dating hc's with dr. ratio, aventurine + blade!
headcanons about what these hsr men do in a relationship witth you <3
cw: x reader, gn! reader (no physical descriptions), mostly fluff, sfw, headcanon style
notes: hsr brainrot⊠ahahaha... i hope i have a fairly good grasp on these characters and wrote them well.Â
wc: ~1050 words, around 350 words per character. all under the cut!
feel free to drop an ask or to add on to my thoughts! likes + rbs are appreciated <3

â Dr. Ratio:
He likes parallel play, or being alone together with you. He works on his own projects, like grading papers or writing a new thesis while youâre doing your own thing, like playing video games or reading. Occasionally, he might ask you for your input, such as ideas about his next thesis or what pose he should sculpt himself into next.Â
He has a spare desk and chair for you in his office. You can choose to do work or entertain yourself there when you visit him and heâs still teaching a lecture, but feel free to take a nap on the plush sofa he bought just for you.Â
He will nag you about your health but in an annoyingly endearing way. He fusses over you, telling you about appropriate attire for todayâs weather, offering you an umbrella, and reminding you to drink water.Â
He entertains all your ideas, no matter how silly or illogical. Heâll hear you out on anything you say, though he might have some very strong disagreements or objections to your ideas, especially if they are silly or completely nonsensical. However, he never turns you away when you bound up to him with a mischievous gleam in your eyes - he just sighs and prepares himself mentally to hear whatever goofiness comes out of your mouth.Â
Heâs your biggest cheerleader, supporter, and advocate. Though he may come off as intimidating, he is always willing to help advance your career or work. He has many connections and vast knowledge of the universe after all - why not utilize them for his beloved?Â
Heâs very good at dispelling any irrational thoughts in your head. If youâre panicking and your mind is disoriented, heâll sit next to you and hold your hand gently, but firmly to ground you. He doesnât speak at all when you vent out all your frustration, confusion, or anger - rather, heâs silently contemplative and then asks questions when you finish talking. Heâll indirectly guide you to a solution while gently calming you down as he dispels those pesky thoughts from your head.
He makes a custom alabaster head for you.Â
†Aventurine:
A big fan of matching accessories and clothing. You donât need to wear the exact same outfit, but he likes wearing complementary colors and jewelry to yours.
If youâd like, heâd be more than happy to bring you to casinos and public events with him. He wants to show off to you and let you witness his wit, talent, and skill like a peacock presenting its colorful feathers.Â
He likes it a lot when you trace his skin through the spade-shaped hole in his outfit.
He hates the feeling of being vulnerable, but he likes being around you. This creates conflicting emotions inside of him. Oftentimes, he doesnât know how to deal with it and just lurks by you. Pull him into a hug to quiet the voices in his head.Â
He will send you packages or luxury items from the planets heâs visiting. Youâll be greeting a disgruntled Topaz or IPC soldiers at your door as they hand you various gifts ranging from limited-edition jewelry to flowers that bloom only once every 200 amber eras. He gifts extremely grand things, but he always knows how to find things that suit your tastes.
Heâs a big spender on you. If youâre unused to the amount of money heâs willing to throw at you, heâs going to give you a lot of âexposure therapyâ with his generosity. Heâll invite you to private auctions, lavish galas, luxury boutiques, and high-end jewelry stores. Heâll start filling your wardrobe with tailor-made clothes with the excuse that you should match his outfits when you attend formal events together, but his clothing contributions eventually infiltrate your closet pretty deeply.Â
He enjoys being pampered and pampering you. Self-care nights are a must - as a representative of the IPC and one of the ten Stonehearts, he has to keep himself presentable and looking sharp, and that goes for his partner too! Heâs more than happy to spend money to fund your trips to the salon or buy you any beauty products to use at home. Heâd love to put on face masks together and share a drink or two with you.Â
â ïžïž Blade:
If you want to, and Elioâs script permits, he will bring you along on missions to safer planets. Heâll drop you off at a commercial district - feel free to go shopping or try out some novelty food while he wraps up his Stellaron Hunter business.
He likes getting his hair brushed. One of his favorite activities is sitting down and letting you comb through his hair after he cleans up from a mission. Itâs an activity that leaves him vulnerable, but he doesnât mind if itâs with you.
Heâs an acts of service kind of guy. He moves to take your bags before you even say anything, holds open doors, and pulls out chairs for you. Brings you a cup of water and some fruit when youâve been working for too long, and silently drapes his jacket over you when you shiver.
Tell him you like a certain pastry and heâll show up every day and bring some. Show him a picture of a pretty flower and heâs boarding a spaceship to bring the flower to you personally. If you want something, heâll do his best to get it.
Heâs pretty quiet, but heâll remember everything you say, what your preferences are, and what you like. He secretly writes it down in case his memory gets murky, and heâll often reread his notes to remind himself.
He gives simple but traditional gifts to you, such as jade bracelets and pendants, and combs and hairpins if you have longer hair to wear or use them.*
Heâll treasure anything you gift to him. If you make an accessory for him, he wears it at all times. If your gift is small enough, heâll stow it safely in his pockets and take it everywhere with him.
If family is important to you, heâll send funds their way and ensure that theyâre taken care of.Â
As someone whoâs often dead and then undead, his body can get stiff. Heâll enjoy it immensely if you massage him, and accompany him for his daily stretches and calisthenics. Even if you just hold him for a while, he finds that his muscles will relax from the warmth emitting from your body. Therefore, he quite appreciates having you physically near him.
* Combs, hairpins, Jade bracelets, and pendants were given as tokens of love and affection in Ancient China. These gifts have a deeper meaning/symbolism, but for the sake of post length, I did not write them all out.Â

