A Mandala of Creation Chakras + Elements + Planets + Signs This is a Geometric Mandala of Connection. * What is a Mandala? A mandala is a sacred geometric work of art that represents the universe and is loosely translated to mean circle or container of essence. Mandalas are primarily recognizable by their concentric circles and other geometric figures. A mandala represents wholeness, and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself. It is a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite, the world that extends both beyond and within our bodies and minds. * How do we use a Mandala? The design of the mandala is to be visually appealing so as to absorb the mind in such a way that chattering thoughts cease, and a more philosophic or spiritual essence envelopes the observer which in turn leads to higher consciousness or awareness. In short, a mandala can be seen as a hypnotic, letting the creative hemisphere of our mind run a little more free while our analytical mind takes a little nap. We can use the mandala as a form of meditation for the purpose of gaining knowledge, primarily the kind that resides within each of us. * In the many traditions where mandalas are used, the practitioner, establishes a dialogue with the symbol or deity at the core of the mandala by moving progressively from the outside towards the centre. Once within the centre, the practitioner connects with the central symbol or deity and he or she is able to perceive all manifestations as part of a single underlying whole and gets closer to the goal of enlightenment or perfect understanding.
