i like the idea that despite their obvious color palettes atsushi is more into dark stuff while akutagawa prefers lighter ones. atsushi drinks black coffee while akutagawa likes lattes. atsushi listens to metal while akutagawa likes classic music. atsushi is maybe a thriller fan while akutagawa has comfort shows. it's just something i think about

Spirit of the Season (Bungo Stray Dogs)
Primary Universe
Summary: Atsushi stumbles upon Akutagawa while he's out Christmas shopping for his sister and decides to help him get back into the right mindset for the job.
A/N: I wanted a Shin Soukoku Christmas fic really bad, so I wrote one. Tada! This is fic #3 of 4. Enjoy! <3
Word Count: 1,377
~~~
“Can I not walk the streets of Yokohama without running into you of all annoying people?”
The way Akutagawa slowly turned his head to give a wide-eyed glare to Atsushi made sneaking up on him and delivering that line totally worth it. The weretiger bit his lip to keep from laughing out loud at the expression.
“Sorry, I couldn’t resist,” he managed after a moment, pulling himself together. “What are you doing all the way out here?”
Akutagawa blinked at him, then turned his gaze back to the dark, glittering ocean and clear, starry sky above. “Christmas shopping.”
“Really?” Atsushi glanced around, making a show of not seeing anything at all except the scenic overlook they stood on. “I didn’t know there were shops this far away from the street.”
“Quit being a smart aleck,” the darker man snapped. “I’m reconsidering my approach.”
“To Christmas shopping?” Atsushi couldn’t keep the humor from his voice, then frowned as he realized his rival was being serious. He cleared his throat and tried again. “Who…um. Who are you buying for?”
“My sister.” The ‘who else?’ was implied.
“Oh, right. Well…what’s the problem?”
Akutagawa didn’t answer right away. Atsushi took the opportunity to admire the view the mafia executive had sought to use as inspiration. It really was beautiful out tonight. It was cold but not freezing – just enough for them to see their breaths puff out before them. The stars were shining, there were colorful lights all over the city, and a kind of uneasy calm settled between him and the man who’d sworn to kill him one day. Under literally any other circumstances, Atsushi might find it almost romantic.
He shook that thought right out of his head.
“Gin has grown to be a very beautiful young woman. I’m not sure how to buy for someone like that.”
The bluntness of the statement surprised the weretiger. “She’s still your sister, though, isn’t she?”
Akutagawa let out a heavy sigh, turned on his heel, and leaned against the railing of the overlook, shooting a weary glance at the detective. “I can’t believe I’m talking to you about this.”
“I’m just trying to help.”
“Lately she has been seeking ways to feel more feminine in her off time. She never used to. Buying gifts for her has always been easy because she’s an assassin, and I know what assassins like in their arsenal. Especially hers.” The mafia executive blew out a huff of air and looked to the sky. “Now I feel the need to encourage her on this new path, yet…I don’t know how. I know nothing about women or what they like.”
Atsushi took a moment to digest the fact that Akutagawa was speaking to him so openly about his family. “Maybe jewelry?”
“My first thought as well. Yet what I get her should be practical. There’s no use buying her diamonds when she spends most of her time fighting and would never wear it.”
“Right.”
There was silence for a moment before Akutagawa asked, “What would you get Kyouka?”
Atsushi hummed thoughtfully. “Well…I guess I don’t know. She’s younger than your sister, so I’m pretty sure she’d still like stuffed animals and things like that. Maybe. It’s a little different.”
“Yes, I suppose so.”
The detective glanced at his rival, observing how genuinely contemplative and serious he looked. It was clear that he wanted to do something special for his sister, and that warmed Atsushi’s heart on her behalf. He leaned against the railing as well. “You’ll figure it out. Try not to worry so much.”
“I don’t need your pity.”
“I’m not pitying you! I’m telling you you’ve got this. It would probably help you to cheer up a little bit, though. I find it hard to go Christmas shopping when I’m in a bad mood.”
Akutagawa rolled his eyes. “I’m not in a bad mood. I’m trying to take this seriously, weretiger.”
“You can take things seriously and still smile about it,” Atsushi replied, feeling emboldened by the moment they’d just shared without trying to kill each other for once. He reached over and poked the darker man’s ribs.
Akutagawa gasped sharply and jolted away, suddenly standing up straight and glaring full force. “Do not even think about it.”
“It’s not like you can hide it from me now.” The detective flashed him a little smirk. “I know you’re ticklish. You can’t take that away from me.”
The way Akutagawa’s cheeks blossomed red at the accusation surprised Atsushi into silence. Thankfully that stillness also afforded him the sharp perception he needed to realize the man was lunging at him, one fist drawn back and ready to strike.
Atsushi ducked under his punch and grabbed onto his sides, squeezing hard. “Gotcha!”
Akutagawa sputtered and grabbed a fistful of the weretiger’s hair just before he was lifted off his feet and thrown unceremoniously over Atsushi’s shoulder, fingers still wiggling in his sides and forcing deep, raspy giggles from him that he would deny until the end of time.
“This ought to get you into the Christmas shopping spirit, Akutagawa!” the detective giggled along with him, pinching and digging and squeezing in quick succession, enjoying every yelp and squeal and kick he got for his efforts. “Tickle, tickle!”
“Put – puhuhuhut me down! Weretihihihiger!” Akutagawa demanded through growling chuckles, pounding a fist on his captor’s back, kicking his legs to try and throw him off-balance.
Atsushi laughed. “Aww, someone’s a little too ticklish, huh? Quit squirming! I want to get to your ribs. That was a good spot last time.”
“Dohohohon’t you dahahare!” Akutagawa barely had time to voice the protest before those tickling fingers wiggled their way up to his lowest ribs, making him choke on his words and bark out a loud laugh before he could manage to slap a hand over his mouth, kicking even more wildly now. “Off! Gehehehehet off!”
“You’re the one over my shoulder, remember?”
“Puhuhuhuhut me dohohohown! I swehehehehear – weretiger! No, dohon’t – quit thahahahat!”
“What’s that? Don’t quit?” Atsushi finally managed to get his fingers into the groove between Akutagawa’s bottom ribs, more than a little satisfied when the man froze in his efforts to escape, laughter bursting out of him beyond his control at the tiniest hint of pressure. “There we go. Does it tickle bad here, Akutagawa?”
“WERETIGER!!” The mafia executive’s tone had shifted into something resembling pleading now, his fist pounding weaker against Atsushi’s back, turning more into a kind of tapping out gesture. “STOHOHOHOHOHOP!!”
Atsushi decided he’d probably pushed his luck enough for one day and relented, gently setting Akutagawa back on his feet. Akutagawa immediately shoved away from him, arms curling across his torso as he dissolved into a coughing fit.
It was only then that the weretiger realized he wasn’t just coughing to cover up any leftover giggles, as he’d suspected the first time. He’d genuinely had trouble breathing being tickled like that, and with his condition…
Before he could begin to feel badly about it, Akutagawa straightened again and clenched his fists, glaring daggers at him. A beat passed, then he thrust his hands into his coat pockets and started walking, brushing past Atsushi without a word, and the detective was positive this particular interaction was over.
But then Akutagawa stopped in his tracks and muttered over his shoulder, “You can follow if you want.”
Atsushi couldn’t hide the way those words made him beam from ear to ear if he wanted to.
By the time the night was over and they parted ways, Atsushi got to witness one more holiday miracle besides actually having a civil conversation with Akutagawa and getting to tickle him without dying afterward. In the third shop they visited, he watched as Akutagawa’s eyes suddenly lit up and he went straight for a simple pendant with a violet dragon etched into it – something that seemed very fitting for Gin, even to Atsushi.
