Kokichi wants someone to talk to after the third trial. Not because he's super sad, but because he simply wants someone to talk too. At first, he talks to Kaito, but annoys him slightly too much while mentioning Maki - so Kaito tells him to go spend time with his crush instead. So Kokichi spends time with Shuichi. Just because he's there, of course.

Or~ Kokichi talks to Kaito and annoys him, so Kaito tells him to go annoy his crush. Kokichi goes to Shuichi instead

Kokichi was still wandering the halls, wondering what to do on such a… gloomy day. It was always boring the day after the executions, especially now that three people were gone instead of two. And now sneaking into Kiyo’s lab and reading some of his books wasn’t even as appealing as before. Sure, he could, but there was no risk of the paranoid anthropologist suddenly appearing and yelling to him about ‘how old these books are’ and how he needed to treat them with respect. Kokichi already knew that, and he wouldn’t do anything to damage the books. It was just fun to annoy Korekiyo.

But, as he peered down the next corridor, Kokichi smiled a little as he recognized badly gelled purple hair. Well, maybe it wasn't that badly gelled - but it was certainly over the top and unnecessary. Everyone would’ve known who the hair belonged to anyway; it wasn’t like anyone was going to mistake Kaito for him. Putting on a slightly more mischievous smile, Kokichi took a quick breath before skipping up to Kaito, greeting him with, “What’s up, spaceboy?”

“Spaceboy? You know I’m a real astronaut, right?” Kaito immediately looked down at Kokichi, eyes betraying rapidly forming annoyance.

“Aren’t you just a trainee?” Kokichi corrected, tilting his head to the side and bringing his hand to his mouth as pondered, “Besides, why won’t you hang out with me?”

“I have better people to hang out with,” as he said that, Kaito looked around - perhaps hoping one of those people would appear.

“Awww. c’mon,” Kokichi briefly tugged on Kaito’s loose coat sleeve, “I’m pretty interested! Right? Riiiight?”

He continued asking for a bit longer, before frowning and laughing, “Nishishishi, I don’t actually care what you think.”

“Geez, you’re not exactly selling yourself right now,” Kaito grumbelled, giving Kokichi a slight side-eye.

“Well, I want to talk to you.” Kokichi grinned, now moving slightly as Kaito started to move away, “If you don’t talk to me I’ll set Shuichi on you!”

Kokichi didn’t know why he would bring up Shuichi, but he thanked… something or other, that Kaito wasn’t staring at him. Sure, Kokichi was fairly certain no-one could tell that he liked the detective… but still. Kokichi was hyper aware of the blush, however slight. Or the way his breath hitched slightly when Shuichi would enter the room, or when Shuichi would look at him a certain way. That feeling of butterflies when Shuichi paid attention to him, and that crave for more.

But still, it could be pretty fun to talk to other people. Even if they were idiots. Blinking, Kokichi realised he had no idea what Kaito had just said, but opted to laugh slightly and shake his head, “Booring! Now let’s talk about something fun, what about Maki-roll?”

“Hey, don’t call her that,” but Kokichi recognized the blush that suddenly appeared on Kaito’s cheeks (not from himself, of course.)

“Why not, you call her that.”

“Yeah- but that’s cause… that’s cause,” Kaito scowled, “It’s none of your business, Kokichi.” “Awww, does someone have a crush?”

“Shut up!”

“Nee-heehee, are you embarrassed Kaito? There’s no need to be ashamed of having feelings, y’know.”

“I do not need lessons on feelings from you.”

“Really, but I’m great at feelings!”

“Well I don’t have a crush on Maki-roll, ok.” Kaito looked away again, his face this time becoming even more red. Kokichi leaned in slightly, but before he could say anything, Kaito spoke, “Besides, you can’t make fun of me for having feelings. You probably have them too.”

“A crush?? Moi?” Kokichi put his hand on his heart, “I’m the supreme leader of evil, remember? I don’t need feelings.”

“You totally like someone.”

Internally, there was some small grain of panic in Kokichi - and a few butterflies briefly flapped as his mind thought of Shuichi, but instead he laughed, “Don’t be stupid Kaito. I’m pretty irresistible, y’know. I’d have asked that person out by now.”

“Sure,” Kaito looked at Kokichi sceptically for a few seconds, “Go bother your crush.”

“So eager to get rid of me. Well, tell Maki-roll I said hi! And that I love her!”

Not bothering to give a response, Kaito began to walk off (into the direction of Miss Ultimate Assassin’s Lab, actually). Waving while smiling brightly, Kokichi watched as Kaito quickly walked away until he was completely out of sight. Letting himself deflate slightly, Kokichi stuck his hands in his pockets, briefly drawing his face together in a bored expression. So many of the people who were fun to annoy were gone, or had already been annoyed. Or might actually kill him (thinking of you, violent sushi roll).

Maybe it did just leave Shuichi… not that Kaito suggesting he hang out with his crush was what made him think of the detective. It was simply because he was a fun, and very interesting person to be around - and that was what Kokichi wanted in a partner  person he was going to hang out with. Whatever it was that made him blush when he was around Shuichi, that wasn’t a crush. It was a minor, but welcome, unexpected occurrence. Who ever thought that multiple people would be able to find love in a killing game?

A new, and slightly more genuine, smile appeared on his face, and Kokichi began to skip towards the detective's room - intent on bothering him. But it turned out, he didn’t even need to get to the dormitory. Sitting under a tree, looking slightly emo, was Shuichi. His student monopod currently in his hand, while he was casually flicking between slides. Well, as Kokichi stared - it wasn’t just any slide. It was Angie’s, and the one that gave small titbits of information about her. Kokichi knew that sight well, even if it wasn't for the Ultimate Artist in particular.

Briefly, Kokichi looked down and up at himself before running a hand through his hair and grinning. Taking one more deep breath, he felt confident that his blush was showing. He didn’t even need to fake a smile as he ran up, a large grin and sparkle in his eyes naturally appearing.

“Shuichi!!”

“Kokichi, what are you doing here?” Shuichi looked slightly startled as he raised his gaze, but there was something softer in his eyes - and he instinctively moved up, inviting Kokichi to join him on the bench. Never one to miss an opportunity, Kokichi immediately sat down as well, shuffling as he got as close as he could to Shuichi without being too weird about it.

“I…” Kokichi drew it out, before gently poking Shuichi in the heart, “Wanted to talk to you.”

“To me?” Shuichi echoed, looking slightly confused, “Why?”

“Oh, I just wanted to recruit you to my evil organisation is all,” He said airly, “And Kaito wouldn’t shut up about you.”

“He was talking about me, to you?”

