WIP: Jughead dies. Tabitha tries 1384 times to prevent it. It doesn't go very well.

God doesn't understand this love.

Creator loves as superior. Tabitha didn't create this man. She found him fucked up and broken and grown and she loved him for it. This love is an equalizer.

God could never understand love like this.

Tabitha wishes she could take Raphael's hands, his real hands, and push them inside her heart so he could grasp her love in his fist, feel what it means, begin to understand that this love burns brighter than all of God's love for his kingdom. Her love bends the universe to her will. She transcends time with this love.

She looks down at her bloody hands, takes a shaky breath, pushes back Jughead's hair from where it's fallen across his brow. "I'll do better next time, I promise."

Physical Touch Headcannons

Jabitha Week Day 3- Favourite Physical Touch

“How are you feeling now?” Tabitha whispers into her boyfriend’s ear, tenderly grazing her fingertips over his chest. Jughead exhales at the touch and turns his head to look at her. She’s resting her cheek against his shoulder, and he has an arm wrapped around her body. He fiddles coyly with the sleeve of her pink pyjama top; the fabric is silky, and it feels nice against his bare skin.

“A lot better,” he replies, “Being with you always helps.”

Tabitha looks up at him and grins.

“Well, why don’t we stay like this then? We have all night.”

Spin hugs are 100% Jabitha’s thing. Whenever one of them gets excited by something, that’s the default: Jughead finishes a draft? He picks Tabitha up and spins her around. Tabitha takes a step in her franchising? She dives into Jughead’s arms. It’s completely normal for them at this point and they both love it.

In stressful situations they always make sure to establish contact in order to ground each other. They often hold hands under the table or will place their palms on each other’s thighs.

When they’ve both got their hands full, I have this headcannon that they just brush their legs or ankles together, just to be close to each other while carrying out their tasks.

It is VERY important to me that they switch who’s the big spoon and little spoon. I personally think that Tabitha is usually the little spoon, but sometimes when Jughead’s having a rough day, he finds it comforting to be held.

Their favourite thing to do is watch movies together. I completely believe that they have TV dates once a week where they take turns picking the film and snacks, then just cuddle up on the couch together. They each have their own blanket, but both end up sharing one. And the couple always start sitting side by side, however by the end of the night Tabitha’s usually got her head on Jughead’s lap or is completely wrapped around him- he can’t deny that it’s cute.

Whenever a jump scare happens on in whatever they’re watching, they always instinctively tighten their grip on each other. Then they’ll make teasing jokes about their partner being scared because of course.

Tabitha frequently rests her head on Jughead’s shoulder: she’s the perfect height for it, and when she’s in a particularly touchy mood or starting to get tired, she’ll just grab his arm and lean into him.

On the topic of height, she has to stand on her tip toes to kiss him a lot of the time! That’s not always the case (because sometimes he bends down) but it is whenever she catches him off guard.

Ok, this isn’t a headcannon but their HANDS when they KISS! The hand holds, cupping each other’s face, hands on each other’s shoulders, arms around each other and so much more?! It’s so precious.

Jughead puts his hand on Tabitha’s shoulder/neck whenever he’s saying something sincere that he wants her to take note of- a canon detail I’ve noticed that we should definitely be talking about more.

Tabitha is the type of person to get super cuddly and clingy when she’s tired, sick, or stressed and I feel like that’s how Jughead tells that something’s up with her. 

Sex isn’t at the forefront of their relationship, however when they are intimate, it’s always super loving and very well communicated.

I can just imagine them casually brushing arms as they cook together! Asdfghjk it’s such a cute thing to picture, them working side by side, making random contact and then just smiling at each other.

Neither of them is at all subtle regarding PDA, and I’m sure their friends would give them frequent side eyes, seeing them with their arms around each other and holding hands so often.

Tabitha gives Jughead affectionate cheek kisses all the time, and although it shocks him if she does it while he’s zoned in on something, he absolutely adores it.

They both love to play with each other’s hair. Sometimes one of them will just lay down on their partner's lap and fall asleep like that while the other person strokes their head.

The last time a carnival had come to Riverdale, Betty's dad was chaperoning the pre-teen trio of Betty, Archie, and Jughead as they raced into the lines of rides they were finally tall enough for. Ever since Jason's death, and the subsequent events that followed, the grounds behind the local mall remained empty, a haunted husk of ferris wheels and funnel cakes. Jughead remembers going there with Archie at the very end of senior year, sitting together where the caricature booth used to be, neither of them acknowledging the upcoming burden of graduation (or the lack there of).

But things have changed in Riverdale again, this time for the better, and every street corner is covered with signs advertising the carnival's return.

Pop's has been offered a small plot to celebrate the fair's arrival, and the truck is parked opposite the caricature stand.

Business is slower than Tabitha had originally anticipated, due in part to the dark clouds looking overhead. The rain hasn't started yet, but every news station says that it should be soon, so most of the town has preemptively taken refuge.

