Hey, you know what's interesting? I've been following solarpunk blogs for years. And I never saw any solarpunk blog display any kind of apologism for violence until this past month. In the span of a few weeks, the entire eco community has completely changed its tone about violent strategies. Apparently, since everyone is hyped about violence this month, violence is on the table now.

The US government legally classifies pipeline disrupters as domestic terrorists. Now, with our newfound violent rhetoric, we can give the FBI even better reasons to call us domestic terrorists. Everyone has spent a month calling terrorism "decolonization." So now the media will have a field day portraying eco activists as terrorists any time we mention decolonization. This will make attempting to communicate with the public much more complicated and challenging. But oh well. What's done is done. Tiktok decided to associate terrorism with the decolonization movement and now we all have to live with the consequences.

Do you think the eco movement's new political attitude towards violence will help our cause or hurt it? I'm genuinely curious. By the way, oil companies are deeply integrated with the military industrial complex which requires fossil fuel for missiles. So I'll ask again. Do you think violence is a good strategy for resisting the fossil fuel empire? Should we be studying, glorifying, and emulating violent movements? Is that a form of battle that we could ever possibly win? Or is that just a way for us all to martyr ourselves?

Also, how do these violent resistance movements even get off the ground? Do they just conjure their weapons out of thin air? Or are those weapons smuggled across borders by Iran's proxy militias? Do you think Iran or some other country with proxy ambitions would smuggle weapons to eco defenders? I don't know if they would. I'm just curious how murderous violent resistance could ever possibly overlap with solarpunk.

^^^ This is the post this is referring to for context. Now let's get down to dissecting this below the cut bc YIKES this is a lot to discuss but here why dont join me for a spot of tea yeah?

Before I start to tackle this with as good faith as I can let's get some facts in order:

A) I'm from Canada, a country known by its citizens for not respecting protesters/activists. Hell, the first Premiere of Manatoba, Louis Riel was a classified Traitor and was hanged for fighting against the government for the rights of his people and we treat him as the hero he is now. In the mid 2000s a "rebellion" was lead to protect a reservation from the mounties and they stole a tank! While the news and gov ripped them apart give it 10 years and ppl cheer at the idea now. The fairy creek protests and the pipeline protests are more recent examples. They arrested and brutalized people doing nothing more then having breakfast on their own land while blocking construction. So like.... I don't have the illusion of a "peaceful" protest. Here (particularly my province) you go to a protest you simply dont expect to come home. We are functionally a monarchy, we don't have "freedom of speech" and the government was never instilled for our "freedom" or our benefit it was solely to divide up the land and to conquer.

B) this is super not new to Eco movements in particular. They've have "Eco terrorists" on record as early as the 1900s ranging from Treespiking during early logging, to throwing paint on fur wearers in the 1970s. Wiebo Arienes Ludwig is from my Province, arrested for sabotaging Oil wells and went to trial in 2000. This is definitely not a new concept to eco movements and as Solarpunk enters a more Praxis heavy punk scene instead of pure sci-fi this is likely going to be a branch of it there's no avoiding that.

"Choose peace rather than confrontation. Except in cases where we cannot get, where we cannot proceed, where we cannot move forward. Then, if the only alternative is violence, we will use violence."

This additiude comes from a reasonable place in fact here a quote from Nelson Mandela in Gaza, 1999 sums it up pretty well:

Particularly since typically they will blame a peaceful protest just as much as a "violent" one. I think "violence " is something that will happen no matter what we do. If we're as peaceful as possible, they'll still call us violent mobs just to have an excuse to crack some skulls. Even if they're just having breakfast, on their own land, they will arrest and beat them. It won't matter at a certain point bc they want to prove they can be in control.

Now don't get me wrong, I would honestly prefer to slowly adapt. To build as we take down, to show ppl the joy of this and they'll come on their own. But that only works if the goverment and the citizens are equal partners. And idk bout the states since im not from there, but here? It wouldn't matter how many citizens asked for us to go Green overnight the government would ignore that cry for the corpate money.

"People should not be scared of their governments, governments should be scared of their people" and sure this is because we out number them but they should be working for us because that's the point of a goverment in the first place.

Next is: Do I think this is a useful way to spend energy?

Yes! I do, giving something for people to do with their hands, with groups, makes ppl realize how powerful they are and how weak the system oppressing them is. Empowering ppl to do what they can where they can is always good! What ppl do with knowledge is up to them, and if they feel it's needed then generally needed.

Now to the point of weapons: no one has said anything about weapons that something like the oil companies or military would back?? All the weapons endorced by these movements are typically things like using spikes and putting them into trees, or like in France- the energy union cutting off power to the CEOs house (while giving free electricity to hospitals and poor communitis) until they reconsidered the penson plans. Or when they put BBQs on tram lines during a protest. These are weapons, but they are of the ppls trade, they are tools ppl already have not as you said "[weapons] smuggled in to eco defenders" no one is suggesting Guns? That simply won't solve things.

Organizing, communicating, and strategic planning is our best weapons.

I think that covers it, but I'm also doing this on mobile while sick so I might not have covered it all. Although i think my point is made! The final thing I'll say is, if you don't agree with these parts of the movement you don't have to participate or even look at them. Forge your own path! Others I'm sure will follow! My way will never be the only way and we are in charge of our own experiences online. Hii, I'm back. First off, I'm sorry about the request I send yesterday, I think? I didn't see the 'angst' under the 'don't do' 😭 🙇‍♀️but I'm back with a rant (I should pay you rent for staying in your asks this much- I can pay it with kaldo drawings 😭)

I recently checked the sons' ages and well- Doom, Fanim, Epidem and Delisaster were born with only 1 year of difference (also, the whole family was born of 11th of something- Innocent zero was a weird guy. He even shares birthday with Mash lol) and knowing that a pregnancy lasts 9 months there would be 4 months of non-pregnancy state with each of the 4 first sons (I calculated it- I needed to know if it was actually possible to pop out 4 kids in 4 years like that). Yes, they literally were born Doom-January, Fanim-February, Epidem-March and Delisaster-April (Domina was born in May, but Mash wanted to be different and was born in November 😭). There is a problem, Mash and Domina were born the same year, less than 9 months in between their birthdays. To which I can only find the excuses that, again, Mash wanted to be different and decided that he would be born premature lol (or they just speed up his birth, if mother was getting ill or her health was going down). Also, I checked how much each kid weights and I'm pretty sure Innocent zero starved them- BECAUSE WHAT DO YOU MEAN DOOM (who's 2 meters tall) WEIGHT ONLY 88KG??? THAT MF IS HUGE😭 My older brother (who's 25, 5 years younger than Doom, apparently) is like 1,80m and he weights 110kg😭 Domina (who's 1,76,i think) weights 68kg (that's around my weight, I'm 1,65± and 15 y/o). So, knowing that information I want to add that after mother fell into a coma, Innocent zero had more power over the sons so he starved them (bc before it was impossible. If they told mother that they wanted to eat, or even if they didn't, she gave them food and made sure they ate at least 3 times a day. Since she suffered a lot from starvation herself and almost every family member (all of her three brothers and her mom) died due to starvation), and it would also explain why tf Delisaster has such a thin waist.

It's also possible that, instead of her bearing the children in her womb, they just decided to mix their DNAs in an incubator of some sort. Innocent zero would say something that it wasn't necessary for her to bear them and that it wouldn't benefit neither of them, since he doesn't want for a strong ally to be unable to work for over 9 months and he read that it pregnancy can affect her health (again, that means that his ally will be weaker than before (imagine his reaction when she randomly falls into a coma after mash's 'birth'- and doesn't wake up for a long time). And mother would also prefer it by just mixing the DNAs (✨trauma✨, and probably not liking physical touch?). I'm also sure that after some time, Innocent zero would put some spell on mother just to keep her in the coma (let's say her necklaces worked only around itself and since it didn't cause any actual damage they weren't activated) so that he can manipulate the sons more. I also imagine them visiting her, maybe on their own birthdays or her birthday or just randomly showing up to check on her idk.

