Dawn of Redeeming Grace[6/23]
Chapter Six:December 24-25, 1984 [6/23] || FFN
Rating: NC-17/Explicit
Pairings: Meredith Grey/Derek Shepherd
Six weeks after Derek left to take the NIH job, Meredith is ready to use the holidays to prove she has this working mom thing on lock. Sure, he neglected to tell her he'd be bringing a guest, but whatever, 'Tis the season for truces. Even Ellis Grey took the day off. But with every moment of family togetherness, a return to the trenches seems more impossible. Can a few days of peace put their relationship back on track, or has she fallen for the illusion of a snow-globe, destined to either settle or shatter?
Dawn of Redeeming Grace|| FFN
Tumblr media
Full disclosure, folks, the more I explore how Meredith grew up, the more I shift toward thinking that the “say when” aunt, who Meredith mentions in a s2 voiceover and never again, is not a blood relative but Marie Cerone. That said, I've always gone with the idea that Meredith did, in fact, have an aunt--and that her remembering her puts her on Ellis's side. She exists to be yet another loss for Mer.
Here we have Meredith at six, just a kid in first grade. I wanted to show how things wouldn't have been as cut and dry as she tells it to Alex, but also that she got to distance herself from it enough that the first year, where she learned to be quiet, fades.
For anyone who hasn’t experienced the lie that is the party favor she is playing with:
Tumblr media
it’s such a lie.

Grey’s Anatomy 14x22 Review
First of all, the little things. Can we talk about the actually atrocious fashion decisions that Owen made in this episode. WHAT IS THAT HAT THAT HE PUT ON THAT POOR CHILD?
Tumblr media
Secondly, I think it was really stupid of Amelia to leave a (reluctantly) recovering junkie in a room with a window alone. Did she not even consider that Betty might run away? I understand trust is important in this kind of relationship but still, you have to keep in mind that this kid has a history of not necessarily doing what’s best for herself.
Third, I liked the little hints of Japril throughout this episode. In the beginning when Jackson was talking about how Roy ‘took advantage of Dr. Kepner when she was at a particularly difficult time in her life’ showed that he really does still care about her. Then the scene when she was talking to him about Harriet was just plain cute.
Fourth, I liked that Meredith took charge in this episode. The way that she knew she did the right thing and yet still she knew she didn’t have to talk to Cerone was great. She seemed really powerful throughout the entire episode and I think it was great that she decided that she didn’t have to be exactly like her mother.
Finally, though it was a little confusing, the Jolex in this episode was great. I love How silently supportive and understanding Jo was and the fact that Alex got some closure. The one thing I did want to know was, where the heck is Amber? In Season 3 when Aaron showed up with his hernia, he said that Amber was 10 at the time. If we say that it’s been 11 ish years since then, she would be 21. So if she’s already grown up and moved away, why did no one talk about her? Did Alex not wonder if his sister was okay? Did his mother not think to tell him? I really hope this hole is filled.
OKAY NOW FOR THE ELEPHANTS IN THE ROOM.
I WAS RIGHT. I know it was seriously obvious how Arizona was going to go but I still felt a little gratification when she confirmed it. My Calzona Heart. I feel bad for Carina in this situation because she doesn’t really get a say in the decision and you can tell that it broke her heart.
Moving to New York for Sofia is just the next step for Arizona in my opinion. She’s showed countless times that she will do anything for her daughter and if that means moving across the country I believe she would do it in a heartbeat. I really hope they bring Callie back for a guest appearance because I’ve been wondering how her life has been going. One thing that confuses me is that Penny said she was moving to New York for a one year thing and that made me think they were coming back but apparently that’s not the case. I assume they just got settled in and didn’t feel like moving all over again. Or maybe something kept them there and we will find out about that soon.
I think the fact that she finally accepted that Callie cutting off her leg was the right decision shows how much Arizona has grown. She’s gotten over her anger and frustration and realized that her life was worth more than her leg. It makes me really hopeful that she will make things right with Callie in New York and they will end up together.
NOW CAN WE TAKE A MOMENT AND TALK ABOUT THE PROMO FOR NEXT WEEKS EPISODE?!
It was less than two minutes long and it had my heart POUNDING. Like, I knew that April was probably going to die. I predicted it, even. But somehow seeing it on screen just brought it to a whole new level. The tiny snippets of people’s reactions and the pure terror of it all was overwhelming. I was honestly shocked.
I saw the end of an interview with Ellen Pompeo before the episode and she said something along the lines of ‘you only get killed off if you do something bad’ so my question is... Sarah, what did you do??!
I’m terrified of next Thursday but at the same time... it couldn’t come soon enough.

