NarutoRox: “It’s the Little Things in Life” (Bucky/Tony) • Though Barnes had been living in the tower for almost six months now, things between him and Tony were still a bit awkward. Which is why Tony is a tad confused when Barnes starts leaving him strange little gifts.

Tahlruil: “What Has Been Done” (Bucky/Tony) Bucky has lived with the Avengers for a while now, and he's mostly settled in. During the process, he fell for Tony Stark - hard - but he can't quite bring himself to admit it to the brilliant engineer. So he just does what he can to take care of and protect him, hoping that maybe the other man will fall just as hard for him... and be the one to take their relationship to the next level. In the meantime, he's noticed that there's one member of the team that Tony seems afraid of, and he is definitely not pleased by the notion. Once he finds out what Wanda did to cause that fear, she might wish she'd never left Hydra.

Withered: “Fresh out the freezer” (Bucky/Tony) • Listen; he’s not a total asshole. Tony figures that the guy whose brain has been scrambled since the forties might have some tender sensibilities and he tones down a lot out of respect for that. It’s sweet. But ultimately unnecessary when all Bucky’s been thinking about is bending Tony over the nearest table.

Finely Honed (jaqen_hgar): “Grown Ass Man” (Bucky/Tony) • Tony Stark looks self-conscious, and it takes Bucky a stupid amount of time to figure out that’s even what he’s seeing on the guy’s face, because he’s never seen it there before. “Sorry, shoulda knocked.” Which, yeah, he should have, but he was used to rolling into the workshop whenever he felt like it. He certainly hadn’t expected to find a shirtless Tony Stark in the process of doing something with the arc reactor. And sure, he’s staring, has been staring this whole time, right from the moment he’d walked in, because this is the first he’s actually seeing the arc reactor.

Potrix: “Paths Are Made by Walking” (Bucky/Tony) • The road to recovery is long, winding and a different one for every person walking it. Bucky chooses to help himself the only way he knows how; by doing what he does best. Or, alternatively; the one in which Tony is a mess and accidentally kick-starts Bucky’s protective mother hen instincts.

Potrix: “Flirting (with danger)” (Bucky/Tony) • Tony stares at the man shackled to the wall for a long, unblinking moment. “You’re supposed to be dead.” The man raises an unimpressed eyebrow back at him. “Right back at ya, pal.”

RayShippouUchiha: “The Great Awakening (To Hold Infinity)” (Bucky/Tony) • Constellations wheel around in Tony’s mind at night, illuminating his sleep with the beauty of a supernova, the terrible gaping hunger of black holes, the whimpering cry of a nebula as it births new stars into creation. All of Space laid out for him to marvel at. Tony learns and learns and learns and then he creeps downstairs and babbles relentlessly to his first and only friend. All the while the Cube hums, just a bit smug, just a bit loving, and shows him more.

Monyas: “Bad Scoping Mechanisms Series” (Bucky/Tony) (part of a series - there's 2 more fics here) Like, the general public hates Tony Stark for having been a weapons manufacturer but actually he was pretty popular while he was still in the weapons industry so one wonders, who would have been a fan of Stark Industries before Afghanistan? Military, alphabet agencies, private security, hitmen and assassins? …Hydra assassins? -In which the Winter Soldier, aka Bucky Barnes, is an avid fan of Tony Stark for reasons.-

Finely Honed (jaqen_hgar): “Sometimes Life Happens” (Bucky/Tony) • Tony hadn’t necessarily been looking for further proof of his maladjusted—one might even argue self-destructive—approach to problems, but sometimes life happened, and you didn’t have any choice but to take a long, hard look at yourself. Sometimes, you’re sitting in your car, staring into your recently emptied coffee cup, contemplating whether or not you really want to do this whole “leading a responsible life” thing anymore, and a guy with a gun slides into your passenger seat. Sometimes, that’s just the way your Monday goes.