A funny continuation of An Empress' Harem, where you get to see what your concubines think of each other.
First part: here
Third part: here
Notes: I gave her a two day fanfic birthday celebration, off to bed for me now. Unedited, tried to finish before 6pm..
Warning: possible mischaracterization...?
*************************************
Gepard and Sunday
The two were acquainted before their marriage to you due to their high status among nobles already. There was knowledge between them that someone of their background would end up in the royal family even then. It was a silent agreement of sorts, Sunday did not want the Landaus on his or his familyâs case and Gepard did not want the Oak family and their other branches on him or his own familiesâ case. In brief, they're on alright terms with each other, maybe even allies at certain times..
They respect each other enough and even spend time in each other's companies. If Sunday finds himself unavailable, a very rare and odd occasion, Gepard is one of the concubines he would trust to look after the things he cannot in his place until he can resume duties.
In the case of baring daughters for you, things become more complex. Both take great pride in their families and would want the honor of having Landau/Oak blood on the throne for their familiesâ own benefit. Perhaps this would disrupt the peace they've built with each other when they take their families into account.
Ratio and Aventurine
At first, Dr Ratioâs honest reaction to the blond when he first entered the harem was rather negative. He did not hate him, no. It was only the behaviour of Aventurine that he found a bit nauseating. In turn, Aventurine thought the professor much too serious and arrogant at their first meeting. For a short while their interactions with one another ended in snarky remarks.
Perhaps it was Aventurineâs easy ways of talking his way into your heart, an obvious beauty and smooth talker, it felt like watching a cheap prostitute seduce her way into a man's bed for money. Veritas Ratio did not like Aventurine.
In turn, Aventurine felt a certain way, watching you from a distance as you and Dr Ratio delved into deep talks on what he assumes are heavy topics, knowing Dr Ratio saw him as someone âwithout a talent for deeper meaningâ as the ex-professor would put it, seeing you connect with him on a knowledge level. It felt humiliating.
It was only during one of their snarky back handed comments, where Ratio had made Aventurine spill something nasty from his past that the ex-professor began to see the foreigner in a different light. Everything seemed to change.
Now, you can find the two visiting each other's palaces or conversing normally compared to their first times with each other. One would consider them allies in the harem, perhaps friends? They even encourage you as their Empress and master to visit the other.
In cases of children, they would probably raise their children close with each other and support the other if one ever wanted to push their daughterâs campaign to be the next Empress.
Aventurine and Sunday
Less than a positive relationship. They can behave in front of you but don't depend on it outside of your line of sight. Sundayâs comments can come off as subtly rude enough, Aventurine is more obvious with his insults, this makes Sundayâs masked insults peel off and become more degrading, more so if they are alone.
Their first meeting, after you had taken Aventurine on the night Jade left him with you, you had welcomed him into the harem. Sundayâs job as the Royal Consort and main man meant he had to welcome Aventurine, much to his displeasure. He had less than positive reviews of the IPC and watching one of their dogs seduce his way into your bed for the IPCâs benefit no doubt? Why doesn't he just hand you over to a dog then?
Aventurine thought of Sunday a bit worse than Dr Ratio when they first met. When the Consort showed him around his palace, he felt like a child being lectured on what not to do by his older sister when he was younger. The distaste for him was there, though subtle.
Sunday has no doubt his daughter would become Empress over the.. foreigner's offspring. Aventurineâs only reason for pushing a child of his on the throne would be for the IPCâs benefit, he finds himself rather numb to the idea anyway.
Aventurine and Jingyuan
Jingyuan was the less caring one of the harem he realized. Aside from that Vidyadhara green boy, Jingyuan seemed to care less that Aventurine was there and more for the fact he got called out of his palace to greet him. He wasn't that keen on etiquette either. He simply greeted the blond, yawned a few times, smiled at him weirdly then left the palace. Aventurine didn't mind this, Aventurine was actually one of the first people he enjoyed talking to at all.
Jingyuan cared less, he was only glad to see Aventurine wasn't ambitious in an exactly dangerous way, like that Sunday for example. Still dangerous, he doesn't like the way Aventurine sucks up to you like his life depends upon it, at least he's not like a few who are over the top when they first enter.
JingYuan isn't too ambitious about his possible future daughter becoming Empress. The only thing that would push him to do this would be his own familyâs urgings.. well he doesn't care about that either. He wouldn't be fighting with Aventurine over this.
Jingyuan and Dr Ratio
Well, Dr Ratio doesn't have much to say about the lousing concubine. They get along well enough when they do interact which isn't for long.
What surprised Ratio was the manâs surprising ability with knowledge and philosophy. They did sit down once and had a good talk, it was the last thing he expected out of someone so.. lazy but he was impressed.
JingYuan's impression of Dr Ratio was his own mother, then later his guardian, Jingliu. Proper and straight minded. He didn't expect Ratio to last in the harem as long as he did, he was somewhat impressed to see someone with this mindset still breathing. Seeing their agreements when discussing deep topics, they became checker partners as well. Meeting up at random points of day, they battled in checkers and exchanged point of views.
Dr Ratio has no unhealthy thirst for power like the others. JingYuan does not either. Daughters might not ruin the little thing they have going on.
Dan Heng and Jingyuan
JingYuan met the young Vidyadhara when he was a teenager and the boy was younger than he was, he would assume 8 or 10. The boy was withdrawn and didn't speak much to him. It took great effort to have the boy speak. He hadn't realized he had interacted with a descendant of the famous Vidyadharas then. Either way his interaction with the boy dwindled.
Seeing him again, as quiet as ever, prompted JingYuan to rekindle their lost friendship. He spent much time in Dan Hengâs presence, as much as Dan Heng allowed him anyway. You can find them reading a book together, playing checkers, conversing with Jingyuan speaking the most or simply spending time in close proximity with each other.
Dan Heng held mixed feelings towards the male re appearing in his life but to have an ally in this place wasn't a bad thing. He knew of his circumstances and understood his choices must be careful. JingYuan's family were high nobles but surely not high enough to raise suspicion about his loyalties. He wanted to avoid any possible drama. He knew Jingyuan himself had no ill intentions, if his memories serve him right. If time is willing, he would call Jingyuan a friend again.
He is banned from having his offspring with the Empress inherit the throne anyway.
Jingyuan and Gepard
Jingyuan was pleasant company but for someone from a military family that bothered to teach a man fighting techniques as well, you would expect him to be more.. energetic? On his feet? Gepard learned some of it, as old tradition in his family demands, he enjoyed carrying out these exercises with your permission during the day. So why was Jingyuan so..
Jingyuan thinks the Landau boy is too strict, he was younger than him but was already such a nagger, he wondered how a young man could nag this much and still be married. The boy was gentle and sweet yet also too serious, too proper, Jingyuan didn't enjoy being told to do things during the day instead of lazing around.
Anyway, they are far from threats to each other. Gepard is more cautious of Jingyuan than Jingyuan is of him.
JingYuan and Sunday
Too strict. Too controlling. Talks too much. This is all Jingyuan wants to say.
Jingyaun enjoyed doing things on his own time, especially now that he is no longer in Jingliuâs training where things were more rigorous. The great opportunity to be free has been disrupted by Sunday's reign over the harem. He always had something to say. Sunday is more enjoyable when he's not running the harem and enjoying tea with him as they watch The Empress join in on the Annual Hunt. When they're back at the castle and Sunday is back to being a workaholic it's less enjoyable.
Sunday thinks Jingyaun is far too lax for someone of his standing, a relative of a great general who was even taught personally by her. Sunday had the opportunity to be taught female subjects and he took it very seriously, using his proper education to keep this harem in order. If Jingyuan hadn't taken charge one day when he wasn't around, he would think the man is capable of nothing.
Surprisingly, despite the manâs rather lax ways, if there's an issue Sunday trusts JingYuan to run things with Gepard.
JingYuan's family is still impressive, JingYuan can be a threat in the future if he tried to be. He is still on guard for any sign of trickery from the lousing male.
Dan Heng and Ratio
Meeting a Vidyadhara in the flesh felt like something else. Ratio hasn't seen the man when he entered the harem, the male claiming to be sick when it was around the time the other concubines were to accept him in.
Ratio met him in the Imperial Gardens, being told by his servant that seeing the boy around and about outside his palace was a rare occasion. As one invested in history, a Vidyadhara in his vision felt like a great opportunity. He had approached the boy first, not expecting to meet a rather withdrawn individual who seemed to honor his own privacy. They had only talked for a small while before Dan Heng retreated back to his palace, claiming drowsiness. It was a small talk but he could see Dan Heng would make a great partner to talk to, from the way he spoke and carried himself, like a true noble.
Dan Heng could see the ex-professorâs curiosity about his family and liked the fact he didn't make his questions too obvious or too much. It still took a moment for him to warm up to the other, what was particularly interesting was playing checkers in a match with both Jingyuan and Dan Heng.
They didn't see each other much outside of this aside from important events they had to attend with or without their Empress. Whenever he could find a window to talk, he did. When they warmed up, they became a bit more than a person to share simple knowledge with. The good thing was that they could enjoy each other's company in silence.
Ratio and Sunday
Initially not enjoying the way you seemed to start taking Ratio as a partner to speak to over him, Sunday grew to appreciate Ratoâs personality. Where he'd usually drag majority harem out with him to distribute charity, it swallowed down to always making sure Ratio was there with him. Ratio seemed to be popular among the people, for previous acts of his before he became one your men in the harem. He put the imperials in a good light and that's all he needed.
Ratio did not personally enjoy Sundayâs company as he thought he would, not even for intellectual debates. He was uncomfortable with the idea of Sunday at times. Maybe it was the large gap in power or the way he spoke. He was glad he was seen in a good light by Sunday at least.
Dan Heng and Sunday
Sunday was more shocked by the choice of twisting ancient rules just to take this Vidyadhara into the harem.
He was particularly strict in his management of this one, as you had twisted the rules too that DanHeng should be kept under good surveillance by the Royal Consort. Even without the orders, Sunday would find himself doing this anyway. It was good to let the disgraced family know that this was no window of opportunity for them to stick their bloodied hands where it no longer belongs and that was keeping a strict eye on Dan Heng.
Dan Heng understood this, if anything he expected it. The bright part of this was that he would not be a threat to Sunday nor his family nor the other branches of it. He was disgraced enough. At worst, he'd get petty jealousy over you sharing your bed with him quite often but nothing would come out of bullying him anyway, he can't rise to power in any way and it would be too much to try this. He hopes Sunday will appreciate this and nothing major will happen in the future between them.
Aventurine and Dan Heng
Aventurine understood something of being ostracized in your own environment. He barely had many interactions with the Vidyadhara but he did feel some form of pity from the younger boy. Dan Heng was usually alone in social gatherings, whenever they spoke it was usually through Ratio making it happen. The boy was pleasant enough but nothing of importance to him.
Dan Heng had no negative feelings towards the blond, understanding this was simply Ratioâs close friend. Their conversations were nothing interesting, mindless chatter to pass time. If anything, Dan Heng didn't like the way Aventurine didn't seem to observe proper etiquette all the time but there's nothing about that to hate him with.
Consider them acquaintances.
Aventurine is more glad Dan Heng doesn't get in the way of what he's here to do.

Spoilers For HSR and TWST!!
Sunday! Yuu. People have made the connection between him and Malleus sending everyone to a dream so not to experience the injustices and harsh realities of the real world.
And I havent seen the 2.7 story yet but I know that Sunday is now a fugitive and is going to join the astral express but what if he somehow gets isekaied into twisted wonderland.
And so I have some headcanons ( Sorry if somethings are inaccurate this is my first post like this )

Housewardans with Sunday! Yuu :
Riddle
He appreciates Sunday! Yuuâs Leadership and Knowledge and respects Sunday Yuu for mostly following the rules
Sunday! Yuu disargees with a decent amount of the rules due to how strict the punishment is for the most mundane things and dislikes the lack of freedom and authority that comes along but still follows the rules nonetheless
They understand itâs hypocritical of them to say the part about freedom and authority
Sunday! Yuu also respects Riddle for his leadership and dedication but disargees with the strictness of it all.
During book one, Sunday! Yuu has to confront their own childhood along with Riddleâs.
They both were manipulated and raised by parental figures in thier lives that forced down a harmful philosophy into them for their own gain
Like when Trey tells them about riddles mom Sunday! Yuu can picture Mr Gopher Wood.
And during the overbolt section with the flashbacks,Sunday! Yuu is fighting every urge for tears not to fall out of their eyes when seeing riddleâs childhood and seeing theirâs and robinâs childhood along with it
Sunday! Yuu ends up sobbing with riddle while hugging him. They miss robin so much
After all that,Sunday! Yuu would try to help riddle be less strict on his dormmates and help him lead heartslabyul
Leona
Leona thought Sunday! Yuu was a stuck up before book 2
Leona also could tell something was off with Sunday ! Yuu so he was a bit wary of them
Sunday! Yuu saw him as a lazy and unfit leader before book 2 as well
With Sunday! Yuu kinda reminding him of Malleus yea they did not like each other
During book 2,Leona kinda respected Sunday! Yuuâs intelligence to come up with that plan but that also came with a scoopful of jealousy
When Sunday! Yuu saw the flashback sequence,They did sympathize leona but also saw it as leona giving up an already high position because he couldnât get a higher one.
So in comparison to riddles heartfelt comfort,Sunday! Yuu actually had a debate (more like lecture) with leona about how being in second place is still in the leaderboard and how leona could actually make a difference if he tried
After all that,Leona respects Sunday! Yuu more but they still donât really like each other.
Azul
Nuh uh, Sunday! Yuu doesnt like him from the start. Being the head of the oak family in penacony, they have met plenty of shady business people most from the ipc
On that note, Azul reminds Sunday! Yuu wayyyy too much of ipc Stoneheart Jade.Granting wishes for a price of equal value that ends up the price being way worse than the wish? Sunday! Yuu knows what azul wants and will refuse to give it under all circumstances.
Doesnt help that one of the tweels is named Jade too Sunday! Yuu almost had a heart attack after hearing his name lol
Azul is immensely curious about Sunday! Yuu and their halovain nature and their power of the harmony.Always sending the tweels to spy on Sunday! Yuu,but due to Sunday! Yuuâs experience with this kind of stuff they will always find their way out.
During book 3,Sunday! Yuu was scolding the firstyears nonstop about signing a contract with him. And was also pretty shocked about the merpeople and their forms.
During the flashback sequence, Sunday! Yuu would sympathize with azul but still would not forgive him for his actions and same with leona would have a lecture with him about how if others hurt you that doesnt justify you hurting others for your gain.
After all that, Sunday! Yuu still doesnt like azul but azul still respects and admires Sunday! Yuuâs power and ability.
Kalim
Kalim really likes Sunday! Yuu.Coming from the land of festivities, Sunday! Yuuâs sure knows how to organize a spectacular party.
Sunday! Yuu helps organize Kalims many partys and keeps him in check to the relief of Jamil
Sunday! Yuu finds Kalim quite enjoyable and sweet though pretty careless.
They also regularly checks out the Light Music Club and helps them with songs as they have experience with music due to working with robin
They sometimes sing there with the power of harmony but it took a long time to convince them to even try singing It brought back too many memories
I dont really have a lot for kalim Sorry! Because the overbolt was mainly for Jamil
Overall, Kailm and Sunday! Yuu like eachother pleasantly.
Vil
Vil likes Sunday! Yuu a fair bit. Sunday! Yuu has experience in the showbiz world from robin and understands alot of celebrity culture, beauty, social media etc so Vil sees Sunday! Yuu as a knowledgeable individual and respects them for that.
Sunday! Yuu respects Vil for his effort, determination and drive and often help him with management issues and other stuff of the like
During book 5,The first years begged for Sunday! Yuu to join VDC and eventually they caved. They actually got in as a performer due to their voice and experience with the field but they also became the producer of the competition on their own request.
Vil commitment to routine with his skincare, food, makeup reminded him much of himself and robinâs routine. Almost everything reminded them of robin, they miss her more than anything else
And when Sunday! Yuu saw Neige Le Blanc, they felt the urge to protect and hug him.The soft angelic glow and the sweet melodic voice was too much for Sunday! Yuu to handle. They were already having mental issues with everything reminding them of robin and with neige being very similar to robin Sunday! Yuu was having a mental breakdown ngl
And instead of Rook saving neige, Sunday! Yuu was the one to smack the apple juice out of neiges hand. The brotherly urge to protect was too strong even though it didnt really matter to Sunday! Yuu if Neige died or not.
During the flashback sequence ,Sunday! Yuu was dead slient, they were emotional but not as emotional with riddleâs.It still hit too close to home with all the acting and celebrity world.
This time Sunday! Yuu just had a mature conversation with vil about his jealousy and pride.
Idia
Idia thought Sunday! Yuu was an SSR morally grey villain ikemen in a video game.
Sunday! Yuu didnt even know who he was other than housewarden of Ignihyde and a social recluse.Though theyâd often use Ignihyde technology due to that being the closest to the technology back in their world
But during Book 6, ooooh boy was it depressing, horrifying and dangerous all in a mechanical package.
The overbolt was insanly tough They almost exhausted all their energy to support the other housewardens.
And the flashback was chilling, The incident of orthoâs death, young idiaâs wails and crys left Sunday! Yuu feeling horribly terrified, sortowful and empty.
They has experienced the loss of a family member since a young age too, and almost lost robin in penacony. What if like ortho, Robin had died when they were young? Would they be like idia today the thought was too horrible.
Sunday! Yuu didnt even say anything to idia afterwards but tears did fall from their face.
Malleus
Malleus is horribly down bad for Sunday! Yuu (platonic or romantic you decide). He is utterly curious about their halovain background, Malleus had actually thought Sunday! Yuu was a fae or an angel when he first met them.
Sunday! Yuu is also pretty interested in malleus and the mystery of who he is.As I said in the beginning they have some large similarities and theyâd definitely get along.
Theyâd both rant to eachother about alot and theyd both listen to eachother and argee with eachother.
Malleus felt a real friend to Sunday! Yuu someone who understood them and their similarities often made them both seem seen by the other
Sunday! Yuu probably wouldnât call Malleus tsunotarou, Iâd imagine itâd be something like Mr draco/drago or something of the like
Book 7, Idk much about but Sunday! Yuu would essentially fight against a slightly different penacony and Iâd think theyâd have a different outlook on life to say the least.