Thoughts on Grey’s Anatomy Episode: 14X22
Alright here we go! I liked this episode overall. There were some definite flaws, but I enjoyed it overall. I really liked Meredith’s monologue in this one. Why is it we check patients for mental illness before surgery but not surgeons? I really enjoyed the storyline of Alex and his Mom. I felt horrible for him throughout everything, but I was really happy that he got closure. One thing I think Grey’s Anatomy is good at is it’s accurate portrayals of mental illness and mental health conditions and their impact on the person and those around them that love them.
They don’t always get it right, no one is perfect, but on the whole I find them to show portrayals that are akin to my own personal experience and those of others I know in comparison to the typical procedural drama that shows us all as deranged crazy people with no humanity. I felt that they showed the plight of Alex’s Mom really well. Schizophrenia is a terrible illness that hurts so many with no known cure. Schizophrenics are often portrayed without humanity and it’s nice and refreshing to see a more honest portrayal. The end scenes with Alex’s Mom, Alex, and Jo really warmed my heart. Being there the way they can.
I loved watching Jo be there and support Alex like only she can! He deserves that in his life. They both do. One thing I was disappointed about was that we didn’t get an update on where Amber is. Both Amber and Aaron, Alex’s siblings, were referenced, but no update was given. We know Aaron was committed, but we don’t know where Amber is. Alex didn’t indicate concern so she’s not in trouble, but I’d like to know more.
I loved the Cristina reference!!!! Twister Sisters FOREVER!!! In the Fashion Department, Meredith wore that gorgeous blue colour she always looks so fabulous in! When the Random Bar Guy asked if Meredith was there for her own presentation I laughed out loud! The Darts Guy had issues. He came up with the idea of the abdominal wall transplant and then instead of doing one assembled a team and spent a year on it. Meredith thought of the idea and had it together to do the surgery in a matter of hours. Some of us are doers and some of us are dreamers. There are Rockstars and then there’s everybody else.
I loved Meredith’s dialogue during the bar scenes. It really showed the dilemma well. And I loved seeing Mer do the right thing and rename the method and then give her presentation on the mini-livers. Then when Marie was moved to tears and wanted to talk like old times and pretend everything was fine and Mer was having none of it! If Meredith was Ellis and she was screwing her over for what she did Marie’s actions would be justified. But Meredith is not Ellis. Ellis is dead. Stabbing Mer in the back for what her dead mother who never wanted her and died painfully of complications due to Alzheimer’s did is not okay or logical under any circumstance.
I loved Bailey trying to get dirt on Vik Roy and coming up empty with compromised stories. It was hilarious! [Your Honour] When Vik and Sanjay expected Bailey to just fold. Ha! Freaking morons. They had no idea who they were talking to. Pffff.
It was cute seeing baby Leo, Harriet, and Sofia! Sofia looked miserable though. The whole suspension storyline honestly bugged me. It’s so unrealistic. I wonder if anyone bothered to ask Zola why Sofia’s acting out. They’re in the same grade at the same school aren’t they? They’ve stopped mentioning or showing her friendship with Zola and have reduced Sofia to a plot point in Arizona’s story. I find this particularly frustrating given that Zola has been given more material this season. They’ve expanded her character and hung Sofia’s out to dry when they should have brought both of them up. It became pretty clear to me by the middle of the episode that Arizona would move to New York for Sofia.
This episode made me continue to not care about DeLuca. He’s an idiot, a mediocre surgeon, an average or worse doctor, and not a great person. Why do we care? I couldn’t stand him in this episode. The female patient needed a very major surgery and had a childlike fear of surgery. I couldn’t understand why they brought DeLuca in. He obviously sucks at this. It was completely unprofessional. If a Doctor acted that way to my loved one in real life I’d order them out of the room. He was completely unsympathetic to her fear. Why? Because his heart got broken? Give me a break. Pathetic.
I did really like the scene where Arizona used her past to help her patient. Jackson was good in this episode too. Voluntarily paying all the settlements and reparations himself while setting aside money for Harriet. The scene with him and April was great. Sarah Drew’s acting in this scene was wonderful. I like light and fluffy April. Jackson’s line, “Your buddy Jesus interested in buying a yacht?” made me crack up! And next week’s promo looks like April is the one who is injured as many were predicting. We’ll see how that goes!

Why couldn’t Meredith just offer to work with Marie? Then the “many livers” would be known as the Grey-Cerone Method. Not the best fix, or the fairest fix, but at least everyone gets what they want.

Trivia
🦄 She attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry between years 1984-1991.
