1. Introduce new character that’s a threat or antagonist

2. Have them disappear for episodes and never be mentioned by the main characters or acknowledged, not affecting the main narrative at all.

3. Insert Stolitz episode or filler episode with the characters the exact same and never changing or adapting

4. Bring said antagonistic character back in the most underwhelming way possible

Yep, It's Just Practically Official The Makers Just See Octavia As Manipulative Emotional Tool To Make Stolas Look Good And Disregard Her When She Gets In The Way Of Their Treasured Ship

This is supposed to be a joke, but in execution we all now Octavia at this point is just a tool to make Stolas look like a "good" dad when in practice he's putting Blitzo over her so much that it's not funny. Wasn't one of Octavia's fears is that her father will abandon her in order to pursue Blitzo.

With that comment that Brandon Rogers did it just confirms to me that at this point they are putting Stolitz so much over everything else that yes even Octavia is seen as an obstacle even though a parent's child should be more important than their booty call. And the fandom and the creators prioritize the other way around.

Seriously, in "Seeing Stars" we see him again neglect her when she wanted to keep his promise to see the stars. Also despite saying it's important to find her he slows down to watch his boy toy perform. In other words, he's all false words until next time when he breaks a promise or continues to be a lackluster dad. But we are supposed to give him slack because he's supposed to be trying hard or again invoking Stella in order to make him look good. Boy can barely do the bare minimum for his daughter without messing up and looking like a selfish pos.

And people want to point to this line as a sign of how much he loves Octavia, but again like everything else it's emotional manipulative bs when you realize in practice he has all of the power and could more easily break up. Sure, it would have be a shock to a young child but since Octavia is born he could have just packed up and kicked her ass rather than wallow in his self-pity while finally getting with his imp toy. Stella was made an obstacle from the start so that we would feel less sorry when he was cheating on her with Blitzo. However, it gets less sympathetic when we see how it affects Octavia and it makes him come across as a selfish asshole. At first the first season was condemning them, but nope season 2 basically makes him sad misunderstood woobie who can't do no wrong including ignore his daughter in favor of focusing on Blitzo.

It's funny that Loona isn't joked as an obstacle to Stolitz like Octavia is. It's probably because Octavia grew up with a married family and again doesn't like ramifications that come with the changes. One of them includes the fact that her father only pays attention to his crush while putting her on the backburner. And again despite the fandom saying Octavia and Blitzo would get along this joke panders to the idea that squashes it if Blitzo sees her as an obstacle to their relationship. And you know if it was the other way around Blitzo would be furious anyone would see Looney as an obstacle. And so would Stolas, but we know that in actual practice he would choose prioritizing Blitzo over his daughter and the narrative will say other wise.

stolitz rant/analysis because i keep seeing people mischaracterize them and i’m sick of it and need to let it out :)

every time someone mischaracterizes either blitzø or stolas an angel dies</3

“blitzø is toxic and doesn't care about stolas” “stolas should not have hid himself at ozzie’s he made blitz feel bad” just say you don’t understand nuance and gray characters!

yes, they are flawed and yes, they have both made mistakes, but neither is more at fault than the other in this situation. they are two deeply hurt people, who try to cope and avoid pain in different ways.

blitzø has been left by the people he loves plenty of times (some in which he was at fault) so he doesn’t want to get attached to someone in case that happens again.

mix that with the circumstances of his relationship with stolas, which started as a transactional one with his company’s longevity on the line, and the difference in status between them, of course he will translate stolas’ affections as him just wanting to get fucked by ‘the lower class’ (as blitz puts it in s02ep6).

and in spite of all this, somewhere in his heart blitz already know that the prince is, after all, just a person; and to some extent he is aware that stolas cares for him beyond their deal.

stolas instead has been lonely his entire life, with parents that don’t care about him and a wife he (despite being gay!) was forced to marry- one that has also abused him the entirety of their marriage.

the only solace he gets for the longest time is his daughter, who he adores with entire being, no matter the circumstances in which she was conceived (he was a kid himself when she was born- he was 19! nineteen!! he gave up his life and freedom because his family wanted a heir!)

so when blitzø re-enters his life after 20+ years, he jumps at the chance of a distraction, a little pocket of happiness after a life of neglect. he doesn’t need to be prince stolas of the ars goetia with the imp, he can just be stolas.

a stolas who can be finally true to himself with his sexuality, his personality, his hobbies and so much more because blitz doesn’t care for royalty bs!