It was jewelry, but practical. Something that could be worn under her work clothes without fear of shattering at the tiniest movement.
Akutagawa was satisfied, and Atsushi was happy to have been able to help – even if that help was simply getting his rival back into the spirit of the season with something as straightforward as a little laughter.
So, Chapter 112 is out.
We don't exactly get much of explanation or distinction from S5 ending ep.
Mori, he really just glued in the fangs for FUN! What even is the Mafia! (Plus, Dazai Laughed!) We had old man Yaoi. I am not going to talk about it as we already know what went down there. We got Kunikida, Atsushi and Tanizaki. And Gogol man being sad (it broke my heart again to see his reaction). Ngl, even i would be sad if someone killed my Situationship But not Chuuya calling out that Situationship, lol (That was my exact reaction when a friend of mine told me she was in one and how it works) SKK bickering, still. And Fukuzawa being handed the greatest responsibility.
All in all, everything we had seen so far, only an added reaction here and there.
Next chapter will most likely also follow through the rest of the episode. But nothing much is left, so chances are that we may get new content. Or latest by April.
This all seems well and good, but I'm suddenly feeling anxious about how things are going to progress further.
I've said time and again, BSD takes 'it can't get worse than this' phase and just proves it wrong again and again. We reach new rock-bottoms every time.
So, things looking up now, gives me anxiety that something is going to go horribly wrong. (Cue the flashback of the 'Two hours later' bit)
All things that can horribly go wrong:
Everything with Soukoku at Meursault. I find it so weird that we are not getting detailed explanation of how things are proceeding there. We have seen Dazai and Fyodor play mind games for so many arcs now, there is always an explanation at the end of each one. But this doesn't have that 'satisfactory' level of explanation yet. Yes, Chuuya again came to Dazai's aid, but how? How did Dazai knew that the Vampires were turned in his favor. Would killing Fyodor (if he actually is dead) really be wise? How is he sure that it was Fyodor plan all along to get killed and he played right into it? You know when things are kept ambiguous, as most things related to Prison break arc are, it means there will be some facts that will come in light later. And that's what I'm scared of because it can be anything! It does not help that Dazai is yet to take that antidote! What if it doesn't work? What is Nikolai goes for revenge? Since he love's loosing himself and that's why he fought, so what if he continues? Can Chuuya's gravity manipulation even be effective against someone like Gogol? He can just go from one place to another, dodge all of Chuuya's attacks. We also know he can use his ability with Dazai as long as he isn't touching him. What is he takes the antidote form the case before Dazai can take it? That makes him such a kryptonite for Soukoku.
Then we have,
The Shin soukoku's battle against whatever that (Fukuchi) was. Two hours, if you think about it is not a long duration of time for things to start fucking up suddenly. There must be something already laid in waiting for it to start going shit when time comes. We are yet to get the details of how the Vampirism is going to wear off. Because it does, Akutagawa was back to normal when he was fighting with Atsushi. Sskk teaming up is well and good, but can they stand against that being? They had a hard time dealing with Fukuchi only a while ago, this enhanced being will be much tougher than them. What if this also is set for failure? only for the world to be purged into more chaos? Maybe i'm being a bit to pessimistic, but i've lost confidence in the mangaka's they always do the unexpected and kill everyone's favs, fr.
That also makes me think
Will taking on the role of Mankind's leader, lead to Fukuzawa on a deeper end? We know he struggled earlier, before founding agency, with his assassination work. He had refused to work in the war for a reason. Won't this be undoing everything he's worked for so many years? Also, taking in that honor from their government (or officials, i don't exactly remember what it was. I'm talking about the appreciation symbol of katana'?' they received at the beginning of S4) that basically led them to take on that case that declared them terrorists. Won't taking the role of Mankind's Leader also make Fukuzawa susceptible to be declared as the Mankind's Enemy? This seems similar to that previous situation. Reminds me of how Ranpo called this responsibility, or last wish, a curse. And Ranpo is always right, so there's that. Maybe that's how they are going to introduce the next adversaries?
Too much uncertainty and what-ifs.
Mushitaro+Yokomizo's parallels with other character pairings
I noticed a surprising amount of parallels between Mushitaro and his dead friend Yokomizo with the other characters in BSD (fyolai, dazai, ranpoe, sskk). There's even potential foreshadowing for the future of certain characters. Idk if anyone's done this before but I wanted to write something about it since we're meeting them in the anime soon. Just hear me out for a bit, and spoilers for the manga up to current events!
So Yokomizo is a mystery writer and his goal is to create the "Ultimate Mystery" greater than anything else in the genre. He achieved this by having his friend Mushitaro secretly kill him, turning his own death into a real life mystery. Basically, his death at his friend's hands brought him fulfillment.
This is a common theme in BSD characters: Death as an expression of love or death with the person you love bringing fulfillment. Yokomizo turned to Mushitaro to be the "key" to his death because Mushitaro is the only one he trusts. Mushitaro agreed to this plan because he cares about Yokomizo. He wants to "fulfill his friend's final wish" even if it hurts him in the process. This murder represented how much they loved each other. Chapter 56 shows Yokomizo telling Mushitaro "you truly are the only--" while Mushitaro cries:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To me this parallels Fyodor and Nikolai's storyline later on. Chapter 78 is where we find out that Nikolai wants to kill Fyodor because Fyodor is "the only one who gets him" (which sounds a lot like what Yokomizo's last words to Mushitaro were). Since Nikolai's goal is to go against his emotions, that means his actual desire is to keep Fyodor with him. Nikolai's basically saying "You're the one I have to kill because you're the one I love the most." Just like Mushitaro, it's death as an expression of love.
I believe the parallel is intentional since it's through Mushitaro that we first meet Nikolai in chapter 57. Isn't it fitting that the characters with very similar arcs serve as introductions to each other?
Tumblr media
This could be more than just a cool parallel. It potentially foreshadows Nikolai's future if he does manage to kill Fyodor (or if he's fooled into thinking Fyodor is dead). We see what happens to Mushitaro after Yokomizo is dead. In chapter 69, he writes to Yokomizo as if he were still alive and cries while doing it. Then he hallucinates Yokomizo giving him advice in his time of need:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the same chapter he says "I can't drum up much interest in the outside world any longer." While Yokomizo found fulfillment in dying, Mushitaro was left alive and suffering. Maybe this is what awaits Nikolai if he achieves his goal? I've seen people meme on this before, the whole Nikolai-kills-Fyodor-and-instantly-regrets-it but given this parallel, it's actually a possible direction for his character. But this is just a guess/meta/prediction so take it with a grain of salt.
On a lighter note, there's Ranpo and Poe. They also have a dynamic where they're the only ones who get each other, and that's the reason Poe wanted to kill Ranpo initially. The difference is they realized immediately that the other's presence fulfills them more than their death would. (good for Ranpoe for being the most stable pairing in BSD). From chapters 32 and 49:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next parallel is Dazai and his constant desire for a double suicide. It's not as clear a parallel since there isn't any love here (he begs literal strangers for it). But he does have the same concept of death bringing fulfillment, even if the rest of the BSD cast is (rightfully) horrified/confused by it. Interestingly, he actually does commit suicide in the Beast universe... in the presence of Atsushi and Akutagawa. So like Yokomizo, he still wanted his death to be witnessed by meaningful company.
So is that all? I mean, the main duo of the series is Shin Soukoku but they don't seem to have any parallels with Mushitaro and Yokomizo. They try to kill each other yeah but they hate each other. This is supposed to be about death as an expression of love, or death by someone you love bringing fulfillment. What parallels could they possibly have with them?
