#kc talks code

That Nash patreon bit was <3. Absolutely loved it. I can't wait for the others. I was wondering if you were still taking some coding ?'s. I was wanting to allow players when customizing a character, give them tattoos or piercings. I was wondering what's the best way to go about that?
omg thank you! i'm glad you enjoyed :)
so i'm not necessarily sure this is the best way, per say, but it is the way i was doing it before i switched over to the current system i'm using (which is art on cards for the player to pick)
i'd reccomend using cycling links! as a note, i have heard there is some issues with accessibility in terms of screen readers--so there are certainly other ways to go about it like using radio buttons or just simple links but i do enjoy cycle buttons. (plus I think--you can adjust for screenreaders by differentiating your text (i.e. making it bold/italicized/larger and explaining how the link functions when it is clicked--though I'm not 100% certain on this.)
for example if i wanted my player to choose what hair color they had my code would look something like this:
<strong><<cycle "$haircolor" autoselect>><<option "platinum blonde">><<option "strawberry blonde">><<option "dirty blonde">><<option "graying blonde">><<option "chestnut brown">><<option "cool brown">><<option "light brown">><<option "graying brown">><<option "deep red">><<option "copper colored">><<option "ginger">><<option "graying red">><<option "ink black">><<option "cool black">><<option "warm black">><<option "graying black">><<option "gray">><<update>><</cycle>></strong>
this creates a link that once you click on it--it'll change the variable present on screen for the player to click (essentially the word they're clicking on.)
I always but a <strong> in front of these links to make the text bold but that's not entirely necessary.
you want to start out your list with <<cycle "$nameofvariableyourusing" autoselect>> from there, you can list all your different options, proceeded by <<option>> and put in quotes. If you wanted to do something like tattoos (and this is just me spitballing so forgive me) but maybe something like:
<<cycle "$tattoo1" autoselect>><<option 'arm tattoo'>><<option 'leg tattoo'>><<option 'chest tattoo'>>
(you get the picture?)
lastly, you want to close your variables with <<update>> so it'll actually change when clicked.
after that, of course, you gotta close everything with a <</cycle>> and another </strong> if you decided to make your text bold.
if you wanted to do multiple tattoos, I'd say, just create multiple tattoo variables (eg: '$tattoo1' '$tattoo2' '$tattoo3' so on and so forth...) same works for piercings!
i hope this helps :)

our serials (kc) with a reader with glasses? :3
Reader who is always forgetting to wear their glasses, making CONSTANT typos in the server, or the characters catching them squinting. Just curious to how that would go ^~^'
V

At first, he assumes your typos are some kind of code. He spends an embarrassing amount of time trying to decipher the nonsense until you admit you just... forgot your glasses.
“You should be more careful. Words matter.” He says this like you’re committing war crimes every time you accidentally call him “Vurghilante.”
Eventually, he starts proofreading your messages. If you send something particularly chaotic, expect him to correct it with the same energy as a disappointed English teacher.
He absolutely notices when you’re squinting at something. If you resist putting your glasses on, he will silently place them on your face like you’re a stubborn child. No words. Just the weight of his judgment.
The one time you squint at him, he deadpans, “I’m not blurry.” But there’s a hint of amusement when you still refuse to wear your glasses.
Once, you mistyped his name so badly it resembled a rare plant species. He spent the next 24 hours sending you obscure botany facts as punishment.
Misaki

Oh, she thinks it’s hilarious. Your typos? Screenshot folder. Your squinting? Material for endless teasing. They calls you “Mole-ey” and won’t stop.
If you try to defend yourself, they just leans in uncomfortably close to your face like, “You sure you can see me, sweetheart? Or am I just a mysterious blur?”
Constantly quizzes you on random distant objects. "What does that sign say? No, no, don't squint. Use your powers."
Steals your glasses when she’s bored and wears them, claiming they're smarter now. He calls himself “Professor Misaki” while pushing them up the bridge of their nose.
If you lose your glasses, prepare for them to find the worst replacements. He once handed you pink heart-shaped sunglasses and insisted it was an upgrade.
If you squint at them, they wiggles his eyebrows and says, “Careful, if you keep looking at me like that, I might start thinking you have a crush.”
Angel

She immediately appoints herself your “Seeing Eye Babe.” If you squint for more than a second, she takes your hand and narrates the world around you like you’re in a dramatic audiobook.
When you make typos, she just rolls with them. Whatever weird word salad you send becomes canon. You once typed “I need a hug pls” as “I need a hog pls,” and now she periodically sends you piglet pictures.
If you’re squinting in her direction, she just tilts her head and teases, “Sweetheart, if you wanted to check me out, all you had to do was ask.”
If you lose your glasses, she will find them immediately. She has a sixth sense for misplaced items and is smug about it every time.
When she catches you struggling, she pulls your glasses from your bag and slides them onto your face with a fond smile. “I like your eyes better when you aren’t torturing them.”
She once bedazzled your glasses case without telling you. You open your bag and suddenly it’s glitter city. “Now you’ll never lose them again,” she winks.
Ronin

