♦  when it comes to gift giving it’s usually offhanded like, “Yeah I saw it in the store and bought it, no big deal.”

♦  she’s pretty stubborn so getting her to do things is hard but she ends up doing them because it’s you, and she would do anything for even if she complains 70% of the time

Request Guidelines

Hello! My name is Mari Delia. I have been writing stories recreationally for four years now. I have recently started posting my stories since this year's March. I recently made this tumblr so that I have a place to post one-shots, headcanons, mini-series, and more. Now, my full series is over on Wattpad. Currently, I am making slow updates to that story since I am sick. We don’t exactly know what I am sick with, but it’s been going on for three years, which is why I am slow at writing. It’s why I started to post my writings, because there isn’t much I can do anymore. This at least gives me a sense of productivity through it all. In this post, I will go over the rules I have for requesting stories. I must say that I am very strict about these rules. I will also be going over which fandoms I write for. I will only accept requests for one-shots and headcanons.

My Rules

Rule #1: Understand that I have my own private life. I have a family to care for, a job to do, and, as previously stated, I am sick as well. I need to care for myself too, which is why I am slow at writing stories.

 Rule #2: I will not write about real people. As lovely as I think Pedro Pascal and Tom Hiddleston are, I don’t want to be writing about them. They’re real people with real lives, and some of those people aren’t comfortable with fanfiction being written about them. I feel like I would be speculating about their lives, invading their privacy, and we don’t always know if they’re comfortable with that. A character is one thing; a real person is another.

 Rule #3: I don’t really feel comfortable writing smut one-shots. Well, it’s not that I'm personally uncomfortable with it; I just don’t like writing smut one-shots. If I do post one, it was on my own account.

 Rule #4: I am more than fine with writing any pairing, although I will not write a trans character as my main character. I myself am not a transgender person, so I will not be able to truly understand their struggles. I do not want to offend anybody with that, but a lot of the stories I have written have had transgender characters in them; they're just not main characters. I don’t want to portray their struggles incorrectly or write falsely about those absolutely lovely people.

 Rule #5: You can use my ask box to send in requests because I’m pretty sure that it’s open. Make sure to specify which character from the list I have, what idea you have, and whatever else you think I should know about it. Whether it’s a ship or a reader insert

 Rule #6: I am open to trying basically any character pairing as long as it does not involve incest, minor, or adult relationships and follows my rules.

 Rule #7: I refuse to write scenes about the topics of rape, suicide, eating disorders, self-harm, heart attacks, strokes, or CPR. I am willing to write about these topics.

Analysis:

Rory overall was a combination of natural gifts, communication issues, commitment and a girl who faced very little criticism.

Rory's relationship with her mother Lorelai is the deepest defining connection. Her taste in media and food come from her mom, as well as her struggles to form competent romantic connections. Lorelai instilled an independent identity as well as a fun-loving idea and a love of laughter. Lorelai also shaped Rory by acting as much of a friend as a parental figure, part of this was having trouble ever telling Rory “no”, or that anything she did was wrong.

Rory grew up with a very strong extended family in the form of stars hollow. Mia was a grandmother figure more than Emily when Rory was very young. Sookie acted as an aunt figure to Rory often, was at all the parties, baked the birthday cakes etc. Lane was her very close friend throughout her childhood. Lane appreciated Rory and Lorelai as an escape from her strict home life. Rory was influenced her in musical taste by lane, as well as her seeming to be Rory’s only friend around her age in stars hollow.

Luke was a large part of Rory’s life way before he dated Lorelai, often playing a fatherly role. He consistently made meals, helped with birthdays, giving presents, taking care of Rory when she was ill, fixing up the girls house, being deeply protective and attending her big events. Rory struggled with her lack of a father but seemed to really appreciate luke even going to him when she was struggling during her and her mother’s fight. 