“Suuure.” Kokichi tried not to let his nervousness show. What if Shuichi asked Kaito about it later? “Or maybe that was just a lie! I’m made of seventy percent lies, y’know.”

“Not seventy percent water?”

“Nope! The only liquid I need is coffee and Panta!”

“Liquids.”

“Huh?”

Shuichi gave him a smile, “Liquids, plural. You named two.”

“Nishishishi, Shuichi is paying that much attention to me?” Kokichi leaned in again, almost under Shuichi - staring up with wide, almost vulnerable, eyes.

“Well, we’re having a conversation…” Shuichi trailed off awkwardly, looking down instinctively - but instead making eye contact with Kokichi. He grinned up at Shuichi, and wiggled slightly closer. There was a second as his breath hitched, before Kokichi took the plunge. Keeping the same carefree smile, Kokichi gently put his head down on Shuichi’s lap - smiling.

“Kokichi, what- what are you doing?” Shuichi’s voice had gotten slightly higher, in embarrassment. But as Kokichi stared, he could see something he hadn’t seen much before. Hints of rosy blush that wasn’t just Shuichi being flustered.

“I’m sleeeeepy,” Kokichi said, letting his voice trail off, “And you’re comfy.”

“Can- can you lean somewhere else?” There was a rising, if slightly awkward tone, in Shuichi’s voice, and Kokichi immediately wriggled off. Thinking for a second, he leaned his head on Shuichi’s shoulder instead, relaxing immediately. His mouth slightly squished, he asked, “This okay for you?”

“Ah. Um-” Shuichi swallowed slightly, and Kokichi could still see the blush on Shuichi’s face. And then he felt Shuichi gently nod, “Um, sure.”

“Awwww, thanks Shu.”

“You’re welcome, it’s,” Kokichi could feel the smile come onto Shuichi’s face as he said it, however faint, “It’s no problem.”

-oh, shuichi and rantaro’s dynamic is GREAT. shuichi pulls kaede aside to ask if she thinks an ultimate talent is “really something you can forget” and iirc rantaro says he thinks shuichi is the most suspicious person in his FTEs - they both clearly suspect the other of being the ringleader and it’s fantastic. especially since their shared fondness for kaede makes them interact more than they’d probably like.

-we meet again, manhole gonta cg, we meet again. you have not gotten any prettier.

-kokichi’s first instinct when faced with a big hollow place is to yodel, and honestly same. echos r fun okay!!

-rantaro gets so much snarkier upon rewatch - you realize how much of his dialogue is just taking the piss. him saying “oh, how considerate” when they find the exit sign still makes me giggle.

-kaito thinking kaede is the COOLEST WOMAN ON EARTH and kaede thinking he’s sooo lame is such an underrated dynamic. “gimme a hug!” “no 💖” lives in my head rent free.

-kokichi’s speech after the death road of despair is what made me sit up and take interest in him and in kaede as characters and it still holds up so good hpsuhag,,,,i don’t have a ton of bigbrain thoughts about it but please know i am thinking about high empathy/low compassion kokichi and low empathy/high compassion kaede every single day. autistic queens.

-kokichi literally just says they need to find another way out and rantaro’s immediately like “murder?? you want to do a murder, you little gremlin????” then tenko freaks out, kokichi tells her to chill, and she threatens to smash his head into the ground!? it seems to me that the writers had a set dynamic between kokichi and the rest of the group, but forgot that by this point in the story they haven’t written anything to justify it - even with rantaro’s paranoia and tenko’s anger issues, this is excessive. HILARIOUSLY, this makes the scene read as his fucking jonker origin story. tenko, you fool, you should’ve taken the bubblegum...! look what you’ve gotten us all into...!

-the dorm rooms are INSANELY swanky. i’d want to live there, if not for the...everything else......

-them having tons of copies of the same outfit is so funny. tsumugi put her heart and soul into those costumes and you WILL wear them.

-that’s the end of day one! i’ll be keeping track of them, just so you all can understand how RIDICULOUS v3′s timeline is.

-i once saw someone point out that there was zero reason for maki not to take the first blood perk, and now that HAUNTS me. she would only be responsible for one death since there’s no class trial, and we know that ever after five chapters of ✨bonding✨ she’s still willing to murder all her “friends” in a petty revenge plot, and she’s supposed to be willing to do ANYTHING to keep her orphanage from going under. completely irrelevantly, did you know maki being an assassin was actually added later in development than kaede being the first killer?

-despite him definitely knowing that monokuma isn’t really dead, kokichi insists wholeheartedly that the killing game is “cancelled” - it’s one of his more obvious ploys imo. even if it can only delay deaths for a day or so, he’s willing to throw all his acting chops behind it.

-you know that meme that goes “god made me mentally ill to nerf me”? that’s shuichi. he’s a side character that becomes the protagonist. he has a plan to catch the mastermind in CHAPTER ONE. he is breaking the danganronpa formula so bad. tsumugi had to pump him full of depression or else he would have crushed her show like a nut on day one. the detective. he destroyed his narrative. yes. YES. the detective is out.

-KAEDE TOLD MIU TO SHUT THE HELL UP...u know it’s serious when u get *kaede* to curse omg

-”hey,do you think this door is connected to monokuma somehow?” “i think it might.” and here we get our first reminder that v3 was translated by character, not by scene. the translators mostly stuck to their individual character’s dialogue without much communication, and it leaves lots of little blips like this.

-and so day two ends!

-the way they just...take the wind right out of monokuma’s sails is so funny. he’s so excited for this yokai gimmick!! and then miu tells him to get hit by a second car, tsumugi complains that his outfit is bad, and korekiyo starts explaining the difference between ghosts and yokai in excruciating detail. monokuma’s one weakness: pretentious teenage nerds...!

-the additional time-limit motive doesn’t make sense to me when it’s been ONE DAY since he introduced the first one!? it feels like a last resort, something to be used after they refused to take the bait. fits much better with a more stretched-out timeline, where they were in the school for a month or so with no murder before monokuma snapped and told them to kill or else.

-rantaro questions if he can even trust himself because of his missing memories. of course WE know he’s not gonna get hajime’d, but it’s a reasonable fear!

-”that’s why i didn’t want to talk about this in front of everyone...if we told them now, they might all try to find the mastermind, and be led to murder. that’s why...i could only tell you, kaede.” oh, shuichi......(┬┬﹏┬┬) kaede just goes dead silent after this too, before changing the subject. she doesn’t have a murder plan yet - she can’t have one, not before they’ve gone to the warehouse - but she’s certainly Considering Options.