I also imagine that when Innocent zero is defeated by Mash and mother wakes up and gets context of everything that happened during her 'absence' (she really didn't care if the realm was destroyed since they didn't care about neither her or those similar to her), she would be mad with both Wahlberg and the divine visionaries (even though she didn't like the realm, she had some respect for Wahlberg when they were young bc he had good ambitions and she expected for him to at least try to make them reality) bc "what do you mean after 100 years the law against lackmagic is the fucking same and nothing changed? And then you dump it all onto a 15 y/o boy? Wtf" She would 100% slap Wahlberg in his face (and it's a good one, after all the sons didn't get the physical abilities from their father lol) and say that if they don't change things soon, she won't hesitate to start a revolution. I also don't know how would Mash react to his biological mother appearing out of nowhere. They would probably have a talk, at least and she would say that she won't interfere in his life unless he wants to and that he should contact Domina if he wants to talk with her or needs something from her, since she doesn't have a phone bc she was in a coma.

Also, after Innocent zero is defeated, I'm sure that the castle doesn't fall down, so as she wakes up she goes through it and sees all of her sons (or their remains) dead (Except Doom, since he did live after the battle with Mash) and she doesn't know the cause of it yet, but when she sees the 'arrows' that attacked Domina she would get the puzzle together that Innocent zero have killed at least one of her sons (she couldn't care less about the realm, but won't hesitate to hurt someone tenfold if they hurt her sons in the slightest), he would have had hurried to hunt that mf down, but tending to Doom's injuries is more of a priority at that time.

Actually just today, my friend and I was talking about Daniel after the race. He’s been watching F1 for way longer then me. I expressed my concern over the last two weeks even though this is only the beginning of the szn. He said and I summerised, currently DR can only be in midfield teams is cus while he dose have the skills, he’s too unserious for like SF or MER, but his unseriousness brings great publicity for midfield teams.

I think in some aspects this may be true. But It’s just, like, idk, thought of this hits me. I know this jester aura (?) often surrounded him and people saying it’s great for marketing and stuff, but isn’t that a bit unfair tho? Maybe DR is always DR, way before F1 he is DR, and now all of a sudden his a publicity stun.

You know when you look at someone and look at what they do, you just go like, yeah for sure that’s what they do? I look at Daniel and I have this feeling. He’s a racer, always have been and always will, maybe he’ll go to Indy or some other competitions if this doesn’t work out, but in heart he’s a racer, he belongs to the track and the speed.

That’s just how I feel, and don’t really know who I can say this to, so thank you for letting me vent.

this is so sweet (the way you worry for daniel's prospects) and '(feel sad for millionaires)' got me irl lol 😭 your friend sounds like he's watched f1 for a long time but i would disagree with his conclusion. i provide that:

allegedly ferrari decided to not go for daniel after seeing him dance with daniil kvyat in the pit lane to entertain fans during rain delay at usgp 2015. the situation first of all was fortunately and unfortunately more nuanced than daniel being "unserious". the ferrari at the time was also run by arrivabene during bernie ecclestone's f1 reign. the ferrari today, two team principles later and after liberty media's f1 takeover, has changed in many ways. for example, in 2022 they had charles and carlos do this tiktok trend which definitely, definitely flirted with "the boundaries" (whatever that means) way more. so no, even tho daniel doesn't drive for ferrari, i wouldn't say he is "too unserious" for them.

merc is considered a more "corporate" environment in f1, example is valtteri's change in public image after leaving mercedes. however given that at the end of 2022 toto went as far as literally wearing daniel's merch in an attempt to reserve him for mercedes, i'd say obviously they don't consider daniel "too unserious" either.

publicity in f1 just generally cannot be a bad thing. more people interested in watching a driver means more sponsors willing to pay $$$$ to put their names and logos onto their livery. and more $$$$ means better chances at making a faster car, which is a goal of every team's. one can argue that a successful and financially secure team like red bull or ferrari might not be attracted to the benefit of a driver's popularity as much. but again, sports rely on viewership to sell broadcasting rights and ad spots, and publicity just generally can't be a bad thing.

i know the first two races were not great but this season literally just started. nothing is real yet. and daniel at least ended this week on a positive note so even more reasons to look ahead. the thing about f1 is that there is one winner and nineteen others. so as long as you're watching you're basically guaranteed more bad days than good ones. we can't all be watching bc we all believe our blorbos will be wdc, right? we watch and hope that something good might just happen. like if you think about it even though daniel has been out here causing us stress all these years he still manages to pull off minor to major miracles every year or two. this hopefulness is very precious so i say we watch it for that.

Soooo this has been in the works for a while. Some fun and self indulgent and silly au that I actually got way too attached to!!! To the point I've actually got a whole outline of a story for it! Going to put it in under the cut :^]

For context: I haven't really decided if this is a completely parallel universe where kris and susie and everyone else has any input on the world. Or if its simply just a year or two early to main storyline stuff. Idk, still thinking, I'll figure it out eventually.

Story time now though! Just as they are in their actual canon story, arrfs is from space! An alien trying to integrate into the Lightner world. Despite pups best efforts over the years, she still manages to wind up without a friend. I'm still heavily workingshopping what exactly their Lightner life was like or how exactly they stumbled into the dark world, all I know is pup gets there somehow!

Once arrfs DOES reach the dark world, pup is absolute terrified. Not only is there no one to tell them what's going on or where they are, but there's also no one to face the unknown with her. Unsure what to make of the change of clothes and new surroundings, pup treks on until- just as she does in the actual deltarune canon- queen pops up out of nowhere to capture her!!! Arrfs instinctually turns into a little tiny worm as a way to hide and defend pupself and queen just accepts it, going "Oh shit lol they disappeared woah. Okay bye."

Skipping ahead a bit bc otherwise we'll be here all day (and also bc I mainly have the meat of this story planned out rather than anything prior)! Arrfs stumbles around cyber city lost and confused after a close run-in with some ambyu-lances. That is, until they find themself in an alleyway. And who else do they find there other than spamton g. spamton himself!!! Instantly picking up on the fact that pup is a Lightner, spamton attempts to lure her into buying one of his wares so that pup may learn to trust him. Which quickly goes south when he realizes that arrfs doesn't have a single cent to their name. He frowns, instead offering her a place to relax. A place to stop running from every Darkner that attempts to approach them. This lands arrfs in spamtons shop, of course! While it seems like a friendly offer, in reality it's mainly offered so that spam has more time to think up a deal. One that would really hook arrfs and ultimately benefit spamton himself.

But then it hits him. This Lighter is lost and confused with nowhere to go and no one to turn to. If he were to hire them with promise of a roof over their head and a place to stay (however low quality and surrounded by garbage it may be), they would not only be a much friendlier face to lure his customers in, but would also come to trust him. THAT'S how you hook a customer and make them into a returning one. That's his ticket into getting into the basement. And to his surprise... arrfs jumps on the idea! Pup's very desperate to get a controlled grip on this world, and most of all, really just to find a friend after all these years. Blissfully unaware of the real nature behind the deal, she seals it.

I'm still working on the exact details of how the rest of it plays out, all I know is that the two actually do wind up becoming genuine friends! Spamton initially was in it for himself, sure, but instead he finds himself so comfortable with the first genuine friendship he's had in years. He fufills his goal of enabling arrfs to be completely trusting of him, but he never figured he would be so trusting of them as well. Not to mention that with all of arrfs help, they've pulled together a bit more of a stable income. She's even encouraged him to create his own art that sells for a much higher price than his normal wares. He almost wants to delay getting his hands on want he wants down in the basement out of fear he may lose all the good he's found. Almost.

And that's what I've got so far! I think it's fun!

Extra design notes!!!

I know I stylized black and gray as blue on spamton btw but that was just the fit the blue theme on the rest of this. Arrfs' cloak is actually just that color blue!

Arrfs is surrounded by butterfly themes in the dark world! I figured that since their themes are mainly focused on grubs and caterpillars outside of the au just as a normal sona, butterflies would be a cool approach to show some kind of change! That's also the shape of their cloak- butterfly wings!

