How to take screenshots and edit (when it's just not your thing)

Alright-y!

So, I have over the years learned how to use reshade and to edit my pictures. I am really not a natural on these things, so this is very much to help others who are as aesthetically challenged as I am. I have to have certain "rules" to follow, because I can rarely just see if a picture will turn out well or not.

We all need to realize where I started. We're talking using FRAPS to take screenshots and then running holy colours batman! to get some sort of effect.

Now, I'm not one to buy fancy stuff and to pirate certain programs isn't really my thing either. So we mend and make do!

Also, I am by far very good at taking screenshots and edit, but I have learned things and hope that it might be useful for someone!

A word on light

One thing I've learned is to work with is light. Where the light is is where the focus will go. This doesn't mean that a person has to be in the spotlight, but if they aren't - try to make that a more conscious choice. I am no pro at this, but I have to say that some of my favorite screenshots are where the light is just good. It focuses the eye or it just give a vibe.

(and yes, for some reason all of my faves are of Agnes, which is a bit annoying since Amanda is my fav-character, lol)

This is also where reLight comes in handy. Yes, it's behind a paywall but there are ways that you will have to figure out yourself.

Posing

Posing is fun! I don't fully story-tell with my sims, most of it is gameplay. But I do like to pose for family pictures or to enhance something that is going on.

What you need is Andrew's Pose Player and Teleport Any Sim or Wicked Whims.

Now, I haven't figured out how to use WW for children and younger to pose, so I use both. And I like @ts4-poses to find poses. Eventually, you'll find your favorite creators and can follow them directly.

Angles and vibes

Here's a trick. Work with angles. I am a master of pictures with zero vibe, just a face. Those can be ok, and sometimes that's what you have - but try to angle your shot a little.

Or add clutter, focus on that and let something out of focus happen in the background.

Or just go higher, take the screenshot from above.

Or don't focus on your sim at all, focus on something else that adds to the story/post.

The light is good, the angle great, the poses are in place and now, we need to take the actual screenshots.

I am a huge fan of reshade, I use version 4.9.1 because that works for me and the presets I use. No need to update reshade unless it becomes too old.

It can be really difficult to to find a preset that you like. I mostly use birdie by @monasims, tawhay by @windslar and paperbacks by @literalite. But I have tried many.

I like this youtube-tutorial on how to make your own preset, which also helps if you wish to modify one that you've downloaded. I do always recommend learning how to use ADOF and CinematicDOF to help focus the image on what you want to capture. I also strongly recommend @pictureamoebae's Foundation.

To take pictures, use the tab-key to leave the UI behind and use Q and E to go down/up in your game and then the mouse to angle. I use print-screen to take my screenshot, but that's something you set up when installing reshade so that's different for everyone.

And now you have your screenshot and it's time to open an editing program. Cheap as I am, I open GIMP.

I don't use many steps. Since I can't use fancy photoshop actions I have to make all the steps by myself and well - I am human and therefor lazy.

Resize and start to think of a post

First things first. I cut my pictures to work for the tumblr ratio. I actually don't resize them smaller anymore - because when I change layout on my tumblr I just feel as if it messes it up. Now, I don't have a huge screen and my screenshots aren't massive, so it's not necessary either.

My images will be 1017x1017, 1525 x 1017 or 678 x 1017.

Once this is done, I also try to look at how they will go together. If I want a post of just squares I need to have an even number of images. Sometimes I want a landscape image as a sort of heading, or one in the middle with squares around it. It depends on what I want to convey.

This is by no means something that comes natural to me - I am aesthetically challenged after all. Sometimes, I just have 5 images and have to make do.

Topaz Clean

Yup, it's awesome. No, it doesn't come with GIMP. Yes, there are ways to work around this. You will have to find those ways on your own.

But I have to say, it does makes wonder for the images. I have completely stolen @sojutrait 's settings because I really like her style and therefor - I copy. I have added a bit more sharpening, but otherwise it's completely hers.

Topaz Clean:ed

Curves

Curves my beloved! I use curves for two things! Take out the yellow (aka increase the blue) and to brighten/darken the image!

I do sometimes matte the image too and here's a good tutorial for GIMP users on how to use curves in GIMP (for a matte look)

Less yellow/more blue

Brighten the brights (but I did not brighten the darker parts)

Layers, curves and increase the light where needed

Now, remember that we need light? Sometimes, a screenshot just doesn't have the right light. So I duplicate the layer, use the free marking tool around what I wish was brighter and put that on a new layer.

Then I use curves to lighten the layer with what I want to brighten and to make darker the layer with what I want to put less focus on (here's an ok youtube video on the subject).

Below, you can see the effect on my images.

Sharpen

Pretty basic. I subtly sharpen the image again. Even if I use the sharpening in topaz clean I do like to add an extra touch before it's time to save and move on.

So sharp!

PSD and UI

I do like to use psd's now and then. I mainly use @windslar's psd-collections and @deathbypufferfish's Build-a-Sim Icon Pack.

It's mostly to help give some info about the post or when my sims age up and I want to show their traits.

I do use the UI-info sometimes. If I do, I go into Game Options in the game > Accessibility > UI-scale and just drag that up a bit. Then I copy/paste that part onto the image I'm using.

