"How, then, does one become an activist?
The easy answer would be to say that we do not become activists; we simply forget that we are. We are all born with compassion, generosity, and love for others inside us. We are all moved by injustice and discrimination. We are all, inside, concerned human beings. We all want to give more than to receive. We all want to live in a world where solidarity and companionship are more important values than individualism and selfishness. We all want to share beautiful things; experience joy, laughter, love; and experiment, together."

"Dreams on a Pillow is a pseudo-3D Stealth-Adventure game based on the true Palestinian folktale of Omm - a Palestinian mother who fled the massacre of her town with her new-born child. After running for an hour in sheer panic, she realized that she had carried a pillow to safety, instead of her child. Inspired by the story, Dreams on a Pillow explores Omm's life story, showcasing both the history of Palestine before the ethnic cleansing of the lands, and the trauma borne from the violence that was inflicted upon the Palestinian people during the Nakba."

"Salam everyone, my name is Sara, and I'm fundraising for the last remaining tuition fees necessary for me to graduate with my Bachelor's degree.
Since 2019, I've been studying biology as an international student at SFSU in the United States. Unfortunately, my family back home has been facing severe financial struggles since 2021, making it challenging for me to secure funds for tuition each semester. I've explored every possible solutions and routes to cover these expenses in the past, but as an F1 visa holder, I face numerous limitations, and I'm ineligible for financial aid and almost all scholarships.
I'm on track to complete almost all my degree requirements by the end of this Spring 2024 semester, with just two classes remaining in Fall 2024 before I can finally graduate. Failure to pay my tuition by August 24th will prevent me from registering for these final classes and will result in the cancellation of my visa and I-20, forcing me to leave the country and losing my degree. Obtaining this visa again in Egypt isn't an easy process at all with my family's financial challenges making it impossible.
The funds I require encompass the tuition for both the Spring 2024 and Fall 2024 semesters, as well as mandatory health insurance for international students.
Having been displaced from Syria in 2012 and subsequently relocating to the US five years ago in pursuit of quality education represents my sole means of aiding my family amid Egypt's current economic crisis. I hope you help me reach my final step in this journey. I extend my gratitude to everyone who donates or shares :)”

