Yeah I'm afraid out of all the characters so far Caleb is genuinely the most interesting one. Give me a fucked up mutual hostages situation with prior history and slow torture amnesia over time over past lives bullshit literally anytime š and at least for him going really fast between I'm angry furious at you and I love makes way more sense than the guy sequestrating and torturing you for three whole days out of nowhere before instantly being your friend.
#im gonna say something that might be controversial to fans of east asian stories. but i really feel like past lives bullshit is lazy writing#allows you to completely circumvent the hows and whys a relationship can be created and the forces that oppose it#you can just go ooohgg yeah but in past livesss#making for completely 2D characters#even more frustrating when you see how they could have jumped that super easily and made wonderful complex stories and characters#like sorry but personally i dont care about the god of the oceans and that one god over two planets that 'ever actually did anything#esp when zayne had every justification in this life for his being so difficult to enter a relationship between his trauma and his evol#he didnt need those flashbacks of the future. they bring nothing.

I've lost any interest in Submas because of what the fanbase did to Volo, stripped him of all his redeeming qualities to turn him into a Ghetsis clone. And yet no matter how many times I see it, my heart inwardly screams "LOOK HOW THEY MASSACRED MY BOY".
Oh my god yes. Volo has been done dirty so badly by the Submas fandom and other people who enjoy him to the point of it being the default.
Volo is a fairly complex character. He canāt be reduced to āunhinged and will hurt people when given the chance lolā or whatever else the fandom likes to do all for the sake of making things angstier, especially when it comes to Submas. In-game, heās in more of a grey area and comes off as a character with issues having a bad moment, not an overall bad person. I'd put him somewhere around the same level as Archie and Maxie in terms of how much of a villain he is:
-Not entirely a bad guy, just bad ideas, bad solutions to problems (that might only be a personal problem for him or a select few, we know he had a rough life but we arenāt told how or why, but it has created his entire worldview and motivation)
-Might not have actually followed through with his plan anyway (he does have things he genuinely cares about, and say what you will about salty and rude Togepis in Hisui but he had high enough friendship with one to get a Togekiss)
-His feelings of being wronged in life and wanting to hold someone or something accountable, get answers, maybe an apology or to make things right is a fairly common human experience. He just lives in a world with magical monsters where confronting one with the ability to instantly change things is a definite possibility.
-Unlikely Arceus would have listened to him, Giratina did not want to listen to him (and Giratina is the failsafe when Dialga and Palkia are out of commission), so even though he appeared to have the means to reshape the world, he really did not
-Accepted the player character defeated him, stopped antagonizing, and probably left Hisui to sort out his issues
-Also is NOT responsible for Ingo being in Hisui (I did make a huge in-depth post about how he could have gotten there, and the evidence does NOT stack up in favor of Volo being the cause)
Sometimes it feels like people didnāt interact with PLA in any capacity and just go with whatever the fandom says about these characters, or else just donāt care about canon whatsoever, and that can be really alienating to other fans. Especially when other fans do like the canon characterization and all they can find is ooc depictions, bad takes, and anything else where it's essentially Volo in appearance only.
I know some people have said they never want to see Volo interact with Submas ever again, and I agree. Cr*zytr*inshipping and tr*inwr*ckshipping are built on ableism, the idea that mental illness is āscaryā, and grossly mischaracterizing Volo, and at least Emmet (not sure about Ingo because I refuse to bother with content containing these ships or even interactions between these characters).
Volo deserves so much better. Iām sorry fandom spaces are not kind to him.
#sorry to go off but I'm done with people doing these things and making people unable to interact with fan works of their favorite characters#I watched the fandom just completely do a disservice to Submas and Volo and then many of them moved onto Nemona and Arven#It's like they can't handle characters being multifaceted or something...gotta reduce them to 2D cardboard cutouts of one trait...#...and the one trait is often actually ooc or just taken so far out of context and...#...it ruins it for everyone who actually interacted with the source material and enjoys the characters as they are!

"Go See The Day the Earth Blew Up" Masterpost
this isn't really anything new for anyone following me, but i wanted to make a comprehensive post covering my adamence on seeing this movie--i have a lot of different versions of a lot of different posts being spread around, and wanted to uncross the wires a bit. entering Tumblr PSA mode for a bit like it's 2013 all over again--bear with me!
before getting into the nitty gritty, though, this is a TIME SENSITIVE POST. most theaters were beginning to pull the film out as early as end of day TODAY--not even a full WEEK'S worth of a run. but, thanks to word of mouth, the film has mostly been extended to the end of the weekend. with continued word of mouth and support, the film has a chance to run even longer.
What the Heck is The Day the Earth Blew Up
The Day the Earth Blew Up is an all traditionally hand-drawn, 2D animated film starring Looney Tunes' own Porky Pig, Daffy Duck and Petunia Pig. initially announced in September of 2021, it's the very first all traditionally animated film in the franchise's entire 95 year run.
Why Haven't I Heard About The Day the Earth Blew Up
originally intended to be a direct to streaming release, this film's existence has been wrung through the wringer. for the benefit of tax cuts, Warner Bros. wrote the film off and just barely avoided axing it entirely--even during its production. the film was put up for sale and only just last summer finally was able to procure an independent distributor, Ketchup Entertainment. unfortunately, Ketchup Entertainment is a much smaller name than Warner Bros. is, and because WB isn't releasing it, it's Ketchup who is marketing and spreading the film--obviously, something incredibly difficult to do with a very small budget.
Why the Heck Should I See The Day the Earth Blew Up
hand-drawn, traditionally animated films are all but extinct in theaters, and by setting the film up for what could essentially be described as sabotage, a meager box office performance is the perfect excuse for the suits to claim that there's no more demand for traditionally animated movies anymore.
it's the first all-animated Looney Tunes film in the entire franchise's history.
you don't have to have any knowledge or attachment to the characters to enjoy the film--there are absolutely no prerequisites required (but there are plenty of loving nods to fellow fans of the film.) i dragged my best friend to see this with me who doesn't have the same LT brain parasite that i do and she absolutely loved it.
WB just axed the entire LT library of shorts off of HBO Max, as well as gutted all of the cartoons freely available on their YouTube channel--there seems to be a clear embarrassment for the franchise on their behalf, and seeing the film proves that notion dead wrong.
supporting the film spreads the message that there is a demand for the love and craft that goes into these films. you will genuinely be experiencing history in the making--when's the last time you've seen a brand new, all traditionally animated film in the theaters from the States?
crew members themselves are urging you to spread your support and mention how it empowers them to keep making more
the money goes to Ketchup, not Zaslav--you don't have to worry about boycotting the film. the absolute opposite is necessary.
supporting this film could potentially spawn similar films with similar opportunities. Eric Bauza himself has mentioned that suport and turnout for this film could see a potential revival in Coyote vs. ACME, another film victim to WB's tax writeoffs all in the name of the dollar
EDIT: Ketchup Entertainment is in talks with WB to distribute Coyote vs ACME!!! because of the word of mouth and positivist surrounding The Day the Earth Blew Up!! keep it coming!!

