So it’s not Mytho and it’s not Fakir, it’s another, third option. So she really is just a victim of the week here, she isn’t really entering the story other than to drop some facts about Fakir’s gifts and be brainwashed by Mytho.

I find that weirdly disappointing for reasons I can’t put a finger on. This is a Victim of the Week show, it just is, and that was very common at the time it was being made, and while I’m glad that seems less of a requirement than it used to, I am aware that you got to dance with them what brung you, and so it really SHOULDN’T bother me.

And yet, it DOES. I don’t know if it’s because they’ve made her out to have been so close to Mytho and Fakir only to have her be this ship that is just going to pass in the night, or what, but for some reason HER status as simply a character that will come in, be possessed, cured, and forgotten, bothers me so much more than the others.

What made you ship it? - I think it's how strong the narrative is that the four just naturally group together. Even if I wanted to do it as just two separate ships, I'd be at least a little hard-pressed to pick which pairs and the four would still be hanging around each other. Also Duck is just like the biggest factor of all this to me going in both directions. (Duck loves all of them so much <- -> All of them love Duck so much)

What are your favorite things about the ship? - How supportive Duck is about parts of it that don't concern her. In canon we saw how perfect she thought Rue and Mytho were together even while she was hella crushing on him. And once she understood more about Fakir, she realized that while he was causing Mytho harm it had originally stemmed from a genuine desire to protect him.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? - While I know it's a popular headcanon that Fakir and Rue are siblings, I don't much care for that because I like Fakir/Rue as a petty frenemies ship.

So I never watched all of OHSHC, BUT I did read the original run of the manga like a decade ago, so I can still sorta weigh in on this! And for Kyoya/Haruhi: Don't Ship It! (But only barely)

Why don’t you ship it? - I think it's maybe they're at times too alike for a ship to work? Not strictly "they're the same" but I mean more like how either one of them can easily switch out to play the straight man against Tamaki's comic relief.

What would have made you like it? - I honestly don't remember much of the dynamic between them except for That One Infamous Scene, and while that scene was not a deal breaker for me, I would have liked to see more interaction between them to get on board. Then I would have more memory of their differences as characters. I seem to remember Haruhi interacting more with the Hitachiin twins in general when it comes to shippy stuff that's not Haruhi/Tamaki. Maybe it's just foggy memory, or maybe it's difference in manga and anime adaptation.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it? - There's always something to be said for a pair of characters that can just sigh together about Tamaki's antics. Granted, sometimes that can be the entire club, but still.

honestly like idc idc i guess ppl are just like “uhh mytho’s got nothing going on b/c he has no feelings!!” like Yeah Correct, that’s a premise / inciting factor for this series and everything everyone’s doing lol, it’s only Boring if you don’t think about the character at all lmfao which i guess some ppl don’t, but like, there’s only 4 of them.....it’s Wildly Interesting that he literally has no feelings at first, like, for one thing it’s cool how there’s always the Idea of characters who don’t have emotions or act on them, but this is like the rare “realistic” situation where having no feelings means he needs someone to steer him around and make choices for him (and how Vulnerable that leaves him lmfao like episode 2 is wild but also that ppl just haven’t really realized that they Could just pick mytho up and pitch him into a wall, and fakir and rue are sort of careful neutral alliance keeping tabs on him) and you know, the whole s1 structure of mytho regaining both Capacity For / Experience of An Emotion and his sense of identity and by extent of all this his agency, and how like, Thematic everything surrounding this character is that’s reflected in the overall series like. trying to control someone for your own benefit vs being willing to sacrifice your own interests (and then some...) for their freedom & the Protecting Someone (And/Or Wanting To) As A Love Language that all the characters show for each other at various points & hope vs despair.......and like No Shit he’s dispassionate & passive b/c he can’t Feel Feelings & resultantly can’t make decisions or feel motivations but obviously he’s still Motivating other characters to act on his behalf, & there’s so much mystery & drama already in “yeah this guy you think is just a neat handsome guy is also an actual prince from a story who’s Real & sacrificed his heart in the fight with an evil giant raven monster that eats people & so he can’t feel anything or remember who he is” like damn!!! epic of him even if right now he can’t do much of anything on his own. i’m interested, and then i’m Interested every time in the Drama & Mystery of this person regaining parts of himself and completely rediscovering An Emotional Experience and how that is totally recontextualizing his entire existence for him.....

plus also even though “person literally lost heart via magic and doesn’t know what Feeling Things is” isn’t a We’ve All Been There situation i was like oh and you know it’s not like what mytho’s got going on isn’t potentially Relatable....can get into a side essay about dapressione and trauma and other types of stuff that can make it seem like someone can’t/shouldn’t have full access to their feelings / self / agency &/or it’s Dangerous if they try.....whew

but continuing on YEAH ugh just completely fascinated with mytho the Entire Time actually lol like, i’ve tended to lose steam in early s2 b/c he’s sort of Less involved beyond the [hehe time to cause some trouble in this particular ep] role lol but even so it’s like well it’s kinda fun when at least somebody’s being a bitch who lives for drama lmfaooooo & we get mytho Struggling Internally & sometimes punching through that way but again it’s like yeah oops the guy was basically autonomous but zwoop here’s a problem where that doesn’t mean shit anymore lol b/c he’s got this alternate evil self steering the ship all the time now lol got em.....the Peak of that i guess is where we get to have an epic swordfight between raven!mytho and fakir like you know what fuck yes!!! the intrinsic drama of that lmfao!!!! and then it’s like “oh no :/ loving the drama? that’s just what drosselmeyer wants” except Not b/c actually what makes it totally rule is that it’s this chance for Real Mytho to come through for the sake of protecting fakir (tbt “i wonder what i think of you, fakir”...) and really like that being what prompts fakir’s “you know what, even though before i was afraid my role as a knight would kill Me and i’m afraid my coincidental(?) role as a guy who can Reality Write could kill Anyone Else, i gotta try b/c that’s the only thing i could possibly do here and i want to try protecting everyone else b/c everyone else including mytho is protecting Me” and like augh everyone is so Thoughtful about how to try to help mytho out even as like, they can’t hardly interact with him or undo the situation lol.....as you’re getting into the series finale and everyone’s just outright Voicing things and you get “i/we want to protect mytho” like 32x and it’s beautiful each time ;___; like and well sorry but him & his heart/lack of are also the heart of the whole story here.....