🦄 An academically strong student, she quickly achieved such good results in her schoolwork that she received praise from most of her teachers, with Professor Albus Dumbledore, arguably the greatest wizard of all time, openly acknowledging her magical prowess to be exemplary. She demonstrated tremendous ability and proved a cleverer student than most of her classmates, quickly mastering and becoming the best in most of the fields of magic taught at Hogwarts. Her formidable magical power allowed her to achieve O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s in all her choosed subjects.
🦄 She's skilled in casting nonverbal spells.
🦄 Fashion addict – always seen rocking elegant and glamorous haute couture outfits commisioned from her favorite style-wizard, bff, and former classmate, André Egwu.
🦄 She had adopted a big menagerie of animals and magical creatures: a grey Angora cat named Leila; a Niffler named Galleondigger, a Porlock named Thaddeus, a Fairy named Vanity, an Abraxan, a Chimera, a blue arrow frog (a gift from her former classmate and bff, Tulip Karasu), a Crup, a Mountain Troll and s.o.
🦄 Her favorite colours are black, sapphire blue, burgundy, purple and emerald green.
🦄 Introvert, though she makes friends easily due to her charming nature.
🦄 Book worm.
🦄 Loyal to a fault and ambitious until the very end. In true Slytherin style, If she really wants something, she's going to get it or die trying, there's no in between.
🦄 She lived in close proximity to Muggle dwellings, but she showed little knowledge of muggle life as an adolescent and have had limited interaction with her neighbour's back in her childhood years.
🦄 Though her parents came from wealthy families of pure-bloods, her mother raised her and her sibling in a laid back environment, teaching them to be down to earth and non-judgmental towards muggle-borns or half-bloods.
🦄 Her maternal grandparents were famous Death Eaters and they were imprisoned to Azkaban long before her elder brother Jacob's first year at Hogwarts, a couple of months after Philidia's birth. It's an unspoken rule in her family to never mention them in front of other people, afraid that their known allegiance might cause bad repercussions for the Gwyddiens.
🦄 Even though Philidia descend from two long lines of pure-blood wizards and witches (her maternal and paternal grandmothers descend from the British clans Fawley and Yaxley respectively), her family is not mentioned in the "Sacred Twenty-Eight" – the Directory of the twenty-eight British families that were considered still truly pure-blood by the 1930s. Her clan is much more well-known in their countries of origin, Ireland and Romania.
🦄 Sportive and athletic. She has a natural raw talent for Quidditch, showing fast reflexes, speed, agility and precision, according to the Quidditch royalty, bff and former house mate, Skye Parkin, who helped her train for the Slytherin's vacant position as a Chaser back in their second year of school at Hogwarts.
🦄 She's a fast learner.
🦄 Has a very strong sense of humor and likes to make people around her laugh with her funny, witty and sarcastic remarks.
🦄 She likes to keep tiny souvenirs from people who are important to her or from those who had had an important impact on her life, doesn't matter is a trinket of some sorts, like her children baby toys or her late best friend Rowan's old eyeglasses; beautiful artifacts, like the exquisite wizard's chessboard from Professor McGonagall; an hourglass pendant necklace received as a gift from Professor Horace Slughorn when he made her member of his exclusivist Slug Club or the "I like you. Do you like me? Yes or no. Circle your answer" message on a crumpled piece of paper she had written for Barnaby on their 4th year of school, before they started dating.
🦄 Proud bisexual.
🦄 Calm, resourceful and calculated.
🦄 Rebel and unwilling to fallow the rules if they don't match with her beliefs.
🦄 People used to believe she's one of the Weasley's children because of her ginger hair, a thing that Bill, Charlie, the twins and herself found to be absolutely hilarious.
🦄 She had had several secret crushes in her youth. On the former captain of her Quidditch house team, Orion Amari, on her former house prefect, Felix Rosier, on Alanza Alves (an exchange student from Castelobruxo) and on Bill & Charlie Weasley.
🦄 After graduation, she had played for a season as a professional Seeker for the all-witch Quidditch team Holyhead Harpies, then she joined Skye Parkin and Orion Amari as a Chaser for Wigtown Wanderers for almost three seasons, before she retired due to her first pregnancy, but she came back to her position a year after the ending of the Second Wizarding War.
🦄 She had refused to wed the father of her first daughter, Maia, because he had chosen to walk on his father's footsteps and joined the Death Eaters when Voldemort returned. Later, Felix choose to change his convictions for the sake of Philidia's love, but he was unexpectedly killed by his cousin, Evan Rosier, for betraying their clan and the Dark Lord.
🦄 After his death, she took her baby daughter and fled to Romania to live with her mother in her old family mansion.
🦄 She eventually married her high school sweetheart, Barnaby, having three more children together, two sons and one daughter.
🦄 She became one of the most famous Curse-Beakers of the Wizarding World and started a career in politics, being the youngest witch expected to become the next British Minister of Magic before the age of 30.