it's likely that the film will be completely overshadowed by the Snow White remake, with theaters initially beginning to pull screens to make way for early previews. what could be more poetic than supporting an all traditionally hand-drawn film over a cash-grab remake of the very first feature length traditionally hand-drawn film?
How Else Can I Support The Day the Earth Blew Up
GO SEE IT! go see it again! go see it with your siblings, your friends, your family! tell your coworkers! reblog this post! spread the news! keep the conversation going!
pre-orders for the Blu-ray, releasing May 27th, are already scheduled
there's a limited edition run of 1,000 copies for the film's soundtrack on vinyl!
said soundtrack is also available on YouTube, which you should likewise listen to! get those view counts up!
Why the Heck Should I Listen to You
i'm asking myself the same thing! but, i do want to put this out there: i get it. i usually do not like being a walking advertisement. i know this is full on shill-mode and you're surely asking "you're being paid, aren't you" (i wish!). i also share the Ferocious Contrarian Gene where seeing posts like these is an instant way for me to NOT want to see the film. i genuinely understand how pushy and obnoxious this can come off. especially since, clearly, i'm a little biased to the franchise and these characters. i also balk at the guilt trippy idea of "YOU'RE A MONSTER IF YOU DON'T SUPPORT THIS FILM YOU KILLED ANIMATION". i HATE that rhetoric with a passion, and that only is going to alienate people from wanting to see this further. please know that's not the intent of my messaging here at all.
but even beyond my personal biases, i really think this is a film worth supporting. movies like this are a once-in-a-lifetime event anymore, and that could only be exacerbated by how this film's fate is handled. i've been overjoyed with the amount of messages i've received from people who said they caught the film on a whim and enjoyed it--especially from those without a clear LT bias like myself. it's proven that this film is enjoyable for anyone.
also, just, spite. the reason you haven't heard about it is by design. this film has been set up to fail. and while the success shouldn't be the sole responsibility or burden of the consumers, but instead the higher-ups, you are making a difference by supporting and spreading word of mouth of this film. crew members themselves are saying so. the distributor themselves are saying so.
i'm not expecting a miracle for this film, as much as i'd love one. i will genuinely be surprised if it makes a profit (which it should at a measly $15 million, pennies compared to most features that look much worse than this). but that's all the more reason to TRY rather than give up and say there's nothing we can do. you all have been making such a wonderful difference. that energy needs to continue, not dwindle. every single person is able to make a difference.
there are a lot worse ways you could be spending your time than spending an hour and a half at the theaters enjoying some gorgeous traditionally hand-drawn animation on the big-screen, feeling good that you're helping to spread a message and supporting the hard, loving craft of the people who worked on it. imagine if all "good turn"s in the world could be as fun and easy as seeing an animated comedy!

Would you say Vil beats Leona in the scandalous chest territory or is Vil's chest too small

ARE YOU FR AsKING ME tO COMPARE VIL AnD L*onA BOObS š What has my life come to⦠OTL
If you take a look at both Vilās Luxe Couture and Relax in Room models, youāll see that both are lower cut than Leonaās School Uniform and Playful Dress.
Leonaās Halloween Dress is lower cut than Vilās Luxe Couture and Relax in Room outfits. However, the opening for his Halloween shirt is slimmer than both of Vilās looks. Vil seems to be showing more skin overall despite his cut being higher than Leonaās.
This was actually mathematically confirmed by Discord user Murtha:
If we take a look at the Episode of Octavinelle manga, Leona seems to sleep completely shirtless, sooo... I guess if you count the manga, Leona has Vil beat in the "who is more exposed" competition š¤”
In terms of their actual physiques, I tried to find the most skintight outfits for both Vil and Leona to compare. That would be Vilās Beans Camp and Leonaās Magift/Spelldrive Uniform! Aaah, but itās difficult to see any real dimension⦠We also donāt see enough of Leonaās to compare him to Vilās from the earlier models.
We should keep in mind that the live 2D models donāt always accurately reflect the actual characters! (Think about how different the P.E. Uniforms for Silver and Sebek are much beefier in their card artwork than in their models, or how Malleus should reasonably tower over all other characters on the game screen.) So it may not be fair to even use Vil and Leonaās models as reference.
Based on in-universe lore and not personal bias whatsoever/j, I do believe that Vil would be less⦠defined⦠since he does indicate that he doesnāt want to become too muscular. From his P.E. Uniform voice lines: āHarmony between one's body and attire is paramount. I have to be careful to avoid getting...āswole,ā as it were.ā Epel also notes that Vil's physique is that of a "beanpole", stating: "This beanpole (Vil) ain't nothin' compared ta the Savanaclaw housewarden." This is in contrast to Leona, who does appear to engage in physical activity or training, at least for his club activities even if heās often depicted as napping or slacking off.
So!! My conclusion is: Vil is showing more skin, but Leona strikes me as⦠larger in size š if that makes sense! Both scandalous, but in different ways.
Outside of Vil and Leona though, Beachwear/Tropical Wear Floyd has the most open shirt (while still technically being closed); it exposes his belly button too. If we're counting open shirts too, Beachwear/Tropical Wear Jack is showing the most boobage.
... And here's some more math (also done by Murtha!) to prove it:
The SSR and SR Beachwear/Tropical Wear cards all feature the characters completely shirtless as well. That count includes Floyd, Lilia, Riddle, and Ace!

Well, I did it
Megatron - I love his tfp design. Probably one of the best iteration of Megs. He is huge, heavy armoured, his face covered with scars⦠He doesnāt looks like an ordinary military leader who is only capable of giving orders, but like real warrior who can destroy any enemy with his bare hands.
So, in the WOF version, he definitely shares some features with Princess Burn, not only because of his might, but also because of his horns shape and dirty-dark scales (that absorbed blood of his enemies)

Starscream - Boy, I hate him so much š¤£ā¦ but in the good way, trust me! In my opinion, when the show's creators make you feel such strong negative emotions towards a villain, it means they've done a great job. Also, I think that his animation in the show was absolutely incredible, because even though he's a 3D model, he still manages to move like a 2D character, which is amazing!
I feel that in my design he still looks more like a skywing, than an icewing (which is kinda logical)

Soundwave - This one was tricky. I couldn't figure out what his mask would look like, so I just made his face a really dark color. I think Soundwave has both gifts of the nightwings, and heās equally great at telepathy and a future vision. So he doesn't really need equipment to predict enemy movements, which makes him an ideal communicator in the WOF setting. His Laserbeak is part of the armor enchanted by Shockwave, and it might also allow him to open portals (but I'm not sure with this one)

Shockwave - My favourite evil genius. He would definitely have animus magic and mind reading. I think Shockwave is the only one who has advanced the study of magic so far, precisely because he combined it with scientific knowledge and created safer methods of using it, that don't damage the mind. It's like if a Mastermind got animus magic in books.
I also like to think that he didn't heal the damaged part of his face just so that his enemies would fear him more)