Done!

That's pretty much it. Thing is, to post good edits you have to actually take good screenshots. As annoying as it is, it's like cooking: it all comes down to the ingredients. I hate cooking Yes, editing does help but I think my main journey has been to learn to take better screenshots from the start.

This request is so late, I’ll blame it on the fact I was in Tumblr jail.

Marriage

Actually gets dumber when he gets married, mostly intentional. He’s the type to pretend he doesn’t know how to do something so he gets an excuse to hear you teach him about it.

He’s really helpful otherwise, but sometimes, he just wants to annoy you a little. It’s cute to see you explaining to him how to separate the colors for the laundry, then he turns around and does it like he has done this a million times before.

If you handle the cooking, he will literally be in heaven. Everyday, he would rush home early to enjoy your food. Dokja feels bad if he doesn’t help, though. So almost always, he will either handle buying groceries and preparing the ingredients. It goes without saying that he’s washing the dishes.

He can do it alone but it’d be very nice if you spend time with him while he’s washing the dishes 🥺

Honestly, he’s good at being independent and you can leave him alone for a long time. But he likes being alone with you, it gives him comfort to know that you’ll be around.

Can’t stand going to bed before an argument is resolved. He thinks the worst feeling is letting you go to bed angry when he could’ve dealt with the matter somehow. It’s a bit annoying how he insists on talking it out when the both of you are already tired, but seeing the look in his eyes when you turn him down makes you feel bad, to be honest.

Loves going on little dates with you. Just sitting in the cafe together on the weekends or even going to buy grocery together. Always holds your hand during these occasion and has a silly smile on his face. He’s not one for big gesture, but these small things flutter his heartbeat a lot.

Most of his love language is in the small, understated things, to be honest. Helping you brush your hair before bed or replacing your products for you when he notices they’re running out. It puts a smile on his face to see you being able to go about your day without worrying about the small things.

Kids

I think he’s one of those people who can stay married for a long time before he thinks about the prospects of kids. Of course, he has talked about it to you before you get married, but it’s not something he actively works for.

He feels complicated about having kids at best. While he knows there’s a social expectation for the two of you to extend your family, he’s not enthused about the idea.

Kids wouldn’t be something he pushes for and refers to your preference, but he errs on the side of feeling better without. Not because he is against having children with you, but because he still feels like he has a lot to work on.

It’s one thing to have a partner while he’s still dealing with a lot of past traumas. It’s another to have a child that he might unknowingly pass down his unhealthy habits to.

Tentative about the idea, but once he puts his mind to it, he can be a decent father. Not the best one, because he makes a lot of mistakes, but he does try to learn from that. It really depends on which point of his life he's at, but he's somebody who would deal better with older children than younger ones in general.

He will need you for the bulk of the children's childhood because he really doesn't handle toddlers and infants well. He does try his best, but he's too awkward to handle children naturally. Quieter kids often have a better time with him because they often feel calmer around him.

Stitch uses any pronouns, but they/them is a preferred one.

They are aroace.

The place they live in is called "Treatment space"(the info on what it is will be elaborated on sometime later). It is accessible for anyone in Omega Timeline at any given point through a door. But it can also be accessed from anywhere if you have one of 2 special keys: small red key that will create a door for 1 person leading to the Treatment Space or the bigger dark red key that will create a much bigger door, also leading to the Treatment Space(backyard). Keys can be mostly found in Omega Timeline, but some are scattered throughout the Multiverse.

They mimic the voice according to the form they have at the moment. So Sans' voice for a form of Sans, etc.

For all the different parts of plush bodies and clothes, there is a separate big room in Treatment Space.

Stitch doesn't need to sleep, eat, or drink.

Their most preferred forms are Toriel(convenience) and Sans(frequency of use).

The forms they don't like to use the most are the ones that are small(like Temmie, annoying dog, Flowey, etc.)

Tbh I'm a jikooker, but I find it incredibly difficult to fit a healthy long-term relationship into the same timeline as all of jimin's solo work. It's not the pronouns or taking one lyric very literally, its the entire thing, plus comments from him and his producers. To me, you'd have to do some serious olympic level mental gymnastics to make that make sense. I don't doubt that jikook have a special bond, I've definitely seen things between them that definitely look like sexual attraction to me and things that surpass friendship boundaries, but I can't in good faith say that they're together in some official long-term way if I actually listen to jimin and his work.

I've seen some jikookers think they broke up for a while, but I have to question if those people have ever been through a breakup because the little bit of distance/separation/awkwardness we did see from them during chapter 2 is nothing compared to the type of tension that would be there if a relationship that intimate and intertwined had separated, especially considering the dark feelings jimin was feeling. He wouldn't have been cutely commenting on jungkook's lives and jungkook wouldn't have been asking to hang-out or getting excited to see jimin in his comments.

