#magic nexo knights

hello everyone! I have some lore to share!

prepare for a long winded rant about theories myself and a few others came up with on how magic works, as well as how monstrox's corruption works. To begin, let's start with the line between nexo magic and dark magic, and how colors of magic can verify the difference I'd imagine all magic is on the same spectrum, once magic becomes orange, it is completely controlled, but blue magic is completely uncontrolled. The purpleness seen from the lava monsters is sort if in the middle of this. (not to mention they had free will and abandoned monstrox by choice, which brings us to stone monsters in a moment) Now this brings us to two big big differences, nexo magic and forbidden powers! Ironically enough, i'd say both are a form of controlled magic as they shoot a controlled beam of energy and are sealed within tablets to KEEP them under control. Just their version of controlled magic is much... wicked-er, than nexo magic. Nexo magic on the other hand is used only for support, giving others strength, etc. however it IS still controlled magic (This might also be why merlok turned blue once in knights of the realm, he couldn't control his magic due to messy files and froze up, turning all blue). Monstrox's lightning is... fairly easy to explain, it's lightning that brings people to life, very powerful but very uncontrolled. Another thing, most magic used by individuals who are not wizards appears to be used through objects such as staffs and wands (and shields, as seen with the knights!). Once enchanted with magic, they seem to contain this magic which can be activated by another wizard. (Seen with Jestro and monstrox/The knights and merlok)

Stone monsters on the other hand are tricky, after all, I JUST mentioned that orange = controlled magic and blue = uncontrolled magic, so you may be asking "Toes, why do stone monsters have orange eyes then?" My answer? Monstrox needs to CONTROL the stone monsters right? If he didn't, they'd just pull the same thing the lava monsters did. The easiest solution is to simply use magic to keep them under control. our best examples of out-of-control stone monsters are the grey knight, and the gnomes. The gnomes are one of the only monsters to not have orange eyes (along with krakenskull but technically he does still). The gnomes are actually an interesting case, as they are not afraid to attack their own leaders, they just crave violence and destruction and will attack whatevers in their way, this is surprisingly similar to the way the grey knight is as well. As the grey knight goes from the mindset of destroying FOR monstrox to... just destroying, and would you look at that? anything that stands in his way he ALSO wishes to destroy. Who knew gnomes and knights had so much in common. but yeah, there's two types of stone monsters, the controlled ones and the uncontrolled ones. Clay's flashing between orange eyes however may have been more-so monstrox's influence regaining it's hold over him, likely trying to get him to use his destructive tendencies for actual purpose.

Now lets take a look at our favorite wizard in training (unless you're a Fletcher fan, Fletcher fans i'm sorry but I just don't know enough about him to add him to this list, but from what i do know the forms of magic he used in the book are uncontrolled magic, therefore probably blue) Clay's nexo arm is another great example of uncontrolled magic being harmful and controlled magic being not harmful, when Clay's arm was that blue color, it seemed to be causing the most harm to the knight. However when it turned orange (Via downloading some nexo-magic tylenol from merlok), it became easier to control and stopped acting up. The spells clay used before getting the nexo arm are also blue, showing his inexperience as well as monstrox's corruption still being on him (as seen with the uncontrolled beam of blue energy he had been shooting, as well as him breaking free from his stone stasis)

Now, let's take a look at monstrox's corruption and the main 3 characters impacted by it Jestro, Clay/The grey knight, and Wanda/Ruina. all 3 of these characters were corrupted by monstrox, which altered their mindsets completely. However there's a bit more to it than one would think, for example, it seems corruption takes the worst traits of a person and makes them the most prominent ones. A good example for each character: Jestro was already a little chaotic before his corruption, when he became corrupted, he went batshit insane and became chaotic as fuck. (the lightning form of jestro seems to be a little more unhinged than the original evil jestro) Clay already had a slight temper before he was the grey knight, though he was much better at controlling it, the grey knight on the other hand is incredibly angry at ALL TIMES. Wanda was, according to merlok, a very playful individual/Known to tease others. Ruina is the darker side of this trait and just straight up manipulates people, she is a gaslighter. Corruption however can be fought against and eventually dispelled if one is determined enough, in fact, the only character who truly managed to break free from Monstrox's corruption was Jestro. Since corruption is based all around making the flaws of oneself super prominent, accepting these flaws would be, well... it's biggest weakness, one can't be corrupted if they accept their actions and decide they wish to grow and change from them. Basically, corrupted individuals are still themselves, just the worst version of themselves. And accepting that this corrupted version of yourself WAS still you, and deciding to learn and grow from it is the best way to defeat it. Jestro took responsibility for his actions in s1/2 and eventually decided he WAS at fault for initiating the whole problem in the first place, whereas s3/4 he didn't (because it wasn't his fault in that case, that and monstrox learned from his mistakes and made sure jestro wasn't going to betray him again) Jestro is also the only corrupted individual to accept his flaws as his own actions, rather than blaming them on some alter ego (such as the grey knight, or ruina stoneheart)

