I was thinking about how allot of legends of Saint Patrick are basically him demonstrating that the Christian god is more powerful than local pagan deities to get converts and it made me think of like anime community power scalers and it made me think of these memes to create as hypothetical memes in early Middle Ages Irish social media:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I apologize if there’s anything wrong with the Irish language one colonialism did a number on it even in Ireland so it didn’t exactly survive in the diaspora for me so I used google translate 😅

for the record, am i, a non-brit, personally shocked and a bit sad queen elizabeth ii is dead after reigning for 70 years? yes.
but do i understand the very real horrors the british morarchy enacted on millions of people across continents, how the scars haven’t healed for the families and descendants who lived through them, and how unstable britain itself is gonna be right now in a post-brexit world with liz “we import most of our cheese” truss trying to weasel out of a cost of living crisis brought on by a spineless tory goverment? also yes.
meme to the contents of your heart, tumblr.

honestly whenever i see diana (or meghan) being brought up against the royal family i get so mad… like sure i get liking them and being mad at their mistreatment but it really doesn't hold a candle to the real atrocities of colonialism and at this point just serves as a distraction… like i'm sorry but the royal family isn't evil because they were cruel to two individuals, they're evil because of centuries of abuse towards the people they colonised/the poorer people in their own countries. it's a political injustice, and people treating it like celebrity gossip are just insensitive.

What the hell is going on; 8-9th September 2022 edition
- Combination of Tumblr and Twitter polls announce Sans (a character from the games Undertale and Deltarune) the winner of the Tumblr Sexyman poll between him and Reigen, a character from the anime “Mob Psycho 100”. #Sanssweep
- Toby Fox, creator of Undertale and Deltarune wrote a fan fiction about Sans victory over Reigen, making Reigen cannon in the Undertale/Deltarun universe.
- Pokemon Company announced a new upcoming Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet “Klawf”.
- Queen Elizebeth of UK dies at age 96.
- The Crab rave meme is often used as celebration, with Tumblr celebrating the Queen’s death and Klawf getting wrapped up in the wave of crave rave memes.
- The beloved meme cat Thurston Waffles passed away :(
- “Destiel” the pairing of Dean and Castiel from the TV show “Supernatural”. When this ship was announced as cannon, Vladimir Putin resigned as President of Russia. Many are drawing comparisons between a monumental Tumblr event and the removal of a country’s head from power as the wheels of history repeating the motion.
note that Destiel and Putin resigning as PRESIDENT of Russia happened in November 2020 - Putin is still currently Prime Minister of Russia
- September 8th is Star Trek Day, in which a character called Data references the “Irish Reunification of 2024″. Many see the Queen’s death as phase 1 of this.
- It is US Senator Bernie Sander’s 81st birthday. Happy Birthday Bernie!
- Splatoon 3, a game featuring intelligent aquatic wildlife having built a society, releases on September 9th
- Youtube star Trisha Payta gives birth 3 minutes after the Queen dies.
- A Pine Marten, a small stout, has been sighted in London for the first time in 100 years
- Kiwi Farms, a social media site for extremists, “worst place on the internet”, has shut down
Im sorry but I don't have links to all of these, this is just a summary of what is going on
I’m glad that folks ARE questioning and fact checking this summary, it’s good to fact check anything these days and that has prompted me to clarify some parts of the post while others are updating the information. There’s a lot going on in the world right now and to view it solely through tumblr lenses means y’ won’t get the whole story. I hope this post, while not 100% correct, updates and explain some parts of current events to lead them into doing their own independent investigation into the full story.
EDIT 2023: happy 1 year anniversary to this post. What a lot has happened in one year.

Honestly though, while I 100% get the hatred of Irish-Americans for a variety of reasons that time Bernadette Devlin reamed out Boston for being racist she was right to say it and also my father abusing ancestry.com I find it really interesting that someone would think that we're only into in the radical history "for the meme" and not because the majority of us literally exist due to a colonialist genocide and that we might have an interest in seeing the battered, fractured country our ancestors fled from be whole and self-governed again in what would be just a tiny bit of restitution from centuries of oppression, but no. Cait #17. Personally, I think that outfit and look should score higher as well as a few others which are way better than the first 10. Still, she made the list which is good to see.
93 Of The Best Oscars Dresses Of All Time
https://www.elle.com/uk/fashion/celebrity-style/g26388237/best-oscar-dresses-ever/
Thanks for the message, Anon. 😃 I loved her 2020 ensemble… whilst never losing sight of fashion sense’s subjectivity (a sentiment that really hits home this London Fashion Week 😖).
Here’s Number 17:

Designer: Valentino / Year: 2020
Numbers 1 through 5 are under Elle’s text. Numbers 6 through 16, and 18 through 93, live in the link.
93 Of The Best Oscars Dresses Of All Time
From Barbra Streisand's exquisite Arnold Scassi pantsuit to Halle Berry in Elie Saab, we've collected the best Oscars dresses of all time.
For many, the Oscars awards ceremony is hotly anticipated for its choice of winners. Cinephiles discuss intently if Brendan Fraser's comeback role in The Whale will nab him Best Actor In A Leading Role, or if Paul Mescal will pip him to the post. Others tune in for the meme-making cultural moments, be it a slap heard around the world, or a calamitous misreading of 'Moonlight' as 'La La Land' (it could happen to anyone, right?).
But for us, and we suspect you too, it's the sport of red carpet dressing that keeps us coming back for more. Having the ability to promote (or demote) a near-unknown to a leading lady in the blink of a ballgown, the power of a stellar styled look cannot be understated. Be it Audrey Hepburn in Givenchy in 1954, Michelle Williams in Vera Wang in 2006, or Lupita Nyong'o in Prada there have been some truly marvellous -dare we say history-making - gowns worn by the best actors in the world on the night of the Academy Awards.
So devoted are we to the best dressed stars of the red carpet, ahead of the 96th Academy Awards (taking place on March 10 2024) we've gone through each and every one of them to find the 93 best Oscar dresses ever worn. You're welcome!

Remember… Irish actress Caitriona Balfe looked stunning — as per usual — on the red carpet at the 2020 Oscars in Valentino Haute Couture! The 40-year-old newlywed wore a unique outfit that involved a dress and a blouse when she walked the carpet at her first Academy Awards. She stunned in the black, fishtail-style gown which fell straight down her body in an extremely flattering style. But the strapless dress wasn’t the star of the show: it was the sheer pink blouse she wore over the top! The high-neck blouse was made of a very light material, and fell down to her hips. It also featured a gorgeous, oversized bow which she wore to the left of her neck. Stunning! The model-turned-actress accessorized with silver stud earrings and a matching silver ring and bracelet. Caitriona slicked her beautiful brunette tresses back into a tight bun near the nape of her neck, and polished her look with a bold red lipstick, and red nail polish. What a star! — Hollywood Life

I know that Ireland wasn't actually a major player in the Napoleonic Wars but also I feel like it's kind of odd how it almost never gets brought up in media about the time. Like you'd think that with the amount of media about Bonaparte and his rise to power there'd be something about that period that has somebody like Arthur O'Connor or Edward FitzGerald or Wolfe Tone in it at least in the background, and you'd think that with the way that Castlereagh played so large a role in negotiating peace in Europe and was so instrumental in securing Wellington the position he had, a lot of things would make mention of his past and his reputation, but... they don't really, and the United Irishmen hardly ever come up in Napoleonic media. And I guess it doesn't really matter but it's just. there's often a noticeable hole there where they should be that I notice when I watch things about the time period and I don't like it.

Nunya can you explain this Twitter meme? https://x.com/AmericanaEthos/status/1726098935662719272?s=20
Like, I black and went to predominantly black schools. And they couldn’t stfu about civil rights and slavery.
Like no poor, marginalized, or even working class American think our country is perfect. Is wrong to believe this leftists memes are very classist? Our textbook acknowledges the terrible ( that career politicians allowed minus their own evil shit) constantly.
Did these marxists sleep through history class? Like, American slavery is the only type of slavery talk about in school that I had a little mid fuck after getting online and learning about the Dahomey.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I legitimately don't know who the not Superman dude is, but I can guess given the context here.
I think you're probably right about them having slept through every US history class they ever took.
I learned "Trail of Tears" in elementary school, same with slavery, and a few other of the less than savory parts of US history then as the years wore on the lessons got more and more involved and graphic since watching "Roots" in 2nd grade is a good way to traumatize kids so you know they moved in a more age appropriate direction.
I feel like the majority of the people that do this kind of meme fall in to a few different categories.
Not American and ignorant of what is taught here beyond what they see on twitter (things like Texas/Florida won't be teaching about slavery) and they're trying for viral fame.
Slept through history and got lots of F's as a result.
Didn't sleep through history and have selective memory
Did well in history, but don't feel like the subject was given enough attention.
Which is a valid opinion but people need to realize that there's only so much time to teach these things because other things need to be taught as well. So be glad that unlike me you have easy access to all of the information in the world you could want and you can learn more on your own.
They teach the history warts and all, you're likely to hear about Rosa Parks, Emmet Till, Ruby Bridges, and the Tulsa race massacre.
Rosewood massacre, Ocoee massacre, various tests before you could vote
This one is pretty easy so far. (just saw a longer version, it gets complicated)

Louisiana one here on the other hand... You got this if you couldn't prove at least a 5th grade education. 5th grader that passes this should directly to MIT.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
very few people regardless of race are gonna be doing well on this.
But ya if we're doing racial issues it's all taught, most all at least. How much time did you see get spent on the people that built the railroads, the majority of whom if it was going west to east were Chinese and east to west Irish and all of whom were treated as disposable.
The 'if you die I can hire another man, but I gotta buy another mule' attitude.
Fuck I'm in CA and we did not spend a whole lot of time on that one, mostly that it was dangerous work and lots of people died.
I think at this point the best response you could give someone that makes or posts a tweet like that would be
"your abject failure to learn as a student does not mean the information wasn't taught"
(If you feel like hurting your brain I'm gonna link a few of the "literacy" tests)
Mississippi (not terrible)
Louisiana (whole thing, good luck)
Alabama (starts out easy enough, didn't skim too far so might turn incredibly difficult)
If you do any of these let me know how you did please, these things are insane. _________________
Hope this wasn't too long winded, tried to keep it mostly brief