Daemon saying to Rhaenyra that he left her bc she "was a child" in episode 7 -- he was the one who said to Viserys to marry them for the sake of the House and that he wanted her, the only thing he asked Viserys in spite of all he wanted; he also said she was not a girl anymore (she's past Westerosi marriageable age and older than 18); Laena is younger than Rhaenyra in the show, yet Daemon married her not long after he left KL, assuming so since we have another time jump after episode 5; Rhaenys and Corlys had a larger age gap than either Daemyra or Aemma x Viserys/Viserys x Alicent and Corlys would have been attracted and talking to Rhaenys for a while before they married for her to be so adamant about marrying him when she was 16....yet the show changes all that

Alicent is adamant in saving Rhaenyra despite having tried to essentially get her and her kids killed or exiled for 10 years

Daemon himself had to claim Caraxes, he didn't bond with him when he was a baby or small child, yet he doesn't know how to comfort his daughter Rhaena about the same "issue" that is actually not an issue at all

a possible relationship with Criston Cole is framed and shit as if it were the most romantic and healthy relationship Rhaenyra could have had aside from the one with Harwin (who still is messing around with a person way younger than him who he had been attracted to since before she hit 18) -> the music and the actors' playfulness of episode 4, the hopefulness of Criston's proposal unpaired with any indication of what a delusion he's drawn up of who she is despite living and talking with her for years...and the Daemon is supposed to be framed as one of the moral villains and antagonists and worst persons in Rhaenyra's personal circle

[pt.2 of the one above] the show not taking advantage of Criston Cole witnessing the white stag approach Rhaenyra and thus (for him, at least, with his devotion to Andal beliefs and customs) show us how he reacts to the sign legitimizing Rhaenyra...and then deciding to abandon her -> making it seem as if a relationship between them would in any way be healthier than one with Daemon -> really, just presenting this whole idea that this is a good relationship and making their separation sem more Rhaenyra's fault than actually Criston's!

Rhaenyra knowing that the greens are plotting against her for years to install Aegon, having proposed to Daemon explicitly saying she needed him for her upcoming conflict with he greens, and then calling it "Daemon's war" and not wanting Daemon to shore up their defenses not immediately imprisoning Otto Hightower to have him right where she can keep him

Rhaenyra flip-flopping between showing strength to Otto or Daemon....then crying over a torn out page from a person who tried to kill/banish her and her sons

Rhaenyra being in any way affected by Alicent's page when she told Alicent before Alicent is essentially the biggest hypocrite AND Alicent has been trying to get her and her kids either killed or banished forever -> the page was specifically about Nymeria who would become the founder of the current House of Martell and remade the entire Dornish culture through her conquests and marriage to the then Martell Andal-only lord, aka, one of ASoiaF's women who was completely assured of her autonomous right to rule and responsible for a literal cultural reset that only benefited both herself as well as those she conquered for generation into current time, ahem genderless primogeniture....Alicent is trying to usurp Rhaenyra based on the "only males can rule" bullshit....you can't make this stuff up

Rhaenys absolutely knowing (or should know) that the greens could and would imprison or kill any of her grandkids, herself, and Corlys....yet allowing them to live in episode 9

Aemond supposedly being the son who "reads all the philosophies and prepared himself for leadership to protect his home and family"...then making the bright decision in antagonizing an envoy under someone else's home and killing him after chasing him down for more than 5 minutes tops -> Even if it weren't a decision, that would be even worse! If he knew he didn't have control over a dragon, AND didn't want to kill Luke, just to scare him (for 5 mins?)...why chase him down at all?! He's been riding Vhagar for years, so he either should have been way better at getting her to obey him OR he would have known that he couldn't control her all that well and avoid letting his emotions get the better of him. He would have known the risks, yet took them anyway! Then we have to assume that he actually wanted Luke dead and sought it out. That he did have control over Vhagar! Otherwise, we fall back again on him just being a dumbass, bc again, he said he studied to become better, have more emotional control, be more strategic, and smarter...but then pulls this? What a mess!

Criston Cole managing to get out of execution or imprisonment simply because Alicent said so, when he killed a man under Viserys' roof and that same man essentially having had guests rights...(digressing from the topic of inconsistencies and plotholes, this does not happen in the book -- Cole killed Joffrey during a tourney match, which both show and book audiences know are highly dangerous, so the point there was that Cole could get away with it on account of it being an already dangerous sport/event that is socially sanctioned; the book's telling of how Cole killed Joffrey makes more sense and has more potential to be emotionally more charged with helplessness)

*the Targs somehow not having an ounce of darker skin or kinkier/curlier hair despite making the Velaryon the exclusively black house and Viserys/Daemon/Rhaenys have 2 female Velaryon ancestors*

Rhaenyra showing a desire for vengeance for Luke but not Visenya, who died before Luke and who she lost while trying to hurry up and respond to the green threat herself without Daemon "interfering" (AND her calling the council at all, in the book, for the fact that she lost Visenya and the greens took her throne...again, going back to how she knows the greens want it)

episode 3, in the daytime Daemon (relatively way less armored than before) charges through the field without getting a single arrow to the head but in the 2nd episode (nighttime) an arrow pierces what looks to be his chest or shoulder while he is in full armor and on the mobile Caraxes. The entire thing, while entertaining and shocking, still makes about as much sense as Rhaenys bursting through the floor of the Dragonpit; my man should have become a porcupine with specific choreography matches with the specific set pieces and props locations they decided to go with

I've put a lot of time and effort into the concept of Roy and Lian Harper becoming associated with the preboot Legion of Super-Heroes, because to me I see the Harpers and the Legionnaires were abandoned by the narrative when it was decided they didn't matter to a larger name character.

The Legionnaires went for several years without needing Superboy in their book. Hell, they basically kicked him out of his own comic. They were one of DC's most popular teams and managed just fine without his ongoing presence.

Roy was developing just fine as Arsenal without Green Arrow's presence. In fact Ollie was dead for most of the period where Roy really came into the name. While Lian grew beyond her role as the cute infant prop she was in the 80s, gaining an insightful personality and a legitimate presence in the Titans books.

Then all of that went down the drain as soon as some editor decided none of it mattered. The Legion was screwed over because DC never bothered to consider what would happen to them after they removed Superboy entirely from Superman's history, at which point the Legion's entire existence was thrown out of whack. Despite their strong fan base and deep lore, DC couldn't stop to factor in how they'd be effected by John Byrne's Man of Steel. It would be over 20 years until DC finally allowed the Legion to be part of Superman's history again, and then that was quickly screwed up when they overhauled his history AGAIN in the New 52.

Roy and Lian were screwed over because DC decided they needed to overhaul Green Arrow and Black Canary thanks to the failure of the GA/BC marriage. Even though Lian had little to do with the Green Arrow comics - she only appeared in ONE Green Arrow before she died - she was deemed unnecessary by editorial. Lian died, and Roy was twisted into a parody of himself to make him another failure to haunt both Ollie and Dinah's consciences. While he was running around with Jade in Deathstroke's bastard Titans, his parental figures were free to mourn how they failed him without ever really grasping just how deep that failure ran.

As of right now, the Legion's status now hinges entirely on how relevant they are to Superman's history. Instead of the childhood friends of Clark Kent, they were replaced by a bastardized copy which gleefully took Jon Kent away from his family to try and mold him into their perceived image of how he needed to be, solidifying the loathed age-up.

The idea of Roy and Lian being a family again seemed like actual poison to DC's editors as Roy spent years deemed an accessory to Red Hood, of all people, while Lian was randomly picked to be Catwoman's new protégé in a poorly executed story which only made the timeline more confusing. Even when it looked like father and daughter could finally reunite, it only happened when it was convenient to Green Arrow's narrative. They don't get to be near each other unless Ollie benefits from the interactions. Roy knew Lian was alive again for over two years but wasn't allowed to do anything to find her until they were both in a Green Arrow book. And they still were torn apart from each other, with Roy's status being used to once more haunt his mentor while Lian's the one doing... whatever.

To me, I've seen how the Legion and the Harpers have both been failed by the narrative of the DCU. Their accomplishments and their roles were deemed inconsequential if they weren't in service of some other A-List character (or B-List in Red Hood's case), and despite how DC keeps promising things will change the same problems keep repeating.

I’d love more of Louis on social media, like the Q&A and fan challenges ideas the previous anon mentioned. And I agree LTHQ is dropping the ball in lots of ways. But I also think Louis not doing social media in the same way, for example, that Niall does ultimately comes down to Louis just not wanting to do it. It seems to me (and I know I might be totally wrong!) like he’s measured the pros of how social media could advance his career against the cons of having to do something he doesn’t enjoy, and he’s decided his dislike of doing social media outweighs the benefits. Maybe LTHQ isn’t doing a good job of pitching it to him, but with his experience in the industry, it’s weird they should have to. And of course there’s still so much more they could do on social media without even needing his direct involvement.