and you know what *i* want to protect mytho, sympathizing with all the characters like fuck yes you’re so right, this guy rules, episode 6 aka The Fear Episode is SO good, like, you’ve gotten kinda used to the episodic format here, ep 5 did sure also make it obvious that things are Building on what’s happening prior here & that there’s stakes and stuff but it’s such a shakeup, like, that maybe just kinda sneakily dipping in and out of the arena giving back a piece of his heart until it’s done with, no problem, Isn’t Gonna Happen, and again, the Drama of it all......that the heart shards are yeah kind of their own People who are these fractions of mytho’s self and the way you interact with them is gonna like, affect things, since tutu didn’t like “resolve” things with that heart shard and just kinda got him on a technicality there lmfao so it’s like, yeah not only does mytho have a more general / abstract cause to be afraid of tutu & her bringing all these Unknowns & completely new things to him / changing things up and apparently introducing conflict, but you’ve gone and gotten his capacity for fear all recently riled up and specifically afraid of his interaction with You from 5 sec ago, and how could anyone know this mysterious magical being giving you Negative Feelings is like, Safe......and i’m sure it’s all compounding here, like, it’s Wild to be suddenly experiencing A Feeling for the (seeming) first time, and that in itself sure could be Scary, he just hasn’t had the proper emotion available with with to Be Afraid, now he’s gotten back a freshly stoked (capacity for) Fear and how off the shits it must be to be afraid for the first time anyways, or to be feeling the other stuff for the first time, and who knows what Unfun Feelings could come next, there’s a lot to freak out about.......and not like it’s trying That hard to never suggest like oh fakir's not that bad even though he’s technically an antagonist at the start b/c of being at odds with / against the protagonist, it’s pretty telling there lol like he’s unhappy with mytho having feelings again at all and has already been getting mad about it but is just being Helpful here and trying to comfort him, like aw that’s neat i think it’s nice, and again throwing it back to “I Wonder What I Think Of You, Fakir” you get fakir reassuring mytho that nobody but him is around, and mytho having this capacity for Fear is choosing to confide in fakir re: what he’s dealing with here (not that this would on it’s own be some guarantee that mytho’s Right to be unafraid of fakir, but, knowing all we eventually know...) like again lol it’s funny that drosselmeyer’s loving the Drama of mytho only having regained Negative Feelings like, i mean i’m soaking it in as well but it’s like, that guy’s all about Angst and it’s like no im here all about the Hurt/Comfort more like, thank you lmfao

it’s also SO good how it’s like, the next episode is turning around & giving the story a way forward not by like, oh let’s just counteract this Fear mytho’s struggling with by returning the....emotion of Courage i guess, but rather by giving him back Curiosity to ultimately lead to him actually seeking a conversation with tutu.......and it’s like AUGH it’s soooo fun that he goes to that river and has a conversation with his own heart shard lmfao like that’s you!!! and that You does not realize you’re them!!! that’s wild and i love it......wait i took low res screenshots when i rewatched this a few weeks ago lmfao

i Love it lmfao like it’s Such a good choice to have him not only have lost his Emotions but also memories / knowledge of who he, himself, even is.....like yeah man it was all on you to fight this heart eating raven monster!!!!!!!!! which you know, it’s also Fun that earlier in that episode when he and fakir are hanging out in the secret Problems Mill (which....fakir is hilarious like that lmfao. whole other tangent here like ppl are not only rolling with Animals As People but stuff like “yeah fakir might just be like ‘oops gotta go!’ and whisk mytho away to various out of the way Locations” like lmfao these teens have some free rein, but it’s nothing compared to s2 where it’s like “They Were Roommates but ig fakir tried to kill mytho who’s now being really dramatic and weird which is v different from before and maybe he’s in love with that one random dude who’s around now, which sucks for everyone else, oops now he’s just like Vanishing for god knows how long at a time it’s fine!!!!” lmfao like god. ballet school just is like that sometimes...) anyways Yeah that mytho’s been having nightmares about the raven and fakir is just going like IT’S FINE JUST DON’T THINK ABOUT IT lol and knowing fakir is also being pretty driven / restricted by fear, reasonably, as he thinks (well. and is correct) that he’s The Knight and his fate is literally written as “yeah if the story gets going and you’re a part of it you’ll just be killed” like yeah, oof......Wonder What I Think Of You Fakir like yeah AND he is that knight you actually did know who was suddenly killed trying to protect you and he’s sorta accepted that role again except he’s not really a fan of that Being Killed thing so here we’re having some issues in his misguided approach here re: Mytho Should Not Get His Heart Back, but he’s also trying to protect them Both from the story, and he’s only So Willing to act Against mytho, like, well hey thanks for apologizing after you hit him and then like, not doing that anymore lol, v reasonable how he’s struggling here lol where he’s trying to Protect mytho but the story a) wants to invite tragedy and b) has already said that The Knight has been / will be killed and can’t actually protect the prince within the story, also c) he’s just like one random high school guy out here......and also that it must just be kinda hard to adapt to this changing situation where mytho Is regaining this sense of self and motivation, but for like the past decade or whatever he Has needed fakir to just be in charge and tell him what to do all the time and, if he had the sense of what it was to trust someone, trust fakir to just always be acting in his best interest, but then mytho’s idea of his own best interest a) starts to Exist and b) is at odds w/fakir’s b/c also c) he doesn’t have All his feelings yet, Or all his memories, while fakir is like “noooo i know the story”.....like there was never any need to just like tell him he sucks at random times lol but it’s also kind of funny that’s just part of fakir’s shtick, calling mytho a dumbass one more time when he’s just fully himself as The Prince again lmfaooo. but prior to that, surely fakir could wonder what mytho thinks of him (or potentially Could think of him) too.......it’s just soooo good when mytho is like, expressing things verbally while trying to work through / figure out Feelings and even ones that he doesn’t have back yet, and it’s always fun how that inevitably throws off whatever character he’s musing about this to......including whenever ahiru’s just like “oh fuck yes he can do this b/c he has more feelings back now, that rules” and/or “aw :( he’s struggling w/this b/c he only has Some of his heart back”

and also that reminds me it’s SO good when the characters just kinda get to Do Something together lmfao like. ahiru and rue hanging out when looking for mytho that one time, iconic stuff, mytho and ahiru hanging out in the previous episode, iconic, maybe it kills me that in the first ep of s2 you have mytho saying ahiru’s his friend and the only person he feels like he can tell anything (and ahiru feeling bad she hasn’t Told Him Everything lol) and then he basically never gets to interact with her again knowing and as himself like Scream it’s fine ;v; !!!!!! let these people spend more than 3 seconds together Interacting lmfao it’s soooo good when they do :’0

and THEN you get into how there’s all this stuff re: The Story, like, fakir is the reincarnated knight, ahiru is the duck given tutu’s abilities Via a piece of mytho’s heart, but we had the original knight and tutu in the story as these actual ppl who we only hear a Little bit of lore about, but mytho actually knew / knows, and like, the original genesis for tutu only being on 1 Page of the story and apparently drosselmeyer doesn’t even really put any thought into what her motivations could be lol like yeah idk whatever she wants to marry the prince or whatever so that’s why she loves him and Says It and disappears......and like we have almost No direct info about her but uh nbd at least some of her actual essence is actually now an intrinsic part of mytho’s actual heart and specifically embedded in the heart shard of Hope, like damn!!!! you Know there was something more Real and Complex going on there and i love it so much.......and the original Knight, lohengrin.....might have been doomed to be unable to protect mytho with his sword, but there’s other ways to protect that guy and Someone needed to be doing it.......i’m just like wow mytho’s gf and bf!!!! and they both sort of died but hey. there’s still a lot to think about

so yeah lmfao love that you can originally see this series like, a decade ago and here it is like damn still lying down / yelling / generally riled up about mytho and just having So Much to think about / appreciate from this series like. it’s so Singular and has so much going on.......cherish it and i’m just still anytime like [epcot vine voice] Mytho...........

