You know what, season 2 broke a lot of our hearts, didn't it? Well, here's some moments I thought were funny, heartwarming and just off the wall to lighten things up!

Starting with the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc and if y'all want, I'll do a part 2 for the Shibuya Incident!

NOTE: I may have talked about some of these moments before in other posts.

Utahime, just all of Utahime in the first episode. She's awesome, I adore her. "SHOOOOKOOOO!!"

Chibi Satoru and Suguru. Especially the part of Suguru walking up the stairs as the others were talking. "Urusei."

"SENSEI, I SAY WE STOP THIS HUNT FOR THE CULPRIT!"

"SO IT WAS YOU!"

"Blegh!"

The fact that Suguru even went from wearing regular-waist pants to high-waist ones from manga to anime is glorious. Whoever decided that knew Suguru was meant to be a fashion icon.

I love Satoru Gojo, I do. But with those glasses, he really do be looking like one of the Three Blind Mice from Shrek.

I don't know how but Toji somehow made saying he took his wife's last name scary. Like, he was very intimidating that it bypass me the first time of how cute it is that he loved Mamaguro a lot.

They actually added Suguru fixing himself a cup of tea in the anime!! This teenager really had that man captured by some Kissing Curse, told him he couldn't be a rice farmer and had himself some tea. Iconic.

Ooh, Satoru didn't have to do Bayer like that. But I applaud him for taking such a selfie!

Riko actually was the first to defeat Satoru. Did him dirty!! Suguru actually laughs at Satoru getting slapped while in the anime he looks shocked. Either way, his reaction is funny as hell.

"You look like a liar! And what's up with those bangs?" Then Riko got jumped for that!

Suguru's bangs ain't that bad, come on!

Knowing how Suguru turns out, it's something he's the one to tell Kuroi that she's Riko's family. Years later, he had his own "family". It's actually heartwarming he tells her that.

That old man didn't even get touched yet and he was already seeing his dead dog from 50 years ago!! Man's life flashed right before his eyes and he even says that! The whooping Suguru put on him was so bad that he was having visions!!

The one time Satoru is shown to have some sort of charm is with a bunch of school girls. The teacher should be locked up though.

Baghead man really had on the All Might cosplay.

Toji didn't have to say a word to that man and he still scared him shitless. Alright, Toji, I see you being all scary!

Satoru really be carrying kids like they're bags of groceries. Did it with Yuji, he did it with Riko.

"I failed!"

Kuroi being rescued! Satoru really stomped on those guys!

The plane scene. Satoru checking each passenger all with a glare. Meanwhile, Suguru was just chilling with a book, sitting there all pretty.

The whole beach scene!! "IT'S A SEA CUCUMBER!!"

Teen Kento having that hairstyle and his dynamic with Yu is just too adorable. He looks like he has Wii music playing in his head all day. Such a good kid!!

I cannot believe that DIO's VA is also Toji's. It's funnier when Toji has had beef with Satoru as a kid and DIO has had generational beef with the Joestars.

I just know that Worm Curse was having the time of its life on Toji's back while he was jumping around and being tossed about. Also, Toji smiling the whole time while fighting.

Suguru actually has mad hops! Did y'all not see that long ass jump?!

Squid gun. Speaking of, where in the hell did all those squids come from?! I need a story on that one!

"Am I pretty?" "Sorry, you're not my type." Okay, well, damn.

The Worm Curse pretty much "NOPE" at Suguru.

That kick was fucking personal, I just know it! Also, the fact that Toji actually thought about the curses inhabiting Suguru's body is something. Especially, given later. I actually question that when Suguru dies in JJK 0, did Satoru have to deal with any curses?

Also, if you pay attention to the Worm, that thing sometimes matches Toji's expressions. It's like Reki and his headband (SK8 the Infinity).

"Is he high?" Well, given that a few moments later he'll be floating in the air.

The fact that people have described Toji's death as "turned into the Apple logo" to "the Rengoku treatment". Y'all are out of pocket! And he looked so disappointed, too.

"Mommy... hug me..." That scene is just...

"I like girls with healthy appetites!" Yu, never change!!

Yuki's reaction to what Suguru tells her about what he has heard about her. "She's pouting."

"I heard you the first time. That's why I said 'huh'!" Bro was just that mad.

Shoko. Just Shoko when she and Suguru meet in Shinjuku.

Heartbreaking as the scene is, you had one lanky ass teenager looking deranged on one end and the other with the "I'm going to the store real quick" fit on having this fight in front of KFC. Becomes even funnier when you remember the slogan "finger lickin' good". What does this have to do with anything? Think about Yuji.

One, where did Suguru get the robes from? Two, given he was born the following year in February after Satoru, if I did my calculations right... Suguru really started a cult at 17. No wonder there were objections. After he killed that guy, I'm sure everyone was like "oh, he's unhinged".

Okay, but the head rubs he gave the twins were so cute!! Look, they may been raised as killers, but it's sweet that they were Suguru's family. He adored those girls and they adored him!

hello! ^^.

as a member of the cutecore/kawaiicore community i see a lack of lists on the internet suggesting anime for the fans of the aesthetic or just cute things! i decided to make up for that, and hope you all ( or at least someone ), finds this list helpful! Either way, at least it’s there! ^^. And this list will not include titles like Nekopara and such, as while the anime is fine, I don’t encourage people to watch it because of the games!

Some GENUINELY cute animes, that have cute designs, good storylines, and just are overall really cute are

Tokyo Mew Mew ( original is on YouTube! ), and it’s’ remake - which is on Hidive! It follows five girls who are infused with the DNA of endangered species; and are out to save the world from aliens who want to harm the universe even more - and use animals to do so. The character designs are adorable, and the plot line is really interesting - especially if you’re a fan of magical girl anime/manga!

Cardcaptor Sakura ( on Netflix and Crunchyroll! ), is an especially cute series - that follows 5th grader Sakura and her family and friends, as she collects a magical card every episode, while also navigating through her life and meeting new people! It’s incredibly cute and heartfelt, and the character design is lovely. I highly suggest this one - I am slightly bias, as it’s a favorite of mine lol!