Oh wait whats this--
Tumblr media
oh. oh.
So Yokomizo had a terminal illness... with one year to live... and he used his friend as a last resort to finding fulfillment...
That sounds familiar...
Tumblr media
Yeah... 🥲
Akutagawa desperately wants acknowledgement from Dazai before he dies. He thinks the only way he can achieve that is through his rivalry with Atsushi. Just like Yokomizo needed Mushitaro, Akutagawa needs Atsushi for his fulfillment. The fact that it can only be Atsushi PLUS the fact that Atsushi hallucinates Akutagawa telling him what to do in the recent chapter 105, similar to how Mushitaro hallucinated Yokomizo giving him advice in chapter 69? It shows they do find meaning in the other (even if it's not 'love').
Last bit of angst before this ends: if Yokomizo's illness truly is foreshadowing for Akutagawa's illness, then idk if I like that because it kinda foreshadows that Aku's ultimate fate really is to die even if he somehow manages to come back from being a vampire.
And that's fun. Everyone loves the thought of their favorite character dying :DD
Bungo Stray Dogs: my thoughts
So I'm not caught up on the manga (I'm trying). But I caught up on the anime and
HOLY
SHIT
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I actually screamed at the second to last ep.
*Spoilers ahead*
I COULDNT HANDLE CHUUYA - AS A "VAMPIRE" - SHOOTING DAZAI. OH MY GOD.
But everything is okay because that's not the case. But I also watched it in Dub (bc I was trying to cruise through it because its been a hot minute since I've caught up on anime) and DAZAI SAID FUCK AND IM LIVING FOR IT! Chuuya too. I was giggling like a maniac when I heard Chuuya say "You fucked up, detective agency!" Then continue to fuck up the Hunting Dogs.
PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME IS TACHIHARA OKAY?!?!? (I swear I'm reading the manga. This weekend I'm planning on reading it all the way.)
Also, I absolutely loved seeing how the agency was formed. What got me was Yosuno and her ties to the mafia. I literally doubletake-d and screamed "WhaT??" and my family thought I was nuts. Maybe I am. Its fine.
But s5 broke my heart and I'm like, over it. I need some Shin Soukoku fighting together again.
Also, can we talk about Ranpoe??? I absolutely love them, and I think they're now my third favourite ship in the series. Behind SSK and SSKK, of course. I dunno if I could see most of the ships. But, no hate to it if you do ship it because I believe we should ship what we want without judgement (FICTIONAL CHARACTERS MEN! FICTIONAL CHARACTERS!), I absolutely despise Fyozai. I just... no.
Though I do think Fyodor was a very cool character—a little boring—but interesting. Especially with his understanding of Dazai's intellect. Now I think the character with the most depth is Ranpo. Like, man's backstory - the little we know, is quite interesting. It makes me think about a lot.
Also, why is the story character based, not world based, when we know so much more about the world than we do the characters?? Like we know a little about a lot of the characters but know a lot about the world. It's insane. I love character based stories because I feel knowing the characters builds the world.
But the most we know is: Atsushi is an abused orphan; Dazai is an ex mafia member; Kenji is scary; Ranpo is an orphan too who is actually gifted with intellect instead of an ability - though it kind of is an ability; Fukuzawa is an ex assassin; Yosuno hates her ability because she was forced by Mori to keep soldiers alive during the gifted war when they just wanted to die; Kunikida is an ex maths teacher; Chuuya is a human that was experimented on so he's basically part yōkai/ayakashi (Thank you Noragami for introducing me to that delightful word—it's basically a word to describe supernatural beings/creatures and lord knows what Chuuya actually is); Tanizaki is... I don't remember anything specific about him and Naomi...; Tachihara is not a mafia member but rather a military officer sworn to get revenge on Yosuno (she didn't do anything except keep his brother alive - poor babies. She was forced to as well, which, in my opinion, makes it worse); Akutagawa is sick (I swear to god if the series ends without him...); Gin is Akutagawa's sister (HC Gin is enby); Mori was an underground doctor before he slit the previous bosses throat.
Like barely anything about a single character. Just bits and pieces for each. Those are just the main ones I remember.
Anyway~
Goodbye!
OH btdubs! I'm writing a skk au fic/one-shot based off s5 ending but also dead apple. Might post the link here. Idk yet. 🤷‍♂️
BSD flower/tattoo shop au sskk
Ok so I need some opinions because I really wanna write a bungou stray dogs flower shop and tattoo artist AU with shin soukoku because: 1) there's a severe lack of them, 2) if there is sskk is always background to skk, and 3) there's no new ones which I like. BUTTTT!!!! I want to do it where instead of Akutagawa being the tattoo artist, he's the flower shop dude. And instead of being the flower shop dude, Atsushi's the tattoo artist. Like IMAGINE Atsushi absolutely DECKED in tattoo's with long hair and tell me that's not hot. Also because it's a no ability's AU I want Atsushi to have a white tiger tattoo and that's why Akutagawa calls him Jinko. I think it's adorable. But yeah would you guys read that?? Like I know it's a bit mixed up bit it'll still be as in character as I can make it. Oh, and Akutagawa runs the shop with Gin because, again, adorable. And I'll probably add HiguGin in there too. Maybe TachiHiguGin we'll see how it goes or how people want it. As for the length I'm thinking multiple chapters. Probably slowburn, some angst (it's sskk come on now (but not too much)), ofc fluff and probs quite a few background ships. But yeah opinions?????
RANPOE & FYOLAI HOGWARTS AU
(Here's Soukoku and Shin Soukoku Hogwarts AU if you're interested. I decided to put Ranpoe and Floyai in one post rather than making them seperate. Anyways, this might be my last BSD hogwarts au so enjoy ^Δ^)
EDOGAWA RANPO
Ranpo knew exactly where he belonged and put himself in Ravenclaw before the Hat could utter a word.
Ranpo is two years older than Dazai. He's the same age as Kouyou and Oda.
Ranpo is raised in a family of squibs. He was born and bred most of his childhood in muggle society. Despite this, he isn't ignorant of the existence of the Wizarding World, and because both his parents are squibs, he never anticipated inheriting magic.
Not long after his parents' death, Ranpo lived in an orphanage. When he turned 11, he received his Hogwarts letter and a visit from a professor, Fukuzawa. Ranpo declined the offer, disliking the Wizarding World for rejecting his parents because of their status as squibs.
Fukuzawa convinced him to come to Hogwarts (maybe also bribing him with the promise of sweets). In the end, Ranpo decided to give it a try.
Ranpo found the train purely by luck when he unknowingly walked through the wall and bumped into another student.
He met Yosano, who basically became his travel guide. They turn up late, and found a compartment occupied by one student and a raccoon.
Ranpo isn't a powerful wizard. He struggles in needing more effort than an average wizard to perform spells. For what he lacks, he overly exceeds it in other subjects that doesn't require the use of magic.
He takes up Divination because it's the easiest subject to bullshit his way into. Ranpo successfully fools everyone into believing he's a seer.
Ranpo is wary of Dazai, and doesn't trust him but he does appreciate the man's efforts of breaking every rule in the school.
EDGAR ALLEN POE
Edgar is a nervous wreck in his sorting. He obsessively repeats 'not Hufflepuff' in his head, and the Sorting Hat mentions jokingly how Edgar has a lot of loyalty. Edgar panics, and the Hat laughs. He's sorted in Ravenclaw.
Most of Edgar's family lineage are Ravenclaws.
Edgar's family is one of the powerful families in the Wizarding World. They hold traditional beliefs, and values pureblood supremacy above all— which made Edgar reluctant to befriend Ranpo at first.