Gagosian at Frieze New York
April 13, 2021
Tumblr media
FRIEZE NEW YORK Rachel Feinstein and Ewa Juszkiewicz
May 5–9, 2021 The Shed, 545 West 30th Street, New York Booth B7 __________ Gagosian is pleased to announce its participation in Frieze New York at the Shed, the first in-person art fair of 2021 in the United States, with sculptures by Rachel Feinstein and paintings by Ewa Juszkiewicz. Inspired by Baroque and Rococo sculpture, religious iconography, Romantic landscapes, and popular culture, Feinstein explores taste and desire, synthesizing elegance and kitsch. Having once visited the Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory in Munich, she later located an online image of Rococo sculptor Franz Anton Bustelli’s commedia dell’arte figurines, posed on unique shell-like pedestals. In response, she worked with the legendary factory to produce scaled-up majolica porcelain versions of the pedestals. In Feinstein’s works, viewers can imagine taking the place of the commedia dell’arte characters and trying on their removable porcelain shoes for size. The sensual abstract forms of Chinoiserie, Corine, and Mezzetino (all 2018), titled after Bustelli figurines, suggest the human form through its conscious omission. Built to the scale of Feinstein’s own body, they allude to the greatness of the Rococo era and the demise of European high craftsmanship. Corine was included—along with Octavio, another sculpture from the same series—in Feinstein’s exhibition Secrets at Gagosian Beverly Hills in 2018; all four works were installed in Regent’s Park for Frieze London later the same year. Corine was also featured in Feinstein’s recent major survey exhibition, Maiden, Mother, Crone, at the Jewish Museum, New York. Juszkiewicz’s meticulously precise oil portraits also draw on traditions of classical European painting—her sources date from the Renaissance through the nineteenth century—but with added touches of the surreal, the fantastical, and the grotesque. By obscuring her subjects’ faces—a strategy that recalls René Magritte’s painting Le fils de l’homme (The Son of Man) (1964)—she deconstructs conventional ideals of feminine beauty to evoke the suppression of female identity that permeates the Western canon. In five new paintings, Juszkiewicz “paraphrases” portraits by Johann Ender, Rembrandt Peale, Joseph Karl Stieler, and Elisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun, rendering richly colored leaves and flowers—mixed with hair, wigs, and heavy fabrics—in startling detail. The resultant hybrid figures teeter between reserve and uninhibitedness, nature and culture, human and nonhuman. They relocate—as do Feinstein’s sculptures—the ghosts of women past firmly in the present. Rachel Feinstein was born in 1971 in Fort Defiance, Arizona, and lives and works in New York. Collections include the Lever House Art Collection, New York; RISD Museum, Providence, RI; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and Hall Art Foundation, Reading, VT. Solo exhibitions include Tropical Rodeo, Le Consortium, Dijon, France (2006); The Snow Queen, Lever House, New York (2011); Folly, Madison Square Park, New York (2014); and a survey exhibition, Maiden, Mother, Crone, Jewish Museum, New York (2019–20). Group exhibitions include The Americans: New Art, Barbican Art Gallery, London (2001); Candyland Zoo, Herbert Read Gallery, Kent Institute of Art and Design, Canterbury, England (2004); Something About Mary, The Metropolitan Opera, New York (2009); The Little Black Dress, SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah, GA (2013); L’Almanach 14, Le Consortium, Dijon, France (2014); and No Longer / Not Yet, Minsheng Art Museum, Shanghai (2015). Ewa Juszkiewicz was born in 1984 in Gdańsk, Poland, and lives and works in Warsaw. Collections include Muzeum Sztuki Nowoczesnej w Warszawie, Warsaw; Muzeum Narodowe w Gdańsku, Gdańsk, Poland; Zachęta Sztuki Współczesnej w Szczecinie, Szczecin, Poland; Towarzystwo Zachęty Sztuk Pięknych w Olsztynie, Olsztyn, Poland; and Galeria Bielska BWA, Bielsko-Biała, Poland. Solo and two-person exhibitions include How It Is, Asks Agnisia, That We See a Teddy Bear in the Painting, Otwarta Pracownia, Krakow, Poland (2011); Rosamunde, the Princess of Cyprus, Centrum Kultury Katowice, Poland (2012); Things We Don’t Talk About, Bałtycka Galeria Sztuki Współczesnej, Słupsk, Poland (2013); Descent Beckons, Galeria Bielska BWA, Bielsko-Biała, Poland (2015); and Giacinto Cerone | Ewa Juszkiewicz, Cabinet, Milan, Italy (2019).

