I think it's mean how some people talk about fics on AO3.
'Oh you gotta wade through literal trash to find the good stuff'.
Were you not a beginner once? Did you not write crack fic or self indulgent things for your own entertainment?
Maybe don't speak that way about your fellow fic writers? Just because some fics aren't as polished as others, or involve fetishes and tropes you don't enjoy, or are not the style you want your fics to be doesn't mean they're trash.
It's a horrible thing to say and beginners are going to be discouraged from writing knowing that their fics might be considered trash because they're just starting out.

there are a lot of evil people in the world and a lot of darkness in the world and so it’s very important for me to stress that now more than ever is the time to spread kindness and compassion. combat the evil by not only not partaking in it, but actively refuting it. destroy the notion that being compassionate or generous or kind to someone is uncool or embarrassing or even scary. be the change you want to see. start a chain reaction. positivity only breeds more positivity. do an act of kindness for someone so that that person who is too afraid to do it themselves can see you, realize that they’re not alone, and perhaps sheepishly follow your example. and then the next person who is too afraid but sees that person can do the same. when bad news comes out about bad people or horrible atrocities in the world it’s such an easy impulse to despair, and obviously it’s important to feel what you need to feel. grieve. be angry. be sorrowful. be empathetic. but dust off your pants and get up and be a part of a chain reaction that, no matter how small the scale, and spread compassion and love and care. all the reasons why you might not—“it’s hard! it’s scary! people will make fun of me! it’s useless because there’s too much evil!” are all grade A arguments as to why you should. you have no idea how many people you could inspire to do the same. even if it doesn’t get you anyway far, you can at least say you have the nobility of trying. please choose love and please choose life. you are worth loving and you are worth inspiring others to love

7. Lincolnshire Posy: II. — Composed by Percy Grainger, Performed by the Dallas Wind Symphony
It’s been on my mind lately that I had a lot of these Spotify song requests that I finished and never got around to posting, so I’m gonna try to chip away at posting these over the next few weeks! BUT Hi Ghost :] It’s so funny this was the song you ended up getting the number for; I had actually listened to it on loop during the deepest trenches of ranchers brainrot however many months ago, so I’m really happy I ended up being able to draw something for them!! <3 This is also the part where I expose myself for being an unashamed band kid =w= Grainger’s one of my favorite composers, so I listen to his works a lot and couldn’t help associating the really soft hopeful horns with this kind of healing period for the ranchers ;w;
I probably won’t ever really go into the details of the m-1 server’s overall plot, but I think the general vibe for m-1 ranchers is that these little moments of soft sunlight and healing bones were some of the most needed for them, so that’s why scenes like this always stand out in my mind <3 Context aside though, I think m-1 ranchers are just super sweet so!! figured I’d Full-Send share this soft doodle of them :]

hey in ur peri animatic: (https://youtu.be/OCqlRuDaXYU?si=K52WDu_vw9rg7chz) that I have been permanently obsessed over since today and have watched about 20 times by now so much that I have drawn & posted stuff based on it what was that partial bug form peri had?
I haven’t watched either of the show btw so if it’s explained in the show please tell me plsssss
OK, SO the bug thing is not technically canon to the series. It's based on my own headcanons for fairy biology, but i do have justifications for it!! Fairies have very strong shape-shifting abilities, so it would make sense that the form they show to humans isn't necessarily their true form(not to mention extreme that mimicry is very common in insects). And you want to know the visible traits almost every fairy has in common? Being very small with Insect-like wings.
The fact that their humanoid form isn't their true form in actually confirmed in the show! Cosmo and Wanda are revealed to look like biblically accurate pseudo-angels in the museum episode. (I say pseudo angels because the Flaming Sword of Eden is only debatably sentient and I don't think is considered an angel. Ophanim are also debatably not angels because they don't have wings (sorry for the angel tangent I like angels))
So wouldn't their true forms be angelic then? Well, yes. But I like bugs so. Also I have more headcanons to justify myself. I like to think that they have both a true-true form (incomprehensible to the human brain, probably exists mostly in a dimension invisible to us, that looks how we imagine biblically accurate angels), and a fairy form (which is visible to humans but is naturally very insect like and tends to scare people). So, in order to interact with humans, they have to learn to shapeshift into a humanoid form but will occasionally slip if they get too relaxed/aren't careful, hence the mandibles coming out when he yawns!
The reason they struggle so much more with human forms than the animals or objects they typically turn into is that, well, they aren't trying to convince those animals or objects. The more human they try to look, the harder it is to keep up convincingly. If you turn into a really uncanny squirrel, only other squirrels will notice. If you turn into a really uncanny human, they form a lynch mob and burn you at the stake.