hello, platonic aventurine with an in-debt teen reader?
"Let me make you an offer, Friend"
Tags: Aventurine x Teen!Reader, Platonic, Mentor-Apprentice Relationship, Found Family, Protective Aventurine, Gambling Metaphors, Debt Repayment, Strategic Mind Games, Subtle Bonding, Hidden Emotions, Survival Tactics.
A/N: Why does this sound like me...? đ I need an Aventurine in my life to pay debts fr

Aventurine met you in a rather unconventional wayâcaught in a game of your own, albeit one where the stakes were dangerously high. You were attempting to negotiate your debt with some questionable IPC associates when he happened to stroll by. He watched the interaction with mild curiosity, and when you caught his eye, he gave a knowing smirk and intervened with his characteristic smoothness.
Heâs intrigued by your situation, partly amused by the audacity of someone so young to get mixed up with IPC debts. He decides to help youânot out of pure kindness, but because he sees a bit of himself in your resilience and audacity. He âpaysâ off your debt as an investment, but he makes it clear this is not charity. His favor comes with strings, and he subtly suggests that you âowe himâ now. But thereâs something protective in the way he delivers this message, almost as if he's warding off others who might take advantage.
Despite his initial aloofness, Aventurine takes a strange liking to you and becomes a bit of a mentor, though he would never call himself that. Instead of lecturing, he offers advice in cryptic phrases, urging you to think five steps ahead in every decision. He teaches you the art of reading people, gauging their motives, and knowing when to bluff and when to hold back. Thereâs a thrill in the way he demonstrates this, turning ordinary interactions into high-stakes âgames.â
Aventurine provides you with occasional tasks, small errands that allow him to gauge your talents. He lets you accompany him to upscale IPC events, knowing that exposure to this world of high-stakes deals and strategy is the best teacher. Heâs a sharp observer, quickly noting your strengths and weaknesses, and he offers blunt advice when needed. While he maintains his enigmatic aura, he never allows you to get too close, reminding you in his own way that trust is earnedâand rarely granted freely.
With time, Aventurine drops subtle hints about his own life philosophies. He talks about taking risks but always with a hidden safety net, teaching you how to survive in a world that might otherwise devour you. He tells you, with a shadow of seriousness, to never let anyone see how deeply theyâve cut you, reminding you that even vulnerability is a weapon when wielded correctly.
Aventurineâs protective side reveals itself whenever he suspects someone might try to exploit you. Though he doesnât make a show of it, heâll quietly ârearrangeâ circumstances to keep certain people away or to ensure youâre not drawn into IPCâs darker undercurrents. Heâll offer a calm warning with a smile, his eyes glinting, as he reminds you of the âprice of trust.â You know that, while he claims your debt as his own, heâd sooner see you free from it than bound tighter.
Over time, your bond with Aventurine becomes something close to friendship, even if heâd never label it that way. While he maintains his air of mystery, thereâs a camaraderie in the way he smirks when you catch onto his tricks or in the rare instances when he actually praises your progress. You share jokesâmost at others' expenseâand a silent understanding grows. Though his motives may remain unclear, you realize Aventurine has become an unexpected ally, guiding you with a peculiar mix of mentorship and care that only he could offer.
Aventurine is careful not to coddle or shelter you. Instead, he pushes you to stand on your own two feet, even as he watches over you. âNo one else will hand you a chance,â he reminds you, âso make your own and gamble on it.â Eventually, he hints that he sees potential in you to one day challenge him in the art of strategy. And though he says it with his usual enigmatic tone, you sense a rare glimpse of pride behind his guarded gaze.

I. ON THE TOPIC OF BELONGING.ă»ăDAN HENG
One of the theories pushed forward in this universeâa common conjecture between scientists throughout the starsâis that there are disturbances in a system that is being observed, versus one that is not. This is astutely named the observer effect. And this situation is the first proper example heâs seen of that. Dan Heng feels that as soon as he takes his eyes off you, youâll phase back to a space between these dimensions, like some specter there are only myths about. when data nerd Dan Heng finds the forbidden dictionary and masters the hidden art: synonyms male! engineer reader warnings: eventual nsfw, kind of but not really spoilers to dan heng's backstory, amab reader