Dreadwing - This man deserved better! It's really a shame that he was removed from the show so quickly due to financial problems. It would be great if his arc got a proper conclusion in season 3.
Considering that I didn't want to make him a hybrid, it was difficult to choose a suitable color palette. So letās just say, that I tried my bestš
I donāt think that he would have any nightwing powers, but honestly it doesnāt even matter - this guy can make a bombs, what else does he need to be cool

Arachnid - Did anyone even doubt that she would be a hivewing? Damn, she even got her own āOthermindā virus. Her design was the easiest to work with - just a little poisonous ass (suspiciously similar to Maleficent).
Just like Starscream, I hate her, but in a good way. She's one of the creepiest characters in the entire series, whoās acting like a fucking heartless monster, especially with Arcee, but even so, there's always was something mesmerizing about her. I just really like strong female villains

Knockout - Wery bright and charismatic guy, definitely one of my fav cons!
I tried to draw him as handsome as possible. Worked a lot on the face shape and coloring, and as for me it turned out pretty nice (finally).
Most decepticons think Knockout is as stupid and lazy as all the other rainwings. And it's not like he completely disagrees with that. Of course heās not stupid and lazy, but if itās means less dirty work on the battlefield, well, heāll continue act like a tipical rainwing
(I also believe that Megatron keeps him as an āartā)

Breakdown - Fun fact: "Operation Breakdown" was the very first thing I saw in this series. And it was an interesting experience for 8 year old me. Maybe that's why I'm so scared of eye gouging scenes in movies nowā¦
I think that he didn't have any siblings initially due to his parents nature, and even after meeting Bulkhead, he felt uncomfortable among the other mudwings. And this is why he later chose the side of the decepticons. And maaaaybe because of one cute rainwing influence)

P.s.
I think that, being mostly nightwings and icewings, the decepticons are much more concerned about purity of their blood and rarely accept half-breeds into their ranks.
During the war, there were many animus dragons among decepticons, which is why they have so many artifacts that allowed teleportation and communication at a distance. But, honestly, I still can't imagine what Nemesis would look like in this AU

Explaining Silver the Hedgehog's Eyes
Silver's eyes are another nuanced and sometimes confusing aspect of his character. So in this post I'll go over the nuances and meaning of their design. There are three key details to understand about Silver's eyes.
Part One: First, we have the shape. Silver's eyes have an angular shape with pointed upper corners to them.
I liken this shape to the upper wings of a butterfly.

This can be easy to miss due to how his 3D models are rendered and how they line up with his quills but always becomes more noticeable whenever Silver squints or closes his eyes. Just like Shadow and Jet's eyes they don't always end in a sharp point but they do always end in a somewhat pointed upper corner for the butterfly wing shape.

This is what's called Tsurime(meaning upturned eyes), which in character design represents aggressiveness, strong will, danger and/or general seriousness in a character in contrast to tareme(meaning downturned eyes) or round eyes which generally represents softness.
I will refer to Tsurime Eyes as Danger Eyes or Blade Eyes and Tareme Eyes as Soft Eyes.
If you've ever seen Yu-Gi-Oh!, this is the main visual difference between Yugi and Yami Yugi. It is also the main difference between Tails' bullies from Sonic Origins.

These eye types can express more than just seriousness or softness. Rouge has round eyes yet is very mature and can be even more serious than Knuckles(who has Danger Eyes) while someone like Fang the Hunter has sharp Danger Eyes yet is a very comedic villain.

All of Sonic's main rivals(Metal Sonic, Knuckles, Shadow, Blaze, Jet, Silver and Surge) have Danger Eyes while Sonic himself normally has round Soft Eyes to show his carefree nature but also gains sharp Danger Eyes when he transforms into Super Sonic or the Werehog to show that he's in a more aggressive and serious state.

Silver's 3D character models have usually had eyes that appear more round compared to his 2D art but his newest character model has the sharpest eyes yet and is the most like his 2D art.
Part Two: Next, we have the black patterns(officially called black patterns in Sonic Speed Drawing) around Silver's eyes. The part that is easy to miss here is that the patterns run all the way around his eyes and under his front quills, similar to Blaze's eyeliner.

This detail can be easy to miss because the patterns do stop at the sides of his eyes on his in game 06 model(but not the pre-rendered cutscene model) and later media rarely show Silver at an angle where you can see them.
Part Three: Lastly, we have how they intersect with his leaf hair. Silver actually has bangs that cover the top parts of his eyes and perfectly line up with the upper corners which we can see by comparing the concept art of Silver to Super Silver where his quills rise up and reveal a bit more of his eyes.

This can be a source of confusion itself because the quills cover/perfectly line up with the upper corners of his eyes and leave what appears to be the round sides, making them appear completely round if you don't look closely.

In Summary: Silver has butterfly wing shaped eyes, black patterns around them and his front quills are bangs that partially cover them. Know these three details and you can always draw Silver's eyes right!