Did someone say Windbreaker oc reveal.. are we ready for windbreaker ocs?… IF YALL HAVE SUM LMK I WANNA HEAR/SEE EM
The little character story I have so far if anyone is interested ^^
Who is Lady Lù Huā:
Lù Huā comes from a renowned martial arts family in Katori, Japan. Her father, a respected dojo master, is known for his expertise in various martial arts, particularly the ancient and deadly Imperial Snake Kung Fu. Growing up in this environment, Lù Huā was immersed in rigorous training from a young age. Her father instilled in her not only the physical skills but also the philosophies and discipline that come with mastering martial arts.
Secret Life:
While her family dojo is renowned for its traditional values and teachings, Lù Huā leads a double life. Unknown to her father and especially her mother, she has established and leads her own organization, a gang that operates in the shadows of Katori. This dual existence allows her to navigate both the honorable world of martial arts and while using her knowledge to protect towns nearby giving her a unique edge in both realms.
Fighting Style:
Lù Huā’s main fighting style is the Imperial Snake Kung Fu, a fluid and lethal form of martial arts that emphasizes speed, agility, and precision. This style suits her perfectly, allowing her to move with grace and strike with deadly accuracy. Her skills are unmatched, making her a formidable opponent both in the dojo and on the streets.
Family Dynamics:
Lù Huā has two younger siblings, twins who have mastered Tiger Style Kung Fu. The twins, fierce and loyal, serve as her right and left hand in the gang keeping quiet to protect both their name and their older sister. Their contrasting styles, Lù Huā’s fluid and viper-like movements paired with the twins’ powerful and aggressive techniques create a balanced and deadly trio. Together, they protect their territory and maintain order within their organization. (No names not design has been established yet.)
Leadership:
As a leader, Lù Huā is both feared and respected. She rules with a strong hand, balancing kindness with harsh discipline. It’s no surprise to see women in the gang who have ambition and determination alongside other members. Her good intentions shine through her actions, as she strives to protect her loved ones and maintain peace in her community. However, her slightly coldhearted demeanor ensures that she is not easily crossed.
Persona:
In her quieter moments, Lù Huā enjoys reading, solving puzzles, tea making, and enjoying a good firework show. These activities help her maintain balance and focus, ensuring she remains at the top of her game both mentally and physically. Her love for these activities reflects her thoughtful and introspective nature, a stark contrast to her fierce and commanding presence as a gang leader. But it’s never been a smooth life. "Even in a life of luxury, I have never lived a dream. The unseen battles within my heart leave me aching for true happiness, a distant horizon I have yet to reach."
Ps. Canon her nails grow very fast but they break every time she fights and she gets pissy. (I said so💅)

realistically i am aware that diomedes didn’t have any of his father’s boar motif armor because then he wouldn’t have given it away in that armor exchange in the iliad .however. Since it gives a lot of drama for odysseus to see a shadow on the ground of the battlefield of tusks emerging from a massive boulder of a man and for a second in the haze of battle he thinks it’s the boar from his youth come back to finish the job and he blinks and it’s just diomedes. i have elected to ignore canon and just start making shit up

this is somewhat of a vent post & something i said i would not do again but has been plaguing me enough that i think getting it out might feel better. so. has anydoggy else been. Baffled and upset by nora sakavic’s refusal to speak on how terribly aftg has treated its characters of color? with the author of the series coming back with a new book and starting up on her online activity again, and questions of what she’d change about aftg bubbling up, it’s particularly glaring to me that we are all playing this very long game of pretend where we ignore how badly the non-white cast has been treated & her lack of thoughts on it
and i understand not wanting to bring up nicky and thea because people pick on her for it. i’m not trying to discredit nora sakavic’s terrible history of getting harrassed online by aftg fans. but i think it is very cynical, and it is very juvenile, and most of all very cruel, that she gets to ignore the very real ways the books have set up these characters to be hated. i think it’s obvious why the characters who get the most hate are the only canonical characters of color, and i think we do not get to treat this like a deliberate decision on the fandom’s part when the books have put these same characters in degrading and embarrassing and terrible positions in the first place. aftg is not a story about nice characters with clean pasts, but there is a very specific nastiness to the only characters of color being a brown man who sexually harasses and later assaults the main character, a black woman whose only scene is her lashing out at her love interest after being ignored for the first two books, and the japanese villain who gets maybe two lines of complexity before he goes back to being a terrible person. the white cast, in comparison, while not at all free from flaws, are never shown to commit mindless evil; all of their actions are ultimately justified. the book goes out of its way to give them concession after concession. we know exactly who to side with, because aftg tells us who these people are. does nicky’s assault ever get addressed in the books? does riko’s reasoning to be the way that he is ever gets more than briefly aluded to? is thea reserved even a shred of humanity or grace in her one scene?
anyway. it’s been years of talking about this and the fandom has been constantly hostile to criticism in this regard, and more recently any criticism at all, and it’s Grating to be on the other side of this discussion. it’s exhausting to know that in ten years we do not get even an acknowledgment besides the author saying she will not answer questions about nicky and thea anymore. it’s upsetting and it’s ugly and i wish no one had to talk about this again, but we do because what i thought was common sense has been washed away by a sudden influx of no-nuance adoration for the trilogy. basically i hope we all explode

Hey Anon, I have zero intention of making any of your hateful asks public, but I think you do have a serious problem if you spend your time sending hateful messages to random blogs and naming and attacking mutuals over a ship no one (literally) cares about. Do you like to ship Ciri and Roche? Okay, good for you my friend, but I don't even know why I'm getting messages about them, especially naming my mutuals.
Go out, breathe some air, keep shipping them if that's your tea, but leave others alone; that's all.