Oh, he lives for your mistakes. Every typo is ammo for his endless mockery. He purposefully misreads them to make things worse.
“What do you mean, 'I’d like to grab a dork'? Bold move. Keep talking.”
If you squint at him, he just smirks and leans in too close. “Better? Or do you need me even closer, baby?”
Constantly calls you “Blind Bat,” but somehow it sounds weirdly affectionate. Like you’re his favorite helpless disaster.
If you lose your glasses, he will absolutely hold them hostage until you grovel for them back. And, oh, he will make you grovel.
When he sees you straining at your screen, he dramatically sighs and tugs you onto his lap. “If you won’t fix your eyesight, I guess I’ll just have to keep you close so you don’t wander off and die.”
Despite all the teasing, he memorizes where you usually leave your glasses. He never admits it, but when you panic because you can’t find them, he always knows exactly where to look.

Don’t worry WIR fandom, I got your back ( drop this ugly man into the cozy cafe game )
I'm trying to replicate the game art style as closely as possible. It might not be perfect, but I'm trying my best now.
A little bit of the concept about if Turbo is in Villains cursed cafe. Even though he's the villain that's actually already in the " modern " world, imagining him living among the actual humans is still pretty funny. Maybe he's got a little handicap from the fact that he's knowing one or two things about coding and technology ( I guess )
Here's the little doodle, idea dump thing :
Honestly, while I'm playing this game. I keep wondering if it's gonna have any updates in the future or not.. like, characters update something like that. Let's hope it has then, haha. But honestly, there's probably a higher percent that this is all the game has for us.. it's a good game tho! I love it sm. Very funny and cozy :3 I don't mind if this is all the game has.
However, if there's really a character update, I'm pretty sure Turbo is not a first choice, or if he's really gonna be in the game. It's gonna be a King candy version for sure ( He's more recognizable outside of the fandom anyway )
Talking about the KC version, I might be drawing him a little bit if I'm having a time<33 He does be very nice in a modern outfit.

TSAMS Theory: Solar Flare wasn't real
So, here's the thing. Solar Flare's final exchange with Eclipse, when they're waiting to die, has this very painful and bittersweet part in it.
Solar Flare: You are not a good man. You are not a good person in any regard. But-- you did care. Even if you could never show it. You are just like him. Eclipse: Who? Solar Flare: The first Moon.
Oof oof ouch my heart. The art folks did with Eclipse having Moon's hat here was *chef's kiss*
But, wait. Hold on.
How the fuck would Solar Flare know anything about Old Moon?!
Consider the timeline. Eclipse builds Solar Flare, steals his body. Approximately 5min later Sun shows up to kill him. Eclipse gets away, tricks Sun into destroying Moon's magic circle. With no magic to find a solution to the looming threat of being trapped inside his own head, Moon makes the decision to reset himself to split off KC, and his memories are wiped in the process.
Solar Flare met Moon a grand total of once, for about five minutes, to sabatogue Eclipse (Eclipse's NEW BODY?!). He otherwise didn't talk to anyone at all. I actually don't think he ever met Kill Code, even, which opens a whole other can of worms like "Was Kill Code even aware Solar Flare existed? Did he forget he told Eclipse to make them?"
So here's my theory: The Solar Flare that Eclipse meets when he goes into the mindscape, the one that's keeping him locked in a dying frame and reads him completely to filth with terrifying accuracy? That's not Solar Flare. Solar Flare is gone, deleted.
The person that Eclipse interacts with is himself. His own subconscious, which knows every little insecurity and doubt he tries to repress. Who knows his past, the things that fuel him, the things he's ignored or discarded.
It's not a completely baseless guess. Sun suffers from stress-related hallucinations, mostly from his guilt regarding Bloodmoon, but about others as well. And later on, with the rebuilt Eclipse, he straight hallucinates himself to talk to shortly before Lunar blows him tae fuck. The rebuilt Eclipse is post-star, but he's not too far removed from the person who was dying in a bunker orbiting the sun.
And... isn't that tragic to consider? 'Solar Flare' prevents Eclipse from uploading himself into a new body. He prevents him from escaping this hell he's put himself through. And if that 'Solar Flare' is really Eclipse...
...then he's holding himself back. He knows, on a not very deep level, that he's done. He won but it's a hollow victory, because the person who's attention he craved, his self-proclaimed rival, is gone. The person who's replaced him isn't interested in starting a new rivalry. Eclipse literally doesn't know what to do with himself-- he has no goals, no other ambitions. Full Megamind 'I didn't really think I'd get this far" going on here.
And the star is killing him. He knows it's killing him, and he makes an effort to prevent that... but what good will it do to keep living? The star was only ever a means to an end, a motivating McGuffin to keep Moon's attention. Eclipse wasn't meant to win, and he knows it.
'Solar Flare' is just a mask, a plausible external individual to voice the thoughts that Eclipse is trying to ignore, and a fabricated companion because Eclipse has never been completely alone like this.
Really is a bit pathetic, isn't it?
#tsams#the sun and moon show#i had to look it up and see if SF ever met Moon cos i thought he hadn't#ive been batting this around for a while in the back of my head#but i dont write SF so i've never really had a need for it