Any series in the Precure franchise is also incredibly cute + and each has their own character design! I’d definitely suggest the franchise for anyone looking for a dose of cute characters, songs, and just an overall fan of magical girls or cute designs! ^^. Most of the series are on Crunchyroll!

A cute series, while I haven’t gotten around to watching myself but has adorable character designs and a cute plot, is Squid Girl! It really fits the theme of kawaiicore/cutecore - and also has a unique premise that makes it really stand out! This series can be watched on Crunchyroll. <3

My final suggestion which is already well known within the community is Chobits! It does have some fan service, however the main lead is incredibly cute and relatable - and she is very fun to watch go about her life as a robot! It does have some serious topics and like I said, fan service - so I would only suggest if you are okay with that, however if not - that’s totally fine too!! ^^.

Yes I do have 24/7 bsd brainrot. From what I remember the show stopped around chapter 111/112. The manga is slightly different from the name so I would start reading from 111. The current chapter that just came out is 114! So there isn't too much you're behind on. I'm glad you're enjoying the show. Happy manga reading!

Pseudo Harem Reviews: Episode 1

I don't want to clutter my art blog with 12+ nerding out posts, so I'll be posting episode reviews here every week instead!

Animation

It’s a bit on the cheaper side, but that’s okay since the art style is very faithful and nice, even down to the slightly crooked mouths in some scenes- which I personally find a bit charming! Another change I like is adding a blue-grey tint to Rin’s hair to stop it from blending too much into other dark objects like her blouse!

I do wish that the animation got to be a bit higher quality at points. To list a similar show for comparison like Tomo, it at least had some dynamic animation for action shots and better lighting in the night scenes. At least showing some visual or audio cue for Rin’s switch in personas would help. Also I'm not sure I like how the personas are listed as stuff like "spoiled girl" instead of "Spoiled-Chan", "Spoiled Rin", "Sweet-girl" or anything to solidify their identities more. I can only hope a potential dub is able to figure out how to make it work!

Voice Acting

I’m not a longtime fan of Saori Hayami like some of the people who follow her in Spy X Family, Oregairu, and more, but I like the work she does here as Rin! I agree with the few people who say her voice is a biiiit too adult for a high schooler, but I at least like her voices for Cool-chan and Spoiled-chan. Her takes on Cheeky and Tsundere could be a bit more on the high-pitched side though. Still excited to hear more though!

Nobuhiko Omamoto as Eiji is nice too in one of the more subdued roles I’ve seen him in- he does a great job of capturing Eiji’s straightforward and goofy sides and you can feel why Rin likes him early on!

And I’m still crossing my fingers for a phenomenal dub too, which should hopefully get more new viewers onboard with this show! (PLEASE don’t be a bad dub…)

Music - OP and ED

So far nothing major to note in the soundtrack- just your standard highschool romcom style score. I will say I love both the OP and ED as songs- they’re great and I’ve already added what I can to my playlists! And I do hope we get the Rin and Eiji version of the opening down the line too (and maybe some extra surprises hopefully?)

It’s just a shame when the opening suffers from some of the cheapest animation in the whole show- it’s supposed to be the thing that hooks viewers into watching, but over half of it is just a bunch of still PNGs, barely showing the actual Pseudo Harem gimmick until the chorus.

At least the ED has cooler and more creative visuals with the anime-to-manga hybrid beginning, the rap verse from Rin, and better showing off all her personas (I find it a bit funny they’re trying to showcase every single one rather than the main 4-5 to entice new viewers more and maybe provide more contrast haha)

Pacing

And here we have the elephant in the room. I was so hyped for this series I didn’t even consider that the short disconnected nature of the series’ early chapters would lead to a very disjointed first few episodes.

If the show wanted to spend more effort on animation, they could have either rearranged the chapters so that the similar ones in the same settings got paired up into bigger scenes like how Squid Girl did it. If I could have everything my way, I would just extend the episodes with lots of original content, but I know that’s unrealistic.

If not, then short connecting scenes or establishing shots could help, or even interlude cards if you really want to save on budget. From what I’ve heard new viewers say, they all really liked the series concept, the characters, and their dynamic, but they were really put off by the pacing, assuming it would be this way for the whole show. And sadly, I can’t blame them for being disappointed since they don’t know the series will go into longer arcs and better-paced episodes as it goes on.

The choice to move their first meeting to the first scene was also very odd, as it shows why Eiji likes Rin, but creates a weird and unclear timeskip where she likes him by the Ch1 gym scene immediately after, and also kind of diffuses a bit of the tension on whether Eiji actually likes Rin or just the Pseudo Harem for the first 40 chapters or so.

I can only hope the show better arranges the scenes to keep the viewers’ attention from Episode 2 onwards!

Extras/Overall

I still had tons of fun with this pilot though! I do hope it shapes up a bit more in the animation and pacing departments, and I hope new viewers will give this show the usual 3-episodes chance at the very least! This is still my most anticipated anime of 2024 and I can’t wait for more!

A/N: Can you tell that I love the Cyan Team? I may have remembered this whole battle by heart

A/N 2: Sorry about the wait! I've been busy taking splatoon manga art requests :D

Back to the start! Previous Next

Your destination is set on Walleye Warehouse, excited to see another interesting battle. On the way to Inkopolis Tower, you think you hear your name being mentioned. You take a look around and see a group of squids that immediately move their attention to each other when they saw that you took notice of them.

“Odd.”

Ignoring that, you get comfortable in the stands at Walleye Warehouse. This wasn’t an official battle, so there were only a couple of people there. You’re sure more would come once people start to hear about the battle, but you’d enjoy the quieter-than-usual stands for now.

Mask’s back on the cargo box in the middle of the stage, it seems he sent that text message to the Blue Team then didn’t bother moving. Designer is sitting on the ground, leaning back against the same cargo box that Mask is on, Gameboy in hand. Luna and Jersey are doing the same, while Jersey is looking over her shoulder to watch Luna play whatever video game she has inserted in her DS. 