But even if he’s decided not to put a lot of direct effort into expanding his fan base - and that’s obviously his call to make, and we might all make the same decision if we were him and knew all the considerations involved - I’m still surprised and disappointed he doesn’t do it just as a way to engage with current fans. 😔 I think he’s authentic when he talks about his relationship with his fans, and more social media would be such a great way to connect with us. Doesn’t have to be anything formal! And it’s especially a great way to give back to fans who can’t get to a show. I always appreciate your take on things - am I really off base? hi! sorry I'm answering late but I was busy earlier

when I talked about fun promo I was thinking more of things like YouTube interviews/late night shows with games etc (I have been campaigning for the celebrity bake off thing for YEARS) and fun photoshoots, things that keep fans engaged, that give us content and also insight in a different side of louis in a more relaxed environment.

I think its really important to make the fan experience actually fun in general but especially with louis bc there are so many things to get frustrated about that nobody can really change like the radio blacklisting or the close contact with sides of the fandom that hate each other so its crucial imo to offer fun distractions and in general to keep fans interested! this is a sort of hobby for people right? and nobody wants an hobby that's not enjoyable!

I do think louis doesn't like social media and honestly it's fine like it doesn't have to be the end all be all of everything, and a good a social media manager can work on it anyways (regular posting especially in promo season would help him get more followers/not lose them and it wouldn't be so hard).

but like, we already know radio is out, award shows and other events don't invite him/he doesn't go, he doesn't do festivals bc "they don't call him" (although I think it's more like he has a shitty booking agent), he doesn't do collaborations, and then if we cut out photoshoots and social media and YouTube stuff too what is left?? like genuinely we're just left with the usual rehearsed print interviews with the same questions and answers and then the classic promo interviews on TV that louis doesn't even like doing bc they make him anxious!! like how is that productive in any way! neither him or us are actually happy ! also it would be great for him to be seen by the gp in an actual happy light instead of the "hope after tragedy/difficulties " light!

look, this is totally speculation bc I don't know him, but I do think that louis is not comfortable with/scared of uncontrollable environment and of engaging with funny things, imo bc for years people have been either laughing at him and insulting him or analyzing his every gesture to spot "gayness" or whatever. nobody who has been subjected to that for years will remain unscathed, it's like putting a plant in a dark room without water and asking why is it not giving flowers.

but the problem with comfort zones is that they can very very easily become our own limits, we think they're keeping the world out but really they're just trapping us in. if u leave someone in the dark too long their eyes get adjusted to it and then they won't get out bc the light hurts them !

what I'm saying is that when I say louis needs a new manager/team it's bc I think he needs someone who won't just settle for the bare minimum necessary to keep louis happy, he needs someone with ideas and ambitions and the guts to push him a little out of his comfort zone and to encourage his growth! his team is way too lazy and unimaginative and they're just happy with what they have now , and for some reason don't seem to realize that things are always changing and u can't expect to keep something forever without taking proper care of it

it's sad bc louis works so hard on what he does but then it all gets washed away into nothingness and he ends up blaming himself all the time, I just want that cycle to be broken

somewhat related: I also think that his story/image/persona whatever you want to call it won't quite be complete/make sense/be truly compelling until he actually gives us the bigger picture, like he always talks about the difficulties he's faced but what are they exactly? who's the enemy? (a good story needs a good enemy just as much as it needs a good hero!) ,he was insecure and lost after the band but why? what made him feel that way? he's always telling up about the "after" and the consequences but we never quite understand the before

us fans know the answer to these questions or at least we've tried to come up with them but to people who don't have access to all that background knowledge and who are just checking him out it's not so clear, and a story like that can truly be efficient if it stops being superficial imo

so I'm curious to see how that has been explored in the documentary and I really hope that it won't be the same few things we already know but actually the real underbelly of the story (within the legal confines that I'm sure he has to respect rip)

ahaha omg of course! Thank you for asking 🥰 SO like originally, Eren and Mikasa were both toxic, and it was like a mutual problematic relationship lol, but then I was having a hard time justifying both of them. Like this is my original kind of running with it idea, you can kind of see what I mean about keeping them both faithful to each other and more of just like break up every five seconds kind of couple instead of actualyl sleeping around 😂 which in an angsty fic like this would have just not made sense and been too hard ahaha.

Eren and Mikasa have a fucked-up relationship. They’re a thing and everyone knows it except them, they think they’re just friends with benefits, except both of them want to be more and instead of talking about it like normal people they’re just playing this weird game of chicken.  They break up every five minutes for two reasons, Eren’s busy and doesn’t have time for her always and Mikasa’s family hates Eren. It causes a lot of conflict, but they always go back to each other in the end. 

But this time, this time something is wrong and Eren is actually upset. Mikasa said something that cut too deep. And now he might actually fuck someone else. 

Another thing I changed, and this was very last minute lol was actually the ending I wrote a part of it a long time ago that I found and was gonna run with where it does end in a grand gesture and Mikasa takes Eren to a big gala or event and says fuck u to her aunt and uncle! But i wasn't quite sure how to implement it!

So, to prove it to him. The next day she dolls her boyfriend up after sending him out to break up with Historia and says fuck it and takes him as her date to yet another dumb business gala.  Her aunt and uncle are not at all pleased with the development and tell her if he’s not gone in an hour they’ll be having a very stern discussion about it.  Other guests on the other hand, love him and how could they not? He’s Eren and he’s charming and kind and he’s going to be a doctor. She doesn’t know why she wasted so much time without him by her side. 

Honestly tho, I could see doing this in a second chapter like as an epilogue almost ahaha bc a very large part of me definitely wants to give Eren that grand gesture that he deserves 🤧🤧

Lastly, I was also planning to have Mikasa's seduction arc be much longer lol, like she had PLANS of getting her mans back lol, but I wrote one scene and realized it was very similar to the other ahahah and was like nah this feels like Switch EM rather than RIP Luv EM ahahahaha

Has he always been this inscrutable while she walks around in nothing? She’s wearing nothing but a skimpy black satin robe and has been lounging around the kitchen for a half an hour now, giving Eren great glimpses of her thighs, a peak at her chest. 

Hell, there had even been some nipple action at one point.  And yet he remains fastidiously focused on his task of making chicken cutlets.  He hasn’t been able to escape the apartment for a few days, Historia’s absence taking with it his escape to her apartment. So, he’s been hiding out in his room, coming out only to eat and Mikasa had taken the opportunity to accost him at dinner time.  She demands his attention now that she’s decided she wants him back, she needs to make it clear who he belongs to. 

She’s sitting at the counter, sipping a protein shake she’d stolen from him when he turns around to place the cutlets out to cool.  Mikasa decides now is the opportune time to let her sleeve slip just a little, exposing a tantalizing amount of cleavage.  Eren’s eyes zero in on the dusting of pink where her nipple begins, just the smallest of slips and he glares at her.  He clears his throat, “Maybe you should put some clothes on?”

Mikasa shrugs daintily, allowing the sleeve to fall more, more dusky pink exposed, she’s almost spilling out of her robe now.  “Aren’t you cold?”  “Nope!” She sings, “Can I have some of your cutlets?”  “If you put some clothes on I’ll consider it.”  She huffs in irritation, tugging her robe back up into place, “Happy now?”  “Not really,” Eren tells her tightly and she scowls. 

This is going to be more difficult than she thought.

OUGHGH thank u very much for the ask...... I'm still kinda embarrassed to talk about him but here he is. His name is Malachy, Mal for short. he's a half-elf Rogue (Arcane Trickster). I went with Dark Urge as his origin, so his story is still shrouded in mystery at this point in the game but he's quite submissive to the Urge.