The rest of the town: Ms Patty, Babette Dell, Morey Dell, Fran Weston, Bootsy, Gypsy, Taylor Doose, Mrs Kim, Jackson Belleville, Andrew & Kirk Gleason were all very important in Rory’s upbringing teaching her different things, keeping her in books. The town at large loved Rory as a kid and into her adulthood. They all come to birthdays and throw her a bon-voyage party. 

Being surrounded by a large extended family in the form of the town gave Rory a kind of cushioned experience with how people treat one another. Even if she wasn't intensely popular at school the town at large prop her up, told her she was wonderful and basically never told her that she was wrong. She was the darling of everyone. Rory was deserving in some senses, she was kind and helped with the town but she struggled to learn how to deal with other people realistically, expecting things to always go well and others not to take advantage of her.

This along with being naturally gifted academically made it very hard for Rory to deal with any rejection, we see this when she isn’t perfect at college and then in extreme form with Mitchum Huntzburger.

Rory’s love life was a mess, Her relationship with Dean was fine enough in the beginning but Rory overlooked the part of that that weren’t healthy. The unhealthy behaviours grew overtime instead of exceeding good parts, this ultimately leading to them having an affair and dean hurting his wife. Her relationship with Jess started off as a kind of forbidden romance against the wishes of society byt their similar inability to express their wants and needs ending up leaving both of them heartbroken. Logan and her relationship was mostly healthy in terms of 3aking each other happy and was the best communication. In slightly less oductive he was also a large part in her embracing the white collar society vs the lifestyle of stars hollow. He also enables worse impulses though doesn't nesscary enforce then.

Rory slid into higher society better than her mother ever did. She was close to her grandparents than might have been healthy they expected a better Lorelai and in many ways, that’s what they got. Rory learned the functions well, attended elite schools and dated a Huntzberger. Rory, in the beginning, so conflicts averse she did as she was told, and then adopted much of that lifestyle by choice later. This society allowed her intellect to continue to be praised as well as her looks and luck of birth. 

Rory broke down twice around not living up to her and others expectation. The second time landing her in jail and listless in her purpose. This dates back to her never being told know and perfectionist tendencies.

Inbetween the end and AYTL we see she burned out early and was fine cheating on her boyfriend (who she treats real shitty) by sleeping with an ex who was engaged. She falls back on her most destructive tendencies forgetting that even with her natural gifts she had actually done the work when she was, young.

Overall Rory is generally kind and willing to help others, her lack of communication and relationship skills were often detrimental to her. Her overstated belief in her own raw talent and tendency to deny the obvious made her professional life struggle as well.

♣ you get a consecutive one hour of working in before he suggests that the two of you go get coffee (more than you expected honstly) ♣ he lets you order, pretends to point to something very interesting outside and pays for the food ♣ he also has the most satisfied smirk on his face as you tell him you're gonna pay him back ♣ "suureeee~" ♣ he also memorizes the drink you'd ordered and shows up to the lecture ten mintues before time just to give it to you and make small talk before the professor starts droning on about whatever's on the agenda that day

♣ once the assignement is finished (you and logan did most of the work) you expect to go back to sitting next to him in class for half the lecture and him leaving once he's bored ♣ like it was before ♣ and that does happen. sort of. ♣ except now everytime he leaves, logan sends you a message that afternoon asking for the notes on the lectures (he just wants an excuse to draw you out of your dorm to the nearby coffee stand)

♣ eventually, after he's spent an entire month making up the most ridiculous excuses for meeting up with you ♣ claimed he didn't understand a paragraph once—he was talking about a paragraph of his human recources class (this boy has no clue which book belongs to which subject) ♣ anyway, after a month of ridiculoussness that kinda makes you smile he's succesfully become a part of your everyday life. one day he's bringing you coffee, another he's asking you to meet up with him in the library to study ♣ so now that that part of his plan is successfull he finally asks you out.