Idk, I'm sure someone could twist everything a certain way and only take certain things at face-value and then make everything else abstract, etc. to make the case that they are together, but I don't really see it. You look at face-off, alone, and just his general dark feelings during Face, then look at the creation of Muse and how him and his producers said he couldn't relate to the love-dovey beginning songs, which is how they ended up making Who (despite the fact that jikookers try to distance him from the song since he doesn't have writing credits even though he sat in the recording room telling them what he wanted and saying it felt like reading his diary). I think jimin could have very well gone through a pretty awful breakup along with the inner turmoil he was going through post-covid, but I don't think it was with jungkook if he did. I still enjoy jikook's bond either way at the end of the day, but yeah I don't really get how anyone can take an honest look at jimin's work and his words and think he was in a long-term healthy love-of-his-life relationship during that time or into chapter 2.

Not trying to change your opinion or anything, honestly I don't really see it discussed much in jikooker spaces (besides bad-faith stuff like tkkers stirring up shit over pronouns in lyrics which is just dumb) and when it is, some jikookers are pretty pick-and-choose about what they deem to be true to jimin's feelings and what isn't. Which I get being nuanced, but sometimes it does feel like a "well this fits my beliefs so clearly this is true to jimin and this doesn't so it means nothing because he didn't write it" or whatever. I honestly get annoyed with the bad-faith arguers because it prevents being able to have actual discussions about some of this stuff in our little jikooker corner of tumblr. Like "he said her, he's clearly straight! he danced with a girl, straight!" stfu.

All of this is just like okay fine whatever. Here is your platform for these opinions. You don't really want me or my thoughts, you want my platform and my validation. Here ya go. (Mostly a general you here for all the asks I get in a similar nature to this, sorry)

Personal time: I have the best partner in the world. I love him with my whole being. I have been with him since I was a teenager. We have gone through all sorts of changes and self discovery together. I also STILL occasionally struggle with self harm and wanting to kill myself. In fact, the only reason I'm still alive and not actively TRYING to off myself is because I don't want to traumatize my children and husband. I have crippling depression. I related to some of those darker feelings from FACE immensely. So you are inadvertently invalidating my own relationship by saying this, which I do kinda take offense to. And anyone who struggles with their mental health, all their relationships too.

So that's all. I just really needed at least one person to realize what an unfair and unnuanced take that part is. Everything else, sure. Agree to disagree friend. I'm all for it. You think Jimin is single but still love Jikooks bond, that's literally all I care about and I can coexist with you happily in a Jikook/bts bubble. 💜

@calpalsworld holding me at gunpoint and making me break my tumblr hiatus to post my thematic analysis of Look Outside. I know making horror about mental health is overplayed but hear me out for a sec, this one is good. CW for mention of sexual themes. And spoilers, obviously:

Look Outside is a sort of reverse Metamorphosis. At the start of the game, Sam has recently acquired some kind of invisible disability or mental illness, or one that he already had has progressed to an unmanageable point. This causes the world itself to metamorphose, becoming frightening, hostile, and deeply confusing. The specifics of his disability don’t really matter here, as Sam doesn’t understand it himself. The act of looking outside in this case represents confronting reality, and the people who have looked outside are those who have in some way or another come to grips with their tragedy. Jeane’s life is falling apart and she feels like she’s losing control. Mr. Henderson is dealing with severe PTSD. The tooth family is grieving the arbitrary death of their child (which I also realize is a trope, but sometimes the most obvious reading is simply correct lol). Stargazer projects its trauma onto the people it’s close to, attempting to control and “fix” them, and Spine subjects Sam to abuse in turn. Frederic ties his identity and self worth to his art, and he allows his negative emotions about his work to become all he is. Some of the cursed cope just fine, and while they may not appear the most stable, they are able to deal with reality without lashing out or destroying themselves. There are, of course, plenty of things that aren’t a one-to-one metaphor, but the general pattern is there. When Sam looks at the visitor at the beginning of the game, when he’s at his weakest and most isolated, he flat-out self-destructs because he’s unequipped to cope with his new reality.

The human companions, as well, have a pattern of being those who haven’t really looked inward. Ernest most obviously has some kind of psychosis going on with his paranoia and delusions about the paranormal, and has either chosen not to seek help, or hasn’t had it offered to him. Dan is a very clearly neurodivergent man who is completely oblivious to how he affects others, toxic and annoying not out of malice but because he is a deeply myopic person. Sophie is a child who either hasn’t been affected by tragedy, or doesn’t yet grasp the gravity of things that have happened to her. Papineau is sort of wrapped up in his very specific fixation, and while it’s not harmful, it’s definitely abnormal, and he doesn’t seem to realize it. And Xaria and Monty are countercultural weirdos, likely on the fringes of society, who use force to get what they want rather than constructively building community.

The specifics of Sam’s illness don’t really matter, but it’s difficult to ignore the erotic elements of the game. Putting aside the guro/tf overtones for now, Sam has three obsessive stalkers. While they vary in their level of harm, all of them in some way threaten his boundaries and sense of self. As said before, Spine seems to represent some kind of abusive cycle – a controlling and entitled partner. Lyle is mostly harmless, but is still a stalker at the end of the day. And though Sam can choose to engage with him, it’s framed as a generally awkward and transactional situation. Shadow doesn’t represent cut and dry abuse, but a chasm in communication. Sam is not ready for the sort of relationship Shadow represents, and when he runs into it too fast, it destroys him. Again, I don’t think the specifics of Sam’s illness matter too much in the end, but I can definitely see a reading where he’s dealing with emotional or sexual trauma that caused his mental health to nosedive. I mean, returning to the fetish overtones of the game, one could posit transformation as sexual liberation – entering a world that can be genuinely dangerous, but which can also empower those who reside there. I personally don’t think enough of the game’s characters fit this theme for it to be the intended reading, but I think it’s a fun angle to take. If anything, I think Sam has hang ups about intimacy in general. He’s just a very isolated person, perhaps because of his enigmatic illness, and that has taken a toll on his mental wellbeing. But I digress.

