I would actually be devastated if buddie's first kiss happened while they were seeing other people.
I don't want that.
I don't want that at all.

I’ve seen so much shitty ship content in the marble hornets fandom since I’ve joined that I’m starting to get sick of shipping as a whole, ngl. I’m staring hard at the main contenders here, Jaylex, Brim, and Jam. Brilex is another ship I see frequently fucked up a lot too, but yea whatever. I’m not condemning people who get it wrong because I’m not the goddamn messiah of characterization either but there’s gotta be a line to be drawn, right? like with all the absurd vaguely uncensored abused x abuser content associated with jaylex, the uncomfortable brim content where every instance of hoody fucking up Tim's life on **PURPOSE** is ignored for the sake of a cuddle or for the sake of sexualization, THE HEAVY OVER-SEXUALIZATION OF BRILEX, and the fully fleshed out personalities of Tim and Jay being washed away and sacrificed for mischaracterized, stereotypical, romantic interactions that really isn’t something the character would ever do but rather something the author wants them to act out. <- honestly the last bit can be applied to all other ships too! And it isn’t my only gripe with Jam specifically but I feel like my specific criticism on it deserves another post that will probably never come haha.

thought of the day:
I think the reason I don't enjoy a lot of fandom meta anymore is that it's so preoccupied with pathologising everything characters do. Every negative reaction is a sign of trauma, every bad decision is motivated by deep psychological distress or abuse. I enjoy deconstructing characters just as much as the next person but people are more than their mental health diagnoses, and characters definitely should be.
Sometimes they make bad choices because it makes for better story. Sometimes they are unhinged because it is more interesting. Sometimes genre dictates that characters bounce back from events that might traumatise a real person (and also, on average it takes a lot more to traumatise a real person than fandom seems to believe), and that is okay because we're going for a good story and a dramatic time instead of watching a character go to therapy.
Like, it's fine to identify with a character's issues and if you like that sort of thing, it's also fine to put your own issues on a character in fic, that's part of what fic is for, but for god's sake do it with a thimbleful of intent. A crumb of recognition for what the character is about. Maybe a soupcon of genre awareness so you know when a text intends for a character to be deeply affected and when a world-shattering horror is just gonna be Tuesday for them.
I don't have a further point. I'm just ruminating. But even so, I'm tired of this "send every character to therapy" mindset whittling away all the rough edges and drama that make characters gritty and textured and enthralling.

Ngl, I usually get disinterested in romantic fanfics/fancomics/etc... after the two main characters get together because to me the fun is all the shenanigans that come before that point... Ask-spiderpool is one of the only exceptions I've found because everything after is still so interesting !! The drama ! The miscommunications ! These boys still have a long way to go and the plot is still alive and well and I am here for it <3 You just make them so interesting. They have so many issues. I love them
GOD they have so many issues...
i think i see so often this sentiment that like, once the couple gets together that's it, and they're healed. they're sorted – i don't think humans operate that way - and god, characters like wade and peter? dear god. these guys????????????????
these guys...

Guillermo "letting the sun shine on Nandor's coffin" "I keep stakes and holy water in my minifridge if I ever feel disrespected" "I'm faking being trapped in a cage and using what I hear Nandor say to convince him to not kill me and also lying about being hypnotized" "escaping from a room where I could take a well deserved nap to use the cloak of duplication to talk to some random woman and calling Nandor my best friend after being locked up by him twice" "forcing Nandor to come home from the Wellness center even if at that point it was delusional not harmful" "fighting him because he wants to leave me and I have to show that he would be nothing without me" "enabling him to pursue a clearly flawed process of getting a lover and standing by him morphing Marwa into someone else and only getting mad when he interferes with my relationship" "calling the vampires my family after all the mistreatment I suffered and the innumerable deaths and agony I witnessed in the last decade and wanting to be exactly like them" de la Cruz isn't as much of a victim as people make him out to be, he literally quits being familiar adjacent at the end of season 4 because he’s BORED, my man is a menace he's a cold blooded serial killer that would sell out anyone anytime, that after being accepted by his biological family of vampire hunters for being gay and after Nadja contemplates killing them he still chooses the vampires over them, he's insane, he knows his situation and how bad it looks and he doesn’t care because he’s being himself in the most truthful way. this is who he is.