Dropping into the Mel convo to add that I don't see how the stans that erase/ignore the Things She Actually Does And Says and claim she was just helping Jayce out of the goodness of her heart can claim that anyone pointing out that she's a billionaire imperialist who manipulated him for her own gain is racist when THEY'RE the ones claiming she spent all of season 1 helping a nonblack man for. idk. reasons. Why is it "better" for her to be a Black woman who supported a man and asked for nothing in return...?
That reading of her makes everything with her mother make no sense. Is she like, just mad her mom is interfering with her ability to Support and Love Jayce? Lmao.
The reading that the text and the inherent set up of the politics of Piltover/Zaun supports is a complex woman with her own personal motivations, wanting to live up to the image of the family she believes shunned her on her own (nonviolent) terms, using the craft of social engineering (manipulation, etc) within the political and economic sphere rather than through weaponry and warfare. She starts to shift due to growing some actual attachment to Jayce, but it's not a perfect switch flip, and then her mother arriving forces Mel to contend with what she had actually been doing by "preparing" the city for her family.
That's infinitely more interesting than "oh she just helped this guy out of the kindness of her pure heart and because he's hot" and also has canonical basis that can be pointed to In The Text. That's a complicated, multifaceted character. The fanon Mel who just helped Jayce because she's a good person is a flat, tired trope.
And personally, I find people who "love" characters but have completely inaccurate readings of them to be far more annoying than people who "hate" characters but understand them perfectly. Love/hate is just a matter of taste. If someone can spend time honestly analyzing a character, that's more important than ten thousand blandly positive comments or tweeted out fanfictions dressed up as appreciation.
Paragraph #2 on this actually blindsided me like I could kiss you on the cheek (consensually) rn I've never been able to properly articulate WHY the take rankled me so much even when I tried to see it from a completely best-possible-intentions perspective. And this gets it. It's like you're not even flattening her into a girlboss caricature, it's worse, you're actually making her a 2D saccharine pastry servant with no will of her own except furthering some man's narrative as his mommy and denying the one massive, defining character conflict Mel has in the entire show: she is her mother's daughter! She IS a wolf in sheepskin!
When you have all this power, all this privilege and resources at your disposal from day 1, and you choose to look the other way - what happens then? Is this really being kinder than her mother? Is this being merciful, or just prolonging a sort of system-wide torture? It's absolutely relevant to how we see kid-Mel in that flashback from s1 too. Her idea of mercy and salvation from her mother's more violent ends is to enslave someone. She puts it in gentle terms and dresses it up fancily as a beneficial thing to both parties, but that is what she is proposing, in the context of the Noxus' hostile invasion of Ionia; they'd chain that princess and mold her in training until she became an useful asset in their service. Is that kindness? Is that good? I don't think Mel is able to answer to this even in her big age during season 1.
She certainly thinks it could be, when compared to death, but it's also a lie she tells herself while she ignores the rest of the world and the place she holds within it. Mel hates getting her hands dirty, because she's never /had/ to do that to enjoy the brilliant spoils of success; her mother loves her enough to make sure she could avoid the bloodshed. She carries the strategist's fallacy of thinking whole wars and countries can be managed from the privileged seats up top, out of touch with the blood and gristle. From up there, when people die you don't see it. You can mark the numbers off as necessary collateral damage in the path to Exponential Growth.
The core assumption that has always bothered me is defining this as 'kindness' without actually examining what it says about her character and the story. She was created that way for a reason. She was clothed in this way for a reason. The first fact we learn about Mel in the first episode she appears in is that she is the richest person in the entire city, and then there is a 10 year timeskip, and she hasn't truly done anything to address or prop up the undercity at all (they are ONE city too, under her own philosophy; Zaun is only a separate entity in the mouths of the zaunites who want freedom.) In that context, when her goal of statecraft clearly is to continue advancing Piltover as much as it can be advanced and do nothing about the screaming bleeding diseased dying hordes below the bowels of her capital - is that goodness? Is that really better than mother? I think Mel's arc is about finding out really quickly and really horrifically that it isn't, and that she played a big part in making a lot of things worse.
It's not that she failed at her job, it's quite the opposite. She succeeded in her mission so incredibly well her mother could swoop into power in a single day and then put another hundred necks to the blade, no sweat, and Mel has to reckon with what that says about her, and what she thought of herself. The power she has obviously always had and never sought to use as it Should have been used.
The idealistic future-path here is that now in full control of her Mother's armies, she's returning to Noxus to challenge the predatory system it perpetuates on a world scale, but only god knows what we'll see come January. And all of this is infinitely more interesting to me than docile fandomized ship accessory n.9999

God I love animation. I love it for the way it can bring anything to life beyond the constraints of boring ol' reality, but also the ways that it's inextricably linked to, and draws on the conventions of live-action film-making.
So fuck it, let's look at how Hayao Miyazaki straight up copies some camera framing techniques from his predecessor and the other most influential Japanese filmmaker of all time, Akira Kurosawa! (Kurosawa really was the master of framing scenes around his characters, so he's a great source of inspiration)
(btw, this is a screenshot from this TV special where the two met for the first time just after the release of Kurosawa's final film. It's pretty interesting, and also very cute how nervous Miyazaki seems to be to meet one of his idols.)
Specifically, how the two each choose to break the 180 degree rule (well, not technically 'break' in the case of Kurosawa) to show their protagonists' changing destiny in "Throne of Blood" and "Princess Mononoke".
For anyone who doesn't know, the 180 degree rule is a basic film-making rule of thumb which states that in any scene where two characters interact, you should draw an imaginary line between them and the camera should always stay on one side of that line.
("In the Mood for Love" - Wong Kar-wai)
This way, one character is always looking to the right of the camera, the other is always looking to the left, and the audience doesn't get confused by the geography of the scene. Crossing this line can be disorienting, but when done intentionally, it can convey a paradigm shift of some kind in the scene.
In this scene from "Throne of Blood," (a feudal Japanese retelling of Macbeth) Washizu's wife Asaji discusses tactics with him and tries to convince him to aspire to the throne and to assassinate his lord Tsuzuki while he sleeps.
As two servants appear to notify them that Washizu's sleeping quarters are prepared, the camera dollies left and around the characters' backs. This camera movement is motivated by the motion of the servants' torches outside the room, but it also signifies a change in Washizu's outlook.
Washizu is completely silent for most of this scene, contemplating his wife's advice. But as the camera slides behind his back and across the line of action, the scene is now re-framed, illustrating his change in perspective.
He's been convinced and the trajectory of his life is about to change - and now, facing away from the camera, is the time for action.
Because the camera slides smoothly across the line, Kurosawa isn't technically breaking the 180 degree rule. Miyazaki on the other hand, takes it a little further.
The complimentary scene in Princess Mononoke comes near the start when the wise woman of the village reads Prince Ashitaka's fortune after he's cursed by the wild boar spirit. She tells him that it is his fate to leave the village and travel to the west, where he may be able to lift the curse on his arm. The trajectory of Ashitaka's life changes in this moment too. As he accepts his fate, the change is symbolized by him cutting off his hair, but also by the camera jumping the line.
Throughout this dialogue scene and even as he cuts his hair, the simulated camera sits just slightly to the side of Ashitaka's left shoulder.
But once it's done, for the final shot, the scene is reframed and we jump to the other side, where Ashitaka is now looking to the right of the camera instead of the left.
Making the camera dolly across a scene like Kurosawa's version in 2D animation is no simple task, so this transition with a simple cut is in a way subtler, in another way a bit more jarring, but it conveys the same meaning.
This is the moment when our protagonists make the choice to embark on a new destiny and re-frame their lives.
This has been an excerpt from a short video essay I made a while back, which not many people watched. I think this is at least in part due to my failure to package it well, and it seems you tumblheads like this animation/cinematography analysis stuff, so this is an experiment to see if, with the help of y'all, and a new title and thumbnail, it's at all possible to give this video a second wind in the eyes of the Youtube Gods!
So if you found this interesting, I'd appreciate if you checked it out! Thanks for reading!