I would classify him as MAYBE Neutral Evil based on his non-Urge actions in the game so far but this is subject to change, and the needle has moved closer to Lawful at a few points in the game, depending on the person involved and the stakes at hand.

honestly.... he's a pretty terrible person with a disgusting attitude and I would probably hate him if he were real. He will kill without hesitation anyone who wrongs him and anyone he thinks as deserving. if he spares someone or rescues a soul, it's usually because he thinks it will benefit him later

I can't say much else on him bc i've just barely started Act 2, but he's been one of the most enjoyable characters i've played as in my time of RPGs. i really love roleplaying characters who are terrible people and Mal has been one of nastiest yet. he's so awful and he honestly scares me sometimes! I also kinda think he should die but at the same time i care about him..... DELICIOUS THANK YOU!!!! 🧡

The main companions atm are Gale, Lae'zel and Astarion. Lae'zel admires him and has almost max approval with him (I just finished Act 1). Gale likes him but they've argued a few times already in the game, yet he still maintains good approval with him somehow. better approval than Astarion actually, who approves of nearly all of Mal's heinous deeds in-game but gives a lot of disapproval when Mal is mean to him, which is almost always! So despite sharing a hankering for violence and a lust for blood i don't think Astarion likes him much, which makes him the smartest person in this party

romance is kinda weird. He hooked up with Minthara after the raid, but Minthara's romance in this game is notoriously broken and i think it's going to stay broken on this save file since the "fixes" have been inconsistent for most players. So i sadly decided that would be a one-time thing for him 😭 but towards the end of Act 1 after some story developments featuring Lae'zel i realized that those two were unimaginably compatible together and so I think they're endgame. The gratitude she shows towards him, how much she respects him, how similar they are in a lot of capacities..... just really touches my soul and it feels like love to me, or at least the closest thing to love I can imagine these two characters feeling. So they slept together, at the VERY end of Act 1, and i'm waiting to see what direction that goes in. But i have a really good feeling about it honesty.....

there's also the question of Gale. Gale clashes with Mal a LOT in the game and there was even a scene between them where he quite literally damned him? but then later on after that we got a scene where Gale was clearly interested in him so it turns out Gale also has a crush on him i guess?? Don't really know if it's a bug but i'm kinda happy it developed that way bc honestly it's such a juicy concept HJDFBHKJBGK 😭😭 Mal's a Heterosexual Man though so he doesnt return the feelings and now Gale is stuck with a big fat unrequited crush on Mal that i never anticipated or intended to happen. Gale is my absolute favorite character in the game though so I've never wanted an OC to kill themselves so bad until i had Mal cut off that insanely really romantic moment with Gale DFJHBDKHJG I HATE HIM SO MUCH MAN........ MOST EVIL THING HE'S DONE IN THE GAME SO FAR!! GALE SHOULD KILL HIM.

Admittedly i do really like the idea of Mal, Lae'zel and Gale being in a really weird and twisted situationship where they often can't stand being around one another as a result of their strong personalities and insane moral compasses but are also kinda obsessed with each other and have a lot of unsaid feelings between the three of them. AND MAYBE THEY ALL KISS OR SOMETHING this is all totally in my head and relies exclusively on just. My imagination going wild as i perceive them in the game. they're the worsties ever and uhhh I hate them?/ I actually love them that just seemed like a funny thing to say.......

RIGHT, I was trying to give Mimzy a benefit of a doubt bc, as much as I love that Velvette is ✋🏽 coded especially after seeing her hair in its natural state, she's no better than the other Vee's.

So I wanted to do something different. And yes, kinda. She's kinda friends with Angel bc they both have to deal with Val's pissy baby antics. I say kinda bc they started off rocky.

As introduced in the mini comic/explanation of how she even became "Cotton Candy", she met Val a few months after she died. To her, Val saw potential and was interested in her. Believed that he even loved her. That was until she saw him with Angel.

The way he treated Angel was the same way he treated her. The affection, the sweet talks, the gifts. But... she's never gotten a pet from him. Or got to be in his room. Or had her own makeup line. She feared that Angel was her replacement.

So, out of fear, subconsciously or otherwise, she asked him.

"Are we... Okay? There's no one else, right?"

And as always, he reassured her with his usual biggest reddened smile. "There's nothing you need to worry about, mi conejita."

And as usual, it always puts a soft smile on Candy's face, her body relieved of its worry. Despite that, Val knew she was worried about being replaced, and knowing that, he saw that it just motivated her more to make him more money. Even if that meant having to make a competition between his two best stars.

He was much sweeter with her than he was with Angel, which for a moment, it distracted her from her envy of him. He seemed like a natural at this and it upset her. But Val did treat them differently and she noticed.

He didn't hit her or degrade her for being useless. Even when she couldn't give much effort into multiple clients like Angel could. And... Even then, Val, in his twisted mind, believed that she wasn't giving her all because she was "saving herself" for him later. She told him that it was the opposite. She honestly wasn't feeling well despite her stamina. She knew she couldn't let her clients' actions and sick desires affect her, but it did take a toll. One she wasn't used to just yet since she was new to her latest career in Hell.

In a whiny voice, he cooed at her. "Baby, you'd have to have been saving yourself for me, otherwise," He peers down at her. "There's no way you'd let me down on purpose. Would you?"

She shook her head quickly, making his smile sweeter again. "Good. Now, show daddy what you've got." Despite not wanting to, her mind and body screaming at her that she couldn't do it. But she didn't want to disappoint him. Never.

That was until Val decided to become different with Angel. He was quick to anger, wasn't pleased at the certain things Angel had done. She witnessed how he was one night, angry that Angel hadn't pleased a client well enough, and that meant not getting the money he wanted.

Throwing him around and slapping him in the face. That's when she stepped in. Not only to stop him from abusing Angel, but of the thought of her being in Angel's position. Granted, she had her days where she just couldn't give her all and he wasn't like that with her.

But that didn't excuse what was happening right in front of her.

Before he could land another hand on Angel, she stepped on, stopping him. Val sputtered excuses and she paid him no mind, helping Angel up but he flinched away from her as well, making her feel hurt but she dismissed it.

This entire time, she'd been so envious of Angel getting Val's attention, she didn't realize all the actual things he was doing to him.

Cuphead//Werner Werman x Military!Reader

A/N: New Cuphead season came out and I’m hyper-fixating again. I took matters into my own hands and wrote Werner with a military s/o bc there aren’t any others. I’m thinking of writing a full on fic or two with this concept, but would ya’ll read them?

Note: The beginning part of this is just the backstory of who you are and it’s kinda (really) long so sorry abt that; It’s all the text before the “read more” breaker. There’s also a section about PTSD so if that makes you uncomfortable then read the last parts of this carefully (or don’t at all, I’ve labeled the section in question).

Werner Wermin With a Military Veteran S/O:

During the war you were one of the many people displaced due to the conflict. Originally you were placed in a refugee camp separated from your family. It wasn’t until you learned that your family had not been recovered that you decided to join the fight. 

You were trained under Lieutenant Kettle and was certified as a sharpshooter in the marine corp before being swapped over to medical staff after adequate training. 

Being so young and having just lost everything, Kettle made it part of his job to look after you. He knows the horrors of war and how terrible people can be in it, so he wanted to do whatever he could to prevent you from seeing the true horrors of it all.

Despite his best efforts though, working as a sniper and then field medic had you see things that you wouldn’t believe happened had you not witnessed it first hand: How long different beings can live without water, how fast certain gasses can cause people to pass out, how far the joints on different kinds of bodies can fold backwards on themselves. You name it and you’ve probably seen it. 

You and Lieutenant Kettle did make it out of the war; Alive, but not unscathed. Kettle’s injuries were able to be fixed not easily but completely, and he returned home mostly okay. 

You on the other hand were not so lucky. Since humans are somewhat rare worldwide, there isn’t much in the field of medicine for treating human injuries and illness. Because of this, a spinal injury you received during service technically rendered you handicapped, making you eligible for benefits. While you’re not visibly handicapped, you still felt pain some days where you had been shot in the back, but other than that you got around just fine. 

For a while, Lieutenant Kettle -- who now went by “Elder” Kettle -- let you live with him seeing as you had no home to return to. You moved out into your own cottage just a short walk away from his own after about a year when the VA began giving you your benefits. 

Not long after, two young boys, Cuphead and Mugman, showed up at Elder Kettle’s door and he took care of them as if they were his own, with assistance from you of course. You grew to love them rather quickly; They were like your younger brothers!

For a while you lived by yourself quietly, frequently visiting Elder Kettle and the brothers. While you liked your life, you did often feel lonely. Returning home to an empty house was somewhat depressing at times.

That all changed when you met “Werner Werman,” an eccentric engineer who is a rather crafty, if not annoying, rat. A literal rat.

At first, you avoided him whenever you saw him. You immediately recognized his uniform as being that of your enemy and just seeing his helmet was enough to send you into a panic. The fact that he was always in his “tank” didn’t make you any more comfortable being around him. 

It wasn’t until you saw him outside of his tank, however, that actually made you consider speaking to him. 

You were just exiting a local market in the early afternoon when you saw him. You were about to turn around and keep walking when you noticed something very peculiar about him: He had no tail. Not to mention his considerable clumsiness, knocking over a few items from vending stalls as he passed by and cussing at the understandably angry venders in German. 

It was only when you saw him struggle to grab something from one of the stalls that you decided to help. Hesitantly, you walked up and asked if he needed help. The rat stared at you before saying, “Could jou lift me up zo zhat I can zpeak vith zhe clerk?”