Ceealaina: “He's Got a Secret” (Bucky/Tony) • Tony snorted. “Are you planning to rent out the Met? I mean, I’m not saying no, the look on his face would be hilarious. But otherwise, I think we can probably make whatever you want to do work with less lead time. We’ve got almost eight months, and I am very, very rich.” Bucky stopped rubbing Tony’s shoulder, ignoring his faint noise of protest. “Eight months?” he repeated. “What are you talking about?” Tony frowned at him. “It’s November.” “Yeah.” “Steve’s birthday is in July.” “Steve’s birthday is when now?” Based on that tumblr post about Steve's birthday not ACTUALLY being July 4, and Steve being in too deep to tell the truth.

RiotFalling: “When is a bed not a bed? (When you’re not in it)” (Bucky/Tony) There’s a tiny safe house, with one tiny window and one tiny couch. And one tiny little bed.

RiotFalling: “Melt into Me (Your Words Are My Own)” (Bucky/Tony) • Bucky has a new strategy for getting Tony to take proper human care of himself. Tony has never been so well fed, hydrated, thoroughly rested, and confused in all his life.  That doesn’t mean he wants it to stop, and it’s amazing how many boring adult things Bucky can get him to do just by patting his head and calling him ‘good boy’. Right up until Tony possibly ruins everything.

RiotFalling: “Hey Tony” (Bucky/Tony) • Steve points out that Bucky never calls Tony by his actual name. Bucky doesn’t believe him, until he does.

RiotFalling: “Show Tunes and Extra Sauce” (Bucky/Tony) • So maybe three years in Bucky is completely in love, and this might be his first bodyguard gig but he's pretty sure that's breaking Rule One. It's definitely one of the top five rules, at the very least. He can't even be surprised with himself either, not when it's Tony. Bucky’s job is basically to hang out with his crush all the time, and sure sometimes he gets shot or stabbed or has to physically drag Tony out of his lab when he starts sleep-deprived-rambling about building some piece of tech from a scifi movie, but most days Bucky doesn't have a single thing to complain about. And then there's Valentine's Day.

InTheShadows: “Nothing More Deceptive” (Bucky/Tony) • When Tony enters the kitchen he is focused on one thing and one thing only - coffee. What he isn't expecting is Barnes to already be in there. What he really isn't expecting is a sassy, verbal Barnes. The man hasn't said a word since he entered the Tower as far as Tony knows. And what he most certainly isn't expecting if for it to become a tradition of late night meetings, flirting and fun that seems to be headed for something more. Right? (What if it's all in Tony's head after all?)

This is a fill for the WinterIron Gets It Done Bingo September Classic Card - Square 4: “This is Avengers business, ma’am.”

Rating: General Pairing: Tony/Bucky Tags: Established Relationship, Food as a Love Language, Going Above and Beyond Summary: Tony goes the distance to bring his boyfriend a fondly-remembered treat. Word Count: 320

The woman behind the counter, eyes wide with shock and a touch of fear, watched as Tony clanked into her bakery. He reflected that Iron Man was probably the last customer she expected to see in this quiet Bucharest neighborhood, and therefore of concern. “Uh, how can I help you?” she asked, JARVIS providing the translation.

“I’m here on official Avengers business, ma’am,” Tony replied, pausing to let JARVIS repeat his words in the woman’s native language. “You have nothing to fear. I simply wish to buy some papanași. With plum jam, if you have it.”

For a moment, he wondered if he’d gotten the address wrong, as her expression shifted to one of confusion. But then she asked, “How many?”

Tony looked in the display case; here were a half-dozen of the round pastries each topped with what looked like a donut hole. They were just like Bucky had fondly described them. “All of them, if I may,” he replied; after all, he wanted to try one or two himself. “I’ll be taking them with me and traveling some distance.”

She looked the armor up and down, one corner of her mouth quirking up. “I see.” She wrapped each pastry in waxed paper and placed them in a box, then turned around and plucked a jar off the shelf, tucking it in next to the papanași before tying the box closed with string and handing it to him. “With my compliments, Iron Man.”

“That is very generous of you. But please, allow me to pay.” Tony handed over several bills; more than enough to cover the price of the pastries and jar of jam twice over, according to JARVIS. “For your kindness to a stranger.”

She let the bills sit on the counter for a moment, then picked them up. “The Avengers are no strangers.”

Tony smiled, even though he knew she couldn’t see it. “I didn’t mean me.”

Did you write the Tony Stark wifi tower fic?

yes, i wrote that fic! it is by far the most popular thing i've ever written and it will probably outlive me.