Jelousy, Jelousy
(Jeonghan X Reader)
Genre: Fluff, Romance, Comedy, Jealousy
Summary: Youāve been obsessing over Michael Kaiser from Blue Lock lately, constantly gushing about his confidence, charm, and most importantly, his platinum blonde and blue-streaked hair. Jeonghan, your ever-mischievous yet slightly jealous boyfriend, isnāt one to be outshined by a 2D character. The next day, he comes home with the exact same hair, a smirk playing on his lips, daring you to compare. But when he pulls you in for a possessive, jealousy-fueled kiss, itās clear who the real winner is.
Spoiler: It was never a competition to begin with.
āYouāre staring at him again.ā
Jeonghanās voice is laced with mild irritation as he watches you fawn over yet another Michael Kaiser edit on your phone.
āAnd?ā you hum, still completely absorbed in your fictional obsession.
Jeonghan leans in closer, peering at the screen. āI donāt get it. Whatās so great about him?ā
You gasp dramatically, clutching your chest. āHow dare you? Look at him! His confidence, his arrogance, his hairāā
Jeonghan crosses his arms. āThe hair, huh?ā
You nod eagerly. āPlatinum blonde with blue streaks? Itās so cool. If I ever saw a guy like that in real life, Iād probably faint.ā
Jeonghan scoffs, shaking his head. āUnbelievable.ā Then, without another word, he gets up and leaves the room.
You blink, confused. āJeonghan?ā
But heās already gone.
The next day, Jeonghan comes home and you almost do faint.
Standing before you, looking ridiculously smug, is your boyfriend with his freshly dyed platinum blonde and blue hair.
Your jaw drops. āW-whatāā
He flicks his hair back, showing off the way the cool blue streaks blend perfectly with the blonde. āSo?ā he smirks. āStill drooling over that anime guy, orā¦?ā
Your mouth opens, but no words come out.
Jeonghan steps closer, tilting his head. āCat got your tongue?ā His voice is playful, but his eyes hold something deeper, something both possessive and teasing.
You stare at him, taking in the unfairly good-looking sight in front of you. Itās criminal how well the new hair suits him, highlighting his delicate yet sharp features. The platinum blonde gives him an ethereal glow, while the blue adds just the right amount of dangerous charm.
Your fictional crush? Who was that again?
Jeonghan notices the way your gaze softens, and his smirk widens. āYou said youād faint if you saw a guy with this hair in real life.ā He leans in, eyes twinkling. āShould I catch you?ā
Your breath hitches. āYouāā
Before you can finish, he cups your face and claims your lips in a deep, possessive kiss. Itās not just teasing; itās hungry, full of jealousy and triumph. His hands slide to your waist, pulling you flush against him as he kisses you like heās making a statement.
Like heās reminding you exactly who he is.
When he finally pulls away, youāre breathless, your heart hammering against your ribs.
Jeonghan brushes his thumb over your swollen lips, his smirk softening into something more affectionate. āStill think heās cooler than me?ā
You shake your head, dazed. āIāI donāt even know who youāre talking about.ā
He chuckles, pressing one last lingering kiss to your lips. āThatās what I thought.ā
Author's Note: I can't just get enough of that hairstyle and hair color of him. It suits him very well, (every hair color and style do fits him, though). Especially with that type of charisma Hannie have. He's just so preciousš„¹šā£ļø

Right so thereās this webseries @monkey-wrench-series, on YouTube, absolutely phenomenal show highly recommend it, and the most recent episode came out on Wednesday and introduced the most delightful character to me, so naturally I decided I needed to make this extremely 2D character into 3D
So this is Agent K, heās a very silly guy we donāt know much about yet, but heās very funny and very goofy and all around a good time.
I was able to make him completely posable by sewing wire between the two panels of his body, and I think he came out absolutely fantastic
Please consider checking out the series on YouTube!

THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP: A LOONEY TUNES MOVIE Movie Review

Letās be honest, when it comes to movies, the Looney Tunes brand has not had a very good run this decade. In 2021 there was Space Jam: A New Legacy, which turned out to be nothing but a shameless commercial for all things Warner Bros., and then there was the infamous tale of the shelved Coyote vs. Acme movie that may never see the light of day. So itās with all of these tragedies that itās a miracle that this movie, The Day The Earth Blew Up, even got released. (Granted through Ketchup Entertainment and not WB. themselves.) Not only that, but itās also incredible that the end result is undeniably the best Looney Tunes ever made.
THE GOOD
What separates this movie from something like the Space Jam sequel, is that it is made by people who clearly love Looney Tunes. Despite the fact that we only have three characters, this movie stays true to who they are. Daffy Duck is more reflective of how his was when he was first introduced and before he started being paired up with Bugs Bunny. Heās a complete lunatic, heās overly confident, and has a tendency to cause more trouble than what they have to deal with in the moment! Meanwhile, Porky Pig is the more sensible of the two, complete with his famous stutter. Eric Bauza does a fantastic job voicing both characters and much like Mel Blanc long before, itās incredible how many of the Looney Tunes characters heās able to voice to perfection. Petunia Pig is also a fun character. She manages to be the most sensible of the group, while also being crazy andā¦dare I say looney in her own way!
The animation is spectacular. Itās great to not only see classic 2D animation, but also 2D animation that was made for a big screen experience. The last two animated movies that I can think of that look like they were hand drawn are The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim or Teen Titans Go! To the Movies. In both instances, you watch those movies and question the reason to release them in theaters. The animation in The Day The Earth Blew Up is not only smooth and well detailed, but it also amplifies the insanity and comedy. One of my favorite gags is with Farmer Jim, the adopted father of both Daffy and Porky. While our two main characters are fully animated, Farmer Jim is mostly a static drawing played for full comic effect.
The movie is not just hilarious in how it captures the spirit of Looney Tunes, but also how it works as a parody of the alien invasion movies of the 1950s. From mind control, alien goo, 50s style flying saucers, and the title of the film itself, this movie is a perfect homage to those old school science fiction movies. However itās mixed with that very chaotic tone that you expect from Looney Tunes and features enough twists that make the movie feel fresh and funny! The big masterplan of the alien invader is ridiculous but makes sense within the nature of the film!
OVERALL
This is about as good as a Looney Tunes movie can get and the flaws it has, aren't worth mentioning! I never got the appeal of Space Jam, and this is coming from a kid of the 90s. That movie shouldāve been my childhood, but it just doesnāt work for me. As for Looney Tunes: Back in Action, I have a soft spot for that movie, but even then I canāt deny that The Day The Earth Blew Up blows that one out of the water. Itās got spectacular animation, itās fateful to the source material, the characters are fun, and itās jam-packed with jokes that made me laugh hard! Not to mention it has a lot of heart when it comes to Daffy and Porkyās friendship. Itās a reminder of what made Looney Tunes work in the first place and why they will endure until the end of time despite David Zaslavās hatred for them!