admittedly, the way stolas behaved in the beginning wasn’t ideal, and it was partially why blitz feels used, but he understands that later on and tries to do better. he finds another way for blitzø to get to the human world, one that doesn’t put stolas at an unfair advantage.

ozzie’s is just the cherry in top, the climax of an entire season worth of miscommunication and bottled up feelings!! yes, it was fucked up of blitzø to invite stolas just as an excuse to spy on moxxie and millie, and yes, stolas covering himself definitely didn’t leave a good impression (for lack of better wording) on blitzø, but they were both hurt in the end and there’s no definite/sole wrongdoer here.

blitz isn’t a terrible motherfucker that hurts everything that touches and stolas isn’t a ruthless pos that only cares about getting off (as some might consider them to be apparently).

they are two people who desperately need to talk to each other and then work on themselves so that their relationship can flourish- because despite their flaws and their fuck-ups, there is care and there can be so much good, even if it is currently covered by the hurt.

Helluva Rewrite: Moxxie

A big thing with Moxxie was just me wanting him to not look like a butler. I don’t know what it is with Viv and men in suits, but I'm not a fan. To keep his vest from blending into his pants, I untucked a bit of his undershirt. I want each member of IMP to stand out visually from one another (because all imps literally look related to some degree lol) so I gave Moxxie green in his color palette to contrast the orangish red tone I gave his skin. I also think green eyes will help him stand out very nicely from the group. Instead of striped I put gold rings on his tail and gave him a couple rings on his fingers because greed and gold. Since Viv loves bowties, I let Mox keep his but made it droopy because I think it’s cuter. Originally, I was going to keep his coattails, but I feel like with the shape of his legs it just muddies his silhouette. 

With Moxxie there isn’t much about his character I have to gripe about or want to change. He’s a skilled gunman with knowledge of the subject and history of guns. Cool, now for that, I’m working in his greed traits and decided that he outright hoards guns (since viv wants to claim imps hoard things). Moxxie has a vast collection and is always keeping them nice and spiffy. 

Now one thing I don’t like about Moxxie is his insecurity. Moreso the fact that it’s constantly being played up, like in Unhappy Campers where he’s like a crotchety old woman going through menopause because his wife is more popular than him. At that point it’s just stupid for the sake of drama. Since I made Millie the insecure one, I’m going to play up Moxxie’s straight man status. 

Moxxie is going to be the level headed cool sniper type I suppose. He’s not going to be as expression as Millie, the blue oni to her red in a sense. I think the comedy of that could be when something does make him lose his composure (I think I'll draw up a redone scene as an example) like Millie’s parents outright disliking him or Striker singing about how he sucks and should go fuck himself. I like the idea that because of his childhood as the son of an abusive mob boss father he’s learned to shove bad feelings down rather than express them outright. This doesn’t mean I want him to be a stone faced rock. No, I mostly just want him to express surface level exasperation and frustration with Blitzø’s antics (like his big “WHAT?” when Blitz mentions he hired Strikker) 

So an example of this could be Striker’s song. After he tells Moxxie to go fuck himself, a close shot of Moxxie’s face shows it twitching. He adjusts his glasses, stands up, and excuses himself. (Millie recognizes that this is bad because she knows him and follows) But she loses him in Striker’s fangirl crowd. Moxxie will be visibly upset as he climbs the stairs before hearing Millie calling for him and regaining his composure – until he notices the glow coming from Striker’s room that catches his attention. 

So I don’t want this Moxxie to be a straight-faced ass, just a more composed character. 

Back to his insecurity real quick! Mozzie is a trained assassin but his is not physically strong enough to fight hand to hand. This is a weak spot for him because his father constantly shat all over him growing up and would literally smack him around and Moxxie was (in his own mind) too physically weak to stop it from happening. 

As to how he met Blitzo... well in this I don’t want the bs jail in hell bit because there has been no justifiable ass pulls by Viv or the team. Idk I'm having trouble. Maybe they met through Millie? Like Moxxie meets Millie doing something and is like ‘holy shit I love this chick fuck you dad I'm out.’ 