Ryoma Hoshi: a thighs man. I just know it. If a girl has thick thighs or calves like Akane and a nice build I know he’s into it. Definitely ass over boobs any day also. He would appreciate anything she brings to the table if she can stimulate his mind and deeply understand him, though. Also obviously height isn’t a thing for him. He’s not insecure about his height, so she can be whatever. I also think he has a thing for good general hygiene and a good natural scent. Weirdly enough though he also thinks it’s hot when you get all sweaty and panting after rigorous activity or exercise with him.

Rantarou Amami: he like feminine features. Soft, small hands make his heart flutter. Probably likes the pick up and carry his girl, maybe swing her around. Definitely a butt over boobs kinda guy though. I see him appreciating all skin tones, as he is well traveled. Probably thinks accents are hot. Also probably prefers girls natural. Never one to shy away the sight of a little healthy chub, natural body hair, freckles, scars etc. Piercings and tattoos are appreciated but not a must.

Korekiyo Shinguuji: wants to smell your hair, fixates on how deep and soul-filled your eyes are. He gets lost in them. He looks at each vein in your arm, and the curve of your waist, hips, ass, breasts. Body worshipper, to the max. What doesn’t he love about his girl? Don’t get it twisted though, he sees beauty in everything, but perfection in her. Also, probably thinks tattoos that are beautifully done or have meaning (tribal/religious/symbolic) are breathtaking, but cheap, ugly, meaningless or tacky ones disgust him.

Gonta Gokuhara: I know he stares at a girls ass when he’s interested in her. Like casually as she walks by. Or watches the way her breasts bounce gently or the cleavage becomes more exposed as she adjusts herself. He gulps, and looks away in shame. He wouldn’t even notice he was doing it. He doesn’t care much for physical appearances. He probably falls in love with personality first, but once he loves you, he loves all of you and will show you that each body part is worthwhile and amazing to him.

Kaito Momota: he loves a girl with a perfect body. He wants to see that tight body, thin waist, slender, nice tits and ass. He is very into the societal beauty ideals/standards. Wouldn’t mind a more ripped or toned body on a girl though. I think he would just see a well taken care of body and think “she’s worth her own time so she’s worth mine.” I don’t know… it may come of as shallow but I think that’s how Kaito would be at first at least. If he slowly fell head over heels for a girl, like true love not just lust or a crush, he wouldn’t care what she looks like anymore. And that would be hard for his pride to admit to himself. I mean look at Maki… she’s perfect. It’s kind of like the situation where he set his eyes on the hottest girl, but then after they date for years and fall in love, he could care less if she gains weight, gets scars, wrinkles etc.

Kokichi Ouma: much like Korekiyo, he would obsess over all of you, but he just would never admit it. In fact he would tease you about the body part he’s currently obsessing over that day or week, and that’s how you’d know he was hyper fixating on it. “Y/N has the most freakishly large bug eyes. Weirdo…” all just to hide the fact that he can’t stop getting lost in your eyes. “Your ass is so fucking fat I can’t even get past you in the hallway. Wish you’d be considerate of others…” because he can’t stop staring and his hand is itching to grab a handful. If you have piercings he’s gonna pull at them and flick them.

Shuichi Saihara: seeing boobs or your butt in tight or revealing clothing would make him extremely flustered, but so would a shirt drooping down to reveal the swell of your collar bone or your shorts riding up on your thighs. When you bent over and the hem of your shirt spilled upward and he caught a glimpse of your belly button, he would try to look away before he turned too red. He loves to trace the lines in your hands and rub your shoulders. He fixates on any part you let him get ahold of. Your natural smell calms and comforts him.

Kiibo/K1-B0: he didn’t grow up like other young men, instinctively feeling that ass and tits or any other part of a woman’s body are sexual. Through reading, movies, and interactions with other male friends, he would start to see the appeal, and when a girl flirts with him, pressing her chest to his in a tight hug, brushing her fingertips through his hair, leaving lingering touches, he would start to understand why men go crazy over it. Do you really think that he even thought of confessing to you? All those people he witnessed confessing to you made you extremely uncomfortable.

So there's no way that he's going to say it and be another person on this list. He's perfectly fine being your close friend. Actually it's more than enough.

It's a bit funny really. He doubts any possible feelings you may or may not have for him while you reject everyone just to be with him.

But it's not like he thought it'd be good for you to like him. Heck he thought that you being friends was a bit dangerous for you.

So even if you shared mutual feelings it doesn't really mean that he would accept it. There was a slight possibility that he'd reject you.

You were aware of this possibility, but you still wanted to try. You had to!

You had the flowers, the time and the place. Ryoma was a little early but it's not like you were possibly bothered by it.

He was a bit surprised to see you holding flowers but there was no way it could-

It was a bit weird when people had the guts to confess to you while you were hanging out with him.

The fact that someone wanted to tell you something while you spend time with him didn't bother him... But the fact that it made you uncomfortable did.

So he wanted to help you. Picking less crowded places, trying to make you appear busy. He asked if you agreed for him doing so. The second you change your mind he'll stop.

But you had just the thing that would stop at least the ones that are decent and know when to back off.

And it's of course confessing to Gonta and if he likes you back your relationship will be official right away.

You didn't do it to use him obviously- you liked him for a long time and what I just said was a joke.

You wanted this to be special since he was special. You thought about your favorite places and found a perfect option.

There was a lake where you often could see lots of dragonflies. And although it's not his favorite kind of a bug this lake is one of the first special places he took you to. So it had that sentimental points.

When he showed up you decided to first have a warm conversation before you told him how you feel.

Now it was time to make that thought into reality! And you had a silly plan that probably would work.

You were listening to music together- but between the songs there was one audio file of your confession.

While you cringed at the sound of your recorded voice he was shocked.

He didn't really believe what was happening so he asked if you recorded it. When you admitted to it he didn't really know how to react.

"I- uhm- I like you to. Sorry I just don't know what to say, I'm so happy!"

He was over the moon about his feelings for you actually, but he had no problem keeping it to himself.

Knowing how many people made you uncomfortable with their confessions he thought it'd be best if he waited it out and most importantly respect and ask what your feelings are in the first place.

He didn't really think when he asked if you liked anyone. But as he found out that yes, there was someone he was ready to support you.

Although he'd be lying if he said he wasn't jealous... Or angry about the fact that you won't tell him who you like.

He'd try to guess but he couldn't. At that point he thought that he did guess at one point and you just said no anyways.

You knew that with him you had to be straightforward. Of course he probably would be able to tell your intentions but it'd be ideal to let him know without having to worry if he thinks it's platonic.

So you were ready for anything even to bluntly correct him.

When you were hanging out he noticed that you were acting a bit differently and he thought it was becouse he was forcing you to tell him who do you like so you're trying to be cautious around him.

So he apologized for that and ended up giving a few hints that he might like you back.

