Parents
Warnings: physical, sexual and mental abuse, lobotomy and suicide.
Sheila and Matt
Jeff the Killer and Liu's parents
They met in university and got married after they both graduated, later having the kids in their early 30s.
They're both fluent in English.
Matt was the CEO of a firm and Margaret was a fashion designer. They both were successful, and became rich.
They weren't good partners, both were negligent and were very strict on the kids, and forced them to do extra curricular activities after school in order to keep up a certain image from the neighbourhood.
Sheila and Matt fell out of love awhile ago, and only stayed together in order to prevent rumours. They barely spoke to each other and when they did it usually became argumentative.
When Jeff came out as demisexual, they didn't really understand what that was but tried to learn.
They knew there was something wrong with Jeff from the very beginning, but they didn't the extent or know how to help him and hoped it was something he could grow out of.
Matt slowly stopped caring for  Jeff when he got in his late teens, thinking he was a lost cause, while Sheila tried to be more nice to try and fix his problems.
When Jeff came back from the hospital, they were extremely stressed out and weren't sure what to do, they were afraid the damage was irreversible and he might be homeschooled.
When Jeff attacked Matt, Matt had overpowered him and kept punching him, yelling at Jeff saying how much he hates him. However Jeff evidently overpowered him and killed Matt.
Matt used to hit Jeff and Liu when they were younger, he stopped as they got older.
Bridgette and Miguel
Randy and Sully's parents
They met at a store Miguel was working at while both were on break. It took awhile for them to get married, but eventually they saved up enough money to have a very small, simple wedding.
She's fluent in Spanish and English, he's fluent in English.
Bridgette used to work for Matt at his firm, she eventually was fired and was relying pretty heavily on Miguel for financial support.
While Bridgette could never afford university, Miguel could with the help of his parents and was studying to be a doctor, however he eventually drops out because he wanted a change that was less stressful.
Bridgette didn't want kids at first, because she wanted to make sure they had enough money to look after them, but she caved after Miguel wanted kids.
They had two kids together, however after having Sully, Miguel and Bridgette divorced, one year later on their anniversary Miguel committed suicide, because of all his unchecked mental health problems. He died at 33.
Miguel never got much sleep because of constant stress and paranoia, so he's always had eye bags
and was always tired.
She never really told the kids off and just let them do whatever because she didn't know they were doing such bad things, because she was always either to drunk or high.
Miguel and his side of the family in general, had a lot of illnesses that had gotten passed onto the kids.
He has autism, his stims were hand flapping and clapping, his special interest were slasher movies.
He also suffered with severe depression and ASPD through out most of his life.
He sometimes scared Bridgette, as he had a short temper and would sometimes threaten to harm her or the kids. He wasn't allowed in the car with people because of it.
Bridgette was in a deep state of depression for the death of her husband and her worsened financial situation. She started smoking and drunk. Whenever she'd have to much she'd become very depressed and groggy, sleeping it all away.
She would bring home a lot of men after his death to try and gain money quickly, while also trying to form connections and be less lonely.
Because they never had much money, Bridgette wasn't able to pay for her or her kids therapy, so they didn't find out until much later what was wrong with them.
She never supported Randy and Keith's relationship as she thought they were bad influences on each other.
She's Panromantic, but didn't know and assumed everyone was like that, which is why she thought it was silly for Randy to make a big deal out of it and come out.
Bridgette is Christian, although David was atheist.
Bridgette used to take the kids to church, but they kept messing around so she just stopped bringing them.
At first She went just for the free food when times were tough, but eventually she got convinced and prays everyday for a solution for their money problems.
She's a really good cook and Troy would sometimes mention that she should open a restaurant, but Bridgette would just laugh it off stating that she'd never be able to afford -time wise and money wise-that sort of commitment.
Bridgette visited Jeff when he was in the hospital when ever she could, because Bridgette felt horrible for the boy, but now she wishes they just didn't bother.
After Randy went to a psychiatric hospital after Jeff's injuries, Bridgette shut down, she stopped taking care of herself, and got a lot more snappy. She felt like a failure and a bad mum, so she decided to not let Sully out of the house, unless he has school, so he couldn't get into trouble and end up like Randy.
Bridgette didn't want Sully to visit or call Randy when in hospital, because she didn't want Sully to see him.
She was disappointed in Randy and after he was released she kept talk to a minimum with him.
After Sully died, she became absolutely miserable, and didn't know how to cope with the lost of her kids.
Sarah
Ben Drowned's parents
She was always worried about Ben, and her worries only intensified when he ran away.
Sarah loved to play games, especially with Ben on the weekends. Her favourite game was Silent Hill.
She always felt a bit distant from Ben, she'd get closer but it always felt like it wasn't enough.
After she helped everyone in the digital world, she was deleted by Kelbris as she was seen as an anomaly. Because Sarah was digitalised before it, she died and is still in the hotel, rotting away.
She was the 423th person to be successfully ascended.
She died at 29.
She had Ben when she was 18, Bens dad wasn't ready and left Sarah at the hospital and was never seen again, she never let it go and didn't want to mention anything about him to Ben.
she worked two jobs trying to support themselves, Sarah was constantly tired.
Sarah was a very kind and compassionate person, always helping people, when she was younger she did it to much to the point she wasn't taking care of herself first.
Maria and Caleb
Nina the killers and Chrises parents
They met at a bar when they were in their late teens, they drank and danced together, eventually exchanging numbers and than dating.
Maria worked at as a cashier in a dead end clothing store, and Caleb was a bartender, none of them made big money, however they made do with what they had.
Maria grew severely depressed after having Chris, eventually it got so bad she had to go on several different medications.
When she was feeling this way, Caleb offered to do most of the chores.
They were very negligent with their kids, because they were to focused on partying or working. They loved them, even if they never showed it. They'd usually apologise, but they never kept it and kept going out.
They used to have an occasional drink or smoke to relieve stress, but it eventually became to expensive and had to quit.
Maria never finished Highschool, dropping out at the age of 17. Unlike Caleb who had finished university with a degree in psychology.
Elizabeth
Monday's child's mum
Elizabeth had Christabel at the age of 17, back in 1687, the dad left when he found out she was pregnant. Her parents were very catholic, and kicked her and christabel out of the house to fend for themselves.
The guy was her first love, and she thought she'd marry him one day. Even after he left, she would pray every night for him to come back. He never did.
After being shunned from her family, she was also completely shunned from her whole community, as she was seen as a sinner.
She hated Christabel for a while, but she also felt guilty for feeling that way, Elizabeth sometimes couldn't even look at her though.
Eventually she found a new, welcoming village, where she eventually had Christabel.
She was still catholic, even when she was kicked out. Elizabeth even started teaching Christabel about the religion.