why is your favorite trope friends to enemies to lovers? Shows up both with Jacob/Duncan and the reincarnation au lol

LOL, is it really my favorite trope? I had no idea! 😂 

I think based on the Jacob/Duncan and the modern!Batticus comparisons, you meant “enemies to friends to lovers” -- even though, really, I don’t think I’d say Bat and Grim were ever enemies,  exactly, Grim just had a one-sided rivalry with Bat’s BFF Barty...and even in Jacob/Duncan’s case, it was more short-lived smolders of one-sided resentment on Ashe’s side than anything. 

But as to why those couples go through an evolution from being on not-so-good-terms to being friends to falling in love, I think what it really comes down to for me is that 1, I like contrasting couples, and 2, I prefer romantic relationships that start as friends first. Even the ships I get passionate about that don’t actively fight and banter usually have some element of contrast, where one side has flaws and strengths that compliment and counteract the other’s. Some examples of couples I really enjoy include:

Ron/Hermione (Harry Potter) ~ Definitely got plenty of bickering here, but yeah, besides that, Ron is the more common-sense- and action-oriented of the two, while Hermione is more methodical and bookish. 

Remus/Sirius (Harry Potter) ~ No real bickering in the actual books (fanfiction tends to write them more tempestuously), but Remus is the calming, soothing influence to Sirius’s wild, reckless emotions. 

Eliza/Goliath (Gargoyles) ~ Almost never bicker, but Eliza is a sometimes judgmental, but kind police detective working inside the law, while Goliath is an open-minded, but sometimes vengeful vigilante working outside of it. 

Elizabeth/Mr. Darcy (Pride and Prejudice) ~ The quintessential example of bantering romance, but still -- Elizabeth is sociable and hot-blooded, while Darcy is quiet and cool. 

Fakir/Ahiru (Princess Tutu) ~ Quasi-enemies to start with, but only because they approach wanting to protect their “prince,” Mytho, in completely different ways -- once they come together to achieve that goal, they’re more likely to both bicker like a married couple and support each other when times get hard, which is helped out by Ahiru being this klutzy, awkward ray of sunshine and Fakir being this intelligent, tight-ass anti-hero with a heart of gold. 

Mytho/Rue (Princess Tutu) ~ Enemies only because of the roles they play in “the story” written by the magical Storyteller Drosselmeyer -- in truth, neither of them sees each other as an enemy, and the fights they get into are actually very drama-heavy rather than it being just about them having opposite personalities. Though of course Mytho is a Prince Who Loves and is Loved by Everyone and Rue is this slightly arrogant, but sophisticated and devoted prima ballerina who longs for unconditional love. 

Tiana/Naveen (The Princess and the Frog) ~ Opposites in every way, and they bicker enough in the beginning to make it obvious, with Tiana being an ambitious, ridiculously driven stick-in-the-mud and Naveen being a spoiled, devil-may-care playboy. 

And yeah, even looking at the ships with my MC’s, one can see an “opposite” theme running through them.

Carewyn/Orion ~ Carewyn is an organized planner who takes the burden of the whole world on her shoulders. Orion is a philosophical free spirit who prefers to detach from the world and live free of anyone else’s expectations. 

Jacob/Ashe~ Jacob is a hot-tempered, eccentric, book-smart, people-dumb spaceman. Ashe is a cool, ambitious, cynical, emotionally intelligent tsundere. 

Erik/Roxy @mira-shard ~ Erik is a foul-mouthed, logical, ill-tempered warrior-type. Roxy is a compassionate, emotional, patient healer-type. 

Ana/Charlie @drinkyoursoupbitch ~ Ana is an introverted, mistrustful writer with a talent for History of Magic and wizard dueling. Charlie is an extroverted, trusting dragonologist with a talent for magical creatures and flying. 

Jackson/Monty @cursebreakerfarrier ~ Jackson is a melodramatic, flashy showman. Monty is a quiet, intellectual scholar. 

Bat/Grim @cursebreakerfarrier ~ Bat is an academic Muggle-born soldier who prefers to screw the rules and has no interest in public approval. Grim is a by-the-books professor and veteran of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement who strongly believes in doing things “the right way” and, when he was younger, was very focused on fulfilling his father’s high expectations for him. 

Ru/Estrid @thatravenpuffwitch ~ Ru is a wild, rude, eccentric Kelpie who pretty consistently gives the middle finger to all sorts of propriety or societal expectations. Estrid is a quiet, independent, compassionate witch who initially binds Ru to her just to keep them from hurting people. 

Perhaps because I’m on the asexual spectrum, I don’t really find as much joy out of the “enemies to lovers” trope, because for me, love should be built on friendship first. To me, one should like someone solely as an individual and as an equal before nurturing romantic feelings for them, and the word “enemies” insinuates that one can’t really like the person, since the two people would have to be on opposite sides of some sort of moral dilemma. It’s why even a ship like Zuko/Katara from Avatar makes more sense to me than one like Rey/Kylo from the new Star Wars films, even if I personally don’t ship either. (If you like either or both, that’s fine, though! Different strokes!) But yeah, I still find myself really enjoying it when two different people realize that they have a lot more in common than they thought and -- through their interactions with each other -- end up becoming more complete people. :)

Let’s Take a Trip...

So lately I’ve gotten on this nostalgia kick, especially when it come to anime.  I can’t say that I’ve outgrown anime, but I can say that some time around 2009 it started becoming less and less of a major part of my life.

But for the past week or so I’ve had a real desire to revisit some of my old favorites.  So come with me and you’ll see a world of imagination...

(Be aware I will be posting spoilers for these series since this is just random thoughts and musings upon re-watching.)

Princess Tutu

Okay, bear with me.  It looks like a really cutesy anime AND IT IS!!  It’s a magical girl where a duck (yes an actual duck) receives a special pendant and is not only able to become a girl, but transforms into a prima ballerina named Princess Tutu.  Why you may ask?  Because she saw Mytho, a mysterious and handsome boy whose eyes “look so lonesome” and wants to give him back his smile.

Why do I love this anime, even to this day?