‘Looks like typical Cyan team alright.’ 

You smile to yourself, enjoying how much more lively - if you can call it that - the characters seem. They seem less like, well, characters from a manga. Less lifeless and 2d. Sure, they’re just being lazy, but seeing the way Jersey’s eyes light up when Luna presumably does well or seeing Designer move his Gameboy in the way you would in MarioKart, even though it’s useless, only reminds you that you’re really there. Mask shifts his phone from one hand to the other, you assume he’s watching anime while waiting for his opponents. It almost seems careless, but you know he has the strength to back it up. 

He notices the Blue Team’s presence before you do, and he introduces himself. The way he says he’s a part of the S4 is almost scary, you’re sure a sense of dread would wash over any other opponent. But Team Blue sure is built differently, and that’s what’s going to give them their win today. 

‘Oh, never mind,’ you think after hearing the way Headphones screeches in terror, and how surprised Specs is.

“I caaaan’t believe you guys actually fell for that text message…you idioooots.”

“I thought it might be a trap.”

You look beside you, recognizing Rider’s voice right away. It almost seems as if that was directed at you, the way he said it. You hadn’t noticed him before, probably because you were too focused on Cyan Team.

Goggles tries to hype up his team, but Mask cuts them off, denying his optimism and stating the usual “I hate all inkings who enjoy life.” shenanigans.

“You wooon’t be smiling once I’m done with youuu.”

‘Yeah, okay, then beat them, Mask. ’  You think to yourself, mocking the way he overestimates himself.

The Squid Sisters announce the teams, and it the battle starts. Both teams begin inking, and you notice how the Cyan team moves in one at a time. It doesn’t seem very effective, but they each have their own area to cover, along with the strength to do so. The one to move in the farthest away from spawn is Luna, which makes sense as she’s the first to attack with her sub-weapon. Ink mine.

‘I guess it’d be kinda dumb to put ink mines right at spawn, figures that she’s out first.’

Jersey’s up next, attacking for a second to distract Specs after placing a sprinkler, just long enough for him to successfully get splatted. Next comes Designer’s disrupter. It slows Goggles down enough for Mask to unleash a Seeker bomb, splatting Goggles without any effort. You hear Mask snicker while watching Goggles’ little squid-ghost float away, it looks like he’s enjoying the battle. Not for long, though. You remember this panel, and although it’s hard to see under his gasmask, you know that he’s smiling.

You lean forwards, wanting to hear Mask announce those scary words. You wouldn’t wanna go up against this.

“This is our… Sub Weapon Hell!”

You smile at that and sit back in your seat, enjoying the way Mask is crushing his opponent with minimal effort. For the time being. You giggle at Bobble when she remarks that it’s not fair play. But hey, if the Judd-ges don’t call you out for it then it works.

And since when do Carbon rollers splat in one shot when rolled over? Bobble must have already been weakened, you figure.

“Hey. You swing your roller down before running your opponent over, though.” Rider projects his voice enough for Mask to hear and respond, and you just shrug your shoulders.

The Cyan team spreads out, ready to attack from any angle. Mask sneaks up behind headphones and Specs.

“Does he have Ninja Squid? That sounds perfect for him. I bet he has sub saver, ink saver, and special charge-up. Speaking of, usually, the gasmask comes with tenacity, right? But his teammates don’t die very much, so maybe the main ability is Special Charge up too?” You focus back on the battle before you. You lean forward once again, knowing what’s coming.

“Oh, here comes Mask’s bomb rush! Seekers sound like a pain to avoid for this one.”

There’s barely any time to dodge the barrage of seekers, and Goggles gets crushed by the bombs. It looks like it inked a fair part of the stage, too. Bobble is the only one left unsplatted, and here comes the turnaround. Mask does his best to scare her, but his efforts are futile when Bobble makes him rethink the way he battles.

You’re disappointed in the way such a high-ranker like him just lets himself be struck by the inkstrike, even if he was slightly distracted. You shake your head and frown slightly. But it looks like that might be a weakness that should be written down in your manual, assuming he’s not used to being uncertain of things. How did that Inkstrike manage to get all of Team Cyan anyways, were they really all grouped up that close? What a noob move. You start to rethink his rank, but then you remember how unbeatable they seemed to be just a few minutes ago and chalk it up to maybe Mask just having an off day or something. It still sucks, but it’s not like you’re there to battle beside him and help him. Ah, it looks like Jersey doesn’t have Ninja Squid. Skill issue. Mask gets distracted once again, underestimating goggles and letting him attack from behind. Oh, how the tables have turned.

Rider chimes in again, seemingly proud of Team Blue. That’s cute, you’re glad to see some character development from him, too.

You chuckle when you hear Luna mention the idea of ‘cursing’ Team Blue. Again, typical Team Cyan. It’s really too bad you aren’t friends with anyone, or the fact that you’re not allowing yourself to be known, because hanging out with these squids does seem fun. Introducing my son to his first Studio Ghibli movie gotta be part of my family tradition! He sat and really enjoyed Ponyo yesterday for a long time in comparison to how long he usually sits and watches movies.

He enjoyed the opening with all the amazing creatures.

He also pronounced Ponyo properly and how they say it in the movie (Pon-yoh, and was firm about this admirably), without the heavy "O" I usually say it with. I explained as many of the creatures as I could.

He was most keen on seeing a squid randomly, I didn't even know he knew what a squid was but its not surprising with how much I like sea creatures, especially things like octopus.

But yes, a bunch of squid turned up, so he was pleased about that. 🐙 🦑

I was funny showing him all her funny little siblings, too. "What are THEY?" Honestly, dude, nobody knows, just they're Ponyos miniature swarm of sibling babies.

I watched my first Studio Ghibli movie (Howl's Moving Castle) around 11, and it was the first "anime" style piece of media I fell in love with (and Howl lmao) and which has caused me to adore manga and anime so much to this day, still.