So. I watched the live action Lilo and Stitch. (Completely unrelated but Jack Sparrow is one of my favorite Disney characters, anyway-) The original is my favorite 2d Animated movie. I wanted to wait a couple days just to get my thoughts in order but I think the notes I took while watching are more accurate to how I feel about this insult to animation, storytelling and character
It got long so TL;DR, This whole movie feels gutted. Gutted of the themes, of the atmosphere, and of the heart. A downright insult to the original. How this badly acted, lit, and animated thing is getting good reviews is beyond me. It doesn't hold up neither as a remake, nor as a movie in its own right
Right off the bat the pace is 5 times quicker than the original. Nothing has time to sink in, I feel like I'm watching the movie at double speed
And they've moved things around for no reason, Stitch is shown first, then Jumba is brought in, which just dampens the impact of both their introductions
Jumba sounds 20 years younger and way more boring than he should, he sounds like a stock random guy, not an experienced and unhinged genius. His grammar is fixed but his accent is also gone which just makes him sound less unique. I don't blame the VA, he did great as the Lego Joker but he was just miscast here
The grand councilwoman is done so dirty already. In the original she sounds genuenly hopeful Stitch can show signs of goodness and be spared. Nope, here she's so monotone it's like she's obligated to ask him to say something
She doesn't ask for an expert, Pleakely comes running in himself. In a cowboy hat for some reason. She also has a bizarre amount of modern slang like "crikey" and "you're kidding" which feels extremely out of character and forced
She also gets Stitch's biology wrong? "Water increases his molecular density" the fuck it doesn't, HIS OWN molecular density is great, which makes him sink. He's dense, that's the point. Water doesn't affect him he just can't swim cause he's heavy
She doesn't seem to care about her own people because she doesn't tell no one to back away from Stitch's ship when he engages hyperdrive. Which in the original was also a built up dangerous thing he did, here it's blink and you'll miss it. We don't even see him properly escape anything. The guns just blow up the door, we see him running down a hall for 2 seconds, next time we see Stitch he's on the ship, that's it
Pleakley is excited to go to earth and Jumba is the one who SUGGESTS it, he basically blackmails the grand councilwoman, saying he'll capture 626 in exchange for his lab back. Pointless changes that only serve to make the story less impactful and more childish. And this whole thing goes by in 5 minutes, in the original I swear it was at least twice as long. (Edit: I checked, it is twice as long)
The social worker scene, completely different, no "my friends need to be punished" line. Overall just, worse version of the original, not much to say
Nani is now outright stated to be studying to be a marine biologist instead of the subtle environmental storytelling of her being a champion surfer from the original. Not a bad idea? But it should've been more subtle, so far it feels like this movie thinks you're stupid and need to be told everything, despite supposedly being "the more mature version for adults"
David is cringe now and that's his whole joke. He's not really endearing anymore
Stitch wrecking his own spaceship is just stupid
Lilo and Nani's argument and subsequent make up talk have absolutely zero impact compared to the original. The constellation thing is cute I guess
When Nani is being shoved out the room so Lilo can make a wish, she didn't even fall on Lilo, and Lilo's wish is worded much worse than the original. More long winded. Stitch coming out from the crash site is SO UGLY compared to the original
If I had a nickel for every movie that's got a blue CGI character crashing a wedding and Uptown funk in the soundtrack I'd have two nickles. Which isn't a lot but at least SONIC 2 WAS A GOOD MOVIE
Lilo meets Stitch. MISSED. THE POINT. OF THE SCENE. ENTIRELY.
First of all he's supposed to go "Haaaiii" after he heard Lilo way hi to him first. How the fuck does he know to say hi when all she did was scream? Second, he's tiny, Lilo picks him up. He's supposed to be so dense adults can barely hold him, how the hell is Lilo just, carrying him around? And if it's water that makes him heavy for real. Then that's just stupid
Also love how no one is freaking out about it, the lady working there casually leashes him and sounds so disinterested. Every person in the movie (except Lilo she's doing very well) sound like they don't wanna be there
They're giving Nani less to do and making her worse. In the original, they were at the dog shelter because she heard Lilo's wish and wanted to make it come true. Now its the neighbour taking Lilo, and not even to the shelter, not to adopt a dog, they just kinda. Do. Without Nani's permission which is another problem
Cobra being CIA and involving the authorities as a whole is. Dumb
Oh so Nani came up with the name Stitch. Wonderful. One stupid decision after another
"I read her text messages." People in present day still keep diaries there was no need to change that. Hello fellow kids ass line
Nani being mean to Lilo after losing the job and making it very clear it's Lilo's fault, instead of comforting her and going along with her bug imagination. Way to ruin the best big sister in your history, Disney
They turned the "Ohana means family" scene comedic. WHO THE FUCK THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA AND WHICH SLUG-BRAINED MORON APPROVED IT?
Nani being a jackass again. "We were left behind" that's exactly what you say to your grieving 6yo sister about the parents who tragically passed, Nani, way to go. Makes it sound like they ditched them on purpose
Telling us about the room full of trophies instead of showing us. This movie is for babies in a way the original never was
Stitch spelling out he has no family instead of the again, much more mature and subtle dialogue of the original
The teaching Stitch hula thing was alright I guess
Nani doesn't even see Stitch being a record player is lame. Followed up with a fart joke
Remix of Hawaiian Rollercoaster ride is worse than the original in both sound and placement. It was a personal moment for the family. To take their minds off the bad day of not finding jobs. Now it's just. Full of tourists, and Nani teaching/being at her job
Also Stitch being the one to ask to go in the water first. Goes against the story, he's supposed to be shown it's OK first, by being taken in by Lilo. But no, just sees a dog, decides he wants to. FUCKING STUPUD
Whole hospital insurance thing seems so showhorned in. Not having a job was reason enough for that contract
And Stitch not being directly blamed for it. Again. Zero. Impact. They've literally turned this into a stock "CG character stuffed into a plot with live humans" movie. And it's disgusting to watch
Jumba is turning into a villain. Lame. His dynamic with Pleakely is also fucked
The hammock scene is again just. A worse version of the original, I don't know what to say at this point. This whole movie is somehow so fast and so sluggish at the same time, it's impressive how bad the pacing is
Stitch doesn't even see the ugly duckling book, doesn't talk to Lilo, doesn't go to the woods with the ducks just. Goes to his crate??? For some reason??
And LILO finds HIM. NAH, missed thr entire point, AGAIN
Wedgie joke, butt joke. More completely unnecessary childish humor
The portal gun is an alright gimmick but. Meh. And no song playing over it. So immediately less memorable scene. Elvis as a whole is very absent from this movie
NAH WE AIN'T DOING A LIAR REVEALED WITH STITCH, WHAT EVEN IS THIS MOVIE
Stitch himself feels like a non character in his own movie somehow, he's just there to be a dog, a cute CG character to sell merch. So many of his important scenes are missing or so watered down it barely feels like the same character
Reference to the other experiments is neat but thats not how 627 is made, you can't just turn one experiment into another
Cobra being the one who turns and helps them. Stupid. He was supposed to be a good guy the entire time
The climax is so anticlimactic compared to the original too. Painfully obvious they were out of a budget
Lilo having to leave Stitch to drawn should hit hard. It doesn't. That thing spent the whole movie being annoying, stiffly animated, and frankly I don't care if it drowns. That's not Stitch. It's a badly made imitation
Oh and now they're recussitating him. With jumper cables. And he threw up the important family photo. This isn't Lilo and stitch. In writing, acting, or soul. And I swear they're reusing voice lines for Stitch in some scenes
The reason for Stitch staying before was such a beautiful simple solution. He was adopted, as a pet, he's Lilo's. But now. Overcomolicated, stupid, and again, the councilwoman used to geneunly want to give Stitch a chance and let him stay. Now she seems much more reluctant and it doesn't work as well. The mosquito thing didn't come up, Stitch doesn't let his antenna and extra limbs out for Lilo to see
David is being so fucking stupid- they turned one of the best Disney men into an annoying stock moron. Oh and Nani doesn't have a job and can't be in charge of Lilo. Sure putting her with the neighbours and letting Nani go study is fine, I guess? But it isn't nowhere near satisfying and misses the entire point of Nani's character
Not sure if there's anything past the credits, I didn't watch those.
#lilo and stitch#lilo and stich 2025#Lilo and stitch 2025 spoilers#Anyone who pays money to watch this slop loses my respect#I need the live action remake trend to wither and rot#The sooner the better