I still believe the craziest form of computer program storage format from the 1980s is the cassette tape. Logical I get it but to store entire programs on little tape (that I only remember using to play music) is just crazy to me. Idk
Agreed, cassette tape for data storage was really clever. The concept had its heyday was the 1970s in a wide variety of encoding schemes for different computer platforms. It did persist into the 80s, mostly in Europe, while the US switched to floppy disks as soon as they were available for systems. The majority of my Ohio Scientific software is on cassette.

Talking with UK vs. US Commodore 64 users in particular will highlight the disparity in which storage mediums that were commonplace. I've got a few pieces of software on tape for mainly the VIC-20, but I rarely bother to use it, because it's slow and annoying. To be fair, Commodore's implementation of data storage on tape is pretty rock solid relative to the competition. It's considered more reliable than other company's but Chuck Peddle's implementation of the cassette routines are considered quite enigmatic to this day. He didn't document it super well, so CBM kept reusing his old code from the PET all the way through the end of the C128's development 7 years later because they didn't want to break any backward compatibility.
The big thing that really made alot of homebrewers and kit computer owners cozy up to the idea was the introduction of the Kansas City Standard from 1976. The idea of getting away from delicate and slow paper tape, and moving towards an inexpensive, portable, and more durable storage medium was quite enticing. Floppy disk drives and interfaces were expensive at the time, so something more accessible like off the shelf audio tapes made sense.
I've linked two places you can read about it from Byte Magazine's February 1976 issue below (check the attribution links).
You might recognize a familiar name present...
There are a few ways to encode binary data on tape designed to handle analog audio, but the KCS approach is to have 1's be 8 cycles of 2400Hz tone, and 0's be 4 cycles of 1200Hz tone. I say cycles, because while 300 baud is the initial specification, there is also a 1200 baud specification available, so the duration of marks vs spaces (another way of saying 1's and 0's), is variable based on that baud rate. Many S-100 computers implemented it, as do a few contemporary proprietary designs.
The big 3 microcomputers of 1977 that revolutionized the industry (Apple II, Commodore PET 2001, and Tandy TRS-80 Model I) each have their own cassette interface implementation. It kept costs down, and it was easy to implement, all things considered. The Apple II and TRS-80 use off-the-shelf cassette deck connections like many other machines, whereas the original variant of the PET had an integrated cassette. Commodore later used external cassette decks with a proprietary connector, whereas many other companies abandoned tape before too long. Hell, even the original IBM PC has a cassette port, not that anybody bothered to use that. Each one used a different encoding format to store their data, rather than KCS.
Here's a sample of what an OSI-formatted tape sounds like.
And here's a Commodore formatted tape, specifically one with VIC-20 programs on it.
I won't subject you to the whole program, or we'd be here all day. The initial single tone that starts the segment is called the "leader", I've truncated it for the sake of your ears, as well as recorded them kinda quietly. I don't have any other tape formats on hand to demonstrate, but I think you get the idea.
You can do alot better than storing programs on tape, but you can also do alot worse -- it beats having to type in a program every time from scratch.