I hope when he's older, he might end up liking it. It's okay if he doesn't, though. It's very important to me that he builds up his own interests rather than mine. I try to let him pick everything that resonates with him whilst also introducing him to stuff I like, stuff I'm not into he might like, and giving him an option. Obviously, though, like anyone, it feels lovely, too, when you share things of common interest with your kids.

I'm trying to save up to see the theatre production of Spirited Away next year in London. Oh god, how I hope I can get there. He might even be able to come, but we must try out cinema trips first and see how those go.

My 2022 Review - Section 1: Anime

So… we can all go on record and say anime isn’t cringe anymore, right? Not sure what happened, because now anime movies and merchandise are more accessible than ever. Back when I was a kid, it was cringe to go to the manga section at Border’s but now, it’s a normal thing to do. I’ve bought more manga this year than I ever thought I would. Just today I managed to find a Yuyu Hakusho t-shirt at Wal-mart of all places and I snagged that bad boy so fast. You know how difficult it is to find YYH merchandise in general? Next to impossible.

I’m not exactly sure what fired off this Renaissance of anime, but it has gotten me back into my roots of what I grew up on. This is the first year in a long time where I have watched multiple series of anime more than actual tv series because there were a lot of home run hits that came out this year. To be honest, I don’t think I’ve watched this much anime since I was in high school. I know many have watched a lot more, but here is my definitive list of what I have watched this year.

Demon Slayer: The Entertainment District Arc

Already starting out of the gate strong with what was to come. It was a beautiful 10 episode run, and with the next arc already announced for April 2023, I'm excited to see more. 10/10

Shenmue

Oh? You didn't know there was a Shenmue anime released back in February? Well you should have. Taking concepts from Shemue I & II, hopefully maybe that the Shenmue story can continue on in this media style instead of waiting for a game every 20 years to complete the story of Ryo and Lan Di. 8/10

Tomodachi Game

What if Among Us & Squid Game had a baby? Yeah, that's Tomodachi Game. It was alright, but I have a feeling this isn't going to be getting a second season. There were two many questions that led to more questions than answers and despite Crunchyroll showing this on their site, it was kind of meh. 6/10

Rising of the Shield Hero (Season 1)

This is probably the only anime on this list I started watching as a suggestion from my boss. She was right, it is good....until the very end of Season 1. When the romance subplot started going through and it was slowly turning into a harem rather than a dad simulator....I lost hope. I loved the Shield Hero as being this anti-hero character who was forced into this corner due to being dealt a bad hand, but when that plot went out the window by taking away the most interesting part of his personality and making him a more likable character because friendship, I couldn't go on. Also the CGI in Season 2 was so bad it made my eyes hurt.

Bleach (specifically the Soul Society Arc)

I initially went into Bleach to prep for the new arc that is running now (more on that late), but damn the Soul Society Arc goes hard....and then the entire series just kind of wanes away. After I found out through the Crunchyroll comments about the shitton of filler the anime had, I just kind of gave up. The new arc's popularity is probably in a niche community outside of tumblr because I have not seen it mentioned or hit trending (like most of the other shows on this list), most likely due to its exclusivity to Hulu & Disney Plus of all places. I watched one episode of the new series and the art style was jarring and getting back into the show felt like whiplash and not a steady flow.

Needless to say, I did like the Soul Society Arc for one reason and one reason only and it was to hear this, from an anime...back in 2006.

8/10 for Soul Society.

Lupin the Third Part 1 dub, Part 6 Section 2, and Part 6 dub, and some of Lupin Zero.

Lupin has once again consumed most of my year...again. In January, we got the last few episodes of Part 1 dubbed, which then led into the second half of Part 2. This second half has some of the better episodes of this part so Part 6 could hold some dignity. The dub of Part 6 was fantastic as well. Gayest stuff I could ever listen to.

I'm not going to get into great detail about it here because I've gone through it several times.

Part 6 overall gets a 6.5/10 If I could by each individual episode, this is their ratings Episode 0, The Times: Infinity/10 - Objectively the best Lupin episode to have been made and will ever be made. Episode 15 - 10/10 Episode 16 - Magma/10 Episode 17 - Kiss My Ass/10 Episode 19 - Slay Yata Slay/10 Episode 20 - GAY GAY HOMOSEXUAL GAY/10 Episode 21 - Best fanfiction/10 Best Quote of the entire Series - "I didn't get most of that, but I'm down to smack his [Lupin's] ass" - Daisuke Jigen (as voiced by Richard Epcar), episode 24

Also so far, Lupin Zero looks, sounds, and feels fantastic.

Jojo Part 6: Stone Ocean

This series had so much potential, and it held off until the very end (like literally the last 14 episodes). To truly appreciate what this part meant you would have had to suffer all the way through. My favorite fight was Weather vs. Pucci and completely forgetting how the KKK got involved and the plot was 'Sweet Home Alabama' for a hot minute threw me for a loop. That last episode ending was pretty dope though.

6.5/10 because of how the quality had to get better through the whole part to truly enjoy the ending and even as a Jojo fan, I'm still confused by what Emporio held as significance to being the key to saving the entire universe.

Chainsaw Man (still in development)

So far, this show has been going hard and I'm loving it. To pull the card of killing off a bunch of characters early on in the show was a nice move. There are still unanswered questions, but I have a feeling we will get answers in due time.

Love Denji, he's a simple man with simple needs.

I saved this one for last because it IS technically an anime, despite being more of a...mini-series. And to truly understand what is going on...you need to play the game.

Obey Me! Shall we Date?

The main premise of the...franchise is that this is an isekai where you are thrusted into the pits of Hell to attend Hell School and live with the Seven Princes of Hell. By the way, the main character (MC aka you) are a sheep.

Did I mention this is an otome gacha game? So go ahead and pick your poison.