His family expects Edgar to become a politician, and forces him to participate in parties but this results to making Edgar's introverted nature worst.
He Owls Ranpo his short stories and poems. Ranpo replies back with his opinions and criticism and shameless demands for sweets. Unable to say no every time, Edgar never fails to send back expensive treats.
Edgar hides Ranpo's identity from his family. When they found out, it caused a stir and Edgar is forced to avoid Ranpo for most of his Third Year.
He chooses Arithmancy and is talented at math.
Edgar talks to Karl to relieve anxiety, and fidgets his hands a lot. Most students are thrown off by his odd behavior, and doesn't interact with him.
In Third Year, Yosano still talks to him, understanding his situation a bit. Edgar admits to missing Ranpo a lot.
"He misses you," she says, "He's just a big oaf who says he doesn't but I can see it in his face, he wonders how you are."
MORE RANPOE
Ranpo is pissed when Edgar avoids him and reciprocates the treatment. Yosana has to play the middle man between the two.
Yosano reaches her limit and finds a way to make the two talk. Her plan is formed when she accidentally walks in on an infamous student— Dazai Osama stepping out of a seemingly random door that manifested on the wall with a Gryffindor student, both boys looking distinctly ruffled. That room, Yosana later finds out, is called the Room of Requirement.
Edgar finds it strange how Yosano is so insistent about showing him this very cool room she found. This supposed room does sound cool as Yosano explains it to him.
"How does it open then?" Edgar asks, and Yosano stands still for a few seconds before a door appears. Edgar is amazed. "What did you ask it for?"
Yosano looks at him, dead in the eyes. "This is for your own good." Then opens the door and shoves him inside. Edgar flinches when he turns around to see closed-lid eyes already directed at him.
Yosano feels bad as she continues to wait in the hallway. She considers walking in and cutting this whole ordeal until the door re-appears again and Edgar and Ranpo exits, the first being flustered and the latter grinning way too devilishly.
"Did you two make up?" Yosano asks them later. Edgar's unable to form a coherent sentence without sputtering so Ranpo answers for him, "Oh, we did. Edgar's surprisingly good with his mouth." There's a long, long pause.
"Ranpo-kun... She said make up," Edgar corrects him, exasperated.
Ranpo shrugs unapologetically. "Whoopsie."
Fyodor Dostoevsky
Slytherin. Everyone in attendance guessed that correctly because other than Dazai, Fyodor pretty much reeks Slytherin energy.
No one can pronounce his last name correctly in the first try.
The most popular rumor in Hogwarts other than 'Akutagawa-is-actually-a-vampire' conspiracy is that Dazai and Fyodor were half-brothers separated in birth.
People would argue Chuuya and Dazai's fights are bad, but clearly they've never heard Fyodor and Dazai's verbal spats because witnessing it often leads to existential crisis, utter whiplash or coming to a widely-regarded conclusion that these two men are fucking insane.
Dazai and Fyodor doesn't even need to physcially speak in order to argue, they're tapping on their desk for some reason, and someone points out its morse code and sometimes if one of them gets bored, switches into a different language.
In the same way Dazai responds to a conversation by mentioning his recent failed suicide attempt, Fyodor responds to a conversation by mentioning God and something about the impurities of human existence. These two are loners for a reason.
Fyodor is never seen without a bible. In fact, no one has seen him hold another book that isn't a bible.
Fyodor's dorm mate is scared of him. Everyone assumes his fear is caused by something horrific Fyodor had done, but really, it's because Fyodor only showers once a week.
Nikolai Gogol
Nikolai may or may not have playfully threatened the Hat to put him in Slytherin, but if he did, then tee-hee.
Nikolai belongs from a rich family of reserved purebloods. Despite being a wizard, he has a fascination in muggle magic tricks, often displaying incredible dexterity with cards and over-the-top tricks that end him in detention.
To say Nikolai is a talker would be am understatement. His voice is a constant background noise inside the Slytherin Common Room that most students had stopped finding it annoying. In fact, it'd be more unnerving if one day Nikolai ever went silent.
An average patient listener would last under Nikolai's rants by 10-15 minutes, before their ears had enough of the Russian's nonsense. The only person who isn't phased by it is Fyodor, and that's only because he lets Nikolai ramble while he sits quietly. It's unknown whether Fyodor understands him at all, or he's just pretending.
Actually, other than Fyodor, Nikolai's roommate, Sigma— unknown last name, never attended the first sorting day and quite literally just appeared to classes one day— gets along with the Russian well.
Nikolai's sense of humor is a combination of explicit body harm, pop-culture references and jokes that a wizard with zero knowledge of the internet will never get. Every student has fallen victim by the ligma joke at some point.
Nikolai has a habit of appearing in weird places randomly.
Anyone with a brain and eyeballs can tell that Nikolai is infatuated with Fyodor. Whether or not Fyodor reciprocates it is the real question.
MORE FYOLAI
It is later revealed that Nikolai and Fyodor has been dating before they ever saw each other in Hogwarts. They're childhood friends and apparently, childhood sweethearts as well.
"My parents asked me about Dos-kun years ago and I answered by saying we were boyfriends," Nikolai explains animatedly, "Dos-kun was there when I said it and he never denied it so here we are! In our tenth-year relationship." He pauses. "Or is it our eleventh year? No wait it's our thirteenth—"
Sigma squints his eyes at Fyodor. "I–is this true?"
Fyodor stares blankly. "I didn't realize we were dating at all."
"How can you not know? Do you guys do lovey-dovey things like holding hands or cuddle? Or kiss?"
Fyodor tilts his head, the only indication of confusion in his face is the slight raise of brows. "Aren't those regular activities between close friendships?"
Sigma faceplants on the table.
Later on, Sigma educates them about human relationships.
Bsd chap 108 theories
Wow, Bungou Stray Dogs has really opened up the world of actively participating in fandom for me. Anyways.
So, as all who have seen the newest chapter know, the way the vampires are gonna be cured is probably Aya having a girlboss moment and pulling the sword out of Bram.
And while on one hand, I do like this and think that Aya saving everyone would be delightful, I am a shipper above anything else, and therefore need Akutagawa to be turned back into a human by sskk’s pure gay love. Chuuya... god knows how he’s gonna turn back, skk are a wild card and I’m not smart enough to theorize about them so I’m just not going to try and touch them at all.
Anyways, I am here to make a theory as to how
SHIN SOUKOKU CAN STILL WIN THIS
Narratively speaking I feel like these two need to do some more homosexual bullshit before Akutagawa turns back, so I suggest that maybe this is what’ll happen.
So while Aya is pulling the sword out of Bram the sskk fight is still going on, so maybe at some point before Aya somehow pulls the sword out Akutagawa corners Atsushi, getting him into a position where he can’t escape or fight back against Aku without killing him, and he realizes that he can’t bring himself to kill him and also why he can’t bring himself to kill him (it’s cause he’s in love), maybe he also realizes that this is what Akutagawa felt when he saved him. And so he just smiles at him and says something romantic, I’m not sure what would work best maybe “Thank you for saving me” or something like that. Anyways Akutagawa hears him say whatever he says and sees him smiling at him the same way that he had smiled when sacrificing himself for Atsushi, and he pauses before dealing the killing blow, even though there is absolutely nothing stopping him. And in that moment when he is paused, with his face looking maybe just a little bit more human, Aya pulls the Sword out from Bram and Akutagawa is back to being human. He then passes out and falls into Atsushi’s arms and Atsushi is just standing there stunned and then starts smiling widely and has a little thought bubble that says “I’m so glad he’s back” or something else gay like that, I’m not good a dialogue.