Thoughts on Grey’s Anatomy: 15X22
I thought I would hate this episode, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Which should really be the new tag line for this season. Meredith and DeLuca are getting it on. It’s boring to watch. Also why is Meredith wearing a crop top to bed? Who does that? What was the wardrobe dept. thinking? Have they never slept before? She kicks him out so as not to disturb the kids. While I don’t like them together and I wish she would date someone else she does appear to be having fun and feeling joy again which is great.
Annnd he runs into Zola! This idiot can’t even sneak out of a house properly. The shade! Her face! She’s not having it! Zola’s face speaks for the majority of the fandom here. Can someone tell the writers? He comes back to Meredith’s room and tells her what happened. Apparently, Zola said nothing and went back to bed. Meredith tells him, “My kids know you as the sad guy from the couch.” Which is partly we hate him. He’s a loser! DeLuca says that was an embarrassing chapter in his life and apologizes again for it.
Meredith says she had a plan for telling her kids she was dating him. They were going to have ice cream and talk about their feelings and now that’s blown. I love what a great mom she is. DeLuca’s smiling like an idiot because she was planning on telling her kids about them. Mer rolls her eyes as do we all. Way to miss the point dude. Mer checks to make sure the coast is clear this time and then has him leave.
We cut to Owen. He’s holding a crying Leo and talking to Megan on the phone. She booked him a therapy appointment and is making sure he goes. Now we’re at the hospital. Oooh! I love Mer’s outfit! The blue jacket is fire! They’ve upgraded her wardrobe this season and I like it. Bailey’s on the phone. Her ex Tucker heard her son Tuck call Ben Dad and now he’s throwing a fit and making it her problem.
Tuck feels bad and Ben’s oblivious. Which is all pretty rich for someone who gave her an ultimatum after over a decade of marriage and cheated on her. What a bitch baby. Bailey is SO much better off without that jackass! Bailey says she’d rather talk about Mer’s problems, so they do that instead. She tells her about Zola seeing DeLuca but before Bailey can respond Alex walks up to them. Jo’s back.
Amelia, Link, and Tom work on the patient that became a quadriplegic and try to use an experimental treatment to give her back the use of her arms. Nico and Schmitt are talking. Nico’s fellowship is almost up and he’s applying to hospitals across the country which upsets Schmitt. It’s reminiscent of when Jo was applying to hospitals across the country.
Qadri treats a patient who thinks she has a bowel obstruction. I think it’s weird that they show her in the beginning misdiagnosing the patient and then she disappears after that. Per protocol she should have followed the patient’s treatment all the way through. Instead she disappears. DeLuca takes over part of it and then Richard takes over another part. Then a woman walks in with high heel shoes impales in her chest! Now we know what the title was referring too! She needs heart surgery to repair the damage. Richard recognizes her. Her name is Gemma and she’s an alcoholic too. He knows her from AA. Ollie was her sponsor too. It’s not a happy reunion.
Nico and Schmitt work on a young patient who needs cement injected into his spine to correct an issue that’s causing him pain. Bailey recognizes the boy’s grandfather. He’s a reoccurring bowel patient of Bailey’s. They’re very close. Meanwhile Alex is still treating Gus the autistic patient who needs rare blood to get better. He’s built a LEGO arc de triomphe! Alex goes and talks to Mer. Time is running out for Gus. Mer’s called Cristina and Marie Cerone trying to find some of the rare blood they need. No dice. I love the Cristina reference here! Mer asks how Jo’s doing. Alex says it’s happening again. They’re happy for a while then they break then they leave him. Mer says it’s not happening again. Poor Alex!
Mer gives Alex advice and says this isn’t like the other times. That they’re not broken, and they’ll be fine. Jo will talk when she’s ready. I love their friendship! Jo’s depressed and sitting in the lab not working. Jackson comes to see her and recruits her for his research. Owen goes to see the therapist Megan found for him. He’s sceptical and dismissive and a terrible patient, but he agrees to try. Qadri’s patient is in the CT machine and is in a lot of pain. DeLuca’s running the scan. He pages Mer for a consult.
He asks how Zola was this morning. Mer says she was surprisingly normal. DeLuca wonders out loud why they feel so guilty when they’re not doing anything wrong. That’s not exactly true. Meredith is an Attending. DeLuca is a resident. She’s already been down this road. It doesn’t usually end well and they really shouldn’t be dating. She asks him if he even likes kids because they haven’t really talked about it and she’s got 3 of them. DeLuca says he has 16 first cousins and tells stories about them. He says he likes kids and tells her jokingly that her kids might like him more than her. Mer thinks that’s a load of crap.
While that’s nice and everything it doesn’t change the fact that DeLuca’s a danger to children. He lost a kid who escaped, fell down a manhole, and almost died. He attempted to assault a child and should have been fired for it. I hate how they keep ret conning his character EVERY SINGLE EPISODE this season! There is no consistency and he’s really on my nerves.