I found that fic on [insert site here], do they have your permission?

probably not, no. i have found that fic everywhere. and i mean everywhere. pinterest, wattpad, facebook, instagram, tiktok, mediachomp, and so on. honestly, it's been years and i can't control or chase down every single copy and i have no interest in doing so. i don't love that it was stolen from me (especially on for-profit sites) but it just is what it is. it's a fanfic rite of passage to have your stuff stolen, honestly.

can i do a translation/podfic/write something inspired by one of your fics/posts?

yes! there is always a blanket permission to do any sort of transformative work with my work, especially my older stuff. if it sparks joy and creativity in you, run wild with it. i prefer to be credited, but honestly, i'm just happy to see my stuff still inspiring people.

will you ever write winteriron/mcu fanfic again?

well, you should never say never. but in this case, you might want to say never. i have very little interest in winteriron or the mcu in general outside of nostalgia, and i likely will never write anything substantial for them again. it's sad, i miss it too, but i just don't have that spark for marvel these days. mostly i write dc comics fanfiction.

did you write [insert winteriron fic/post here]?

idk. maybe. probably. i wrote and posted a lot of things. you can scroll the tag on this blog to find all my old posts, some more popular than others. if you think it was me, chances are, it probably was. i got around a lot from like 2018 to 2020.

do you have a tagging system?

i used to but lord if i'm going to use it now. i don't even remember it, so your guess is as good as mine. tbh i just use tags as a place to ramble these days so navigating my blog is about as easy for you as it is for me. which is to say, it's not easy at all. because tumblr's search function is ass. i do know one of my old tags has my deadname in it. you'll probably find it if you look hard enough, but that is what it is.

are you going to revive this blog?

probably not consistently, no. if i have something i really want to say here, i'll say it, but i don't have much interest in maintaining this like i used to. i want to be able to, i miss posting here a lot, i just don't think it'll spark joy for me the way it used to, which sucks but that's just the way things go.

why did you leave this blog?

idk. life happened. i was an 18-year-old fighting chronic health conditions and mental health issues that led to me dropping out of high school so, tumblr sort of fell to the back burner, then got forgotten about entirely. eventually, i lost interest in the mcu as i felt the quality of it took a turn for the worst and i went back to dc, which i'm still into. i read some marvel comics, enjoy an occasional mcu project, but largely i just don't have the interest i used to. it sucks and i miss it, this blog probably kept me alive as a teenager. but now it's mostly just an archive of my past, and i'm okay with that.

can i talk to you/send you an ask/befriend you anyway?

Hello! Long time no see. I’m back in the world of searching for roleplay partners now my life has calmed down a little and I have a lovely work from home job. I currently have one long term writing partner (writing together for probably about 4 years now… jeez) but I’d love to expand my horizons. It depends really, it definitely has its place. If I were to ever write dialogue in another language though it would be in Latin for the exorcists AU, I don't think I'll have the need to write dialogue in another language apart from that instance.

One Piece, I was a very small child and writing about being a pirate.

20. favorite fic you've written?

I Would Rip My Teeth Out For You, it was the first fic I wrote for COD and it holds a special place in my heart, I also like the dynamic between Soap and Ghost in it.

Right now it's mainly various Kdramas (The Devil Judge, Black Knight, plus my bold venture into Strangers From Hell) but, before that, it was mostly The Losers, Marvel, Pacific Rim, and Teen Wolf. With the occasional detour here and there.

It's honestly a little wild to me that Who Holds the Devil has somehow managed to race to the top despite the other fics being at least four years older (sometimes more). And for a much bigger fandom, at that. You guys are not fucking around.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do! Every single one if I can, though it can sometimes take a while before I get to all of them. And I just can't help it, I guess? Partly because I want to show that I've read the comment and appreciate the time and effort that went into writing it, but also because it often gives me an opportunity to talk about my writing and the choices I made in the fic.

And, apparently, the fact that I reply to all comments has become a bit of a thing at least when it comes to Who Holds the Devil, where readers will search through my replies looking for tidbits and extra information about the fic, characters etc.

What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Grief (The Losers (Comics)). Because it is, predictably, about grief and how to keep living after someone you love has died. Though I would argue that the ending has a hint of hopefulness to it since it's also about moving on from said grief?

