if you had told me a year ago that not only would i still be here but i would be releasing a song talking about the darkest times of my life with the love of my life by my side i would never have believed you.

throughout the past few months i have revisited times of my life i wish i could have left behind but ive learnt that accepting that this is a part of me now is important in my journey of moving forwards, and in moving forwards ive learnt that my struggles do not define me and i wont be embarrassed by things that have affected me

The better girlfriend (Part 2)

Amira and Kika, inseparable as ever, embarked on another girls’ day in Monaco. Their bond was more than friendship—it was sisterhood. Kika played the role of confidante, makeup lender, and partner-in-crime during hungover mornings. Sweet “girl-dates” were their specialty, and Kika’s shoulder was always there for Amira to lean on.

But Kika wasn’t just a soft touch. Like any true best friend, she’d throw a punch or two if needed to defend Amira. Loyalty ran deep between them.

On this particular day, they indulged in a four-hour shopping spree, treating themselves to manicures and a relaxing spa session. To cap it off, they settled into a cozy restaurant for lunch, sipping delicious mimosas.

Seated at the back, they paid little attention to the other patrons—until a familiar voice reached their ears. It was one of those moments when fate intervened, weaving their lives together with unexpected threads.

"I honestly don't know what he sees in her." the annoying voice of Alex reached their ears. Amira and Kika shared a look, both of their faces looking unimpressed. "Yeah" was the weak reply from Alexandras best friend, Sarah. To be honest, Sarah wasn't Alex biggest fan at the moment. The whole stunt she did with kissing a man that was not her boyfriend wasn't ok. But going to said ex-boyfriends job and offend his new girlfriend publicly was just borderline crazy. In her opinion Amira is a sweet girl and a good girlfriend to Charles. No wonder that they are Sarah's favourite celebrity couple, but don't tell Alex.

"You should have seen her, she stood there like an idiot. She dresses like a whore. Hell, I bet she even behaves like one" Alexandra continued. "And of course little perfect Amira Sainz had to play the angel again and tell the media that she didn't take my words to heart. Does this bitch even know who I am? My word is law." For gods sake why couldn't she stop talking, thought Sarah.

Meanwhile, Kika and Amira listend to the one-sided conversation. Both girls started getting angrier the more they heard. While Amiras rage was the "I can destroy your life with one sentence" rage, Kika's blood was boiling. "Who does this stupid bitch think she is" muttered Kika.

But when Alexandra confessed she started the internet rumor of Amira having an eating disorder, all rational thoughts left her head. During those horrible rumours, Amira started really struggling. Anti-Ferrari fans and Anti-Charles fans took the presented possibility to write her online hate. Besides, starting rumours about serious topics like that is never alright, no matter who it is about. It was a very dark time for Amira.

Before Amira could even comprehend what was happening, Kika stood up and went to the neighbour table. "Hey, girlie" she said to Alex sweetly, before taking her hair and dragging her out of the chair. Alex screeched like an wounded animal, which gained the attention of the other guest and staff. One young waitress recognised the girls and started filming.

Kika pushed her to the floor and started ripping of her fake nails. "Who the fuck do you think you are talking about my best friend like that?" Alex and Kika started ringing on the floor. Obviously Kika had the upper hand. Amira, who was still angry, decided to encourage her besties behaviour. "Vamos, Kika. Acaba con esta estúpida zorra." she yelled. Kika shot her a little smile while Alex looked at her in horror. "Eso es, zorra. Toma tu puta opinión y a ver a quién le importa. " Amira said straight to her face, raising an eyebrow.

Kika slapped her one last time across the face, stood up and said loudly: "Can we get our sandwiches to-go, please?" Amira and Kika turned to the filming waitress who answered excitedly: "Girls, it's on the house for you." After paying their mimosas and taking their food, the two left.

Inside the car, Amira hugged Kika tight. "Thank you" she whispered tearfully. Kika didn't say anything back, just hugged her tighter. What the two girl's weren't aware of, was, that at this exact moment, their little video fight went viral. And boy, did the fans stand on Kikas and Amiras side.

Bonus (+):

Max and Kelly stood in front of the girls, the video on in the background. They knew Charles and Pierre wouldn't say anything against their behaviour, so they took it upon themselves to be that bad cops.

"I am very disappointed in you two. Instead of talking it out like an adult, you hit her, Kika. And you shouldn't have encouraged her, Amira. As a punishment you both are not allowed to have any girl-days for two weeks." explained Max tiredly. Instead of arguing, both girls silently nodded their heads.