Idk that’s what I'm going with I'll fix it later this took way too long to do and i'll still gotta do Blitzo and Stolas and maybe the other characters and then maybe rework season one idk i'll focus on just doing Blitzo and reworking my Loona again

no but fr it's actually kinda sad - if the show actually wanted to have a nuanced take on abuse with a believably written abuser, Stolas is the closest they've ever come to doing it successfully - he's not a shrieking monster every time he's onscreen, he has consistent motivations, and he's also a terrible, terrible person:

he's a sexual abuser & exploitative. he uses his book and Blitzo's need to keep his job to exploit sex out of him every month

he's abusive. both to Blitzo and his imp servant. he squeezes the life out of his imp servant and ignores the black eye Stella gave him.

he's manipulative. he waits until Blitzo has used the book for some time & is in imminent danger to propose the deal. he expects sex as a reward for rescuing Blitzo then wonders why Blitzo is apathetic towards him

he's selfish & terrible at reading emotional cues. he assumes everyone else is fine doing what he wants until they physically yell at him, storm off or break down in tears

he wants and sometimes tries to be a good dad but is neglectful. he blames Blitzo for Via going missing when he was the one who caused her to flee the house (something he apparently didn't even notice until Blitzo called him?), he prioritizes Blitzo (flirting and having sex with him, that is) over her constantly

he's classist. he talks down to, demeans and fetishizes imps. the ones he doesn't he doesn't even notice exist (M&M).

he's incapable of admitting fault. he's gone from apologizing to Via for the mess his adultery made to claiming there was no betrayal at all. the next ep is likely to be chock full of him blaming Blitzo for leading him on even though Blitzo has done nothing but maintain their deal (only exception being Ozzie's, which was still within the confines of their deal, so limited sympathy for Stolas there tbh). his 'what have I done?' look after Ozzie's lasted all of five minutes before he went back to blaming Blitzo in 'Stolas Sings'

he's deluded. he somehow thought Blitzo wanted a relationship with him despite having forced him into what's essentially sexual slavery and then called it a 'lie' when Blitzo shut him down over it

he's hypocritical. he calls Stella a bitch to Via's face in the same scene he claims he isn't turning her against her mother. he uses Via as an excuse for not breaking up the marriage sooner even though his marriage to Stella was so woeful his daughter probably would have been better off out of that environment

he's incapable of showing empathy. his reaction to Blitzo's panic attack is to sexualize him some more. he's never shown signs of even trying to relate to Blitzo, and bumped into his daughter without even noticing she was there in Seeing Stars

he ignores people's feelings. Blitzo rejects his flirting, brushes him off multiple times and gets annoyed at Stolas calling him petnames. Stolas still sexualizes him into s2 and the most he's managed is calling him by his proper name. it took him until Blitzo snapped at him for him to notice Blitzo isn't smiling in any of his phone pictures

he can't understand what he's done wrong when told bluntly & directly what the problem is. his text "apology" reeks of "I'm sorry you were offended", not "I'm sorry for what I did wrong"

he has a victim complex. he's a powerful prince but simultaneously passive and unwilling to take steps to make life better for himself. he is the centre of his own universe

he's emotionally dependent. his happiness is dependent on Blitzo loving him back

if the show had just leant into that - and Blitzo slowly realizing just who he was dealing with - it could have been cathartic to see the deal broken. instead it's gonna be more victim blaming BS

We joke about it being The Stolitz Show, but Victim Blaming BS Show is just as fitting.

About the music video that HB released… it was manipulative, “feel bad for the sexual extortionist” BS.

I liked the VA’s singing and the animation, not to mention the imp butler graced us with our presence!

i refuse to acknowledge viv’s patreon/twitter like canon of “ozzie never had feelings ever until fizz bc fizz is that speshul” and instead play into his string of failed relationships with sarah, lilith, and make some bs up for solomon too for ✨spice✨. then he can get with fizz and have the spirit of love return to him or something. or maybe even another character. i enjoy fizzarozzie but some of your posts got me thinking of an au where fizz either leaves him for blitzo or dies, and ozzie meets someone new and has conflicting feelings about it

Viv that would be kinda silly and childish. Not to mention recycling Stolas’ story. But. To be fair Twitter likes aren’t always canonised but still.

Asmodeus is thousands of years old. Has met millions of people. It would make sooo much better sense if he was hurt by a failed relationship and that’s why he resents love. Or if he saw his past lovers outlive him and leave, causing him to avoid attachments but when he does, he gets too protective and feels very insecure.

The Sarah and Lilith stories are a perfect opportunity to make Ozzie have some depth, past pain, and have moments where he is a bad person because he is a sin, hello?

I hate to think of Fizz dying and honestly prefer a mature scenario where Fizz sits him down after a while when problems have been building up for a long time, and they talk, not sing or dance, or cry dramatically, but talk.