But yeah. Definitely that one since it's Major Character Death that I choose not to fix.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Literally every single fic except for the one above xD I LOVE my happy endings, okay? And it's kind of difficult to rank them since it depends a lot on the setting, characters, and the personal preference of the reader.

Heck, I even managed to give my Strangers From Hell fanfic a sugary sweet happy ending! That's dedication right there!

Do you get hate on fics?

Yeah, from time to time. I've gotten everything from childish insults calling me a bad writer to backhanded comments questioning my choices, writing style, grammar, spelling, dedication, intelligence, etc. I've even received more targeted, personal hate where people I thought I could trust were making fun of me behind my back in private chat rooms.

Most recently, though, it's less hate and more the "I simply must tell you that you're not writing this fic as I want you to write it" type of deal. Often paired with "It's my personal opinion and I have every right to express it." Which, fair enough. But that means I get to do the same, which I've noticed is something those kinds of commenters kind of hate. Especially when I point out that they've now made me a lot less keen to write the fanfic they're supposedly so fond of.

Turns out people don't like being reminded that their actions have consequences.

All in all, though, I've learned to just delete the comments I find too offensive or hateful.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Oh god no. Sex scenes are the bane of my existence and I spend the entire time writing them looking like this: ლ(ಥ益ಥლ)

I've been told I'm not bad at writing them (the ones in Until Death Do Us Unite were quite appreciated) but anything involving sex or sexual tension is just a nightmare for me. Even more so when it's supposed to be kinky or extra spicy.

So why is one of the main ships I write for right now clearly a Dom/sub ship, you ask?

Because I'm an idiot. That's why.

Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you've written?

I rarely do. The only crossover I've written is Resurrection where Derek Hale ends up in Purgatory together with Dean Winchester and they fight their way back to the world of the living (so Derek replaces Benny, basically).

I also have this one random fic (yet unposted) where Tony Stark and Eddie Brock are a couple (from the MCU and Venom movies, that is). But they're technically both in the Marvel universe so I'm not sure if that counts?

Long story short, crossovers aren't really my thing. I rarely write or read them.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of, no.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

I have! Several, in fact, from various fandoms. Mostly into Russian, Spanish, or Mandarin. And I am honestly so flattered every time someone asks me if they can translate one of my fics 💜

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I have not, no. I made plans to write a fic with a friend once, but we never got to the point of actually writing it. And, in all honesty, I think that might be just as well. I'm a perfectionist and writing a fic with me would probably be very exhausting for the other party xD

I really don't know. Like, I'm tempted to say Jensen and Cougar from The Losers, or maybe Destiel or Stony, but I think that's partly founded in comfort and nostalgia. My ships change as I do and I really can't pinpoint an all-time favourite.

But CURRENT favourite? Definitely Kang Yo Han and Kim Ga On because they present such a wonderful challenge to someone like me, who loves to go real deep into character motivations, behaviour etc. They're a delight.

What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I'm not sure. I plan to finish all the ones I've started posting but there might be some in my folders that I'll decide to abandon if I truly can't revive my interest in them. But, usually, I can.

And, speaking of that, to all my MCU peeps (if there are any of you still out there): I know you've waited six years for the Tech Support sequel but it's finally been written and just needs to be edited. It's coming, my darlings. I promise.

Basically, when I say I'll do something, I will do it — even if it takes me six goddamn years, apparently x'D

What are your writing strengths?

Characters, tone, and emotions. I'm good at capturing the essence of the characters and write them in a way that feels believable and close to canon. I'm also really good at making people feel things with my writing, I've been told. According to testimonials, my readers can often see what's happening play out inside their heads like a movie, and feel the characters' emotions as they're living through them.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Aside from the aforementioned sex scenes? I think it's my inability to keep things short. I use a lot of unnecessary words and could definitely get better at being more concise. In a similar vein, I sometimes focus so much on the details with lengthy, wordy descriptions that I accidentally forget about the big picture, which is understandably confusing to my readers.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I've done it from time to time (since my man Cougar speaks Spanish) but I'm pretty careful with it. And if it's longer sentences I always make sure to double-check with a native speaker.