Christabel and her had gotten attacked by vampires, because there was an ambush on her small village. After she saw Christabel get brutally mauled by a group of vampires, frightened for her life, she ran away to a safe location.
She felt absolutely horrible after not being able to save her daughter, because of her guilt and her not wanting to turn into a vampire, she ended up killing herself a few minutes later.
Frank and Connie
Toby and Lyra's parents
They were together since university, back than Frank was a decent person that Connie loved.
After years of being together they had Lyra, and it all went downhill from there. Frank started becoming more sour, and quicker to anger, eventually turning to alcohol and smokes, now becoming what he's more known for.
He eventually lost his job, after all that drinking he couldn't be bothered to leave for work and after months of not showing up, he eventually got fired.
Connie kept asking him when he's going to get another, and that's when he first laid hands on her. 2 years later and they had Toby, Frank in this time managed to get another job, though he ends up losing it again that same year.
Even after all the abuse they all endured, Connie still loved him, she refused to believe he's that bad, when Lyra told her about the sexual abuse, Connie couldn't believe it, she refused too and told Lyra to stop making up stories, afterwards she started to actually believe it and asked Frank about it, in response he bashed Lyra.
She does a lot of the chores around the house, Frank barely does any however, he's usually just sits on his chair watching sports while drinking.
At this point they aren't even sleeping in the same bed, Connie sleeps on the couch or in with Lyra.
They barely leave the house, Connie only leaves when she has work, but even then her shifts had slowed down. She stopped visiting her sister, and stopped answering her calls.
Frank usually leaves on the weekends to go to a bar with his mates, otherwise he's in the house a lot too.
When Frank died, Connie was heartbroken, she couldn't believe Toby could do such a thing or why he'd even kill Frank of all people.
After Lyra's death, she was less lively, more slow and drained, barely even talking. Frank didn't even turn up for the funeral. Like all of his actions however, she made excuses for him.
Connie babied Toby a lot, because of all his conditions she didn't let him do much by himself, he'd have to have Lyra with him. She didn't let him do any chores or anything.
She survived the fire, she has a lot of burn scars and needed a lot of surgeries, her sister and Connie couldn't afford a lot of them and so she was left more disfigured than she could of been.
She'd visit Franks grave a lot, even though her sister insisted she doesn't. While there she'd also drop Lyra some flowers and apologise.
She dies in her sleep in her sisters house at the age of 50.
Mary and David
Clockwork and Lucas' parents
They were very traditional people, and had gotten married before having kids.
They were very loving to each other at first, but as the years passed they fell out of love, but never divorced. They barely spoke to each other, when they did it'd usually end in a screaming match, sometimes it'd even get physical. Eventually they stopped sleeping in the same room, David slept on the couch while Mary had the bed.
They were strict with their kids, and gave them a lot of chores, didn't let them go out much unless they had school or work and wouldn't buy anything for them.
Once Mary saw one of Natalie's gorey drawings, she was disgusted at how inappropriate it was and showed David. David was furious and started yelling at her.
A lot of the time chores wouldn't get done because Natalie and Lucas could only do so much, and they barely did anything, Mary was always on the couch watching tv with a cigarette, while David was always out at a bar or out with a different girl.
After Clockwork sewn the thread in her cheeks, David caught her and put her in therapy, they paid for a few sessions, but afterwards Clockwork had to pay for herself.
Loretta and Zalgo
Lazari's parents
Loretta was constantly trying to have a child, with her husband Ivan, but it never survived. Desperate, they unknowingly joined a cult that promised they would make their life better, and give them a child.
Years later, Zalgo came, appearing as a guy named Evan Harrison, promising that he is the divine being that is going to give her a child, she caved and
After 4 months, she gave birth and couldn't be happier.
Ivan was furious that she cheated, and after a heated argument he left her and the cult.
The cult and Loretta noticed Lazari wasn't normal, and that she was an extension of Zalgo.
She'd always bring Lazari everywhere she went, She cherished and spoilt Lazari all the time, and made sure she was loved and happy.
Everyone had big expectations for Loretta and Lazari and worshipped the ground they stood on.
Loretta would always get gifts for her and Lazari, one of them was Gums.
She didn't know how to look after a Zalgoid and was stressing out, she couldn't understand why Lazari looked so malnourished.
Loretta let pleading for Lazari to tell her how to help her, but she didn't know either.
Loretta had a lot of pressure from the others to help her.
Once Lazari started getting violent, and as a last resort Loretta put her in the basement until she figured it out.
She would cry a lot afterwards because she felt like such a bad mother.
Loretta still tried giving her all the love and care, she tried giving her a hug to reassure her that she's still loved, but Lazari ended up eating her.
Marie and Frank
Sally’s parents
They were very loving and pampered Sally, and didn’t know how to cope with the loss of their child.
They met at high school and have been dating since, eventually getting married and having Sally in their 20s.
Frank worked at a firm and Marie was a stay at home mum.
She did most of the chores and looked after Sally, she was going to look for a job after Sally grew up.
After the death of Sally they were both distraught and Frank couldn’t get up to work and took a week off.
John was always there to try and comfort them.
Marie had been in a deep depression and couldn’t do any chores, she could barely get out of bed.
Once Sally came back to the house, Marie saw her and was terrified, she thought she was hallucinating and when she told Frank, they both agreed that she needed a lobotomy, they were hesitant at first but agreed her mental health was horrible.
The lobotomy did not go as planned, it improved her depression and at the time suspected schizophrenia, but she became brain damaged and couldn’t express her emotions well.
Frank didn’t trust her to do anything, so he stopped working again to look after her.
He became her caregiver until they died, he was in deep regret.
They let John set up in their spare room after his wife took the house.
He’d help Marie around the house.
After he died Frank and Marie became terrified and Frank became even more depressed.
They only found out John was a suspect in the death of Sally after John was already dead.
They couldn’t manage to go visit Sallys grave, let alone leave the house in general.
They loved going to the cinemas with Sally.
Marie died at 35 and Frank died at 56.

"I think you're made of the stars themselves, Ace."
The statement brings a questioning hum from him, luring him from the limbo of sleep and consciousness as he looks at you properly. "Oh yeah? How do you figure that?"
You stare back, adjusting the way his head is cradled by the fold of your legs beneath him, reaching to touch your fingertip to his cheek.
"Your freckles," you answer. You let your finger drift, swirling over, tracing constellations (Orion's belt. Ursa major, Ursa minor. Lyra. Cygnus.) over the bridge of his nose to his other cheek. "I hope the cosmos look down at you and smile at their handiwork."
He stares back, reaches to guide your palm to his cheek and leans into it. You thumb at the plush of his skin, savoring the warmth. "Sentimental," he chastises. "Thought I was supposed to be romantic. What would that make you?"
He hopes, idly, that you'll say the sun – a fellow star, but burning brighter than he ever could. Or the moon – easing the ebb and flow of his emotions so easily.