The scans are up. Their patient’s pregnant and in labour. Meanwhile Richard tries to talk to Gemma whose having none of it. Back at the CT machine. OB is busy so Mer’s running this one. Bailey looks at the scans and realizes the patient has two wombs! But she’s only pregnant in one which explains the weird symptoms. Jackson tries to reach out to Jo. He doesn’t get very far. Eventually he figures out she’s drunk at work and has vodka in her water bottle. He tells if she ever does that again she won’t be met with compassion.
Amelia and Tom talk at the lab. He laughs at her for missing Link and calls him ‘ortho barbie’. Awwww he talks about how much he loves Teddy and gives her advice about Link. Bailey comes to see her friend and his grandson to see how the procedure went. Everything seems good until he tries to go to the bathroom. He’s halfway across the room when he collapses. Richard and Maggie have a heart to heart in the scrub room about Gemma. We learn that Richard paid the bar he smashed up a lot of money to settle the charge so he wouldn’t go to jail or lose his medical licence.
Bailey and Meredith have a heart to heart about their dilemmas. Bailey is way over Tucker’s nonsense. Aren’t we all? Mer asked how she told Tuck that she was dating Ben. She said on some level he already knew. That all you have to do is show up, make it clear what’s happening, and answer their questions because all they want to know is that you’re there for them and you’re not going anywhere no matter what. Sage advice. Owen’s at therapy. He’s trying the touch therapy with his therapist. We find out that Owen doesn’t trust joy because of what happened when his Dad died when he was a kid.
It’s a painful but necessary process to let go of the fear. I’m glad they’re finally addressing this part of Owen’s story. They’ve touched on it but never explored it. After a lifetime of abusing women this man needs help. Full stop. Amelia tells Tom about what really happened in Germany between Owen and Teddy. Amelia tries to help and tells Tom that Owen and Teddy are inevitable. I get where she’s coming from, but I disagree. I get that she’s trying to help, but nothing is inevitable. Owen has a lot of work to do to be whole and he’s a long way off. Teddy deserves someone who loves her, puts her first, and treats her well. Tom does that. Owen never has. Tom isn’t scared of inevitable! I love him!
Meanwhile Maggie is trying to save Nico’s patient. He screwed up somehow and now the patient’s pulmonary artery is destroyed. Richard comes and talks to Gemma. He makes her laugh and they talk it out. He tells her about the bar incident. Bailey’s on the phone with Tuck trying to smooth things over. She tells him she knows he didn’t mean to upset anyone, but it hurt his father’s feelings, so he’ll have to go back to calling Ben by his first name instead of Dad.
I’m not sure I agree. Neither Tuck nor Ben has done anything wrong. Ben is involved in Tuck’s life in a way Tucker isn’t and Tucker’s failings are the main reason him and Bailey are divorced. Who cares what he wants? That’s what you get. Bailey has to end the call because she sees her friend in the waiting room and is confused. He tells her something went really wrong with his grandson and she goes to find out what’s going on.
She enters the OR to find out he’s died. His heart gave out as a result of the complications from the ortho procedure. Bailey wants answers from Nico. He tells her the cement leaked causing a blood clot and he went into cardiac arrest. Bailey calls him on his crap. He screwed up and made a mistake and now a healthy 21-year-old man is dead. He was about to go to business school. Now he’ll never get the chance. Maggie leaves and Bailey tells Schmitt to close. She tells Nico he’s going to stand next to her while she tells the patient’s grandfather and that if he’s a good surgeon he’ll remember it and never make this mistake again.
‏Back at the lab Jackson tells Jo it was Meredith that asked him to look in on her. There’s a nice cover of Say Something here! Bailey gives her friend the terrible news. It’s gut wrenching to watch. I can’t imagine this man’s pain. Link invites Amelia to dinner. She accepts but stays back a minute to talk to Tom. Amelia speaks some real truth here. However, I still don’t agree with her advice to Tom. I hope he continues to fight for Teddy.
Schmitt comes to talk to Nico whose prepping for his Skype interview. He encourages him to postpone his interview because of what just happened. I agree with him. He suggests he re-schedule and they knock off for the night. In response Nico yells at him and says he doesn’t get it because he’s let failure rule his entire life and that it’s basically his identity. All of which is really unfair and uncalled for. Yes, that was true at one time, but it hasn’t been in a while. Schmitt’s made real progress. Also, he’s right here. Nico is in no condition to be interviewing.