First fandom you wrote for?

Teen Wolf! Which, admittedly, was because I didn't care if I fucked it up x'D I enjoyed the first two seasons of Teen Wolf, make no mistake! But I chose it mainly because it wasn't the ship I was the most emotionally invested in and so I figured it wouldn't feel as bad if it turned out that I sucked. Luckily enough for me, I didn't xD

Favourite fic you've written?

Just like with the all-time favourite ship, I'm not sure if I can answer this one. Because I like all of my fics but in different ways.

I'll always have a fondness for that first huge Teen Wolf series I wrote, for example, and had a lot of fun with Autonomy because of the world-building. Same goes with Hyperborean. But Who Holds the Devil is definitely my favourite when it comes to character work. While Allies is my favourite when it comes to tone, since it ended up just the way I wanted it to. And Until Death Do Us Unite was an absolute BLAST because I got to write horror and some really weirdass shit, which I've never done before.

So, truly, I can't say. Each one I've written has something I cherish and while some definitely stand out more than others, I wouldn't be able to just pick one.

Summary: As a Beta, Steve might be able to read Bucky’s body language, but he can’t smell the sour, panicked scent basically rolling off of him, growing stronger and thicker by the second. Tony can, though, and he doesn’t even think before he moves closer to Barnes, led by basic instinct more than anything else. He ignores Steve’s concerned, “Tony,” as he comes to a stop only inches away from Barnes, and waits until Barnes meets his eyes before he bares his neck in invitation.

Reasons why I love it: Short and sweet, this fic is one that I always return to for a little pick-me-up. Bucky getting the comfort he deserves just warms my heart, especially when it's Tony offering it. Throw in some A/B/O dynamics and I'm a goner. A wonderful fic, definitely check it out!

Reasons why I love it: I'm a sucker for soulmate fics, and this one is no exception. Give me all the meet-cute, protective Bucky and little shit Tony shenanigans! One little warning though that Tony is underage when he starts dating Bucky, but they wait until he's of age for any below the belt touching. If that's not a squick for you, I'm sure you'll love this fic as much as I do!

Reasons why I love it: I have a soft spot for Bucky being a motherhen and making Tony take better care of himself. This fic embodies all of that for me. And the pining is so sweet, it makes my teeth ache. A wonderful fic that I'd recommend to anyone who likes these boys being idiots in love!

“When you told me you’d dressed up as ‘armed and dangerous,’ this wasn’t exactly what I had in mind,” Bucky said, yawning as he perched up on his elbows, the mattress shifting under his weight. He had been in bed for the evening, which meant he was wearing only a pair of boxers. A thin bed sheet slipped down his bare chest as he moved. “Halloween is still a few months away,” Bucky continued, rubbing sleep from his eyes.

At the foot of the bed stood Tony, dressed up as some sort of biker…vampire? When he grinned, fake pointed incisors flashed in the bedroom light. “Just got back from that theater screening of Lost Boys. We sang all the songs even though there aren’t any, then fought in some wild undead.” Tony narrowed his eyes as he pretended to look angry and gnashed his teeth.

Tilting his head, Bucky took in his boyfriend's performance, along with his tight leather pants and torn white t-shirt. Glimpses of abs teased through the fabric. “I only understood about half of those words. Are you supposed to be an angry cabaret dancer?”

Tony shook his head. “Movie. Hot boys. Vampires. Horny.”

Bucky sat up fully on the bed; the sheet fell down to his hips. “Well, those words I fully understand. Come here, darlin’.”

Tony’s menacing expression morphed into a wide grin. He enthusiastically jumped on the bed, straddling Bucky. Bucky let his arms come around Tony’s waist to rest where his ass pushed against tight leather pants, his metal hand adding extra power to his squeeze. Tony moaned across Bucky’s skin, and he felt when Tony’s vampire teeth found his neck, lightly biting a line of kisses down past his shoulder and over his pec muscle. 

“You beat all those fake vampires, sweetheart?” Bucky whispered, the spark from Tony’s lips causing his hips to thrust up into leather pants. 

“You know it.”

Bucky squeezed again, grinding their hips together. “Sounds like someone deserves a reward.”

“I’ve come here ‘armed and dangerous’ to collect just that.”

