I don’t think Bruce has DID, nor will I ever attempt to write him having DID, BUT LET ME TALK ABOUT SOMETHING REAL QUICK

Bruce has a number of alternate personas. The most popular (to my knowledge) being Batman, Bruce (the truest form of himself), Brucie, and Matches. I know there are others, or at least I think there are, but let’s just ignore that for now.

When Bruce is playing into a separate persona, it very much is not an act. He embodies that version of himself /completely/. He is not faking his actions, his words, his mannerisms. It’s just naturally how /that/ version of himself acts. Brucie is a klutz and trips over his own feet? It’s not Bruce pretending to trip. He genuinely wasn’t looking where he was going and went crashing into the nearest guest, causing champagne that spill onto their suit. Matches has the thickest Gotham accent and is sometimes unintelligible? Bruce can’t tamp it down, it’s just /how he talks/.

ALL THIS TO SAY, Bruce is bad at communicating. It’s difficult for him to talk to his family and express his feelings. But his other personas? Some of them are real good at it. Some are a lot more open than baseline Bruce. He is /in/ that headspace so fucking hard, things that are difficult as Bruce are easy now.

But imagine his kids don’t get it. They assume that Bruce’s personas are purely faked. That Bruce is an A+ actor, and maybe he is, but they don’t understand that when Bruce is using a persona, he is also /genuinely/ being that version of himself. So if Brucie cries about how much he loves his children, how he misses them and appreciates them? They assume it’s just for show. But no. Bruce really does miss his kids, and it’s only when he’s not /Bruce/ that he’s able to show it.

and he takes the opportunity to do so, much to megumi’s surprised and distaste—ignoring megumi’s pawing at the hem of his shirt, impatient, yuuji looks over his shoulder to you and poses, “can i ask you something?” 

your eyebrows raise in surprise. megumi’s raise in suspicion, petulantly coming down from the high of making out with yuuji, and craning his head back to look at you. your eyes shift to his briefly, and then back to yuuji’s, almost embarrassed, and when he looks at megumi, there’s a slight blush at the tips of his ears. cute. you two are very cute, and yuuji likes it a lot. it confirms to him exactly what he wants to happen tonight. 

“you remember how i told you about yuuta-senpai? and how he’s my best friend, but when he started dating inumaki-senpai, i kinda hated him because they spent so much time together?” yuuji recounts casually, biting back a grin when megumi huffs. you nod, evidently confused, but yuuji continues, slowly reaching a hand up megumi’s arm, over his shoulder, up his jaw, until he reaches the shell of his ear, then asks, “did you ever feel that way about me?”

he can see the shock on your face, hear it from megumi when he gasps a bit and pulls away from yuuji’s touch, “what kind of a—”  

but yuuji doesn’t want to hear his side of the story right now. in fact, if all goes his way, he won’t be hearing much of anything from megumi tonight—he reaches his hand back up to pinch at megumi’s ear, and hushes him, “i’m just asking her, meg. she’s my girlfriend now, too. don’t i get to know these things?” 

your mouth is slightly ajar, and yuuji chuckles. you’re so quiet, he’s beginning to think he’s scared you, but soon, you smile, sweet, and gentle, and he can’t even blame megumi for fawning over you since middle school. “i—i didn’t hate you yuuji,” you reply, “i thought—think—you’re good for megumi. i just wanted him to be happy, and you make him happy.” 

yuuji hums. no wonder you two never got together before. “so you’re the self-sacrificing type, too, huh?” he smiles, far less innocently than you might think, “maybe i should have gotten you and yuuta-senpai together, instead.” 

you look like you’re about to refute, but megumi pulls back again, throughly annoyed when he interjects, “what the hell are you—”

but yuuji is quick to move his hand from his ear to his throat, pinching his fingers around his neck with just enough pressure to stutter and silence him. 

“i’m still not talking to you,” he reminds megumi, eyes sharp. he squeezes around megumi’s neck a bit tighter, before turning his attention back to you, “was he always like this? always biting before you can bark? must have been kind of annoying to deal with, huh?” 

your eyes widen, bambi-like and yuuji almost coos. from where you’re sitting against the headboard, you can’t see megumi’s face completely, just a sliver of his cheek, but you can probably tell by the reddening skin around his neck and ears that yuuji’s not just choking him for show. 

