OMG I LOVE RDJ Holmes, and it's so BEAUTIFUL. The first one came out in 2009, and Sherlock came out in 2010, so yes, RDJ Holmes was first, and I fell in love with that one first (I got into Sherlock in 20...13? Just before season 3). The two RDJ films are still a couple of my faves, and there's been talks for YEARS for a third one (I know both RDJ and Law want to do it, but I think the problem is all the issues plaguing WB...)

AND OMG the BEST PART?? Law literally shamed a reporter for calling their relationship a bromance; I think they BOTH want the third one to be an explicit queer relationship, but I think the big hurdle is the studio interference and (BEFORE 2023) was the remaining copyrights not having expired. NOW that all the ACD canon is public domain, the big hurdle is the WB.

Anyway, I love them, SO MUCH. I ship them SO hard, and now I think I'm gonna go rewatch the movies because they're SO beautiful. I love them to bits.

Since it's been over a decade since the last one, I would LOVE SH3 to explore them older and together. I think that would be lovely.

1. Our Flag Means Death: Brought me back to tumblr and has healed so so many queerbaiting scars, you people have no idea. I've made so many cool friends here and it might also be the first fandom with a large poc audience which feels nice cause I don't have to be one out of five people pointing problematic stuff out, I can literally just sit back and read people who are better with words and cheer them on. This might not feel that big a deal lmaoo but it so is.

2. BBC Sherlock: mentioning this show gives me such intense anxiety and pain tbh but it was my first major fandom and while the show went to shit and I didn't see tumblr for almost 5 years cause was so heartbroken, I did have a lot of fun, fell in love, and it did kinda change my life in so many ways, so I guess it'll stay a big part of my identity sadly unfortunately gods *clenches fists* I hate that sm

3. Granada Sherlock Holmes: I rewatch this show every now and then, to me Brett's Holmes remains THE Holmes to this day, no one did it like him tbh.

4. Good Omens: I'm definitely more of a book fan for this than the show fan, but the show is pretty fucking great and stands on its own feet. I also think both Az and Crowley were cast so well, which makes it all the more better.

5. Doctor Who: Love 9 and 10, but 11 would always be my doctor because I started watching the show when he was around and I love him ✌️ kinda need to catch up with the latest seasons though

6. Interview with the Vampire: Never read the books and vampires really aren't my thing but oh god this show, just everything about it, I am yet to find anything I hate about it ngl it is done so well and so beautifully and one of the few shows where I actually like both the leads equally (lestat too he's such a messed up freak I love him)

7. Hannibal: I got into the show cause I watched the first episode as it aired with a friend here, and it was just going to be a laugh but then I got so hooked, and it's definitely one of the prettiest shows lmaoo and it's so incredibly fucked up in a way that it makes sense to my brain

8. Dark: A start to finish trippy ride and I loved every second of it. I've got a thing for time travel stuff in the sense that I do watch and read every single time travel related media I can get my hands on, and this one is still right on top of my list.

Tian Guan Ci Fu/tgcf (book series, donghua) - I stumbled upon this randomly back in 2021 through its brand new donghua and I've loved it ever since. I adore the characters and the plot is both extremely complex and absolutely wild. it's roughly 750,000 words but I was able to read it in a week despite having school because I was so invested in it!

Moriarty the Patriot/mtp (manga, anime)- I think this is funny bc I tried watching bbc sherlock once and did NOT like it, so I just thought I wasn't into the sherlock holmes stuff. WRONG! I just had to discover this. I call this the "best sherlock holmes adaptation" for a reason (check my current pinned post, you'll find many reasons why I love mtp; I don't want to sound like a broken record so I don't plan to repeat them). I can't wait for when (or if) the manga comes out of its break/hiatus

Good Omens (book, show) - both the book and the miniseries/show are so near and dear to my heart. I always have a soft spot for watching supernatural entities fall in love (with each other and) the world around them. also, it's funny as hell

Promare (movie) - goooood I love Promare it's so neat; love the colors and the shapes and the plot is fun despite its simplicity. I could rewatch this movie every day for a month straight and not get tired of it