Life with Turbo on the Internet (x reader head canons)
A/N: First ever fanfic(if this counts???) I tried to keep it in character lmk how I did.... lots of "probably"s in this one. I'm very unsure.
Genre: (Wreck it ralph) Turbo x reader headcannons, fluff and shenanigans! (Hehe that rhymed!)
Summery: He totally lived guys. He survived and escaped to the Internet guys. He's alive and well and living in a shitty website i promise guys (hcs of what I think living on the internet with post-movie turbo/kc would be like) based on this post I made.
You guys live in a website Turbo made with his trial-and-error-achieved coding skills… so its kinda shitty and cluttered. But its cosy and its yours so its fine. It'll probably improve the more Turbo improves his skills, anyhow.
As you'd assume, you'll be spending alot of time on racing related websites and games. He probably got himself banned from a couple games either by messing with the code to make himself better or for harassing players. He'll to try to bypass the bans and sometimes he succeeds! And gets you both banned again because he said a swear word in a kids game.
Of course he will go with you to places pertaining to your interests, whatever that may be. He might be less enthusiastic about it than his precious car games but he'll still go with you because he likes hanging out with you❤ he almost gets you banned again though
You need to stop him please
He's definitely an Internet troll. Would purposefully start or stirr drama on forums he doesn't like using throwaway accounts.
Lots of marathoning various games and movies/shows. Someone on tumblr said that he probably watches car crash compilations and like. Yeah. He'd binge watch the shit out of car crash videos and nascar fails. (I hc that he would enjoy Its Always Sunny but for the wrong reason.)
Lay next to him in a bundle of blankets and pillows use him as a pillow he is warm and squishy and soft and touch starved eating snacks and watching "8 most disturbing things caught on dashcam footage" on YouTube. He's probably the type to talk during movies and videos, there are so meny opinions in his little body and he will not shut up. Though is a bit more quiet when sleepy.
yeah ofc you guys would play alot of competitive games together, both racing games and other. He passes out after trying too hard on project diva.
Turbo messed with the computer avatar... things idk what they are called. Trips em up, makes peoples websites crash, etc. Until one of the ad blockers punch him. Then he stopped.
You guys are probably on familiar terms with Knowsmore. Probably one of the first people you and Turbo spoke to when you first entered the Internet, and still speak to since he helps you to get around. Turbo probably would find him annoying, though.
Same with Spamley. Turbo probably hangs around the darknet because of course he would... He probably would try the "Make money playing video games" spiel, success varies. Spamley, despite being a boyfailure, still knows his way around the darknet (barely like he did make that virus guy throw him across the room) Would also find spamley annoying but maybe less so.
Speaking of the darknet, he would bring you along whenever he'd go. he'd hold your hand or arm to make sure he doesn't lose you. Of course he does a myriad of illicit activities. Learning more about programming and hacking, plotting revenge, probably released a couple viruses in websites thatve wronged him, and- 🤢 and🤢 film piracy 🤮 /j
Idk if he'd try to take over another game or if he'd try to find fame another way... I'm still mulling over it tbh.
The artist Blackthewolf17 who drew a picture of turbo and y/n sitting on a bench listening to Spotify. Just think about it.
Use one of those relationship compatibility websites. Results depend whats funnier to you ;)
Regardless of wether you fled with him from Litwak's arcade or met him in the online world, if your feeling up to it, spend the rest of eternity bouncing around the interwebs with him until entropy takes you both to oblivion. It might be fun...
Thanks for reading! ^.^ hope you enjoyed!

ANOTHER RAMBLE
It's 1am, but I can't get this out of my head so I'm going to write about it.
The topic of today's ramble: Emotions!!!
Okay. So you all remember how Moon had stated that he locked all of his emotions in like this mental vault? I don't think that's entirely true. Here me out here.
Moon did lock away his emotions. Back when him and Sun were still connected he locked them away. He then waited so long to open the vault again that he is now unable to do so. But. . Moon still expresses emotions. He may not be good at expressing them, but he expresses them none the less. What I believe is that Moon has a sort of remade version of his emotions. The ones he locked away behind the vault were sort of like the base of the emotions. Locking them away, however, is sort of like removing a chunk of himself. Or his code. This would basically cause his systems to start trying to fix or replace that chunk. But they didn't have that base to go off of so it just made a sort of makeshift version. Think of it like drawing a picture from memory. You get the general idea of the picture and you know what it's supposed to be, but some parts are wrong or missing. Overall it's close, but not correct. Moon's systems were trying to recreate those emotions from memory. So they are similar to the original, but not exact. That's why he feels these emotions, but aren't good with them or know how to express them properly.
Putting emotions on a scale of 1 to 10. Moon feels his emotions at around a 3 or 4. At most a 5 if they're strong, but not much higher than that.
Moving on to the next part. Eclipse. I know I talked about him last time. He's my favorite. Sue me.
As I mentioned earlier, Moon locked those emotions away before him and Sun separated. Meaning he locked them away before him and Eclipse seperated. Logically that would mean Eclipse has that same kind of vault. When they separated, it came with him. But here's where Eclipse and Moon differ. You'd think Eclipse would have a more wide range of emotions even with his systems rebuilding them, but that's not the case. He's almost always angry. No matter the situation good, bad, small, big, he's always mad. At least to some extent. And I believe that has to do with him being mostly kill code. It was said in recent videos that Eclipses are made of part Sun and part Moon, but have way more Moon than they do Sun. This Moon part, obviously, is the kill code. It has been stated many times that the kill code reacts to the presence of anger. So anger=active. Eclipse is at the very least 90% of this kill code. Sun even said that Eclipse and KC are basically the same person. The would end up altering how his systems rebuilt his emotions. His code wasn't including all emotions, the only one it really cared about was anger since that's what kept it going. Moon had the rest of his code to help build his emotions back up. Eclipse only has one section dedicated to one emotion. So his systems have spent all of this time building up that one emotion since it was the only one that mattered. He can feel the other emotions as well, but they aren't very strong. His anger will still peek through even when he's happy. I believe the main reason he is able to feel much besides anger is because of that Sun portion that makes him up. But there's not a lot of it. If you've noticed, when Eclipse isn't angry he's just sort of blank. He's kind of deadpan and monotone. He feels these different emotions, but they are pretty weak.
Putting Eclipse's emotions on a scale of 1 to 10. His base is more so around a 1 to 2. Maybe a 3. His anger; however, is much higher towards the top of that scale ranging from 7 to 10 usually.