After a moment of silence Max spoke again: "Kelly, don't you want to say anything as well?" "….Bad girls." was her only reply. While Max held his head in his hands, Kelly shot the two of them a secret wink.

You press your fingertips to the cold glass of the hospital lobby doors, watching as the sky folds itself into the color of watered-down wine. It's early April, but still cold enough to bite, the trees outside bare like bones, everything hollowed out in the after of winter -in the after of Bunny.

You haven't seen Charles in four days.

They took him to the hospital when his fever spiked and he couldn’t stop coughing, couldn’t keep water down. Bronchitis, the nurse told Richard, and severe dehydration.

The others visit sporadically. Richard, guiltily. Francis, with shaking hands and a half-bottle of something cheap tucked under his coat, already half-consumed.

Before you came, Francis had the decency to call you. “He’s asking for scotch. Keeps saying he needs it to sleep. The nurse says he’s in withdrawal.”

You stay longest.

Not because he asks.

But because someone should.

He’s in a room with another man -a man who just wheezes and reads magazines about home gardening. The curtains stay drawn between them, mostly. It’s a poor imitation of privacy, but it's the best the hospital can offer. That, and silence thick enough to touch.

When you come in, Charles is curled toward the window, one hand twitching against the sheets. He looks terrible.

Pale and sunken, the bones in his hands like the negative of something once beautiful. The IV in his arm loops out and back again, like the line of an unfinished sentence. His hair is greasy and curled at the nape of his neck, and there’s a film over his eyes that you don’t like -not just exhaustion, but something darker. Emptier.

“Is it you?”

“Yes,” you say.

He doesn’t say anything else. You sit beside the bed and reach for the damp cloth resting in the metal basin. It’s lukewarm, but he sighs when you press it to his temple, as if you’ve just given him something worth keeping.

“You look like shit,” you murmur after a moment.

He laughs -a raspy, brittle sound that catches in his chest. “Thank you, darling.”

You hold the cloth there a moment longer. Then: “Did you eat?”

“I had Jell-O,” he mutters. “It looked like embalming fluid. Tasted worse.”

“That’s dramatic.”

“You’re dramatic.”

But his voice is fading. You help him lie back properly. His IV line tangles slightly and you fix it without being asked.

He watches your hands. Always your hands.

“They won’t let me drink,” he whispers.

“I know.”

His eyes meet yours. That same desperate sheen you’ve seen a hundred times -in your dorm, in Francis’s bathtub, on the floor of the library after too many shots of brandy. But here it’s worse, more exposed. There’s no performance in it.

“I feel like I’m dying.”

“You’re not.”

He doesn’t believe you. But he doesn’t argue with you.

He talks more when he’s feverish.

The words come unbidden, unraveling like threads, and you collect them as gently as you can. Sometimes it’s nonsense -passages from Homer, broken French, a line from an old Beatles song. Sometimes it’s clearer.

“I miss her,” he says one night, when the curtain is drawn and the hall lights are dimmed to amber.

You don’t have to ask who he means.

“I know.”

He turns to face you. His eyes are sharp in the dark. He’s sweating again.

“You know it’s not the same,” he says.

You nod. “It doesn’t have to be.”

And that -that softens him. For a second he is just a boy again, full of something fragile and inarticulate. Not ruined. Not yet.

He lets you tuck the blanket closer around his shoulders. Lets your hand rest, just for a second, over the place where his ribs meet.

You get used to the small rituals: bringing a paperback he won’t read, peeling the white pith from an orange to leave only the sweet meat, folding the thin blanket twice at his feet. The room smells like antiseptic and winter and him. Like the aftertaste of clove cigarettes and too much gin. You pretend not to notice when he shakes at night.

Once, when the machines beep too loudly and he groans and turns away from the window, you thread your fingers through his. Just for a minute.

He doesn’t pull away.

“You’re good to me,” he says, half asleep.

“You make it hard,” you reply, brushing sweat from his brow.

That earns you a laugh, hoarse and brief. “Always the honest one.”

You smile, just a little. “Not always.”

The nurse comes in once, frowns at the way his heart rate spikes when you touch his shoulder, but doesn’t say anything. She adjusts something on the monitor and leaves. Charles watches her go with a dull expression, then mutters, “They keep giving me these little white pills. I hate them.”

You smooth his blanket with both hands.