Arc of a Scythe trilogy (book series) - this is not something I've talked about a love, but this is one of my favorite book series! found it back around the same time I did tgcf; it's fucking insane I loooove the worldbuilding and the main cast, and by the second book every other page was like a plot twist gutting me in the best way possible; it's made me ponder about life and death on more than one occasion too

Matched trilogy (book series) - I started reading this in either 5th/6th grade but didn't really get it so I kinda forgot about it until around 2021-2022 (what? I actually had time to READ that year!) and managed to reread it and it was like a third eye opened. I really enjoyed the mystery unfolding in the trilogy! it's pretty cool imo, even tho I think (?) it was meant for teenagers to read

Not So Shoujo Love Story (webcomic) - this webcomic is so fucking funny AND it's wlw! I've been a fan for years it's so good

Bee and Puppycat/Bee and Puppycat: Lazy in Space (show) - a comfort show of mine (one of many); I'm in love with the atmosphere of the show and how awkwardly real the dialogue tends to be (plus I've been slowly rewatching it with my gf with is always a plus <3); I love both the og and its "reboot" equally, and would recommend people watch both

Snow White with the Red Hair (anime) - I haven't read the manga for this one, but I've seen the anime and it's another comfort show of mine. It's so sweet and cozy and the entire cast is lovable; even the "bad guy" in the first season is someone you grow to root for by the end of the second season. it's great!

Supernatural (show) - even tho I haven't finished the show and idk when/if I ever will, I still consider it a favorite media of mine. not bc I think it's great (it's good in most places, lacking in other), but bc I pretty much grew up with it. I have a core memory of watching the first handful of episodes when I was younger with my dad on the couch with the first time and being hooked on this strange show about supernatural creatures (I was that kid that enjoyed the supernatural! I read ghost story books, I binged every Goosebumps book I could get my hands on in fourth grade, I had a creepypasta phase, etc); even now in 2024 I've been sitting down with my dad to rewatch it with him before I go back to my college dorm and start back up classes. it's less so one of my favorite medias because I think it's good but because I associate it with my family <3

I - Has tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why

BBC Sherlock. I really wanted to watch this show when it was all over tumblr and all my friends were watching it back in like 2014, but I never got around to it. Eventually, people stepped back and were like "actually, so much about this show sucks so much", and I was just kinda glad I'd never actually watched it yet and now I won't. If I want Sherlock content, tbh, I'll probably just rewatch "Elementary, Dear Data" from Star Trek: TNG. Or finally finish the Enola Holmes stuff.

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending, about anything at all (gender identity, sexual or romantic orientation, extended family, sexual preferences like top/bottom/switch, relationship with poetry, seriously anything)

Duke Thomas cannot make direct eye contact with people. It gives him a splitting headache. Since eyes both absorb and reflect light, looking directly at someone's eyes creates a sort of feedback loop of light beams for him.

Cass is, in all actuality, older than Jason. However, because there is some ambiguity about her precise age, both of them frequently insist they are the older sibling of the two. They could very easily confirm who is older; they both refuse because they don't want to be wrong.

Steph is more of the common sense in the batfam than people give her credit for. Don't get me wrong, she is far from normal (she is vigilante, she grew up in Gotham), but she is the one with the wherewithal to, idk, solve her problems by actually talking to people. She's clever and witty and quick on her feet and actually some really good and really practical people skills.

Duke and Jason are both functionally immortal for different reasons. (Also, they are good brothers and DC needs to bring back the two of them getting to interact).

Tim doesn't call Bruce "dad" and probably never will. Not because he doesn't see Bruce as his parent, but because "dad" has some very complex connotations for him and he doesn't want to apply those to Bruce. More specifically, because good batdad is canon to me, Bruce is better than what "dad" means to him. (It’s also important to me that Jack does try to be a father to Tim and does love him. But loving your kid is not always enough. Sometimes you still hurt them).

There's definitely something I'm forgetting that I'm even more die hard about, but this is already more than I intended on writing for this one 😂 needless to say this is a fun question. (Also maybe putting this out will kickstart me writing the fics I have planned based on 3 of these)

Tried very hard not to just put every single batkid on this list but know that I would go to war for any of them I love them all so much.