It gave you some confidence boost so you had a perfect opportunity to strike, and that's exactly what you did.

"What!? It was me all that time!?... You could've just said so. I was worried that I'll never get to tell you how I feel"

Shuichi Saihara

He tried to pay no attention to all those people who declare their love to you. Some were flashy with their confession while some just told you about their feelings.

He was a bit jealous over all those admirers... Not because you had so many. It was because he wished to be as brave as them and tell you how he feels.

But it's not like he could easily admit to it himself. He just didn't know what to say and with each admirer he became more and more scared.

One day he just asked- okay more just blurted out the question if you liked someone.

You weren't lying when you said yes, but you needed some time before you tell him you-know-what.

So his any interest to confess to you was out of the window. But he prepared himself to support you and your future partner.

His question prompted you to step up and finally confess. Since he's definitely going to start guessing.

That was what you assumed, Shuichi didn't actually want to know who you fell for. He only "knew" that it wasn't him.

You decided to confess in a bit risky way. What I mean is: you left a confession letter inside a novel you let him borrow. It could fall out at any time!

You were worried this might happen but soon enough you got a message from him.

He would call you and thought a lot about doing so but he knew he'd be at loss of words so he just decided to text you instead.

"Do you really like me?" this was a sign that he did in fact get your letter.

After that you texted for a while but as to his feelings for you, he decided that he'll try to tell you in person.

Rantaro Amami

He never paid much attention to his feelings. So even when he realized that he's in love he knew he shouldn't say anything.

Looking how many people you rejected he thought you weren't interested in anyone at all.

Of course there were some people you considered strangers. But there were few that were close to you too.

And hey being friends with you was super fun. So why should he make things awkward by letting know how he feels?

You can't have everything in the world and for Rantaro just your smile was enough.

While he set his feelings aside you were preparing yourself to confess.

You decided to strike at a perfect time. The beautiful sight before you (other than Rantaro obviously) the warm atmosphere...

You said it. Without regrets, you couldn't stop yourself. He was a bit surprised but he didn't let you wait long for his answer.

Chiaki Nanami Please don’t kill me for not putting her in S. I can explain, I promise Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore her and love her relationship with Hajime, but I didn’t really get as attached to her as I did with other characters. I still love her though

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu He has one of the best character arcs in the series, only JUST being outranked by Shuichi. Seriously, best SDR2 survivor, hands DOWN.

Ultimate Imposter Yep. Fake Togami outranks actual Togami by miles. YEAH I SAID IT! Idk, I found them a lot more interesting and likeable than Togami and it was a real shame they got killed off so early. They were pretty fun.

Ryoma Hoshi ...Do I even need to explain why he ranked so high? Like, come ON! He’s one of the most underrated characters in the franchise!

Hajime Hinata 3rd best protag for me (yes I’m counting Kaede shut up), but I still love his arc. 

Kiyotaka Ishimaru He was my fave from the first game for a while, but the Kiyondo stuff kinda brought him down for me. And ngl, at times it feels like people only judge him based on his friendship with Mondo. I still love him though.

Mondo Owada Chapter 2. Need I say more. He’s a pretty cool character outside of that, too.

Komaru Naegi Just copy-paste my reason for Ryoma, it’s practically the same.

Nagisa Shingetsu Best Warrior of Hope. Hands down. I will die on this hill.

Kotoko Utsugi Despite being beaten out by Nagisa, I still adore her. She deserves the best.

Maki Harukawa Okay don’t get me wrong, I like her as a character, but the main problem I had was that her crush on Kaito kinda came out of left field for me. Like, she was a stoic unfeeling assassin and she suddenly fell head over heels for some astronaut that knocked on her door a few times. It feels pretty rushed (though knowing Tsumugi it probably was) and kinda brings her down a few pegs for me.

Korekiyo Shinguji “Why is he ranked so high!? He’s the freaky incest guy-” SHUT UP. Yes, his character was absolutely obliterated by the incest twist, but outside of that he is actually a pretty compelling character. (also if you look into his writing it’s pretty heavily implied that his sister used and abused him so judging him based on the incest thing alone is kinda odd ngl)

Ibuki Mioda She’s pretty fun. I’m not as head-over-heels for her as other people, but she’s pretty fun.

Celestia Ludenberg See, Ouma stans? THIS is how you do a compelling liar character!

Peko Pekoyama Please don’t kill me. It’s just that outside of Fuyuhiko she kinda felt......Eh? Like don’t get me wrong, I like her, but something always felt missing for me.

Nagito Komaeda My favourite antag didn’t even make A tier whoops- Yeah, Nagito is the best rival for me, but I’m not as head-over-heels for him as the rest of the fandom is.

Kiibo The “that’s robophobic!” joke kinda got old after the billionth time, but other than that he’s fun.

Aoi Asahina Her development is cool, but I don’t really have much to say on her honestly.

Sonia Nevermind Same reason as Aoi, but her relationship with Gundham is pretty cute.

Jataro Kemuri This kid deserves better and needs protection. ...I don’t have much other than that, though.

Monaca Towa This is gonna be controversial, but Monaca is the best villain of the franchise for me. Sure, she’s far from being one of my favourite characters, but she’s menacing and enough of a threat to be a great antagonist.

Kyoko Kirigiri Please don’t kill me. Like...She’s okay, but for a while I found her kinda......Dull? Idk what to say here.

Makoto Naegi He’s alright, but he’s the weakest protagonist for me.

Tsumugi Shirogane I think people are gonna agree with me the most on this. She’s a decent villain, but the "plainy plainy plain” stuff got REALLY old. (which is partially why I rewrote her entirely in DFTH oops) She’s better than Junko by a long shot, so at least she has that.

Kirumi Tojo She was okay until the nonsensical prime minister twist. Seriously, I detest that twist.

Angie Yonaga ...I don’t really have much to say on her. Like the Atua stuff got pretty old and I found her kinda annoying, but she has enough to put her above the characters I don’t like.

Mahiru Koizumi She kinda felt like a better Tenko, but...Uh...

Teruteru Hanamura Yeah, I don’t outright dislike Teruteru. Shocking, I know. His backstory and the stuff with his mom is charming enough, but the perverted stuff still kinda icks me out. It’s not as bad as Miu’s, though.

Genocider Syo She’s more interesting than Toko, but still not really that much there other than “serial killer that somehow got accepted into this academy but don’t think about that look how quirky she is!!”

Tenko Chabashira Similar to Angie. But the way she drooled over and chased after Himiko was kinda eeeh for me. Not as bad as Souda though, thank god

D tier

Byakuya Togami God, he’s such an asshole. Sure his development and the stuff he does is interesting, but GOD HE’S SUCH AN ASSHOLE.