Your thumb stops, and he leans up as you lean down, meeting for a soft, sweet kiss. He tastes like sea salt and ash. You taste like – he isn't sure what to identify it as, only that he always wants more.
"The sky," you answer when you pull away. "I think I'd like to be the sky for you."
Ace frowns. "That's--"
Boring, he wants to say. He doesn't, though. Instead, he leans up again, pulling you to meet him. You don't protest, let yourself be engulfed by him – stars or wildfire, the comparisons don't matter much in the end.
You just hope that whenever he decides to burn out, he takes you with him.

i started thinking about lyra in my sharedverse again so i'm going to drop some ideas about her just because <3
okay so when she becomes champion i think her first order of business is making friends with everybody in the elite four. and lance. this means that at every possible opportunity she's popping up behind bruno or will or karen or koga like a demon in the night to be like HELLOOOOO <3 CAN I HAVE YOUR NUMBER? and on more than one occasion it's led to screams being heard across the entirety of the indigo plateau because. Holy Shit
i also think she eventually starts wearing a cape like lance along with whatever her new champion outfit is because she loves a good swoosh of a cape. lance is in tears about it
she's a social butterfly and i know this in my heart and it serves her well jumping between being the new champion and also being a pokéathlon star. she keeps promoting her grandparents' daycare every time she's on the radio or TV until they have to call her like Hey Sweetie. We Love You. Please Stop With The Promotions We Are So Overfull
and on a similar note once kris becomes the leader of the battle tower she's constantly trying to get her to do collabs of every variety with her and kris is like yeah i'm not coming down from this tower. sorry. i live here now. they are polar opposites when it comes to being in the public eye to the point where the press aren't even allowed past the ground floor of the tower. if they want to see her they'll have to battle their way up same as everyone else. lyra thinks this is a bad business practice (but finds it funny all the same) so she's also constantly promoting the battle tower as well
lyra does take breaks though!!!! sometimes she goes to bother silver in the dragon's den and when gold disappeared for a. while. trying to get red to come down from mt. silver she ditched the entire plateau to go tackle him for disappearing in the first place once he finally calls her to say that he's alive
and of course when she caught sight of the awkward guy in red behind him and realized he was a strong trainer she instantly wanted to battle him. and when she realized he was the previous champion who defeated team rocket a couple years ago and then vanished she REALLY wanted to battle him because the champion seat was hers now (thank you very much) and she wasn't about to let him steal it out from under her
(she won. obviously. and then used red as bait to try and lure kris down from the battle tower to compete in the pokéathlon with her. it almost works until kris is like "Actually if he's so strong he can fight his way up to the top like everyone else too. No special privileges <3" and lyra's like FUCK I ALMOST HAD HER)
(red does in fact manage to get all the way to the top until he loses to kris as well because he's doomed to forever lose to the johto protagonists no matter the universe)
since getting blue's phone number is a hgss exclusive thing and you have to visit daisy multiple times to do it i like to think that she and daisy hit it off wonderfully. and lyra is the one who blue eventually calls to do his "wah wah i miss red you look just like him" spiel. which means that once she connects the dots and realizes red is The Guy Blue Was Sad About she grabs red by the arm and marches him to viridian city and bursts into the gym like HEY BLUE IS THIS THE GUY YOU WERE CALLING ABOUT
(gold is following behind the entire time. extremely amused about all of this but you would never be able to tell because of his resting bitch face)
and of course sticking with hgss-exclusive things: lyra is the one who experiences the celebi event (though i like to think she does it by herself instead of with gold because i think it's something more for her to experience. y'know)
because lyra wasn't the "main protagonist" (AKA the one silver was rivals with) in this universe (the "main protagonist" of the sharedverse is kris. they're all protagonists in their own right though) i don't think she'd know silver all too well outside of being That One Guy Kris Is Friends With (for some fucking reason) Who Hangs Out In The Dragon's Den And Also Stole A Pokémon (Or Two??? Kris Was Unclear) but after experiencing the celebi event i think she swings by the dragon's den a LOT more often and actually tries to make genuine friends with silver. no matter how prickly he is at first
eventually they have their hgss double battle against lance and clair together (though i'd imagine the dialogue being a bit different than it was in the actual game because the sharedverse is based off of gsc and not hgss and everyone knows how i feel about how hgss butchered every single character. but i digress) and that's when they really start to hit it off!! eventually silver starts challenging the indigo plateau a lot more because that's their version of hanging out. until she manages to drag him to her grandparents' daycare and make him play with the baby pokémon
(word of this gets back to kris and she finally leaves the battle tower just to come over and laugh at him for being swarmed by baby pokémon until silver finally tackles her and they start [play]fighting about it. and then lyra gets her azumarill to hit them both with a hydro pump and that stops them real quick)
lyra and gold compete in the pokéathlon together sometimes!!! and during lyra's first trip to mt. silver he comes with her and points out all the best spots. including where he first met red at the summit. they have a battle up there that ends in a tie and laugh about it for hours afterwards. and lyra admits that sometimes just hanging out on a mountain with a friend is just as fun as running around the indigo plateau
she eventually does catch celebi as well. she knows she has to be responsible and all especially now that she's champion but she does allow herself one (1) time travel prank. and it's glorious
and as for the hgss arceus event. Well. That's for her to know <3

How about some more Calamity Angst with Abel
(@artisticgamer @luckybyrdrobyn @kikker-oma because I know you're a sucker for angst LOL)
A continuation of this story.
Wow. Uhhh... this is heavy, guys.
The world around him was deafening.
There was so much noise, and his ears were ringing so much, he honestly couldn't tell what sound came from what source anymore. Was it a scream? Was it a guardian? Was that a child wailing or a gear grinding? Was that his heart pounding in his ears or was it a thunderclap from another beam firing?
Abel stumbled away from the ruins, away from the flames, away from the war zone. The city was lost, just as the castle had been. But at least some civilians had been saved. They were being escorted with what few royal guards he had left, headed for Kakariko and Hateno.
Upon entering the burning fields, though, Abel caught sight of many soldiers, none of whom wore his own uniform.
The army.
"Captain!" one of them called, bearing the insignia of general.
Abel stood in place, suddenly filled with a million different emotions. He couldn't decipher what was happening in his own body and mind anymore, but his blood was burning white hot.
The general approached him. "We're rallying the troops for a last stand. Akkala is the safest fortress available to us. If we lure the guardians that way, it'll give everyone a better chance."
A better chance. A better chance.
What chance had they had in Castle Town? Where the fuck was the army then?!
A better chance. It gave Link and the princess a better chance. A chance to get away, a chance to be safe, a chance to regroup.
Regroup with who? Who would regroup with them if the army was going to Akkala?
"Captain?"
Abel realized he'd been staring. He'd been staring and hadn't even offered a salute, let alone an acknowledgement.