NEXT PART
Dan Heng has many words that sum up his existence.Â
If you ask the denizens of the Luofu, theyâd scorn the likeness he bears with scathing vitriol. After all, his continued existence is an insult to the shared moral codex that all Xianzhou natives and their coexisting long-life species hold dear. The very ship he stands on knows of the sins of Dan Feng; it is intimately entwined with the recent history of the Luofu. Though he can barely remember the hazy memories of his past life, the marks left behind by his clawed hands are still tender; so much so that the phantasmal imprints of his crime pulses beneath flesh like a second heart.Â
Hence, seditious and traitorous would be amongst their most polite of adjectives used to describe his person.Â
If you ask the IPC employees whose spaceships he temporarily boarded, they would find it hard to remember such an unremarkable man in the first place. Heâs not a criminal when you remove the man from Luofu. Heâs simply another unwelcomeâthough this is concealed, poorly, behind brief nods and strained smilesâpassenger, another burden to kick out at the closest planetary cluster. Though, as long as he works hard, he earns his keep.Â
Hence, diligent would be one of the only adjectives few of them attribute to him. The rest simply donât remember, or perhaps they donât care. Both are equally probable.Â
If you ask the Masked Fools with whom he unfortunately entangled his journey with, theyâd remark it a pity that he still had his memory intact from when they tried to wrench it from him. No, they will not elaborate. Heâs unlike them, as he is unlike the aforementioned IPC. Heâs too solemn. Heâs too uptight. He doesnât smile. His face is as impassive as the alabaster and bronze masks they don.Â
Hence, amongst a repertoire of appellations that really all mean the same thing, it is serious that is the gist derived from their babble.Â
All these, when compiled together with pins and red strings on a corkboard, are integrated back into a singular general impression:Â unapproachable.Â
Heâs left alone in the Shackling Prison; the guards may jeer or insult him, but they never come too close. Heâs left alone on the IPC spaceships; thereâs just something about him that makes it easy to delegate more menial work unto him, but never to actually connect person-to-person. And heâs left alone amidst the madness of the Masked Fools; though they force him to attend those deranged lectures, thereâs no interest other than superficial for him.Â
Friends he vaguely recalls are shaped in his mind as though someone coloured outside their lines: blurred, messy, and utterly intangible. He has no points of connection that can really describe him at present, therefore he relies on othersâ assumptions to gauge his character.Â
Unapproachable.Â
In that crimson strand of thinking, youâre similar to the idea of Dan Heng. Though, pinned neatly to the corkboard on a yellow sticky note, itâs not so much as thatâs the impression you give, more like the default word attributed to somebody who isnât present enough for any other impression to exist.Â
âWhereâs your next stop?â
Thereâs a woman standing before him with vivid scarlet cascading from the crown of her head and down her shoulders like a waterfall. It coils so familiar, yet so different, to the âredâ that pursues him in both the waking and dream world. Heâs taken aback, blinking with surprise as his gaze focuses and refocuses just past her to spot an erudite man some distance away; the shine of his black-framed glasses glints as though in encouragement.Â
His first experience with the Astral Express is wholly foreign to the concept heâs been creating of his travels: free, but with an unpleasant weariness that he doesnât think heâll ever get used to. Thereâs a certain flavour, a certain brand of loneliness that comes with always running away from a pursuer as unrelenting as that man.Â
â...Havenât decided yet,â he answers carefully. Heâs covered with rust; metallic red as obvious as her hair, all from the monsters that heâd slain ungraciously while travelling this star-studded route. Cloud Piercer is still swinging in his palms: a pendulum to decide her fate. Are you another enemy?
Dan Heng is tired.Â
âWould you like to board our âExpressâ?â
Itâs the first time heâs heard of the name. Maybe heâs felt the whispers of the âNamelessâ back on the Luofu, perhaps from his alleged genesis in the Shackling Prison as he underwent a partial rebirth, but thereâs nothing substantial to hold on to.
Heâs silent, though the spin of his spear as it warps back into empty space betrays the cogs whirring as he mulls the question over.Â
Behind her is a train, rather than a conventional starship. Itâs a hulk made from gleaming metal; though that isnât what captures his attention. There is no carefully-calibrated frequency that melds seamlessly with the starsâbut a beating, mechanical heart that whirs with a quality of life heâs never quite heard before. Itâs rough, unpolishedâa far cry from the almost soundless starskiffs he watched back on the Luofuâbut itâs precisely that which captivates him. Later, he thinks the concept of trailblaze rather suits the distinct form of this metal beast. Though heâs been deemed unapproachable by the masses, something tells him that this is an opportunity to lessen the distance he surrounds himself with, through sheer willpower rather than cautious responses.Â
Dan Heng ultimately ends up going with the woman named Himeko and the gentleman introduced as Welt Yang.Â
An archivist and a guard. He forms the words in his mouth. Guard tastes familiar, yet archivist is something heâs not quite come across. Regardless of the unpleasant connotation with the former, both represent a change in being a âfugitiveâ to being somebody with a âroleâ in this endless universe.
He boards the train, and though both conductor and the floors seep carmine, they too donât dredge up the haunting echo of his living nightmares. Pom-Pom isnât particularly surprised by his sudden appearanceâit makes him wonder just how frequently the Express picks up stray dogs like himself.Â
Three existencesâHimeko, Pom-Pom, and Mr. Yangâare the only souls heâs seen on the train in his long time of two hours on this train, which is why itâs a surprise when Himeko tells him to greet the fourth and final Nameless. In fact, though they spoke of many trivialities and complexities that surrounded the journey he was about to undertake, this is the first time heâs heard your name being mentioned.Â
Heâs the other mechanic who works with Himeko, Dan Heng reminds himself as he takes cautious steps towards the locomotive. Your room of legend is situated nearbyâhe says legend and mythical as itâs approaching three hours and heâs yet to feel your presence whatsoever.Â
Thereâs a door that must be yours. Itâs not confirmed, but thereâs heavy music he can faintly feel through the wood; periodic vibrations and bass that is punctuated by either the grating of metal, the rustling of paper, or an incredulous string of curses he canât quite transcribe. He knows all this as heâs been standing with his hand poised into a fist for the past three minutes, and not one of them has endowed him with the audacity to actually knock. He knows your name, he now knows your voice (though still not much of it)âyet the task of finally coming face-to-face with you is rather daunting now that the last steps of becoming a Nameless are finally upon him.Â
Before he can finally allow his knuckles and the wood to get intimately acquainted, the door slides open and soft amber light wafts into the dark hallway.Â
Thereâs you, looking entirely out of it as you slowly yawn with a spanner clenched tight in your fist. Thereâs various splotches of tar-like grease on the old hoodie you sport, while your tool shares the same fate. He takes a glance into the slice of room heâs been afforded the view of, and it matches his expectations: crumpled blueprints on a large desk, something large and complicated that he doesnât even wantïżœïżœto attempt naming, and finally the radio thatâs currently churning out metalâaptly enough.Â
As you shuffle slightly closer, he can smell the oil and metal and the acerbic scent of energy drinks emanating from you. He can faintly hear your slow breathing, see the flutter of your lashes as your eyelids fight to stay open. You look past him with a gaze that reminds him vaguely of a cadaver; something half-dead and barely on this plane of existence. Itâs unlike the hatred he gets from the Luofu, or the persistent ignorance from the IPC, or even the mockery afforded to him from the Masked Fools.Â
Itâs unlike the warm curiosity of Himeko, the polite neutrality of Mr. Yang, or the concerned amiability of Pom-Pom. Itâs so utterly dispassionate and glazed-over that he fights the urge to wonder whether you can even see him. Whether youâre actually breathing or if itâs just a perfunctory rising and falling of your chest.Â
He knows all this because the time elapsed from the two of you simply standing has just gone past a minute. A minute of silenceâthough this one isnât in honour of anybody, itâs just a rather awkward endeavour. In fact, heâs had so much time to become acquainted with this silence that heâs used basically all five senses to commit you to memory. The background music makes it all the more uncomfortable; itâs constantly reminding him of this elevator atmosphere that has yet to dissipate.Â
âIâm Dan Heng,â he attempts after the quiet becomes unbearable. Introduce yourself then leave. Itâs the first time heâs felt so intimidated. He understands, then, the implication that comes with somebody being âunapproachableâ. Itâs not just the distance one feels from somebody else. This is different. This is someone barely tied to this space.Â
One of the theories pushed forward in this universeâa common conjecture between scientists throughout the starsâis that there are disturbances in a system that is being observed, versus one that is not. This is astutely named the observer effect. And this situation is the first proper example heâs seen of that. Dan Heng feels that as soon as he takes his eyes off you, youâll phase back to a space between these dimensions, like some phantasm there are only myths about.Â
You mumble something incoherent. He cannot, for the life of him, figure out the words, or even the very tone youâre using. Are you asking him to clarify? Are you telling him your name? Are you telling him to screw off and never appear before you again? All are equally plausible.Â
âThe new guard⊠the new archivist,â he tries once more. You peer at him with such exhausted eyes that he trails off in the last two syllables.Â
Heâs known you for the span of three minutes, but the chess piece you move next in this exchange both baffles him yet entirely fits your character. You nod once in brief acknowledgement, then shut the door back with a neat click.Â
Itâs a final full-stop in this train-wreck of a play. Were the Masked Fools to see this, he thinks, there would probably be a perception shift of him into a poor maddening idiot. Â
Itâs not a particularly good impression, but the easy neutrality with which you act with makes it excruciating to even gauge how well that went.Â
He opens his mouth, then closes it again.Â
Best not to question it.Â
Dan Heng goes back to where the other three waitâhead hanging a bit lower out of shame rather than relief that heâs finally, officially becoming a Trailblazer. Itâs bittersweet, but he supposes you just canât change everything about yourself immediatelyâand despite the puzzling interaction, that was a nod of acknowledgement, was it not?
âHow was it?â He pretends he doesnât see the knowing glint in Himekoâs golden irises, and outright ignores the light smile on Mr. Yang.Â
âFine.â His dry response only elicits laughter from Pom-Pom and the crimson woman; clearly, they are well-aware of both your disposition and his blatant lie.Â
âDonât worry, he doesnât bite,â she reassures himâ as though thatâs supposed to be consolationâ and hands him a steaming mug of something dark and almost viscous. He takes it, too fixated on her words to actually fathom what exactly is in the âdrinkâ. âHeâs awake at odd hours, and though the maintenance of the Astral Express is easier due to the influx of technology, heâs constantly planning out updates for it alongside me. So thatâs just his normal state during the day, if he even manages to get up.â
Fascinating. The concept of night and day doesnât exist when youâre constantly plunged in darkness, so choosing to work when everyone typically sleeps feels more intentional than not.Â
She sighs. âThe kid needs to take a break moreâbut both Argo-I and the Herta Space Station exchange new gadgets with himâand if it makes him happy, what can I do?â
Itâs an odd sort of conversation. Though itâs off-putting to talk about you without your presence, he gets the feeling that sheâs trying to connect him with you so he can understand you a little better.Â
Thatâs decidedly strange.Â
âI promise you that heâs a sweetâheâs not a bad kid,â she corrects herself, and Pom-Pom doubles over. âHe just finds small talk and company unproductive while heâs working.â