BECAUSE OF THESE TWO MOTHERFUCKERS RIGHT HERE!!!!!

Fakiru is my OTP to end all OTPs.  This is the hill I will die on, end point.  And trust me, it was a journey to get there.  Fakir is a dick at the beginning of the series with a capital D.  But he also realizes that he’s abusive and it hurts the people he loves the most, so not only does he stop, but he also changes his behavior and Duck is a big part of that.  This whole series is a balm to my shipper heart, THOUGH WE WERE ROBBED OF A THIRD SEASON!!

Kaleido Star: New Wings

Cirque du Soleil but anime.  Fun fact: I’ve never seen the first season and I have no plans to.  The first two episodes of the second season do a great job of summarizing season one and from that assessment, I have concluded that I don’t want to watch it.  Layla would piss me the fuck off, and there are times when Sora’s optimism makes my teeth hurt, but I love this series.  It’s so pretty and the stunts are ridiculous by real world standards but you can’t help but be amazed by them regardless.  It is delightful!!

Also...

My shipper heart has clearly been ruling my viewing choices for a while since I love my rare pair, Sora x Leon!!  Leon has a redemption arc in this series too (not quite as satisfying as Fakir but we can’t win them all), and Sora has a big hand in it.  (People will say that Leon views her an awful lot in relation to Sophie, his sister and yeah he kind of does, but considering how many of y’all on here are all about that ‘daddy’ horseshit, you can just bibbity bobbity back the fuck up off my dick on this one.)  Anyway, still ship it!!

Tiger & Bunny

Yup, this one still stands up!!  Sponsored heroes saving the city to rack up points, what’s not to love?!  And the computer generation...not great but it still stands up pretty well.  (Also, would I still fuck with Bunny...yeah.  Yeah I would.  Like, it sure is gay, but I’d still fuck with Bunny.)  Apparently, they’re coming out with season 2 in 2022 for some reason, so there’s that to look forward to.  Never saw the movie.  I might.  There’s apparently great character development for Fire Emblem.

Also, can I just say...

Name me a more stressful week during any anime, I dare you.  I remember refreshing my page when episode 25 came out because I JUST NEEDED TO KNOW!!!

Oban Star Racers

God, this...This is 2006-07 guys.  My age is showing.  It aired on Jetix/Disney XD.  Intergalactic space race, literally.  But it still holds up.  The animation AND the computer animation.  It still looks so good.  Great characters, good story.  Just...do yourselves a favor and check it out.  

It’s also made me go back and re-read my old fanfiction.  It’s not great though there are some good parts to it.  It makes me want to re-write it.  I probably will.  I definitely will, this time much better and less OOC.  And I don’t have to give a rat’s ass about Mary Sues!!!

(Also, DEFINITELY still fucks with that.  I thought I wouldn’t, but a re-watch fuckin’ proved me wrong!!  And I mean Rick Thunderbolt you weird perverts!)

I have like a thousand AUs for bnha x princess tutu alkfalk the fact of the matter is that they ALL have tododeku in SOME way. 

The original AU with @ladysunami is that Izuku is Mytho and Shouto is Rue. k*tsuki takes Fakir’s place and Ochako is Duck. Also endeav*r is the Raven Monster and All For One is Drosselmeyer. Eri is Uzura. 

Next AU, Izuku and Shouto remain in their places as Mytho and Rue, respectively, but in this one, Tenya takes Fakir’s place and Ochako is Duck. We get iichako and also Tenya takes his place as the knight he canonically is (thanks 3rd ED). 

This AU is like the same as #2 except instead Shouto is Mytho and Izuku is Rue, All For One is the Raven. @senja-dusk and I have this AU, it’s so good. 

Next AU, Shouto is Mytho and Izuku is Rue, and Momo takes Fakir’s place. Ochako is Duck. We get momochako rights because I say so and Momo is the knight she is meant to be (thanks Prince & Prince). 

Alternatively, this AU is the same as #4 except Izuku is Mytho and Shouto is Rue. I just want Momo as the Knight. She gets to have her long sword OOF. 

This AU, we came up with it in the kinkan town discord and it’s Izuku as Mytho, Shouto as Rue, Ochako as Duck, and Hitoshi as Fakir and I REALLY REALLY LIKE THIS ONE (I think this one and #2 are my favorites). In this one, also Aizawa is Charon (Fakir’s adoptive father), and because Eri is Uzura, we have the three in one spot and it’s fantastic, honestly 10/10. Also shinchako rights because I love that ship, too alfkjaf. 

This next one, this is one that I have with @red-white-n-daddyissues where Shouto is Fakir and Izuku is Duck and God, it’s so SOFT. It’s so GOOD. Very self-indulgent and I am weak. Don’t ask me who take Mytho and Rue’s places, I haven’t thought about it yet. 

This one, I have it with @tododeku-or-bust and Izuku is Fakir and Shouto is Duck. Because I can honestly see Izuku being super chivalrous and also gets flustered like crazy (looking at @ Fakir who blushes like 4 shades of red around Duck alfkjalfka). Both of them are also Green Boys. I know Izuku is Not A Jerk like Fakir, but my city. Also Shouto in ballet clothes, he’s got very toned legs and he’d look very cute okay. Again no idea who Mytho and Rue are, haven’t thought that far yet. Eri is still Uzura (she is Uzura throughout every AU, that never changes because they are Babies). 

These are very tododeku centric tbh. It appeals to my every interest.

I knew Fakir/Mytho wasn’t gonna happen but it still hurt, shipping crack ships while I still watch something is trash, -1/10 wouldn’t do again.

Mytho/Ahiru was just really a shock for me tbh. idk why, everything pointed against it, I was just blind apparantly.

Ahiru x Fakir/Mytho x Rue: Ok this is a tie since I wasn’t originally into them at the start of Princess Tutu, but man oh man, I was totally on board by the end rofl. The first half is my ray of sunshine duck girl and her moody, brooding knight who warms up to all the LOVEEE she has to offer and then promises to stay by her side forever!!! And for second half, well in dealing with the series’ themes of fate, free will, and all that jazz, like...just bruh. Mytho actively chooses to love her after she’s literally been told that nobody ever would for pretty much her whole life. And idk man, that’s the kind of stuff that hits me right in the feels. [Close runner-up would be Ahiru x Rue tho cuz idk man that shit is also cute AF]. 

Adam Parrish x Ronan Lynch (Pynch): I mean...don’t we all sometimes wish to be one, doe-eyed Bambi boy with a magical farmer boyfriend who’d pay our rent, serenade us with Latin poetry and dream up sentient forests that feel like home? No? Ok I guess it’s just me then. 

