orym is now voicing his anger and impatience and pain. that’s a good thing, kids. because otherwise you spend five years of your life avoiding the people you love and the job you love and the home you love.

To cap off this pride month, a few of my queer headcanons for Carmen Sandiego (2019) characters!

I headcanon Player as a trans boy and Carmen as a trans woman! I also definitely think Carmen's sapphic but I don't have a more specific identity in mind for her.

Julia is a lesbian ofc. Her shirt is inspired by this retro lesbian shirt! If I had seen it before inking I would have made it an actual shirt with a collar and all but alas I saw it too late.

And I headcanon Devineaux as a trans man. His jacket was heavily based on this vintage jacket, obviously with the colors reworked. That's his new lucky coat probably.

(I have headcanons for other characters but since they're less fixed I won't talk about them here)

See but here's the thing just like how when yj did the judas contract but changed it til it was almost unrecognisable to it's comic book story the heroes in crisis story also probably wouldn't have been anything like how it plays out in the comics not least of which bc some very important characters to that story like Roy and wally just aren't in the same position that where in the comics so while the idea of a place where heroes can go to seek help might have been taken from the comics I doubt much else would be the same

thinking about trans Dean and how that plays into The Trauma,,, like the only way I can imagine John accepting transsexualism is if Dean started living full time as a boy really young, after Mary just happily went along with Dean's preferences, and John allowed it on the basis he'd rather have a boy anyway but ONLY if no one ever found out. Rationalised it in his head as maybe like, Dean essentially being intersex or something going wrong with the pregnancy, so he can see Dean as his son who was born male but defective. So Dean is like, stealth whether he likes it or not, and John is even more vigilant about making sure he acts like a 'real man' than he would have been if Dean were cis. Polices his gender expression and interests far more than he does Sam's for instance.

(And obviously this also impacts the internalised homophobia! If he'd found Sam with a man, John would have called him a girl. If he'd found Dean with one, he would have meant it.)

Sam obviously knows, but can probably remember a time when he was really little and didn't realise, before he just kind of absorbed the secret in the way kids do. But he definitely doesn't know/understand the intricacies of John's abuse of Dean (much like neither of them understand the dynamic he had with the other in canon, even if Sam's more aware that his own situation was abusive). Like I imagine at some point Sam is there while Dean is coming out and explaining this all to say, Jo or Cas or someone, during a late night heart to heart, and Sam is sitting there horrified as he learns a lot of stuff for the very first time.

there are indeed other games, but the ones i played are uh. not as psychological? or rather the threat is more externalized. while sh2 is definitely A Look Under The Rock Of James' Deep And Twisted Mind which i like a lot.