“I think I’d rather die drunk.”

“Don’t say that.”

He closes his eyes. For a second, he looks like the boy you first met in Julian’s class -golden, sweet, a little wicked around the edges. But that version is long gone. You mourn him sometimes.

“I’m serious,” he says, voice low. “I’ve never been good at being alive. I only ever liked it when I was drinking.”

You lean forward and press your forehead to the back of his hand. He smells like soap and saline and the vague sourness of someone who is sick -of sweat.

“I like you when you’re sober.”

A beat.

“I don’t.” He says.

He has a sketchpad one day. You don’t know where it came from -maybe Francis, maybe the nurse with the ginger braid who has a soft spot for pretty boys who quote Latin under their breath. It’s worn, the edges curled like old leaves. When you walk in, he’s pretending to draw something: a bottle of water, the shape of his IV stand.

You sit down beside him, peeling your gloves off finger by finger.

“What is it today?”

He doesn’t answer. Just passes you the pad.

On it, in charcoal smudges, is a face that is yours and not yours. Sleepier. Still. The slope of your nose, the tilt of your head when you listen too hard. There’s a tenderness in the line work that he would deny if you asked.

“It’s not finished,” he mumbles.

“I like it.”

“I don’t.”

But he lets you keep it. Later, you’ll press it between the pages of your Ovid, where the spine is cracked and the metaphors are all about drowning.

On his worst day, you find him curled inward like a dying thing, the curtain drawn all the way. He’s sweating through the sheets, muttering things that don’t make sense -names of gods and his sister’s and someone named Tom who you think must be his father or one of his uncles. His eyes are red-rimmed and half-lidded, and when you try to touch him, he flinches.

“I’m here,” you say. “It’s okay. It’s me.”

He doesn’t answer. But he reaches for you blindly, like a child in a nightmare. His hands are so cold.

You climb into the narrow hospital bed beside him.

Not close -not pressed against him- just near enough to count his breaths. Near enough that your presence fills the spaces between the ghosts.

“Please, don’t leave.” he whispers. Not proud. Just scared.

“I won’t.”

And as promised, you stay.

A beat. Then, quieter: “Why?”

You study him -his tangled hair, the hospital band around his wrist, the mouth that still trembles at the edges when he’s too tired to pretend.

Because I love you, you don’t say.

Instead, you tuck a strand of hair behind his ear.

“Because I like you better when you’re alive.”

He chuckles -just a little. It hurts his throat.

“You’re not very poetic.”

“You’re not very sober.”

“That’s fair.”

You hand him a peeled clementine, and he takes it, and for a moment the world feels gentle again.

You don’t know how long this will last. You don’t know if he’ll relapse. If he’ll leave Hampden in disgrace or if you’ll ever kiss him without the taste of alcohol on his lips. You don’t even know if he loves you -not in the way he loves Camilla.

But today he smiles at you like he means it, like you’re something soft and known in a world that’s gone strange around the edges. He lets you hold his hand without flinching, without pretending it’s a game or a fever-dream. He doesn’t say much, but he doesn’t have to.

He’s still here -quieter than before, eyes softer, the sharp edges dulled by something close to trust- and you think, maybe for the first time, that he wants to live.

yeah lando and oscar know about landoscar although not sure the extent of which they know about it, but then again they are both gen z with an internet connection so im wary. i blame the mclaren admin for that one i think, who DEFINITELY knows about it.

1900s futurism

I'm profoundly skeptical of the idea that the future can be predicted, and doubly skeptical that sf writers are any kind of prophet. The former grotesque fatalism (if the future can be predicted, then what we do doesn't matter); the latter is tragicomic hubris.

That said, few people have been more consistently useful in understanding and anticipating (and yes, building) the future than my friend and colleague Karl Schroeder, whom I've known since I was 16 years old. Karl was the first person I heard say the world "internet." Also: "fractal," "World Wide Web," "ftp," and numerous other touchstones of the future just over the horizon.

Karl is, in fact, a futurist ("foresight consultant") who approaches the work with the same shrewd insight, wild imagination and humility that he brings to his fiction. In a new essay written with both his futurist and sf writer hats on, he nails down the toxic shadow cast by the 20th century sf, or, as he calls it, "The Science Fiction of the 1900s":

Karl starts by describing the odd "double vision" of the future of the 1900s. On the one hand, many of us (myself included) were convinced that nuclear armageddon was inevitable. Unlike the unhinged architects of the nuclear arms-race, realists understood that a nuclear war would effectively end the future. As Einstein put it, "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."

