I told the creators of Welcome to Night Vale about the sexyman poll.

im taking a narrative podcast production course, and we had joseph fink and jeffery cranor come speak to the class over zoom

as the final question of our Very Serious QA panel, i told them about the tumblr sexyman poll, with hundreds of thousands of votes, and that cecil still won a decade later. i asked if the power of creating The Sexiest Fictional Man was something that could go to their heads. they couldnt stop laughing.

joseph gave a long spiel about how grateful he is for the impact Night Vale had — he told a story about seeing a fictional flights board in an airport and that it felt so strange to see Night Vale up there. he was super humble and said that Night Vale ‘belongs to the fans’ and takes no ownership of Sexy Creationism.

then jeffery comes in like ‘yeah, what he said, but personally i think it does go to my head’ and giggled and said “It feels pretty awesome.”

I just wanna throw this out there because of the Night Vale Revival that is occurring on Tumblr, so if you like wonderful voices and people of Cecil and Carlos, played by Cecil Balwin and Jeffrey Cranor, they actually host another podcast together called "Random Horror Podcast Number 9".

Basically Jeffery is scared of horror movies. Cecil loves horror movies. So each week they randomly pick a horror movie to watch. It's fun to listen to since they do talk about the entire movie so you can hear opinions on your favorite movies, can know a plot to a new horror movie if you don't handle horror well, or you can see the title and try it out first before listening to it. They are very nice about all of it and it has been going on at least 2 years now so a lot of episodes to pick from, but it's fun either way

one thing about night vale is that i will rarely complain about writing quality like ive been listening for years and if i know one thing about finknor its that their idea of a series bible is a napkin theyve written key character names on and thats it. sometimes they lose the napkin and have to remake it and they lose characters doing that. every episode might be written in the notes app in 40 minutes running on nothing but vague memory of an arc from 10 years ago and an idea of what sounds cool that day. and thats what I signed up for!! it fucking slaps thats what the shows all about baby!!!!

It's framed like a biography that the Faceleed Old Woman is telling Craig, the descendant of the man who killed her. After she dies, as a sort of ghost, she haunts and attempts to kill her murderer, but she fails. She then spends the rest of time manipulating and killing all of his descendants. She is constantly doing things that they don't notice to get them to have kids, etc, and then when they get old enough, causes an accident so the first born son always dies. The villain, and TFOW murderer is also a manipulator. He gets her on a wild goose chase for years to find out who killed her father, and managed to trick her into a situation where he could kill her.
