Lesson Planning for Different Types of Learners: A Comprehensive Guide
Introduction
Lesson planning is the heart of effective teaching. It sets the course for what students learn and how they will accomplish it. However, one of the most significant challenges teachers face is accommodating different types of learners in one classroom.
Understanding Different Types of Learners
Every student is unique. They have their preferred methods of learning - some are visual learners, others auditory, and some are kinesthetic. Understanding these different learning styles is crucial for creating an inclusive learning environment.

Streamline Your ESL Lesson Planning with Data and Digital Tools
Tumblr media
In the modern classroom, teachers face the constant challenge of balancing effective lesson planning with the increasing demands on their time. For Australian educators, particularly those involved in ESL (English as a Second Language) instruction, the task can be even more daunting. However, by leveraging data and digital tools, you can not only streamline your lesson planning process but also deliver better outcomes for your students.
The Power of Data in Lesson Planning
Data-driven teaching is no longer just a buzzword—it’s a transformative approach that allows teachers to make informed decisions about their lesson plans. By analysing student performance data, you can identify learning gaps, understand student needs, and tailor your ESL lesson planning accordingly. This personalised approach ensures that each student receives the attention they need to succeed, whether they are struggling with basic grammar or are ready to tackle more advanced language skills.
Utilising data also helps with tracking student progress over time. This can be particularly useful in ESL classrooms, where students often come from diverse linguistic backgrounds. By regularly assessing data, you can adjust your teaching strategies to ensure that every student is on the right path.
Digital Tools: A Teacher’s Best Friend
Digital tools have revolutionised the way teachers approach lesson planning. Gone are the days of manually creating lesson plans from scratch. With the right tools, you can access a wide range of teacher lesson plan templates that can be customised to fit your specific needs. These templates save you valuable time and provide a structured framework that ensures your lessons are well-organised and aligned with curriculum standards.
For ESL teachers, digital tools offer additional benefits. Interactive platforms allow for the integration of multimedia resources, such as videos, audio clips, and interactive quizzes, which can make lessons more engaging for students. These tools also facilitate collaborative learning, enabling students to work together on language exercises, thereby enhancing their communication skills. Digital tools are a great addition to the ESL classroom and an effective lesson plan for teachers.

A Weekly Lesson Plan Template isn't just a set of organized tables; it's a dynamic framework that empowers educators to design impactful learning experiences. Whether you're a classroom teacher, homeschooling parent, or a dedicated instructor, these templates provide the structure and flexibility needed to cultivate an enriching educational journey.
1. Structure and Clarity: The Foundation of Learning
Imagine trying to build a house without a blueprint. Similarly, effective teaching requires a structured plan. Weekly Lesson Plan Templates offer a clear and organized framework, allowing educators to outline their objectives, content, and activities for each lesson.

Every educational journey needs a destination. Weekly Lesson Plan Templates prompt educators to align their lessons with specific learning goals and objectives. This alignment ensures that each lesson contributes to the broader educational journey.

5. Assessment Tools: Measuring Progress
Assessment is crucial for gauging student progress. These templates provide space for educators to outline assessment methods and tools, ensuring that learning outcomes are evaluated effectively.