None of the others heâs met have attempted to make him understand. But though your eyes arenât full of the abhorrence heâs grown accustomed to, the utter lack of passion in your eyes doesnât feel welcoming, either.Â
He takes a sip of the hot drink, and immediately grimaces.Â
Itâs bitter.Â
ăâș ă . ⊠. ăâș ă  âŸ
Dan Heng has a lot of words to encapsulate his experience on the Express so far.Â
If he had to describe his assigned room, it would be overwhelming. The interstellar lexicon cannot come up with an adjective more apt. That room is much too big, much too disorientating for someone accustomed to only staying temporarily. He supposes itâll be the same for this part of his journey too.
So, he buries himself in his work to make the most of his impermanent tenure. Quite literallyâhe sleeps in the data archives, soothed to a restless sleep each cycle by the incessant hum of the computers as they whir and log new information. Dan Heng sees binary sequencesâceaseless 0 and 1sâblinking as soon as he closes his eyelids. And for once, he actually enjoys the work handed to him, as it is wholly his job and not somebodyâs leftovers.Â
If he had to describe the Express in all its grandeur, heâd assign impressive to its impression. Itâs massiveâso much so that it seems to have its own gravitational pull. Everything on it is impressive, from its facilities, to its technology, and especially its close-to-luminal speed. Never over, but it feels like it sometimes with how many space systems he observes through the parlor windows.Â
It makes him appreciate just how much work goes into powering something this well-oiled; in his week of being here, thereâs been no signs of anything remotely wrong with the maintenance. The Expressâ exodus from various nebulae is smoother than even the ships of the IPC, and only Aeons knew how much credits they pushed towards their vessels.Â
If he had to describe the Trailblazers, thereâd be two distinct lines of thought heâd follow. For Himeko, the colours residing within her lines would now include mischievous and erudite. For Mr. Yang, he can slowly recognise the tang of sarcastically humorous and compassionate. And for Pom-Pom, the dictionary has expanded to somewhat intimidating. Itâs nothing too scary, but his intuition implores him to not provoke the conductor, no matter how friendly they seem.Â
Thatâs the first group. They differ from the second group in the regard that the impressions they give are gradually becoming more nuanced. Â
The second group contains only the other mechanic.Â
In all his seven cycles of inhabiting the Express, heâs taken numerous walks through the long vessel. Heâs sat in the parlor learning how to play chess from Mr. Yang; heâs observed as Himeko makes her coffee in the kitchen; and heâs taken a glance into the helm where Pom-Pom performs the routine checks in the locomotive.Â
The point is, heâs interacted with these three individuals more in 168 system hours than he has with the hundreds of people heâs met over the past few months.Â
Except for you.Â
Youâre not at the helm, youâre not in the kitchen, and youâre certainly not in the parlor.Â
Your impression remains unapproachable, simply because youâre just not there.
Sure, he pauses in front of your room while he passes through the hallwayâin the vain hope that the door might slide open like it did all those days agoâbut nothing changes. Thereâs always some form of music vibrating through the walls, the sounds of clanging and machinery, and the rustling of blueprints.Â
If anythingâs changed, itâs your even more expansive array of imprecations. He doesnât think heâs ever heard so many various languages learned, all for the sole purpose of formulating long strings of curses that would make even Xianzhou pilots wince.Â
This continues on into the second week, and a little into the third. At this point, heâs growing frighteningly accustomed to feeling the comforting hum of the train as it speeds through space and time. Itâs growing familiar, and he vaguely wonders how long it will be before you show your face again.Â
Itâs been 387 system hours since heâs started living here.Â
The archives arenât particularly organised; it makes sense considering how often Mr. Yang and Himeko take calls, holographs and generally administrate the Express. Hence, thereâs no one to methodically sort out the extensive reaches of the Data Bank. And though most of it is digital, the information is infuriatingly hard to puzzle through as itâs not exactly uploaded with a set system.Â
Itâs only natural that he spends a good portion of the day marooned in the room stacked high with monitors and computers.Â
However, he does take the time to have breakfast and socialise with his colleagues. Every morning, heâs chased into the dining car by an insistent Pom-Pom; somehow, youâre spared the intense wrangling, and he can never spot you amidst the faces.Â
After the meal, he spends a half-hour or so in the parlor, either playing chess with Mr. Yang or discussing the vast plains of knowledge Himeko has. Though both you and her are this trainâs mechanics, thereâs such a stark difference between how present she is and how absent you are. Sometimes, he wonders whether youâre really corporeal and not just a figment of his imagination.Â
âHe does come out of his room,â Mr. Yang comments, seemingly unruffled by the empty seat next to him at the breakfast table. âCurrently, I think heâs collaborating with the Herta Space Station engineers on an agricultural machine for one of the systems we visited a while back.â
Himeko takes a long swill of her coffee. Dan Heng almost misses its bitter flavour. âWhile Iâm typically a part of diplomatic efforts when we make various stops, he likes to help the people recover from the effects of the Stellaron where he can. In this sense, weâre both engineers outside the Express tooâone for theory, one for practice.â
Ultimately, heâs gotten used to the routine. Itâs a mundanity that feels like luxury compared to the turbulence of his travels across the stars.Â
ââof course, weâll take it into consideration after we startââ
ââyou donât entirely trust them, do you? After the stunt they pulled with the steel, where they fucked up its tensile strength and the parts simply crumpledââ
He can only hear snippets of the conversation in the parlor as he makes his way from the archives to the parlor door.Â
âHimeko, I donât suppose you know whether Argo-II would be willing to supply us with their bronze? Itâs impervious to pretty much anything, but negotiating for it is a bitch and a half.â
Dan Heng freezes from where heâs about to slide the door open. That voice. Heâs only heard brief echoes of it; never full sentences. Itâs not Himekoâs rich drawl, nor Mr. Yangâs clipped cadence, nor the bubbly chatter of Pom-Pom. Itâs rougher, colder, but so utterly complete.Â
He presses his palm to the wood with bated breath; youâll dissipate just like that if he walks in, wonât you?
Youâre sitting in one of the low chairs around the chess board, idly tilting the white bishop this way and that while you ponder your next move. Itâs clear your attention isnât on the game (nor is Himekoâs, really); by the looks of it, this is âdamnâ important.Â
Itâs the first time he sees you clearly. Your eyes, which looked so cadaverous in the lowlight of your dim room, hold a lot more depth than he thought heâd see. Theyâre not shining, exactly, but the piercing glint of them makes them appear so full of resolution that he wonders how he could mistake them for anything but.Â
Your two rooks are on opposing corners, trapping the king in his crumbling castle.Â
âAfter the fiasco with the Migrides Embassy, I donât think we have a choice.â Himeko eyes the board, then your wavering bishop. Itâs still your move, but she doesnât tip the king to surrender, even with her loss staring right back at her.Â
âCheckmate.â Itâs a final statementâthereâs not a speck of gloating nor elation in your tone, only a factual collection of syllables that marks this conversation to a close. Your gaze is still fixed on the pieces: fallen and surviving alike.Â
âWhatâs going on?âÂ
He doesnât expect you to answer. He doesnât even expect you to look up at him, but you do. Himeko turns towards him, but sheâs Himeko and he knows sheâll give him her attention. You, on the other handâyouâre the unpredictable variable he hasnât quite yet figured out in your mess of 0s and 1s.Â
âWe got screwed over by our new supplier of astral steel,â you summarise laconically; rough burrs rush through the air, rather than Himekoâs . âFor the plating on the carriages and the frontâlike the cowcatcherâand none of the 300-odd parts even come close to the standard modulus that astral steel should be for the G-force we travel at, while the Assembly on Migrides has gone radio-silent.â
Honestly, itâs a wonder his jaw hasnât unhinged completely.Â
âActually, why donât you bring him up to speed in the entirety while I speak to Welt about a potential visit to both the Argo and Migrides clusters?âÂ
He expects you to reject her proposition, and it seems more and more plausible when you let out a long sigh and drag your hand over your face irritably.Â
Dan Hengâs feet are already beginning to turn him back to the archives when it happens.Â
âSure.â And you surprise him once again.Â
Himeko leaves with a tenser gait than normal. Itâs totally due to that, that heâs hovering awkwardly by her vacant chairâand totally not due to the fact heâs been caught off guard for the nth time.Â
âSit,â you invite, deftly setting up the board once more. âDo you play?â
Do you play?â as though youâve talked to him before, as though the two of you already know each other. Heâs struggling to even process the question, let alone your intentions behind asking it.Â
Forget unapproachable. Youâre unpredictable, in every facet of that word. Â
âI played similar gamesââ In prison, he leaves out. ââand Iâve been playing with Mr. Yang.â
A wooden piece raps against wooden boardâ clack, clack. âYour move, then.â
Pawn to e4.Â
âStandard start,â you note, rolling a pawn of your own as though youâre handing a tool. And, he supposes, you very much are. âI donât know if Himekoâs told you, but part of her and my job is doing routine updates when theyâre called for.â
âI am aware, yes,â he hardly breathes.Â
âGood,â you comment dryly. Your pawn is set directly facing his own. âThe astral steel supplier that we occasionally source parts and raw ore from has been cut off by the damned IPC, about two months ago.â
He silently moves his bishop to e5.Â
âWeltâs been teaching you by the book.â Your knight is placed in his line of capture, but the solid wall behind it makes it a pointless sacrifice to even think about it. âSo we switch our suppliers to the Migrides Embassy, since their reputation is fairly good in terms of ship parts. Then, those bastards send us corrupted astral steel.â
The table creaks beneath your incensed fingers.Â
âI spent over two fucking weeks painstakingly measuring the strain and stress modulus for every one of those three-hundred and forty-one pieces, before testing it in at the maximum velocity that can be reached by the Express, with some leeway,â you scoff, eyes trailing as he places his own knight to guard his pawn. âAll failures. None of my holographs, not a single one of my messages went through to either the Assembly or the Embassy.â
He plays by the book, as you put it, but so do youâmatching his pace so he is still allowed room for mistake.Â
âOur only option left is negotiation with ArgoâII for their bronze, which is better than astral steel for its durabilityâbut theyâre extremely stingy with it.â You capture his struggling pawn with your queen. The board is a lot sparser than at the beginning. His castle, too, has started its steady crumble.Â
âOr attempt to buy from the IPC, but like hell Iâm walking into a deal with them. Scammers, the lot of themâtheyâre definitely going to milk their new monopoly for all its worth.â
The game is marching to its inevitable conclusion.Â
âIs there the possibility that somethingâs direly wrong on Migrides?â Dan Heng ventures.Â
âGood theory, but itâs just financial troubles. Their tourism is declining, and so their stockpile of damaged steel was sold to us at regular price,â you sigh. âTrouble is, their receipt had a virus so ridiculously undetectable that it destroyed both it and the copies it made. Mr. Yang could probably reconstruct it easily, but it just goes to show it wonât be easy getting the cash back.â
Itâs not exactly the amiability of the other three. Of all his minutes in being in your presence, the largest fraction has been filled with your complaints, while the other tiny proportion is filled with awkward silence and your incoherent replies.Â
He tilts his king flat on the board.Â
Surrender.Â
The first impression wasnât that great (and if heâs being honest, neither is the second one). But thereâs a tiny crack through the alabaster, and it contains small trivia and adjectives like good at chess and quite puzzling and eloquent in his complaints.Â
That should be in its own special brand of âprogressâ, he thinks.
The bitter feeling subsides, ever so slightly. Â