There's still a few people taking their chance with the weather though. Betty and Veronica already stopped by for a black coffee and a vanilla latte respectively, their arms linked together as they took their drinks. In the distance Jughead can also see the vague shape of Reggie, who's spent most of his afternoon trying to beat a ring toss game.

"You know, I've never actually been to a carnival." Tabitha says from where she's sitting on the counter beside the sink.

"Really?"

"There weren't any in the part of Chicago I'm from, and my dad wouldn't have wanted to travel far enough to find one." she slides off the counter and onto her feet. "But I thought now would be as good a time as ever to check one out."

She offers her hand out to Jughead. "You coming?"

Jughead laces his fingers together with hers and it's only a matter of seconds before he's being pulled out of the door.

There's a gentle breeze slicing through the thick summer humidity, granting them some much needed relief from weeks of thunderstorms and heatwaves. And the overcast sky means it's just dark enough for the carnival's lights to flicker to life, illuminating the space around them with bright pinks and blues.

Tabitha gives Jughead's hand a small squeeze.

"C'mon, I wanna kick Reggie's ass at that game he won't stop playing."

Jughead laughs. "Are you gonna win me a stuffed animal?"

"In your dreams. If it's my good aim that's winning, then it's my prize to keep."

She doesn't end up winning until her third try (and Reggie finally wins mere seconds after Tabitha does, but whether it's because the employee pitied him or not is up for debate), and she picks a large stuffed bear dressed in suspenders and a bowtie from the prize counter before handing it off to Jughead.

"I thought you wanted to keep the bear for yourself?"

"Changed my mind. You looked like you needed a friend." She kisses his cheek as she steps in front of him, grabbing his hand and pulling him towards the ferris wheel.

The rain begins just as they're reaching the top of the ride. It's a nice break from the muggy heat of the summer, and it's light enough that neither of them have to change when they make their way back to the food truck.

Tabitha collapses into the closest chair as soon as she shuts the door behind her, closing her eyes and undoing her ponytail.

"Tired?" Jughead asks, a teasing tone in his voice as he takes a seat beside her.

She slowly reopens her eyes and takes the bear from him, pressing it against her chest as she sinks deeper into the cushions.

"A little. If the rain clears up, I still think we should get funnel cake, though. I know I'm not too tired for that."

Riverdale (specialties: Alice, Fp, Hermione, Betty (my Betty is either a rep of how toxic she is on the show or an ooc version of her cuz I'm salty about bad mental illness rep), Jughead (no whump or woobifying him, he is a regular character who deals with less bs bc I don't feel like writing over the top bs in my stories...at least not to the extent of the show), VERONICA, Archie, Josie, TONI, and Cheryl. Ships I'm good at are Beronica, Falice, Barchie, Veggie, Jarchie, Jeronica, I'd be willing to watch season 5 to learn about Jabitha so I could write that, Choni, etc.)

Life in Riverdale is crazy, unpredictable, absurd, as Tabitha has come to know. The town always seems to have some new problem to throw at its residents, which makes living in Riverdale a constant stress.

She sighs heavily when she gets home, playing with her keys as she enters her apartment and hangs up her coat. There were only a few days until Percival's attempt at destroying Riverdale and the doom of her boyfriend's death hangs high over her head.

How was it possible that in every scenario, every single one, Jughead had to die? The universe must have some kind of grudge against them specifically for whatever reason to torment them this much.

"Tabitha? Are you home?" Jughead's voice asks from the couch, snapping her back to reality.

She makes her way over to him, putting a smile on her face. "Yeah, just needed to collect my thoughts." She takes a seat next to him and smiles at him softly. "Hi."

"Hi," he responds, planting a kiss on her lips. She leans into it, grateful for the comfort it brings her, that she still has him, if only for a little longer.

When they break apart, Tabitha notices a look of concern on his face. "Is everything okay?" he questions, bringing his hand to her neck. "You seem disconnected."

She takes a breath, her shoulders tightening. She can't lie to Jughead about something so serious, something that's been on her mind for the longest time. "You're right, it's just all this Percival stuff."

Jughead nods. "I understand." He removes his hand and gestures for her to lie down on his lap, which she does immediately, falling back with ease and making herself comfortable.

Once she's nestled into position, Tabitha smiles up at him. "This is nice," she says, holding out her hand to be picked up, which he does gently while keeping one hand on her shoulder.

He nods in agreement. "I know. I wish we could stay like this forever."

Tabitha lets out a short chuckle at that. If only they could have more than a moment of peace in this crazy town, maybe they could, forever entwined in each other's touch. If only they'd be allowed that freedom of peace one day if Jughead somehow managed to survive his death. Maybe then.

The simple thought gave Tabitha something to hope for, to long for, so she sends the thought to Jughead.

She knows he receives it when she sees the same flicker of hope in his eyes, and they smile at each other. One day, she thinks.

"One day," Jughead echos.