Checking in - Author Updates - Quick Poll
Hello all! I hope you are all doing well!
I wanted to check-in. I don't have a ton to say on development, just wanted to keep you in the loop on where I am at personally since it tends to affect production speed. I also have a question for you at the bottom.
As I've posted about before, this year has brought about some challenges for me. There aren't a ton of good developments on that front, and my job is being...difficult. The (technical) good news is that I am still employed, but some days I wish I weren't. (I'd much rather be writing IFs, lol.) There is still uncertainty about the future of my job because it is at the mercy of the whims of my government. But what is more pressing currently is that my employer has opted to treat its employees worse (let me tell you, this is a feat because they've never really treated us well), by making our lives and jobs harder. I've made some "worst-case scenario" plans to prepare, so I'm just getting by one day at a time. Oh...and I also have needed to work overtime again, so that's another time suck there. Ugh. In May, I'm taking a couple days of off for me to rest.
In more recent news, I am doing physical therapy...yippy! In recent months I have struggled with my right shoulder. I assumed it was one of those "you're in your late 30s" pains, and I just dealt with it. Don't do that, by the way. I have a very bad habit of just doing with little regard for pain and discomfort. But, it got difficult to hug without pain, and nothing messes with my huggin'. We really don't know what is wrong with my shoulder/arm, but I'm doing virtual (oooh shiny) PT (not the Silent Hill variety) to hopefully correct the issue. If I don't see results, I will need expensive tests and scans. No worries currently, though, I don't think this will slow me down much at all. I can still write and I don't experience any discomfort when I do.
I'm also still working on a coding class, which is self-paced, but I'm sticking to a lesson schedule to make sure I get it done. I would really love to be able to make improvements of my own to GC or even make my own Twine Template someday.
So, in more fun development news, Chapter 6 is growing steadily. And so is Chapter 5, technically. If you missed it, check out this Tumblr ask where I talk a bit about that. The ask and answer contain some slight spoilers for Ch 5 & 6, but nothing too specific.
Chapter 5 is up by a bit over 1500 words, if you're curious, and Chapter 6 is up to over 69k words. I am wrapping up a big moment for Zahn, which might be a bit heavy. After that, there's a more fun moment, which will present a few coding challenges for me, but I'm looking forward to it. *rubs hands together like housefly*
Finally, I have a question for subscribers or those who may want to sub in the future. I find myself wondering what else to post about at times. Especially when I have inordinately busy weeks, I just can't think of things that you may want to see other than peeks at the chapter. I sincerely wish I had more time to add more projects. I have so many ideas kicking around in my head...
So, I was wondering if you were interested in seeing things other than God-Cursed that I have worked on. These would be things that may or may not become much of anything later, so I wasn't sure if there would be much pull to see them (or if it would just be a cruel tease, lol). I have an incomplete IF that I did to help me learn Twine a couple of years ago. I used it to just get acquainted because I am very much a hands-on learner. It's a humorous and simple story (loosely) based on an actual time in my personal life. I have debated about finishing it. I have a couple of others as well where I was playing with a story idea to see how it felt. I also have a complete romance novel which I am slowly editing for publication.
Patreon, Ko-fi links if you want them.
So that's all for me. If anything big happens, I will let you know! ^_^
Take care, everyone!

Groovification: [LOCKED]
Set to Home Screen: Uh…Do I look okay?
Home Transition 1: Should’ve known Lilia wouldn’t let me pass the dorm mirror without trying to scare the soul out of me first. The guy really knows how to make you feel alive.
Home Transition 2: Jorge and Hernando started the morning by squeaking up a storm. They were trying to sing to me, but between the two of us, I think I should get them some music lessons.
Home, after login: Hmm~ Hmm~ Hmm~ 🎵 Oh, haha. The Ramshackle Prefect invited me to listen to a musical from their homeworld on their magic gramophone. Cool, huh? I took a recording hoping Ortho might be able to clean up the audio.
Home Transition (Groovification): [LOCKED]
Tap Home 1: Check it out! Cater got me this awesome limited edition poster for one of my favorite films. I kept asking how he got it, but he just gets this sly look in his eye and won’t tell me.
Tap Home 2: Yeesh. Even on my birthday, Vil gave me a big ol’ chewing out over my hair, but then gave me a present. …It’s hair product.
Tap Home 3: People give Silver a wide berth because he looks so serious all the time, but he’s honestly a great guy. We’re planning on having a movie night, y-you’re welcome to join!
Tap Home 4: Dorms are forced to host birthday parties, so freshman year I felt kinda bad over these random dudes having to throw one for me. This year…it actually felt like they wanted to celebrate…heh heh.
Tap Home 5: A couple of freshmen asked how old I was turning and they looked so surprised. …Do I really look that old…?
Tap Home (Groovification): [LOCKED]
DUO MAGIC: Haha, let’s not to get too wild here, o-okay Floyd…? / C’mon, Flounder! How ‘bout we kick it up a notch?