Vulnerability- Aventurine x male!Reader
Return to File
Recovery date: April 29th, 2024
Description: Hello sorry if this is a bad time, but I was wondering if you could make a story where the reader is male and comes from an extremely endangered species that is capable of having a child with a partner of the same gender, and he's kind of like Black Swan's apprentice, and went to Penacony with her but he ends up bumping into his ex Aventurine, the reader left him because he had a couple mental issues he needed to work out but he still cares about Aventurine and just doesn't know what to say to him.
Notes: This work was recovered in conjunction with an anonymous researcher, we thank them for their contributions. I couldn't really work in the "being able to have a child with someone of the same gender" but otherwise I think this came out really well.

Black Swan is a bitch.
Thatâs Y/nâs opinion as he catches a glimpse of soft golden hair and a gaudy green suit across the bar. The memokeeper had sent her darling apprentice to get them some drinks. She could feign ignorance, but Y/n watched her look over at the bar before sending him. He knows this was intentional, but he wonât let her lead him like she leads everyone else.
Seriously, heâd been under the impression that memokeepers were simply supposed to observe, why was she so intent on meddling with his life?
âOne sweetened mood and one prolonged sunrise, from the man in the green suit,â the bartender nodded over her shoulder before he could ask about the second drink.
Y/n bit their tongue and tried to hold back a scowl.
âThank you.â
He picked up the sweetened mood and brought it back to Black Swan.
âYou forgot your drink,â Black Swan hummed, taking her drink from Y/n.
âI didnât get one.â
âBut he bought you one,â she grinned, taking a sip.
âAnd if I took it Iâd be opening myself up to talk to him, and I have nothing to say to him.â
They both looked over to the bar, finding the man in question talking with a man with purple hair who looked less than thrilled to be there. When Y/n turned back around, Black Swan was watching her drink swirl togetherâ the layers becoming muddled and the vibrant colors becoming one dull shade. He could sense a coming lecture and sighed.
âYou want to be a memokeeper to preserve your kind, to leave a record in the wake of your destruction so that maybe somedayâ if the universe comes to an endâ you can be born again.â
âIf youâre about to suggest repopulating my kind Iâm going to leave.â
Black Swan laughed.
âNo, no, thatâs a decision only you can make. Iâm just saying that youâve found your purpose now, maybe itâs time to give relationships another chance.â
Y/n frowned.
Black Swan wasnât wrong. The only reason Y/n had broken up with Aventurine was because heâd felt too dependent on the IPC agent. Aventurine had tried to comfort him by insisting he could depend on him, but that had only made things worse. Neither of them wanted to be taken care of and while Aventurine was in a position where he could take care of Y/n, even if it was only superficially, Y/n was out matched. So heâd left.
Now he just wasnât sure what to say.
Heâd been unsure of what to say for years. Heâd had the same conversation with himself every night as he lay in bed, trying to find the words that explained why he left. Trying to explain what exactly âyouâre too coddlingâ actually meant beyond never letting him pay.
---
Y/n felt shifting below him, nudging him awake. He buried himself into his pillow a little more, frowning at how hard it was, before prying his eyes open.
âItâs been awhile,â a groggy voice spoke from above him.Â
The apprentice memokeeper sat up, groaning in pain as his back stretched out from the uncomfortably bent position heâd been in. Aventurine laughed, squeezing his hand. Y/n hadnât even noticed that he was holding it, but he quickly pulled it back and settled his hands in his lap.
âSorry, mustâve been really tired,â Y/n mumbled, yawning as he pressed himself back into his chair. âIâll go get a doctor.â
Aventurine grabbed his wrist as he tried to leave.
âCan we talk?â
âYou should get checked out, youâve been out for a while.â
âItâs not like Iâm hurt.â
âNo,â Y/n sighed, âyou were comatose. Iâm getting you a doctor, then we can talk.â
He kept his word.
A few minutes after the doctor left the room, Y/n re-entered with a tray of food. He sat back in his seat and set the tray on the bed table before pulling it up to Aventurine.
âIâm glad youâre okay,â Y/n said.
Aventurine nodded, staring at the food in front of him as they fell silent.
The small room was filled with the ticking of the clock on the wall and the faint sounds of footsteps outside. They were in the medical area on Penacony; Robin and Sunday were being treated in their rooms but Aventurine was stuck here.
Y/n found himself staring at the food on Aventurineâs tray as well.
âIâm sorry,â they both said. âWhy are you-â they continued, stopping when they both turned to look at each other at the same time.
Y/n looked tired, and Aventurine looked a little sickly. It was almost funny that they were looking at each other in such vulnerable states. Maybe if theyâd been able to see each other like this before, they wouldnât have broken up. If theyâd been able to understand that being able to protect one another was the only way they felt strong.
âI get it,â Aventurine said. âI always understood it⊠because I felt the same way,â his voice dropped to a whisper as he looked down to his hands in his lap.
âIt was just⊠so hard to feel like I couldnât do anything for you, like I was useless and maybe if we werenât us we could have worked through it together but everything you tried to do to make things better made me feel worse.â
They fell silent again, collecting their thoughts and picking their next words.
This was the most open theyâd ever been with each other.
âDid you find what you were looking for?â Aventurine asked suddenly.
âI did. Iâve been trying to think of how to tell you but it felt weird.â
âWhy?â Y/n looked up at him. âDid you want to tell me, I mean.â
âBecause I miss you.â
Aventurine nodded, then reached for their hand. He intertwined their fingers.
âKakavasha. Thatâs my name.â
A small smile tugged at Y/nâs lips.
âKakavasha,â he brought the back of the manâs hand to his lips and placed a gentle kiss against the worn skin, âI think itâs a beautiful name.â

đđđđđđ
đđđđđđđ coated in venom and whiskey fumes. Law listened, his expression unreadable, save for the faint narrowing of his eyes at the mention Corporate greed. Ruined lives. A trail of corpses left to rot in the name of misplaced justice. His thoughts moved swiftly, analyzing the gaps in this individual's story, weighing the truth against the bravado. The flicker of something familiarâa disdain for the corrupt, the entitled, the careless - but it was tempered by his natural skepticism. Was this cowboy just another self-styled vigilante with a hero complex, or was there more beneath the surface? a cold calculative golden gaze lingered on this man as though peeling back layers of flesh and metal to examine beneath. His mind flicked to the many wanted posters that carried his own face, plastered across towns. cities. and could remember the details of his description from the IPC's wanted list. not like it was his business to begin with. he had his fair share of .. events that lead to his name there  â law's  already  ever-present  frown seems  to  deepen  further,  the  tiredness  beneath  his  eyes  accentuated  by  the current situation.  Lawâs silhouette cut an imposing figure; long legs crossed at the knee, one gloved hand resting on the hilt of Kikoku at his side. His hat, with its spotted brim, cast a faint shadow over his sharp features, but his piercing gold-amber eyes gleamed from beneath it, steady and unflinching as they fixed on the man. Those eyes, flecked with the barest hint of irritation, scanned Boothill with the precision of a surgeon preparing for an incisionâtaking note of the sloppiness in his movements, the bravado in his speech, the glint of recklessness in his antics.
The click of metal against his temple had drawn no immediate reaction, save for a faint arch of his brow. his choice of words were . . . unique.  It was neither the first time heâd been threatened in such a manner, nor would it be the last. His vitiligo-marked skin, pale but speckled with the distinct patches around his hands and neck, contrasted with the darker ink of tattoos snaking up his forearms, his fingers adorned with the letters "đ« đŹ đš đ» đŻ" as if to punctuate the point that HE was no ordinary traveler. The sunlight  from the barâs grimy window caught the edge of his earringsâsmall gold loops swaying slightly as he tilted his head and let out a slow,  exhale through his nose.
â Southern hospitality . .  â he repeated, his voice low and even, â Is that what this is supposed to be? A gun to the temple and a lecture about morality ? â The syllables rolled off his tongue with a measured cadence - He watched the cowboy hop behind the bar with an indifferent expression, The glint of whiskey catching the light drew his attention briefly. He watched the amber liquid swirl in Boothill's glass, the way the man handled itâreckless, with a swagger born of arrogance and an unshakable belief in his own narrative. Law didnât need the cowboy's long-winded tirade to dissect the man's motivations; it was all there, plain as day, in his posture, his tone, and the way his fingers drummed a restless cadence against the bottleâs neck. That bottle, alone, was worth the price of a decent meal. Law's hand twitched, almost instinctively, ready to reach for the weapon at his side. but he hesitated. His instincts, honed over the years, told him to cut the man's heart out. It was an instinct he had long since learned to tame.
For the moment, at least.
â Rat you out ? â  he echoed, his voice now laced with quiet venom. The question lingered in the air, an unspoken challenge. â Do I look like someone who would sell you out to the nearest bounty hunter? â  he scoffed, inked fingers flexed at his side, knuckles cracking audibly as his grip on Kikoku tightened. pierced lips pressed into a thin line. as if a wanted man would be so foolish to apporach the people seeking them out. â So, no. I won't run. But if you plan on starting a shoot-out, make sure you donât miss â
It was a clear threat. Law's patience was running thin, but he had no intention of escalating things further. At least, not unless the cowboy made the first move.
âAin't you ever heard of 'southern hospitality'?â click, metal to his temple. â'Jus kiddin'. It does beg the question, though: why haven't you tried runnin' for your life yet? Ain't you heard of a wanted man on the prowl?â
Eyes traced the flow of his whiskey; recalled the slide, flames trailing its descent. Steadying his gaze, Boothill brought his attention back to the hat in question, his fingertips tracing the brim of his offered treasure, near relieved the stranger had refused. Impulse control wasn't one of the cowboy's powerhouses, the slightest glimmer inspiring a half-thought-out escapade, 'n that design? Sure, it didn't sparkle or shine, but boy if it wasn't a sight. In a motion fueled by clicks and clatter, Boothill climbed over the bartop, spied eagerly the spirits hidden from view, the fancy stuff the barkeep usually kept below 'em, nestled in that 'lil nook.
âGuy was one of them corporate shirtbags. Fudged up more lives than you or I can count, was on the path of fudgin' up some more. He considered himself a whistleblower, tryin' to make himself out to be some sorta' selfless acehole, but he only did it to save his own skin in a scheme he concocted. He sold off a lotta' land to a bunch'a no good people, even though there were plenty of good folk keepin' an eye on it. They wanted to build some free-housing, put up some shelters for the needy... 'n the duckstick sells it to a money-hungry millionaire who's wantin' to make himself a billionaire,â bottles clinked as uncareful hands waded through them, some smashing to the floor, pieces dancing around the glossy tiles. âOnce he got backlash for it, he opted to blame his 'peers,' the ones that shine his boots 'n serve him breakfast on a silverplate. Folks who're just tryin' to make themselves a livin', forced to be treated worse than dirt.â
With a wheeze of laughter and a holler of victory, a cork was popped.
âY'see, he's just one in a long line of aceholes I plan on puttin' in the ground. If it weren't for my shirty mornin', he would've gotten off better. Not alive, but he would'a gotten a few less holes in his skull. What's gonna' leak out, bits of his 'good nature'? He ain't ever had none of that.â
Dropping his head back, Boothill emptied the contents of the drink, down to the last sip. Down his throat, wetting his cogs, the fragility of his framework -- not as fragile as it could be, mind you. The sum Boothill accumulated wasn't a pretty one, 'n after going through all of that he got taken out by an open wire? He'd come back outta' spite.
âSo, after all'a that... you plan on ratting me out? Maybe start a shoot-out, see if you can get the big, bad wanted man. I'll warn ya: it won't be as easy as you're thinkin'.â