BnHA Chapter 320: Deku vs. Class 1-A

Previously on BnHA: Flashback!Kacchan was all “fuck Deku and fuck his stupid goodbye letters, I need to speak to somebody in charge.” Endeavor was all “hello, I am Somebody In Charge.” Kacchan was all “listen up asshole, you need to let us go out and collect our wayward nerd because you stupidly left him alone with All Might and that’s a fast track to disaster right there.” Endeavor was all, “[self-incriminating silence].” Rat Principal was all, “okay sure, have fun kids.” Back in the present, class 1-A was all “hi Deku” and Deku was all “I’M FINE!!!!!” and Kacchan was all “THAT’S WHAT I THOUGHT YOU’D SAY YOU DUMB FUCKING NERD” and so the kids all got ready to fight, because OF COURSE they’re gonna fight. Sorry guys, but yeah it’s happening.

Today on BnHA: Kacchan is all “what’s up Deku you look like a possessed Rorschach test, so anyway how are the new quirks coming along.” Deku is all “they’re coming along like THIS” and uses Smokescreen to try and get away. Kacchan is all “PHASE ONE COMMENCE”, and Kouda, Sero, Jirou, and Ojiro leap into the fray to shower Deku with heaps of love and violence, because this is a shounen manga and kicking someone’s ass while simultaneously proclaiming your undying admiration for them is just how it’s done in these parts. The KoudaSeroOJirou squad then passes the baton to Satou, Momo, Tokoyami, Kaminari, and Shouji, who are all “fuck this mask” and do a bunch of stuff to tear Deku’s mask off because they’re the real heroes. Shouto is all “LOOK AT THE LITTLE CRYBABY, THAT’S RIGHT, GO AHEAD AND FUCKING CRY and by the way let us share your burden please,” and once again I swear this is all very deeply moving and touching within the actual context. The chapter ends with Tsuyu being all “look at me. I’m the cliffhanger now,” and damn.