Akane Owari She’s the most “why the hell are you still here” out of the survivors for me. Like, I don’t outright hate her, but a lot of the time it kinda feels to me like she’s only there for fanservice. (seriously, in one of her sprites she’s literally flashing you. Do I need to say anything else?)

Himiko Yumeno Yeah, she’s also pretty weak for me. Her development post chapter 3 was okay I guess, but it kinda felt too little too late.

Toko Fukawa Ugh. Sure, I don’t really like Togami, but the way she drools over him is gross. Sure she’s somewhat redeemed by her development in UDG, but other than that she doesn’t really offer much.

Yasuhiro Hagakure Didn’t really felt like he offered much other than “blatant comic relief who’s probably a stoner”.

Masaru Daimon The weakest out of the Warriors of Hope by a long shot. Sure, his backstory’s pretty sad, but his personality kinda grated on me, ngl.

Kokichi Ouma PLEASE DON’T KILL ME. Like, everyone hails him as the best written character of the series, but if you look closer into his writing it’s actually pretty bad. Not to mention the stans constantly excusing his actions because “uwu liar boy who’s gay for Shuichi” REALLY brings him down.

Kazuichi Souda He’s literally all the things people hate about Teruteru, but the fandom barely calls him out for it! Hooray!

Miu Iruma She’s basically just there for NSFW jokes. Need I say more. Also, why is no-one else talking about how problematic the maintenance scene was?

Nekomaru Nidai He’s basically just there for shit jokes. And that really got old for me.

Sayaka Maizono OKAY PLEASE PUT YOUR PITCHFORKS DOWN AND HEAR ME OUT! Look, I’m not gonna deny she was kinda cute, but what she pulled in chapter 1 was honestly really fucking snakey. “But she didn’t know about the class trial stuff!” So what? She was willing to use practically the only person in the academy she was close to as a fall guy so she could get away with murder and didn’t even bat an eye! Even if the trial stuff didn’t happen and she DID get away with killing Leon, did she really think everyone would be okay with it? Hell, did she even CONSIDER how Makoto felt!? Gundham: It takes some time for him to show any sort of “weakness” to you. I definitely think he’d have some animal like tendencies from being around them so much, though. Kazuichi: He puts up NO resistance. If you invite him for cuddles, I’m sorry but it’s gonna be a few hours. He falls asleep hard and fast and nothing can wake him up. Please draw a penis on his face.

Twogami: He’s also on the defense, like Gundham, but when he’s out, he’s out cold. Take the opportunity to pet his hair- it’s super soft. He snores too, but he also talks and says really funny things in his sleep. 

Teruteru: If you are a possessor of boobs, beware. He WILL bury his face in them. He falls asleep fast if you let him, but make sure he’s still breathing every once in a while, please.

Fuyuhiko: He won’t do it willingly, but if y’all are watching a movie and he’s comfortable and sleepy enough, he’ll fall into a light sleep. If you move even slightly, he wakes up and gets all cranky. You have to beg him to come back and sleep on you again.

Nekomaru: He snores like a lawnmower and farts in his sleep, so have fun! It’s really funny and he’ll laugh about it with you when he farts himself awake. He’ll subconsciously lay right on top of you with his dense, swole body and you have to wake him up and move him before you suffocate lol.

Akane: Definitely chews and drools in her sleep. You probably end up with her boobs in your face somehow, but she sleeps so deep that it’s easy to move her a bit. She’ll tell you that it’s the best sleep she’s ever gotten!

Korekiyo: If you start reading his favorite mythology books to him, he’ll drift off just listening to you. He’s a pretty sound sleeper but he’s easy to wake up if you need him to change positions. He’s super comfy to sleep on too!

Kokichi: He falls asleep every single time you try to cuddle with him. Don’t be offended, though- that means he’s letting his guard down for you! If you ask him if he’s asleep, he’ll be like “No,” despite being out cold. Like, he literally lies in his sleep. He loves it if you run your fingers through his hair.

Keebo: He doesn’t really sleep, but he’ll pretend to if you want him to. He generates a lot of electricity so if you touch anything while he’s on you, you’ll get shocked.

Kaito: He loves to fall asleep while stargazing, even better if it’s with you! He’ll be lying on your lap looking at the stars, talking about his favorite constellations, and then out of nowhere he’ll just stop talking and be sound asleep.

Ryoma: It takes him a long time to fall asleep, and he has a lot of nightmares, so be prepared to wake him up if he looks like he’s having a hard time. If he sleeps soundly, he’ll tell you it’s because of you and uses it as an excuse for next time.

Rantaro: He’ll literally fall asleep anywhere as long as it’s on you somehow. He loves to hug you in his sleep, and when he wakes up he’ll tell you all about his crazy dreams!

Gonta: He always asks if he can sleep before he actually does. So sweet. He’ll talk about bugs in his sleep too and he’ll get so excited when you mention them later. Please take his glasses off for him- he’ll forget and then end up crushing them.

Sexuality Headcanon: shuichi ALSO shows canon attraction to men and women, and thankfully there’s not nearly as much monosexual shuichi in the fandom as there is monosexual kaede! i can consume disaster bi shuichi content to my heart’s content :D unfortunately he does seem to be struggling with some internalized homophobia in canon, since he says he “shouldn’t be feeling like that about another guy” in regards to his crush on kaito, but the v3 class is so loudly and aggressively queer i honestly think he’d get over it pretty fast. shuichi is a crowd-pleaser and sooo desperate for other people’s approval, so being submerged in a community with so many gay folk would rid him of his homophobia (internalized or otherwise) pretty fast i think.

Gender Headcanon: trans guy! i don’t think he really struggles with body dysphoria tho,,,his dysphoria is more social if that makes sense? shuichi doesn’t look in the mirror and hate his body. it’s just his body; he doesn’t feel any particular way about it. he does things like wearing big sweatshirts when he has to go in public not because he wants to look a certain way, but because he’s terrified someone will see his figure and then perceive him as anything but a man. shuichi doesn’t want to change his face or his voice or his body-he just wants the people around him to see him as he truly is, yknow?

A ship I have with said character: saioumatsu. a big surprise i know but we’ll get through it together. hphasjdfh i’m not really sure how much i have left to say about it at this point,,,i’ve been thinking a lot about them reconciling postgame lately? about shuichi getting to support kaede through recovery the way she supported him through the game, kaede gently bullying kokichi into making friends with the cast, shuichi and kokichi finally getting to apologize to each other....