The ritual has Sam confronting reality at long last, finally staring down this inscrutable, nonsensical tragedy. This time, however, he has other people to lean on (if you aren’t doing a solo run), and has explored the lives and trauma of the other people in the apartment. He is able to see the visitor without instantly collapsing. He holds a mirror up to the visitor, showing it what it looks like, making it understand the harm it has caused, echoing the scenes of Sam berating himself in the more literal mirror. In the Denial ending, he confronts reality, sees what he needs to see, and moves on. He is changed, he understands himself. His life and the function of his body will never be normal, but he is happy and lives a fulfilled life surrounded by friends. In the Denial ending, Sam copes.

Truth, however, sees Sam fixating on his trauma to the point that it destroys him. He is consumed by tragedy, and it makes him a true monster, lashing out at the world around him and ultimately making it uninhabitable. Subscribed wholly to nihilism, he destroys his own life. Flawed ending Sam survives the encounter with the visitor and remains lucid (as far as we are shown), but he does not grasp the whole truth. He didn’t put the pieces together correctly. While he now understands that there is a problem, that he is in some way deviant, he can’t accept it as readily. Whether he copes with his change is left up in the air, but if he does it will take a long time, and he may never truly accept himself. Sam doesn’t confront the visitor at all in No Going Back, and is thus sentenced to a lifetime of general suckage. The world of No Going Back is the perpetual but lowkey misery that comes with having an undiagnosed or invisible disability. Sam does not change for the worse, but he stagnates. Even if he has friends, or has become stronger as a person, the root of the issue was never addressed, and the world will never truly be a place he can be happy in.

Tldr: Look Outside is a game about accepting a disability and mental illness as part of who you are, and learning to navigate a world that is actively hostile to you and people like you.

Price & Gaz: as mentioned in the above post, cuddly rather than horny. Can’t imagine them getting directly raunchy with each other. At all. But I can imagine them holding each other close, sitting in the office being the silent rock that the other needs to get through a stressful day. They talk more formally with each other than Soap and Ghost in every way of the word. Gaz has always known Price as Captain, Price has always known Gaz as Kyle. They can depend on each other, they’re a team. They keep going through shit in Urzikstan together, fr, so I feel like they feel like work partners who happen to mesh romantically and do not mind kisses in the slightest. In fact, Price would not mind a kiss right now, and Gaz would not mind being the pretty lad to give one-

Soap and Ghost: oh this is up to interpretation. Ghoap is my favorite ship and it shows. I like the idea of Ghost having a hard time explaining (or even deciding) what he wants out of the relationship. It’s easier to delve into the bedroom than it is into emotions. And Soap is incredibly eager for the bedroom ofc, but he also loves spending time with Simon, not just the Ghost. He wants to figure out what makes Simon happy, and sometimes he’s not very good at it, but god damn it, he’s trying. So Simon is going to try, too…. Once he gets the stick out of his ass that keeps telling him he doesn’t deserve this love or this kindness. Such an annoying stick. Soap is trying to rip it out like a beyblade cord

Gaz and Ghost: didn’t even think of this pairing before tumblr, but now I can’t stop thinking about it. Ghost is emotionally constipated to hell, and Gaz has the patience for it, damn it! He knows he can’t just bulldoze Ghost’s emotional and trust issues with happiness to fix it (Soap keeps proving this, ‘cause he doesn’t know what else to do). So Gaz is gentler with Ghost, letting him take his time to work out feelings. He lets Ghost come to him, opening up at his own pace. In return, Ghost recognizes the sign of somebody who’s taking care of everybody else at the cost of themselves. He sees it in Gaz. He has the will to step up and remind Garrick he doesn’t always have to be in control, things happen, and it’s okay if people have a bad day every once in a while. It doesn’t need to be perfect. Promise.

Price and Soap: “He’s an idiot, but he’s MY idiot” type vibes. Price is a little more stern than Ghost is, mostly because Ghost is easier to exasperate into a smile and a shake of his head. Price is the captain, damn it, John MacTavish, keep yourself under control! (Which Price is NOT saying whenever Soap convinces him to do something a little naughty in private. If anybody can make Price blush with a few words, it’s Soap. Where the hell did Soap even GET that idea to do something like tha- is it an internet thing? It’s probably an internet thing…)

Soap and Gaz: you know the term ‘bromance’? That’s these two. Those guys who are like so close and always making gay/gay sex jokes with each other in public that make you do The Eyebrow Meme because you are waiting for the ‘no homo, bro… unless….?’ But they refuse to say that bit. Keeps the rest of the base on their toes. They aren’t outright horny in public, but you KNOW these two LOVE to catch people off-guard with one of those jokes along the lines of “of course I give my homies a good-night kiss and a bro-job before bed. They’re stressed, bro, it’s called being a good friend’