You took a deep breath in before doing as he asked, wiping your hand off on your shirt as he turned away to speak to the man. He bought a pack of cigars before asking you to help him down.

“Jou are much nicer zhan most ozhers around, mein Herr/Frau.” He said as you placed him on the ground, “Zhe name’s Verner Vermin, should jou ever need mein help.” 

With that, he walked off leaving you to return to your own home. 

Anytime you’d see him after that he’d always greet you and ask for you to help him reach something if needed. You got to know him a little better during these times and, to your surprise, you became fast friends as you grew to enjoy his company.

You mentioned Werner to Elder Kettle in passing once and he looked at you shocked, surprised that you knew him. You asked if he knew him and he explained that he met him only once on the battlefield.

For weeks you continued about your daily business, speaking to Werner whenever time allowed you. Despite his rather loud voice, you learned fairly quickly that Werner was rather shy and introverted when it came to speaking to people he actually liked. The subject of engineering and repurposing junk would frequently come up, seemingly because he was most comfortable with such topics of discussion. 

Eventually, Werner mentioned how he served in the war and that’s when you let him know that you too served in it, just on the opposite side though. He grows silent, pensive, at that and turns to you asking, “Iz zhat vhy jou avoided me before?”

Shocked, you explained your rationale and immediately he began to understand. 

The irritability, the low appetite, the worried glances you’d give whenever something around you fell. You had PTSD.

His attitude around and to you changed in little ways. Werner would lower his voice whenever possible and he’d ask if you were okay whenever you got a dissociative look on your face.

Unknown to you, Werner had begun to harbor a crush on you. He actually didn’t realize it either until he spoke to his friend Cala about you. 

Also unknown to you was the fact that you also began to harbor feelings for Werner as well. Perhaps there was a part of you that still believed he was the enemy and therefore you couldn’t be with him. But despite that, your feelings for him continued to grow.

It’s for that reason that when he asked you out on a date you were so shocked that you couldn’t say anything for a moment, you just stared. He thought your silence ment no but you had to quickly assure him that, yes, you wanted to go on a date.

The date was nice; You two simply went out to dinner together and had a small drink. Throughout the whole date, however, you noticed how nervous Werner was and it took a while for you to ease his nerves saying things like, “Yes, I like the flowers,” and, “No, I like engineering. Please continue.” Stuff like that.

At the end of the night, he offered to walk you home, but you denied his offer and instead offered to walk him home. Like you, he tried to reject it, but eventually gave in realizing he wouldn’t win against you. You wouldn’t tell him this, but you honestly didn’t want him walking around too much with such poor balance. 

You wished Werner a good night at his home (?) and asked him when the next date was. Surprised, and somewhat bashful, Werner smiled nervously and said whenever you’d like. 

Spoiler alert: You two went on many dates after that night and officially started dating.

Werner would always have you over to show off his creations and machinery, often talking for hours about how every little thing worked, not that you minded at all. You quite liked the sound of his voice.

During one of these many visits, you finally ask Werner why he had no tail. Werner explained through deep breaths that during the war his tail was literally blown off. He also elaborated on the fact that without his tail he now had difficulty staying balanced when standing and walking. 

You comforted Werner, explaining your similar injury -- making sure not to use the word “disability” because God knows how veterans hate to say they’re disabled -- and how it also affects your ability to move around. 

It was after that day you began research into prosthetics. You spoke to Werner about it and at first he was hesitant before agreeing to at least try. 

You created a few designs based on his size and determined how it would rest on his body. Werner then helped to translate those designs into actual working prototypes. 

It took a few tries but eventually you two came up with a design that worked really well. It wasn’t like a real tail completely, but it made walking for Werner so much easier and, while he won’t admit it, the first time he tested it out he teared up a little. 

Sometime later you eventually asked Werner to move in with you. His home was a long walk away for both of you and if you were being honest you felt that his home wasn’t all that easy to move around in anyways. 

Werner accepted your invite with glee and was moved in so damn fast. 

Suddenly, your home was a lot less quiet, being filled with the constant clatter of metal and the welting of parts. You and Werner made it a habit to work on ways to make your home more accessible for him considering his small size.

You were also surprised to meet Katzenwagen for the first time, believing him to be just a regular cat. But Werner surprised you like always and showed you just what he was and how he made him.

You liked cats, so you loved having Katzenwagen around as well.

You’d also bring Werner with you sometimes to visit the cup brothers and Elder Kettle.

Something that you two liked to talk about is your time in the military. He was glad to have someone to talk to about it and you didn’t mind listening to his ramblings. 

But Werner’s just as good of a listener as he is a talker. He was silent whenever you’d talk about your experience since, out of the two, you were more private about your time in the military.

Having Werner living with you now took away a part of the privacy you had before and opened him up to some of the more…unsavory effects war had on you at such a young age. 

Similar to Werner, there are days where the pain from your injury makes you irritable. You’re very quick to anger and have gotten angry with Werner a few times. He doesn’t take it personally, however, and helps to distribute your pain medications. You always apologize to him the next day.

While generally a rarity, there are some days where you’re silent, never uttering a word from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to sleep. You often sat and stared on days like these, not even doing anything to pass the time. Werner would often talk to you on those days, filling your silence with his chatter and explaining all his current and future projects. He can never tell if you were actually listening to him.

Sometimes, when waking up from nightmares, you forget where you are. Werner, sleeping in the room right next to yours, often wakes up to you screaming and rushes over to check on you. 

One of three things usually happens: You are dazed and question where you are, you become extremely hostile to others (usually Werner since he’s the only one around), or you engage in self-destructive behavior.

Werner always hopes it’s the first outcome when he walks into your room. You can be found standing in the middle of the room looking around at everything and even picking some things up and examining them. When you see Werner, you ask him who he is and where you two are. He calmly explains that you’re in your house and he’s your lover.

“I have a lover?” You asked one time, “You’re my lover?” You held his small hands while saying, “Well, I’m glad I have such a handsome lover then.”

Mans was red in the face embarrassed. 

He often speaks with you for a little before having you go back to sleep. When you wake up, you remember who you are, but none of the events of the previous night.

The second, and one of the more unnerving ones, is when you become violent with Werner after nightmares. You think you’re still in the middle of the war and respond as such.

There was one instant where you pulled a gun --the handgun you keep under your pillow that Werner had helped customize for you -- on Werner after he entered the room and spoke, immediately recognizing his thick German accent. You had threatened to “blow his head off his shoulders” if he didn’t leave. 

It took a lot of convincing, and shouting, for you to put the gun down. Werner explained who he was and where you were, often pointing to things around your room to help prove that he was telling the truth. 

He’d often leave your room during one of these episodes after he calms you down, giving you space to do as you pleased in that room until you fell asleep again. Similar to before, you don’t remember the previous night, but Werner keeps a wary eye on you the next day.

The third and perhaps scariest out of the three is when you become destructive against yourself. 

Werner is much, much smaller than you. Usually this doesn’t matter in your general relationship as you don’t mind having a smaller lover and often help him move around. 

The issue comes about when you enter one of these self-destructive episodes. Werner cannot physically stop you from hurting yourself. No matter how much he screams and begs, how much he grabs at you and whatever you may be holding, it’s truly as if he doesn’t exist. 

It’s his complete and utter uselessness in these moments that scares Werner the most. 

The first time it happened, Werner thought you were going to kill yourself. 

You were absolutely manic: screaming, crying, tearing at your body and drawing blood, all the while you were mumbling something about a younger sister. 

You couldn’t hear Werner’s screaming over your own, nor could you feel his desperate touches over your nails. 

Knowing that he couldn’t do anything to stop you, Werner rushed over to Elder Kettle’s cottage in the middle of the night, screaming at the man to hurry and move faster because you were gonna kill yourself if you didn’t stop.

Living so close to Elder Kettle made it easy for them to get to you quickly and once there, Kettle had to restrain you to stop you.

You eventually passed out in his arms, so Elder Kettle covered you up and allowed you to sleep. The two men spoke outside of your room and that’s when Werner broke down crying, muttering how useless he is and how he can’t help you. It’s then that he wonders how many times you’ve woken up like this, confused and in despair, before he came to live with you.

Elder Kettle is quick to talk him through everything and even gives Werner more backstory on you before joining the military. 

The two devise a plan of action in case you ever have one of these episodes again. It’s very, very rare, but you do sometimes enter these manic episodes and it never gets easier for either of them.