A BROTP I have with said character: oh jeez i can’t pick just one,,,shuichi has fun platonic relationships with basically the whole cast!! the training trio are very cute even if i do dislike maki’s writing, i like thinking of him and himiko as like siblings, i love that he seems genuinely interested in hearing kiyo’s stories, him and angie fascinate me (although they wouldn’t be a very healthy relationship), and obviously i love him with kokichi and kaede platonically or i wouldn’t ship them romantically lol

Request: I felt bad for a Kokichi when no one bothered to check up on him when he fell through the floor so how about a scenario where someone catches up to him after the trial and bullies him into letting them bandage him up. This small act of kindness causes him to fall for them.

I love this idea, but when he showed up at the trial, all the blood that was on his head and face was cleaned up, and he wasn’t light-headed or anything during the trial, some I’m gonna change up the request a bit to have the reader find him directly after he falls through the floorboard. SPOILERS FOR EVERYTHING UP TO CHAPTER 3 ENDING. Gender of reader never specified.

     “Hmmm, I see. Thanks, Kiyo!” You finished up your light but lengthy interrogation of the anthropologist, who elegantly bowed his head and disappeared into his lab. You exited, rounding the corner to investigate further. You headed toward the three empty rooms, wanting to re-examine Tenko’s body after Korekiyo’s statements, even if the thought of your friend’s corpse made you uneasy. It had to be done.

     You rounded the corner, a sharp yelp releasing from your throat.

     Shuichi, Maki and Kokichi turned to face you, startled by your sudden scream. Kokichi’s forehead was soaked, dripping pink rivulets of blood, and he was leaning on the wall for support.

     “What’s going on?! What happened?! D-did someone attack you, Kokichi?” You ran over, joining the group and looking to Shuichi for answers.

     “He’s fine.” Maki stated flatly.

     “Obviously not, his head is gushing!” You were a bit irritated with Maki’s indifference, but a bit biased with your opinion on Kokichi. You knew many people disliked him, Maki least of all, but you didn’t see a reason to hate him. In fact…you’d been nursing quite the little crush on him. You found him witty, cute, intelligent.

     “Yeah, he felt well enough to pull a childish prank on us, so I’d say he’s fine as well,” Shuichi’s eyes narrowed as he spoke, arms crossing as he looked at Kokichi with contempt. Kokichi simply grinned back.

     “What prank?” You inquired.

     “He pretended he was dead, lying there face-down and bloody only to pop up when we got worried!” Shuichi scoffed, his nasally, nerdy voice getting rather worked up.

     “Kokichi…” you warned, seeing Shuichi’s point now. Kokichi merely smirked back at you as well.

     “Anyway, we gotta go finish up this investigation before Monokuma cuts us off, so if you’ll excuse me, y/n.” Shuichi nodded, leaving with Maki to investigate Angie’s research lab. That left Kokichi and you in the hallway alone, his eyes drooping now that Shuichi was out of sight. A moment of weakness.

     “Kokichi, are you alright? That’s a lot of blood. And you hit your head, yes? What if you have a concussion or something?”

     “Why are you standing around? I haven’t seen you investigating at all, you lazy, lazy scoundrel,” he changed the subject. “Gonna leave all the work to everyone else?” He forced a venomous grin that quickly turned into a clenched-teeth grimace, his head pounding. It didn’t escape your notice.

     “For your information, Ouma, I have been investigating, it’s just obvious to me who the guilty party is, so I’ve been slowing down. I’m ready for the trial.”

     “Hmm so you’re useless and cocky? Great, just what we needed for this case!” He started walking off toward the stairs, still heavily depending on the wall. His words were harsh, but as usual, held an untruth within them. He knew you were smart, and that you probably had figured it out, but he wasn’t going to admit that to you, of course.

     “K-Kokichi! Let me help you!” You grabbed his arm before he could stumble down the stairs. He looked to you incredulously, but didn’t pull away, looking at the little drops of pink that stained his white jacket sleeve.

     “I don’t need your help, stupid-head! What, you’re the Ultimate Nurse or something? Ultimate babysitter? Go bother someone else!” He was trying your patience now, but you weren’t going to turn your back on someone obviously in pain. You saw pain in his eyes, both from his mysterious past and the current injury. Kokichi was more than meets the eye, and you could easily perceive that. It didn’t hurt that he was attractive.

     “No, the Ultimate Psychologist, remember?” You stopped him when he tried to pull away and continue down the stairs alone.

     “Ohhhh, pfft! Yeah,” he rolled his eyes, “I had forgotten since you never actually do anything during trials.”

     “Monokuma!!!” You yelled out, ignoring his insult. Kokichi jumped at your sudden volume, and the monochrome bear appeared seemingly out of thin air.

     “What do you twerps want?” He smiled, hands on his hips.

     “How much time do we have left in the current investigation?”

     “And why should I tell you...? I think that seems a bit unfair! Then I’d have to tell eeeeeveryone!” He leaned forward at your threateningly. You gestured toward Kokichi.

     “Kokichi is obviously in no shape for a trial. He needs to get cleaned up and assessed, at least. I’m asking you to allow me the time to do so, no more, no less?” You challenged him.

     “No way! You’re cra-“

     “Kokichi is easily the smartest one here, and he keeps the trial fun and interesting, wouldn’t you agree?” You hated using the word fun to describe the killing game. You thought it was horrific and morbid, but a little lie to help a friend in the end wasn’t against your morals. “If he’s down for the count or out of it during the trial, it’s going to be painfully boring, right? No one to harass Miu, and everyone else gets along pretty well. It’s going to be a hand-holding ceremony of cooperation. Do you want that?” You glared at the small robot, Kokichi’s mouth a bit agape behind you. Not only were you defending him, which no one here did, but you were standing up to Monokuma.

     “Hmmm...well, I suppose, if it will improve the trial...I must reluctantly agree!” Monokuma’s paw rose to his chin pensively. “You’ve got an hour! Not a minute over, got it?!”

     “Deal. Can I have a first aid kit?”

     “No!”

     “RISE AND SHINE URSINE!” The three remaining Monokubs appeared in front of you, with Monodam holding a large white case in his metal paws.

     “HERE. I. WILL. ALWAYS, CONTRIBUTE. TO. THE. CAUSE. OF. GETTING. ALONG,” Monodam spoke in his staccato mechanical voice, handing the plastic container’s handle to you.

     “You’re lucky my wittle cubs are so cute and helpful and wesponsible!” He swooned at the smaller bears. “Now get outta here, times ticking!”

     “SO LONG, BEAR WELL!”

     You turned to Kokichi with a smile, and to your surprise, he smiled back.

     You sat in your room in the dorms, with Kokichi leaning his head back gently onto the side of the tub in your small, personal bathroom. You sat on the edge, massaging the dry blood out of his hair as he pouted, arms crossed against his chest and thin legs splayed out in front of him.