Price and Ghost: They’ve known each other the longest, and their relationship has the fewest words between them. They know each other inside and out, physically and emotionally. They’ve got experience on the field that the Sergeants haven’t had yet, and they know it. They don’t fault the younger two for it, and they don’t envy that the younger two only have yet to experience it all. Price and Ghost were together before it was even really okay to be gay, especially in the military, so they know how to keep things subtle and on the low-low. full disclosure, i used to read fic in the Last/Double Life era, so it was all “wow Grian is so mean for leaving Scar lonely and cheating on him and Scar is so sad and helpless :(” in the fics i used to read Grian was often so serious and brooding and guilty and mean and like… so many fics i’d read had him as like. evil and cold to poor helpless Scar. which is not a great look! Scar is plenty competent and also his own brand of the worst. he’s not suffering away under Grian’s tyranny. they’re both annoying!

and like yeah sure Grian starts wars. but he does this on servers where deaths are not finite and hold very little weight. people die all the time on hermitcraft and a lot of minigames and silly bits are done about killing each other. it’s just not the same. and yeah, he likes blowing things up and causing problems. but as much as he never considers the consequences of his actions, he also very much will help deal with them to the best of his ability when they’re worse than he expected

there’s a quote from…. oh, i don’t even remember where, bc i heard it when i was binging his evo and seasons seven and eight. but in it Grian says something to the effect of you have to prank hard and clean up harder. which i think summarizes him really well, and which so many people miss w him

and yeah. he definitely is one of the driving antagonistic forces of Third Life. but the whole conflict is Scar picking fights and Grian attempting to finish them. generally enemies the desert made were Scar’s enemies from either threatening them (Dogwarts) or scamming them (Crastle) which Grian generally escalated on Scar’s behalf (albeit without Scar really asking him to escalate, and pushing them significantly farther than Scar intended to escalate them). they bounce off each other and rile each other up because they think it’s fun to cause problems and they’re right

anyway. this is so not focused on DDVAU it’s nearly 2am and i’m just rambling about Grian characterization in fandom in general like two years ago when i used to read scarian fic. ummm. Grian is evil but i think people make him out as more malicious/callous than he actually is sometimes? i don’t think we’ve really seen proof DDVAU Grian is like. a bad person. at least not yet

CG has mostly just antagonized HG and refused to speak to cops (which is the correct thing to do always). while Grian has mostly just bantered with and teased his friends and cousin. hes closed off from Jimmy and not talking to him as much as he should, but being blunt doesn’t make him a bad person

we’ll just have to see how he’s handled. i know he won’t be flawless, bc that’s not how maruu and doody roll, but i don’t think im currently worried about him hitting the same level as HG right now (or at least not showing his flaws in the same way HG has). HG’s manipulativeness comes from his ability and willingness to leverage a systemic power over Grian that Grian simply does not have, and thus which Grian simply cannot do

Hoo boy you've handed me a rough one, huh? I don't think Croc is a kids guy. But I don't think he'd be outright horrible to a small, unthreatening child- if not because of standards, but because it just isn't worth his time or energy to direct actual hatred toward. Yes, he was willing to destroy a whole country and hundreds of lives which no doubt included children, but I think that degree of faceless separation is very different from looking at a kid directly and going "Yeah I'm gonna kill this. Personally. With my hands." Vivi was 16 and Luffy was 17 iirc but one is an important opposing political figure with crucial information on his misdeeds, and Luffy... is Luffy. Idk. What I'm saying is at the very least I don't see him being abusive or disposing of the child- he does like you, and that's a pretty surefire way to destroy you and any reason you have to cooperate.

It could be a "cooperate and your child remains happy/unharmed" situation but tbh I don't wanna write that. Child abuse is a topic I'm willing to touch on in specific circumstances, mostly backstory but I don't really want to write about canon characters doing it. So I simply won't lol. Reader inserts can be held against their will and mistreated but I don't want to involve a kid in that dynamic, so if I write something where the reader is caring for a kid (such as Galley on 4th) then the yandere in question does things through much softer more under-handed methods.

Honestly? The best way I see this working out is Pre-Alabasta arc where Crocodile is still seen as a hero by the masses. There's a good chance that, at least initially, his affections start and end with you. Is irritated if he finds out about the kid after he's decided that he likes you. But you- you're a little slice of domesticity, you fit into his life rather nicely, he thinks. Plus you and the brat help round out his image as a wholesome do-gooder, don't you? A protector of the people, and a loving husband and father to boot. The... dark parts of his business all swept under the rug and kept away from you both, of course.

His dates with you are no doubt extravagant, but he prefers your kid not accompany the two of you on these. Probably prefers to shower them in expensive gifts, rather than spend much one-on-one time with them. I think he could get attached but he'd be in denial about it for a bit. He's able to rationalize the lack of time spent with them to you, specifically in public- he's a notable figure, is he not? While he's a Warlord and could no doubt protect the both of you(his pride will NOT have you believe otherwise), he just doesn't want the risk. You're an adult with full comprehension of the possibility of being targeted, so it's different. He is a good actor, though. While he doesn't spend as much time with the kid, he's good enough that they don't feel actively disliked. A bit... put out, maybe. It's possible your kid just... thinks he's really cool, despite it. Mysterious, close yet distant, someone who makes mom happy and is the reason they both have all this nice stuff, now. Which can be annoying, but stroking the ego doesn't hurt the kid's case. Liking the bananawanis would score them a couple points too...