𝑺𝒖𝒎𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒚 | Your plan with Geto finally unfolds, and Geto thinks with the information he has gathered, that it’s a perfect time for you to confess to Gojo. Shoko answers your suspicions about her and Gojo before Geto crashes the scene, telling you last second that he had set you up with Gojo for a confession, you had almost no time to prepare. Before you could even hold a proper scolding, Gojo arrives, it’s time to confess.    “Okay, here’s the plan.”     Geto slapped his hand onto the table, handing you a fizzy drink. You watched the bubbles rapidly float upwards. Inside, there’s various fruits, strawberries, kiwis, some lemons for added fanciness.     “(Y/N), the drink is not what we’re focusing on.” he snaps his fingers, you glance up, he’s shaking his head and smiling.     “Sorry, uh, I’m not good with serious conversations.” you twiddle with your thumbs, studying the table. Your fingers itch for your something to fidget with, the whole reason why you two met up was awkward anyways.     You had conspired with Geto to make Gojo jealous. Having already tried being subtle, you had eyed him across the room, flirted with him, and he still hadn’t realized. You had bought him free stuff whenever you went to the store, and once again, he never really realized. Geto did, though. He always raised his eyebrows when you handed Gojo a bag of kikufuku from his favorite shop, or if you got him a stupid cheap trinket from the night markets.     The point being, you were much more affection with Gojo then anyone else.    Even when you tried to conceal this jealousy, the cracking point was when you had found out that Gojo had gone out with Geto the night before and had sex with a few random girls.    You had chewed Geto and Gojo both out, while Gojo was yawning and tousling his hair, boredom evident in his face, Geto examined every single little thing about your body language. How your face seemed to drop a little more when you talked about Gojo, and how you seemed so self conscious when you talked about the girls that he had had fun with.     He had approached you, with no time for small talk. His arms crossed, he blew a strand of hair away from his face, looking at you. He had oh so casually asked you if you had a thing for Satoru, and here you were now. Just short of having a heart attack from sheer panic.     “Hey. Don’t be scared.” placing one of his hands on your shoulder, he smiles. “I know Gojo, did I ever tell you how we compared dick sizes once? Wild, I’ve also had a few foursomes-”     You retch, and Geto snickers.     “Moving on, that guy gets jealous EASILY. He’s also as dumb as a rock, probably can’t define the word love.” he looks down, the easygoing expression on his face wiped off, replaced with a rather saddened one, “but I guess he hasn’t experienced the feeling a lot.”     He looks back up at you, brushing his bangs behind his ear. “This brings me to Operation: Make Gojo Jealous Because That’s The Only Way I Know How To Get Him To Realize If He Likes You or Not!”     He leans over the table, looking left and right before leaning into your ear. “What do we say if Gojo doesn’t like you back?”     Your stomach twists as the words, “Gojo doesn’t like you back.” echoed in your mind, you sigh.     “That’s okay Gojo, and whatever your opinion is, I will respect.”     “Perfect, if you have any objections, tell me now.”     A deafening silence settles between you two, he chuckles again.     “Also, Shoko’s smart as shit. She can probably catch on, or maybe she already knows that you have a crush on him. Maybe she’ll play into this, fair warning. Alright, ready? Listen close.”     He stops leaning over the table, sitting back down normally.     “We start spending a lot more time with each other, as in, we spend more than half of our day with one another.” you open your mouth to complain, as Geto would be sure to annoy you knowing that you had to spend half the fucking day with you, but he shushes you up with his finger.    “I’m a good stalker, so I’ll be watching Gojo. If he doesn’t have a crush on you, he’ll be just fine. Albeit, just a bit lonelier, because his best bud is ditching him for you, maybe talk to Shoko or some shit. If he DOES in fact have a crush on you, he’ll watch our every move. He doesn’t hide his anger very well, so I’ll be able to tell.”     “You’re a good WHAT?”     “Shut up, and I have everything planned out. We’ll probably have a celebration at this park after we get back from wiping out all the curses from this village, and by then I’ll have enough information to see if that’s a good day to confess to him. Understand?”     You nod, shocked that he had literally planned this all out. He gets up, nodding at you and waving, giving you a playful wink before leaving the room.  —        Here you were now, sitting on the picnic blanket. Shoko digs her hand into her pocket, pulling out a few cigarettes.     You eye them as she whips out a lighter, delicately placing the cigarette into her mouth and lighting it. Taking in a deep breath, you watch her exhale, a hazy cloud of gray swirled around into the air.    You never took Shoko as a person to smoke, but your gut wrenches. Does Gojo like smokers? He seemed interested in Shoko, and maybe Shoko was trying to confess with him before you and Geto had crashed the party.     Nervously shoving the marble in your ramune down, you stutter, Shoko glanced up. Her lukewarm eyes stared into yours.     “Have a question, honey?” her cigarette between her pointer and index, she coughs before placing it back into her mouth.     “Uh, yeah. A-actually.”    ��A pleasantly surprised face covered her calm expression, looking at you with curiosity, she nods, telling you to continue.     “...Do you have a crush on Gojo?”     She looks at you, bewildered, before pulling the cigarette out of her mouth. Chortling turning into coughing, she spits into the grass.     “Oh NO honey, I can’t even picture dating a guy, actually, especially not that monkey. What made you think that?”    Waves of relief rushed over your body, and you realize how stiffly you were sitting up. Relaxing your shoulders, you take a swig out of your ramune.     “Uh, I-I don’t know. I saw you two u-uh... Really close...”     Shoko smiles, her eyes crinkle at the side as she did. Scoffing a little, she places the cigarette back between her lips, taking a deep inhale before exhaling.     “We were talking about shit, no bother, oh hey, Geto’s back.”     You stare at where she’s pointing, Geto’s hands were shoved deep into his pockets. He had a toothy grin on his face, and strands of hair strayed from his bun as the wind whipped against him.     “(Y/N)! I have news~!” he screams, approaching the picnic with long strides.     Your heart jumps out of your chest, did he talk for you instead, and got Gojo to confess?     “I set you and Gojo up!” he sang, sitting down with a heavy thud and digging his hand into the picnic basket, sticking his tongue out as he searched for snacks. He looks at you sadistically, thoroughly enjoying the shocked expression on your face.     “WHAT?”     Shoko snickers a little, before changing it into a cough as you glare at her.     “Yep, he’s coming back now, so you better prepare!” yanking out a snack, he peers down. “Fuck yeah! Dried squid!”     “ARE YOU GOING TO FUCKING IGNORE HOW YOU JUST SET UP MY CONFESSION WITH GOJO SO CASUALLY?”     He looks up at you, sharing a look with Shoko before both burst into laughter.     “(Y/N) being angry is a fucking knee slapper, isn’t it Shoko?”     ‘Who the fuck uses the phrase knee slapper, Geto?”    Ignoring Shoko’s sarcastic comment, Geto stared up at your figure. “Anyways, go for it sweetheart.” Geto calmly responds, Shoko still laughing.     You splutter, cursing Geto under your breath and everyone under his family tree for raising such a child.     “Aw hey now (Y/N), no cursing me! I know you’re doing it, and hey look, here he comes! Shoo lovebirds!” he waves his hand. Shoko, in an attempt to calm down, pulled her knee into her chest and giggled into her arms.    You match your line of sight with his, Gojo’s lanky build was quickly approaching. Instead of his usually scowling face, he seemed more relaxed.     “Yo.” he scratched the back of his neck as he walked up to the group, studying the grass. “Sorry for blowing up.”     Geto stood up, patting Gojo’s back. “There there, truthfully no one gives a fuck! Actually, I don’t know if you remember but (Y/N) over here requested your audience, bye bye now!” shoving Gojo in your direction, he stumbled a little, before scrambling and placing his hands on your shoulder.     ‘Sorry.” he murmured, a light blush crept up to his cheeks. “had to try to grab onto something or else I fall flat on my face.”     You found your cheeks also getting warm, you touched your skin, thankful that he was looking in another direction.     “Yeah. No problem.”     “Fuck off, you two! Flirt somewhere else!” hollered Geto.    “OKAY, HOLY SHIT!” hollered Gojo back, rolling his eyes before he looked down at you.     “Geto told me you wanted to talk to me about something.”     Your breath hitched, and you nodded nervously, he cleared his throat, arm snaking around your waist.     Shocked by the sudden realization that he had his arm wrapped around your fucking waist, your heart was now pounding out of your chest, eyes wide.     “The plot thickens.” Shoko lazily laid her head down on Geto’s shoulder, he grinned.     “That’s my fucking child right there.”  —    Gojo walked with you on a long, narrow path. Trees as a sort of canopy hung over your head, rustling with the wind. No people in sight.     He cleared his throat again, looking down at you.     “Uh, here looks really nice. Pretty peaceful, and there’s seating.” he gestured to a bench with his unoccupied hand.    You nod as he pulled you a bit closer into him, before letting go.     A whine almost leapt out of your throat before he slammed your hands over your mouth, for all you knew he wasn’t going to ask you out, and rather ask you directions to the nearest bathroom or some shit.     “Hey, sit down.”     Snapping out of your daze, you nodded, sitting down and staring at the opposite direction of wherever he faced.     You wished you had the courage to stare at his face, to look at his sunglasses while he ruffled his snow white locks. His defined collarbones, and his chiseled jawline and...     “So! What did you wanna talk about, (Y/N)?” you whipped your head to stare at him, jumping a little as you did so.     “Um.” FUCK, what were you supposed to say?     “...Lovely weather we’re having?”     Gojo scoffed, leaning towards you. He really did know how to work a person. Breathing heavier then you were when he pulled you closer to him, you looked at him, anticipating whatever he would say.     “I know that’s... Not what you were asking to talk to me for. Let me guess, you have a crush on Geto and you want to ask me how to get him to like you?”     ‘What! No!” you responded exasperatedly, hiding your face with your hands.     “I... Don’t have a thing for Geto!”     “What was that?” Gojo paused, before pulling at your sleeve. “Hey, I couldn’t hear you.” joking teasingly, he fixed his askew sunglasses.    “I DON’T HAVE A THING FOR GETO!”     He jumped back, rubbing his temples and sighing before chuckling.     “You didn’t have to be that fucking loud! Holy shit that hurt my ears.” rubbing them, he looked at you with a laugh.     You noted that his friendly behavior was back in business, as opposed to the serious one he had adopted as soon as you started hanging out with Geto.     Suddenly, the atmosphere changed as his laughter died out, both of you silent.     “Then... Who do you have a thing for?” Gojo whispered breathily, crossing his legs.     You opened your mouth, about to respond with every bit of power that you had left inside of your already frazzled body that he was the one that you had a thing for, and the one you had a thing for for multiple fucking months. You closed it before you could, taking a deep breath in.     “Hey.” leaning closer into your face, you swore you could count every hair strand that he had. He breathed heavily as well, and his chest heaved, he placed a hand onto your shoulder.     “It’s okay, you can tell me.”     You shook your head, looking away once again.     He cursed to himself, was he too straight forward? Or were you that stupid, did he have to confess himself?     No, he didn’t want to damage his pride. He wanted you to confess, to tell him how much you loved him, and the things you wanted to do together.     But what if you were going to tell him that you had a thing for Shoko or some shit?     “Come on, (Y/N), I won’t judge you.”     ‘No!” you shook your head furiously again, “you’re going to judge me!”     “I wont, come on, spill!”     You bit your lip, twisting yourself to look at him, tears dawning on your eyes. Diving headfirst into his chest, you whined. Fuck it all.    “I like you, Gojo.”     “...What?” he wrapped his arms around your head, looking down at you sniffling on his t-shirt.     “I like you, I like you, I like you DAMN IT!” you whined, banging your fists against his chest weakly.     “Woah, hey there little baby.” he pushed your head gently off of him, kissing your red, sweating forehead gently.     “I like you too, (Y/N).

