magic doesn’t have to be complicated. rub an essential oil on a candle and light it. that person who’s been annoying you? write their name on a piece of paper and freeze it. fill a bowl with saltwater to cleanse your room. find a rock, imagine that it’s whatever you want to banish from your life, and throw it really hard into the street (…don’t hit a car). make a wish on a dandelion or a birthday candle. drink some lemonade for cleansing and positivity. tie a colored ribbon around your bedpost or doorknob. put some flowers on your nightstand.
a spell isn’t more effective just because it involves a bunch of ingredients and incantations and details.

Happy Easter 🐣🐰 to those who celebrate!
I haven’t written a ton but I’m sharing anyways because why not? This is from the same WIP I shared from last week, tentatively titled Back and Back and Back. Watford-era, main plot still under wraps for now. But here’s a bit from Simon:
If it had been flying monkeys or paindeer again, I could have handled them no problem. But instead [the Humdrum] kidnapped Agatha and put her at the bottom of a well guarded by a wishy-washy, which is just about the most obnoxious magickal creature known to mages. You can’t fight them, they're non-corporeal. The only way you can appease them is by making a wish they want to grant. Except, you can guess by their name, they’re very fickle creatures. Naturally, it took me hours to word it just right. (I wish for this young woman’s freedom to pursue her own destiny.) (How I came up with that, after hours of cajoling, pleading and otherwise tearing my hair out, I’ll never know.)
Making up magickal creatures. One of my fave past times. 😂
Taggies!

VENUS IN CAPRICORN: LOVE OF AN ETHEREAL DEITY.
For souls with venus in Capricorn, love is fortitude and wiseful grace.
I see Capricorn as ethereal - a deity of the seas shaped in the form of an elder lady goat, with long tails of seaweed entwined into her fur. She is mostly still, she rarely moves from the depths of her cove - when she does, it comes with a heavy swiftness.
The love of a Capricorn Venus is both magnetic and repelling, rising into an effervescence that guides you into a crystallisation of your truest self, simply by witnessing Capricorn's presence. She is the mother of internal reaping, for joyous outer benefit. The underwater cave.

Evolution, Adaptation, Growth
When the Dragonfly flies into your life, you are being asked to adapt to the circumstances at hand. Change is coming, whether you like it or not, and how you react will be a test of your character. The Dragonfly aids you in upholding your integrity, perseverance, and flexibility, testing your faith in the process. The Dragonfly appears to remind you of your higher power, that even though you are being thrown into the hands of fate, you have everything at your disposal to handle whatever comes your way.
The Dragonfly can change direction with ease, creating flight patterns that often appear effortless. Once you get the hang of these cycles, you too will be generating your own flight patterns and will be able to navigate these curveballs with ease. The Dragonfly invites you to look at the silver lining. Ask yourself, "Why is this showing up for me and what can I learn from it?" Only then will you grow.

Instrumental Magic
for more musically-inclined witches :)
Create a sigil or amulet for intonation
Enchant your cleaning supplies to not only physically clean your instrument, but spiritually cleanse it too
If you use a reed, soak it in moonwater for an extra magical touch
Keep crystals in your instrument case! Personally I use pyrite for confidence + positivity, and hematite for anti-anxiety (feel free to put these on your stand, too)
Write sigils in your sheet music around particularly difficult spots in order to play them with ease
If you work with any music-related deities, maybe keep a necklace or crystal devoted to them in your case
Speaking of deities, perform a song for them! Maybe channel them and do some improv, see what you come up with
Create a musical spell! Compose a piece with your intention in mind and play it to cast it.
Cleanse your space or tools by playing a song
If you can decorate your instrument or case, perhaps add some sigils, runes, or alchemical symbols
Do a spell to motivate you to practice… lol

You know, an underrated aspect of the otherkin experience is how it's put me in touch with my human animality too. We talk a lot about how creatureish nonhuman instincts can feel, but not so much about the fact that human instincts can be pretty creatureish too. Embracing my dragonself has let me embrace my human animal without shame too - my Animalself, as werewolf magick views it, has both aspects.
This post brought to you by berry-picking which is a very Human (Creature) activity for me