1. Jason Todd -- listen, do I think his philosophy on crime should be applied to the real world? No, absolutely not. Has he done anything wrong ever? Also no.

2. Duke Thomas (bonus: the whole We Are Robin crew) -- if you hate Duke Thomas, meet me in Denny's parking lot. Something is clearly wrong with you and I will right it via blunt force trauma /j.

3. Tim Drake -- Catch me untangling the mess that is his fanon and canon characterizations and weaving a beautiful tapestry out of it. I see so many wrong interpretations about him and I am tired. Very carefully sorting out what should and shouldn't be kept from both fanon and canon every time I write him.

4. Cassandra Cain -- she has done nothing wrong ever and she deserves to be Batman. my favorite weirdgirl ever <3

5. Trevor Belmont -- my wife /p just introduced me to Castlevania and I did not expect to love it this much. Trevor is my babygirl and I would die for him.

6. Sypha -- I love her soooo much and I am dreading any potential romantic arcs to come about since she's the female lead because I really don't think she needs it. Please let her be cool af and single and not ruined in favor of the inevitable contrived romance, oh god.

7. Rise!Mikey -- I started my dive into tmnt content with Rise and then I tried to go back and watch 2012 because people said it was also good but they were so mean to Mikey 😭 I couldn't do it. He is like a squeaky toy to me.

8. Rise!Donnie -- I am captivated by his autism swag. Enough said. (Him and Mikey as a brother duo is so precious to me).

9. Razer -- Watch Green Lantern: The Animated Series if you haven't already. Do it. I promise you will not regret it. I won't say anything because spoilers but I have so much to say.

10. Talia al Ghul -- I am taking a knife to canon and carving out the parts I don't like because she is a good mom, goddammit!

Bonus: Koriand'r. I haven't read enough comics to know much about her, but I respect woman juice everyday for my favorite 6+ ft buff alien woman. (She should get to be huge and strong and I will fight for that).

I'm going to give you a few because I'm like incapable of being brief, but I think you should start with granada holmes. Its completely free on youtube, i've put the link for a playlist :) Jeremy Brett is the best tv Holmes in my opinion, he's delightfully dramatic, and gets holmes' almost manic energy right, for example at some point he jumps over a couch to ask watson to stay for a case! Brett was also very passionate about being accurate to the books, and often fought with people when he thought something wasn't accurate to holmes' character. A lot of lines & dialogue are straight from the books, which is always fun & David Burke and Edward Hardwicke make some excellent watsons (they switch between FINA and EMPT)

The series does get a lot worse towards the end, due to Brett getting more and more ill, and staff changes.

Also Brett once described Holmes as a damaged penguin I believe, so there's that :)

Also also, if you're a fan of the Sidney Paget illustrations, you should know that they often mimic them in the series, so look out for your favourite illustrations :)

This russian adaptation is also pretty good, although it has some pacing issues (way too long), it's also all on youtube for free :) with included subtitles!! I really love holmes & watsons friendship in this one? they lean against each other whilst laughing and stuff and i love to see that <3

This one isn't really a series, but I also really recommend this radio show with Clive Merrison as Sherlock Holmes (who looks like holmes when he doesn't even have to) i think these are all episodes? I have them all downloaded, but I don't really feel like counting them all :)

I saw @merrilark do this, and it seemed fun, so I wanted to give it a try. :)

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

Eleven! Three drabbles, three oneshots, one abandoned WIP longfic, and four explicit fics I did for kinktober.

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

15,430 words.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Only Misfits at the moment, but I've been eyeing Doctor Who and BBC's Wolf. (I've also been wanting to write a short Morgwen fic, but I'd have to rewatch the series, but I can't be bothered.)

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

-Rooftop Kisses 72 Kudos My first fic! It's the oldest, so it makes sense why it's the most popular.

-I am human, and I need to be loved, just like everybody else does 58 Kudos It's the second fic I posted and the first explicit thing I ever wrote. I only posted one chapter but planned for around 20+. It was meant to be an NSFW canon rewrite of What If Simon and Nathan developed a friends-with-benefits relationship. It was meant to be more of a whumpey fic, and the idea initially came from the idea of what if Simon never killed Sally (Basically, events from 1x5 didn't happen.) This fic has now been abandoned due to simply losing interest in writing it.