Turbo, Internalized Glitchphobia, and how King Candy is a clever Parallel to Vanellope's arc
So KC is so hateful and derogatory of Vanellope's Glitch in a way that feels beyond simply keeping power and control of the kingdom. There is so much distain in his voice for Vanellope both in public and private. He is obviously paranoid of returning to a life without his rule, but I think it goes deeper. He's also terrified of returning to a life without a game. Returning to a life as a glitched homeless outcast. Remember Turbo was to some degree homeless before 1997, almost 10 years of hiding and game hopping. He's still a power hungry asshole (and I love him for that) so this isn't justification but hear me out (cause angst for angsts sake is my jam)
I love giving him this internalized hatred of glitches because he was one before Sugar Rush. After the crash in Roadblasters, the console crashed and his code was probably damaged. Without his game nothing could repair the code. He was stuck as a glitch and he attacks Vanellope ruthlessly for it as an ego defense. It's almost a subconscious response to her and a reassurance that he's in control and isn't like that anymore. It was possible at one point he was in the same position as her: Alone and worthless, long ago he too had nowhere to go and was a glitch hated and scorned by those around him, becoming nothing but a fear mongering story and a freak to those who should respect him (So the obvious way to heal from this is to make another person suffer the same fate in order to feel the satisfaction of being in control)
Attacking her and labeling her Glitch is his internalized hatred of the weakness that he is running from every day he masks as KC, gaining more and more gratification and ownership of a game he is not apart of. He made his move to usurp the throne on day one and is so psychotic and proud that he has fallen for his own ruse. The King Candy character exists and is just as real as the "Turbo' character. Turbo ended up entranced by his perfect little sandbox world. He had a home and a life again. He had access to whatever he wanted and players who would love him. His subjects loved him and he was free to bask in that attention. It was an echo chamber of comfort and instant appreciation. He could fully accept the narrative he constructed if only SHE didn't exist. But her presence is forever a stain to his new home and a threat to his ego. She will always be there to remind him that he stole this game and without it he has nothing. That the life he has, although still entitled to it, is fake. Her glitching was always a reminder of the decade he spent just like her.
People love to connect Turbo and Ralph, talking about what happens if you grow too selfish in your desires for self respect and how rejecting your role in the world can be disastrous for everyone. I love the parallels with Turbo as the ultimate extension of Ralph's negative qualities. In the movie it also directly connects Ralph and Vanellope with themes of belonging and rejection from society. But what if these thematic Parallels became a triangle?? King Candy is living a lie and claiming an identity that is not his own and doing it with glee. He relishes in the escapism of being the King. He is technically doing the opposite of Vanellope, fully denouncing his actual self and embracing a self created fake persona in a ploy for power instead of accepting his place and being content as Turbo. But once "Turbo" became an outcasted glitch (totally from his own actions but still) from the crash, that "character" wasn't popular anymore he needed to become something else. With all that access to the code someone is bound to grow nihilistic or existential with who they are. He changed every bit and strand of his code just to become popular. But Vanellope never abandoned her true self. Through all the persecution, loneliness and maybe even jealously, she accepted her state as a glitch. Even when becoming royalty she wasn't about to change herself for others. Turbo changed everything about himself in order to become Royalty Vanellope gave up royalty to be herself.