Bucky flipped them over with superhuman speed, pinning Tony beneath him. “You’ve come to the right place.” He crashed their lips together, and Bucky discovered he had quite a thing for pointed teeth, ripped t-shirts and tight pants. Especially, when they were on Tony.

“Tell me you didn’t buy that.”

Tony doesn’t look over at Pepper as he says, “No, I just walked out of the gallery last night with a twelve-foot painting in my pants. Sure, people questioned it, but I just told them it was my-”

“Stop,” Pepper cuts him off, a pained look on her face as she steps up beside him in front of the massive painting. ”Why did you buy this?“ She asks, side-eyeing him, ” You don’t even like abstract art.“

”I might like it,“ Tony says defensively, shooting her a quick glare before his eyes are drawn back to the painting. ”I just… I like the colors,“ he finally says helplessly, “for some reason I feel like I could stare at it all day…”

His voice trails off as he once again lets himself get lost in the swirling and shifting blues that make up the entire painting. The longer he stares the more different shades he finds, his gaze tracing every brushstroke and the way they transfer from one shade of blue to the next. It’s almost familiar, but he can’t quite put his finger on why…

”Really,“ Pepper says, so flatly that Tony almost looks over at her.

He can feel the pointed stare that she’s fixing on the side of his head, though, and finally he sighs out, “What?”

“You really don’t see it?” She asks skeptically, “Really?”

It takes a second for Tony to tear his eyes away from the beautiful blues so he can finally look over at her as he asks, “See what?”

Pepper raises a single eyebrow at him, like the answer should be so obvious.

“What,” he asks defensively, and then makes an impatient sound when she continues to stare at him. "Come on, just tell me, is it a magic-eye type thing? Is there a subliminal dick, what?"

Her eyes narrow, like she’s trying to figure out if he’s joking, and then she shakes her head as she sighs, “Never mind, I’m not touching this. You don’t pay me enough, and you couldn’t pay me enough to deal with this.”

“What is that supposed to mean?” Tony calls after her as she stomps out of the penthouse, “You can’t just say that and then leave! Pepper!”

She does leave though, still shaking her head and muttering to herself. As soon as the elevator doors close behind her Tony’s eyes are drawn back to the painting.

“What does she know,” he grumbles, crossing his arms over his chest.

He tips his head from side to side, squints one eye closed, but he can’t spot whatever the hell made her react like that. It’s just an average too-big abstract painting, the kind Tony usually would have walked right by in his quest for more hors d'oeuvres, but the colors had pulled him up short.

Something about all the mixing and swirling blues still has his heart beating a little faster in his chest, even now. It feels… safe, but also exciting, almost hypnotic somehow, and Tony hadn’t been joking about his desire to stare at it all day.

JARVIS has to snap him out of his daze when it’s time for team training, and Tony hurries to the gym before he can get another lecture from the super captain.

Over the next week, Tony spends more time than he’ll admit just standing in front of the painting, staring at all the shades of blue. He’s almost late for two meetings, actually late for a third, and when Thursday rolls around Clint has to come find him for team movie night.

“Is this about your new painting?” Clint is already demanding loudly as he steps off the elevator, and Tony jumps guiltily.

“No,” he says quickly, even though he’s definitely just staring at the painting where it's still leaning against the fireplace.

“Wow, Bruce said you were being so weird about it,” Clint says with a laugh, “and he likes art, but this is just-”

His voice cuts off in a strangled sound as he steps around into view of the painting, and Tony looks over at him in concern. Clint blinks at the canvas, glances up at Tony, back to the painting, and then he starts laughing. Hard.

"Wh- What?" Tony demands in an angry sputter, “Why are you- Steve did the same thing, what the hell is so funny?!”

Clint wheezes out a couple of attempts at words around more laughter and then shakes his head, clutching his stomach as he doubles over.

"Just tell me," Tony pleads, trying to keep a whine out of his voice as he follows Clint back towards the elevator, “otherwise I’m going to think this is all a conspiracy and that nothing is actually funny about my new painting.”

“And you don’t even see it!” Clint crows, wiping actual tears from his eyes.

"See what?!"