A Word of Advice to Our Trainees
There is general advice and exam specific advice (highlighted text has hyperlinks).
General Advice
This applies to preparing for local practice in Singapore. This has a slightly American slant (unfortunately the exams you will be sitting are British and Australian).
Refer to your JCST Seamless Programme Medical Microbiology Training Syllabus and use this as a checklist. Literally tick off each item as you go so that there are no gaps in your training experience.
During your lab training you will be used to seeing tests as individual items. However you must get your head round to seeing things also from the clinicianâs perspective. For a patient presenting with a particular syndrome which battery of tests are appropriate for that individual patient? Even for a single pathogen (particularly with viruses), there may be a choice of different tests that can be used. Which are most appropriate for that particular situation? This is one of the characteristics that distinguishes medical student knowledge from that of a microbiology trainee.Â
I suggest right at the beginning of training to get the fundemental cliinical perspective in place by reading Infectious Diseases A Clinical Approach by Yung et al. This is book is simple enough to be read in a fortnight. (Update Jan 2020: The new kid on the block is Comprehensive Review of Infectious Diseases by Spec A et al-which comes with an ebook with over 400 nicely written MCQs-unfortunately it probably canât be finished in 2 weeks).
Please get yourself a microbiology textbook and systematically read it from cover-to-cover. The most appropriate at time of writing is the latest edition of Konemanâs Color Atlas and Text book of Diagnostic Microbiology. You should try to complete reading this book within your first year of training.
This will not be enough for Virology. Some may find Khare Guide to Clinical and Diagnostic Virology too simple but I think reading it cover-to-cover is still useful for the 1st year trainee. For subsequent years you will need to read selectively  Loeffelholz Clinical Virology Manual for the lab perspective and maybe dip into Richman Clinical Virology for the clinical approach.
The following websites are useful
For parasitology
CDC DPDx
Gorgas Course Case of the Week
CREEPY DREADFUL WONDERFUL PARASITES
For mycology
Mycology Online
One of the first things you should acquaint yourself with is the local lab, and hospital, biosafety and disinfection/sterilization policies. For lab biosafety the freely available BMBL should suffice as a reference.
In practice, you can expect to give a lot of advice on specimen collection so please familiarize yourself with our Pathology Handbook (and know where to find it). For reference you should look at A Guide to Specimen Management in Clinical Microbiology.
You should also familiarize yourself with our lab manuals (and those of the labs you visit when posted out-ask yourself why they are doing things differently from us).
For technical details you should also refer to the Clinical Microbiology Procedures Handbook.
There are 2 books you will always be consulting as references
Mandell, Douglas, and Benettâs Principles and Practice of Infectious Diseases Use this when you are following up interesting cases or building up your case portfolio
ASM Manual of Clinical Microbiology Not to be used as your primary textbook!
The most useful journals to read are the Journal of Clinical Microbiology, Clinical Microbiology Newsletter and Clinical Microbiology Reviews.
Please also look at the Cumitech Collection and the CLSI documents.
For infection control I like Lautenbach Practical Healthcare Epidemiology. For more details you should be keeping up to date with journals like Infection Control and Epidemiology and the Journal of Hospital Infection.
By the time you start preparing for the Part 2 exams you should be dealing with, and reading up on, management issues.
You should have helped trouble shooting of QA failures, and be familiar with the other CLSI documents that are relevant to lab practice but not microbiology specific. You should have been involved in at least one CAP accreditation inspection and should have passed the CAP inspector course itself.
The most useful lab management textbooks are
Garcia Clinical Lab Management Wagar Lab Administration for Pathologists Varnadoe Medical Laboratory Management and Supervision
But you should also familarize yourself with the local regulations governing labs and your hospital policy for issues like staff discipline etcâŠ
Royal College of Pathologists (RCPath)
Look up the FRCPath training syllabus and tick off items to make sure you have covered all the ground. Look up past-year exams so that during your training you get a sense which lab situations you encounter are likely to come up as exam topics.
The principle of the postgraduate exams is they test you for your suitability to be a consultant. Because local practice is more lab-based, you will have to simulate the UK training environment.
A UK trainee may handle 5-10 positive blood cultures a day followed by a ward round that covers another 5 patients with infection issues like osteomyelitis or septic arthritis, AND a daily ICU round. They may encounter an infection control scenario every 1-2 weeks (needlestick, outbreak, staff exposure etcâŠ). For this, they are giving specific advice including further investigations, antibiotic choice, dosage (remember they are also advising on therapeutic drug moniitoring for vancomycin and aminoglycosides), infection control measures, etcâŠ
Even though we do not manage patients like they do in the UK you should build up your own personal case portfolio based on what you report in the lab. Do not stick to the minimum requirement in the syllabus! Actively follow up these cases and imagine how you would manage these patients if you were the doctor-in-charge.
Get the Oxford Handbook of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology, read it cover-to-cover and use it to guide your âmanagementâ. How would you adjust the dose for renal imparment? What alternative would you use if there was penicillin allergy?
UK trainees often refer to Kucerâs The Use of Antibiotics when finding out details about antibiotics so you should read it up for at least the common antibiotics that are commonly used (in Singapore and the UK).
Read through the editorials and guidelines in the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy going back at least 2 years (esp guidelines and new antibiotics). Check out the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy website.
Two books I find useful for selective reading are Fungal Infection: Diagnosis and Management by Richardson and Warnock. Lecture Notes on Tropical Medicine by Beeching and Gill
I have not got a copy of the Communicable Disease Control and Health Protection Handbook yet but it looks like it could be handy (Update Jan 2020: I have a copy now and it is useful for RCPath trainees).
You should also construct scenarios for infection control and outbreak management to supplement your actual experience. A lot of exposure management (e.g. VZV, measles, hepatitis B) can be found in the Green Book.
Go through the IPC in 5 videos. This is part of the trainee education program. Every UK trainee knows this material. So you should too.
Read through the editorials and guidelines in the Journal of Hospital Infection going back at least 2 years. Check out the Hospital Infection Society website.
You should subscribe (or have access ) to the UKNEQAS Microbiology Interpretive Comments.
You will also need to pretend that you are a Consultant Microbiologist practicing in the UK. Unlike the US, there is a lot more central control in the UK so all UK consultants receive and are expected to comply with the same set of guidance documents.
I could create my own list of useful websites where such documents may be found but microregistrar has already done it for me. PHE, HTM (e.g. dealing with water  supply in hospitals) are particularly relevant. I donât know if questions ever came out from the DH Building Notes, but it may be useful to know what relevant documents are in there (like HBN 00-09).
Donât forget to scour the RCPath website and even read the bulletin going back 2 years for any material that may be relevant (like audit reports, documents or discussion of current college issues).
And donât forget the UK follows ISO15189 for lab accreditation so you probably should know a bit about UKASÂ (How would you perform measurement of uncertainty for a PCR test?).
In my opinion, the FRCPath is quite a straightforward exam, and paradoxically quite a difficult exam to pass at the same time. They are not likely to ask anything a District General Hospital Microbiologist will not encounter, so no exotic bugs here. If you are fully involved in daily lab activities you may even be better prepared to sit the exam purely on accumulated experience rather than mugging standard textbooks. But as you can see from this list-if you do not know what to spend your energy on, fail to ensure you accumulate appropriate experience, or if you do not read the right material you could end up with close to zero exam-specific knowledge.
(Update Jan 2020: Infectious Diseases, Microbiology and Virology: A Q&A Approach for Specialist Medical Trainees is a new MCQ book which is useful for RCPath candidates. I am not that keen on the format of the MCQs (prefer Spec et al) but the selection of topics will give you some idea of the domain knowledge college examiners are looking for).
Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA)
The RCPA seems to have changed to be more similar to the RCPath in the sense that they are now testing more practical consultant competence and less esoteric knowledge.
Therefore go through the same process as for the FRCPath.
Investigate the RCPA website for the training syllabus and other issues that Australian pathologists are currently grappling with.  For Part 2, relevant issues may not be obviously microbiological (like how do you handle bullying in the lab?). The RCPA actually put a lot of training material onsite including the National Microbiology Webinar series (need to be RCPA registered trainee for access). It goes without saying you should go through all of them.
Be aware they have their own Antibiotic Guidelines Book.
Other Australia specific websites (equivalent to those mentioned for RCPath) are
Australian Committee on Safety and Quality in Health Care
Department of Health
NATA
NHMRC
Australian Immunisation Handbook
Australian STI Guidelines
SA Health Antimicrobial Guidelines
ASHM testing portal
And like their marsupials, Australian microbiology has its own distinctive flavour. e.g. Legionella longbeachae, Cryptococcus gattii, Mycobacterium ulcerans, Hendra virus etc... So be familiar with whatâs happening Down Under.
Hmmm...this turned out much longer than I expected. Hope it wonât scare off any prospective trainees...
P.S. There is also the SGH Department of Microbiology training Handbook.