Lan Xichen x Nie Mingjue (Nielan): Ah, the embodiment of my two visual shorthand representations seen above. Childhood friends? Check. Battle couple? Check. Fellow sect leaders with a shared history who are also each other’s rare equals? Check. Recognize and appreciate each other’s strengths which conveniently happen to be complimentary to their complete opposite personalities? Check. Consistently being soft ONLY for the other half? Currently Reading: Ahhh I took a staycation but I’m back to work by this Friday. And let’s see...on my to-read list is Tracy Deonn’s Legendborn (King Arthur meets Shadowhunters set in the Deep South), Chloe Gong’s These Violent Delights (a Romeo x Juliet historical fantasy retelling set in 1920s Shanghai), and Rebel Sisters by Tochi Onyebuchi (book 2 in a series that’s basically Gundam set in futuristic Nigeria). But in terms of reading for fun, I’ve started Kacen Callender’s Queen of the Conquered, a Caribbean-inspired fantasy about a ruthless young noblewoman wreaking vengeance against the royals who assassinated her family and enslaved her people. Also at any given moment, I have anywhere from 10-15+ A03 tabs open at the same time. Don’t @ me. 

Food I’m Craving: Oh God, so, SO much. I run a side food blog which I. have. not. updated. in. months ( ╬` 益 ´)!!! But honestly I would like shank a man to be able to consume any kind of Korean BBQ right now. who is your favourite character in 2? Lois Lane. Followed closely by Clark Kent. But Lois is just amazing. :D

who is your least favourite character in 1? I’m not sure, I’m going to say Ahiru, but I love the main four a lot.  Misread this one! I thought it said favorite. For least favorite, I will go with Anteaterina. 

what is your favourite episode of 4? Probably the episode where Seaburn and Alex met each other and realized they were both catfishing the other. Their reactions were great. 

what is your favourite season of 5? I liked all the seasons, but five might be my favorite just because it gave me closure and an ending. :D

who is your favourite couple in 3? I don’t have too many ships for TNG, but my favorite is probably Worf/Deanna, which they TEASED me with in season 7, but it was NEVER REAL. I’m not bitter, clearly.  

who is your favourite couple in 2? Clois, no question. 

what is your favourite episode of 1? The finale is so good! We get the underwater Pas De Deux with Fakiru, we get Mytho fighting the Raven for Rue and the rest of the town, we have Fakir literally stabbing himself to stop writing Ahiru’s death. It’s intense, y’all. 

what is your favourite episode of 5? It’s been a while since I watched it, so I don’t know about favorite, but I loved the episode where Tom wakes up in his old life and the invasion never happened. I love stuff like that, and it’s great to see him figure it out and how everyone fits into the illusion. 

what is your favourite season of 2? Definitely 10. I’m really here for Clois stuff and that’s where we get established relationship Clois where she knows his identity.

how long have you watched 1? I watched it for the first time back in high school, so it’s been a while since I first saw it, but I’ve rewatched several times. 

how did you become interested in 3? My parents watched it when I was a kid, and I finally sat down and watched through the whole thing a year or so ago. 

who is your favourite actor in 4? Joey was definitely my favorite, which surprised me a little, although I loved a lot of the contestants. 

which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5? I love all of them, but I’m going to have to go with Smallville. Because Clois. :D

which show have you seen more episodes of, 1 or 3? TNG, but only because it has more episodes than Princess Tutu. 

if you could be anyone from 4, who would you be? I’d want to be the host, Michelle, I think. She’s super snarky and it’s fun. 

would a crossover between 3 and 4 work? I scrolled back up to remind myself what shows those were and burst out laughing. I can see maybe an episode where something goes awry on the holodeck and puts the crew in a situation like The Circle, where they’re stuck away from each other. Hmmmm.... That might work. 

pair two characters in 1. who would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple? I ultimately ship the main two couples, Fakir/Ahiru and Mytho/Rue, but I do also love the idea of Rue/Ahiru. Or Fakir/Rue. That would be a trainwreck and I would be here for every dysfunctional minute. 

overall, which show has the better storyline, 3 or 5? Well, TNG is pretty episodic, while Falling Skies has an overall story arc, so I guess Falling Skies? 

which has better theme music, 2 or 4? Smallville. Hands down. SOMEBODY SAAAAAVVVVVEEE MEEEEEE.

i don’t… really like mytho/ahiru very much i guess. i think i have a hard time wrapping my brain around it when a lot of the show was about defying the fate you were given (and ahiru’s fate as princess tutu was to confess her love for mytho and then disappear). it’s not necessarily a bad ship at all i just don’t get it i guess. and that’s cool! 

2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?*

black*star and death the kid. and brotp is a strong word for them.

3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?

yes, because my online fandom experience is my own to curate. and unfollowing someone over something i don’t like on my dash doesn’t mean i don’t like the person! it just means they and i don’t see eye to eye on some things... like fandom opinions. eh 

4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*

i have a lot of notps. i don’t even know where to begin with this question. uuuuuuh… hm. soo-won and yona is a big one for me. um. any of the large age gap ships in cardcaptor sakura for sure. soul and maka with anyone but each other. i don’t think i have a great tab on what’s popular anymore in fandom. i think i just kind of putz along and do my own thing.

nnnno i think i’m pretty set in my ways. i mean! fandom didn’t make me like fakiru more but in the first few episodes of princess tutu i didnt like fakir and thought the fandom was bonkers. and then, y’know. i kept watching and then i Understood.

When I started shipping them: Hmmmm, I think after the season one finale. I actually got saw the Romeo/Juliet official art of them before seeing episodes 10-13 and I was so confused on how it could go that route even though I knew by then there was more to Fakir then originally thought. But 10-13 opened my eyes. XD

My thoughts: Top tier enemies to friends to lovers (even though technically they didn't become lovers because, well, you know....). I love how they could genuinely dislike each other but then realize they both meant well about the person they both cared about and grow closer in the process.

What makes me happy about them: That they help each other grow without becoming Manic Pixie Dream Girl/Boy (Fakir is too grumpy for that and Ahiru has too much fire). That reminds me; just the miracle that they work with the personalities that they have. X3

What makes me sad about them: The ending made sense and had a great message but they had me jacked up with the underwater pas de deux set to Romeo and Juliet's last meeting. Jacked UP, I tell you!

Things done in fanfiction that annoy me: I haven't read much Princess Tutu fics so I don't really have any pet peeves (yet).

Things I look for in fanfic: Just what we got in canon; a grumpy loner with a soft center and a friendly girl with a passionate core balancing each other out.

My wishlist: I dunno. Probably more fluff in general. Those two deserve it. 😭

Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with if not each other: For Fakir practically the only option is Mytho and for Ahiru, Rue.

My happily ever after for them: Either Ahiru lives an abnormally long life as a duck and they both die old without regrets or, fan favorite, homeboy finds a way to make her human again and THEN they grow old together (you can argue it'd undermine the original message of the ending but that's their fault making us so attached XP).