“No, I’m not telling you,” Clint says with a happy sigh, slumping against the elevator panel and hitting a bunch of buttons with his shoulder, “this is too good, you are so dumb sometimes.”

Tony considers kicking him. He also considers just not dealing with this, skipping movie night and heading back upstairs to stare at his painting, but he knows he’ll never live that down.

“Conspiracy,” Tony grumbles, facing forward and glaring at nothing as the doors open on the gym floor for no reason.

He decides to do research.

Sam also finds the painting inexplicably hilarious, and Rhodey refuses to comment when Tony sends him a picture. He asks Natasha what she thinks and she stares at the canvas for several long minutes before fixing Tony with a look that’s somehow equal parts judging and pitying.

None of them will actually tell him what’s so funny though, and Tony jumps between being annoyed and extremely concerned.

He’s leaning more towards concerned at the moment, as he stands in front of the painting, hands on his hips.

It would probably be less weird if he would hang the thing somewhere, he can admit, but he can’t decide. And he likes the fact that with the painting just leaning against the fireplace, he can stand directly in front of it and let it take up his entire field of view. Nothing but gorgeous, shifting blues.

When the elevator doors open Tony looks over just long enough to see that it’s Bucky walking into the penthouse. He doesn’t think that he’s missing any team activities, or his and Bucky’s bi-weekly sci-fi night, but he has been pretty distracted lately.

“Hey Doll,” Bucky says in greeting, and for once Tony is too busy to worry about what the petname does to his chest, “Steve said you need to talk to me?”

“Do I?” Tony asks distractedly.

“You tell me,” Bucky says with a huff of laughter, coming to a stop beside the painting and glancing over at it. “Nice painting,” he adds easily, without a hint of laughter or teasing.

Tony jerks his gaze over to meet Bucky’s with a start, surprised to find someone else who doesn’t see whatever is so funny, and- oh-

Oh.

The blue of Bucky’s eyes somehow exactly matches every shade in the painting, familiar and almost hypnotic, and no wonder Tony has been so caught up in the urge to stare at it for hours. He really is so stupid sometimes.

"I’m a moron," Tony groans, dropping his face into his hands. How could he develop a crush and then project it onto a painting without even noticing, no wonder everyone has been laughing at him-

“What?”

“What?” Tony replies automatically even as his head jerks up and how had he half-forgotten that Bucky is here. His gorgeous eyes are fixed on Tony, the shades of blue shifting as his expression wavers between confusion and amusement. Tony’s heart starts beating double time in his chest, and somehow all he can think to do is blurt out, “Uh, hi.”

“Hi,” Bucky says back, his voice fond as a warm smile curls his lips.

Bucky dropped unceremoniously into the chair beside Tony, followed by a long sigh. Tony rolled his eyes knowingly and continued his work, not giving Bucky the attention he so clearly wanted.

It had become a sort of back-and-forth between them as their friendship blossomed. Both men enjoyed the easy banter and playful snark, it all accompanied by an underlying mutual respect and admiration. They chose to leave those things mostly unsaid though, afraid of what other feelings might come to light if they chose to open that particular flood gate.

who is the man " who's owned buckys heart since he was fourteen?" i never read that series for that reason i cant stand reading a winteriron fic with bucky in love with other man who isnt tony

That would be Alexander Pierce, the primary villain of the Sandbridge series! Bucky is sort of quietly in "love" with him (it really doesn't come up too much until Pierce shows up and Bucky realizes that he's not, actually, in love with Pierce at all) for about the first third of the first fic, Safe and (the) Sound, and then there's some flashbacks in A Tree Grows in Williamsburg with Bucky and Pierce together (in which Pierce is clearly a manipulative asshat gaslighting Bucky from the very beginning). Pierce comes back several times in various other fics just to be a dick; do read each fic's tags and warnings!

Though if you don't like seeing Bucky in a relationship with anyone else, you probably want to skip That Special Someone (which is way down the list), in which a previous lover of Bucky's makes an appearance and causes some trouble. (They're not at all together in the fic, but there are frequent references to that previous relationship, and there's a non-romantic flashback that includes their meeting.)

