Jason, age 12 at Ma Gunn’s school: This lady is trying to teach me how to be a criminal and use a gun? Horrible. I’m out of here. School sucks. I’d rather stay homeless.
Jason, age 18: Talia, give me more money so I can pay people to teach me how to be a criminal and use a gun better. I’m willing to live at crime school. Criminal education is great.

You know what's a better way for DC writers to paint Jason's Robin era as something other than calling him brash and reckless?
Having it be that he burned with a fire for justice hot enough that it was used to burn himself.
He cared about people, but saying that he treated Robin like it was a game and that's why he died is both inaccurate and gross victim blaming. He literally got tricked by his bio mom, who he knew was being blackmailed by the Joker. He wanted to trust and help her because she was his birth mom, and that ultimately ended badly for him. Plus, so many people brush over the fact that he was a fifteen-year-old with trauma relating to parental figures. His dad died in prison, his mom died when he was young, and his relationship with Bruce was rocky. Of course he's going to try and see the good in someone who he could have a parental relationship with.
So many writers love to ignore/retcon that part of the story because they want to paint Jason as the black sheep of the family. He was the one who died and it was his fault; it's easier to paint him that way rather than explore the nuance of his relationship with authority figures and trust. Plus, writers use it as a way to prop up Bruce's tragedy narrative, even though it was Jason that died.
People forget or don't know that Jason's characterization was butchered by inconsistent writing. One issue had him beating criminals hard enough to be benched and then another had him literally wanting to stay in to do extra credit homework.
Towards the end of his Robin era, he definitely exhibited more emotional issues that stemmed from unresolved issues. But blaming a fifteen-year-old for his own death is wrong. He was just doing what he was taught, which was to help those in need and Sheila Haywood was that someone. She took advantage of that.
Was he emotional? Sure, but what teenager isn't? Hell, calling him the angry Robin ignores the fact that Dick literally created the role to enact justice against his own parent's murders.
But more than that, he was a kid that was still good at the end of the day. He stole only because he was desperate and wanted to survive; he enacted rules that protected kids from being preyed upon by drug pushers during his Red Hood debut; he killed because he knew first-hand how damaging it was for his perpetrator to still be around to do more harm. Is he right in that? That's another issue of debate entirely, especially with comic world logic.
But calling him brash and reckless and that's why he died is inaccurate and a disservice to his character. Because at the end of the day, he was a child who burned with the desire to provide justice to those who needed it, and that was used against him.

I just want Peri to go back and be Devs babysitter. Knowing Dev lost his memories and trying to do right by this kid. Trying so hard to not make the same mistakes.
But I also want Dev to be scared to tell Peri he remembers because what if Peri has to leave then or if Jorgon comes to actually wipe his memories. Ao Dev doing his best to act like he did before he had his change of heart.
Basically Peri desperately trying to be a better god parent and Dev desperately (and failing) to be a bad ungrateful kid. (It’s how he sees his past actions)
Then we get guilt of Peri seeing how much of Devs happiness was lost with his memories and how much of a set back this is gor Dev while Dev seeing how mean he is to Peri and how miserable he is making him, which is worse this time because hes doing it on purpose. Dev now knowing Peri really does care but feels forced to be mean so not to slip up and loose Peri again. And Peri now having seen how bad at this he is. Seeing how he is still failing Dev at every turn. But neither willing to give up the other because they know what could have been. Peri knows Dev is a good kid. Dev knows Peri cares about him.