But the flipside of that certainty that the future would end with the first nuclear strike was the belief that if we could just somehow walk the tightrope over the chasm of nuclear holocaust, we'd emerge in a future worth looking forward to: "a new era of peace and prosperity for all."

Contrast that with the existential dread of today's polycrisis: environmental collapse and political decay up to and including fascism. These aren't the binary proposition of nuclear annihilation vs Utopia – rather, they're a continuum of worse-and-better outcomes of every description. As Karl writes: "It’s not that simple. Our future now is an exhausting spectrum of scenarios, each with its own promise, and its own problems."

For Karl, we have entered a new epoch, but we've dragged in the long-expired way of imagining (and hence creating and navigating) the future with us. What makes this a new epoch? For Karl, it's the kind of future on our horizon. He cites Charles C Mann’s 1491, a superb history of the Americas before Columbus:

1491 radically reframes "the patchwork of propaganda and inference" that makes up the received narrative of the so-called "New World." It describes a land of flourishing cities, art, science and culture "in the Americas while Rome was just getting its act together." Contact with colonizing Europeans was a disaster for First Nations people, who call this period "The Invasion." It was an epochal break.

Futurism is an inextricably historical discipline. The willingness of some settler-colonialists states to consider this epochal break forces us to reframe our literal place in history, the story of the land under our feet. At its best, this futuro-historical work can begin the long work of reconciliation, as with the Canadian government's promise of $23b in reparations for the First Nations people who were kidnapped as children and sent to murderous "residential schools" before, during and after the Sixties Scoop.

The sf of the 1900s is no longer fit for purpose, if it ever was. It's a literature that was steered by open fascists like John W Campbell, who explicitly saw the literature as a means of inculcating a societal narrative of the triumph of white, corporate technocracy over all other forms of government:

Karl isn't the first sf writer to try to overturn this orthodoxy – indeed, it was continuously challenged by radicals within the field, as with the New Wave, personified by the likes of Samuel Delany and Judith Merril (who both mentored and introduced Karl and me):

The cyberpunks took a good hard run at it, too. For plenty of writers (including me), Bruce Sterling and William Gibson's 1981 story "The Gernsback Continuum" was a wake-up call:

Not for nothing, William Gibson has long insisted that his 1984 classic Neuromancer should be read as utopian: after all, it depicts a future in which the inevitable nuclear war only reduces a few cities to radioactive ash, sparing the rest of the planet.

Bruce Sterling once paid me the supreme compliment of describing a 2003 story I wrote about the ways that algorithms will enshittify self-driving cars as "making everybody else in the business look like they live in a dark basement growing on the mulch from old STAR TREK scripts":

Schroeder – along with today's new radical sf writer cohort – wants to fashion a fictional futurism that is fit for this world and its crisis: "in our modern technological society, science fiction tells us what to spend our time and money on." The fact that our mediocre billionaires are mired in the sf of the 1900s means that we're getting some decidedly old-fashioned futures.

For Karl, Musk is a poster-child for this profoundly conservative, backwards-looking vision: "He’s fighting the intellectual battles of the last century, a 1900s hero dropped into the 2000s with an unlimited budget to reshape the future to fit the era he’s from." Musk's obsessions – "Space flight. Settling Mars. Cyberpunk-style brain-computer interfaces. Artificial Intelligence. Self-driving electric cars. Humanoid robots." – are 1900s science fiction.

Ironically, much of this fiction labels itself "hard sf," despite the fact that interstellar travel is utter fantasy – as is mass-scale, near-term interplanetary civilization:

Karl wants "a future for the 2000s." He points to some efforts to make this happen, like Neal Stephenson's Hieroglyph anthology, edited by Ed Finn and Kathryn Cramer:

The "Hieroglyph" is Stephenson's shorthand for a recognizable, tangible, meme-able gizmo or other touchstone for a 2000s-era vision of the future – a replacement for jetpacks and flying cars. Karl's story for the anthology, "Degrees of Freedom," focuses on an abstraction (governance: "the single most important thing humanity can focus its creative energies on right now"), and by Karl's own admission, it's not quite the hieroglyph Stephenson was looking for.