It’s after this event of self-harm that Werner helps sign you up for therapy.

Therapy was something that Werner went to with mild success, but he suggests that maybe it will help you more than it did him.

He even offers to join you in secessions if you’d feel more comfortable with him. 

Werner also helps to change things around the house, specifically your room, to make it safer and more comforting when you panic. He even adds a few of his own things to your room so that you can hopefully be reminded of him in a good way when you wake up dazed.

While not completely better, there is improvement in your behavior. These episodes become less and less frequent and Werner learns how to properly guide you through them.

Werner absolutely adores you, flaws and all. Just as you were willing to help him recover, he is willing to help you recover as well, even if it’s in a different way. 

For someone who was forced to see so much from such a young age, it never ceases to amaze Werner just how genuinely kind you are. You treat the cup brothers as if they’re your own brothers and often help others you see in need out of the kindness of your heart. After all, that’s how you two met. 

Werner wants to be the absolutely best lover he can be for you and you share that same sentiment. 

You’ve often thought about marrying someone after you left the war with Elder Kettle, but at the time you didn’t know anyone. With Werner, you had everything you could possibly want and need. 

Werner’s stories and creations often amazed you and inspired you to create things that would help others who are sick or injured. 

The two of you are still quite young, but who knows. With time, you may just ask him to be your husband.

You’d even let Cuphead and Mugman be the flower boys.

SO they're technically backgroundish characters for a DnD world bc Teary is part of the Pantheon for the world but. it's not about them it's about my guys!!

so teary is the son of Light and Shadows. his full name is tearithus, because why the hell not he can have some drama as a treat, he starts as a funky little imp, a bard-esque guy, who's kind of the comedic relief? he's the least toxic-masculinity-ified man you've ever met, though, because. his mother refused. their story is in three arcs and between one and two he gets mass promoted from imp to archdevil bc. yknow. saving the world and all that jazz. anyway he gets some body issues deals with that for a While. he deals with them by creating a magic circle that creates a 'permanent' shape change on his body to send his actual form to the ethereal plane. (he does not deal with them for a While.) he's loud and dramatic until literally anyone in the party starts talking, and then. he just sits and listens.

and his bestie my bestie chara. it's not her actual name (that's barely shared bc. points. fae). her title is the lady of fire, keeper of memories and watcher of time, but she doesn't try to get into that much. she's just a sad gay phoenix woman who misses her wife. she is So Self-Sacrificing and for what? Self hatred?? anyway she lost her wife in the First War, got her wife's Orb, and realized that she's possibly never going to see her wife again because her soul is nowhere. she's a fae (bc phoenix) and so struggles a lot in transitions between realms, but the transition that hit her hardest was, naturally, faerie to material. her wife helped her then. a millenia later, teary shows up at her doorstep, bleeding out, and she helps him just how she was helped. she has innate magic (sorcerer!!) and absolutely loves fucking with her own appearance. her spellcasting focus is her wedding ring– when she realized teary set up the Circle to hide his appearance, she said she wouldn't tell if he hid her ring too– focuses are targeted, she points out, and she'll be damned if she ever loses that. she can die and 'be reborn', but it's based on deals: if she dies, she gets sent to Liminality, too far from where she knows safety, and a Demon or Angel pops up to offer her a deal. she haggles and returns to life with some benefit or disadvantage. towards the end of arc two, she gets hung, and returns in a blaze of fire with true sight, but her Actual Vision is taken– her eyes are pure flame.

if duos were made of my guys, chara and mini would get paired up a lot just because teary and august are Love Interests TM. this whole friend group are Friends With Each Other, and these two have that good good sapphic/aroace bonding. they're besties. they're competitors. they have completely different views on the gods. mini, if i had to sum them up in a 'describe your character like Shit challenge,' would be: an amnesiac ghost wakes up in the Liminality with a sword and decides to solve a mystery. mini is self named– short for minutia– and they're a paladin of the Innkeeper, one of the Pantheon (Time). Mini's title starts as 'The Sword of the Innkeeper' and they are a damn good paladin. they don't have control over too many things at the start– their main motivation is to know Who They Are– but, really, their main arc is finding themself in the world itself, figuring out that they are not defined by who they were in life. it helps that, being a ghost and a dead elf, they have almost complete resistance to magical effects on physical forms and non-magic weapons– they will refuse to die. they're not naïve, but they are optimistic, which pairs them and teary together against chara and august pretty often, who are a bit more pessimistic/pragmatic.

and! speaking of august! my darling augustine, High Angel of Mercy. she begins the story serving under Life, but ends up just serving the cause, the belief of Mercy. She, of all Immortals, is the one pushing closest to Godhood without being one. she doesn't want to be one. she died half a decade into the First War– she was followed home from a town square performance and shot twice– and she's been Working In This Vein of Bullshit for the longest. if i had to give her a dnd class it would be monk: she does the punches, not the magics, but thoroughly diverts the 'magics person is the leader, punchies are the henchman with no thoughts' idea by Being So On Top Of Her Shit. she's got portals set up to each Plane, commissions Sending Earrings/Rings for the group, does a lot of Heaven's paperwork, and is too much of a perfectionist to not Have Her Shit Together. she's not, exactly, go-with-the-flow as much as the rest of the group is, because she is Terrified Of Fucking Up, but she is ruthless and impulsive in battle once she knows the people she's fighting have Wronged in a way that cannot be reprieved. also, she likes to dance. wonder what that's about? couldn't be her Life.

teary and chara have known each other the longest: legends build, you see, and townsfolk are afraid, and so when Teary came to the Material he got shot. a couple times. and a kind soul in the woods told him of the Firebird in the Mountains, so you best believe he hightailed it up there. he found her, and she helped him, and they have tea every Tuesday, where they absolutely gossip and are happy to admit it.

teary and august met next: teary works in hell for a Long While– being an imp, not a god, where would he go?– and august is basically the Deal With Anything Anywhere department of heaven, so when some trappings of Uncanny Necromancy starts to pop up on the material– and they're summoning from both Heaven and Hell– august goes Give Me One'a You Guys and gets teary to help her out. they become friends and just. keep working together.

then there's something messing with faerie, their souls being trapped in heaven instead of melting into the Being Of The World, and teary goes 'gustie i know a guy' and drags in chara. chara and august are DELIGHTED with each other and bond over lightly ribbing teary and also pretty women and also the world is fucked up and we lost Too Much to War, didn't we? anyway they get that cleared up :)

mini comes along last– it's 6 years into the Second War when heaven and hell stop receiving souls and august realizes there's a backup at the Inn at The End of The World. the innkeeper goes Help Me Please the Inn Isn't Made To Hold This Many People and mini, being one of these souls and being nosy and also knowing 'hey i worshipped this one. that's my Diety Right There' goes how can i help? and! the party is complete!

So about the stars >=) there is a sun and people in the world Assume there May Have Been more like it in the past!! But the sun is to their world what one random dragon would be to us, really; it's there, and no one can deny Its Nature, but people are a bit confounded or skeptical about it. The absence of light at night has largely been blamed on vampires as something they achieved (incorrect, though they do benefit from only having one sun-source to worry about). But there's no more proof for that theory than there is the concept other stars ever existed at all :3

What actually happened doesn't have any definitive documentation in canon anymore!! It was all intentionally destroyed by the involved parties and the main characters never fully learn the big picture <3 but essentially. An extremely long time ago and far beyond living memory, some particularly ambitious individuals decided to Bring Down and Swallow stars for their power ^_^ the resulting conflict was apocalyptic but ultimately the stars lost, and so there are no stars anymore =) unless

The giant fucked up wall could refer to three things and I'm insane so I will tell u abt them all ^-^

The titular City of Gears has many a fucked up wall !! It was built into a mountain and meant to be a sanctuary for vampires, away from the sun. But the original architect wanted to ensure the vampires were safe from even the most immortal threats (teehee!!), so he designed the city as a labyrinth with hundreds of walls that could rotate, appear and disappear, and raise and lower; this on top of stationary walls, as well. The idea was that the labyrinth's pattern would never be the same twice and change once a month, thus making it impossible for an immortal threat to spend centuries memorizing the city's layout for an attack.