Magic runs in his body but his scar acts like a barrier and doesn’t let him use it, it basically would his scar worse and bigger. It also grows from stress which is the reason his scar has grown worse as an adult

His mask kinda helps it stop growing more(or at least preventing it from growing more into his face)

And yes this would make him disabled and yes erasing this from him is ableism IDC 🙏🙏

Other relationships would include Gradient, PJ and Palette, their relationship isn’t really explained that much tho, he canonically doesn’t gaf about Palette that much and sees him mostly as someone he doesn’t trust(though he sort-of understands that he’s probably just biased about it??)

The face that Megumi makes rips a laugh from you. It was your classic evening meeting, but since the weather was tragic for the past few days, you’ve ditched the rooftop, settling in your room instead. Lying on your bed with a couple of snacks and a respectful distance between you, you’ve spent the last hour catching up. With how busy Megumi was in the past few weeks, your talks were usually short, and there were fewer of them. Somehow you only now told him about the DM from Zenin, but the amount of strength it took not to scream about it as soon as he stepped into your apartment? You deserve a medal.

“Maybe it’s some sort of ‘be kind to your lamest fan’ charity event. You know, like make a wish.” He says, and you flip him off.

“Maybe I’m just cool as fuck and someone finally appreciates that?” You counter.

“Nah, I’d bet on the charity.” Fushiguro laughs a little when you groan and shove a pillow towards him. For a moment you close your eyes and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, something you lacked in the past days. Working on a new collaboration, streaming, and maintaining your life at the same time was a bit tiring and mostly overwhelming. That’s why you appreciate the calm evening more than usual. You and Megumi talking about the events of this week, the room illuminated just by the fairy lights, music playing in the background from your PC… it’s nice and relaxing. Very much needed for probably both of you. Mr. Guitarist was close to being done with recording the songs for his job, so he stopped spending almost every waking hour of the day in the studio. You can clearly see that he’s tired, but when you commented on it, he shrugged and said it was more important for him to create something he’d be proud of than sleep for healthy 8 hours.

“What’s with the aggression?” Sudden question silences the thoughts in your head, but you keep your eyes closed still.

“What do you mean, aggression?”

“That’s the fourth time you hit me with a pillow. I got two kicks to my shins and a mean fist in the arm.” He counts all of your attacks, and you peer at him.

“I’ll never believe that this fist hurt you in the slightest. For someone who barely eats and locks himself in the studio, your biceps are crazy. But okay, I suppose I’m a bit more aggressive than usual.” Megumi looks shocked, although you’re not sure if that’s because of your aggression or how easily you’ve admitted it. “It’s been a busy week, and I have a bit too much energy. And I haven’t gotten my normal dose of annoying you and Yuji.”

“Damn, first of all, I still train even when I’m working, thank you very much. And second... I don’t even know how to comment on that. You should just punch Yuji, not someone who spends time with you, and bring snacks.” With that statement, he lies back, with his arms behind his head. It’s not weird that you looked at his flexed muscles and a sliver of abs revealed by his shirt rolling up, right? God, this man is fine. Does he have to be so fine?

“Yuji just whines when I do that, though. You flex. Easy choice.” You sigh and close your eyes again, pretending like it was just a normal thing. Yes, you both sometimes threw a flirty comment here and there, never directly referring to your night together, but it was a little different.

When you were on the rooftop, it gave you the freedom of saying shit in an open space. Here, in your room, you are almost painfully aware of how close he is lying. You can feel the heat from his body and smell his perfume. And you’d be lying if you said it wasn’t doing things to you. But Megumi is no better. You’ve noticed how he eyed you up after coming, taking in your shorts, simple t-shirt, and messy hair. Or how his eyes lingered on your face for a little longer than they should.

“So, you like what you see, huh?” He turns on his side, leaning his head on one hand, his elbow keeping him up. If your eyes were open, you would see how his own trace your body, ending their path on your lips. He just needs to lean forward a little… “That makes sense, I’m the hot neighbor after all.”

“Huh?” That brings you to open your eyes and look at him with shock. Only now do you realize that the snack barrier between you two did close to nothing, given how close his face is to yours. And you do not miss how his gaze moves from your lips, but after another second or two. It’s a dangerous game, but neither of you seemed to care.

“I’ve seen your stream. Well, a part of it. How did you put it? ‘I can’t say he’s bad-looking." You’re blushing at this point. You had no idea he watched any of it, especially since he saw how you answered a question about him.

“Don’t let it get to your head. I was just entertaining the chat.” He smirks, knowing very well that’s a lie, and leans a little closer. Your heart seems to be beating to the rhythm of the Fallen song that’s playing in the background, your eyes peeking at his lips on their own.