Support Al-Wahab Foundation’s Qurbani Appeal on LaunchGood
Every year, during the blessed days of Dhul Hijjah, Muslims across the world come together to fulfil the spiritual obligation of Qurbani – the sacrifice that commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) devotion to Allah. As we look ahead to Qurbani Donation 2025, Al-Wahab Foundation is once again launching its Qurbani Appeal on LaunchGood to ensure your sacrifice reaches those who need it most.
By supporting Al-Wahab Foundation’s Qurbani Appeal, you are not only fulfilling a significant act of worship, but you are also helping to fight hunger and bring joy to thousands of underprivileged families around the world. Donate now via our LaunchGood campaign:
What Is Qurbani and Why Is It Important?
Qurbani, also known as Udhiyah, is the ritual sacrifice of livestock during Eid al-Adha. It is performed in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail (AS) in obedience to Allah’s command. In return for his devotion, Allah replaced Ismail (AS) with a ram.
Qurbani is an obligation for eligible Muslims who meet the Nisab threshold. The meat from the sacrifice is divided into three parts: one-third for the family, one-third for relatives and friends, and one-third for those in need. Through Qurbani Donation 2025, you can fulfil this responsibility and help feed families living in poverty.
Why Choose Al-Wahab Foundation for Your Qurbani Donation 2025?
Al-Wahab Foundation is a UK-based Islamic charity dedicated to serving vulnerable communities with dignity and compassion. Our Qurbani Appeal ensures that your donation is handled with care, transparency, and Islamic compliance. Here’s why thousands choose us each year:
✅ 100% Qurbani – All of your donation goes towards fulfilling the Qurbani.
✅ Trusted Partners – We work with reliable local teams in multiple countries.
✅ Fresh Meat Distribution – Qurbani meat is distributed on time to families in need.
✅ Transparency – We keep our donors informed every step of the way.
With Al-Wahab Foundation, you can trust that your sacrifice will be carried out according to Islamic guidelines and delivered to communities that truly need support.
Where Will Your Qurbani Go?
In 2025, Al-Wahab Foundation plans to conduct Qurbani distributions across several countries, including:
Pakistan
Bangladesh
Yemen
Syria
Somalia
Kenya
Gaza
Rohingya refugee camps
These are regions where poverty, conflict, and displacement have left many families without access to basic food. For many, your Qurbani meat will be the only time in the year they are able to enjoy a nutritious meal with their family.
Affordable Qurbani Options for 2025
We understand that everyone has different capacities to give. That’s why Al-Wahab Foundation offers a range of affordable Qurbani packages, starting from as little as £35.
Qurbani donations for cows, goats, and sheep are made available in accordance with local customs and Islamic regulations. You can choose to:
Donate one full small animal (goat or sheep)
Contribute one share in a large animal (cow or bull)
Donate a full cow for extra impact
Every donation, big or small, has the power to bring relief and hope.
The Impact of Your Qurbani Donation
Your Qurbani Donation 2025 will:
Provide fresh, high-quality meat to families who cannot afford it
Uplift communities during the days of Eid
Fulfil your Islamic obligation with sincerity
Spread smiles and joy among children and elders
In previous years, your generosity has helped Al-Wahab Foundation distribute Qurbani meat to thousands of families. This year, with your support, we aim to reach even more people, especially those affected by war, displacement, and poverty.
How to Donate
Donating is simple, quick, and secure through our LaunchGood campaign:
🔗 Click here to donate: https://www.launchgood.com/alwahabfoundation
Choose your preferred Qurbani package, complete your donation, and receive confirmation. Our team will ensure your Qurbani is carried out during the days of Eid, and we’ll update you on the impact of your contribution.
Conclusion
Qurbani is more than a ritual – it’s a symbol of sacrifice, compassion, and unity. As we approach Eid al-Adha 2025, join Al-Wahab Foundation’s Qurbani Appeal on LaunchGood and help us ensure that no one is left behind during this blessed season.
Let’s honour the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) by feeding the hungry and bringing joy to families around the world.
🕋 Fulfil your obligation. Feed the hungry. Make your Qurbani count.

Balsam Ibrahim (@balsamibrahim), whose vetted campaign I've been reblogging for several days, has asked me to also share this campaign that is raising money to provide water for the people in the displacement camp in Az-Zawaida. Here is a photo she took of people waiting for water:

Balsam says:
This campaign is more important than my personal one because it helps more than 60 families. Imagine, €100 or €50 can help more than 60 families.
Right now, as of 12:26 GMT on 18 October 2024, this campaign is at $2,955 of its $7,500 goal.

Hey guys! There's this game made by a West Bank palestinian and based on a palestinian folktale set during the Nakba that has been meeting incredible difficulties being funded given the subject matter, and is now turning to crowdfunding to be developed in the middle of the current horrors of the genocide. It's supported by devs I deeply admire and trust, it's gorgeous-looking, and its very narrative conceit already rips my heart to pieces.
If you are interested and want to support the voice and culture of palestinians, don't hesitate to share and participate!