I'm always thinking about Jason because fixation so my judgement is biaised because every song I listen to makes me think about at least one of my Jasons, but here are some songs though were definitely written for and about canon Jason Todd, and I will take no criticism (but you are definitely welcome to add your own songs):
-Take me To War, by The Crane Wives
>"But I keep snapping at Goliath hands with all of my tiny might"/ "All of the fire I swallowed, all of the sparks that went down in my guts, I am always burning out"/ "I'll be the sweetest thing to ever scare you"
The Robin -> Red Hood transition is so seamless
-Little Soldiers by the Crane Wives
> "On the broken back of all the words we spared, Like little soldiers in the trenches; It was a march we made towards ruin and despair, But we held hands all the while"
I always rant about how how Jason's character and story is centered around love, this is the song that plays in my head while I'm yapping
-Blue Lips by Regina Spektor
> "He took a step but then felt tired, He said I'll rest a little while; but when he tried to walk again, he wasn't a child"
If you ever wanna be sad about Jason's resurrection, catatonia and stolen childhood, this is the song to listen to
-The Horrors and The Wild by The Amazing Devil
"Think of all the horrors that I promised I'd bring, I promise they'll sing of every Time you passed your fingers through my hair and called me child, Witness me old man I am the Wild"
> If Under The Red Hood has one song it's this one
-The Old Witch Sleep and The Good Man Grace by The Amazing Devil
"There's a fire burning/And I'm learning to be/So much more than my tiredness/ So much more than that old witch sleep wishes/ She kisses my eyelids, and I/Breathe"
> If Red Hood: Lost Days (minus the gross bits) has one song it's this one
-Elsa's song by The Amazing Devil
>"And you'll throw some sage and lillies/ And roses where I'll rot/ Of all the flowers you picked/I knew you would forget/ Forget-me-nots"
idk who Elsa is this is about how Jason was grieved but he wasn't remembered
(Yeah I'm pretty convinced that at least either Madeline Hyland or Joey Batey read Under the Red Hood so many of their songs fit so well I restrained myself to three but there are so many)
-A Burning Hill by Mitski
>"I'm tired of wanting more, I think I'm finally worn/ For you have a way of promising things/ And I've been a forest fire"
Jason admitting loss and giving up on begging Bruce is something that can be so personal actually
-Heaven Knows by The Pretty Reckless
>"Now you're on your knees with your head hung low/ Big Man tell you where to go/ Tell them it's good, tell them okay/Don't do a goddamn thing they say"
Crime Alley united!!! Also, "tell the big guy I said hello" :))) (the God/Batman amalgam in Death in the Family is such an incredible one-liner and works so well for Jason omg)
-For the Departed by Shayfer James
>"Now I must finished what I started/I'll write a symphony for the departed/And I have no time for second chances/ So I survive on bourbon blood and backward glances"
The amount of angst, dramatics and intense devotion to his cause at the cost of his life, the literature references, everything about this song? Jason at his angstiest for sure
-Goodbye by Bo Burnham
> "If I wake up in a house that's full of smoke I'll panic/So call me up and tell me a joke/ When I'm fully irrelevant and totally broken dammit/ Call me up and tell me a joke /Oh shit/ You're really joking at a time like this"
exploded warehouse parallel aside, this song feels like not being able to heal because you're not capable of asking for what you really need, wanting to come back but feeling like you aren't allowed to because it would ruin you or the you that was shaped by other's perception of you and most importantly, begging to matter and to have mattered. So. Jason.

Wait, wait, I'm having thoughts about the first time Festus came back online while Leo was building the ship.
Leo must have been so scared and excited and breathless as he connected the last wires or whatever repairs the dragon needed.
Do you think Piper and Jason were there too? Would Leo have asked them to come because he wanted to share the moment with them? Would they have asked Leo themselves when he'd be back?
Were they there staying behind Leo, holding each other's hands and squeezing Leo's shoulders with their free ones in support? Did Leo shut the panel to Festus's control disc and wait with held breath for his lost friend to come back to life? When he finally did, did Leo leap up in exhilaration, wrapping himself around the dragon's head and lifting him up and throwing them both into Jason and Piper's arms?
Or was Leo too afraid to ask them, afraid they'd say no, that they didn't care as much as he did? Afraid that they'd be there and it wouldn't work and he'd failed them and Festus all at once? Was he afraid that they'd come but when he was deliriously happy, they'd be happy for him too, but not truly understand it, and he'd stand there, knowing that he was alone while standing in front of the people he loved most in the world?
Would he have rather done it when it was just him in the bunker, when it was dark and quiet, and he was alone but not lonely?

Do not seek him out. You remain unavenged.
In the beginning, Jason viewed Talia’s words as the fire that forged the knife point of his rage and shaped a quest for revenge.
With time and space, and after a lot of bruises, he came to appreciate Talia’s words for the warning they truly were. An attempt to impart insight that while Jason was alive, his life, his old life, was still over. That he’d changed so much, he no longer fit into the place he used to fill. And that the safety he used to find there had never been real.
But that understanding came later, after time, and space, and a lot of bruises.

Jason.

Determined to find answers, Bruce sets out to find the culprit, only to be left with a trail of clues in the form of geocaches that provide more questions than answers.

there is something so underlyingly awful about riley going into the portal to me. not letting rex grow up into the man he likes being. making him stay a child forever, because seeing him develop different ideals and distancing himself from riley is too painful for her. the opposite of if you love something set it free

in the marketing for interstellar, matt damon wasn't mentioned at all and when the movie came out him being in it was a total surprise
...highkey hoping NSS is doing the same thing with alex, because if they put erin yvette in the voice cast post today it would've been huge spoilers if alex IS in lost signals