‘And I'm not here to be

The saviour you long for’

“Sure.” His voice goes down to a whisper. The seconds go by, and you seem to be frozen, both calculating how bad it would be to take the next step.

“Megumi…” You’re whispering too, hypnotized by how intense his gaze is. You want to tell him you shouldn’t. You really do. But the amount of time you’ve spent thinking about him, about his kisses and touch, keeps you from doing it. Would it really be that bad? Doing this one more time?

“Tell me you don’t want it.” There’s a hint of a challenge in how he says it. And since when are you one to hide from a challenge?

You’re the one to kiss him first this time. His reaction is immediate; the hand that was lying on the mattress cups your cheek as Megumi tastes your lips, and you need to hold back a moan. How much you’ve missed that feeling. His touch is gentle, yet reassuring, when he pulls you closer, deepening the kiss. He moves to hover over your body, holding his weight on one arm.

‘Show me those pretty white jaws

Show me where the delicate stops’

“Fuck. I’ve wanted to do that ever since you stepped on that damn roof.” Whispering, he lowers his lips down to your jaw and neck, and your hands now move to his sides and back.

“You should’ve.” You whisper back. You don’t need to see his face to know he has that irritating smirk on, you can feel it on your skin. His hands make their way under your shirt, and he pulls himself from kissing your neck to look in your eyes. “Just one more time?”

“One more time.”

I just can't get over the whole obsession with "Kremlin Bots/Psyops" like do these people realise how fucking stupid they sound? Like they are so insanely parochial, so hopelessly indoctrinated into the principles of the US American Civil Religion, that they just refuse fathom anyone having a moral and rational reason to oppose their nation and its institutions. Like debating over the minor stuff is normal and the sign that you're an intelligent and free thinker, but the second the criticisms start hitting a little too hard then clearly you have to be some malevolent foreign agent who has been paid or created purely to lead good americans astray. Like you can really smell the cultural Christianity because it's literally no different from all the preachers who denounce any opponents of Christian supremacy as agents of Satan himself. It's just a dumb trick to protect your brain from uncomfortable thoughts about the beliefs you hold and the systems you support and the implications this has to your personal sense of moral superiority.

And ironically enough, repeating this stupid cliche in fact makes you sound like some sort of robot or some agent of the US state. But although US government does indeed make use of bots to spread propaganda on social media, on a site like tumblr the vast majority of accounts saying this sort of thing are very much real; they just belong to chauvinist and willingly ignorant liberals who've taken it upon themselves to do that work for free. It would be nice if they found another hobby though; even if you love the US empire you have to admit that this sort of thing is never very convincing. Hi!

This is my main. I did the translation of that one post into Austrian German (Or, well, my specific dialect).

Just wanted to pop in to tell you that you're 100% correct on what you said in the tags. "oba jo" is "aber ja". I even had "joa" written there for a sec, lol, but then I thought about it and realized that I would probably say "jo" in that context.

Bavaria is pretty much the closest to Austrian dialect you can get outside of Austria, lol. And fyi, we also say a bunch of "joa" here as well.

I genuinely put a lot of though into how i should translate "alas". Because there obviously isn't a direct translation. I thought about doing "leida/leider" or "najo/naja" or something else. But then I thought that a word for word translation wasn't the point of this anyway. And that I wanted to write like a person here would say it. (if I'd pay attention in my translation lectures I's probably be able to use the right vocabulary to describe this, because I know we learned it, but alas, lol). Generally I just think that for my blog specifically it makes the most sense to really focus on how an actual person would say something. Because dialect is so fundamentally a verbal form of communication. So I'm always kinda trying to get away from my first instinct of accuracy and instead use how I would verbally communicate this with another person here. (Luckily, I think the translating posts into German blog has the accuracy covered)

Also, istg, it's so hard to figure out how to spell dialect. I do write in dialect when I text friends, but that's really only some. Trying to really write every word like I say it is so much harder than you'd think. Because there isn't really standardization, obviously. So I'm purely going by my gut. I just hope it's at least sorta readable for anyone who knows some dialect.

I'm also itching to bring some Carinthian specific dialect in there. Like, words that confuse my friends who are literally from one state over. Someone please start talking about green beans or smth, lol.

Anyway, I just wanted to give you a bit of an insight into my thought process, if you were interested, but somehow it turned out sorta long and a bit ranty. So I'm sorry about that, lol. Hi! I don't know if you have any idea how incredibly happy this ask made me. Finally I know that I'm not the only crazy person on earth that loves to ramble about every little detail of a language or about a seemingly innocent word like "joa" when translating! I mean, our beloved [tumblr] does host language enthusiasts in general, but nevertheless I feel very validated right now, because it seems that you're a translation student. (I don't have any sort of degree that's related to languages and my German is self-taught.)

Okay so, clearly your endeavor with Kärntnerisch is harder than with Italian, German, Russian etc. because the Carinthian dialect has a weaker written standardization, and I'm guessing that it's also more phonetically "unstable". On top of that, it seems that it has sounds that standard Austrian German doesn't have as well? So that's a bit of a head scratcher.