Splatoon Manga One-shot: Depressed Reader x Aloha

Note: This has graphic content that may not be suited for younger viewers. So, don't read it unless you are above the age of 18. Thank you. Also, this was written about a year ago so it’s going to be a bit cringy. I’m terribly sorry.

(F/C) tears dripped into the sink and mixed with the running water. You whimpered in pain as you stared into your dark reflection. Dark, heavy bags hung underneath your eyes and your face was paler than a sheet of paper. It's been three months since you started cutting yourself, but it didn't seem to be helping. The pain in your chest still existed and your mental health was still grim. Your sleepless nights seemed to increase as well, which gave you massive headaches in the morning and afternoon.

"I hate me..." You said, the number of your tears increasing.

You wanted to reverse time and make sure you had never been born. The bullying, the harassment, it's too much for one squid to handle. It's too much for you to handle. The only thing that seemed to keep you going was him. Wait, didn't you need to go to his house later today? Just then, a vibration came from your squid phone. It played one of the famous Squid Sisters singles, Tide Goes Out. With a shaky hand, you grabbed your phone and answered.

"Hello...?" You tried answering in your best "normal" voice.

"(Y/N), you're alive!" A bright voice answered back, "It's already past six, when are you coming over?"

A sigh of relief came through your mouth when you heard Aloha's voice. His voice was the only thing keeping you from ending it all. Despite how annoying he is, you can't help but love him with all your heart. Tonight was his birthday and you promised him that you'd be there. By this time, a lot of guests have probably already arrived.

"Ah, sorry, I lost track of time." You apologized.

"It's fine, don't worry about it. Just get your butt over here already!"

"Okay okay, I'm coming..."

After that, you hanged up the phone and started wrapping up your cuts. After that, you went to find some clothes for the party. You grabbed an Annaki Drive Tee, black leggings, and a pair of your favorite (shoes). After dressing up, you made haste out of your apartment to Aloha's house.

You knocked on the front door to the blooming house, lights and loud music bursting out from every window. You didn't like loud parties, mainly because you knew there'd at least one person judging you, but since it's Aloha's party, you didn't mind too much. The door opened, giving you a little bit of whiplash, and there he was. The famous party thrasher and freshest squid on the block, Aloha. His smile grew even wider when he laid eyes on you.

"Finally, why make me wait like that?" Aloha joked, slightly jabbing at your shoulder.

You blushed and rubbed the back of your neck, "Sorry, I was caught up in something."

"Ah, I don't care either way. Now, let's party~!"

Aloha lead you inside of the house and slammed the door shut. He was practically dragging you to the other side of the house like a little kid. I guess some things never change, you chuckled. Aloha is just like he was all those years ago, a carefree soul. At times, you did envy him for being able to fit in so well. Meanwhile, you were looked down upon as an outcast, a squid that will never be able to fit in with the crowd.

"Ew, why is that ugly girl with Aloha?" You overheard a jealous female scoff.

"I know, right?" Her friend agreed, "She's wearing a long sleeve shirt. Like, we're at a party idiot, wear something worthwhile."

"Hippies like her always ruin the mood."

Your eyes widened as those words struck you like a bullet to the heart. Those girls are right, you weren't dressed properly for this situation. Aloha probably thought the same when he saw you at the door. Tears threatened to fall down your face as your previous happy thoughts disappeared. You stopped walking and yanked your hand away from Aloha's, which made him stop also. He looked at you with a confused expression.

"Everything all right?" He asked.

"Y-Yeah, um..." You looked away, "Where's your bathroom?"

"Upstairs. It's the second door on the right."

"Thanks."

Without saying another word, you rushed upstairs and into the bathroom. You needed to cut yourself again, it's the only way to get your sanity back. The air became thick and you frantically searched for something sharp. There was no razor or anything like that, but you did find a shaver. You didn't care who it belonged to, you just wanted the blade to make contact with your flesh.

"Ow...!" You winced in pain.

The tears released as you continued to cut on your arm. You hate all of it. Your life, your family, even your friends back in Calamari Country. You hated all of it. They're the reason why you have to suffer, it's all their fault!

"I hate you, I hate you...!" You whimpered as you continued to savagely cut your skin.

The (F/C) blood dripped into the sink, coating it in that very color. You were so caught up in your cutting that you failed to notice the open bathroom door.

"(Y/N), what the hell?!" A familiar voice shouted.

Your eyes widened in fear. Oh crap! You started to panic as you stared at the one person you hoped wouldn't find you like this. Aloha ripped the shaver out of your hand, causing it to drop onto the ground.