This also goes to show that corrupted individuals can be so wildly different from their counterparts that they don't recognize each other as the same person, BOTH the grey knight and Clay show this The grey knight refers to himself as his own person, and Clay refers to the grey knight as if he were a different person as well. Example dialogues: "I am no longer the one you call Clay, I, am the grey knight." "It's a Grey Knight thing." "if you don't believe i'm dangerous then The grey knight will just have to show you how dangerous he is." He didn't accept his flaws as part of himself, therefore didn't fully break from monstrox's corruption. Ruina is likely a similar case, but we just don't know enough about her to confirm this. In conclusion Blue magic is uncontrolled/harmful, Orange magic is controlled/used to control, Magic is contained within inanimate objects and wizards can wake it up, Corruption flips your flaws and good traits to be the opposite, and jestro is the most self-aware character in the series and accepts who he is both in evil and in good. And for those who made it all the way through this rant, or for those who just thought the silly little doodles were funny, here's a dumb little doodle i made involving this theory a while back.

1. they were literally a walking granite monster for like.. 7 1/2 episodes or something and as far as I’m aware granite doesn’t grow?

2. comical, let him be short but strong enough to kick you painfully in the balls.

I still have favorite movies, but the list is too long to list them, I also create my own AU. One of them is WORLDTALE, which is, so to speak, a universal universe, it is a cross between Undertale, FNaF and several other worlds with the addition of OC characters created by me, I also create my own fan stories on various topics. I sincerely hate hating and trolling against me or harassing someone from my group of friends, I delete such people immediately, I like to live in harmony without the language of hate. Brain stop having thoughts for new fic ideas challenge. Level Impossible.

I just had this idea like five minutes ago so I just have a bare bones concept, but anyways it goes like this. (All under cut cause long).

King Halbert is going to another kingdom to work on a trade deal and the knights go with to protect him from potential threats. The other kingdoms royal family is impressed by the knights adventures , and hold a great feast in their honor and to work out their deal. 

While that party is going on Lance hits on the wrong person who turns out to be sorceress. She leads him back to her home where she turns him into a horse and ties him up in her stables. 

The other knights realize they’re missing one the next day and the other kingdoms prince points them to the sorceress and Axl goes to try to return Lance back to a human and he gets turned into a bull.

Macy goes next to see if she can talk to her, one independent woman to another. She gets turned into a tiny dragon. Finally Aaron tries to go and gets turned into a fox.

Aaron manages to escape and tries (and fails) to explain the situation to Clay. He eventually gets an ipad (or the Knighton equivalent of one) and types out what happened. Clay eventually goes, and the two talk for a bit. 

That’s as far as I’ve got so far. It takes place after Season 4, the sorceress’s name is Magnolia Wraith, and her home is a sanctuary for dryads and nymphs, ad she’s not afraid to get nasty in order to protect them from anything or anyone considered a threat (i.e. Lance Richmond). This is what she looks like.

Hello!! I've been meaning to ask for a while. In Nexo Swap what are Clay's motives to become evil? Are they like Jestro's from the show or is there anything more to that? I'm sorry if that's a dumb question , I'm just really interested in this AU.

Nah, it's not a dumb question at all! Glad you asked actually, as this was a main concept idea I was working on during my mini absence from Nexoswap fkjekjfe. While it’s not necessarily finalized and most likely would change in the foreseeable future, it's much more than I had before when I first brought this au to life.

To answer, Clay’s motivations to become evil are somewhat different than Jestors on account all the personalities in this au the same as in canon. This results in several events changing to fit on how the characters would act in certain situations, but still allow the story to progress the same.

In the beginning, the graduation events are still similar, if not almost identical, to what happens. The most change is with the rest of the knights as their intros have to change with what role they are presenting, Jestro and Clay however, are the most indifferent. Clay is still top knight with honor by his side, and Jestro is still the clumsy court jester.