Blynnfell's Crown isn't necessarily fucked up and crazy insane like the City of Gears' rotating labyrinth but it is Different !! Blynnfell is the capital of the country and sits on the southeast coast, sort of boxed in by the continental-long Blackcrest River and the sea ^-^ it's surrounded by enormous and thick as hell jagged shards of stoneglass (in our world we call it alexandrite). Its primary purpose is to absorb light reflecting off the ocean + manage the city's light pollution, but it's almost as hard as diamond, so it makes for excellent defense as well. The city is always surrounded by a very colorful glow, it's rather pretty =)

The Spire isn't technically a wall itself but it is fucked up <3 it's the seat of the Lovely Prince (the title of the current and singular god). It's been heavily enchanted and covered in illusions; the Lovely Prince doesn't actually maintain it well, so it's a rather derelict mess in reality, but the illusion projects an opulent veneer. The illusion persists as long as the Lovely Prince is around to maintain it :3

The characters ougghghghgaaaaa the characters >=) I am sure u have heard me mention all of them at some point but the core four are Daciana Cel Tradat (vampire), Mortimer Crackbone (human), Vidar Rothmoor (fey), and Kadija Ekunye (human). The four of them get together to kill the Lovely Prince ^-^ I won't get TOO into book 2 shenanigans here just bc this is already soooo long SJDHGDSG

Daciana is the head of the group and the duology's deuteragonist. She personally assembles the gang to kill the Lovely Prince, she plans out how to travel to the Spire without drawing attention, she refuses to stop until she completes her goal, and she goes against the vampiric Grand Coven's warnings to do it. Daciana is a very "I will do what I know must be done" kind of person, which does a lot for driving events both good and bad <3

Mortimer is the soul of the group and the duology's universal foil. He quite literally monitors and cares for the souls of the other three. He contains multitudes and is deeply understanding of other people's multitudes as well; his protectiveness and gentleness directly impact the end outcome. Mortimer also foils almost every single major character; he represents both someone's doomed villain and someone else's redeemed hero.

Vidar is the body of the group and the duology's antihero. He is a creature of indulgence, and indulge he does!! His hunger and consumption have enormous ramifications on the plot, especially leading into the second book. Vidar is also fundamentally selfish, cowardly, and mocks other people's feelings for a laugh. But still he takes the heaviest beating in defense of the other three, and consistently utilizes his advantages as a fey for their benefits.

Kadija is the heart of the group and the duology's protagonist. She can and will choose kindness every single time, even at great cost to herself, which shapes the entire overarching plot. Kadija is also the center of the conundrum and always was. She is the core of the story, the overlaid note in everyone else's arc, and she always was and always would be. Kadija's arc would have happened regardless of what the other three did or didn't do <3

Depending on who you ask, some people consider organic produce to be a scam because the scientific consensus on the nutritional quality of organic vs conventionally produced food is marginal, exaggerated, and/or nonsensically marketed. Whether by design to distract from the fact that organic =/= not treated by pesticides, studies show people care more about their personal consumption & health than environmental impact when choosing to purchase organic.

Generally, organic production is simply more costly due to incredibly numerous factors, which is partially reflected in the price. The crucial thing to understand is that organic certification is based on a series of rules for production which function more as regulations rather than a fuzzy warm pastoral social movement of harmony with nature. Also generally, organic pesticides/nutrient additions are exponentially less effective than conventional options so oftentimes conventional produce is significantly higher in quality AND has a smaller carbon footprint due less frequency of tractor/machine applications.

So basically, an organic certification tells you nothing about the quality of production or the produce itself. It *does* tell you something about what chemicals or practices *haven't* been used during production.

Some ag businesses are willing to jump through flaming hoops if it offers them better prices, but they're also willing to whistle and twiddle their thumbs if keeping the organic concept nebulous is more beneficial than being 100% transparent about what collective organic practices are because the nightmare scenario for a lot of organic farms would be the public deciding that current bar is too low because what they're currently doing is already pretty inconvenient to them in a lot of respects. After all, the collective benefit of organic production is a subjective assessment of a series of rules decided by the USDA and a new standard or even new type of federal certification could always develop if the public demands it.

Partially motivated by anticipation, recently some retailers now require farms to have certain private certifications on top of an organic cert and are dropping any supplier who doesn't, just so they can make a juicy marketing claim that ALL their farms are X, Y, and Z certified and a certain chain beloved for their hotdogs comes to mind... providing a convenient symbol on the label calculated for your millisecond glance over waves of packaging: you know these mixed salad greens are woke.

But one thing I gotta say in my personal experience with private certification groups is there's a certain uhhh carelessness to the fidelity of their claims, which is to say they're often a bit off the mark on their actual impact. It's hard to say what level of commitment these entities have imo but i guess I'll always be weary of private groups being the vehicle for social change. Intent = congruent, communication = questionable, impact = clumsy.

Also take me with a grain of salt bc I'm not providing sources on this post, but this is pretty much just my highly educated perspective on the whole organic produce deal which I have studied and worked in. In fact I'd encourage anyone to look into the claims I make because you (or I) might be surprised.

I should also finally disclaim that farmer's market scale production can be a bit of an exception here, but as far as the food supply chain goes, I'd consider them hobbyists rather than an actual contributing factor on the capital M Market. Any yearly profit over $2000 starts getting Legally Tax Annoying so some farmers actively stick to the smallest scale and are more free to prioritize quality. Some traditionally farmer's market scale farms and LLCs break through to DTC programs but to my knowledge it's an unreliable avenue since demand is incredibly unpredictable, plus they aren't always immune from competition from higher scale farms.

So, is organic a scam? Idk. Probably not if you care about specific chemical usage. I think it's evidence that economy of scale doesn't always prevent "better" farm practices, but in order to do so, industries may rely on some mild deception. It's up to you to decide the worth, but personally, me to you: buy what's cheaper or assess which option looks better. The sources often impact the quality more than the certs.

Oh and one last kicker: sometimes produce which is technically organic is sold as conventional if market strategy suits it (better price, market saturation, etc.).

P.S. Also always wash your produce. You don't know who's touched it since it got packed and put on display - but also don't panic over pesticide residue. Some fruits have a thing called bloom which can look like dried white residue but it's an effect of the hair-like non-smooth surface of wax which the fruit produces naturally. It's especially obvious on blueberries and grapes but apples have it too. Rest assured these get hella washed between the field and packing. But just play it safe and wash everything if you can. First of all, I love the ominous suit baddies and a new introduction for Erica Sinclair bc she honestly would be a child detective and rabble rouser! Also I love that Erica has heard enough about Lucas’s connection that lets him sneak into the movies that she goes to Steve when she feels unsafe! Tbh I feel like it’s a crime that we never got a scene of Lucas braving about his cool older friend who lets him go to movies for free and drives only for Erica to call Steve a loser but clearly note down that he’s a trusted adult ( let thé Sinclair siblings bond!! Let them be children and shit talk but also care for each other deeply! )Also truly such a joy seeing your impeccable sense of dramatic tension bc that scene sucked me right back in and left me excited about stranger things again . The blend of character work and plot has really gotten so good and it’s fun seeing how your style changed since the first installment!! Also belatedly, the age swap fic (another beloved marypsue AU that is always rotissering in my brain alongside body swap) with Nancy detectiving and a fun twist on the classic Hopper finding the government conspiracy beats of ST1.

I love Erica and I want her to have all of the screentime! All of the sibling relationships on Stranger Things are so interestingly set up and I just want more of all of them. All the time. Forever.

I feel like the setup in this AU allows for a little more cross-generational interaction in general than the show itself implies. That was one of the things I really liked about s3, the way it put together the Scoops Troop instead of just splitting everybody up into three groups based on age again. It worked really well in s1 because, obviously, they were riffing on three different genres aimed at the three different age categories, and also because none of the characters knew anything, including that the others were involved. The more everybody knows, though, the more you either have to come up with external obstacles to separate them out and not have them share what they know with the others, or you gotta play with and shake up that structure a little. (I'm having some fun with it with former heroes right now, and I hope you'll like how it turns out!)

It's funny that you should mention the change in style, because it's something I've been thinking about recently. Part of it is definitely that the first installment in this AU is canon divergent after all the canon setup and everything, so I was able to lean a lot more heavily on what I could assume the audience already knows. I liked that a lot, and I'd like to try to pull that stylised, storytelling-style voice back into it more. But the changes in the s1 and s2 fics have enough knock-on effects, and I'm also changing enough things in the plot, that I can't lean so much on what people already know about s3. (Although I'm definitely having fun using some of those expectations!) I want to make sure everything's set up well, clear, and makes sense, and I'd like to do a little more of that highly stylised stuff again. Hoping I can strike a balance there.
