And before you ask, yes I based her off of me, so this particular Israel Hetalia oc in essence is Ashkenazi . I am aware of Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Mizrahi, and the many other groups of Jewish folks exist in the country of Israel and around the world.

Goy with a fandom based Judaism related question, and you seemed like the person to go to re: Erik Lehnsherr.

What are the material requirements for a kippah? I’m mostly asking cuz normally wears his Anti-Charles helmet, but if he was going to a Jewish funeral or synagogue service would his helmet count? I’ve heard a lot of Jews in more antisemitic areas often wear a more western style hat to keep mitzvot while staying safe around antisemites, but still switch to some sort of Jewish head covering for synagogue.

idk much about Magneto’s practice of/approach to Judaism, either. Not sure on which mitzvot he keeps (I imagine supervillainy may conflict with many!) but any Jewish man I’ve ever known, regardless of differing practices, wouldn’t wear anything but their minhag or cultures traditional headcovering to a Jewish service. Not sure if his want to keep Charles out would interfere with his respectful attendance. (Part of me hopes he’d just put a piece of metal in a kippah and magnetize it to his helmet, I don’t think the Torah says anything against two hats in my limited knowledge)

Actually many Orthodox and Observant Jews already wear double head coverings when praying, a hat *over* a Kippah. That's why you'll see Chassidic Jews with Streimels or caps or fedoras.

Additionally, many Jews already add pieces of metal to their kippot - hair clips! Some kippot now are made with clips sewn into bottom of the Kippah, and they're very popular as B'nei Mitvah party favours. My family has a whole drawer of monogramed Klipped kippot collected over the years from B'nei Mitvah and weddings and the like.

So while Magneto's helmet could technically count as a Kippah, I think he could also have a special traditional kippah with extra metal. Or, he could wear a normal kippah under his helmet. There's many possibilities.

The guy in question is the main character of a New Vegas AU I’m writing, known as In the Shadow of the Valley. He’s an Ex Desert Ranger who left just before their official merge with the NCR. His name is Joseph Chaim, and if it isn’t obvious already, he’s Jewish.

He hails from a collection of Mojave towns known as The Blue Star, one of the few places in the entire wasteland that has Jews, and one of two known places that has a primarily Jewish population. The other is an NCR town located in the ruins of Oakland, California.

Here he is with the AU’s version of Courier Six, an experienced wastelander from the southern reaches of the NCR. She’s joined his militia, the Free Mojave Forces because of her agreement with his common goal. Also, in case she looks like a small woman, she’s 5 foot 7. Joseph is two meters tall, without ears.

Born in 2251 and having joined the Desert Rangers at the age of 15, Joseph is an experienced fighter with a kill ratio that some veteran NCR Rangers don’t have. 47 Legionaries, 30 Slavers, and 23 Raiders. Being immersed in combat for so long, it’s no surprise he’s racked up that kind of body count, and that’s before he started the Free Mojave Forces. Since then, it’s only grown.

He’s no soulless killer though, he has an intended goal, and it’s simple: Kill Caesar and crush his Legion, to keep the Mojave free from their terror. The NCR won’t have to worry about blood being spilled if their heads remain cool, hopefully. Hi idk if this will reach anyone who could help me with this but I ll throw in my request anyway:

I m writing a fantasy novel set in a setting similar to 7th century earth and I want to make one of my characters Jewish coded ( I might make it explicit in the story later but for now I can only imply it because the point of view character is not from earth so I wouldn't expect them to recognise different religions at first glance ) . She is a north African royal woman who from an outsider viewpoint has an unclear role as either a "villain" or "good guy" and might be the subject of lots of rumours. I want to work on how she would be seen from the outside but I want to avoid antisemitic stereotypes while still keeping it clear that she is Jewish. If someone who's Jewish could help me with some suggestions either through asks or dms I would really appreciate it.

TBH, I'm... a bit unsurprised, but still disappointed. This very much looks like a montage meant to explain to the viewers why none of these officiants is a viable one. So it's already kind of disheartening to see the option of the rabbi presented in this context. But it's also upsetting to see that a rabbi who is fully accepting of Tarlos as a gay couple is sort of implied to be just as unacceptable as a priest who is telling them they're going to hell. I also feel like there MUST be more accepting priests in Austin, so the choice to present one like this should probably also be upsetting. Not to mention that I'm not sure why a man with that POV would even agree to meet with Tarlos to discuss being their officiant. Like, nothing about this little bit works for me (the one part that does is the lady who wants them to have the difficult conversations before marriage, because actually? Yes. THAT is sound advice). But yeah, as a Jew in a permanent state of deprivation when it comes to actually good Jewish rep, my gut tells me this ep doesn't look like what I was hoping for.