Oh, and there are occasional mentions throughout the series that Bucky once had a one night stand with Thor, but Thor is Sandbridge's cheerful himbo aromantic slut who never sleeps with anyone more than once, so it's not love or a relationship at all. If that's going to bother you then yeah, you might want to give the whole series a miss. No fic is for everyone! :D

(I know I said "why even follow me if you haven't read Sandbridge" but that was just a joke, just because it's the most popular winteriron thing I've ever had a hand in.)

Totally not someone that plans. I’ll have a scene or two, and a handful of characters, and I build stories off of that.

Usually this works out very well, as you know. Things tend to fall into place in a backwards sense.

So I just went diving through my bookmarks for ones I’ve both marked as recs and tagged as favorites and here’s some:

ertrunkener_Wassergeist -> have I played Final Fantasy? No, we didn’t have video games in my house growing up. But you know how it is - pretty fanart comes across your dash, a fic is attached, you get sucked into a fandom you only know through the fandom. And then get attached to a minor character. And then a repair. This author is one of the ones that has such good and multiple fics for that. And their fics are just gorgeous. Their mind - the characters are so fleshed and the world building so awe inspiring to me. Who needs canon knowledge when I can just pretend that’s their fics?

inexplicifics -> again, it’s the characterizations and world building talent that draws me in and amazes me. They are the creator of a whole trope for Witcher fanfics which has to be some kind of secret fanfic achievement. The writing and storytelling always draws me in - I’ll say just one chapter and don’t even realize I’ve clicked “next chapter” a bunch.

Amethystina -> I started reading them for their Marvel fanfics and their AUs are so good. The character beats, the AU world building. Autonomy is still one of my favorite AUs for WinterIron. (I love a good space AU and it DELIVERS.) The way they write their worlds just feels so easy to believe and fall into, y’know? Love it.

5. What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?

At this point, probably any fic I had in mind for Emma/Scott, though I shouldn't say never on the off-chance my waned but still existent love for them might rear its head one of these days. I mean, I started the AvX/Wicker Man fic, but I doubt I'll ever finish it at this point. Oh I'd had a great idea YEARS ago for a Curt Wild/Arthur Stuart (Velvet Goldmine) fic. Nothing huge but very sweet and kissy-sexy and romantic, and it was based on one of the quotes in the movie. I have only the vaguest notes for it, and I can't for the life of me now remember what the fuck I was going to do with it. Chances are, I'll probably never write it, but I keep the notes in case one day my brain is sparked enough to remember what I was going to do OR something wholly new comes to me for it.

9. Do you write every day? If you wrote today, share a sentence of what you’ve written!

I definitely try to write every day. Sometimes the brain doesn't want to, and no matter what I do to coax it or appease it, it will not let the words come. I haven't written anything yet today, but I'll post the last sentence I wrote last night before I crawled into bed. It's from a Winteriron fic for my adoptable prompt "resolved sexual tension" (which is replacing a bingo square):

"Tony, having decided to use himself as bait to draw the outsiders to them, had almost been shoved into that room with the others, but Bucky came to his rescue."

14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?

Two, actually. I mean probably more but some of those are WIPs, so I'll give two finished fics.

23. How do you choose where to end a chapter (if you have multi-chapter works)?

It really depends on what I'm writing. Obvious choice is the resolution of the situation in the chapter. It's ready to move on to the next bit. Sometimes it's the complete opposite - nothing is resolved, but there needs to be a chapter break for another chapter that either could go into a flashback or even bounce to another set of characters/another scene elsewhere. The 'resolution' of what was happening in the other chapter can always come during this new chapter as whatever else was going on led up to what's going to be the resolution. It's pretty instinctual for me, though. It's whatever feels organic at that moment I'm writing.

24. Share a moodboard for (one of) your current WIP(s).

This is for the first part of my Is this a Dagger? series. I made a mood board last night, but it's for the Tony's Birthday Gala event, and since it's a part of the prompt I claimed, I can't post it yet - it's a surprise.

27. Is there a fic you were nervous to post/share? Why?

Probably my very first fanfic that I'd written for the Jay & Silent Bob Yahoo group I'd joined. I was the new kid, and I wrote a fic, and I threw it out there, but it was like tossing out my first poetry submission to my grad school poetry workshop in the first semester. I put it out there and fully expected it to be torn apart, but it wasn't.
