The thing I love about hallucinations, especially as a narrative device is it gives you a look inside someone's head, in a realistic way. Hallucinations can show a character's desires, fears, biggest regrets, etc.

One thing that makes it better is it almost always adds a really sad undertone to whatever it is you're writing, more than the fact that they're seeing things that aren't real. The only situation that it doesn't give a sad undertone is when the hallucinations let them see the future or they see someone give them words of encouragement in a tough situation.

Sad undertones seen when Hallucinations are used:

If the character sees something they desire it tells us that the character isn't completely happy with their current life or that they feel like they can't achieve whatever it is they're seeing. Examples: Someone's love, Peace, Strength, their past life.

If the character sees something related to a previous event this it tells us that they could feel regret, grief and/or be blaming themselves for whatever happened. It also tells us the character likely thinks often about what it could've been like if things went differently. Example: Someone's Death, a breakup, their cowardly actions.

If the character sees something they fear they're likely being haunted by it. This one gets deeper the more personal the fear is and can show what they're afraid of losing. Example: Spiders, Loneliness, Someone's hate.

If the character sees something realistic then they may think or want to think it is real even if they know it's a hallucination. it may showcase a character's insecurities in a much better way. Examples: Someone's hate/love, someone watching them.

If the character sees themselves this shows a lot of inner conflict, self doubt, self hatred, fear of what they can or already have become. It gives so much insight to how a character sees themselves. Examples: their evil side, what they could have been, what they don't want others to know about them.

I just love it so much and so many people pick up on this stuff subconsciously too. So many scenarios can happen with hallucinations. Kind of a mini rant, probably missed some stuff too but whatever.

Something about how Felicia said she didn't know what to do with kids and the thought of being near one made her nervous meanwhile Silco is a natural with kids. He played with Marcus's daughter with no problem and raised Jinx since she was a little girl.

it honestly really does feel like something in mane shifts when he sees how minute is willing to take the death to the point of just giving up on the fight and taking off his armor and standing there. just like, the way minute gives up and how mane hesitates, i feel like something does change.

anyways i was rewatching the fight cause a version where someone edited in all the in game sounds (cause the screenshare had no audio) popped up in my recommended and i didn't realize that mane sorta hesitated before killing minute until now lolz

Well, Tim didn't know Jason personally, so his opinion was formed in universe by talking to Bruce, Alfred, and Dick and out of universe by the editorial reasoning that "Jason had to have been a bad Robin hence why he died." But either which way, I would say yeah, here's Tim dreaming/hallucinating how he sees Jason:

Idk about the more current stuff, but in the older stuff the meta narrative was that Jason was a bad Robin, someone to contrast Tim, the good Robin with, to justify making Tim Robin. And Tim fell in line with that meta narrative and shat on Robin!Jason a few times

looking at old art is interesting like sure yeah my anatomy skills and whatever have improved but the thing I really notice the most is the difference in colours & lighting

okay because I have my hands on the physical copy now (my streaming service only had the sub), and I've been doing some stuff on the side I've learned some interesting stuff about GT. under read more cause there's a bit to ramble about here.

Okay so immediately the first thing I find interesting is the run time:

your average Japanese season for a show is 12 episodes, for GT this is interesting because it has 64 episodes and a movie; which for those wondering that's five seasons with 4 episodes barely scraping over a sixth, that's fairly successful for a studio written anime mind you.

most have one or two seasons they rarely exceed three or even four, so that means GT was somewhat successful in japan. (not surprising just interesting, I know the average length thanks to the many one or two season series I watched back in the day.)

an interesting part from the dub however is how some characters are written to be worse than in the sub, the best example is Pan and Giru as Pan's made far more annoying, and Giru sounds like a muppet for some reason.

moving onto the sagas things get interesting:

the Black star dragon ball saga is 16 episodes, sharing it's last with the Bebī saga most of these episodes are infamous for being episodic and repetitive in nature. there's not much to say about this saga that has not been said.

the Bebī saga is almost half the series with 24 episodes, that's two japanese seasons alone, spanning from episode 16-40 you can tell they got a little ambitious here, no wonder he's the most iconic of the GT villains.

It's pretty obvious General Rild is inspired by the meta Coolers in Return of Cooler, his fight just makes it more obvious; funny enough they share the same dub voice and I will never unhear that.

other details I already noticed in the Japanese version of this saga include:

Bebī is affected by possessing Vegeta on a psychological level at times, often not even realizing it himself in moments, the most obvious sign coming from his interactions with the infected Bulma vs. other infected people in this arc.

finding that scene where he eats the candified Majuub strangely adorable. and the fact this main antagonist shares a voice actor with an obscure sonic character in the sub.

moving on the super 17 saga spans 7 episodes, that's less than a season. not much to say here either, it is kinda funny on the number coincidence.

finally the remaining episodes are the shadow dragon saga, with 6 episodes therefore making it the shortest saga in GT, and half of your average season.

I think an interesting way for Frank to be revealed as Pisces to everyone would be if one character found out, and doesn’t tell anyone, or can’t tell anyone, and then the big reveal for everyone else happens later.

I think it would be interesting if the one to find out before everyone else is Foxy.

Maybe they get in a situation where Frank has to use their powers to save Foxy, therefore revealing the truth to him.

Or maybe Frank trusts Foxy enough to reveal their true identity to him. And they’re completely alone with him too, so they feel safe to do so.

If done right, ye, I could see that be an interesting way to do the reveal :P

realizing more and more lately that i find no/low empathy heroes really fucking fun to write. like... characters who do not empathize with anyone ever, or maybe feel empathy under very specific and rare circumstances, and are striving to do The Right Thing regardless. they don't need to empathize with the people in this situation to want to do something about it

one of the most fascinating things in the teen wolf fandom is how they took something that was just clearly meant to be a throwaway line to explain how magic works "it needs a spark" (i.e. it just needs something to start the fire and then it does its thing) and used that to create an entirely new concept and insist that it's what a character is

I think there's a lot of wild fanon things in the tw community but that's probably the craziest. there's a lot of things people who would come into the show after reading the fics would be expecting but wouldn't be there but the prominence of spark stiles might be the one that's most different

As gen-AI becomes more normalized (Chappell Roan encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use gen-AI because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by tech companies. I draw not because I want a drawing but because I love the process of drawing. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.