I too speak an Italian dialect, Salentino, for which basically no written standard has been established, also because it's VERY unstable phonetically, especially in my area. Each town has its own dialect, which can be relatively quite different from the neighboring ones. There is a magazine written mostly in my hometown's dialect that gets published every few months, and let me tell you, it's funny to read but sometimes it's also annoying. Every individual writer brings their own influences from neighboring dialects and their personal take on orthography (LMAO), so the result is always very heterogeneous.

I rarely write in salentino, and when I do I tend to overlook formalities or precision with the orthography because the sentences tend to be very short and recognizable. When I try to be complete though, I use my own personal orthography. I'm trading readability to other users for a more phonemic and unambiguous orthography. So, as a practical example, Italian has the trigrams <sci> and <sce>, in which <sc> is always pronounced as a geminated [ʃʃ]. However salentino has both geminated [ʃʃ] and single [ʃ] sounds, which are commonly both written as <sc>, which means that for example "sciamu" (we go, single [ʃ]) and "sciamu" (we ski) are homographs. Thus I tend to write the single [ʃ] with a <š>. It makes sense when [t] palatalizes the preceding [s] into a [ʃ] in words like štamu, bašta, rištacca (Italian: stiamo, basta, stacca). It'd be crazy to write it instead as sctamu, bascta, risctacca as it would cause the average Italian speaker a stroke.

Anyway, sorry, I definitely got carried away. What I meant to say was: should you look for a standardized orthography for Carinthian (or in general sudbairisch/south Bavarian)? Should you just conjure up your own orthography and write it in the description of your blog? Something in between? The choice is entirely yours. I follow @mundart-ch, who translates posts in Swiss German (specifically their dialect which should be Bern if I recall correctly it was Lucerne. fuck). Swiss German is another example of a messy language that's not fully and neatly standardized, but I think they make a pretty good job at, let's say, transcribing what's essentially a heavily spoken language. I don't speak Swiss German myself but I sometimes show the posts to my mother, who speaks a little bit of it, and she approves lol

In general I agree with your sentiment of seeing the translation as something a Carinthian would say, instead of a word-for-word (wortwörtlich, heh, one of my fav words) translation. I have beef with Italian and German translators/VAs not sounding natural, so...

Oh yes he also has a very popular youtube channel where he explains how to of various craft trades.

Not huge on social media mostly got it because his friends peer pressured him into it. Has facebook and always says happy birthday to people on it but gets annoyed by all the politics. Frodo

Frodo would be on tumblr tho. Username is bagginit on insta and frodoninefingers on twitter which he never uses. His tumblr is ringringhello. He also has insta but rarely posts anything except occasionally a picture of Sam. He has a linguistics Youtube channel where he talks about elvish history and language. Actually the most political on social media this is because Frodo has a very strong moral compass and wants to get the word out about important issues.

Just a rant about some things I have been seeing for a while now on some videos.

Basically the videos I'm referring to usually have something to with LGBTQ+ (Mostly TQ+) and then when I go to the comments I see something like this,

'I'm a gay/bi/lesbian and I don't really care about the TQ+ side and because of (random thing that really isn't an issue like pronouns) this is why the LGB is divorcing the TQ+ side day by day."

It really just annoys me how people can be acting like this to their own community. They make it sound as the TQ+ is the 'louder minority' as so they put it they are less normal than them the other people that a part of this community.

It really just annoys me, with the way they say 'The LGB side should divorce the TQ+ side because they're weird and making us look even stranger than we already are!' Like buddy, I have actually seen those stuff twice, one when I was a homophobe and the second one when I realized I was multigender and cupiromantic/demisexual.

And let me honest, my first reaction to those comments the first time were literally, 'Oh hush, you all still weird as fuck with or without the TQ+". Because seriously, no bigot sees any difference between the casual gay person and trans person. All still abominations in their eyes, talking from my point of view before I stopped being homophobic.

Plus, they are all meant to correlate?? Like you can be trans masc and be gay. You can be a nonbinary lesbian. So people who say the stuff genuinely confused me as I myself is a gay multigender who also so happens to be trans.

It really just hurts how some people don't understand we need to stick together.

trans people have been fighting for queer rights alongside cis queers since the beginning. genderqueer, gnc, genderfluid, agender, multigender and intersex queers have been standing right beside cis queers at marches and rallies. trans people have been writing about homophobia, lesbophobia, biphobia and intersexism alongside the cis queers in modern queer history. why do people think they need to erase that? why would you erase progress for the sake of being petty??

its wild as hell that people genuinely think like this, i agree, it's one of the most unhinged takes i've seen in the longest time. like imagine if us trannies said "gbtqi+ without the L" literally all hell would break loose. tumblr's servers would crash from the monstrous level of backlash people would be facing. you'd be shot dead in the water. but for some reason, it's perfectly okay when you slice off a huge, very important chunk of the community because some people are uncomfy with not being able to tell what genitals a stranger has. it's so petty

As far as he's concerned, touching the Harley means forfeiting the offending limb - especially if she gets scuffed, scratched, smeared or fingerprinted. The only exception is you, of course, since he trusts you to respect his belongings. He will still fuss over the bike though, and will offer a scowl and a grunt if you leave a fingerprint on her (though he'll forgive you as long as he gets to take a picture of you on the bike, just to keep in his wallet, of his two favourite ladies).