-Enjoying the Show 51 Kudos My most recent non-explicit fic I posted. I posted this on my one-year AO3 posting anniversary. This was a fun one to write. I'm glad people enjoyed it.

-License Dilemma 33 Kudos Another oneshot and the longest oneshot I've posted. I love this one dearly.

-Oh, So Pleasurable (If Only You Stayed Dreaming) 23 Kudos The first fic I posted for kinktober. It's not my favourite of the bunch, but I understand why people liked it more than the others.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I did when I first started and currently trying to. But once I get a comment, then 'read' it and go to respond at a later date, I forget about it. Then, when I remember, it's been such a long time and I get too anxious to reply.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Probably Ambiguous Grief. It's a drabble, so there's little to it. It's a sadder one versus angsty. Or it would be Bottling It Up (But It Still Leaks Out), another drabble with more of an angsty open ending.

7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Well, I've written a lot of happy-ending fics. I'd say all my explicit fics are 'happy endings, ' y'know, wink, wink, nudge, nudge, lol. But in all seriousness, I'd say License Dilemma. It has an angsty middle but a sweet fluffy end.  

8. Do you get hate on any fics?

No, but I have gotten some overly pressurey comments that have made me uncomfortable. 

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes, I do. Normally just oneshots. Nothing too extreme, mostly vanilla with a bit of kick to it.  

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

No, I don't. I don't really like cross-overs in general. (I say this as if I didn't get a little obsessed with House M.D. and BBC's Sherlock crossover Greg is Sherlock's dad fics a couple of weeks ago, LOL.) 

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of. 

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No, it seems pretty intimidating just thinking about it.

14. What's your all time favorite ship?

Oh, duh, Nathan and Simon. It’s now engrained in me.

15. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Mmh, I am human, and I need to be loved, just like everybody else does. I should've waited til I wrote more chapters before posting it. I feel bad for not finishing it.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue probably. I'd say it's only a strength because it comes easiest to me while writing, lol.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Grammar and spelling. (Thank god for writing programs :D) Other than that, I struggle with over-adding unnecessary details.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Only if it's necessary for the plot or like a character trait. If you do it poorly, it comes off as cringey. But I do like it when characters add a little pet name in another language.

I personally would try to avoid it cause I don't wanna get anything wrong as I'm not good with other languages. Don't wanna poorly google translate it.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Misfits! There wasn't enough out there, and I needed more, I finally caved to my 'no writing fan fiction' rule.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

License Dilemma. Mostly cause I related a lot to certain themes of the story. But I also like The Voyeur and The Exhibitionist I did for kinktober. I liked writing the dialogue, and I thought I got certain character traits down well.

I'm kinda new to tumblr but since being here I've noticed a lot of love for British TV shows, especially BBC drama

The main ones I've seen mentioned are Sherlock, Merlin and Doctor Who and although those are great shows I wondered if there might be some others that non-natives (idk if that's the right phrase I'm tired) might not have heard about or had the opportunity to discover so here you go

List will be staggered because there's too much for one post so here's part 1

Dancing on the Edge (BBC, 2013)

I'd recommend for Merlin fans, because Angel Coulby and Anthony Head, and from what I remember Tom Hughes as Julian was quite Merlin-like or at least in a similar vein

It did have a crime/mystery element to it too so if you liked that about Sherlock give this a go

Anyway he was adorable

I watched it when it first came out because Angel Coulby and was disappointed with how much she is actually in it (forewarning- not much at all) but I enjoyed the story and the characters and the sets/costumes were great and now that I think about it I'm still kinda attatched to Julian what how did this happen it's been 7 years send help-

Chiwetel Ejiofor is very cool of course as Louis and his performance is generally great, as much as I love the more side characters like Julian, Carla and Stanley he really is what centres everything and makes it work I think

Also Carla bb you are amazing please stop doubting yourself ok someone hug her (and while you're at it give Wunmi Mosaku more roles why are you sleeping on her)

I remember the music being good too and there was one bit where they played in a bar (it's about Jazz btw) and it was really cool, can't remember why but will need to rewatch soon I think

I completely forgot Jenna Coleman was in this but I'm sure she was good so yeah there's that

Bonus: Matthew Goode (probably your new crush if you have a thing for British drama guys who look vaguely like Tom Hiddleston as quite a few people here seem to)

Atlantis (BBC, 2013)

Another 2013 drama but this one less of an intelligent serious historical drama vibe and more a magic, sword fighting and running around the woods in ineffective armour from weird CGI creatures vibe.