Dreams on a Pillow - a videogame experience about the 1948 Nakba, based on a true story
Reported by Edwin Evans-Thirlwell | Nov. 29, 2024
Palestinian developer Rasheed Abueideh has announced Dreams On A Pillow, a mixture of stealth-adventure and interactive documentary set during the Nakba - Israel's violent displacement and dispossession of Palestinian Arabs in 1948, shortly after Israel's founding. Created by "a global team of veteran game developers", it's the story of a Palestinian woman grappling with the loss of her baby after fleeing a bloody assault on her town. Here's a description of the game, via press release. Inspired by the story, Dreams on a Pillow explores Omm's life story, showcasing both the history of Palestine before the ethnic cleansing of the lands, and the trauma borne from the violence that was inflicted upon the Palestinian people during the Nakba." According to the announcement materials, Omm's journey as a refugee takes her through the sites of several atrocities, including concentration camps and attacks on Palestinians near the Lebanese border. Whenever she is able to rest, the game switches into a documentary mode, "reliving a rapidly fading memory of a pre-Zionist Palestine" by means of archive imagery and text. Omm's principle possession is the pillow, which serves as both a terrible reminder of her lost child and a kind of coping device. When carrying it, she's not able to interact with objects or do things like jump, crawl, throw rocks and climb ladders. Putting the pillow down, however, triggers Omm's guilt and trauma, provoking nightmares that "reveal dangers of the mind, and shroud the dangers of the real world". The immediate practical challenge during the stealth-adventure sections, then, is to complete whatever objectives are at hand and retrieve the pillow before Omm's delusions overwhelm her. hey followers and mutuals:
just a reminder that you can help suffering palestinians from afar. it feels hopeless, but there's always something we can do.
you can donate. i've been donating to the palestinian children's relief fund; there's also a chapter on campus at my university. there are other organizations you can donate with, too: unicef and launchgood are good ones too i think. it doesn't have to be a hundred dollars at a time; give whatever you can afford. just remember why you're giving in the first place.
you can boycott. boycott starbucks, boycott mcdonald's, boycott nestle products, coke products, unilever products...there are so many fucking companies with their hands in israel's pockets (and vice versa) right now. even better, the boycotts are working. starbuck's stocks have dropped like crazy in the past couple of weeks; the world is feeling our collective effects. boycotts work if we stick to them. go to bdsmovement.net to learn about more companies you can boycott or pressure.
you can call your representatives. call and email your representatives every single day. you can call the white house. you can tell them that you are a registered voter and that you will not be voting for any candidate who does not demand a ceasefire. tell them that you will refuse to support any elected official who accepts bribes from AIPAC (such as democrats Brian Higgins, Gregory Meeks, Joseph Morelle, and Ritchie Torres of NY and Pete Aguilar, Ami Bera, and Julia Brownley of Cali). flood those motherfuckers with messages. it does more than you think.
you can share. get on social media and find those palestinian journalists and civilians who are sharing in real time scenes from Gaza. it's gruesome and it is horrifying, but people (especially those so removed from it) need to see it to understand. western media can only spread so much propaganda; when you've seen those dying children, people crying and searching through rubble for their families, something is bound to change. go to instagram and follow motaz (@motaz_azaiza), bisan (@wizard_bisan1), plestia (@byplestia), the heroes on the ground in gaza, risking their lives. they start each new post with "i'm still alive", often worrying that they may not be for long. palestinians are begging the rest of the world to listen and to tell their story in case they don't make it. they just want to be remembered. that's the very least we can do.
you can have conversations. talk to your friends, your family. post on social media. address it directly. it will be uncomfortable. you dont have to be aggressive about it; just try to appeal to people's humanity, present them with the facts, and if you must, show them the gruesome footage from gaza or the badly veiled propaganda from israeli officials. do anything you can to get them to care. tell them how they can help. get people talking about it, even just thinking about it.
you can educate yourself. i've learned more about the history of israel and palestine in the last few days than i ever had before. and let me tell you: learning the objective facts of history makes it 200% easier to know who to support.
you can support your muslim, jewish, and arab friends. they all need it right now. check in on them and see how they're doing. let them know that you're trying to do something; even though it feels small, it will mean something to them, i promise. let them know you're there and you support them.
please please share and do whatever you can to help those suffering without food, water, electricity, or medical care right now. don't be afraid of the issue because it's "sensitive" or "controversial". it's uncomfortable to face, but it should be more uncomfortable to allow thousands to die while we do nothing.

Hello, my name is Huda, and I’m from Gaza. I write this message with a heart full of pain—but also hope.
I was injured in an airstrike that shattered our lives. All of my family members were hurt, I lost two of my brothers, and my little brother is now battling a dangerous infection (amebiasis).
I lost sight in my left eye, and we are 10 people living with no income, no resources, and no way to afford education or medical care.
Despite everything, I still dream of continuing my studies and supporting my family.
I’m humbly asking for help:
Is there anyone living in a supported country (like the US, Canada, UK, EU) who can help me by creating a GoFundMe or LaunchGood campaign on my behalf?
I need this link so I can share my story and try to raise donations for treatment, education, and basic needs.
If you are willing to help, please message me. I promise honesty, transparency, and deep gratitude.
Thank you and may God bless every kind heart.
