think Big Bro Hector would have sent Helen back, I think peace would have been sued for and Troy would stand. But Fate has to be accomplished. This is the point where Troy no longer gives a damn—their prince has been m*rdered and r*ped on the altar of their chief god. Priam is upset because he loved Troilus as his own son, and he calls Achilles a child-slaughterer after that. Hecuba is besides herself, and Hector wants to kill Achilles. I think this is the point where they decide that, yes, they are going to die fighting this war, but they have a GOOD REASON to. It’s not about Paris and Helen and Aphrodite and a dumb apple. It’s about a boy being murdered.

But Apollo, Apollo is now vengeance. He is acting as an arm of fate. He’s already peeved at Achilles, who had killed another son Tenes. (A different story about Achilles r*ping someone)

I said this to one of my commenters—an altar is a god’s dinner table. Apollo’s hands are tied by something—either Fate or Thetis or his Father, and he cannot stop Achilles who is savagely attacking his own son on his own table. He has to watch, has to sit there and taste his own son’s blood in his mouth, watch him brutally die.

Achilles’s fate is sealed. Apollo is going to kill Achilles. It’s just nine years later.

In the art, Thetis, Athena, Apollo and Hermes are in the background of this event. Athena and Thetis as support of Achilles, but it makes me curious what Hermes is doing there. Is he holding Apollo back? Has Thetis begged Zeus for Achilles life? Athena regretfully watching as she accomplishes her plan only to realize WHY it worked?

I think in this way you can fashion the Trojan War as a direct conflict between Apollo and Achilles. Everything else is going on around it, but at the heart of it, is Apollo and Achilles. Apollo waiting for his father and the fates to give him the go ahead because Achilles will die, and Apollo is going to take away everything from him in the process. Briseis, Patroclus, and then he’s going to take his life.

Achilles is the villain in Apollo’s story. He’s invulnerable, he’s circumventing fate, he r*pes anything under his power, he disrespects the gods. He is a lesson in what men do when no one can stop them, and the most powerful thing is that the Father wins. He finds and kills his son’s murderer even after all the roadblocks in his way.

Troy is a revenge story, and if I ever get to writing it in my series, it’s going to be written like a revenge story.

Before i color i decide where the light is coming from, so I’d know what im doing with light and shadows

It’s actually just 2 easy steps, for me atleast

I’d say my shading&lighting is kinda lazy..

I know it hard to see it, so how about we actually use it on a model or two

Examples:

I used blue and yellow as an example to show what it looks like with warm and cool colors :p

You can see how it changes when you add shading and lighting (tho you cant see the light that much…)

For blue i gave him for shading analogues colors that means the colors are neighbors on the color wheel, the same with yellow.

Its good to know a bit of color theory! It can help! (Im also learning)

hi! honestly, I think lighting a candle and praying would be a great way to start!

you dont need all the fancy materials to worship gods n' all. I also think getting an offering would be a good idea! could be something small

(whenever I want to make an offering, since I don't have a proper altar, I get the gods a fancy-ish glass and put some water in it, and set it off to the side for 10-20 minutes. you could try something like that! ive done that with juice too, but water's the most accessible for me)

you could also ask for a sign while praying/lighting a candle/offering something. I do that to ask for their approval !

I genuinely believe that a lot of "teenage angst" that parents talk about is really a kid who has had their pain/struggles dismissed one too many times

And the parent might not even think they are being dismissive

Because with small children a lot of what you're doing is reassurance because a lot of a small child's worries can be solved by giving that reassurance. The "you can do it!" Works for a lot of little kid problems

And it's easy to just keep reassurance as your go to response

Except a teenager knows that their situation is temporary or small in the grand scheme of things but it's their life right now and they are struggling and they want validation and support not just reassurance that "it will be okay"

They want someone to listen and say "yeah that does suck. I'm sorry you're dealing with that. Being a teenager is really fucking difficult sometimes" and of course they want you to fight in their corner when you can

But sometimes being a teenager is just overwhelming and scary and they just need someone to say "yeah it is. I went through shit too at that age. I totally get it"