I wrote this for my fic Trouble in Rented Paradise but here heck it, I’ll spoil some of the breakup I wrote:

I'm getting way too much enjoyment watching how some of Helluva Boss fandom is raving over the popular current theory that stolas is going to die in the series.  

Because of the Oops episode and how the skull and cross bones in the smoke clock landed on Stolas and other stuff  

I.e.  

Having imp assasins in LooLoo Land 

Stella  

Striker  

His lullaby saying that when he’s gone Octavia will be ok and that today could be his last (I could go on a whole tangent about that lullaby it's so good)

I'm not saying I want stolas to die but am I also saying it would be funny to watch the fandom go up in flames about it?

In fact I hope stolas doesn’t die and mostly I don’t think stolas is going to die at all frankly. I highly dout the writers/viv/whoever is going to actually kill off stolas mostly because like any time stolas is in danger its so underminded like- ok LooLoo land is mostly a joke (good joke too I like the end where Stolas turns the imp guy into stone good pay off), Stella played for laughs beacues shes making the hit right in front stolas and it doesn’t get paid off till the next season which is fine the seasons are short, Western Energy he was fine like an episode later.  

If home boy cant be hospitalized for more than one episode he isn't dying  

Granted I will allow some leeway as we don’t know how much time has passed since Western Energy to Oops but it- I don’t think stab wounds and broken arms heal that fast regardless of that :/ if I'm being honest especially if it was a holy weapon just saying.  

Even if he did die that brings up a lot of questions like what happens to demons when they die? Are all demons immortal and can only die due to physical damage? are Asmodeus and Beelzebub going to outlive Fizz and Vortex if imps and hellhounds/other demons aren't immortal. Were the 7 deathly sins ever babies like everyone else? If demons are immortal and can live forever and the Ars Goitias can only be killed by angelic weapons that are hard to get, I'm assuming, why do, they need to have children or heirs? Why even have children at all? If angelic weapons can kill demons do demonic weapons exist and can they kill angels or other holy beings?

there's a very the very real outcome of them bringing stolas back through some magical demonic bs anyway so like it really won't matter. They're not going to have Stolas bite the dust permanently and if they are... respect honestly (the balls frankly).  

People will cry, I'll laugh because I'm heartless, he’ll be like resurrected or something, and everyone will be happy or mad idk.    

Like it's one thing for Millie to get hurt in the other episodes because there wasn’t a major plot point you know? (and she’s not important) There was no lingering scene on it with sad music. In when stolas got hurt it was this big thing and for him to just be like fine an episode later is like what? How are you going to have this big emotional climax with no emotional orgasm (sorry) afterwards. And like no I'm not letting this go what the heck? You had the whole fandom screeching about Blizto going to sloth just to do nothing with it and put a twist about Barbie and then also have stolas be perfectly fine and dandy the next episode afterwards. Are there no stakes in this show? Like I get that Helluva Boss wasn’t planned in the beginning but like come on... When Viv approves of the episodes does she look back at the other episodes? Is she even there? Is she ok? Is she and everyone else seeing a bigger picture that I'm not? Has she sat down and watched Helluva Boss from the very beginning and watched them from episode one to now? I mean really not just a once over to send it off to youtube I mean really took a good and hard look at the episodes? The way they mix episodic, and story is really messing with me I'm going to go back and watch all the episodes from the beginning just to make sure it’s not me.

"Frick!" You curse as you are dragged out.

"HEY NumbNuts! You Dare Hurt Him and I will have your balls on a pike!" You hear a voice and then are moved over to someone's shoulder.

In a few moments, you are sat in a chair and the sack tore off. You wince and close your eyes at the bright lights.

"Shit..." You his out.

"Ah there he is, the pretty little doll~" You hear and open your eyes slowly to see an imp. "Well, maybe not so little. You are one tall mother Fricker."

"What the hell do you want with me?" You ask him.

"Aint it obvious doll face?" He asks. "You are gonna be my lover, ya hear if you don't well... I know where your ma and pa live. I know where all your friends and ex-lovers live. If you turn my love down, I will kill them all. I will make you watch as I do it and then I will frick you over their corpses. So what do you say doll?"

"I- Okay I am yours." You say not really having a choice.

"Good girl." He says and then pulls you down to his height kissing you deeply. "You are mine now you hear~ Only I can do anything with you."

You nod your head and he smirks.