Bill Cipher Analysis Post ā¼ļø
(I could be wrong about some things since the book is fresh, feel free to expand this post or correct me! May be a little edited as well!)
To start things off: William Mischief Cipher, (yes thats his actual name) is a dream demon from another dimension. To be specific, the second dimension.
Despite Bill being a literal shapeā and also a demigodā itās implied that Bill had a human-like childhood. He had a normal mother and father, he went to school, and overall seemed to have a normal life. The problem, however, was that he was born with powers completely unknown to his dimension.
Bills world was 2D, meaning there was no up or down. Itās hard for us to grasp the concept of his world, and its implied Bills dimension felt the same way about us. They couldnāt grasp the idea of other, less flat dimensionsā but Bill could. Not only did he understand the concept, he could physically SEE the other dimensionsā which drove him crazy with confusion and frustration.
Itās also implied that Bill was born with physical powers others in his dimension didnāt haveā for example, thereās a line in the book where he remembers being bullied in school for having the ability to conjure fire.
Itās implied that Bill tried to tell everyone about the other dimensions, but they didnāt understand. The other people of his homeworld considered him troubled and insane. Thereās a poem written in code on the silly straw page of his book detailing how he was fed medicine to keep his āvisionsā away, but would only drink it out of a silly straw. This poem implies he was a baby at the time of taking his medicine, implying further that his powers were terrifyingly strong even from an early age. Thisā paired with the fact he could shoot fire from his fuckin handsā made him dangerous as a child, because (at least from what it seems) any childish outburst or tantrum could accidentally turn dangerous from his lack of understanding or being able to control the powers he was born with. He was a walking time bomb.
āEye doctor of a different kind who wants to make his patient blind / The doctor says three sips a day will make the visions go away / Fussy eater, baby billy, wouldnāt drink unless its silly.ā
(((The doctor was taking away Bills ability to see the other dimensions, rendering him somewhat blind. Bill fussed about his medicine as a child and would only drink it out of a silly straw.)))
Eventually, Bill tried to bring his world into the third dimensionā or at the very least, show them it exists to prove that he wasnāt insane. Itās unclear what exactly he did to try and accomplish thisā but it went wrong and started a terrible fire that left only him alive.
Itās unclear whether or not he started the fire itself on purpose or on accident, but either way its implied that he absolutely didnāt understand the permanent consequences. Itās something that deeply traumatized him. Itās blurred out of his memory, and in denial, he pretends everyone is still alive. Itās up to the reader to determine whether or not he can be forgiven for this, but out of everything Bill has done on purpose and out of malice, this doesnāt seem to be one of those things. It seems he genuinely wanted to free his family from the confinements of his dimension and to this day he still pretends thatās what he did, even if thatās not the case. The regret of his actions is something that goes on to shape his character today.
āTwisted out of shape after the killā the ghost of his family haunting him stillā (((Silly straw page)))

Bill has lied about this day on multiple occasions, and has also lied about how he feels towards it. Heās terrified to face the guiltā so he either pretends he did it on purpose and doesnāt care, pretends something or someone else did it, or pretends it didnāt happen all together.
While talking to Stanford, he calls himself a monster. This is what he truly thinks of himself. However, he pretends to be a different person than himself. His entire life past the day of his dimensions burning has been a lie of pure denial.
On top of denial, he refused and still refuses to grow up. After running off into a crumbling dimension with his āhenchmaniacā friends, he started acting like a rebellious teenager. Unlike most villains with a specific intent to hurt, he went throughout the universe with the sole intention of having as much fun as possible. However, with his terrifying power and uncaring nature many casualties happened on the side. Heās guilty for them, and even finds some of them funny, but hurting people wasnāt and isnāt his MAIN intent. (At least not most of the time. He IS known to hold grudges, or dismantle someoneās face for fun, but those things arenāt part of his overall goal. Not saying they arenāt shitty, but his main intent is important to understanding his character and complexity.)
His main goal is to distract himself from his past with as much chaos as possible while also seeking attention from anyone he can get it from. He talks about Stanford and says he needs Bill to boost his ego, but really itās the other way around. Bill considers himself a product to sell, he caters to people by using false charisma, pretending theyāre the ones that need him when in reality heās starving for their praise. He is desperate for someone to speak highly of him because his mind has nothing good to say, all the words he says out loud are compensation. He believes deep down that nobody will love him if they know who he truly is and what heās doneā and heās not really wrong. And look! He couldnāt even admit thatās how he feels about himself so he pretends heās giving advice! (He does this SO MANY fuckin times in the book..)

It appears in the book that the more he regrets or suffers from his past actions and traumasā the more he hurts and destroys the things and people around him as a distractionā all under the ruse of āpartyingā. So, in an immature attempt to absolve himself of guilt, he stacks more guilt onto his endless cycle by continuing to hurt those he loves again and againā pretending not to care but truthfully caring so much that heād do ANYTHING to drown out the feeling. Ironically, his way of drowning out his feelings is by causing more harm. He is an endless, pitiful paradox.
Itās often misunderstood that he is a uncaring, but thatās what he WANTS you to think. Thatās what he WISHES he was. His guilt and remorse doesnāt absolve him from the things heās done, but the fact that itās there is a GIANT and IMPORTANT part of his character. He CAN feel empathy, sympathy, sentimentality, and ESPECIALLY regret. He may be a considered a sociopath, but this doesnāt mean heās not a person with feelings as well.
Heās so distraught over losing Stanford that he drinks himself into a state of temporary amnesia that made him fall into a ptsd episodeā his memory is so bad he ends up thinking heās talking to his mother whoās been dead for probably millions of years.