If that sounds like Merlin to you, well it did to us too when it first came out so everyone was kinda salty especially since it was the first 'big' drama to fill Merlin's primetime family spot which basically signalled it as a Merlin replacement trying to appeal to the same audience by doing a very similar thing but not as well

Like when the adverts came out people were like how dare you try to fill the Merlin-shaped hole in the schedule and also in my heart with this

Bring back Colin and Bradley you cowards

That said it wasn't a bad series at all, not amazing but mostly good, just not on the same level character and story wise as Merlin, in my opinion anyway

I mean I still watched every episode and was upset when it ended but c'mon it was just getting good

There are a couple of episodes I rewatch sort of regularly because they were pretty cool

If you liked Merlin I would recommend giving it a go, it has a kind of similar feel, magic, fun costumes and of course a lot of bromance. You don't have to think a lot when watching it (at least not until near the end I'm pretty sure) which can be nice when you just want to switch off and watch people run around in totally inappropriate sandals

Honestly it was good but I would have loved more focus on other characters, I didn't like Jason as much as I did Medusa or Medea (spinoff series please BBC they both deserved better)

Highlights:

Pythagoras. Just him. Doing Pythagoras stuff. Also won't spoil but his (slightly rushed) eventual romance was sweet and quite unusual at the time on a show like that (on BBC one at prime family viewing time) and I need to know more about that because we spent too much on Jason angst and not enough time on this small boi getting the love he deserves so if we could get some new fans in to do fanart or something that would be great I need closure

Ariadne's costumes, sass and eyebrows:

The force is strong with this one

I'm sure she was a great character but looking back I mainly remember her blue dresses and strong brows they just owned the scenes ok they should have been credited in the cast list

For real tho I hadn't seen Aiysha Hart in anything before but she was a strong lead

Amy Manson's Medea:

Seriously when she joined in season 2 things really kicked up a notch, hard to describe it but you'll see

I would watch a whole series about her

She's amazing

I only want good things for Medea

And Amy Manson

Medusa (played by Jemima Rooper) was also amazing and lovely and I found it quite a touching and different take on her story (to past me anyway). Again, I would have liked more focus and development on that instead of Jason's eughhh it's so hard to be a protagonist wait lemme punch a Minotaur in the face real quick but we can't have everything

Being kept busy always makes time fly, I hope it's not too stressful or overwhelming all the same though! Don't worry at all about not having time, I'm in a similar situation, started an internship early January and I've never felt more active in my life (going well tho!! Thankfully). I actually owe you such an apology for never getting back to your well thought out, well spoken asks after all this time 😭 I have written answers that aren't even fleshed out enough for me to get my point across (as you can see I do like to use 5 lines to describe something instead of 1 😍), I'm a shambles and I'm deeply sorry for it.

They definitely (in my opinion, potentially wildly popular I never actually was in the fandom space) dropped the ball on it as soon as s3? Maybe? I'm the exact same as you with not being involved in this fandom space anymore it's so bad I hadn't seen one stream since like January, but I stopped in of course for Qnf bowling blog (really enjoyed it tbh) and I was like wow I miss them only for quackity to fly to England the following week. However comma despite being excited for it out of nowhere the vibes were not as fun as I would've expected ngl. Idk if you keep up with like dtqk updates on Twitter but that's where I read the cliff notes summary of what they've been at every so often but dearly beloved dream went publically blabbing about George feeling depressed in England??? King,, what? What are you doing talking about your friends personal life like this 😭 so I think that probably put a little damper on things for me. I enjoyed the stream where snf shared a mouse / keyboard, and Quackitys stream was good energy but I haven't been able to sit through Karl's / Tina's streams without turning it off as soon as i start.