Tagged by @seasaltmemories, I’ve been asked to talk about my 20 most recent fic titles. Technically, the request is for my 20 most recent fics, but the thing is I don’t title everything. Since the meme is specifically about titles, I’ll have to find the 20 most recent ones that HAVE titles. (This is teaching me I should title ALL of my fanfiction.) Also, if something’s a multipart or has a universe title for an AU beyond a vague description of what the AU is, I’ll include that because why not?

Okay, so I’m actually SO bad at naming fanfiction that this task took me all the way back to 2015 for my 20 most recently named fanfics. And even then, I’m kind of cheating because one of my AUs happens to have a lot of named parts. But they are episodes, so they will be treated as such. My 20 most recently named fics are:

1. Sealed With A Kiss - Princess Tutu - In a desperate attempt to ward off unwanted real person shipping with Fakir, (Anteat)Erina asks Autor to pretend to be her boyfriend.

2. Sins of the Father - Princess Tutu - Erina reads a book while sitting in Autor’s office. Logos sings a lot. A follow-up to Speak of the Devil. (Content warning: This story contains some disturbing events including loss of bodily control, a suicide threat, and a minor being sexually harassed. Reader discretion is advised.)

3. Sweet Dreams - Princess Tutu - Autor accidentally crashes Erina’s slumber party.

4. Yes and No - Princess Tutu - Autor is a pianist working with a rehearsing ballet company who gets shot down by prima donna Rue. Erina stands up for him, but when he goes to thank her they find they don’t share a common language.

5. Take Me To Church - Princess Tutu - In a time of war, Siegfried and Rue examine the complicated nature of love to the point of sin. A Songfic.

6. Ship of Theseus - Princess Tutu - In what she previously considered an impossible turn of events, Rue meets Lohengrin.

7. Bewitching Dream - Princess Tutu - Mytho and Rue are such a sweet couple you’d never guess she was a witch! 8. Speak of the Devil - Princess Tutu - Logos finds Autor attempting a storyspinning ritual and recalls the time his uncle attempted his own. 1. How many are you happy with?

As in super happy with right now? Five of them. Specifically Sins of the Father, Ship of Theseus, The Great Lovecraft, The Laboothrinth, and The Best Little Coven in New York. Which I guess shows you how my tastes run.

2. How many are…not great?

I’m not satisfied with Sweet Dreams or the not-goofy titles in Beyond Belief’s Boundary like Thanksgiving Snacks and A Holiday Beyond Belief’s Boundary.

3. How many did you scramble for at the last minute?

Song of Mirai was SO last minute that I’m pretty sure that series hadn’t been touched for literal years before I put that name to them.

4. How many did you know before you started writing/creating, or near the beginning?

Six of them: Sealed With A Kiss, Sins of the Father, Sweet Dreams, Take Me To Church, Speak of the Devil, and the AU name Beyond Belief’s Boundary itself.

5. How many are quotes from songs or poems?

The only one that’s intentionally from a song is the songfic Take Me To Church. That’s Just How You Name Songfics.

6. How many are other quotes?

Sealed With A Kiss, Sins of the Father, Speak of the Devil, Ship of Theseus and Don’t Lose Your Head are all expressions. A lot of Beyond Belief’s Boundary titles are intentionally making fun of other titles like The Great Lovecraft, Death Booth, The Laboothrinth, Not so Sweet Home, and The Best Little Coven in New York.

7. Which best reflects the plot of the story/content of the fanwork?

The AU titles are going to tell you the most about what’s going on if you’re familiar with the work the AU is based on. Bewitching Dream is a mashup of the two works that inspired the separate stories, Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie. Saya no Uta translates to Song of Saya, hence Song of Mirai. Beyond Belief’s Boundary just wrote itself as an AU title when I realized how well Beyond the Boundary would work in the parameters of Beyond Belief. And a lot of the parody titles of Beyond Belief’s Boundary give you an idea of what to expect. The Great Lovecraft is a loose parody of The Great Gatsby with the fictional HP Lovecraft II in the role of Gatsby. The Laboothrinth is about Akihito and Mirai exploring a diner that has become a labyrinth and finding its Minotaur. Don’t Lose Your Head is about Akihito discovering his neighbor is a penanngalan.

8. Which best reflects the theme of the story?

Sins of the Father, Speak of the Devil, and Ship of Theseus. Though now that I think about it, Sins of the Father might work better under Speak of the Devil’s name. But Speak of the Devil already got that title, and Sins of the Father still definitely works in the sense that Autor is suffering for Drosselmeyer’s sins.

9. Which best reflects the character voice of the story/pov of the fanwork?

Sealed With A Kiss, Speak of the Devil, and Ship of Theseus. The reason why I’m putting Sealed With A Kiss here is because of the nature of the title in relation to the ending, where Autor and Erina make their agreement official with a kiss. Since it’s basically from Autor’s perspective, wanting to do something to make the arrangement official feels right.

10. Which is your favourite title?

Ship of Theseus. It was just one of those moments when I was talking to a friend and got really lucky stumbling upon it.

And I stayed up WAY too late to do this, so just generally tagging whoever wants to do it.

My Top 10 Shoujo/Josei Ships

Let’s address the elephant in the room. Yes, they are problematic which is why they rank last. No doubt. But like, they’re ten and children make mistakes. Especially children who are as unfortunate as Natsume. Natsume himself is probably the most offensive one in this list. But I just...really have a soft spot for brooding bad boys who secretly want to be saved by the cheerful nice girl and that’s not going to go away ANY time soon. I grew really fond of these two as the series went on. I just did.

Man, these two used to be a lot higher when I was younger (like the same age as them lol) KKJ was the first true cosplay I ever did! So...um, not so much in the anime (although he’s not totally innocent but he is better). Chiaki has...issues. Lol. To say he’s insecure...is probably an understatement. But when you look at his upbringing, it’s really no surprise. Maron is the only person he truly seems to care about so he’s going to cling and be needy. But she knows how to handle him. She’s always in control (not in a bad way) but in a way that’s good for both of them. I love how mature she is. He will learn from her....if he hasn’t already. Okay, they’re married with a baby so I would think adult!Chiaki has gotten over what made the teenage ship problematic. Besides, they totally have God’s approval; what more do you need? XD

Ya all watched it hoping for these two....RIDICULOUS TSUNDERE...GOOBERS TO TURN AROUND ONE DAY AND CONFESS HOW MUCH THEY DREAM OF GETTING MARRIED TO EACH OTHER...

MeimixAsuka is the absolute classic “love-hate/ slap slap kiss” ship DONE RIGHT. Which is great because so many are done very very wrong (and I can think of quite a few in, ironically non-Japanese media...aimed at children...that can honest to God, be interpreted as downright abusive. *coughiCarlycough*

But not these two. They are so f*cking innocent. Delightfully innocent. Like, their most offensive action is to call each other “idiot”. But God forbid anybody ELSE do that...oh no, if you dare bad-mouth one in front of the other, he/she gets so mad. And that’s like the cutest shit ever.