But this whole narrative about teens being over dramatic and explode for no reason hides this

Hey yall idk if this is too radical but i just have shit to say and i wanna rant. So we had an assignment in geography and we had to like compare a LDC and a MDC i chose south sudan and i dont remember the other one, i think it started with an L. Sorry thats not important about this i got distracted. So anyway, I did some googling for the assugnment and i found out that a big reason people in sudan have such a short life expectancy is because they dont have access to healthcare and they get sick. That is so wild to me. Because the big source my teacher gave us to choose the countries WAS THE UN. Like??? Isnt it like half their job to help these people?? United Nations more like Useless nations haha. But what do i know, i dont know the inner workings of the UN. So then i got thinking. What about the U.S.? What about Britain? What about all thw big countries with more than enough money to help a ton of people? Maybe they could reallocate the funds theyre using to bomb the middle east and maybe help people???? OR MAYBE, they could use it to help their own people, like homeless people and provide food and build affordable housing maybe. Maybe they could do that instead of voting AGAINST making food a a human right AMERICA. OR. MAYBE DO BOTH. THEY ARE GIVING SO MUCH MONEY AWAY TO A COUNTRY ACTIVELY COMMITTING A GENOCIDE THEY COULD DO BOTH. THEY COULD HELP OTHER COUNTRIES AND THEIR OWN. But they wont. Fanart of zhongli and Venti are always amusing to me. Not for what you think, though-

Alot of the time, they are depicted drinking wine. Especially venti. however, the wine is always red.

But both dandelion and osmethus are white wines!

Anyway, I have some thoughts about the two wines zhongli and venti are associated with so sit tight if you want to:

As I said, both osmenthus and dandelion wine are white wines. This is pretty common with wines made of flowers since berry's, fruits and currents is what gives any kind of red wine its colour.

Anyway-

Osmenthus wine is associated with the moon festival and is pretty mellow and sweet. Its like a peach wine, really mild. It actually smells more than it tastes. Like, it's not weird to sit with a glass and sniff it more than you drink it.

Dandelion wine is also sweet. Unlike osmenthus which could kinda be compared to how rice wine is sweet (yknow like, sorta sugery??), dandelion wine is more like honey sweet and much stronger. Taste whise and in alcahol content. Its also, more notably, slightly bitter and gets more bitter the longer its been aged. Its also not associated with any festivals. It started out as a poor man's wine in Europe since dandilions will grow basically anywhere.

The intresting thing here is the associations and contrasts. Osmenthus wine is kinda a pain in the ass to make cus you gotta distill it and it's usually based with some other alcahol like honey wine or rice wine. Ya gotta pay attention to it and its real easy to fuck it up.

Dandilion wine was a porpers wine for a reson. Its like. Stupid easy to make. It's so easy I've made it. You legit just throw it all in a pot and sick it in a dark corner for two years. The biggest challenge to it is patience.

They also are weirdly the same but diffrent? Like. There both flower wines but osmenthus, although a pretty hardy flower and not brilliantly rare, isn't very common. Like, your probably not gonna just find it in your garden. You'd have to go out and buy it or search for it. Dandilions as a flower, however, are so common there treated as a pest. Called a weed. So common people want less of them.

There both sweet but osmenthus wine is subtle and barely really tastes at all. Dandilion wine has a really strong flavour and is also a little bitter. More so as it ages and I JUST-

Like the time to!! You only brew osmenthus wine for, like, 3 days. Then it needs about 6 months in the bottle before you crack it. You brew dandilion wine a week before you bottle it, alteast! And people recommend not to open it for two years!! A T L E A S T.

This is only one bad experience. But it cannot color your future experiences. My best advice is to listen to your gut. When you are in tune with the right person, you may not feel butterflies or anxiousness or feel that die hard passion that TV likes to lie about. The right person? Will make you feel safe. You will feel calm around this person. Your worries will melt away because his/her/their priority is to put you at ease. They will listen to you. They will communicate with you.