Will it happen like this? Who knows! But everything’s possible and I could be god. It’s possible.
@kyouka-supremacy You like sskk bullshit, I think you may enjoy this.
hey rey! i have a few different characters/ships for your ask game so feel free to choose which to do!
1. shin soukoku
2. dazai & odasaku
3. geto
4. kunikida
5. giyuu
hope you have a great day/night! (btw i’ll get cracking on your most recent request for lee geto and ler gojo 😉)
oh oh oh very interesting options! i'll see if i have something for these!
shin soukoku: Fever Dream (Palaye Royale)
can you see the words i'm up here trying to preach // no need to cry, you'll never find me trying to leave // i can see that you're in pain from your pale and lifeless face // so let go and float away
it just has this vibe of hey we're both tangled up in this net of lies that other people tell and wars that other people fight and maybe together we're gonna be strong enough to end all of this
dazai & odasaku: Savior II (Black Veil Brides)
and every word that came from you has carried me // so i'm trying my hardest to be what you made // like a court jester, my smile won't fade // giving it all, rising to fall to my grave // answer the call, living in thrall, you're the one born to save
is it not giving dazai right after oda's death?? just a little bit?? their relationship is so special to me actually i don't talk about them enough (also i was so close to taking loser baby from hazbin hotel i'm sorry 💀)
geto: Joan of Arc (In This Moment)
you can crucify, you can nail me to your cross (light me up, light me up) // you can find me guilty for everything you lost (light me up, light me up) // go ahead, blame me for your sins // go ahead and sacrifice me // i'll be your martyr, i'll be your joan of arc
is this a good time to tell you that i never actually watched jjk? 😭 idk if this fits i feel like it does from the little knowledge i have but you need to tell me if it makes sense i'm so sorry (also yey thank you for writing the request!!)
kunikida: Das Herz eines Drachen (Feuerschwanz)
du hast das herz eines drachen, glühend wie gold // flieg in die schlacht, so edel und stolz // du hast das herz eines drachen in deiner brust // kämpf bis zum schluss // und irgendwann wenn wir verglüh'n // halt ich es fest, weil ich es spür // dass dein starkes herz sein feuer nie verliert // denn dein drachenherz schlägt weiter, tief in mir
i feel like it's often overlooked how much the ada members admire kunikida and this feels like it fits his leader personality so well idk. i'm recommending this song a thousand times and here's a translation for you to make you consider listening to it lol:
you've got the heart of a dragon, glowing like gold // fly into battle, so noble and proud // you've got the heart of a dragon inside of your chest // fight 'til the end // and one day when we burn out // i'll hold onto it because i sense // that your strong heart will never lose its fire // and your dragon heart will keep on beating inside of me
giyuu: 99 Luftballons (Nena)
99 jahre krieg ließen keinen platz für sieger // kriegsminister gibt's nicht mehr und auch keine düsenflieger // heute zieh ich meine runden // seh die welt in trümmern liegen // hab 'n luftballon gefunden // denk an dich und lass ihn fliegen
yes it's german again my apologies and there's technically an official english version of this (99 red balloons) but honestly it's a pretty bad translation. it's a song about war being horrible and unnecessary and how we should strive for peace, the balloons being a metaphor for countries firing their weapons over every little thing, and honestly this part i put here reminds me of giyuu and sabito, or giyuu thinking about sabito post canon:
99 years of war left no room for winners // there are no more ministers of war and no more fighting jets // today i'm making my way around // i see the world lying in ruins // i have found a balloon // i think of you and let it fly
Hello! I always feel super awkward doing these so please don’t mind me and feel free to disregard, but I just wanted to say congratulations on 200 followers! That’s awesome! You deserve it. ☺️
If you are at all inclined, I would looove to see #10 with Shin Soukoku; I think it would be so cute for Aku to just get fed up with Atsushi and attack him with tickles (plus the idea of him calling him a “brat” instead of an “idiot” is so funny to me) 🤭
But please don’t feel pressured if you’re not interested! We all know I’m a little too obsessed with BSD atm so when I saw you were doing an event I was like *gasp* and wanted to at least give it a shot. 😅
Anyway I’m rambling now but yes - CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN!! 🥳🥳🥳
A/N: AAAAAHHH A SHIN SOUKOKU PROMPT AJKSHHSBSBJ MY HEART- 😻 Anyway, hiii how are you doing? Thanks a lot for participating, è stata una piacevolissima sorpresa (it was a really pleasant surprise) 💚🤍❤️ I hope you enjoy it, and please feel free to send or request something whenever you want to, I'd really appreciate it ^_^ Oh, and thanks for your congratulations <333
Drabble Event Day 9
The room fell silent. Akutagawa glared at his frenemy with a murderous look, that made the latter shake like a kitten. Atsushi didn't even dare to move, worried that even his breathing could anger the Port Mafia executive even more. He found his reaction quite overly dramatic, was being called 'Dazai-san's biggest simp' really that big of a deal?
Apparently it was to the dark-haired guy, who had already summoned Rashoumon and was already charging towards him. The weretiger squawked and tried to dodge him, but he failed to notice the shadow monster sneaking up behind him and he found himself pinned to the wall in no time.
That's it, he thought, but then Akutagawa did something he'd never expected. He dug his fingers in his ribcage and vibrated them. Atsushi's eyes widened, was he really going to use tickling? "You little brat! How do you like this?" The dark-haired guy asked teasingly.
"Mehehe aha brahahahahat? Sahays thehehe ohohone whoho's gehettihihihing sohoho wohorked uhuhup fohohor mehehe stahahahahating fahahahacts!" He knew he should've kept that comment to himself, but seeing Akutagawa's furious and embarrassed expression was totally worth it.
"Let's see if you'll be still sassy after a minute of this!" The taller guy yelled while moving to his ears, massaging both earlobes and quickly blowing on both of them every once in a while, knowing that it was a squeak-spot for the weretiger... thanks to Dazai.
"Nahaha EEK! Whohohoho tohoho- EEK! Whohoho tohohold yohou EEK! Ahahahabohout thihihis?! EEHEHEHEK!" The white-haired guy made a longer and more high-pitched squeal when his frenemy blew on his ear just a bit longer. "That wouldn't be the thing I'd be worried about, if I were you, Jinko." Akutagawa's evil smirk made the poor boy gulp.
The Port Mafia executive moved to his underarms, scribbling on the left one and poking the right one, making the feeling even more maddening for the detective. "Aaaaaahhhahahaha cohohohome ohohohon stohohohop ihihihit!!" The shorter boy whined while laughing his head off. "I'll consider it after you apologize calling me a simp." The Rashoumon holder set his conditions.
Atsushi knew it was his chance to break free from that embarrassing-yet-merciless assault, but maybe because of his pride or maybe because of his playfulness he decided to say the worst thing in that situation. "Neheheheveheheher!!"
"Fine, you asked for it!" The taller guy growled, probably a bit irritated by his opponent's stubbornness, and opened the lower buttons of the weretiger's button down shirt, exposing his stomach. "Huh? What are yAAAAAHAHHAHA WAHAHAHAHAIT PLEHEHEAHAHAHAHASEHEEE" The detective scream-laughed when Akutagawa wiggled a finger into his navel.
"Oh? Why are you screaming so much? It's only a finger." The Port Mafia executive grinned in content, knowing that he had hit the jackpot "If such a childish tactic can reduce you like that, imagine what will happen when I actually try to kill you." In another moment, Atsushi would've probably talked back, but he was already running out of stamina.
He didn't even last a minute, he was just too ticklish for his own good. And thanks to Dazai, his nemesis was aware of his big little weakness. "IHIHIHI'M SOHOHORRYEHEHE PLEHEHEAHASE STAHAHAHAHAHAP" He yielded, finally putting an end to the assault.