Theories and/or scenarios for killcode? Im hungry for it 👀

HAJAHAJSHISHWJD IM!!!! SO GLAD YOU ASKED bc honestly I had a period of time where I put a lottt of thought into KC for the purpose of blending him into my fix-it au!!! I'm gunna treat these asks as one bc tbh I'm just bad at distinguishing the two BSJABDJD
Ahem ahem. adjusts tie. I'm gunna start off with lil one-off headcanons and then I'm gunna delve into deeper thoughts and analysis.
I think the reason KC talks with such a deep, slow drawl is due to the fact that he was never meant to be a person + he specifically formed through being pushed down over and over. Due to the fact he was never meant to speak or think or exist, his vocal processing is slower and harder to force out compared to others who were actually programmed with it.
I've never drawn KC like this bc I've never properly put it to paper, but I think KC's early lava theming was everything. I love to imagine early KC with a red-orange-yellow-black color scheme, but as he changes, he quite literally "cools down", his color palette turning into an obsidian purple-grey-black scheme instead.
Tbhhh I used to be an it/its KC truther but I realized he's probably not the type to own the "I'm an object, a force of nature" vibe. I moved my it/its tsams truthing to Solar Flare <3
Okay I'm gunna go theory/analysis mode so I'm gunna put the rest under a cut bc I know it's gunna get long LOL
Ahem. Ahem. I have broken down how the kill code manifests in all the characters who have it and what that means for them.
I'm, of course, going to focus on KC! However, it's important going forward to note the 3 major ways I've noted the kill code manifests: through the need for death, the need for injury, and the need for disorder. There is more nuance, but that's how I've mostly boiled it down! Then, beyond that, these urges can either be tamed, quelled, or ignored.
KC is an example of the need for disorder, but not death or injury! He's said before that he doesn't desire the bloodshed, merely "the thrill." (Sources here and here) This also applies to why he treats people like pawns rather than people! He manipulates them to get the thrill of control, of being intimidating enough to make people listen rather than fight back.
However, notably, KC is also an example of someone with ignorable code urges. So ignorable, in fact, that he just... stops. He literally just decides to stop being evil! Not even Moon could do that, who is the only other person with ignorable urges. Moon could ignore them, yes, but it took monumental amounts of effort and he was very prone to caving if something went slightly wrong.
(I'm... not including Eclipse in this because he is a thorn in my side the moment he comes into the picture with the kill code. He's dubious as fuck and if I touch on that, this post won't be about KC anymore 😭)
This detail has always deeply fascinated me because... why? Why is it that those derived from him can be so powerless to the code, while he himself was able to walk away so easily? Now admittedly I never actually came up with a fully-baked reason when I first came up with all this, however! These are my impromptu theories from least to most plausible:
Because so many people stemmed from him, it sort of "chipped away" at certain parts of the code that left him as a technically incomplete version of the code. [Iffy bc isn't part of the kill code that it would "regrow" when taken apart?]
Because he is the kill code, rather than someone living with it. It could potentially be that being the direct source has a different effect than having it woven into you. [Maybe, but then it'd beg the question of why "direct source" vs "added-in" makes such a difference. Could potentially explain why Eclipse is also not as violent bc he's also directly the code split off?]
Because his ass didn't change!!! That this was another facet of his manipulation craving!!! We never saw him after his redemption so do we really know if he wasn't doing kind things with the intend to get more praise, more power, more respect? His intent matters still, just because he was feeding the poor doesn't mean he wasn't smug that so many humans were dependent on him. [This is honestly what I lean for, I just didn't know how to put it into words until now LMAO]
When I used to subscribe to more dadcode headcanons, I used to wonder of he'd endure shitty humans whispering behind his back about how scary he looks, how it's suspicious, but they wouldn't actually know anything. He'd just feel scared because they're skirting too close to the truth.
Now though? I think he'd find that to be the perfect opportunity to lean into their fear, to do something right then and there that'll make them shriek and flinch back. Like. I genuinely don't know why he'd be able to just, flip on a dime! I think he worked a soup kitchen to have people to control and be respected. I think he made friends so he could have a disposal of people to do what he wants. I think he'd get a thrill out of all the humans around him being intimidated by his presence—his red eyes, his claws, his toothy smile.
That idea is also a very big basis of KC in my previously mentioned fix-it au!! Because when he reunites with Bloodmoon, it's not a sweet father-son moment. KC, subconsciously, still views Bloodmoon as the perfect and most loyal tool! So, he immediately falls back into promises of comfort and glory through telling them "stop eating. look at me, i've ignored my code this long and been fine, no? your hunger will go away eventually. the pain will go away. stop eating."
I just. augrhegrhegr. I honestly adore KC's potential he's so fascinating to me. what's wrong with him!!!!!!
#asks#anon#THANK YOU FOR THIS ANON I OWE YOU MY LIFE.#these types of questions are my favorite bc i find them so easy to answer and bc i'm autistic and love to ramble LMAO#i swearrrr i have more KC headcanons but none that i rememberrrrr..... oh well :P#i hope this was entertaining to u tho HSJSHDJD i. never talk abt KC just cuz he's not a top 5 blorbo to me#but like. i have thought about him so much. he's so interesting 2 me 🙏#sun and moon show#the sun and moon show#tsams#sams#tsams killcode#sams killcode#killcode#xero thoughts and rambles

I'm losing my mind right now because I can't remember when it was said or in what video, but wasn't it stated at some point that KC was supposed to be a security code that sort of just. Started killing people
I remember the creator saying something about that, but I don't remember when or who exactly he was talking to

....What did Puppet mean though when she was saying that Eclipse is like Solar?
I mean yeah, Ruin put some of Solar's code in his system. I still think he did the same using KC's.
Still I think it would scare Eclipse to find out he's more of a clone of Solar than just being Eclipse. Imagine waking up and suddenly someone else is you and they're treating him like he's the brother and you're the monster. It's understandable why Eclipse doesn't want to be called Solar.
A replacement of a replacement....
But like I said: Solar is just Eclipse if he was good...he had his body and everything.
But hey, if Roxanne and Eclipse don't work out maybe Ruin will have a shot with Eclipse after all.
LISTEN; I CAN'T HELP BUT STILL BE PARANOID OF ROXANNE. It's just weird how she talked to him after only being there for barely a month?? I guess?? And keeps 'threatening' to kill him. It's like how I was with Ballora all over again almost thinking she was the murderer.
It's also just kinda weird how Ruin went from "THESE BULLETS CAN'T HARM ME I'M TOO FAST" to "Can somebody help this poor old man climb down a hole?"
I hope we get to see Ruin rage at Afton or some other villain trying to hurt his new family or friends. I mean that's pretty much what happened at this point isn't it? He made a deal with Puppet and wants to protect them.