Tag Game: Author Ask Tag
thxxxxxxx @sacratos for the tag!
Question Template: 1. What is the main lesson of your story? Why did you choose it? 2. What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding? 3. What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness or help the reader grow as a person? 4. How many chapters is your story going to have? 5. Is it fan fiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it? 6. When did you start writing? 7. Do you have any words of encouragement for fellow writers of writeblr? What other writers do you follow?
1. What is the main lesson of your story? Why did you choose it?
Don’t be an idiot and actually communicate with those you love, lol. In all seriousness, I don’t know if my story has a main theme, but there are several themes for sure. The importance of having family that loves and supports you (whether found or biological), taking back autonomy of oneself, and the importance of community.
2. What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding?
Other BBU/pet whump authors! If you have written for the BBU, trust me, I have used some idea of yours as inspiration somewhere. I also use middle school me’s obsession with dystopian novels as inspiration as well.
3. What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness or help the reader grow as a person?
All my MCs are trying to heal, in one way or another and I want my readers to connect with my characters in some way. Not really teaching a lesson or having some big, major theme, but I want my characters to feel real and connect with the readers (yes, even if you want to kill them you cannot touch Star, he is immune from death)
4. How many chapters is your story going to have?
Hahahaha ha ha ha. . . yeah, no clue
5. Is it fan fiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?
Original content from my brain! I post it here, and only here
6. When did you start writing?
The minute I learned what stories were. I think I wrote my first “story” (bible fanfiction. No I will not be taking questions about that) when I was about seven or so, then my first full fanfiction at nine and I have not stopped since.
7. Do you have any words of encouragement for fellow writers of writeblr? What other writers do you follow?
Read! Seriously, I cannot stress this enough! Read! And not just to compare yourselves with other writers–please don’t do that at all–but read to see how others write emotion, descriptions, characters, plots! Take what you like and figure out why you don’t like other kinds of writing, then apply what you want to your own writing. Also, your writing voice will develop in time. Don’t worry about that.
A large chunk of people I follow are writers! Can’t list all of them here, but they know who they are and their writings have inspired and shaped both my style and my content. Ilyasm!
Tagging (w/o any pressure!) @quietly-by-myself @whump-card @sparrowsage @whumble-beeee @whumpyourdamnpears and anyone else who wants to join in!

I have a lot of sympathy for professors who are tired of being told "don't fight it, just incorporate AI into your lesson plan, teach students how to effectively use AI to assist their writing." It doesn't work. The students most inclined to use ChatGPT for assignments aren't exactly looking for avenues to improve their writing or enrich their understanding of the material. They're looking for a quick way to avoid doing the work at all. My classroom AI policy used to say "you can use it for brainstorming and creating a template." But that didn't pan out, because students who do use it just don't stop there.
All AI-written assignments inevitably end up getting no more than a C- even if I can't prove it (and 0 if I can) because they are simply bad. They look like... I'm reminded of this bit from Conning Harvard (nonfiction book about the guy who lied and plagiarised his way into multiple elite universities):

Inspo & to-do list
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Study German: Today I begin with my German course again. I'll be taking it slow and be focussing in understanding the lesson plan over only taking notes for further refference, since that's what I basically did the first time.
Reading: I'm currently rereading Howl's Moving Castle and really enjoying it this time arround. I have set a daily reading goal and will read only to that point unless I decide to go further later tonight.
Notion updates: This one is more an updtate than a to-do, since it's what I've been up to this morning. Got a new Notion template and have been spending some time playing with the layout, but yesterday I was watching some videos and loved a template and I had to recreate it as best as I could (the creator did not have it linked>"<).
Workout: I'll make some time this afternoon, between lunch time and my evening snack to get some movement in. I've been feeling a little pressure in my lower back and some tightness around my hips, so I'll be doing some hip opener excercises that are easy for the 1st trimester.

If you ever do make that videogame I'd love to help! That is if I had any useful skill like programming or drawing 🥲
But I'm sure you'll find here plenty of people willing (and capable) to help you if you decide to make it.
Of course no pressure if you decide not to go through with it, the person you would be doing this videogame for is first and foremost yourself.
I might just focus on how to make concept art or game assets instead of programming for the game if ever. If I were to make this game I kinda want to work on it on my own pace since I don’t want to bother people with it but I do appreciate you guy’s enthusiasm to help, it’s really motivating.
At the moment I’m still juggling with school while trying to hone my skills in drawing after neglecting my skills for a long long time. You guys already help me enough with your motivating words and ideas.
One thing for sure, the AU is just an excuse or a template I’m using to practice my skills again. Even though there’s no concrete material like a solid outcome or lore or anything but small ideas in a box and was made by accident, it revive my love for creating assets and experimenting ideas.
(Like right now I was wondering if the SoT part of the game play involves creating a lesson plan correctly based on Teachers Board exam but that’s too much so I scrap that since it’s out of my skills but hope there’s someone who sees this and knows how to make a game based off that concept and try it for themselves. There’s no games that helps student teachers learn how to manage a classroom that ain’t just the usually questionnaire or multiple choice google form)
Sorry I ramble too much. Though this is an AU about two cookies in a Korean game, it really fired my dead passion back to life and you guys really help solidify the passion.
I know it sounds cheesy but I haven’t felt this motivated in many many years.