OH HEY. IT’S THE ONE BL SHIP I ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT!! Um...well, these two are great. I thought they were great in college when I went through my fujoshi stage (ugh) BUT I STILL think they’re great NOW. This is the anime version of The Odd Couple. With more gay. xD These two are sweet as chocolate. Their interaction is just precious. What’s more important? THEY’RE ACTUALLY GOOD FOR EACH OTHER. No rape. No forcing feels on each other, great chemistry, comforting comforters; all the reasons you’d ship a regular boyxgirl pairing. This one just happens to be two boys. AND I STILL DON’T KNOW IF THIS EVER TURNED CANON AFJLFJLFJDLJF

This is one of those very few Childhood Friend Ships I’m all for. It’s kind of crazy that they were able to rank this high when I haven’t even finished their story yet. BUT I LOVE THEM. I was going to pick a ship and say “Imagine _____, except they’re little kids.” But actually, I’m having a hard time comparing them to another ship I can think of. So...they’re KINDA ‘Slap Slap Kiss’-ish but Seiya does not hide his feelings. AT ALL. He’s pretty out-spoken about it. And all he wants to do is sweep her off her feet...but it’s basically the other way around xD As for Ririka...going by Shoujo Logic, her crush on (wow he’s so boring I can’t even remember his stupid name LOL) is superficial and she subconsciously has deeper feelings for Seiya that she’s unaware of...but damn, she sure gets fired up when he’s hurt in front of her! So that gives me hope.

This is just a given. It’s HIGHLY unlikely you would find another “Best Shoujo Pairing” list WITHOUT them. So he’s already there but HURRY UP AND REALIZE YOU LOVE HIM, AHIRU. Lol dammit. The only hint we get from her is “Fakir always makes me stronger” and that SINGLE LINE is deeper than ANY thought she ever had about Mytho. Hell, I’m pretty sure Ikuko herself ships them hard. Their entire relationship is so beautifully crafted...just like the rest of the series except maybe for Ahiru’s crush on Mytho which just had me going “LOLWHY” the entire time.

“SLAP SLAP KISS” LITERALLY. All they do is fight...and then kiss. xD They’re always saving each other, supporting each other, underneath all those insults, then they get married and have two cute kids. Some people think Kazune’s too hard on her...but it’s “tough love”. He has to be because that’s what motivates her. Every single thing Kazune does in the series is strictly for her sake. Their main problem is miscommunication...but I think that goes away quickly so who cares?

Yes, yes, I know. We have two major problems here: The first is initial sexual harassment. Obviously.

But here’s the second problem:

IT’S  JUST TOO DAMN FCKING HOT.

Tooyama Ema knew how to turn up the sexual tension to ELEVEN with these two. Good lord, did she ever. This is by far the sexiest manga I’ve ever read!! Whoever coined the phrase “DOKI-DOKI MOTHERFUCKER” surely had to be reading about Yukina making Shigure do things and Shigure making Yukina do things. While the ship (born from blackmail) should strictly fall into ‘Guilty Pleasure Smut’ category, it only teeters on the edge. For me, at least. Why? Because the character development is actually really damn good. Shigure goes from Cold, Uncaring Magnificent Bastard to Excellent Tsundere Boyfriend Material quite steadily and beautifully. He’s also the only character in the series who can handle Yukina’s personality flaws. Basically, “he’s good for her” while the others are...um, terrible. xD

It’s an ancient story. ‘Vampires make sexy boyfriends’. I believe this has been going on for a reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally long time. Like.....since the 30s, maybe? When did Anne Rice start writing? IDK ANYWAY IT’S A THING. Cutesy human girl wants vampire. The vampire is broody, dark, emo. “I’m dangerous. Stay away from me. You’ll only get hurt”. But they still turn into an off-again, on-again thing because he can’t make up his f*cking mind on whether to protect her at his side or “protect by neglect”. We’ve all heard it before.

EXCEPT THAT IS NOT THIS STORY.

No, it’s cutest f*cking damn vampire romance I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing. And yeah, I did watch Karin and Tsukuyomi Moon Phase but I’m partial to vampire stories for women so fck that. lol. So...where to start. First of all, Riho loved him way before she even knew what he was. When she finds out, she still loves him. And he does do the “You’re better off not being with me because danger”. But he doesn’t say this to be edgy or to manipulate her; he says it because what he does is actually dangerous enough for her to get killed and he doesn’t want that. But she doesn’t give a damn. And he treats her like a princess. And she finds out how lonely he is and vows to always stay at his side and he respects her f*cking decisions and they go on cute dates and always comfort each other and just afjalfjalfjaijfIWEJFILOVETHISSHIPSOMUCH.

These two pairings are....like...they affect me in ways I just cannot fathom. Like...I literally do not understand how they’ve cast these obsessive spells on me...but they have. Fanart records do not lie. And mine...for both of them is ridiculous.

So why?

The best answer I can come up with is...

“Most emotionally deep”. They inspire me. They make me squeal with joy and break down sobbing. They give me warm fuzzy feelings while at the same time, tearing my heart to shreds. I just can’t get enough of either one. It’s almost like they’ve touched my soul somehow. I just don’t know. I don’t think there’s a ship that expresses the feeling of ‘soulmates’ stronger than these two ships. I feel like Takuto and Mitsuki and Issac and Rachel were born so they could meet each other. They’re both oddly similar...and yet different as night and day seewhatIdidtharwiththepics. I think “sacrifice” and “salvation” is what I respond most to when I think about ever-lasting true love. And everything about these four characters’ development is centered around these two things.

What do you think of those people who believe that myth should have stayed with princess tutu? and because myth fell in love with rue? (I'm not clear about that)

Disclaimer: Im not a shipper. It actually took me a couple of years to understand and accept Fakiru as my OTP. I can actually count my ships on one hand.

But as for those who feel that Mytho should have stayed with Tutu, I know where they are coming from.

And there were times I felt that Mytho could have been with Tutu/Ahiru. Especially for the first season. It seemed like the creators were really pushing for their relationship, and it was really cute to see it on screen. There was hints and stuff that has potential.

So when season 2 and the finale happened, it's mind boggling that everything got flipped.

But it all made sense from context if what happened. Relationships is a two way street. It's not one or the other's decision to make, as Rue had learned. It's both. And in life, it's not something that is easy. There is never "The One" and "Fated" as the media/Kraehe says there is.

A thing about love is that it's reciprocal and a decision. If it was something that was programmed, it's not satisfying. So in the finale when Mytho decides to choose Rue as his princess, that was his decision. It's canon. Like everyone who says that it's a mistake, just like how first Fakir and Rue said that regaining his heart was a mistake, are you really going to decide for him then?