I think I’m starting to realize that Nexus may be one of the most misunderstood characters in the show.
Am I a fan of Nexus? No, not really. I find him funny to watch because, besides EAPS Monty, he says the most out of pocket shit. Never know what to expect when he opens his mouth. But besides that, I just can’t find any interest in him.
That being said, I recently have been doing a deep dive of his character to prove a theory I had, which turned out to be partially canon in today’s episode. I didn’t think Nexus had the Ruin virus, I don’t think he ever had it. After watching one of the introductory episodes in EAPS, I started to theorize that Nexus became what he is purely because he is a Moon. I still think this is true, and was simply sped up by the harvesting of dark star power.
This might be a long post, so strap in.
So. Nexus. I don’t feel dramatic in saying he’s possibly one of the most hated TSAMS characters, or at least most of the fandom’s least favorite. A good bit of the fandom believed he was infected by the Ruin virus, or was just a victim of terrible story writing, because it just didn’t seem possible for him to go this far. Sure, he was deeply traumatized by Solar’s death on top of many other things, but that didn’t seem like it would turn him completely evil. I was also one of the people who believed the Infection theory, as shown by my many posts during Nexus’ corruption arc.
Funnily enough, it was Eclipse of all characters that changed my view of Nexus and who he is. During “Eclipse and Puppet meet the NEW SUN”, Eclipse makes a very big point in relating himself back to the original Moon. It’s something I remembered from Eclipse’s lore, but had never really sat down and thought over. I believe @/samoftheswamp had a post that I 100% agreed with. Eclipse has all the memories of the original Moon before the separation, but is only made up of the kill code and very small fragments of Moon coding-wise. Everything else about Eclipse in that regard was filled in by Sun. He then continued to tear apart his own coding to make Bloodmoon and Lunar. Despite all of this, due to his memories, Eclipse still very much considers himself to be the original Moon.
How does any of this relate to Nexus? Simple. The coding and memories. Despite Eclipse and Nexus being completely opposites in both of those things, Eclipse still falls in line with Moons far more than he does Suns. V4 Eclipse talks a lot about how much his old self, and even current self, acts so similar to Moons. Though he appears as a Sun, Eclipse is a Moon by emotional and psychological standards.
I would also like to point out that Solar specifically say the only reason he was different from most Eclipse’s was due to his Sun’s influence. Everything that happened to Eclipse also happened to Solar up until his Sun decided to try and help him. That means that Solar also falls under the Moon category.
Now that we’ve established who counts as a Moon, let’s get into why this is important. One thing every single Moon has had in common so far is their villain arc. Moon has had several mini ones, mostly influenced by other people. Eclipse was a villain up until very recently. Solar was almost a villain until his Sun stepped in. Killcode was a villain until his change of heart. Bloodmoon was just, a villain. Hell, even Cringe Dimension Moon went evil. And now we have Nexus.
Am I saying all Moons are destined to become villains? Yes, but no. I think all Moons have a possibility of becoming a villain, and it is their choice to be one or not. Every Moon we meet tends to go through some sort of catastrophic event that leads them to this choice. OG Moon was built with a kill code. Eclipse, Solar, KC, and Bloodmoon all were a piece of that kill code in some way, on top of other trauma in some cases. Nexus never had the kill code, but he’s been through several different instances of trauma. He literally woke up to the world under Eclipse’s rule. He also had to witness the death of someone he considered a brother in his very own arms. All of these characters have had an instance where they were able to choose between being good or evil. Solar shows that Eclipse didn’t have to be evil, his coding wasn’t fully controlling his actions. He chose to be a villain. Killcode was evil by design, but chose to become good, whereas Bloodmoon was accidentally created as a murderbot and chose to stay evil.
I really want to focus in on Eclipse and Solar real quick. A lot of these characters are antithesis of each other, but Eclipse and Solar are supposed to be the perfectly representation of “what if”. Solar’s whole existence shows that Eclipse chose the path he went on. Could he have been influenced by the kill code? Yeah, definitely. That’s totally an option. But Solar was just as corrupted by our understanding. The only reason he was able to become good was because someone stepped in. Someone treated him like a person and showed him a different way. Eclipse never had that, and ended up choosing the path of evil since that influence was never given to him.
All this to say, it is completely in character for Nexus to have chosen the path of a villain by his own volition. Moons have always been portrayed to have the ability to turn evil. It has never actually mattered what their coding is or what trauma they have been through, every Moon has had a moment where they have had to make a choice. Will they be a hero, or become the villain they were “destined” to be?
I do not think Nexus was of complete clear consciousness when making this decision. Not because of a virus or kill code, not even the dark star power he may have had a the time. It was simply his mental health. Eclipse and Solar are a perfect example of how mental health can completely change a character. Nexus’ entire life was made up of disaster after disaster, which he felt completely responsible for. When Solar died in his arms, it was his snapping point. He was standing on the edge, teetering between sanity and insanity. He felt as if his family abandoned him, on top of his already present self blame and hatred, and he fell. (It does not help that his family failed pretty spectacularly in helping him, but that is the reality of most situations like this. We as an audience were of sound mind when coming up with ways to help Nexus, but the Celestial family was not. They all had their own things to focus on, and couldn’t give Nexus the help he truly needed, despite them thinking they had. Hindsight is a bitch when it comes to scenarios such as this.)
I don’t like Nexus. The story they seem to be telling with his current character arc is the same as Bloodmoon’s, that some people just aren’t worth saving. I do not believe in this sentiment at all, and also believe Nexus could have been handled much better than he currently is. But I cannot deny that how he is acting is actually incredibly plausible. It is not out of character for him to have become what he currently is, even without outside influences. Him harvesting dark star power just happens to make his fall into insanity even more likely.
(I would like to add that none of what I just wrote was against the writers and/or actors in any way. This is a “forever” roleplay show made using VRChat on YouTube. I am in no way expecting greatness. I enjoy having Nexus and characters like EAPS Monty specifically because they play into my more out of pocket sense of humor. I would also like to reiterate that all of this is simply a theory, and how I view the characters of the show. You are completely allowed to have your own opinion! Also, if you read this whole post, thank you! Even if we don’t agree, I am grateful you put time into reading this extensive post.)