"Take my doll up to his room, get him ready for tonight, I am going to show him, just how much I can break a tall man like him down~"

You are moved up to a different room and then told to shave and get dressed in a male thong. You were now his and he was going to make you his tonight!

Ukefication Of Stolas

Just as many people said that Vivziepop's writing is kind of like the worst of fanfiction tropes, I think one trope in particular is being invoked with Stolas is the Ukefication. It's a term where a character is devolved into a vulnerable and emotional character so they can be submissive to their partner and look more pitiful so you can feel sympathy for them and that they seek comfort in his significant other. A trait that can be seen with Stolas as the show goes on.

Let's go back to the pilot where although he's obsessed with Blitzo, he also can make demands of him and presents himself as someone who has his own agenda other than sex. He actually lives up to the persona of a demon lord and is unapologetic about his depravity. He's a guy who feels like he could be an antagonist if Blitzo gets on his bad side. The guy is truly someone who you should have a bit of fear for.

In the first episode, we do still see him more softer in voice but at the same time there is hint of that devious manipulator who can use Blitzo's situation to exchange more sex out of him. Noticeably, this would be the last time we see hints of his pilot immorality here. Mostly because of the questionable consent of the relationship. But again showing how he holds the cards in the relationship and Blitzo has to navigate his way to say in his favors.

Even though Stolas called in for protection from imp, it was merely an excuse to get close to Blitzo and he showed what he was capable of taking care of himself. It again shows that Stolas is a being capable of doing stuff himself but enjoys Blitzo's company due to his lusting over him.

Seriously, "Truth Seekers" we blatantly see Stolas being the one calling the shots and chaining Blitzo up. trying to show us that he feels trapped in this relationship even if later it would be shown he was the one who got it in Stolas' head they were a item. But again this demonstrates how unequal it feels and how everything seems to be out of his hand

In that same episode, we also see how much of a monster Stolas can be and that even though he's just a prince he still outmatches DHORKS who are slaughtered without any mercy.

I think where the shift happens is in the "Circus" where the established backstory of them being childhood friends was shown and we get more bad slash fanfiction tropes at us. He's also made way younger from an ancient demon who was a fallen angel to just a millennial parent in hell years. And we got this scene where Blitzo plays dominant seducer in order to get the book. We see Stolas be reluctant to sleep with him but gradually gets more into it when he misinterprets his move as being sexually enthusiastic. This is contrast as said before how Blitzo felt trapped when in reality he was the one who got the ball rolling and it shaves off the feeling of domination he previously was tormented by. A

Also the "Circus" finally confirmed Stella had always been abusive and still was in his life because she wanted to torment him. And even though it would have been interesting for her character showing she was always bad, the way they portray it is just so boing that it feels more like derailed characterization in a fanfiction rather than any smart writing. And again it feels like the childhood friend thing just to make Stolas more sympathetic and woobify him due to fans noticing how crappy he comes off as. It's also made to make Stolitz look better in comparison and make him into this sad owl man who just needs someone like Blitzo to finally accept him.

This ukefication can also be seen in how in "Seeing Stars" he mentions how weak he is in the human world when we previously saw him practically at full power without the grimoire and it comes off more of an excuse to make him seem less of a powerhouse and more of a vulnerable person to "relate" to and for him to fawn over Blitzo as he does stuff.

Again in Western Energy they pull out any bs excuse in order to make him be in danger from Striker. This gets annoying that even if he's not one hundred percent based the actual Stolas it again is annoying see someone named after a demon lord be such a wimp in order to damsel him in the episode. And again even more embarrassing it's from one of the lower class demands like an imp. I know they said it's' blessed ropes but you would think that imp would be affected handling that as well if they weren't careful. And even then it should be more difficult taking on a goetia which are said to be very dangerous demons in demonology.

Finally we get Stolas in the last scene after being badly hurt by Striker he has numerous injuries from being stabbed and beaten up. Again he really looks not like the Demon Lord in the pilot but more like those slash doujins you see online. He really was wussified for this ship and to make him into this big teddy bear the fans can feel sorry for even though we know he's capable. And again make Blitzo feel sorry for not being there when was kidnapped.

Overall, as season two has gone on we really see how wussified/ukeficated Stolas has become. He not only has that air of being a great demon to not mess with, but just this more pitiful puppy that is pampered by the creator because of their favored ship. She wants to sell this by making Stolas this poor baby that can't do wrong and is weaker and vulnerable than he looks. It really is sad how a character with so much character is taken down to indulge in an obnoxious romance.