“i—uh… it’s not like that, it’s just… yuuji you’re gonna hurt him…”

but, you should also be able to tell that megumi’s not fighting it either. 

“you’re always so worried about him,” yuuji pushes megumi back against the pillows, paying no mind to his panting, simply ordering, “stay down.” 

yuuji then reaches out for you instead, gently pulling your body towards in him stark contrast to how he’d treated megumi a moment ago—twirling you as best he can while you’re kneeling on the mattress, maneuvering your body so that you’re straddling megumi and yuuji’s back is pressed against yours. 

yuuji hears you gasp, ever so lightly, when you inadvertently press your crotch against megumi’s. he almost wants to watch you two do that instead, but right now he’s a man on a mission, so instead, he puts his hands on his hips to keep you still, “see—he can take it. he even likes it.” 

you raise a hand to reach out to megumi, but yuuji stops you, forcing your back flush against his front, and caging you in with his arms and resting his chin against your shoulder. he turns his head to kiss you on the cheek, slow, once, and then again, and then against your earlobe, “you wanna try?” 

“try—what, choking him?” you ask, trying to turn your head to face yuuji, but he keeps it steady, keeps you facing megumi. 

“it’s not like you’re gonna hurt him,” yuuji hums against your skin, trails open-mouthed kisses along your neck. “it’ll feel good, i promise.”  

“well, uh... megumi, do you—”  

but yuuji raises a hand to squish your cheeks together before you can finish, turns your head to him and tuts, “i’m telling you it’s okay. megumi didn’t ask you before he asked me out, right? you don’t need his permission for everything, princess.” 

yuuji’s not just leveraging your feelings against each other now—now it’s sexual knowledge too, all the fantasies megumi has indulged him in about you, all the kinks he has that you’re clueless to. yuuji knows that despite the history you and megumi have, he’s the bridge between you now—and right now, yuuji wants you on his side.

megumi’s probably not far from cumming in his boxers at this point, and you’re not far from helping yuuji make him do worse. 

“come on, princess,” yuuji smiles, pressing a kiss to your cheek before looking at megumi, “you gonna help me put a leash on him?” 

it’s an invitation and a threat, this you seem to understand. you can say yes to yuuji, say yes to having megumi between you two tonight, say yes and have a little bit of power; or you can say no, and be on the receiving end of punishment. 

yuuji almost thinks you’ll choose the latter out of loyalty, out of devotion to your best friend, out of shyness and inexperience in taking what you want, but you’re not just megumi’s anymore—your his girl now, too, and you make it known when your soft hand crawls up megumi chest and to his neck, and hesitantly wraps around his throat. 

tonight, megumi’s yours and yuuji’s. 

“good girl,” yuuji grins, wicked with intent when he presses a kiss to the back of your neck, “now lets have some fun with him.”

actually incredibly funny to me that ranpos entire thing centres on how his intelligence is not because of an ability or any other great thing, its just him. hes entirely, completely, inarguably human. and Yet, when it comes to dazai, so many people are Desperate that there just Has to be another explanation. his intelligence cant just be that hes unusual, no it must be a marker of separation, of difference so great it disallows the reality of his humanity.

do you think that both of you think about the world and your lives the way that you write? As in, are the inner thought styles of mike and will the same as the way you guys think about the world and have thoughts, not in subject matter obviously but in style? Like the highly detailed thinking that observes every tiny thing and notes down every aspect of each choice and action and surroundings? Or did you both adopt this as a way of characterising mike and will as teenagers?

ooh this is such an interesting ask and i have actually thought about this quite often over the last couple years, and we’ve talked about it a couple times as well!! for me, the way i write is often really similar to the way my thoughts work, mostly for larger blocks of narration where the character is just thinking or reasoning with themselves, and especially for more casual/humorous sequences as opposed to ones where i’m trying to be a bit more flowery or evocative with my word choice. it’s really easy for me to get carried away writing these bits because usually whatever is in my brain will get directly word vomited out onto the page, which often means long nonsensical thought loops and very accidentally unserious figures of speech. i do find there are certain characters that are easier for me to do this with: mike for one, obviously, but also buck in the 911 wip i was working on for a while (rip) and patrick zweig in my challengers wip (rip x2) — which im realizing as i type this is basically just a list of characters that scream adhd to me. lol.