But Karl did come up with a hieroglyph in a later work, the "deodands" of 2019's Stealing Worlds – a software agent "that believes it is some natural system, such as a river or forest, and acts in its own self-interest, that being the preservation and thriving of that natural system":

I've been impressed with Karl since the day I met him in 1987. There's no one whose thoughts on the future I'm more interested in hearing. I don't think that's a coincidence, either: Karl is an autodidact who was raised by a Mennonite TV repairman – the first TV repair shop in the Canadian prairies. the way im just trying to enjoy my enchiladas oh my god anyway i wasn’t gonna answer just straight up carlos hate asks bc it’s pointless yet here i am

i just find it really interesting that people act like liking carlos = hating charles and vice versa bc that’s the common thread ive been seeing across what people have been saying in my inbox and also in reblogs etc etc . it’s always utilising charles to degrade carlos and specifically his driving performances which in all honesty is very disrespectful to the team as a whole

but the reason that carlos has been getting so much media attention is because there are huge circumstances around him this season . he entered the season not having a seat for next year; people were curious- how would he react? how was he going to prove himself as deserving of a competitive seat for 2025? was the decision going to impact his relationship with the team etc etc etc . there was a lot of questions around him going into the season . especially after the shitshow of the last few races of the 2023 season between his vegas penalty and the god awful tyre strategy they had him on that ruined his race in abu dhabi.

bahrain peaked people’s interest in him- between the ‘im faster’ and team fighting on track (might i add is what you all wanted to see charles do in australia because the team orders were holding him back but got really pissed off that carlos had the gall to fight in bahrain when charles’ pace was thrown off by his breaking issues) . seeing carlos come into the season with so much uncertainty surrounding him and his performance and seeping him qualify second row abd taking a podium on the first race of the season generated more excitement. he was showing the beginnings of a promising final season with ferrari which is a pretty big deal . so of course there is going to be a huge media buzz around him . everyone expects the red bulls to do well it’s not breaking news when max verstappen wins but a driver with nothing to lose driving like he has nothing to lose is an interesting story . it’s journalism girl.

regarding the appendix, again this just adds to the excitement about him . it’s all narrative . like obviously people were shocked when he was diagnosed with appendicitis and it invited jokes about alex albon and his appendicitis which spurred on the media attention . and showing up to watch the race 24 hrs after his surgery of course nobody expected that because he was literally there against doctors orders- which yet again is going to garner a lot of buzz that he is dedicated enough to the team to show up so quickly after surgery .

when it comes to him racing post appendectomy again it’s so obvious that this is something that the media will want to pick up ‘f1 driver takes first non-redbull win in 10 races 2 weeks after surgery’ is a great base headline . that’s journalism baby . but it got people talking because in all honesty he really shouldn’t have been in that car it’s clear that he’s still pretty in pain and people were curious - how will he perform? will he even make it through practise? is he recovered enough to drive? will he have to stop mid race? have they made accommodations to his car to take pressure off his wounds? like you have to remember the toll these cars have on the body of the driver especially across the core. it’s incredibly impressive for someone to get in the car in the process of recovering front any surgery. and for carlos to be still in the late stage of recovery and to pull such impressive results in qualifying and the race is impressive . objectively he had physical hinderance and raced extremely well in spite of it . people are going to talk about it because it is pretty impressive.

as for carlos winning driver of the day again people are just excited . voted him driver of the day in bahrain for his sheer fucking audacity and pulling the first podium of the season which got peoples hopes up for ferraris performance for the rest of the season . he got driver of the day in bahrain because people were extremely impressed with how he raced given his physical circumstances . yes i think charles was also a contender for driver of the day because he also had a great race with the ferrari 1-2 and his defending against the mclarens but driver of the day is a fan vote and people will be voting for what generated the most excitement for them thing the race .

i also wouldn’t say charles GAVE him the position- he already had it . what you’re looking o say is that you’re disappointed charles didn’t have the opportunity to fight for the win. which yeah i get it i would also like to see a charles win this season and some more fighting on the track . but what we need to understand is that this point in time where charles was a few seconds behind carlos the priority was to defend against lando who was showing really good pace at which point charles has to decide if it’s worth trying to close the gap of around 5 seconds or defend against lando who was 2-3 seconds behind him . and obviously at the end he couldn’t increase his speed under the vsc . it’s just racing circumstances .

anyway my point is . is it really that deep in the end . yes carlos is getting a lot of attention right now but it’s just because there’s literally so much going on around him between his career uncertainty illness surgery and stellar performance in the early season . there is no plot against charles or whatever u think is happening and i’m willing to place my life savings that if another driver went under for surgery and pulled those results there wouldn’t be half the backlash as we r seeing . this is just how media works . people are interested in him right now . it’ll pass . we are only 3 races into the season . chill .