Akutagawa withdrew Rashoumon, watching the shorter guy sink to the floor, then he crouched down and asked "So, who's a simp for Dazai-san?"
"Nohohot you..." His frenemy replied, still giggling a bit. "Hmph!" The executive scoffed "And you better keep that in mind." He stated ominously before turning on his heels and leaving.
If only he had noticed Atsushi shifting into his tiger form and getting ready to pounce...
I’ve decided to throw my two bits into the ring on what order the remaining Light Novels are going to get adapted into the anime, since I was right about Untold Origins getting adapted for S4. Only very minor spoilers below, and none about the actual ongoing the-Agency-was-framed plot in the anime.
To exposit for anime-onlys, Bungo Stray Dogs currently has eight light novels:
Dazai Osamu’s Entrance Exam (this is the Azure Messenger case with Kunikida) Dark Era (this was adapted at the beginning of S2) Untold Origins of the Detective Agency (this was adapted at the beginning of S4) 55 Minutes (this is a case that explores ability limitations) Dead Apple (I’m not explaining Dead Apple) BEAST (this is an AU where everything is not where it should be) Fifteen (this was adapted at the beginning of S3) Stormbringer (this is a story about Chuuya)
As of right now, only three of the eight LNs have yet to be animated. Dark Era, Fifteen, and Untold Origins were all mini-arcs at the start of the second, third, and fourth seasons respectively, and Dazai Osamu’s Entrance Exam was kind of awkwardly shoehorned into the first season with most of Dazai’s role in it stripped out. Dead Apple got its own movie. As of now, our options of LNs to adapt are Stormbringer, 55 Minutes, and BEAST.
First off, I think BEAST is inapplicable. It got a live-action recently, they’re going to wait a while before they animate it, if they ever animate it at all. Which LN gets adapted into a mini-arc at the beginning of each season also seems to rely somewhat on tying it back to the current thread of that season, and other than the entire BEAST world being sourced from The Book, and its focus on Shin Soukoku, it won’t have anything to do with the ongoing arc.
Secondly, I think Stormbringer is unlikely to ever be adapted as a mini-arc at all, if the animation studio is being even slightly reasonable. I’m as eager to see Chuuya’s backstory play out on screen as anyone else, of course, but the fact of the matter is that Stormbringer is by far the longest LN yet. As far as the official English translations go, the median page count is 187, with Fifteen coming in at the shortest, with 152 pages. Stormbringer's page count is 340. It’s almost twice as thick as every other LN of the bunch. If they wanted to do that story even the slightest bit of justice and not compress it until it’s unrecognizable, they’d have to spread the “mini” arc out over half the season OR make it into an independent movie like Dead Apple. My vote is make a movie... so BONES, if you’re listening-
Thirdly, we have 55 Minutes. This is the one I see as most likely for them to adapt as S5′s mini-arc, if they even do one at all. They might not. 55 Minutes is centered around the actual scientific limitations of Abilities and Ability-users, and how those two things interact, and how various Abilities can interact and clash, etc. It also focuses heavily on Shin Soukoku, which will be relevant to this arc for reasons that anime-onlys will probably discover somewhere around the S5 finale. Eh, if you paid attention to the S4 opening, you’ll probably be able to guess why already.
So, yeah. My best scientific guess is 55 Minutes for Season 5, followed by a Stormbringer movie, and then maybe BEAST sometime somewhere when they get around to it.
Sitting on the roof of one of Yokohama’s few skyscrapers, Atsushi wondered why he was here. He hadn't actually thought it through. He didn’t want to, right now he just wanted to enjoy the setting sun. It bathed the city in a warm glow, it made the chill in his heart worse. The chill spread from his heart to the back of his neck making him shiver. He felt so cold, even in the light of the summer sun.
Checking his phone, it was almost nine thirty in the evening. Why was he even still here? He knew– he knew he wasn’t coming. So what was the point of coming here. The last time they talked, if you could even call it that, they had blown up. It had been something stupid, Atsushi’s pretty sure it was about how reckless they both were, or maybe –maybe it had been something domestic? But he was sure his ex lover and partner wanted nothing to do with him now.
But when the roof access door opened, and there was a familiar cough, he thought maybe there was a chance. If not a chance to get back together, then at least to be partners again. That would at least get Dazai off his back with his questions as to why they refused to work together. Looking to his side he saw Akutagawa’s usual black boots, there looked to be fresh stains on them. Even months later he could still pick out new stains and rips.
“What do you want Nakajima, "Akutagawa cut Atsushi off before he could speak.
“Geez,” Atsushi said looking over the ledge swing his legs, "not even gonna call me Jinko?”
Akutagawa said nothing, but Atsushi knew that Jinko had become a term of endearment. It would hurt too much to use it now, so he let out a sad laugh. He looked up at Akutagawa who was looking out over the city. The sun was much closer to setting now. Looking up at him now, he realized he was still in love with him. Looking at the moments that led up to this, he figured he’d never stopped loving him. He stood up and got off the ledge, he was a little surprised when Akutagawa followed. But when he stopped, Akutagawa walked by.
“If you don’t need something then I’ll leave. I have work.”
“Why can’t we just talk?”
At this Akutagawa stopped and turned to him. “Talk? What is there to talk about?! You didn’t want to talk after our fight, so why now!”
“I don’t know!” Atsushi yelled, grabbing at his chest as tears built up and fell, “I just– I don’t know! And I’m sorry! I’m sorry I could never stop thinking about you. I’m sorry that I kept wondering if you can still smell my scent in your bed sheets, like I do with yours in mine. I’m sorry I could never stop falling for you even though you’re not coming back.”
He fell to his knees sobbing, and Akutagawa just stood there in shock. In truth Gin had been the one to hear Atsushi’s voicemail. He’d been too busy mopping in his room like he had been for the past few months. She had dragged him to the bathroom and made him take a shower. And she probably wouldn’t be happy if she found out he stopped to kill someone. It did, after all, ruin some of her hard work.
Atsushi listened to Akutagawa’s footsteps coming closer and he curled in on himself. He didn’t think Akutagawa would kill him, or even hurt him, he just wanted to be alone. He hadn’t meant to vent to the object of his frustration. So, he was surprised when Akutagawa knelt beside him and rubbed his back.
“– if you want.”
“Huh?” Atsushi sniffled and looked up at Akutagawa.
“I said. We can try this again if you want.”
“Try–”Atsushi hiccupped and rubbed at his eyes, “try what again?”
Akutagawa smiled a bit and shook his head, “Us. I’m willing if you are.”
Atsushi let out a laugh crossed with a sob and lunged at Akutagawa. They fell back together and Atsushi burst out laughing. It didn’t take long for Akutagawa to join in on the laughter. So they lay there in the dark, beneath the moon light, laughing. Atsushi fell asleep not long after, exhausted from crying. Akutagawa, who was too tired to move, fell asleep with him.
Extra:
“Oh thank god!” Gin exclaimed floating nearby, she passed the binoculars to Kyouka.
“I thought they’d be mopping forever,” Kyouka said, passing the binoculars to Chuuya.
Dazai grabbed them before Chuuya could get them, “What the hell mackerel! Let me see!”
“Nope!”
“You piece of– “
Hiii, Nym! In your last post, you reblogged a delightful Fyozai tickle drabble (Hail our queen, Squiggles XD). First of all, Fyozai anon DID see the tags ^^.