He just killed a man through his own incompetence. Also, you don’t yell something like that at the person you’re dating especially when they’re right. Nico’s outburst proves that. Poor Schmitt. He deserves better. Nico goes ahead with the interview. Schmitt slams the door and walks out. Maggie and Jackson talk. He asks her to move in with him. Owen’s at home napping while Leo plays. His phone dings. It’s Teddy asking if he’s okay. He says yes and asks why. She says Megan texted her and said to check on dum dum because he had a hard day. I love Megan!
Owen texts back and says it was hard but good. He picks up Leo and plays with him. Alex arrives home. Jo’s still not talking to him. He calls her out for drinking at work. He says he’s done and he needs her to talk to him and that he loves her but he can’t do this. She says if he loves her he’ll leave her alone. He says he’s done playing that game. Alex starts yelling and says he should just go to Pittsburgh and find out what the hell happened to Jo. Jo says she’ll talk to him when she’s ready. She says if he ever threatens to go to Pittsburgh again she’ll leave him. He says if she ever comes to work drunk again he’ll tell Bailey. Jo says they have a deal.
Mer’s at home in her Dartmouth lounge wear. She brings the kids ice cream. She tells them that her and DeLuca have been spending more time together. Zola asks if he’s her boyfriend. She always knows what’s up! Mer says he is. Bailey asks what that means. Mer says it means she likes him a lot. But not more than them. Zola asks if she’s going to kiss him. Mer says probably. Bailey thinks this is super gross! Zola asks if he’s going to sleep on the couch again. Haha I love her! Mer says no, but that he might be coming around a lot more. But says that she’s not going anywhere and that they’re stuck with her.  Zola asks if he can leave his guitar at home! They all laugh because they all equally hate his guitar playing. Some things never change.
So that’s that! Now onto next next week’s promo! It’s a cross over with Station 19. Schmitt comes in with the paramedics with a John Doe. Bailey recognizes him which presumably means he’s a Station 19 crew member. Meanwhile Mer and Alex are operating. Mer’s wearing her pink scrub cap with the swirls on it. Richard calls her into his office. Apparently, she does something that could cost Mer her medical licence! Someone almost falls off something really high. Jo talks to Ben about screwing up and then we see her running somewhere crying after she crashes into Richard.  It looks intense! But the second half of this season has been super lack lustre so I’m trying not to get my hopes up too high.
Until next time.
Au revoir!

We are headed into season 15 of Grey’s Anatomy. It’s officially my longest relationship, and I oddly feel quite proud admitting that fact. From declarations of love to tragic deaths, Shonda Rhimes has proven that she knows how to combine a hard-hitting medical drama with a little bit of comedy and a whole lot of romance.
Speaking of romance, who do I need to beg to bring back Scott Speedman as a series regular? Surely Dr. Marsh needs Dr. Grey to check on his kidney, right? And perhaps hang around Grey Sloane Memorial for a few years to do his own surgeries? I’d sign that petition. All day. Moving on.
Thanks to a few weddings and a shocking pregnancy announcement during last season’s finale, this season looks to be as juicy as ever. Here’s everything you need to know before the two-hour premiere on Sept. 27:
Amelia and Owen Remember Amelia’s huge brain tumor? The one she had for ten years that may have caused all of her erratic behavior? It was thankfully cut out, but now Amelia wonders if Owen fell in love with Brain Tumor Amelia. Owen thinks the idea is ridiculous, but that doesn’t stop Amelia from distancing herself from him. Their marriage crumbles as a result.
What’s a guy to do? Why foster a child, of course. When Owen quickly figures out that kids are a full-time job, Amelia is happy to lend a helping hand. She’s also happy to stick around when she learns that the baby’s mom is a teenaged alcoholic. Amelia invites her into the house, and a charming little dysfunctional family is born. Owen is living his dream. Sort of.
Meredith and Nathan Ugh. If Abigail Spencer wasn’t so cute, I’d hate her character Megan for screwing up Meredith’s relationship with Nathan. Megan is Owen’s sister and Nathan’s fiancé who served in the military with them but has been presumed dead for ten years. Guess what? She’s not dead! And she’s headed to Grey Sloane with a medical emergency. Look alive, everyone.
Are we glad that Megan survived her time in Iraq? Sure. Is it annoying that Meredith had to save her from her weird abdominal injury? Of course. It’s just a wee bit irritating that Meredith is finally open to loving someone again and she has to take the high road when Nathan looks at her with sad yet hopeful eyes, begging her to understand that his “big love” is miraculously back in his life. “If it were Derek, I would already be gone.” Classic Meredith.
Owen and Teddy Owen takes off to Germany to see Teddy in person, ready to give it a go. All is well until Teddy learns that Owen just slept with Amelia five seconds ago. No sir! He high tails it back to Seattle and resumes his awkward arrangement with Amelia, because it will never happen with Teddy. Owen hops back on that bandwagon, owning the chaos.
