mortal kombat 1 story mode was absolutely delightful first of all because everyone looks heavenly beautiful and my bi ass was shook every second of it and also bc shang tsung is the cuntiest cunt to ever cunt in this game and johnny/kenshi being the perfect gay "you should be addicted to shutting the fuck up / you wanna fuck me so bad it makes you look stupid" energy bi4bi rivals to lovers and kitana is a literal goddess now amazing and kenshi the prettiest mfucker in all timelines and empress sindel and this johnny being the best johnny of all games and multiverse endless possibilities and mileena/tanya canon bi4bi being so soft and kenshi and jax the mk version of men in black and liu kang and his found family happy ending [narrator voice] FRIENDSHIP and new takes and things and yeah it wasn't perfect we all have our faves we wanted to see more etc but for a fighting game story mode??? it was very gay and pretty and I for one approve

Heard the news about Kitana's actress in the MK movie sequel? I guess we can rule out Kitana and Mileena being template and clone.

As a concept, I'm weirdly okay with Kitana and Mileena not being "siblings" because of Shao Khan's twisted cloning experiment. It's essentially a gameplay conceit (or holdover) from the game's arcade days that NRS has not done any particular justice by way of recent storytelling efforts. A different actress certainly doesn't mean they can't be "sisters" in this sequel.

In practice? I don't know how this story turn will play in the new MK movie sequel. I was okay-ish with the concept of a new protagonist, but they did bupkis with Lewis Tan other than make him a hindrance in a film that failed to set up its (bloated) cast of characters.

They didn't do anything with Mileena other than make her a snarling henchman in the first. I'm honestly concerned with what they plan on doing with Kitana (considering Mileena and Liu Kang's positions in the first film were little more than stand-in characters for action sequences. The same thing will probably happen to her.).

With all the time they spent on Tan's character, they could've been setting up Mileena and Kitana's dynamic, but they didn't. I'm not expecting any forethought with Kitana's introduction.

I'm sorry but like...... I started watching mortal kombat 1 story mode (yes watching bc I'm unable to play it so I'm watching a playthrough) and like first of all bisexual panic literally every second of it bc everyone looks so fucking good but specially kenshi and kitana I'm so in love with them holy shit my beloveds!!!

In the grand scheme of things, this isn’t any different from what Netherrealm has done with previous iterations of Mortal Kombat (”Rboot Be Thy Name”), but I’m, honestly, really glad they pulled the trigger and didn’t retcon Fire God Liu Kang ending of MK11. (I mean, I would’ve preferred the Liu/Katana version, but I’ll live)

I just kinda wish it was with an entirely new roster of characters instead of six new characters, but the timeline conceit at the very least justifies it on a narrative level.

I hope the six new characters are the main characters and the classic characters are just supporting characters.(At least it doesn’t sound like they’re gonna have Johnny Cage hogging the narrative this time around.)