There was so much noise. He forgot he was staring again.
"Akkala. Right." He finally ground out hoarsely before coughing. How much smoke had he inhaled? How hot were the flames burning?
He felt a weight on his shoulder, heavy and warm, and he jumped, startled, distractedly reaching for a sword that had broken after cutting through a guardian's leg. Then he came back to reality and realized it was the general.
"There's hope yet," the general said determinedly.
You didn't see the city burn like I did.
Abel swallowed. But Link was still alive. The princess was still alive. They were the key to everything, according to the legend.
And the guardians... they... they couldn't have possibly reached Hateno, no, no, no, they were still in the main field, they hadn't gotten that far. The military was trying to draw them to the fortress.
He had to do his part.
"Men! Move out!" the general called in general, his hand sliding off Abel's shoulder, leaving the captain swaying in place.
The world moved around him. The world burned around him. The world screamed around him.
Abel stared ahead, watching troops march together, some limping, others helping their comrades. Many had wagons and horses to help them.
He heard whirring. He heard gears. He heard claws, and ticking, and thunder.
Abel turned seeing several guardians taking notice of them. One soldier called out to him, offering a horse.
The guardians came closer. The soldiers began to run and yell. Were they fighting? Were they drawing the guardians away?
But there were... there had been so many of them. Surely this handful of monsters wasn't all that remaiend?
Where are they going? Where are they going?!
The civilians. Fort Hateno. Link. Hateno. Home. Tilieth. Lyra. Toyen.
Abel stared back at the soldiers again. Watched them rally together. Looked out at the burning fields, covered in such dense smoke that nothing was recognizable.
He ran.
He ran into the flames, into the smoke, into the fields and flowers and bodies and guardians. He tripped over a fallen woman, ignoring the stillness of her form, the hand outreached to someone else who was so burned they were unrecognizable. He stood and kept running.
The countrywide famous ranch was aflame, horses galloping chaotically in terror, their whinnies screaming into the air. There was no sign of any living people, and Abel didn't bother to try to look for survivors. He could barely breathe in the smoke as it was.
But he knew he needed to get to the fort quickly.
Running to get alongside one of the frightened steeds, he grabbed at its reigns and steadily slowed enough to calm it. He grabbed the saddle and pulled himself upward as the horse trotted, still agitated, and then urged it away from the ruins of Castle Town, away from the soldiers and the handful of guardians hot on their heels. His exhausted body clung desperately to the horse as he goaded her to gallop at full speed before a nearby metal monster could pick up on their trail. There were still a few civilians fleeing in every direction with no more coordinated movement or protection from the soldiers.
Either these were the stragglers or there were no knights left.
Abel again found himself wishing he'd died in the castle, or even in the city as his fellow knights had. But he had a purpose now; while he had lost the castle and the capital, he had a plan.
He had to get to Fort Hateno.
Let the general and his army hold their last stand. Let them die with honor. But Abel knew for certain that not all of the guardians were following them to the fortress, and as a royal guard, he had a duty to the last remaining member of the royal family.
And he would be damned if he didn't go to support Link as he'd promised.
He'd told him he'd meet him at the fort, and that was what he would do.
His horse whinnied with panic as flames spread too close, licking at its hooves and his heels. He steered the mare around the flames as she almost bucked him off, and then the flames were abruptly disrupted by a clawed foot tearing into the earth and squelching them.
In the haze and smoke, Abel recognized the pink mechanical eye transfixed on him. He sucked in a sharp inhale, coughing harshly on the smoke in his lungs, and urged his mount to move.
The guardian was hot on his heels, charging its laser as he once again pushed the horse to run faster. His steed neighed in protest, her stamina draining out of her faster than it could replenish, and the guardian fired.
The earth shook, and Abel's world was wrenched out from under him. His heart shot into his throat as he hurdled through the air, landing with such impact that it thrust all the air out of him. He tumbled a ways down the path before eventually slipping into the brier, thorns holding him hostage as they shredded his already tattered uniform. He moaned, unable to move for a moment as the guardian paused just outside of the area where he was, pacing back and forth like an animal searching for its prey. After a while the whirring of its alarms grew distant as it swiveled its head to another target, and Abel heard screams. The guardian scurried away.
There was a moment, brief, strange, otherworldly, where the world just--changed? The captain blinked a moment, and suddenly the world was darker yet brighter, hotter yet colder, and it was wet.
It was nighttime. The flames were still burning. It was raining.
How--did he pass out...? When...?
Abel took a shuddering breath, his body screaming, the world spinning, but he rose anyway, feeling a thorn cut his arm as it pulled a frayed piece of uniform, holding it hostage in its spiky grasp, leaving Abel's arm more exposed and bleeding. The captain coughed as he stood on trembling legs, and his world shifted again.
He managed to avoid face planting into the brier itself, but the mud was another matter.
Groaning, Abel rose again, spitting out blood from his now split lip, rubbing his face as the rain washed some dirt away while his soiled hands caked more onto it. He stumbled a few paces, looking around for the mare he'd been on, and remembered what had happened.
Panting for air, the captain stumbled, walked, and then ran. The ground was torn up with heavy footprints, claws cutting into the earth like lacerations into skin. The rain filled the gorges with puddles, as if the earth were trying to turn this Calamity-made devastation back into something natural.
The rain was deafening. So was the thunder. Thunder? Was it thunder? Or was it guardians?
Abel whirled around warily, tripping over a stone and falling once more.
And the world brightened.
It was an enormous flash, like that of lightning, but strangely... no thunder followed it. Abel didn't know what to make of it, but there was no immediate threat, and so he pulled himself up to his feet with a nearby fallen tree and marched ahead.
And marched. And marched. And marched.
Stumbling ahead, Abel gritted his teeth as a distraction against the pain shooting through his body. At this point he had no idea what time of day it was; between the burning skies around the castle and the storm fighting him every step he took, he felt like it could have been any time of day. It certainly felt like it had been at least twenty-four hours since the Calamity had started.
Abel coughed, leaning against a tree for a moment before growling at himself in frustration. He had to keep going.
Taking another step forward, he caught a glimpse of movement, and his brain registered that there were two men on the path ahead coming his way. They'd clearly noticed him before he had them, but given the fact that they were Sheikah and he was wearing the tattered remains of a royal guard's uniform, both parties knew the other was not an enemy.
And one of them was carrying--
Abel felt his breath get sucked out of him.
The blue garment. The sun kissed hair, painted golden brown like freshly baked bread, now soaked in red and brown and black and--
The still fingers. The still feet. The still body. The paleness, the redness, the black and blue and--
Abel couldn't breathe.
Goddess no. Goddess no, goddess no goddess nogoddessnogoddessnogoddessnononononono
"Captain...?"