But after the knights get handed their shields...an incident happens

I'm still struggling to come up with the events that lead up to the incident, but it still has the kingdom going into complete darkness. In short, a civilian in the audience ends up severely injured/dying when Clay was trying to save them during the incident. This...REALLY shook the kingdom, especially Clay due to witnessing the tragedy first-hand. Tying into his fear of failure, this really messed him up severely. Not even 10 minutes into his shielding, he fails to do the one thing he was sworn to do as a knight. Regret, same, and pure guilt consumed him into a full-blown panic, till eventually, he ran off just like Canon Jestro. He dropped his shield and sword in the process, mainly thinking he doesn't deserve them anymore after what he did. Jestro, who came out to see what the hell was going on, only managed to catch a glimpse of Clay as he ran off into the castle. 

After all that, Clay ends up in that familiar situation of confronting this au's "Book of Monsters" (which is a sword known as 'The Tainted Excalibur'). There, he gets gaslit into feeling he had no other option than to be a villain. He felt like he already failed as a knight, he feels like the kingdom already turned its back on him, he feels like his friends wouldn’t forgive him, his mind was in an awful place at this moment...So he ends up agreeing

Keep in mind, he isn't 100% willing, deep inside he didn't really wanna do this, but as soon as he grabbed the sword, it kinda did something to him. It's sorta like mind control/brainwashing in a way, just not as powerful, but it pushed him to dive deeper into the path of villainy that deep down he really didn't want. Unlike canon, the two were a bit more thorough with searching for specific books, resulting in the first evil book Clay technically touched/got was the book of Betrayal...and you know what that technically does.

Clay though, wasn't able to give a part of the sword's magic back to him as he was quickly interrupted by Jestro, who just wanted to give Clay's stuff back and to comfort him.

Things happen as normal, Clay summons Monsters using the sword as a staff (the Monsters got controlled in the process), Jestro gets beat up, Monstrox finds this happening and kills himself, etc. Thus begins the story of Nexo Swap

As I said, still revising this idea so that it feels like it fits within the Au/makes sense. It may change in the future, but at least provides a basis for everything. :)

I love calling my nk highschool au just “reverse fantasy au” it makes it special to me..

while I’m on the topic of the reverse fantasy au, I love messing around with the idea of what they would all wear,.. to suit their personalities properly.

For example, Lance would be the kid that ended up with proper posh fashion because he was dressed by his parents.

Meanwhile Macy has pure.. style. (mostly because for this au her family is just incredibly rich instead of being royalty.)

They’re like a bunch of idiots with a lack of actual common style sense and their single braincell.

I'VE FINALLY MADE SOME DRAWING YESSS!

Anyway this is just my take on Clay Moorington. Sorry but I can't draw armor (//YEAH NAERU YOU STUPID A**)

If you ever complained about the skin, lemme tell you reason why:

1. This artist is confused about darker skin color, but he's not that bright okay actually. I'm just too lazy to draw that pic so I just put random color using Pen (Fade)-like brush.

2. This design will be the checkpoint of my NEXO KNIGHTS X PROJECT SEKAI AU. In PROSEKA, there's no chara's with darker skin, sorry. But yeah, if you want him to be drawn as your version, go on. I'm safe for your HCS.

What the main checkpoint for my Clay design is the hair color -- the correct one is on chibi on the left, and eye colors.

1. During S1 until S3, Clay's eyes color are blue, his normal and natural one.

2. After being struck by Monstrox (S4E2), his eyes color are bright lemonish yellow (Chibi on left) and Grey Knight has same color as the stone color. Oh, don't forget that his eyes are lifeless.

3. During his awakening from stone, Clay's eyes color turned into normal blue, but added with orange (?) peach (?) whatever that highlight below (Him in the middle) This is inspired by a Korean artist who drew a chibi of how Clay's eye color and they made the eyes color like that, but they made them yellow. Clay's eyes remained that color for eternity. His eyes can turned into that yellow back if he's in trauma or having panic attack or anything that made him couldn't control himself and his magic.

(I too tried to make it yellow when I put in Screen mode it turned into that color so I just kept it like that. Besides, after some Tumblr-exploring and found a post about how magic in NK works, I think this color better because orange is quite color of Knighton)

4. He wears his blue gloves back, huzzah! Also he wore pendant. Explanations more on below when I rant about N25! Clay design.