other characters like will are not As natural for me in this specific way, but i’ve gotten comfortable enough writing him and his voice for it to happen anyway. and others (vi from my arcane wip, loki from my lokius fic) are muchhh harder to write because they don’t really feel like my inner voice nearly as much, so i have to hold myself back more and really think about whether i am writing from My head or Theirs, if that makes sense. i also get a lot of “yeah i can really hear your voice coming through in this” from my friends when i share excerpts of fics in certain povs with them, so i guess it’s not just in my head! + thea might have thoughts to add but i can confirm that there are also lots of times where she’s written something and i just like read it in her voice because it’s totally something she would say or do, either irl when we are together or just over text. and a lot of the hyper-describing of thoughts and surroundings is honestly equal parts a mixture of my natural thoughts and also just my process for setting a scene, which mostly goes something along the lines of “picture the place, picture the things in the place, describe the things in the place in the clearest but least awkward way possible.” probably this leads to some more describing and noticing and such than i would naturally do in my own head but 🤷🏽‍♀️ honestly it’s pretty close i think

I was reading the newest chapter of this cat!gojo fic and like. It made me realize. We dont have a lot of content where NANAMI is the one that turns into a cat. Its more common for him to turn into a dog, because yeah no it makes sense--bro is like a tired family dog if you think abt it, BUT ALSO!! Nanami could make for a really regal and refined cat!! Walk with me here.

So, i did a quick looksee at potential cat breeds and fnejfjefjrk i can just see nanami ending up as a ginger norwegian forest cat. It has his temprament, that european roots that i love for him, AND it makes him so wonderfully fluffy and also kind of lowkey pushes my hairy!nanami agenda eheheheheh >:))

As a cat, nanami could live the most chill and relaxed life hes dreamed of-- napping the day away in the sun and enjoying himself however he pleases with nil repercussions. I can also see gojo just cooing and gushing over him-- you BET that gojos phone gallery storage would jjst be FILLED TO THE BRIM with catnami pics gjsjfjshrk

Theres also a lot of story potential and character exploration here because like--what would nanami do as a cat? If given the life he wished for (kind of), would he really enjoy it? Especially considering the fact that this is the main thing he's been dreaming of since forever. And also, circling back to the what would he do as a cat thing, would he want to turn back into a human? If ever, what would he do as a cat to turn back into a human? Its also just fun to imagine wtf he'd do and everyones reactions to it LMAO

Storywise, this is a pretty easy setup--put nanami into a mission and he gets hit by the curse effect. Give or take he defeats the curse or curse user that did it to him before it takes full effect, rlly depends if you wanna stretch it out or whatever and use the guy for more plot lmao. And then he turns into a cat!

I can see a lot of drama in the two situations of "he insta turns into a cat" and "he vv slowly animorphs into one". For the first one, depending on whether or not he defeats who or whatever it is that did it to him, the amnts of drama and emotion that you could get outta that thang would be crazy--i can see ijichi nervously waiting in the car and its been a touch too long since nanamis been in the curse lair of the thing and hes getting REAL nervous because nanami would be in the car by now or at least texting him that hes facing some troubles and will take longer than usual.

He decides to trust his gut and maybe send out a call to whoever the closest sorcerers are around and LO AND BEHOLD, its gojo on his way to bug nanami about getting dinner with him. So when he hears that nanami might be in a lick of trouble, he figures that he can show up all knight in shining armor-like and heroically save him from whatever curse hes facing him and then ask him on a date as thanks for saving him.

He gets there and huh. Thats a suspiciously large amount of blood everywhere. Huh. Thats nanamis cursed weapon on the floor thats also covered in blood and guts. Huh. Thats also all of nanamis clothes torn asunder and also covered in blood and guts. Huh. Well. This isn’t good. Thank god a weirdly injured and blood covered cat caught his attention before he spiraled too hard over whatever happened to nanami. Very cutesy and fluffy too, with the prettiest hazel eyes hes ever seen on a cat, because none match up to nanamis hazel eyes