Abel took one step blindly. Then another. He couldn't take his eyes off the boy, he couldn't get words to form. He reached out, his hand trembling, eyes wide with horror, screams caged in his chest, dying with what was left of his heart.
"Let him see him," the other Sheikah said quietly.
The knight continued to walk as if in a trance, tunnel vision preventing him from seeing or hearing anything else as the Sheikah warrior slowly lowered the boy to the ground. Abel reached him just as he was about put his head in the dirt, falling to his knees and supporting him.
The pale face. The open wound on his neck, burned through skin all the way to fatty tissue and muscle, the blood seeping through the champion's tunic, the shallowness of his breathing--
"He fought gallantly," one of the Sheikah said. "He protected the princess."
How did this--? That meant guardians were--and Fort Hateno was--and Hateno Village--
He couldn't breathe.
Abel choked, his muscles paralyzed, air refusing to move in or out, eyes refusing to close or move, transfixed on the boy, his baby boy--
"We're taking him somewhere where he can be healed, Captain. But we have to move quickly."
He... healed?
Healed?
They were... he could be... healed...?
Hands came into his vision, reaching for the little one in his arms, and he growled, pulling the body closer to him.
"Captain..."
"Just let him hold him. Captain, can you carry him for us? We have to move if he's to survive."
Survive. He could survive. He could survive.
Get up, idiot!
Supporting his boy properly in his arms, Abel rose, nodding. The two Sheikah glanced at each other a moment before nodding in return and bidding him to follow. Their path made him turn around, heading back towards the burning fields of Central Hyrule.
Why? Where were they going?
They ran quickly. Almost too quickly. But he wasn't going to follow behind, he couldn't, he wouldn't.
Abel ran until his knees started to give out, until his lungs burned, until his body was screaming so much at him that he was crying in the rain from sheer physical pain alone.
That was all that could make him cry at this point. He had no heart left anyway.
The Sheikah occasionally glanced back at him to see if he was keeping up. He refused to be the reason--
I sent him there. I sent him there.
This is my fault.
The trees thinned out. The smoke was back, as was the heat. How could the fire still be burning in this storm?
Was it still raining? He didn't even--he looked up and realized the sky was blushing with dawn, a haze overtaking the land, the rain having long stopped. He was still soaked to the bone, and he felt warm liquid settling into his chest and arms and clothes.
His blood.
Abel picked up the pace, nearly overtaking the pair ahead of him, and they held him steady when they stopped abruptly and he nearly toppled over.
"There are still guardians on the prowl, and I think they're up on the plateau. We can't fight them all, not yet. Follow us - we'll sneak by them to get to the shrine. Purah and Robbie should be waiting there, we sent word ahead."
Purah and Robbie? Shrine? Sneaking? Sneaking. They had to be quiet. He had to be quiet.
But they had to be fast. But they couldn't engage. So they had to be quiet.
Blood continued to trickle down his chest and abdomen.
The Sheikah moved silently, their training and specialized clothing allowing for them to be like shadows. Abel was... not so graceful. But with every glance they gave, with every hint of taking over to get his precious cargo where he needed to be, the knight held on to him even tighter, he held his breath, he stayed his tears, he choked back a groan or a grunt of a whimper, he bit his tongue so hard it bled to distract him from everything else.
The stairs leading up to the Great Plateau were in ruins, but scattered and fractured as they were, they were still somewhat passable. He could hear the destruction up above, the guardians reigning terror on the few people who had been there when everything had fallen apart.
He didn't even look at the Gatepost Town as they passed it. He just climbed. Heard firing lasers. Heard his own gasping breath and held it. Climbed more.
The Sheikah pair paused at the top of the stairs and then motioned to move. He ran with them, dodging between trees as the world burned. He glanced to the left a moment and saw the Temple of Time. People must have been holed up in there at some point--or they still were--as several guardians were attempting to break its walls and climb in.
"There you are! Who...?"
"Captain of the royal guard."
Abel looked ahead and saw two more Sheikah, a woman and a man, neither dressed as warriors. The female adjusted her glasses a little, brushing mud off her face as she pointed towards a cave.
"Let's get him in," she said hastily.
Abel followed, nearly slipping down the stairs, feeling the damp coolness of the cave stiffen his entire body. They continued a short distance before entering a dead end with some sort of bath in it.
"Put him in there," she directed him.
The knight stepped forward and then froze in front of the bath.
He... he couldn't put him down.
"What are you doing?" she asked impatiently. "He needs to be in there!"
He held the boy more tightly.
"Captain," the other spoke, suddenly at his side. "Your name is Abel, right?"
Abel stared at the bath, frozen in place, trembling from head to foot.
"My name's Robbie," the man continued. "I'm a scientist and researcher alongside Purah. This place is called the Shrine of Resurrection. It's going to heal him."
Abel forced air in and out of his lungs. Yes, yes. Shrine. Healed. He would be healed. Put him in.
Let him go.
He couldn't. He couldn't, he couldn't, he couldn't.
"He's your son, right?"
The room grew still. Abel finally moved, head turning slightly towards Robbie.
"The bath will heal him," Robbie said gently. "All you need to do is put him down."
Let him go.
Move, dammit!
Let him go!
You're going to kill him if you don't let him go!
Abel stared at the bath again, and his knees buckled. Purah gasped, her footsteps shooting forward as if to catch him, but he caught himself well enough, letting his knees and hips and back take the impact and holding the boy steady.
Slowly, he put Link in the bath, and he let him go.
Robbie's hand was on his shoulder. "Okay. Let us take it from here, Abel."
Abel took a step away. Then another. He backed up until he hit the cool damp wall behind him. He watched Purah and Robbie place a device in a stand, he watched everything glow blue, he watched water fill the bath until it nearly submerged his boy entirely.
"This shrine will seal and pressurize," Purah announced. "We need to go or we're not getting out until it's done."
"When will that be?" one of the Sheikah asked curiously.
Purah glanced at Abel a moment, uncertain, and sighed. "I... don't know. Could be a day, a week, a month, a year... multiple years. He's... pretty injured, and we've not tested the rate at which this place heals."
Abel swallowed and looked away, finding his voice. "There are still guardians out there. He won't be safe until we get rid of them."
He didn't wait for a reply. He didn't need one. The Sheikah followed him out of the shrine, Purah and Robbie lingering to make some final adjustments as Abel and the warriors surveyed the area.
Everything beyond that was just... a blur.
The scientists left. Advised him on a few things that he barely heard. Memory loss, healing time, maintaining the integrity of the shrine, something about a slate. The warriors planned an assault with him. Another guardian rampaged onto the plateau, its laser and weight finally making the stairway cave in, trapping all of them but preventing more enemies from coming.
They fought. For three days they fought. Kotek, the original warrior carrying Link, fell first. On the end of the second day, Moya fell as well.