Naturally, Teddy shows up out of the blue and is handed the interim chief position on a silver platter. She accepts. Oh, she’s also preggers. Presumably with Owen’s love child. Put another log on the dysfunctional fire, please.
Miranda and Ben Miranda is tired of being chief, so she hands those reins over to Teddy after a quick interview. The heart attack she experienced has her thinking twice about life, her son, and her hunky husband.
Oh yes. Ben (played by Jason George) is hunky. He’s also starring on Shondaland’s Station 19, which debuted in the spring. Both bounce back from fire station to hospital, but their love is grounded. I’m glad Bailey will no longer be stuck behind a desk pushing papers.
Harper Avery For starters, Harper Avery dies and Jackson gets a bajillion dollars as a result. He anonymously slips the hospital some money to host an innovation contest. Everyone is on board, but it’s Meredith and Jo who win. It has something to do with a polymer and growing liver, and both are stoked.
There’s just one glitch: Meredith must acquire a patent that belongs to Ellis Grey’s former best friend, Marie Cerone. She hard passes which sends Meredith into a deep dive to figure out what is up with Marie.
It turns out, Harper Avery had several acts of sexual misconduct filed against him back in the day, and Jackson’s mom covered it up by paying major settlements to the women. One of those women is Marie Cerone. Bailey shuts down the research project, and Jackson changes the name of the Harper Avery Foundation to the Catherine Fox Foundation to protect his mother’s name. He also promises to retain, repay, and rehire all the women who were affected by Harper Avery’s mistreatment.
Jackson and Maggie Sarah Drew, who plays April, had a whirlwind of activity in her final episodes of Grey’s Anatomy. She walks away from God, parties way too much, sleeps around, reunites with her ex-fiance Matthew (whose wife was lost in surgery), and ends up in a car crash that sends her plummeting into an ice cold river.
When Matthew is brought into the hospital, Owen figures out that April was with him, so he leaves the ER and somehow finds her at the scene of the accident. Yay! Except she’s sort of dead. Boo. It’s a good thing she’s at Grey Sloane where lots of people on staff have been dead before, including Meredith, who barks, “Warm dead is dead dead.” Maggie finds a pulse and April is alive again. Yay!
Arizona and Sofia Poor Arizona can’t catch a break. She knows her daughter Sofia is not happy in Seattle and struggles to figure out a plan. Luckily, her mentor Nicole Herman, in the form of Geena Davis, offers Arizona a partnership in creating the Robbins-Herman Center for Women’s Health. In New York. Where Callie lives. Done and done.
I’ll miss you most of all, Jessica Capshaw.
Jo and Alex Jo and Alex always had a rough go, thanks to Jo’s miserable ex-husband Paul. He’s the worst in all the ways. When he arrives at Grey Sloane, Meredith and Alex save the day by advocating for Jo, and Paul leaves undeterred with his new wife. Moments later, Paul is brought into the ER with major injuries. It was a hit and run. Did Alex hit him? Did the wife? Does it matter?
The doctors save Paul, which does nothing for his horrible character. He tries to attack Jo while in recovery, slips, hits his head, and is immediately brain dead. And since Jo wasn’t divorced from him yet, she gets to decide if she wants to pull the plug. Which she does. Right after she donates all of Paul’s organs.
Now Jo and Alex are free to marry! They are also free to enjoy a quickie before the ceremony. In true Grey’s form, they get locked in a shed with a dead guy. Fun times.
The day is a disaster. April accidentally sends everyone to the wrong church. The on-site wedding coordinator goes into anaphylactic shock. A drunk DeLuca kisses Meredith. And when the reverend shows up to marry the happy couple, no one can find the bride and groom.
This doesn’t stop some people from their happily ever after. April and Matthew step up and tie the knot. They are headed off to do mission work for the homeless. Good-bye, April!
And finally, once Alex and Jo are rescued from the shed and its ghost, Meredith gets ordained and marries her two friends on the back of a ferry.
Who’s ready for season 15? How do we feel about the new doctors in town? Will Meredith ever get another love story? Do you think Jackson and Maggie will make it? Or will something dramatic happen in the first episode?
Great. I just jinked them.

Grey's Anatomy Season 14 Quotes
'Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?' That's what Jesus said on the cross before he died. 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?' Job asked the question too. But he kept the faith. And what did he get for it? Replacement children. PTSD. Was it worth it to have been a faithful servant? Or would it have been better to just curse God's name from the beginning? Where was God throughout all of Job's suffering and pain? He was winning a bet with Satan. Makes you wonder where he is through all of the unfairness, inequity, and cruelness in the world. Where is he now?