I wanna share my Fyozai thoughts because I think you'd appreciate them (and I got no one else XD). I'm halfway between saying Fyo's a ler and a lee. Like, I think he'd *only* be a lee for Dazai but even then, it's him being a switch instead of a full-on lee and he'd never ask Dazai directly to be tickled. I absolutely cannot see Fyodor being a 100% lee or 100% ler. I'd all him a 50/50 switch or a 60 lee/40 ler kind of person. He'd be absolutely devious as a ler especially when it comes to finding his tickle victim's weakspot and teasing them, I mean just look at him XD. Buuut, he also looks hellishly (or heavenly XD) ticklish, like he'll jump if you poke him in the ribs. Also, the thought of him being able to pin Dazai down and keep him down is too freaking funny, I can't see it. I feel like in a tickle fight, those two would NEVER submit to roles of lee and ler, they're both fighting to wreck each other or at least try. Please, I need Fyozai, give me your thoughts on the Fyozai tiggly matter! I'm freaking abandoning Soukoku for this ship based on dynamics alone TwT. Also! Give me your thoughts on Fyodor and Dazai's worst spots in your humble opinion hehe-
So, I already shared most of my Fyodor-specific thoughts here, if you'd like to go take a look. But I do agree that he'd probably only be a lee for Dazai - maaaaybe Nikolai, maybe. But definitely no one else. I also think that he and Dazai fighting for dominance rather than just rolling over and taking it is a cute idea, though I wouldn't say they ALWAYS fight to win in that regard. I'm sure they just lay there and take it sometimes, especially Dazai. I've also mentioned in the past that I think it would be kind of fun for them to share a worst spot, which in my mind for both of them would be armpits.
That said, I really feel the need to mention at this point that I do not ship Fyozai. I'm a hardcore Soukoku person, and no amount of fun dynamics and banter between Dazai and Fyodor will make me change my mind. (I also don't really like Fyodor in general, I must admit.) So while I don't necessarily mind doing some Fyozai drabbles here and there, I do feel like I'm reaching the point of not enjoying the idea of them as much simply because ever since I opened up requests for Fyodor, that's almost all I've been getting, and it's kind of discouraging to me.
I have absolutely no problem with Fyozai shippers - you do you! If that's what makes you happy, then awesome! I love that for you. But for me, Soukoku reigns supreme. (Actually Shin Soukoku reigns supreme but we're talking about Dazai ships here, lol.)
All that to say, I'm really not the person to be fangirling about Fyozai with. I love that I seem approachable in that kind of way, but I can't share your enthusiasm about them - sorry. I hope you understand. <3 (Also I will still write the drabble request that I assume you sent in, but after that I might pump the brakes on Fyozai stuff for a bit.)
BSD college!AU headcanons pt.2
Tws: Mentions of breakdown, crying, scars, unhealthy relationships with food, mentions of starving oneself, mentions of slamming ones head against a wall
Pairings: Soukoku, Shin Soukoku, Poly decay (+Shibusawa), Steincraft, (for now) one sided Bram/Lovecraft, Ranpoe, maybe developing Perfect crime trio/Mystery trio, Montcott, Higugin, Kunikatai, mentioned Rimlaine, platonic!Fyozai? Idk?
Obviously thier mental health isn't as fucked up as in canon
---------------------------------------------------
Shibusawa has three big scars over the right side of his face from a horrible accident and he always covers them up with tons of make up since he is terribly embarrassed of them and hates them. A perfect appearance is very important to him. After all, he studies fashion design
When Fyodor accidentally saw him without make-up, he didn't say something about the scars at first but Shibusawa panicked and was afraid that Fyodor wouldn't like him as much anymore, especially because Fyodor liked beautiful people so much and he thought of himself with scars visible as kind of ugly so Fyodor gently grabbed his face and told him that he still loved him very much and that he still thought of him as beautiful.
He then kissed each scar and layed his forehead against Shibusawa's afterwards. He didn't forced him to tell what happend, he probably could guess it already but he urged him a bit to tell Nikolai and Sigma too
When he told them, both were kind of shocked at first, Sigma hugged him thight and reassured him too that they didn't liked him any lesser now only because of some scars
Nikolai kissed him and also reassured him. He also told him that he himself also had obviously a scar in his face which he never tired to hide and the others weren't bothered by it at all
He also jokingly said that he and Shibusawa matched now because both had scars in thier faces
Dazai and Fyodor may piss each other off sometimes but they get along really well
They are really similar and love to talk about anything
They really enjoy thier talks and one can often see them literally giggling about stupid shit which one of them said
Thier boyfriends know that they aren't cheating on them but they don't really understand thier weird bond
They shouldn't get complelty separated or else they will most likely secretly miss thier best friend
Fyodor and Dazai know each other since they were young teens
Bram's first love was Lovecraft. They met as teens back in Ireland in Bram's hometown but they never got together/had the guts to confess and lost contact after Lovecraft had to go back to America.
When they met each other after years again at this college they had a bittersweet reunion. Bram is now in a wheelchair, sleeps more than needed to escape reality and is still in love with Lovecraft and Lovecraft is in a happy relationship with Steinbeck.
Bram still has a special place in Lovecraft's heart tho since he was secretly Lovecraft's first love too.
Dazai actually goes to therapy
Higuchi and Gin are one of the power couples at college but it took a while for them to get together.
They got together after Higuchi stayed at her dorm for a week because she was experiencing a lot of bi-panic and serval existence crises after she found out that Gin was a girl and Akutagawa's sister.
Gin and Tachihara are best friends. She can rant to him about anything and he was her main emotional support when she was feeling heartbroken because Higuchi loved Akutagawa for a long time while Gin loved her but she always comforted Higuchi after Aku shoved her away again
Kunikida is the only one besides Chuuya with a actually healthy sleeping schedule to which he sticks but sometimes he is way too anxious about something to sleep, most likely because some professors put too much pressure on him and expect too much of him, so he randomly started cooking small meals in these nights to calm down
Katai often wakes up then (if he slept and wasn't gaming again), talks to Kunikida about what is going on in his mind, comforts him, eats with him and then gently drags him back to bed again
Chuuya and Dazai often visit Verlaine and Verlaine's husband Arthur on weekends
Verlaine despises Dazai but Arthur is very kind to Dazai and is always making sure that Chuuya and Dazai are both okay when they stay at thier home
Arthur gently asking Verlaine to give Dazai a chance and the fact that Verlaine only wants that his little brother is happy are probably the only reasons why Verlaine hasn't attempted to strangle Dazai yet
Louisa often visits Lucy in the coffee shop in her free time and Lucy always makes her her favorite coffee or hot chocolate for free.
Lucy has memorized how Louisa and Atushi like thier coffee and hot chocolate but she wouldn't openly admit this
Nikolai once played the role of an slightly insane and slightly lovesick clown and he did it so well that some professors were concerned for his mental health
Nikolai is in fact okay. He just can act really really well. It has always been his dream to be an actor even when he was still living in the ukrainian streets as a young kid and he works hard to achieve this dream
Fyodor and Dazai make weird bets regularly
Shibusawa has a kind of unhealthy relationship with food caused by his fashion major
When ever he has to model for a task he starts to eat lesser but his boyfriends don't have any of this shit and kindly force him to eat enough
Shibusawa is allowed to help the theatre students with thier costumes and costume designs after Nikolai introduced him to his friends there
Nikolai is the best actor out of all the students
Chuuya thought Akutagawa how to make a perfect eyeliner wing during one of thier band meetings
Atushi is normally very strict with himself when it comes to college stuff and always comes to the lectures but when Akutagawa got sick he called in sick too and stayed with him until he was better again
Whenever Karma comes over to Fyodor, Nikolai, Sigma and Shibusawa and is completely overwhelmed with a subject because he doesn't understand the topics for the upcoming class test, Fyodor will always help him to study and explain him everything. When he can't because he is packed with work himself the others will do thier best to help him
Sigma is very good at maths but not if the problem is split up in very small steps like in the elementary school books so he once despaired because of elementary school math problems.