Abel stood his ground before the guardian by the gardens, two of its legs sparking, its eye readying for another blast. He had no way to block it, no way to eliminate it. He should run into the forest.
He collapsed instead. The red beam that promised destruction took its aim on his forehead.
And then a golden light blinded him, and warmth and safety and otherworldly lightness flowed over him like a waterfall. He fell backwards entirely, shielding his eyes, and when he opened them, the guardian was motionless and quiet.
Wh... what...?
Abel stared at the guardian a moment, bewildered. Then he crawled towards it, poking it.
It didn't stir.
What?
The metal beast was still warm with use, filled with a fire of the charge it was about to unleash with him, but it... was... dead??
The sun shone brightly, and--
Wait. That... wasn't the sun.
Dragging himself around the husk of the guardian, Abel pulled himself to his feet with the nearest wall and stared.
Hyrule Castle was glowing.
What was happening? That golden light was unnatural, but it wasn't the malice of the Calamity!
Was it... could it be...?
Was it Princess Zelda?!
Abel fell to the ground, unable to stand any longer but equally unable to look away. He held his torso up on trembling arms, gaping at the sight before him.
It has to be her.
Goddess above. She actually did it.
She actually--
Link.
The word screamed through his mind, as if he'd forgotten him, as if he hadn't been fighting the last three days to ensure the guardians didn't get anywhere near the shrine. Yet somehow he had forgotten, somehow despite his mission his boy hadn't crossed his mind once. He'd been too focused on the objective.
Abel shot to his feet and ran. He ran so hard and so fast, the world was blurring and spinning, his head was pounding, his heart was racing.
Had the princess' power healed Link too? Could it do such a thing?
The entrance was still sealed, a nondescript gate guarding priceless treasure.
So he... wasn't ready yet. But he was safe. Link was safe.
Kotek. Moya. They weren't. They were... they were still out in the elements, still exposed, still awaiting their final rest.
He couldn't focus on any one thing and he refused to sit still. So he turned around instead. He roamed the forest to find the bodies. Used his hands and some debris and broken tools to dig graves.
As he smoothed the soil over the last of his handiwork, he looked at the castle again and saw that it was... normal again. Nondescript. Quiet. In pieces, but hard to tell from here. Shattered, but standing.
Had she died, then? Was the battle over for her too? Didn't they need both the princess and the hero?
He didn't know.
Abel walked back to the shrine. Placed his hand on the stone. Felt its coolness seep into his fingers, trickling through his bones to his arm, his shoulder, his chest, his core.
The world around him was deafening.
The silence of the night screamed. It was too quiet all of a sudden. His mind couldn't comprehend thoughts or words anymore. All he saw was the rock in front of him. All he registered was what he could touch. He leaned forward, pressing his forehead against it, closing his eyes and feeling his body lurch in response, but...
But for one moment, all was still. For one moment, he could see Link, resting, healing.
Abel kissed the stone gently. Swallowed. Slid to the ground. The world turned on its side. When did he lie down?
Spots were in his vision now. Was he... was he going to die?
Did he want to die?
Feebly, he reached out to the stone again. He... he wanted...
He just wanted Link to be safe.
He knew he would be safe. It was over. The guardians were still. The Calamity quelled. The world was silent.
It... was over.
It was over.
And the silence was deafening.

Aqua Deer Mafia AU
@thoughtfullyrainynightmare and @lyranova are to blame for this~! (affectionate)
..........
Morgen Faust: The Stag. The head of the Aqua Deer mafia. While mild and unassuming on the surface, Morgen is a driven man who doesn’t take kindly to injustice. He uses his connections in the mafia to track down and fight more sinister syndicates. Morgen will use violence and underhanded tactics to a degree but does reign in his mafia members to minimize the severity of their crimes. In this sense, the Aqua Deer are like vigilantes. Clover City officials are still very against the Aqua Deer as they’ve outed a number of corrupt individuals in the past.
Nacht Faust: The Buck. Morgen’s second-in-command and a double agent keeping tabs on the Black Bull mafia. (Yami, the leader of the Bulls, is aware of Nacht’s split allegiance but since it hasn’t harmed the Bulls yet, he lets it slide. For now.) He used to associate with another syndicate until they targeted Morgen to keep Nacht in line, only for that to push him to betray the group. He’s a master of disguise and infiltration, though his battle prowess is notable as well. Nacht has a habit of naming his belongings.
Gimodelo: Nacht’s favorite handgun.
Plumede: His motorcycle which he uses to get around the city.
Slotos: Body armor disguised as day-to-day clothing.
Walgner: A special phone that has been made largely untraceable thanks to Marx’s handiwork.
Rill Boismortier: The Fawn. A new recruit to the Aqua Deer. Joined the mafia to find and punish people who’ve forged several of his artworks. He’s a martial arts prodigy, having learned multiple schools of fighting and using that knowledge to create his own mixed martial arts that is wildly unpredictable in a fight. The core of his fighting style is making use of the environment around him and his own enemies’ momentum to gain the upper hand.
Walter: The Moose. An older member of the Aqua Deer. Despite his age, he never had the ambition of taking charge of the mafia and instead trains younger members of the group such as Rill. There’s not a fighting style nor weapon that Walter isn’t at least familiar with. His social intelligence makes him invaluable for assessing public reactions and political backlash against the mafia’s activity.
Marx Francois: The Informant. A hacker and master at gathering information. Once employed by the government, he quit his job over disagreements about how the city government was turning Clover City into a surveillance state. He’s also wanted for leaking thousands of pages of government documents that were meant to be under lock and key.
Fragil Tormenta: The Calm. An underground doctor, giving medical aid to those who can’t pay the hospital bills or otherwise can’t legally be treated (ie. a criminal getting a bullet removed or stab wound stitched).
...
Another mafia group that is neither antagonistic towards the Aqua Deer nor friendly with them.
Discordia Helheim (Lyra's oc): The Vampire. She runs her own mafia group called The Coven. Known for her beauty and silver tongue which lures many a high profile man into a false sense of security. Infamous in the underground for bringing affairs and conspiracies to light without her identity being compromised.
Josele Canty (my oc): The Doe. A highly skilled assassin and Discordia’s right hand woman. Skilled in martial arts and can use anything as a weapon, having once killed a man with nothing more than a sewing kit. Her physical durability is inhuman, having survived car accidents without so much as a scratch and substances such as king cobra venom being proven ineffective against her. Though officially with The Coven, Josele is regularly hired by the Aqua Deer. This is against Discordia’s wishes.
Acylla Rhine (@faewraithsworld's oc): The Jewel. Josele’s weapon coordinator. She’s created firearms and bullets without metals so Josele can sneak them past metal detectors. She has a variety of purses, bottles, and other common looking items with false bottoms and hidden compartments to hide Josele’s tools. One of her more intriguing creations is a bra where the underwire is removable to be used as a garrote. She’s no slouch herself in a fight (able to make use of anything she’s invented), but she prefers working behind the scenes.