Takarazuka Phantom 2004

Wao Youka’s Erik is, to me, remarkably one of the more serious ones compared to the rest of the takarazuka adaptations of phantom. He reminds me a lot of the 1990 phantom film with Charles Dance! How both of them appear so serious but has probably laid out billions of traps around the opera to prank people and can be quite witty. Wao Youka’s Erik is my favorite just because I’m a sucker for that dynamic wherein person A is cold towards everything else except for when it comes to everything about person B. He looks like he’d buy (or steal) a ton of what Christine just off-handedly mentioned she wanted to get once. I absolutely love how there’s a lot of moments wherein Erik just looks lovingly and proudly at Christine and that’s why 2004 has such a special place in my heart.

Out of bias I think that the best Erik and Christine chemistry still goes to 2004. There’s something about the way Hanafusa Mari and Wao Youka acted out on stage that just sits so perfectly with me. Before the climax, the way they’ve interacted on stage just made it seem as though Erik and Christine actually had some mutual feelings towards each other.

While probably unintentional there were several times wherein the characters actually shed a few tears on some really important scenes and I thought that made the performances all the more immersive because you can actually see the deep emotion that they’re feeling on that moment.. like Christine during My True Love :3

Also! For me, it also has the best Alain Cholet! Suzuka Teru gave him so much life, he’s so full of expression and just overall funny.

Takarazuka Phantom 2006

My second favorite Takarazuka Erik is one acted out by Haruno Sumire. To me, her portrayal of Erik makes him twice as angry as Wao Youka’s Erik. I saw him as a ticking bomb, a loser sewer goblin with anger issues. I absolutely LOVED when he shouted at Gerard to leave his lair in anger, because instead of him demanding him in a firm tone to leave, he quite literally SHOUTS at him and that was just (chefs kiss). Instead of full on appearing like a sopping wet dog after his owner left, he just stands there like a pouting little child and that was just hilarious to me. She’s got a bit of that ALW Erik in her.

I decided to put it here since she played both in 2004 and 2006, but I absolutely adore Izumo Aya as Carlotta! When I first watched the 2006 adaptation I didn’t expect to see her there (since it’s a different troupe) but I’ve always loved how she acted out Carlotta with the perfect amount of snarkiness and comedy so its a pleasant surprise!

Takarazuka Phantom 2011

The most hilarious transition from the angriest Erik to the youngest looking and emotional Erik. Ranju Tomu’s Erik looks like the direct descendant of Wao Youka’s Erik but instead of being serious and cold he is just up there on the sog factor. I absolutely love the carmen sabotage in 2011 because it really set the standard to make that moment as chaotic and silly as humanly possible and I’m so in for it; like Erik literally came out of the FLOOR. Ranju Tomu has such a fantastic voice too, not to say every actress who played Erik didn’t (they’re all so amazing), but I felt it to my core whenever she sings. 

His entire character plus the more stoic and cold Gerard of Sou Kazuho makes for such an interesting dynamic. I’ve never seen an adaptation portray him so serious, and I mean that positively:3

Takarazuka Phantom 2018

THE soggiest Erik out of all the takarazuka adaptations. Nozomi Fuuto’s Erik is by far the funniest and most pathetic one yet because of how emotional he is. Everytime something happens to him he just looks like the last panel from that ‘is that your fursona? thats cringe’ meme format. I just absolutely LOVE how miserable he is whenever he’s on stage. He’s always on the verge of crying and that just makes him all the more loveable. The mommy issues on this one is CRAZY! The way Nozomi Fuuto put so much expression into Erik is so cool, it was so clear what emotions he was going through.. even the really complicated ones like confusion and conflict (and most importantly, smitten).

Absolutely love Maaya Kiho as Christine! I just thought that the way she played her was so cute! She was so pretty and she really rocked that feeling that Christine really was just an honest and kind gal with no bad intentions whatsoever.

There’s also the beautiful improvements in costumes and stage effects and it was such a treat to see. Absolutely loved the special rendered intro of the show.