But that's why we have fanfic and stuff, right? I don't mind seeing Mythiru or Mythutu(?) As long as it is compelling. But if they start to make a post series to retconn Mytho's decision, erm...I don't know. Sounds like bad writing. >_>;

And from what I see, there's nobody truly making an angry fuss about it (although I haven't been on Tumblr that much). TBH there's not many of you guys with Mythiru content, and I know it's discouraging bc the fandom is like 98% Fakiru, 2% others. I know you guys are there, and some of the stuff you guys make are pretty cute. I don't think what you believe is bad or wrong. Just be responsible, ya know?

I don't want to start a shipping war or something. It's not worth the energy.

I just want my lonely birbs and angry tree boi and traumatized Prince to be happy.

3 sentence ficlets

Ok, so back in January I wrote some 3 sentence fics for a thing on dreamwidth. I have meant to post them since February, but literally every time I remembered to go look at them/edit/search back the prompt something has gone wrong with my computer. So here, have a few ficlets since I haven’t been around with writing much. (a slightly longer Howl’s Moving Castle fic to follow, if by slightly longer I mean more like 2 pages, not 100)

Kingdom Hearts: Kingdom Hearts, Riku, regrets

Once, before everything, Riku had thought of himself as the strong one, the oldest and therefor the wisest of his group of friends; the one to lead and plan and bring all of them to great things. It seems so simple and naive now, arrogant, shortsighted and harmful. When it came down to it, Riku's choices had nearly killed them all just because he thought he knew best, and that would always haunt him, that taint of darkness and fear that he'd make the wrong choice again--he hadn't meant to hurt his friends but he knew better now and he'd fight himself every day if he had to to keep from hurting them again.

Howl didn't know when he realized it was love. Maybe it was listening to Sophie and Calcifer bicker back and forth and the fond way he always let her win, or maybe it was when she didn't fall for his boyish smile like so many other women had in the past, or the stubborn glint in her eyes that meant trouble and worrisome things for him and his spells and spiders. It wasn't a logical thing, but he supposed hearts weren't logical things at all--she'd somehow managed to charm his heart when he didn't even have it in his chest and it pulsed its phantom echo in his veins all the same, as inescapable as the Witch of the Waste's abominable curse... and he wouldn't change a thing.

 Princess Tutu: Princess Tutu, any, "if you look away, even for an instant, then our hero will surely perish.”

The breath caught in Tutu's throat--she couldn't tear her eyes from the clash of swords. It felt like if she turned away it would all be over, one would be defeated and she wasn't sure what outcome she could even hope for in this moment. Mytho or Fakir; the thought of either of them being struck down by the other was equally upsetting. Blades slid against each other with a shriek. Fakir faltered. Words burst from Tutu's throat but she couldn't hear anything above that final awful clang--she hadn't looked away, but Fakir fell regardless.

Hunter x Hunter: Hunter x Hunter, Killua/Gon, first kiss

"I dare you," Killua said, grinning, "and you give me ten chocorobos if you chicken out." "Killua," Gon complained, his best friend's addiction to chocolate a little ridiculous by this point. "You scared?" Killua teased, poking Gon in the side. Gon narrowed his eyes and dragged Killua in to a kiss. Killua froze, eyes huge. "Killua, if you want me to kiss you, just ask!"

Kingdom hearts: Kingdom Hearts+any, Sora, visiting new worlds

The best part of a new world, Sora thought, besides the breath-taking moment of first seeing it in the gummy ship, was how different each one was. Some had humans, some were full of talking animals, some were creepy or wet or cold or full of aliens--and Sora never knew what he was going to get from that first sight of the world. He'd grown up on an island where seasons barely happened and you knew everyone who lived there from birth; there was nothing more magical than discovering someplace different and meeting someone new.

 Dragon Knights: Dragon Knights, Gil & Bierrez, So I guess we're good guys now? It feels kind of wrong, like we cheated," Gil said looking down at his hands that are, against all probability, his and alive and strong. "We were demons and yet here we are part of the dragon clan and in important positions. We didn't earn it."  Bierrez was perhaps one of the only people who could understand since he'd been in Rath as well; he didn't seem as troubled by the change though. "Didn't we? What was all that suffering for if not to lead us to a point where we can fix what caused it?"

  Detective Pikachu: Detective Pikachu, any, "you're not allowed to SAY words like that!"

Pikachu looked over the edge of the building and groaned, "Oh fu---" Tim slapped a hand over Pikachu's mouth and hissed, "You're not allowed to SAY words like that!" "They can't even understand me!" Pikachu said squirming free. "Sometimes a situation calls for a bit of swearing, just look!" Tim inched closer to the edge. "Oh....fuck."

Avatar the Last Airbender: Avatar: the Last Airbender, any, birthdays

"It's weird...I'm thirteen, but also a hundred and thirteen and I don't remember any of those birthdays," Aang said, looking a bit sad. Katara reached out, ready to pull him into a supportive hug, but Aang suddenly sat upright, grinning.  "Wait," he said excitedly, "since I've missed a hundred years of birthdays that means I can have a hundred catch-up birthday parties!"

There was a small blond-haired child with the biggest blue eyes Eva had ever seen standing at her counter with a kitten in his arms. He had money on one fist, staring up at the assorted goodies behind the counter like they held the answers to the universe. "I want a really big thweet-roll," he said, "with frothting." 

"Of course, sweetheart," Eva said, pulling out a roll from the display. "Are your parents around?"

"They're shopping. Wanna thee my kitten?" He held up the little bundle of black fur. The kitten purred so hard it was vibrating.

"Aww, it's very cute."

"He'th like my thon," the boy said with all the solemnity a small child could manage.

Eva melted a little; children and baby animals were peak adorable. "I'm sure he's going to grow into a big strong kitty, too. Here's your roll."

"Thankth!" the boy lisped, grinning with gapped teeth. He stretched and set the handful of money on the counter. "Ith that enough?"

It was just short of what the roll cost by a half penny, but Eva wasn't going to tell him that, not with those big blue eyes looking at her so earnestly. "All good! Have a nice day, honey!"

"Thankth, ma'am," he said with perfect little manners, leaving with his kitten in one arm and his sweet roll in the other. 

Eva smiled after him, the encounter buoying her mood on an otherwise dull Sunday afternoon. At least until a few minutes later when a frazzled woman with reddish hair escaping from her hat every which way burst into the shop. 

"Have you seen a child? Blond with a kitten?" the woman asked, sounding a bit desperate.

"Yes, just a bit ago. He bought a sweet roll." Clearly this must be his mother and he had wandered off instead of having permission. "He turned right when he left."

"Thank you!" the woman said before rushing back out. Eva could swear she heard her say something about feeding fancy shoes to someone. Eva had the distinct feeling that she didn't want to know. Hopefully that poor woman found her son. He'd been such a sweet boy after all.