Looking for iPhone boardviews that FlexBV can read? Have a look over at BadCaps (Registration probably required to download). FlexBV R1115 onwards can read these files fairly well, though some are missing data, but that's not FlexBV's fault.
You can find additional boards and schematics by googling for the board code and 'boardview' eg 820-00165 boardview
Note: Boardviews and schematics are intellectual property owned by the respective parties, as such it is not legal to distribute them with FlexBV any more than it would be to distribute SpaceX raptor engine plans with AutoCAD (no matter how impressive that would be).
FlexBV is designed to be a multiformat usage boardview application that can accept files from many different sources.
FlexBV interlinks boardviews and schematics saving you the hassle of manually cross-referencing, to provide a smoother repair process, leaving you to keep your mind focused on finding the fault.
'Switching to FlexBV will recoup the cost of its licence within a single business day'
Previously most boards only required schematics to assist with repairs, the parts were labelled on the PCB silkscreen and the board was the literal boardview. Over time with increasing part densities silk screening became impractical and now frequently non-existent on devices such as Macbook and iPhone boards.
To faciliate locating and identifying parts, boardview files are now generated; a modern replacement for the silkscreen layer of past with the immediate advantage of being able to locate the part quickly instead of manual visual searching.
FlexBV ties together the logical schematic representation and the new boardview files, in to a visual cross referenced system making it extremely easy to see the correlation between the schematic, parts, nets and board
You're a professional repair agent who performs board level electronics repairs on devices with access to boardviews and schematics
You're part of an assembly or rework team with an in-house, or contracted system
You currently use OpenBoardView, or Landrex but want the PDF cross referencing

Aug 2016
A year ago, someone came to our hospital. He's a new staff. Filipino, so it wasn't that hard to start conversations with. He's still adjusting to the workplace. Since he's new, almost everyone's talking about him from where he came from, how old is he, which area he would be assigned because at that time he can be seen in the ward then sometimes he's with the IPC. Eventually, he was able to adjust and our first encounter was when he noted that the ER and ICU staff who attended the code in our isolation room didn't wear n95 mask which caused me to be reprimanded because he told that, there were no n95 mask in the room and as head of the unit it's under my responsibility to provide the mask. It was his head who reprimanded me. After that, since I'm kind of reactive that time, I was irritated at him for telling his head, which is actually his job. We settled the incident but I was aloof with him due to that incident. There were encounters in between, next was when the MOH made rounds, it was me and him assigned to explain isolation precautions. I helped him to finish what he needs to say. He said thank you. Days passed and I was transferring a patient to the x-ray department, unfortunately, the patient is post hip replacement and she's big, add to that, she's VIP. We had problem during transfer. He's in the same floor and I called him for help. That time we're already okay. I can ask him for work favors and he was kind enough to do things for everyone in the hospital. There was a pageant that time and we need votes to win, he told me that he voted for me, though until now I don't believe that he did because he probably voted for eveyone else too. That time he's trying to get close, there were chats, randomly he'll send me his pictures which annoys me a lot. I was just kind enough to reply to his messages and I really find it unfair if I don't reply because I'm someone who'd want someone to talk to me because they're giving me their time and I'm not doing anything so why not reply, right? So that went on for quite sometime. At the night of the pageant he was asking me to send him a picture of me, all dressed up and prepared for the event. He said he just want to see the one he voted for. I refused, I found it creepy him asking for my picture. Still he continued to chat, send me voice messages of him singing and sending me his pictures. New year's eve 2015, he's chatting again while I was preparing food for everyone. Then he suddenly made a video call, I canceled it, he asked why, I said I don't take video calls. He called up my flatmate and made a video call, I closed the door and didn't open it till they're finished. We just chat until we fell asleep. I didn't told anyone that we're chatting that much. At work we're like a cat and dog fighting. I'm hitting him and always irritated while talking to him. He likes to pester me at work, my staff can attest to it. Though I try to refuse chatting /talking to him, I'm too shy to do so because I know he's wasting his time talking to me and I like talking to someone as well so I didn't told him to stop until he asked me something. January 3, we were chatting and he suddenly dropped the conversation ender. He was asking if he could court me. I was like, dude, you only knew me for how many days? And you want to court me, are you crazy? I said no. That time, I also like someone else so I said no. He told me I love you in his dialect which I had to google because I can't understand it. I said no. It was a short time for him to discern that he likes me to the point that he decided to court me. He just said, in time if we'll have a chance again, he hopes that we're still single. I just said, we could only be friends and we'll see. The conversations got awkward and we seldom chat after that. At work, I was avoiding him, I know it's easy for him but for me I really, really felt awkward, I didn't tell anybody about this. So it was obvious that I'm avoiding him. But it was getting obvious also to everyone that he likes me a lot. Then he started to address me "friend" . I started talking more about the guy I like, even he's in front of me. Months went like that, he's still initiating a conversation, I reply but less than before and there was a big issue which included him, which made me more aloof to him. And he was being talked about that he like so many girls in the hospital. Which was a turn off, he has a vice also so another turn off. But he continued to message once in a while, sending me voice messages while he's singing, initiate conversation at work, listen to my rants, sitting with me if I'm irritated and about to cry. He really stayed as a friend to me and to everyone else. June 22, during a meeting, I received a message from the other guy, he kinda said we'll stay friends and I need to find someone who'll be with me in our supposed to be trips. We had plans and those were canceled already because he said so. It made me sad, I was also talking to him that day because of the meeting and he pissed me off that day that's why he's saying sorry. Suddenly, I told him that I was sad and I need ice cream. At night we had a lecture and he brought me ice cream. We were chatting during the lecture, he said he left the ice cream at my unit's refrigerator. When I saw it, there were too much ice cream. I know I'm sad but I know also that I won't finish it all. He asked me what happened, told him that I was friendzoned (hate that word). After that we talked and chat more. It may seem rebound to everyone but from the time I told him to not court me, he stayed. Despite the issues, other girls, hitting and being aloof, he was still there. He waited for his turn, tho we became impatient (because there were other girls too! đĄ) I gave it to him because I think he deserved it, and he has a point. Though he was linked to other girls, I'm the only one he asked to court and he waited for even if I like someone else. I really felt he's serious with me. From chat, he started to make calls, that time video call and calls by FB were about to be ban in KSA. So he can't call me, he spent load to call me after work. We try to find ways to make video calls eventually. So after two weeks, he said he has a project on the holidays (eid), I asked him what it is, he said first it was a secret but he's afraid that I'll get angry. He told me that he'll call my parents to ask if it's ok for them that he'll court me.
PS: This was written AUG 2016. More than a year now and we broke up already.

Notes- So you got Arrested; multiple & gn!Reader
Return to File
Recovery date: July 6th, 2024
Description: Hello I was watching this tiktok https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTNM784R8/ and I was thinking, what if the reader and their two friends got arrested in hsr like who would they try calling.
Notes: This work was recovered in conjunction with an anonymous researcher, we thank them for their contributions.
Back to directory
It depends entirely on why you got arrested
If you want to be bailed out no questions asked, Qingque, no matter where you are sheâs choice number one
Or Sparkle
Planet specific, Sampo for Jarilo VI and Siobhan for Penacony (she may give then a bit of a lecture but if they don't want to talk about it she won't ask)
If it's something like getting arrested at a protest then Seele on Jarilo, Guinaifen on the Luofu, and Gallagher on Penacony
Now if you fucked up bad enough that the IPC got involved I feel like if you have a good relationship with Aventurine he'd help you get off easy, dude knows that sometimes shit happens
Otherwise good luck, maybe Jing Yuan or Asta could make you some kind of deal but honestly if you committed a crime bad enough to catch the IPCs attention you should just call up Kafka
Although we have seen that the IPC can be petty
If it's a petty thing, I.e IPC is abusing power, Jing Yuan, Asta, or Yukong will stand up for you
Hertaâs space station isn't on this list because I'm convinced if it's not serious Arlan would just let you off with a warning
If it is serious, enough so that you have to face Asta, good luck
So far this is for like, petty crimes
If we're talking murder Firefly/Sam would be the best for no questions asked
Kafka wouldn't let you live it down, Blade would just solve it with more murder (no witnesses), and Silverwolf would just delegate to someone else
She would, however, wipe any digital proof of your crime

ITEC801 Introduction to Distributed Systems Assignment 1 Total Marks: 20 Due date: Monday 2nd October 2017 Question 1 (5 marks) Case Study 1 Choose either BitTorrent or Skype. Describe the architecture of the one you choose. What are the peers and super peers? What are the protocols used? Where is information stored? Note: proprietary aspects might be difficult to find out, but you should make a best attempt to do so. (2-4 pages, 800-1,500 words) Question 2 (5 marks) Case Study 2 Choose either Mercurial or Git â programming code repositories. Describe how your choice works differently to centralized systems such as CVS and Subversion. Answer the same questions as in question 1. (2-4 pages, 800-1,500 words) Question 3 (10 marks) Protocol Design Hostnet is a distributed system that hostels have decided to set up to manage bookings. They have decided not to use a centralized system, but to keep booking data themselves. Each hostel also wants to use their existing systems which differ in operating systems (Linux, MacOS, Windows) and versions. End users use an app that connects to a hostel system near them. How can the system best provide this initial connection information? Once connected to an initial system, a user will search for a hostel at their destination. Consider how to arrange systems as an overlay, is this structured or unstructured? Systems can also come and go. What happens to the overlay when this happens? Design application protocols to disseminate system availability information. Also design protocols to enable the user to search and make bookings. From the characterization of protocols in the lecture of IPC decide which combination of attributes you need, that is text- or binary-based, etc. You need to consider Salzer and Reedâs End-to-End argument â how much of the reliability factor can you leave to transport protocols and how much must be handled at the application layer. Your protocol must be designed to be future-proofed so that new services can be added and existing message formats can be changed. Now you need to cover the three aspects of protocol design: Syntax â the format of the messages Semantics â what do the fields in the message mean and error handling if that canât be fulfilled Timing â coordination between sender and receiver covering timeout situations. For syntax, such formalisms as EBNF could be used, although not required. For semantics, we could use formalisms such as denotational and axiomatic semantics, however, they would require a whole course to explain. The clue is in axiomatic. You can informally describe the axioms â the assumptions that are made for a correct system. For example a type given to a field is an axiom. âThis field must be a stringâ. A tighter axiom would be âThis field must be an ASCII stringâ â that is rather than EBCDIC or other character encoding. If you do not have this character type restriction, you would have to dynamically type the string with another field âstring_typeâ which tells the receiver to interpret it as ASCII, EBCDIC, or UTF. This is what semantics is about â how the receiver interprets the message. For protocols, we also need timing â that is, how long do we wait until we can assume messages have been lost. You can express these with the timing diagrams we introduced in the IPC lecture. (5 to 10 pages) Submission Please submit assignments as PDF documents to TurnItIn. Marking Guidelines The following criteria will factor in the assessment of this assignment: âą understanding of the subject matter; âą relevance of answer written and of the arguments proposed; âą planning and organization; âą logical coherence; âą critical evaluation; âą comprehensiveness of research; âą evidence of synthesis; âą innovation / creativity / originality; âą utilization of proper academic [or other] style (e.g. citation of references) ?wherever required. The language used with appropriate spelling / grammar / punctuation must be of a sufficient standard to permit assessment of the above criteria. Plagiarism You should be well aware of the Universityâs plagiarism policy. In this assignment, you must be particularly careful to avoid plagiarising your articles or any other sources of information. If you wish to directly quote any portion of another document, you must enclose your quotation in quotation marks and immediately following the quotation you must identify your source. It is important that you do not attempt to write your answers by pasting together pieces of text that you find on the Internet. You need to write your own words and phrases that express your own ideas. You must also list all sources used in your answer/essay in a bibliography at the end of the answer/essay.