And I made a lazy chibi of Clay in NEXO KNIGHTS X PROJECT SEKAI AU. Remember that I said he'll be in N25. Well, when I still work on plot, lemme give you some designs. (Drawn with zero motivation, sorry)

Some important things about his design.

1. In PRE-3RD ANNIV -Brand New World- Clay just wore kinda suit and vest, with black and blue colored ribbon. This followed with PRE-3RD ANNIV N25 original designs (that quite bland according to me)

2. In 3RD ANNIV and POST-3RD ANNIV -Brand New World- I put details on his design as what drawn. And I put some texture to follow the members design and added lotus flower on his robe just to follow the canon members' (As I rembered that Kanade and Mafuyu have iris flower, Ena has lily flower, Mizuki has germanium flower (?))

3. His eyes color followed what I designed him before. During beginning S3 his eyes still blue like before, during Grey Knight his eyes turn into stone-colored (As he turned into stone) and sometimes can turn into lemonish yellow color like above. After that, his final color is the same as checkpoint that I made for him.

4. Important things about 3RD ANNIV design:

A. His inner shirt actually have frills.

B. He wore blue pendant. At first, I don't know what type so some possibilities are tanzanite, sapphire, blue zircon, and aquamarine were the closest one. Tanzanite is meant a gemstone of transformation, symbolizes Clay's transformation in all aspects in his life. Blue zircon has a meaning to clear one's mind, symblolizes Clay's clearing mind from evil during turned into stone. Saphire symbolizes nobility, truth, sincerity, and faithfulness. Aquamarine symbolizes hapiness, hope, and everlasting youth. Yeah... You can think what type of gem that Clay uses.

C. If you saw clearly, the pendant ribbon and the veil whatever on his red shoulder had color of N25 members. The ribbon had reddish color, symbolizes Kanade's icon color. The veil had gradation of brown, purple, and pinkish color, symbolizes Ena, Mafuyu, and Mizuki.

D. He wears gloves on one side (Unlike PRE-3RD ANNIV design that he didn't use any glove, or the intial design from the first picture that he wears on both) If we follow the equality during NK stories, during S3 Clay thought it just for aesthetics. But after S4, Clay realized that it was to cover his glowing hands (IYKYK)

E. Don't forget, two garter belts on his left thighs. Just for details and accessories, no particular reason.

F. The robe he wears has gradients and textures following the N25 members design, and actually has 'cut' on his back so it's look like branched.

Wait... Okay, then that's it. I have initial HCs designs for the other Knights too and their PRSK unit clothes. I'll draw them when I have time and idea. So yeah, thank you.

I did promise that I will be an annoyance so here I come:

Stone Monsters Headcanons

In general, the magic system in Knighton is a soft one (I say after I watch one too many world-building tik toks). What that means is that it doesn't have hard outlines as to how it works.

Let's change that, hmm?

Monstrox is a necromancer, Wanda has weather powers and Merlock is a technomancer. (I haven't read anything other than the wiki. Just watched the show, got obsessed and here I am..) Merlock's nexo magic is iconic - very useful and always appears when you need it to. Almost as if it's a plot device. Its ability to enchant weapons and armor is extremely helpful when faced with Monstrox's... everything.

Now, Monstrox is interesting. As a necromancer we would assume what he does is bad and evil as they love to repeat in the show. And he is - insane and ambitious to boot. While I have no idea what made the Wizards' Council / Merlock spare him, his knowledge and power were locked into the Book of Monsters. That knowledge was what allowed him to - from what I can comprehend - summon, create, manifest the monsters. They weren't strong monsters, after all, Monstrox was stuck in leather, between pages. He had limited power - that's what evoked the whole let's search for all the evil books scattered around the realm.

And even their collection failed to resurrect him, seeing as everything blew up in the end. But the ritual still worked partially - it was a ritual to grant him a new form; magic, energy can't just go away, disappear! - so it gave him a form that was more well-suited for his magic. Hence the cloud.

And that's when we arrive at what I call my favorite brain rot. Monstrox's resurrection spell. The one that breathes life into stone. I do think Monstrox's spell is a combination of a few different necromantic spells, but that's for later. The stone monsters are sworn to his allegiance in a way I doubt the lava monsters were. Some of them exhibit some intelligence but none have discernable personalities other than a select few. Why?