Moros Helheim (Lyra's oc, again): The Thrall. Discordia’s husband and advisor in the mafia. He doesn’t hold much true power in The Coven but him being allowed in at all is a big privilege.

Name: Victoria "Vic" Larsson Species: Vampire Occupation: Stay at Home Mom / Window Painter Age: 310 Years Old (Looks about 30) Played By: Julie Face Claim: Alicia Vikander
"Sooner or later, everyone sits down to the banquet of consequences."
Some people weren’t meant to be parents.  In 2024, if Vic had been a fool who tried therapy, that’s what one of the quacks would have said.  They would patronize her about childhood, telling her that father’s constant, persistent dismissal of her wasn’t her fault.  Maybe they would ask that she try and grant him grace.  After all, plague-ridden Sweden in 1714 wasn’t peaceful for anyone, especially a man with a dead wife and a stubborn daughter who refused to conform.
But that would’ve been bullshit.
She didn’t remember when her desperation for his affection flipped to apathy, but before long, she was married off. Never did Victoria think that ego and pompousness could be so entrenched in one disgusting human, but she was learning quickly that life had its way of surprising her.  Victoria hated feeling like she belonged to someone, and some childish piece of her assumed that feeling might go away once she was out of her father’s grip.  It didn’t.
But marriage did have a perk. One that exuded a brightness so strong that Victoria couldn’t deny, not even to a quack 2024 therapist, that she would have picked a marriage to her husband over anyone else.  Because where her husband was a deep, dark boil on the ass of humanity, his sister was the opposite: a constant light, inching its way deeper into Victoria’s heart the longer they spent together. There was always a reason to smile around Lyra, and what started as an innocent fascination turned into an intense entanglement.  Victoria had never felt this way about another person, nor had those feelings ever been reciprocated.
She should have expected life ripping her away.  But she stupidly got herself caught up in the flurry of it all- the way Lyra made her feel electric with just a touch, or how a simple walk together could make her feel on top of the world… Everything made sense, until it didn’t.  There was no warning before it happened- Lyra never grew cold, nor did she give any indication she wanted what they were doing to stop.  Maybe that’s why her betrayal cut so deep.
Victoria never knew the circumstances that led to her execution.  There was no trial, no chance to plead her case.  No chance to question what was happening..  But there, inches away from death, Victoria was grateful to be done with life and all the bullshit that came with it.
But life loved to play tricks on Victoria. Most of the people who came to watch her die left quickly, satisfied that she was gone.  As soon as Victoria was sure she was leaving this life behind, there was a sudden, sharp pain in her neck, and someone urging her to drink, and she was ushered into another form of entrapment.
Victoria held a deep resentment for her sire, despite her guidance and adept training.  She was just another being determined to hold her down, and from the beginning, she was the enemy.  Her sire, instead, seemed amused by Victoria’s unwillingness to conform, but this would be her downfall. After years of calculated planning, Victoria got rid of her swiftly and violently, venturing alone after that.
Being a vampire wasn’t easy. From the moment she turned, she had a deep sense that vampires were the truest evil in the world.  The thoughts running through her mind, the fantasies of murdering people in cold blood, the cravings-... it was all too much.  It wasn’t long after gaining control that she decided she needed to destroy anyone who shared her …condition.  The best way to do this, of course, was betrayal.  A victim herself, Vic knew the best ways to destroy vampires: lure them, gain their trust, and turn them to slayers when they least expect it.  There was no counting how many vampires she’d betrayed, unless you counted the sum of money she’d acquired doing so.
Victoria, now strictly referred to as Vic, found her way to Wicked’s Rest ten years ago, thanks to a tip from a hunter. Normally after that amount of time, she’d find new horizons, but Wicked’s Rest  was a goldmine for her.  She never planned to stick around for so long. It just happened.  It was easy, after a while, to let her guard down.  What started out as a few acquaintances with neighbors or patrons from the bar she worked at quickly developed into friendships that caused her to question everything she believed about the world for centuries.  Soon, Vic was a total wreck, and she’d stopped trying to destroy vampires altogether.
But the most undeniable turning point in Vic’s journey came one unexpected night when a pair of old friends (hunters she met when she’d first arrived in town) knocked on her door in desperation.  When she reminisced about that night, it was a blur. She could barely remember all that transpired: A bounty on their heads they couldn’t escape from.  No family or friends to care for their baby… And then suddenly, Vic hailed as the solution.  Her first answer was no, of course.  There were numerous ways it could’ve gone wrong, numerous ways to lose control.
Vic knew more than anyone that some people weren’t meant to be parents.  Least of all her, with her apathy and impatience and general disdain for society.  But before she could realize what she was doing, Vic agreed to take the baby in.
If living in Wicked’s Rest made Vic go soft, motherhood practically melted her, at least in regards to guilt about her past actions.  Now, Vic was determined to right her wrongs.  Her main efforts went into joining the neighborhood watch, misleading anyone who might have gotten even a whiff of vampire activity. She was still leery about being around other vampires, especially letting a now three-year-old Rosie anywhere in their vicinity, but for the first time in her unlife, she began to feel like she was where she belonged.
Character Facts:
Personality: Scrupulous, resourceful, patient, cynical, vengeful, calculating
She still holds a small job to keep up appearances, but most of Vic's acquired (and quite large) net worth is from her former years trading insider information about fellow vampires and their whereabouts and secrets to hunters
Vic has a deep love of painting, and she spends most of her spare time perfecting the craft. Most of her paintings are of her memories of the flower garden that was planted by her mother back in Sweden.
Vic has a bracelet from her time as a double agent that, when activated, hides her vampire status from slayers for 5 hours. It’s getting old and has the tendency to malfunction, and she’s desperate to find someone who might be able to fix it or secure her a new one soon.
Vic bought her Rottweiler, Winnifred, about 5 years ago, both to act as a guard dog and a threat to those who dare try to speak to her.  No one warned her that Winnie would be the friendliest dog on the planet.
Vic is proud that her adopted 3 year old daughter, Rosie, is bilingual, loves the minions, and has impressive color theory for someone her age.  Vic WILL gloat about her parenting skills whenever the opportunity arises.

"Torture, watching stuff, singing" X*X*X*X*X*X*X*X*X*X*X*X*
Snowman.
CW/TW: Non-con touch (SFW), creepy comfort, dancing, Christmas
Word count: 1‘395
"Hello, hello, Lyra, I'm back! And I-What are you doing?", Adam asked perlex when he came into the pool hall and saw Lyra.
Lyra who was currently upside down, standing on her arms gave him a sarcastic look. “I think it might help my case to change my point of view/perception for once…I am working out, daffodil.”
“Keep your smartassery in check today, I am not in the mood to hurt you today. Its Christmas.”