Swapped
I had a thought about what if MC took the place of the original for a day. This was birthed from that thought.
Lyssa takes Bree's place at work.
Count: 771 words
Warnings: chaotic little 4 year olds.
Genre: humor, au.
Tumblr media
Lyssa placed the cold towel against Bree's forehead as the woman whimpered in pain. Waking up this morning to a massive headache that later transformed into having head-fever was unexpected.
Okay, maybe it wasn't that unexpected. Her students came to school with either runny noses, sneezing or developed fever throughout the week and despite sanitizing, promoting hand washing, encouraging parents not to send their sick kids to school to prevent infection spread, all failed. Now, here Bree was, sick.
"You know, I never understood why you would be under the weather so often. Now, I get it. Would it be the end of the world if you do not hug your students when they aren't well?"
Bree gave a pained chuckle "… not as simple as you think it is. However, I promise I tried."
Scoffing, the hunter grabbed Bree's phone, "I'm going to message your headmistress letting her know you won't be in for a few days."
"Lyssa, NO!" while grabbing her shirt sleeve.
"I'm not letting you go to work like this."
"I don't have anymore PTO or sick leave I can take. I'll be fine."
"No, Bree, and if Zayne or Sylus were here, they wouldn't let you go either."
Pouting but not letting go of Lyssa's shirt sleeve, Bree gave her best pleading face and quietly whispered "but my babies."
They maintained eye contact until Lyssa broke it first. "You're still not going to work, but I will."
"Wait — what?
Tumblr media
Lyssa entered the nursery school at precisely 7:30 am, having had a crash course on who the staff were, Bree's students and just basic things to look out for. Luckily Bree had pictures of everyone and a simplified verison of her lesson plan for the day. Thank goodness, plus it was Friday.
"Good morning teacher."
Coming back into focus, her eyes landed on a little girl with pigtails. Alright, moment of truth. "Good morning, Mira."
She watched as Bree's student hung up her bag and went for the puppet corner. Bree told her to expect when her students arrive that they are familiar with their routine, all she needed to do was maintain classroom control and teach the topics in the lesson plan.
The little girl didn't talk much, so Lyssa took the time to set up materials and get the classroom ready. Student after student arrived, taking their name card from the large house template and moving them to the school template.
The hunter was amazed by the students, their speech, the chaotic personalities, their creativity, the things they made using blocks, they seem to enjoy roleplaying the most.
"I am the chef, Juno. My food is much better than Jules. Now hand me a plate so I can give teacher breakfast."
Lyssa raised an eyebrow, she had to admit they were very entertaining and then the hugging began, as much as she tried to avoid them, she couldn't. They were sneaky, catching her offguard. Wanderers never gave her such an issue.
One had a consistently runny nose and tried touching her as often as she could. Didn't her parents know not to send a sick child to school.
"Azarie, you can't touch teacher with your hands. You need to wash them."
The rest of the morning passed with laughter and noise. When it was noon and the class dismissed, students leaving to go home, Lyssa let out an exhausted breath.
Four hours of little balls of energy and she felt like she just came out the most gruling training. How the heck Bree does this five times a day for weeks on end without loosing her mind was nothing short of amazing.
Finally it was time to leave. Lyssa bid everyone a happy weekend and hurried out of there. So after picking up Bon-Bon from play school and returning to Bree's residence, the first thing she did was check on her.
"Mommy!" squealed the toddler as she ran into the bedroom, jumping onto the bed.
"shh— try not to shout chick."
"It's okay. My head doesn't hurt as much. Hey my baby, did you have fun at school today?"
The toddler enthuastically spoke a mixture of english and gibberish.
"How do you do that?"
Bree looked up, raising a brow "what do you mean?"
"You're not 100% yet you have energy for her, and your students are crazy dramatic, loud, and full of unrefined energy. I commend you."
Bree let out a laugh. "They got to you… didn't they?"
"Let's just say i'll never doubt you again, and you can't get me to do this another time."
"This was your idea not me."
No lie there.