But that’s the end of my little autistic rambling! Thank you for asking, it was such a pleasure! I really can’t rate which is the best because each of the takarazuka adaptations are special in their own way. each adaptation is like the same size of cake on the table for me and im wearing a little bib and holding up my fork and knife

ive been very interested in max and charles' history, but ive been having a hard time keeping track of all the lore, or at least the significant ones 😭 i think it would be cool to have some kind of master post on their history from their karting days to now, including interview moments where they say things like "i hated him as much as he hated me" to "what made me fall in love with racing was the competition, and we had that a lot with max." like i would love to see how they soften for one another over the years but still maintaining that competitive fire.

House MD x M*A*S*H AU Drabbles.

my friend challenged me to write this and a billion ideas immediately spawned in my head but I don't have the motivation to write a proper fic.

-Since House would be too old to he drafted in the army and wouldn't willingly serve his country if his life depended on it, Ive decided that Wilson enlisted him as a prank during a very heated prank war.

-It would be during later seasons so I can draw parallels between BJ and Wilson, but I very much believe Trapper and House would've gotten along

-There would be episodes/chapters/what have you where Houses medication got caught up in supply, or he's forced to sacrifice it like Klinger does with his thread.

Introduction

Throughout the 19th century the use of, corsets, bonnets, top hats, bustles, and petticoats were highly common. Women were consistently characterized by full skirts that gathered more towards the back of the silhouette giving it a train. However as the era came to an end the aesthetics movement began, introducing more flexible floaty clothes which gained popularity, making it more comfortable and relaxing to move about than in the earlier 19th century.

Queen Victoria

The Victorian era lasted from 1837 to 1901, this was the 63 year reign of Queen Victoria over Great Britain and Ireland. Which was when the British Empire expanded globally increasing Britain's power and wealth. Previously men were the main focus of fashion as (fashion usually follows the royal family, determining the current fashionable garments) the former ruler was William IV meaning he was the main style icon for men. However, with Queen Victoria being on the throne, women's fashion took over. One of the roles women obtained through this time was to display the status and wealth of the husbands while the men withdrew into the background. Throughout her reign, many styles emerged and evolved and Queen Victoria became a style icon of the era.

Crinoline

These were originally a stiff fabric with a weft of horsehair and a wrap of cotton or line thread.

This evening dress from 1866 demonstrates the significant size that can be achieved with the crinoline when using the correct dress.

Bustles

In the 1870s, women's fashion emphasised the back of the skirt, including long trains and elaborate bustles filled with intricate layers of flounces and ruching. Compared to the 1860, the waistline was lower and bodices becoming longer and more fitted, while the skirt had a flat front. Low, square necklines were in fashion and hairstyles were styled high at the back with intricate details, often detailed with ribbons, bands, and ornamental combs. during this period hats were small and often tilted forward over the forehead.

Eastern influences

During the middle of the century, a variety of Japanese goods were introduced to Western Europe. The kimono and other types of fabric influenced many garments.

This specific dress with a bustle was re-tailored in London from a Japanese kimono, it was made by hand by Misses Turner.

This evening dress was made in 1894, which was all hand embroidered, strongly influence from Japan and there Japanese prints. Fans were also a very popular accessory which can also incorporate Japanese prints, these were also influenced by Japan. By the end of the Victorian period the skirt had start5ed to decrease in size partly due to the development of the princess line gown.

Mourning in the Victorian Period

There were four periods of mourning, each one with its own rules band customs. The first period of mourning or deep mourning lasted one year and one day. The costumes were of two pieces, a bodice and a skirt.

Working class women could make a cotton dress or dye one in black.

Middle class-women could choose among black wool, cotton or silk.

Upper-class women could use the latest trend but always in silk or wool. The main feature of this period was the long black veil that reached to the waist or to the knees.

Women couldn't wear jewellery. They could only leave home to go to church or visiting relatives. If the wife had no income and small children to raise, they were allowed to marry after this period.

Charles Fredrick Worth

Charles Fedrick Worth was an influential English fashion designer, often regarded as the father of Haute Couture. He introduced the concept of the fashion designer as a creative force and established the first couture house, Maison Worth, in Paris 1858. He was known for dressing royalty and aristocrats.

Date of death : March 10, 1895

Age at Death: 69 years old

In the later half of the 1880s the bustle reduced in size and the dresses changed to a more simplistic style. Worth also considered every aspect of a gown.

In this this image the skirt has reduced in size again, this is called a funnel shape, a neat, slender shape with a flaring hem. Contrasting with this, around 1890 the shoulders expanded. This dress from 1892 is made from off-white satin and velvet sleeves.