     “OW!” You touched a sensitive spot, the opening of his wound a little too roughly, and he shook his feet up and down, stomping on the ground like a little kid. “It’s clear you’re trained to take care of people’s minds, not their bodies, you asshole!” He yelled up at you. You chuckled lightly, easing up on his skull and rubbing out a particularly crunchy bit of coagulated blood.

     “What ever do you mean by that, my dear Ouma?” You teased, and he stiffened up, before quickly realizing his emotions were plain on his face, and pouting again.

     “I mean, it’s clear you know how to unravel someone psychologically and trick them, like how you ‘know the culprit already’and persuaded Monokuma, but you really have no talent for physical care, huh?” You assumed he was referring to your rather rough treatment of his body...well, what he determined as rough.

     “I think you’re being a little unfair, Kokichi. I think I’m doing a pretty great job. Do you feel any better after the water?” You’d made him down a few water bottles upon entering your room and examined the wound before rinsing his dark locks out.

     “Hmpf! Whatever. I guess I am grateful to you,” he sighed, “but my appreciation will only continue if you prove you’re truly not as dumb as I once thought!” He looked off dreamily.

     “And how do I do that?” You wrung out the longer pieces of his hair, playing along.

     “Who is the culprit then...if you’re so smar-?” You wrapped his head in a towel and it covered his face and mouth, muffling his words, “HEY!” You giggled and quickly rustled the towel around gently, careful to avoid directly scraping his wound. When you were done you lifted the towel, peeking under to look at his face. He scowled at you, a light dusting of pink on his cheeks.

     “Aww, don’t look so angry. It only makes you cuter!” He turned away from you abruptly, embarrassed, then stood until he was hovering over your seated position, playing it off.

     “Whatever! I’m outta here. Some of us actually want to live through this trial.” You grabbed his hand as he began to exit your bathroom.

     “It’s Korekiyo. It’s obvious, to me at least…he killed them both.” His eyes widened. How did you…? Of course, he had already come to this conclusion. Seeing something like confusion in his eyes, you continued. “It became apparent as I analyzed him. I talked to him for quite a while.”

     “Did you... shrink him?” He scoffed, a bit impressed.

     “I’m afraid so,” you wore a crooked grin, standing to meet him.

     “Aww, poor guy. And he didn’t even make an appointment!!! Though, I guess it’s really your loss after all. You shrinks are expensive! I hope he has insurance!” He laughed loudly, pitying the graceful anthropologist who would shortly meet his doom.

     “You knew already, then?” You inquired.

      “Of course!! Evil recognizes evil after all, and he is evil.” He waltzed toward your bedroom door, not a hint of a thank-you or appreciative word coming from his lips. You didn’t stop him, knowing the trial would soon commence anyway. But then, your thoughts prodded at you, and your lips opened.

     “K-Kokichi?” He paused, hands on his hips as he turned to face you.

     “Whaaaat? We haven’t got all day!”

     “I need to place a bandage and some antibiotic over your wound...it’s pretty deep.” Why were you so worried about him, he wondered. “A-and...I wouldn’t mind spending more time with you…” your cheeks felt hot and you looked toward the ground. He rolled his eyes, walking over and plopping down, criss-cross-applesauce in front of you. “Kokichi?”

     “I can’t blame you for wanting my attention,” he spoke lazily, “I am the most entertaining person in this dump!” 

     “You really are charming, you know?” You spat sarcastically.

     “Well???? Get to it!” He handed you the first aid kit beside your bed, and you accepted it with a relieved, gentle smile. You began to part his hair, looking for the wound, and he was grateful that you couldn’t see the expression on his face from that angle.

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR DANGANRONPA V3 (and probably the other games, too, just to be safe)

So, just as a heads up, I made this list a few months ago, I think in the middle of chapter 4. I was going to update it, but I realized that any feelings I had were just made stronger and the list was still relatively accurate. Here are my thoughts:

I see no god up here other than me

Kirumi Tojo - As you may know about me, I can typically tell who my favorite characters are going to be before I indulge myself in a series. This has especially rung true throughout Danganronpa, I was able to correctly guess Taka and Gundham as my respective favorites before actually seeing them in action. Let me tell you that Kirumi surprised me. I originally guessed K1-B0 as my favorite and while he’s still up there, he is nowhere near Kirumi. I realized she was my favorite the moment chapter 2 ended. Not only were her execution and plan wonderful and brilliantly done, her last-ditch plea to convince everyone to let her live sold her for me. Not only did this plea make sense, it almost worked and I kinda wish it would’ve. Her motive was almost completely selfless and she worked damn hard to escape. Her execution was the only time I cried during this game because I wanted so badly for her to escape, but I knew that all of her efforts were futile. I know her biggest criticism is that her plan from hiding Ryoma’s body was completely unnecessary, but I like to believe she was just nervous and overthought the whole thing. I mean, this had to go perfectly in order for her to save her country, of course she’s going to add a few too many steps.

Miu Iruma - Okay, I know this is going to sound fake, but I actually really love the dichotomy of her character. The way that she acts so self-righteous but is actually quite self-conscious really stood out to me. Of course she’s funny and hot, too, but I feel it’s important to really appreciate the way her character was written. It amazes me that she was written to be the least likable character in the entire series and still ended up being one of my favorites.

You’re the best

K1-B0 - Yes, I type out his name every time. As I already mentioned, he was my original guess for favorite character, but it obviously didn’t work out that way. He stayed in his position of first for a while, but I always knew it wasn’t meant to last, I just didn’t know which character would take his place. Even besides my doubts, I still love K1-B0, I just wish more could’ve been done with him in the earlier chapters. There are several opportunities for him to be a really funny character and have good interactions with Kokichi and Miu, but he just comes off as annoying. I feel like he only really started to be utilized after Miu died with Monotaro and I really enjoyed their dynamic, I just wish we could’ve had some of this side of K1-B0 before this point.

Kokichi Oma - This spot probably isn’t as subjective as I’d like it to be. Every time Kokichi was on screen, I would get visibly annoyed, but I knew I was in for a treat figuring out his deeper intents behind what he’s saying. The only reason I really like Kokichi at all is because he’s fun to analyze. It gets boring to analyze Nagito because his motivation is pretty much just a mix of “hope” and “he’s crazy.” Kokichi’s character trait of lying makes it so fun to individually analyze each of his lines to figure out whether he’s telling the truth and why or why not. Other than that, I guess he has some funny dialogue with Miu sometimes.

Gonta Gokuhara - I really don’t know. I know this is way too early to be unsure about characters, but I just know I couldn’t put him any lower, but I also couldn’t put him any higher. He’s just such a sweetheart, but that’s about where the substance ends. I adored every time he was on my screen, but everything that would’ve been fun to analyze about him just leads back to Kokichi. I still really enjoy his presence, though. I’d like a big Gonta hug.