This doesnāt excuse what he did to Ford AT ALL (I felt a little sick looking at the knuckles page..) but you canāt truly understand his character without understanding that he is LYING when he is cruel to Ford. And no, just because itās a lie/front doesnāt mean heās absolved from saying or doing something horrible, but it DOES mean he is unique and complex.
Itās perfectly reasonable to not forgive Bill for what he did to Ford, because itās not really forgivableā but I also think itās fair to explore the complexities of āevilā characters. SAYING A CHARACTER REGRETS THEIR ACTIONS DOESNāT MEAN I THINK THEY DESERVE FORGIVENESS!!! Especially in Billās case, considering that he PRETENDS to not be sorry, which makes him terrible even if he doesnāt mean what heās saying. He might as well not be sorry at all HOWEVER!! Itās still important to distinguish him from a sociopathic stereotypeā so I have to acknowledge that heās a little sorry anyway, even if that regret is hidden away and doesnāt help literally anyone.
He values his own comfortability over the people he loves. Meaning heāll always be cruel instead of apologizing because even if heās truly sorry, he canāt handle the fact that he did something wrong in the first placeā Heāll just play dumb.
At the end of the day, thoughā Bill is much more complicated than āGuy that just wants to explode people with his mind and take over the worldāā I mean yes, heās also thatā but he also has hella bad ptsd and possible other mental issues that Iām not qualified to diagnose. He has a mother who he misses and a pain he carries with him.
None of the pain he harbors will ever justify the pain heās causedā So no, I donāt think heās ACTUALLY forgivable (though I may joke). However, in my opinion, I do think heās redeemable! Heās going to live (or at least be in purgatory?) for millions of more years. He already got a punishment of literal death and has the empathy (somewhere) to continue forward and start fresh. He has thousands of years to heal from his trauma and wallow in what heās done.
The Pines family may never forgive him, but out of the child-cartoony love in their hearts they offer him not forgivenessā but live and let live. (Well, at least Mabel does.. love you sweet girl.) If he goes around them theyāll beat his ass like in weirdmaggedon, but if he stays away, they will too. At the end of the day, heās been stopped and theyāre happy. If he is alive, (((or is going to be??))) he might as well heal.
And, well.. even if you think he doesnāt deserve that somewhat happy(?) ending, a redemption arc for him has been hinted at for years. Sorry, man. Respect to you and all but like⦠friendship is magic and the evil demigod is gonna start working at your local wendys once heās outa space arkham. Itās just the way kids shows go, man.
(((Edited note: I apologize for my original wording when it came to āsociopathāā I wasnāt aware of its actual medical use and I shouldāve done my research on that! Iāve changed this post to be more accurate in that regard, so if old reblogs look different itās because theyāre the original version.)))

What's your wishlist for the next Zelda game? Personally I really hope we get Sheik again
i feel like my list of wants is a bit. idk. less corporeal than most peoples if that makes sense. mostly I want them to do something they've never done before. I want them to get experimental with it. I want something that looks nothing like breath of the wild (or any other game on the market.) I think it would be cool to get a proper mainline 3d game where the art style harkens back to 2d pixel graphics, but not necessarily in the very on-the-nose way that la/eow did. I want something that is both the bright, colorful, animated vibe that zelda is known for while also being experimental and different. I absolutely do not want them to get stuck in the cycle of attempting to clone their most recent successful game--honestly, in my ideal world we would never get another open-world zelda. I think it might actually be cool to allow the pendulum to swing back the other way and do something extremely linear. I think that well-built, dynamic dungeons should definitely be a focus moving forward because as much as i love botw/totk i think that their dungeons were their biggest weakness. modern game design gives devs the ability to build puzzles on a scale that was completely unimaginable for most of the lifetime of this series, and i honestly think that dungeons have been kind of underutilized in zelda in recent titles. botw hit on SOMETHING with the divine beasts but the actual puzzles weren't nearly complex, interesting, or story-important enough to get all the way there, and totk swung back in the wrong direction with its at times infuriating dungeon design. EOW honestly had the most compelling dungeon design of the more recent releases, and I think it once again got CLOSE to the mark by making them overtly story-relevant, but the puzzles were once again lacking in complexity and the game's unique element (echoes) wasn't quite utilized to the degree I think it should have been. I would also love to see ganondorf become a more central character again--I think that while his absence in botw was justifiable and didn't take away from the story, the weird way in which he was shoved into totk after the fact made the entire story significantly weaker. I'd like to see new ganondorf incarnations, and I'd like them to play significant roles in the story from the very beginning in the same way that oot ganondorf did in the 90s-10s. Similarly, i would also love to see the triforce come back into play! I think that balancing the more classic elements that fans know and love with a new, innovative art style and gameplay is the only way to allow the franchise to maintain its cultural relevance and keep players engaged moving forward. and yeah seeing sheik again could be cool too

All this talk about Leona's / Vil's chest makes me think of ... This. I just got the art book for my bday, went to check Leona's section and got hit with THIS... In front of my mom too šš (she didn't read it but. HELP)

6 UNDONE BUTTONS BUT MAKE SURE TO AVOID SHOWING TOO MUCH SKIN ššššššš they really put a bunch of buttons on it just for him to have them open but not show "too much", huh...
W-what the hell. Sure. W-whatever.

Average L*ona reaction to someone pointing out his loose and/or lack of buttons (taken straight out of his School Uniform vignette):
Ah, yes... That infamous note from the art book š (<- has known about it for years and chose not to make a public comment unless prompted)
OKAY, but to be fair (*grips Riddle by the head like heās a melon I am testing for ripeness*) take a look at a character that wears the Ceremonial Robes properly:

The black undershirt has a somewhat high collar. Additionally, the buttons seem to be spaced very close together. The white dress shirt for the NRC school uniform has more standard height collar and its buttons are noticeably farther apart than those of the ceremonial robes.
This means you would have to unbutton MORE buttons on the ceremonial robes in order to show the same amount of skin as in your school uniform. For example, what is 6 buttons on the ceremonial robes is only 2-3 buttons on the NRC school uniform. Like so:

My guess as to why that note in the art book exists is because they wanted to call attention to the spacing of the buttons being closer, meaning that 6 buttons being undone would still roughly have the same amount of skin showing had it been 2-3 buttons on the school uniform. They probably didn't want whatever artists were working on the Leona Ceremonial Robes initial artwork to get confused and accidentally show more skin due to the button count. (6 buttons undone on a regular shirt would show much more skin!)
While I was researching this I SWEAR TO YOU THIS WAS NOT AN EXCUSE TO STARE AT KINGSCHOLAR'S CHEST FOR LONGER THAN IS SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE, I realized that there's an inconsistency in Leona's Ceremonial Robes initial art and his live 2D model?? (This shouldn't be a shock though, considering that there's plenty of details in the card art that donāt always carry over to the live 2D models.)
If you look at Leonaās live 2D, the robes collar is clearly undone (you can see the flaps open). That's... clearly not 6 buttons undone. You can't even see any visible cleavage in the model:

But then???? If you take a look at the card art??? THERE'S VERY OBVIOUSLY WAY MORE BUTTONS UNDONE??? YOU CAN TELL BECAUSE SUDDENLY THERE'S CLEAVAGE OUT AND ABOUT AND WHAT WAS ONCE ONLY JUST THE FLAPS OF THE COLLARS IS NOW SHAMELESSLY OPEN š

And when you compare this to other instances in which Leona appears in his ceremonial robes (such as the second anniversary PV and the Twst anime trailer), HE HAS THE COLLAR COMPLETELY OPEN AND CLEAVAGE SHOWING. This leads me to believe that the initial card artwork is the INTENDED depiction, not the live 2D model.
You know what that means, fellas??? IT MEANS BIBLICALLY INACCURATE LION BOOBS FOR THE LIVE 2D MODEL...
ANYWAY. THAT IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY ON THIS MATTER, GOOD-BYE NOW š¤”