Nikolai saw it, wanted to help, looked at the problem, internally despaired too but didn't wanted to admit it and then proceeded to tell Karma that maths isn't important in life, that a bad grade isn't something terrible and that he should just do what makes him happy instead of stupid maths which earned him a smack on the head from Fyodor
Shibusawa suffers from overwhelming boredom often and had a breakdown because of it once after it wouldn't fade away for days, leaving him bedridden, depressed, unmotivated but also desperate to do something
It took all his willpower not to repeatedly slam his head against the walls and cry
He just cried instead and rambled about it to Fyodor while the russian held him
Fyodor and a few others who play orchestra instruments sometimes play pieces for the plays of the theater students and he does it happily
Fyodor is one of the best of the cellists and he plays the cello which such elegance and passion and it looks so simple when he does it that Nikolai always watches him in awe and then proceeds to tell everyone that this man is one of his boyfriends
When Fyodor goes out, which happens rarely, he often listens to music over his headphones. The most think that the kind of creepy looking man who is way too intelligent and seems to know everything only listen to dark classical music but that actually isn't true
Yes he mainly listens to classical music but he actually also often listens to Russian rock (often from the late 80s), the favorite songs of his boyfriends which include Lady Gaga songs, Vegas from Doja cat, IAMX songs and Disney songs and he also listenes to the ratatouille soundtrack regularly
Dazai and Fyodor are both in the chess club but only play against each other since the others don't want to play with them
Nikolai once visited them, played against a student, ate chess pieces and cheated because he had serval chess pieces in his sleeve which he kept placing on the board when the other wasnt looking and left again randomly
He is actually good at chess tho
Ranpo had a hard time figuring out if he liked Mushitaro romantically just like he loved Poe or if he was just very fond of him as a friend
He was acting like a complete moron in this time because he was so deep in thought all the time
hi hella i hope you’re doing fine because i know i’m not and it’s YOUR fault. let me explain.
okay i have an exam this week and my fucked up brain decided to start bungou stray dogs (i’m currently reading the manga. pray for me) because APPARENTLY when i run out of things to watch i turn into ‘what hella said was watching?’ and start whatever shit you talk about on your silly little blog. this happened A LOT in the past (i did not forgive you for banana fish). it’s not really your fault i’m neglecting my academic studies to watch gay people but i have to put the blame on someone????? i can’t blame my own idiocy???? ANYWAY. i’m writing this ask not to complain to you about my brain but because i want to know your opinion on something, cause i trust your judgment. genuinely curious: what do you think about akutagawa and shin soukoku????
hope you have a great *insert the time you’ll read this ask* !!!! <3
BESTIE IM SO SORRY SDKGJHSDKJGHDKJSGH but also CHUUYA NAKAHARA like there really is nothing better than that you have absolutely made a good call here
im guessing you're asking about my thoughts on akutagawa and ssk separately and not one in regards to the other? i absolutely ADORE akutagawa like he's sooooooooo funny 'i dont remember introducing myself as mute' KING SHIT but also on a more serious note he makes me sooooooo sad and it only gets worse the more of the manga you read. i can really see some solid foundations for a redemption (mind 'redemption' means in regards to bsd where very few characters come close to actually morally good so yk. pinch of salt) and i just think if dazai got his happy ending the akutagawa should too. there's a whole cycle of abuse in bsd that goes mori -> dazai -> akutagawa -> kyouka and out of ALL OF THEM kyouka was the only one to break away from it, but AKUTAGAWA was the only one to show some sort of humanity. even dazai only complimented akutagawa because he was kinda pushed into it by atsushi, whereas akutagawa UNPROMPTED with ZERO GOOD ROLE MODELS told kyouka that he was proud of her. he's still incredibly young and he was brought into this world when he was even younger and he's very much a 'i excuse his heinous crimes' character bc he was cool while he did it. i just want him to be hugged :(
so yes im a BIG shin soukoku shipper because i love akutagawa but i also love love LOVE atsushi, and i just think them paired together works so surprisingly well. initially it was the classic 'light/dark, sunshiney one/grumpy one' etc, but it's actually more than that. atsushi, someone usually so kind to the point of being a bit of a pushover, never hesitates to snap up Thee Port Mafia's Hellhound. like they argue with each other! and it's so important both for akutagawa, who doesnt really have anyone keeping him in check let alone even ATTEMPTING to enforce a moral code, and also atsushi, who seems to only defend himself so shamelessly, so instinctively, when it comes to akutagawa. they're on complete level playing fields for the first time in their lives and they make each other stronger and they're each other's greatest fear and worst enemy and other half and it's a love story told twice before and certainly will be told again and maybe one day, one day it wont have such a tragic ending
For the prompts, can I request Shin Soukoku angst (Atsushi dying in Akutagawa's arms)? Maybe a bit shippy but not necessary? Thank you!
Thank you for the request! I did make it shippy, and also very sad. I hope you enjoy (or not because it’s angst)
⚠️TW: DEATH, EXPLOSIONS, TERRORISM, VOMIT, POISON, JUST VERY ANGSTY WITH NO HAPPY ENDING!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED⚠️
The battle was long and exhausting. The port mafia and armed detective agency had to unite forces. After months of combat, strategizing, and hundreds of innocent lives lost, it all came down to this one fight.
The infamous New Double Black was tasked with taking down the head of the recently formed terrorist organization. It was just supposed to be a simple fight, just apprehend the guy, disable any bombs, get out. The terrorist, realizing that he’s lost, decided to end his own life. Blowing up his own laboratory. By all accounts, it seemed like the battle was over, Akutagawa and Atsushi quietly made their way back to the agency…little did they know, one of them wasn’t coming home.
Atsushi Nakajima had many injuries from the explosion, Akutagawa did too. But he noticed Atsushi was looking paler than normal, his eyes were sinking in, and each step seemed more sluggish than the last. Akutagawa thought that was just from the traumatic episode, he grew up seeing death but he knew Atsushi was still relatively new to the experience. However, when Atsushi collapsed on the ground puking, he knew something else was wrong.
He took Atsushi in his arms and frantically asked, “weretiger, we’re you poisoned!?!”
“N-no, I don’t think so.”
“Did you feel something stab you? A knife, a syringe, anything?”
“A piece of shrapnel got in my leg, but I pulled it out and healed it.”
Akutagawa grabbed Atsushi’s leg, the area around where the shrapnel hit was a discolored green and purple.
“Ryu-“
“We need to get back. Now.”
Akutagawa tried to pick Atsushi up, but he couldn’t. His sickly body was unable to carry him. Atsushi was shivering on the ground, puking again, eyes streaked with tears at the realization of what was happening. Akutagawa was calling mafia HQ, trying to find anyone to help. Unfortunately they were all busy, fighting, repairing, defending, doing anything they could to keep the city alive. He tried thinking of something, anything he could do to help. He then felt a hand weakly hold his. Atsushi tried to say something but was met with more vomit and gasps for air. All he could do was make eye contact, a wordless conversation exchanged.
‘Please stay, I’m scared.’
Akutagawa realized there was only one thing he could do. He wrapped Atsushi in his jacket, “I want you protected where you’re going.”
He pulled his partner close, kissed his forehead, and whispered in his ear.
“I won’t be far behind you, wait for me weretiger.”
He got no response. Not even a shiver.
“Weretiger…”
“Weretiger…”
“ATSUSHI!!!”