"Shit, it's really bad," Aloha cringed, "I want you to stay here, don't go anywhere. Okay?"

You nodded and watched him run out of the bathroom, taking the shaver with him. The feeling of light-headedness slowly caught up to you, making your surroundings blur. Was the room spinning?

"A-Aloha...?" You called out, falling into a daze.

A blurry figure entered the room, carrying something in his hands. The last thing you saw was the figure gently laying you down and wrapping your blood-soaked arm.

The next day, you woke up in an unfamiliar room. This caused you to panic, thinking that something weird happened last night. Throwing the seats off, you checked to see if anything hurt or felt different. Nothing of the lower region hurt, but your arm sure did. Even the slightest bit of movement caused you to groan in pain. You were also out of your Annaki Drive Tee and put in a black tank top instead. It was a size much too big for you, but it was comfortable.

"What happened to me?" You asked, not talking to anyone in particular.

"(Y/N)..."

You looked up to see Aloha, standing right beside you. He wore a grim expression, filled with worry and sorrow. It was very rare that Aloha shared this side of him, but when he did, it was kind of scary. Did I do something wrong? You wondered.

"Why didn't you tell me about the cutting?" Aloha asked.

The question made your eyes widen, how did he know about that? Suddenly, the memories from last night came flooding back. Those two girls, you going to the bathroom, you cut yourself, then Aloha came and...

"I'm sorry..." You apologized.

Aloha's face lit up for a minute, a small smile coming into view. He brushes aside your (F/C) tentacle and plants a kiss on your temple. You couldn't help but blush a dark hue. Aloha intertwines his hand with yours and looks deeply into your eyes. Those pink eyes showed nothing but love, love that was undoubtedly for you.

"Don't worry about it," Aloha said, "From now on, I'll protect you from any bullies. So, don't be afraid to depend on me, got it?"

"But-

He cuts you off before you can get a word out.

"Ah, ah~ You gotta say yes."

"I... okay..."

"Good girl~"

Aloha hugs you, nuzzling into your tentacles. You wrapped your arms around him, pulling him even closer to your body. For the first time, in what seems like forever, you smiled. It wasn't forged or forced, it was a genuine smile of happiness.

"Thank you, Aloha..." You whispered.

"Anything to help my darling little princess~"

You rolled your eyes and pushed him off you.

"We're not kids anymore, you know."

"I know you are, but what am I?"

You groaned, annoyed at his childish behavior. I guess things never change, do they?

i believe squid game comes from the jap movie "as the gods will" 👀

Okay, so... Since we’re at the topic of this, I’d love to discuss what I think of its similarities and the survival genre in general!  

I actually have heard of that allegation before. I haven’t watched As The Gods Will movie yet to compare, but I heard this came about because netizens realised that the first game “Red Light, Green Light” was similar to the first game in As The Gods Will. 

I wanted to watch As The Gods Will first before answering this, but I’m too excited to share my thoughts and didn’t want to make you think I was ignoring this ask. Also because I don’t feel I have the proper headspace to watch another brutal movie/show. I’m currently looking for a good comedy movie/series to make me laugh.  This one appeared in even my country’s local news and the director of Squid Game denied the allegations that he plagiarised the Japanese movie. 

From the news:

He said, “I started planning [Squid Game] in 2008 and began writing the script in 2009 (…) the similarities that were pointed out are purely coincidental and there is no copying from either party. I don’t want to [claim ownership] of the story but if have to say it, I’ll say that I did it [before As The Gods Will].”

Apparently only the first game was similar (but I haven’t watched the movie so I cannot confirm it with my eyes). However, there were some netizens who weren’t happy with his response and don’t believe him. 

I do think that the show features a childhood game, and the Red Light Green Light game is a childhood game in Korea (and Japan too). I went to watch Coffee Prince (2007) shortly after, and there was a short scene where they walked past a group of children and they were playing it. The phrase "Mugunghwa kkochi pieotseumnida" (무궁화꽃이 피었습니다, lit. "The Rose of Sharon has bloomed"). The rose of Sharon (aka Korean rose) is the national flower of South Korea. 

Based on wiki, it says that the Japanese variation is: "Daruma-san ga koronda" (達磨さんが転んだ, lit. "The Daruma Fell Over"). So I guess it is also a childhood game played in Japan. 

Honestly I’ve never played this game before, although a lot of countries do. 

I’ve also watched the Behind the Scenes for the show, and their reasoning for the Red Light Green Light as the first game was that a lot of contestants can be eliminated in this game. 

I’m not sure if there’s going to be some legal troubles, because there have been already controversies around this show (such as the fact that the number on the calling card was real and owner received > 4K calls). 

Overall, I do hope that the similarities is just a coincidence and that because in similar genres tend to attract similar ideas. Otherwise it will kind of leave a foul taste in my mouth ahha. It will be a waste because this show was the first survival genre I really liked simply because they had the free will to choose not to play instead of usually being forced to play.The third clause was pretty interesting because they can all choose to go home if majority votes, but they are not willing to quit.  Which actually goes to show how life was really hell for them to continue playing. 

It reminds me of this other Korean movie called Parasite (2019), which also highlighted the socio-economic status disparity between groups. I liked that movie as well, although I kind of disliked most of the movie analyses of it (I disagree with the whole “Eat the Rich” perspective of analyses, I think that is not what the movie is about), but I digress. 

Do let me know if any of you watched As The Gods Will, and if you liked it or not. There is also this movie from a manga called “Battle Royale”, which was an earlier series of this genre. I haven’t read it yet but apparently it’s highly recommend it.  

I had also read Alice in Borderland manga (up until the season they covered), but because I don’t find any of the characters interesting and there’s no built up of relationships, I didn’t particularly enjoy it. Although I must say that the games are more complicated and brainiac. 

I had also read The Hunger Games trilogy many years ago as a teen, I did love the survival game aspect of it, however I didn’t really like how the political revolution was presented in the 3rd book. I remember that following that book, there was a whole trend of dystopian future young adult genre (which I think now the following books like Divergent and Maze Runner were forgettable).