Seeing as that spell, erased Clay's entire moral system while keeping his tenacity and determination, his desire to serve a cause, I doubt it's just personality erasure. But a spell can't just turn someone evil.

That's stupid! Evil is such a subjective thing and it's so nuanced that a simple wave of a hand or I guess zap with lightning doesn't just- just- evilize someone! So I made a chart!

There are three types of monsters in my book. (I'm not talking about how they look or their functions. I'm not talking about bouldrons, gargoyles, harpies, etc. I'm classifying them into categories!)

Type 1: The statues, given life. The bouldrons, the gravellers, etc. The one that get zapped and start destroying everything in sight. The ones that we see zooming around in the background in most episodes.

Type 2: The magically imbued statues. The statues put there with a reason - like the gargoyles. Haven't you wondered why there are so many gargoyles? Only a few of them appear smart so those are the few that I put in this type. Harpies are here too. Why? Because I think they were demons or something similar summoned to do Monstrox's bidding before they got petrified by the wizards' council. (I have their whole backstory written somewhere, I will share it later.)

Basically, type 1 is just making a statue move with densely charged, magical energy that imbues them with malicious intent. Type 2 has to work with what little magic the statue has locked within itself. That takes more power out of the initial blast, which is why type 2 monsters don't have to be constantly on the move - more of the magic has to work to diverge the energy channels within the vessel.

I love magical theory, guys

Now, type 3 is my favorite so far. That's the statue that was once human. Have you looked at how one brain works - it's all chemistry. Little electrical pulses send to and from different parts of it. In type 3 monsters, 3/4 of Monstrox's magic blast / ressurection spell go towards the mind. It has to change the being's priorities, to change the person's alleigence strictly to Monstrox. The other 1/4 goes towards making their body function in the way it has before - or as close as a living rock can get.

Ruina is a great example why this clarification works, Krakenskull, too. They were separate people, warlords in their own right before they got hit by Monstrox's magic, and then suddenly they readily follow his orders? And he doesn't worry about them betraying him? Sure, one can argue with Ruina ever being a warlord on her own but Krakenskull? He had his own army and then he was okay with someone else using it? Yeah right.

*takes a deep breath* I got a bit sidetracked. ...a lot sidetracked. But basically yeah. I have a lot of feelings about the magic in Nexo Knights and I am so sharing them with you. Just you wait!

Not an update for the story, but my mind suddenly said to me, during season 3 of Lego Nexo Knights. Clay visiting the Empty Sekai, thinking he might finally have a rest from his training and a deserve rest because the part of his body that got turned to a stone need a rest as well.

Well, after Niigo KAITO came to Empty Sekai, he mostly observed Clay whenever he visit or if Mafuyu is not in Empty Sekai for the time being. Niigo KAITO, being the manifestation of fury he is, fed up with Clay's bullshit.

That man is just like Mafuyu, don't know his own path and just follow something or someone to make his sense of self worth being correct, and Kanade, makes sure everyone is safe and sound first but then neglect his own thought and body.

But after Clay being turn to stone, he is rarely visiting the Sekai no more... The others of course worried for their father figure male member, but N25 members have no idea where Clay live, that's what makes their job harder than before...

KAITO then have an idea and of course, he is not planning to tells the others. He summon himself on Clay's phone, but unbeknownst to him, what he saw is a figure of Clay Moorington but what's more shocking to him is that, Clay is a stone?!

His whole body is literal stone?! Like, there's not a single part of his skin that appear flesh nor his clothes appear to be soft... He is, a literal stone...

Clay notice the light from his phone and saw KAITO. And right there, KAITO can see everything clearly on what's happening in Clay's eyes. There's a shocked, fear, and anger?

Before KAITO could say anything, Clay, with a panicking and frustration inside of his mind, grab his phone and accidently destroy it.

And then, after the season 4 of Nexo Knights end, Clay's phone, another gift from Lance when he heard Clay's old phone has broken, is working again. Then he finally visiting the Empty Sekai.

Everyone seeing Clay again have started to bombard him with questions, where is he, how is he, why he didn't come again, what's happening...

Until KAITO walk towards him and grab a hold on his right hand, the hand that have his full magic in it. Everyone didn't realise about the hand and more questions appearing on their mind again.

Clay, of course, try to explain them about it the best he could. Meanwhile, KAITO still observing him, still thinking... Yeah, his traumatized.
