Believing that trans people afab benefit from transmisogyny as a system is absolutely wild. Having privileges from not being the main target of it is one thing. But you really think that if the systems making up transmisogyny (transphobia, sexism, racism, and white cisheteropatriarchy in general) went away, things would be worse for me as a transmasc instead of better? We're in this fight together. Trans people can weaponize transphobia against each other, but we are not each other's oppressors. We did not build this system and it is not good for us. Direct your rightful anger at perisex cis people; otherwise, you're not punching up, you're just punching.

hey since ASAB terms are sort of becoming the next "biological (fe)male". reminder that ASAB terms simply describe what was observed and assigned by someone else when you were born. It is/was your Legal Sex. not everyone who was AMAB is a "biological male". or vice versa.

use more terms that don't exclude people! say perisex/dyadic! there's even alternative single-word terms that mean "biological (fe)male!": say müllerian! say wolffian!

expand your queer vocabulary to better describe various experiences!!! synonyms exist for a reason!! just start Looking Shit Up I promise it's so much fun! I love learning!!!!!!

Intersexism is NOT misplaced transphobia.

The backlash we’re witnessing against intersex athletes is not because people misunderstand and think they’re trans. It’s that people hate intersex people as genetic aberrations that should be extinguished in one way or another in order to uphold the sex binary which DOESNT EXIST.

The hatred and violence against intersex people, while certainly going hand-in-hand with transphobia in many regards, is still wholly unique to intersex individuals. And that violence extends beyond just forced surgeries on infants. While that’s a huge issue and it’s great people are talking about it, intersex kids and adults also face medical violence, from being forced into hormone therapies they don’t want/need, to being misdiagnosed and made ill through treatments which don’t accommodate for non-perisex endocrine systems, to being literally assaulted by doctors to shame them for the way their bodies naturally exist.

I’m literally begging you all, as a perisex binary trans person, to give a fuck about our intersex siblings and fight for them. But most importantly TO LISTEN. GOD. So many of us perisex trans people are both uneducated and so prejudiced against intersex people and it’s disgusting. And if you’re especially offended by that statement, then redirect that offense towards educating yourself and others

I fucking hate when TERFs use David Remier as an example of "evil TRAs" when, no, actually, it was the binarist beliefs that you share that influenced the doctor to preform IGM -- not a "sex change" or "gender-affirming surgery", intersex genital mutilation -- on a kid, because they believed that you could only be happy if you had the ability to have heterosexual sex. Fuck off.

Sorry for the minirant, I was just reading about it and it pissed me off as an intersex person, and it pissed me off even more that TERFs use this case as an example of "evil TRAs" instead of the very real intersexism within the medical industry.

I talk a lot about how gay I am and how much I love gay stuff but I also want to be clear- straight/het intersex folks, straight/het trans folks, and straight/het aro/ace folks are part of pride to me. You’re part of my community and you’re welcome here. Closeted and questioning people too, whatever your identity is, you don’t need to be visibly queer or know your label to have a place here.

To get a proper picture of modern trans oppression, you need to recognize the ways trans issues have varied across history and still vary heavily across places. I made a post the other day about how things have changed in my country for trans people over the past 50-100 years, but it was incredibly US-centric, a huge issue when trans discussions on here tend to be western-centric in general.

I feel most folks recognize that where things are bad for queer people generally, they're terrible for trans women and similar groups. It's illegal to be queer in one-third of all UN member countries, and in 13 cross-dressing is explicitly criminalized. Such laws have often targeted transfeminine expression specifically. And of course, Trans Rights as we know them (such as access to medical transition, ability to change gender markers, anti-discrimination laws) are a struggle in even relatively accepting countries; there are plenty of trans and other gender non-normative folks that don't have access to the most basic rights I do as a trans person in the United States. Problems trans folks face here, like trans women being forced into sex work, are even more prevalent and severe elsewhere in the world.

But fewer people seem to recognize that where things are bad for cis women, they're terrible for trans men and similar groups. There are so many places where those considered women are put under much heavier appearance and behavior restrictions than here and I can guess that trying to undergo any amount of masculine transition would not turn out well for them. Where I live, we may have gotten better than 50 years ago about not treating women as babymaking property, but there are 46 countries where marital rape is not a crime, while 40% of folks globally live under restrictive abortion laws. I know forced pregnancy as a form of controlling and detransitioning trans men and mascs happens enough where I live, and I cannot imagine what it would be like to live a transmasculine life under these conditions. I'm privileged by where I was born, and hope to find more stories of trans and gnc lives in other places. If anyone has any stories to share or somewhere to point folks towards to educate ourselves, it would be incredibly welcomed and appreciated.

you know, not being transmasc or transfem with all of the community infighting and discourse going on right now is a really interesting experience. no matter what you do, though, people will always try to group you into one of those two categories.

It's so interesting and so exceedingly frustrating how agab is being utilized now within the queer community as a way to isolate and sort nonbinary and genderqueer folks into binary boxes that determine their moral purity levels, and their authority to do and write and exist.

The way nonbinary writers are being put under accusation of fetishizing gay men while their AGAB is continually brought up in a way that feels like queer-space-approved misgendering.

The way feminist circles that are supposedly trans-inclusive will use the word AFAB in a way that implicitly but intentionally isolates nonbinary people who aren't AFAB from joining. It's for women*.

The way the language is already flawed and leaves out intersex folks from the conversations while focusing on a binary of sex that isn't truthful.

The constant obsessing over whether someone is AFAB or AMAB and whether or not that gives them the privilege to join, do, write, or be present in certain spaces really really concerns me. How are we supposed to dismantle a binary system of gender if we can't even move past forcibly assigning and focusing on people's genders assigned at birth?

Not sure how many people this is gonna reach, but this is something I'm really curious about, because I've seen quite a few trans/nonbinary TAD fans, but I don't know if that's just content/people getting pushed towards me and doesn't represent the community as a whole.