“Its…what? But…that can’t be…”, Lyra gasped and rolled herself onto the ground to sit up.
Adam smirked. “And why not?”
“You…took me in July. It…was summer.” She looked away.
“True. But now it’s not summer anymore. You’ve been with me for five months again.
Lyra gulped but quickly found her façade again. She chose an upbeat face and her eyes found Adam’s again. “So, and now it’s Christmas?”
“Yes. So if you can behave I have a suggestion for you.”
Lyra raised her brows. “What is it?”
“You behave and don’t make me trouble. I won’t hurt you or mock you or anything like that. And we will go outside. It’s snowing.”
Lyra’s eyes widen at the last two sentences. Outside? Snow? Could this be?! “Deal!”, she said without hesitation.
“Great.”, he said smiling. “I will have to say that I will take a teaser with me because I can’t trust you. As you well know.” He started intently at Lyra who gave him a smug smile. “But I will only use it if you try to run away.”
“Alright.”
“And you need to wear a jacket.”
“Oh come oooon.”, Lyra complained.
“You have been in here for five months. Warm and snuggly. -Lyra stared at him in disbelief- Your body is not used to winter. Jacket! I am not treating your flue! Even though you’d be quite lovely so weak and sickish.”
“Alright, fine, I’ll wear one!”
This time it was Adam’s turn to look smug.
---
Lyra’s finger caressed the cold smooth stone walls. Every step cautious, fully expecting to step on air, fall and wake up. She had to make sure this was real, that this wasn’t an elaborate hallucination or a dream. That this was real. That she could go outside. Truly.
“Need me to pinch you?”, Adam offered, an amused smile dancing around his lips.
“I’m afraid that would break your no-hurting-rule.”, Lyra joked shakily.
“Its real. I promise. And I’m not playing a game with you. I like Christmas and I’m not just some torturous-mindless-monster. Don’t go expecting gifts or something though.”
“Of course.” Then she saw at the end of the hallway a barricade though which light tore into the hall. Lyra held her breath as a small wind of fresh, cold air brushed her face. Wind. Actual wind!
“Don’t faint on me, Lyra.”, Adam warned and touched a hand to her cheek.
Lyra jerked away from the touch instinctively before shooting Adam a look, trying to determine if that made him mad but his expression was unshaken and he continued making his way outside.
Lyra followed him and weasled her way through the barricade. She stepped outside and the blinding white forced her to close her eyes. When she finally opened them again tears welled up. “Oh.”, she gasped out. Thick, white snowflakes descended from the sky far above, landing on her. The cold sensation instantly brought her back to reality.
Adam laughed. “Cold, huh?”
Lyra avoided his gaze as best as she could, turning away to look around the place. Thick layers of snow covered everything. The stone benches, fountains, and ping-pong tables. She didn’t reckon she still knew how to play. The thought made her sad. In the makeshift shoes she had been given she stamped around in the snowy depths and that lured a smile out of her again.
“M'lady.”, Adam said behind her.
Lyra spun around only to see Adam doing a curtsy and extending a hand towards her.
“Would you care to join me for a dance?”, he asked. Same charming smile on his face as always.
Lyra’s jaw fell open. “Are you mental?!”
Adam laughed. “Oh come on pessimist, it’s Christmas!”
“Pessimist, I will tell you-“, she sighed. “Why on earth do you want to dance with me and why on earth would I want to dance with you.”
“Because it would be very polite.”
Lyra gulped. She looked up, getting captivated by the snow falling from the sky again. Even though the cold still hurt on her skin it was so beautiful to watch. She had always loved watching the snow. For as long as she could think. With great effort she tore her gaze away from it and her eyes found Adam’s. The threat in his voice was very clear, no-hurting-rule or not. So with a heavy feeling she lowered herself into a curtsy herself and took his hand. It had already cooled down from the temperatures.
Adam’s smile shun at her. “Just follow my lead.” And with that he pulled her towards him and pushed her away again. Supporting her through initial stumbles and insecurities.
Lyra let herself get pushed and pulled back and forth, quickly losing track of the steps. She had always wanted to learn proper dances. Her involuntary dance partner opens his arm wide, pulling her in and then nudging her to spin. Lyra let herself spin on his hand, tears welling up in her eyes. Would she ever be able to dance again without remembering this? She didn’t have time to dwell on the depressive thought as she was pulled close and her second hand was caught by Adam’s. The sudden proximity stealing her breath. Or it was just the cold.
Adam, now holding Lyra close, led her one step back to the side and then reversed, turning, and repeating. He smiled, knowing full well that she had long lost track. He quickly let go of one hand and with it gently tilted Lyra’s chin up, making her look at the snow before taking her free hand in his again. After a few rotations he guided her hands onto his shoulders and put her hands on her waist. She shot him an alarmed look but he gave her a reassuring smile and then turned while lifting her into the air.
Lyra held her breath when she got lifted into the air but it was over as soon as it started and her feet touched the ground again. And then her legs gave out under her. Faster than Adam could catch her again she slipped out of his hands and crumbled into the snow. The cold soaking her clothing and stinging her skin.
“Okay I guess that’s enough for your body. You’re going back inside; you need to rest.”
“No!”, Lyra protested even though her breathing was now that she was focused again heavy and laboured. “I…I want to stay outside. I want to see it!“
“Your body has had it; you can feel it yourself. Don’t try to ruin it, that’s my job.”
“No. I’ll be fine! I can make it, I’m not sensitive to cold. Never was.”
Adam sighed. Alright, have it your way.” He budged and walked away. Soon he was gone into the snow.
Lyra tried to get on her feet, to walk around. To maybe-But her legs gave out under her again. Goosebumps had started to break out all over her body and she was shivering. Especially with her clothing getting more and more soaked by the snow. But the falling white around her was so captivating. And even though the cold hurt she still embraced it, having been inside for so long. Her body was pretty resistant to the cold anyways. Right? A light breeze blew her way and made the snowflakes dance and spiral. It was gorgeous! Lyra stared at it, not noticing how she started to sway. Until she just dropped to the side. Alarmed she tried to push herself back up again but finding that her arms were shaking too hard from the cold. She broke down on the floor again and watched thick, white snowflakes land and slowly melt on her arm. Suddenly two specks of colour came into her blurry sight. She could feel herself getting picked up, lifted into the air and then into two arms, head guided against a warm chest. The hands near burning her skin.
„I told you it would be too much for you. Don‘t you dare die on me. Especially on Christmas.

Note
11/10 will hold henry’s hands skating no walker needed, and will lyra be lured onto the rink if i hold her hands skating?? 😳🛼
You say that now, but Henry will drag you down w/ them, just so you can 'accidentally' land on them (or vice versa) ^^
As for Lyra...it may just be enough. Just don't make a big deal about it, she gets embarrassed easily!