Kaede Akamatsu - I’ll just say it, I think she would’ve made for a better protagonist. I’ll talk about this later, but Shuichi’s character development doesn’t really feel like it goes anywhere and the twist doesn’t feel worth it because of that. I think the twist should still have been incorporated, but with the roles reversed. Either way, we got what we got, and what we got was tears from Clair de Lune. But seriously, she really is a great pianist. I’ve been trying to learn the piece for ages and it’s still too complicated for me. I mean, it’s in 9/8 for God’s sake. Good for her, regardless.

Tenko Chabashira - Tenko’s a weird case. I didn’t actually care for her that much until quite literally a few lines before she died. Fun fact: I spoiled this entire series for myself before I ended up playing it and I’m still mad at myself. This meant that I was just waiting for all of the deaths to happen, especially Tenko’s. I was fully aware that every line could be her last during the seance, but I wasn’t aware that she would pull on my heart strings before she went. When she tells Himiko that she’ll do the seance in her place so she can talk to Angie, I literally almost started crying. Before this, Tenko was just kind of annoying, but not too bad, but this moment really solidified her spot for me. She really just wanted to help Himiko and I wish she had chosen a better target for her affections.

Shuichi Saihara - Time to elaborate on what I said for Kaede. I actually really enjoyed Shuichi’s character development throughout the first three chapters. Before coming to Hope’s Peak, he was afraid to hurt people with his detective skills. Kaede notices this and helps him through it, passing the reins to Kaito once she passes. Shuichi convicts Kaede and later Kirumi, much to everyone’s detriment, but they’re all okay with it (Nobody was really super sad about Korekiyo to begin with, lol). Then, starting in chapter 4, everyone just kinda flips on him. Shuichi + the rest of the gang - Kokichi all believe that Gonta is innocent and Shuichi tries to prove this. Instead of supporting him, everyone (especially Kaito) tries to... stop him??? from proving it??? They’re all just in agreement that it wasn’t Gonta, but don’t want to proceed with the investigation to figure out who it was instead. It’s really frustrating and made my overall experience much less enjoyable. This is bumped up a few notches in chapter 5 with Maki. I understand that she was part of the whole case, but that doesn’t make it any less annoying that she won’t let me prove Kaito was the victim. It just feels like the character development was all for nothing and every student feels like a human obstacle (except K1-B0, of course). Still relatable and emo, though.

Rantaro Amami - I would make the joke everyone expects, but I’m on my laptop and I don’t know how to get to the emoji keyboard.

Ryoma Hoshi - I genuinely don’t have anything to say about Ryoma. He’s my halfway point because I don’t have anything particularly for him and I don’t have anything particularly against him, either. Go off, funky little cat man.

Kaito Momota - He got on my nerves in chapter 4, but he was a genuinely sweet character that I really enjoyed talking to. Any time he would talk about the stars, I would swoon because he’s just such a natural romantic. Not really my type, though. Very average.

Monophanie - Legally you can’t ask me why the monokubs are where they are. She’s voiced by Natalie Hoover (Sonia) and I guess that’s my only reasoning.

Monotaro - I really just liked his interactions with K1-B0 in chapter 4. Other than that, I greatly disliked his and Monophanie’s presence in Gonta’s execution. 0/10 worst use for monokubs.

Monodam - A nice, non-distracting addition to Korekiyo’s execution. But he had so much potential and just threw it all away. Apparently I’m a basketball dad from a high school movie now.

I remember you

Angie Yonaga - Many times, I’ve found myself asking who I ship from the series and this love triangle comes to mind. Of Angie, Himiko, and Tenko... I only really like Tenko. I don’t hate Angie’s cult stuff as much as everyone else seems to, but she didn’t have nearly enough of a presence for me to latch onto outside of the cult stuff, which was funny, I will admit.

Maki Harukawa - I was so excited the whole game for her to get cool. I knew she was going to get cool, I just didn’t know when or how. But then, it was chapter 5 already and she hadn’t gotten cool in my eyes yet. I was really meh on her by that chapter anyway, but her being annoying really knocked her down a few pegs. She got a couple extra points for surprising me during the case, but not enough to bump her up any spots.

Himiko Yumeno - I was rooting for her to be crushed under the rock at the end. She was fine before chapter 3, but then they tried to develop her with the Akane treatment and it didn’t work for me at all. She just got on my nerves during the third trial and continued to contribute nothing throughout the rest of the game. During chapter 5 and 6, it’s like the writers just completely forgot that she was there. This would’ve been fine if they weren’t the last couple of chapters and she was one of about 6 people left alive. She had a role to play and didn’t play it in the slightest. The most she was utilized after chapter 3 was as Miu’s replacement post-chapter 5. Someone needed to fill the dirty jokes quota and I guess Himiko was chosen. #GiveTenkoABetterLoveInterest2021

Monosuke - The only thing I remember him doing throughout the entire game was distract me from Kirumi’s exectuion. Not a fan.

Korekiyo Shinguji - Okay, listen. He’s not that bad. His design is actually one of the best, in my opinion and I love his dedication to his craft. However, he just creeps me out whenever he’s on screen and I’d prefer not to be around him. It’s not even the sister thing, I honestly think that’s funny and a nice change of pace, but his overall demeanor is creepy. Not to mention he’s played by Todd Haberkorn and he’s been in one too many roles recently. Hopefully I’ll get over it, but as for now, that loses him points.

Tsumugi Shirogane - I know, not exactly an unpopular opinion. She’s just annoying and downright pisses me off a lot of the time with her “plain” shtick. I already knew she was going to be the mastermind, so most of the game was just me waiting for her to reveal it. I swear, I almost couldn’t take it every time she said something like, “What if there isn’t a mastermind?” “What?? There’s a mastermind????” Just stfu Tsumugi. You all are lucky I don’t have the energy to talk about 3-6 right now.

Monokid - Hate the tongue sprite, that’s literally the only reason he’s down here. He’s also kind of annoying, but made the best addition to an execution out of all of the monokubs. His death was one of the few things that surprised me in this game and it was a welcome twist. I was sick of him by this point, but was still incredibly shocked when he was pushed into the execution. Then, his severed head rolls out to all of the students looking on in shock at Kaede’s death. Masterful. Still hate the tongue sprite.

There we go. Definitely my least favorite cast out of the whole series, but it’s still fun to love on and hate on a lot of the characters, as per usual. There are just a few too many in the middle tier (metaphorically speaking) that are either uninteresting or just don’t get their time to shine. Maybe they’ll eventually grow on me more, but I doubt it.