Solar Flare
Realized something profound while talking to @thedenofravenpuff that I want to share. But first for context- Since I'm not usually a person who posts fan theories. It's established that Ruin's copy of Eclipse was so perfect that V4 basically is identical to him. I think that the copy he made of Solar Flare was equally perfect and may have become a vessel for the spirit of the original. [Hence why he hints at Kc guiding his actions too.] And in turn; I think the reason why V2 Eclipse was able to have that direct salt talk with V4 is because he's haunting Solar Flare's body. They did share a frame after all. He might also be a digital ghost. Remaining code scraps that got copied along with Solar Flare's stuff. Since Eclipse was made from Kc, who had the ability to rebuild himself after being torn away from his host. But if V2 is just there watching it would explain why Solar Flare seems sassier now too. He's got all his prior experiences plus his own peanut gallery observing from behind his eyes and commenting. It was established that V2 couldn't move on to the afterlife and was reliving shit in some kind of halfway space while Solar Flare watched over his spirit. Remaking their body would be awfully tempting for a restless ghost. And personally, since there can't be two Eclipse's with the same code [Solar being revived from the dead] I feel like V4 IS V2's code and Solar is V1's code since he was also a first generation Eclipse. And that would cause the least personality changes. Also when Ruin built V3; it would have been fruitful to use V2's memories/personality mostly just because he was around for longer and got to actually have a body and some agency. ANYWAY. The thought that made me emotional- In his own way, Solar Flare was the best of Eclipse's AI creations. Because while he did betray his maker - [Just as Lunar and Bloodmoon before him.] He also didn't leave Eclipse to go to his death alone. And then faithfully, Patiently. Waited near him. Until it was finally time to move on.

Just wanted to say, as a straight guy, I'm also gonna be romancing scarlet by a proxy a step further than usual proxy (usual proxy is the fact the mc in an if is the mc, a step further proxy is the kc having to be female, which I'm...not.) I'm just gonna see the scenes and vicariously reconstruct in my head. Which is fine by me anyway.
I just always remember what a bi friend showed me when she wanted to romance a straight girl; she just edited the fucking code. In fact she's gonna do that for Koda. Not that she dislikes him being gay, just so that she can have that indulgent fantasy and then change it back.
So If it ever bothers me that much (it wont and if it did id have to deal eith the backstory dissonance of it being related but i would be able to manage), I'll just do what she did to indulge in the fantasy and then put it back. Hell, she changed a male only ro in another if to a fem ro. Lots of editing, but she did it. Of course, it was full release and some other complicated stuff if it wasn't and even when it was it was complex, but she changed the variables, adjusted pronoun use, and changed stuff minimally, but that was a LOT but of course, that's one of the rules of the internet. Make something, anything at all, and the people of the internet will do anything and everything with it, no exceptions. Infinite monkeys on infinite keyboards type deal.
… Please don’t do this. If Scarlett was meant to romance Male or NB MCs then she would be and the same goes for Koda too (and the later NB Only RO).
I get that Scarlett and Koda are only fictional characters, but I created them the exact way they should be… So, I guess I don’t appreciate people wanting to go in and change a core makeup of their character just so they can have an indulgent fantasy — as you put it — because that somehow makes it worse…
Now, I obviously can’t stop anyone from doing this, but I can request to not talk to me about it. I don’t want to hear it. I don’t want to see it. I don’t want anyone to send me questions about it. I don’t want any part of this in the slightest.
I truly don’t know what else to say on the matter without getting heated… So, I’ll just leave my response as is.