Yeesh. Is this about the "Keg! Max!" incident? I don't have the energy to go into that whole thing right now, but I don't know a single person who thinks Jess's behavior there was OKAY... It was objectively Not Good. He should not have done that (and he knows that too), but I also think some people make it out to be something worse than it actually was. (PLEASE do not send me any indignant anon messages about how I'm "excusing" him or "saying it's ok." Please read and comprehend my actual words that I wrote.) Jess is not a perfect person. SURPRISE! He made mistakes and acted like a jerk sometimes, yeah. I don't think that makes him "anti feminist" though.

Or is this about Shane? Was he using her? Yeah. That's not great. Though it was strongly implied that she was using him as well, and neither of them were particularly emotionally invested in the relationship, so... But if we're comparing with Logan here, is anyone going to seriously claim that Logan didn't have maybe a dozen "Shanes" in his history? "I've told a lot of girls I loved them, and I didn't mean it." Logan said that. Which also means that Logan was lying to "a lot of girls" to, presumably, make them more willing to sleep with him (why else would he tell a girl he loved her if he didn't?). Jess may not have cared about Shane, but at least he didn't lie about it and tell her that he did. And at least he made a point of giving the girl he "didn't care about" an official breakup before even so much as kissing someone else (the literal girl of his dreams, at that), which is more than what Logan did for Rory!

Let's see, what else have I heard people express unwonted outrage about? Oh! Jess being freaked out by the woman breastfeeding in the diner? Ok, firstly, he was a teenage boy. Oh no, a teenage boy was acting immature! This is unheard of! Secondly, this was 2002, I think? American social mores about public breastfeeding have changed A LOT over the past twenty years. Jess's reaction was meant to be FUNNY, and it wouldn't have been all that surprising at the time (exaggerated for comedic value, too! Sometimes I think people forget this is a comedy?) And I can't compare this to Logan, because it never came up. But given the time period, I would be greatly surprised if he reacted with anything other than distaste or ridicule. Headcanons are fun, but you can't claim them as "facts."

Now! On to the good stuff. Jess was always very supportive of Rory's educational goals even though he didn't share them, and always expressed interest and encouragement about her career. He read Jane Austen on his own before he'd ever met Rory, and treated Paris like an intellectual equal. He made it quite evident that he disliked Dean's habit of speaking for Rory and made several pointed remarks expressing disdain and indignation at his perceived outdated views on gender roles. That doesn't sound anti-feminist to me!

As far as Logan goes, yeah, he also thought Rory was a smart go-getter, sure. But in addition to blaming the bridesmaids for his own behavior, he also repeated a misogynistic story (that turned out to be false) about Hemingway's wife and called her, I kid you not, "the silly woman." So... Yeah. Not exactly a flawless feminist hero himself.

Omg yes a Jess goes to Yale AU! I once made up this headcanon for this idea where Jess writes for the Yale News alongside Rory, so he somehow gets an entry to the whole "secret gathering" Logan and his pals have but goes with a different approach to it than Rory, as in he writes an In Opinion piece where he theorizes that it's actually a cult ritual and Logan and his gang are trying to do some ancient pagan stuff, which actually is more of a joke on his part but suddenly everyone tries to be in on it once they read the article, and people wind up thinking Logan and Co. are into doing sacrifices or some shit. Obviously it dies down pretty quickly but Jess displays through this the concept of how easily people can believe random hearsay, and technically they're not at fault because who knows what rich people do in their secret meetups anyway? Also a random idea I thought of is people thinking that Rory might be the sacrificial lamb to their antics once the article comes out and Rory spends the day plotting on how to get Jess back for this.

(2/2) Oh also regarding the Jess goes to Yale AU, I feel like his major would definitely have something to do with writing and English, and I have such a kick out of imagining him as the same freshman as Rory, being in the same class as when it comes to discussing different literature. Imagine him just giving Rory a wordless "are these people for real?" look whenever someone is going on and on about a book while being simultaneously wrong in their interpretation and Rory is just trying not to smile and be seriously considering said interpretation bc she's gotta say her part before Jess tries to fire back at it.
